There's parallels between Martha needing to be the fandom's strong independent "need no doctor" figure with how Fifteen is being praised/expected to be the 1st trauma-free Doctor of his generation. Same parallels between how people were surprised Eleven would have grief over Martha and how people were surprised about Fifteen crying after losing Ruby. Its like in response to Black trauma narratives there's a complete 180° where Black characters need to be positive enough to comfort audiences even though the trauma is still basically there.
Anyway this is why I May Destroy You and Rocks are goated when it comes to showing Black trauma properly bc it explores all sides including the limits of how long trauma can be hidden away

3 incredible shows I watched in the past couple of years starring black women, and all of which deserve more love! ♡
~ Swarm delves into the psyche of an obsessed fan and tackles celebrity worship culture, mental illness, grief and so much more and it's such a creative and eye catching show which never fails to entertain. Dominique Fishback is terrifying and captivating as Dre and is the epitome of feminine rage!! ☆ Prime Video ☆
~ I May Destroy You is hands down the best British show I've ever seen, written by and starring Michaela Coel who I had already seen in her hilarious show Chewing Gum. She is able to pack so many ideas and concepts into one show (such as social media fame, rape culture, alienation and friendships) and kept me thinking constantly. Please look up trigger warnings for this one. ☆ BBC iPlayer ☆
~ Mood is the most underrated of these, a drama that was overlooked by many but so worth watching! It feels all too real when it comes to its representations of sex work in the digital age, social media and relationships (and it's a musical in a totally not cheesy way). ☆ BBC iPlayer ☆

I like the shows about women going through gradual breakdowns because I feel like it maps out the course of my own gradual breakdown. It’s uncomfortable but I feel like my hands being held through this
