Love how people are SHOCKED when they come on a Pro Jedi blog and criticize the Jedi for particularly heinous bullshit and the Pro Jedi person gets defensive and upset in response.
Wow, no one could have seen that coming.

every sweet treat should be accompanied by a glass of milk. chocolate. brownie. pie. I cannot simply buy a packet of biscuits and enjoy them on their own when i could be having that scrumptious fresh beverage on the side. I may have developed an addiction

A former slave came, to accuse a certain noble of the Zhak. The noble had taken her maidenhood, used her for his pleasure, and gotten her with child. Her new husband wanted the noble gelded for the crime of rape, and he wanted a purse of gold as well, to pay him for raising the noble’s bastard as his own. Dany granted him the gold, but not the gelding. “When he lay with her, your wife was his property, to do with as he would. By law, there was no rape.” Her decision did not please him, she could see, but if she gelded every man who ever forced a bedslave, she would soon rule a city of eunuchs. — ADWD, Daenerys I
A feminist icon, right ?
Daenerys never treats slavery as an evil in and of itself, as an affront to human dignity. It’s a legal technicality. It’s why she acted the way she did in the Lhazareen village, it’s why she doesn’t understand how she needs to treat her “handmaidens” differently if she wants them to understand they are no slaves, it’s why she can almost pettily declare Meereenese can sell themselves back into slavery if they want so long as she gets a profit. She doesn’t understand the fundamentals of why it is bad. The same way she doesn’t understand the concept of rape. That’s why her quest is so empty and doomed to fail. She doesn’t understand it and she doesn’t care to try.
I'm not even gonna bother putting energy into answering this cause it's obvious to me that you and reading comprehension have a strained relationship. You're just not smart and there's nothing I can do to change that. All I'll say is that you could only come up with interpretations like this by removing all context from Dany's arc and cherry-picking quotes. Luckily, the rest of us aren't reading the books with our eyes closed.

I’m reading the roma sub rosa series rn (mystery book series set in ancient rome) and I haven’t read historical fiction much in years (I’m trying to get back into it bc I loved it when I was a kid) so I’m experiencing the feelings that I’m sure regular histfic readers have already reckoned with ages ago of not know how to feel about “”””good”””” characters doing things that are obviously evil but were considered normal at the time. so I went to goodreads and tried google to see if I could find people smarter than me talking about specifically how roman slavery is portrayed in the series (specifically the whole bethesda situation) (and also see if anyone mentioned if saylor addresses the mc’s hypocrisy more head on later in the series) anyway I couldn’t find anything so I checked tumblr to see if anything was interesting and michael bluth voice I don’t know what I expected

Random Bob’s Burgers Thoughts #10
I love whenever a BB fanfic taking place in the future has Rudy be really tall but Louise grows up to be a very short adult, it’s so perfect for both of their characters and if I had the power to make only one fanon thing canon I would pick that in a heartbeat.

I finished The Wolf Den…the whole book messed me up (in a good way) and I cried near the end - I don’t remember the last time a book made me cry??? It really was what I wanted from a book on that subject, all the characters felt real and were treated with a lot of compassion, and I’m glad I found it. obviously the sequel will be different but I am looking forward to it

Fic: Arrow to a Wax Wing
Fandom: Love Like the Galaxy
Word count: 7700
Cheng Shaoshang/Ling Buyi
Summary: Huo Zisheng doesn’t travel to Anyang expecting to find her there. He doesn’t mean to follow her into the garden. He certainly hadn’t meant to throw himself off of a cliff and destroy both of their lives.
Notes:
This piece is largely unfinished and a bit odd because of it. It was inspired by the prompt “fucking to forgiveness,” and because I wanted to write some angry fooling around. It’s pretty much just 3500 words of exposition and then arguing. There’s some sex sprinkled in at the end.
Title taken from the bends by doomtree because I couldn’t stop repeating the line “Cause I got a few miles to go before I concede.”
Dubious consent warning: Cheng Shaoshang repeatedly silences Zisheng while making out. The language used is deliberately violent (she shoves him backwards, slaps her hand over his mouth; he wrenches her around by the arm) to call attention to their mental states, not because they intend to harm. Both of them would consent, as long as the other did first, but neither does.

So much love for everyone in this fandom. Come hang out in the comments and scream about these assholes with me.
