Everyone go get helgen reborn btw. They give you a house that has a full labyrinthian style mask holder for all of your dragon priest masks, as well as a full 1/3 of the place dedicated to displaying weapons and shields and stuff on the walls. Also there’s a mushroom cave with a bunch of options for getting models of different creatures in the basement, like a sort of museum exhibit. Literally the best player home I’ve ever seen
Also it’s a tower. Perfect for wizards

I was reminded it’s the 9-year anniversary of this stupid thing which is fantastic cause I was JUSt thinking about this yesterday lol
this is it, this is what set me on my current path
Do not recommend having a zombie Ulfric Stormcloak for more than harassing the Windhelm smiths, tho, since he likes to shout in battle and knock you face first into the dirt while fighting skeevers

Time Moves Slow - Farkas
sfw, gn reader Summary: After returning from Sovngarde the Dragonborn finds that a handful of hours for them has been years for those in Tamriel and reunites with their loved one. Others Linked: Vilkas, Brynjolf, Teldryn, Miraak, Cicero
Full of adrenaline and excitement you hustled through the Whiterun plains. Your pack pounded against your lower back but every step brought you closer to Farkas. It was a tad surprising to return to no fanfare. A city guard nodded when you approached the gate but said nothing. The flowers you'd planted only a few weeks ago were nearly dead and Breezehome's paint was faded. It was odd to stand in front of your own home and not recognize it. Dark curtains covered most windows and a workbench boasted some unfinished leather project. Your key stuck in the unforgiving lock. Dread settled into your stomach upon entering your home. The furniture was new, herbs hanging from the rafters and weapons littered on every surface. Dishes were piled messily into a sink you'd cleaned only the day before. Peeking into your apothecary room revealed nothing more than more clutter - armor and weapons stacked into chests you'd never seen before. Your alchemy table bore a lifetime's worth of dust and the shelves surrounding it were devastatingly bare. Something was very wrong. Your footsteps echoed around the strange house when you hurried upstairs. Lydia's room was long empty, bedroll collecting dust in the corner of the empty chamber. Blood roared in your ears when you stared at the state of your bed chambers. Unfamiliar blankets were strewn haphazardly across the bed. Pillows were stacked on one side, the other barren. Farkas' slippers stuck out near his bedside table. A sheet was draped over the case bearing your Amulets of Mara and your wardrobe had been shoved far out of place. Terror chilled your blood when you approached the bed you'd slept in the night before. Something had gone very wrong. Your fingers dragged over the strange blankets as you tried to work out what it could be - had your presence in Sovngarde triggered some reaction in your absence? Your books were gone. Your clothes folded and forgotten in an old trunk. Your leather armor hidden under heaps of heavy metal. Every bit of you seemed to be hidden and shoved away. There was no proof of your existence yet you'd only left a day before. Head spinning, you sat down on the bed. Nothing made sense. Your home was no longer your home. Had you somehow returned to the wrong time? You'd hardly given any thought to your return, planning only for Alduin's demise. "What the -" A voice cut through your thoughts and brought a new bout of anxiety. Strained ears heard the door shut and heavy footfalls through the house. Was this even your home? If you'd returned to the wrong time perhaps Farkas had sold the house. You could be trespassing. "Hello?" A deep voice rumbled up the stairs. "I know someone's been in here. There's nothing much worth stealing, might as well come out." Farkas. That's his voice. Scrambling across the bedroom all anxiety was forgotten at the thought of seeing him. He'd make it alright. He'd explain everything. Your boots scraped over the wooden floor when you panted atop of the stairs, eyes narrowing to spot him through the dim light. A scar his brow. His hair was lighter, tied back from his face in a way you'd never seen before. He shrugged an immense sword off his shoulder and left it on the new couch. When he finally looked up his eyes held dark circles, his familiar smile gone. "Farkas." You breathed his name and his face tightened. "What happened?" "Say that again." He gulped, taking one unsure step. "Say what?" "Say my name." "Farkas." You'd say his name a thousand times. A grin broke out over his face and you launched down the stairs. Everything was so uncertain but he's there to catch you, drawing you into an embrace that hadn't changed. Farkas' strong arms crushed you to his body, tears soaking into his tunic when he finally spoke your name. "I thought you were gone." He mumbled between heavy sobs, clutching you as if you were bound to disappear. "I thought I lost you."

do you have. mod recs. i need more mods and am having trouble finding ones which are not asscentric. my computer is shared i cant have ass mods.
ok i have a bit of time to do this, ill go alphabetically, but keep in mind that obviously most mods require SKSE and each have their own dependencys
and also that i play legendary edition so i have all the DLCs (Even tho i haven't played them rly). also they like. are allegedly all compatable because my game does still work, but if they fuck up yours uh. my bad. im also omitting a bunch that like. i have them but really they dont make the list
also i have a lot of food mods, dont ask why because i dont have the answer. green highlighted mods are my favs
About Horses
Makes horses look like real horses. my inner horsegirl shines on
A Skyrim Kiss - Smooch that fictional character!
A Skyrim Waltz - Dance with them too!
Ur gonna need FNIS for these two
Babettes Feast - Improved Cooking
Adds a bunch of different immersive recipes to the game, i really like this sort of mod when im playing with hunger/thirst mods
Bandolier - Bags and Pouches
this is such a good mod if youre a huge packrat. adds a bunch of craftable wearable storage options like belts and stuff that up your carryweight!
Better Vanilla Hair - Mesh replacement
Just a visual mod that smooths out the blockyness of the hair, without changing it too much. it still like. fits in the game
Beards - Beard texture overhaul
Bosmeri Cuisine - Meat Based Recipies
adds a bunch of recipes inspired by the Green Pact lore, stuff thats completely carnivorous like fried eggs, pemmican and more
Books of Skyrim
Adds a bookstore in solitude so you can hoard more books
Breezehome - Fully Upgradable
I love this mod, it makes it so you can majorly upgrade breezehome with more floors, a whole blacksmith setup, bathroom, and a ton more!

Flying Crows
Female Mannequins
Footprints - Adds npc/player/animal prints in the snow

i have a thing for building mods, i love them. i dont know why but its so fun its like playing home improvement sim. but in skyrim. this one has a really fun questline too, its really fun and well written!
Ineed - Food, water and sleep
i mean, self explanatory again but adds a system for needs. I like that its really adjustable so if you find it harsh you can tone it down.
Immersive Armours
Self explanitory but also a really great mod! very immersive armors that look great!
Immersive Citizens - Ai Overhaul
Its like if the npcs actually were functional
Immersive Weapons
see above but for weapons!
Lanterns of Skyrim
ok technically i have the old version of this but im sure its the same, it adds a bunch of lanterns on the paths all around skyrim
Left Hand Rings
Lovely Hairstyles - Immersive hair
Marriage Mod - To have and to hold
this one updates the weddings so theyre a little more in depth as well as adds the options for multiple marriages. also adds a few quests!
Marks of Beauty - Freckles moles and more!
Racemenu - Player creation overhaul
I feel like most people have this one but if you love character creation this is the one, its so good and you can fuck with EVERYTHING
Relationship Dialogue Overhaul
Guys i really like this one, it adds a TON of dialogue for your spouses , followers, etc and they're all just ripped from existing dialogue so they don't sound out of place or anything! i love it
Sweet Mother - Night mother improvement
Sounds of skyrim - complete edition
i love these mods they basically overhaul the ambient sounds all over the game, i especially love how real they make the forests feel!

Yeah Teldryn is a cool character but i wish he didn't repeat the same phrase every 5 seconds most of the time. I never got to hear a good part of his unique dialogue cause he keeps going "oughh your so competent my last patron fucking died". Or when we are in my breezehome he keeps mentioning how much of a shit city whiterun is compared to blacklight. Like dude i get it. I love his lines i just wish he the time and frequency at which he says them was a bit different. Maybe give him a slightly higher chance of saying something unique and don't make him repeat it all the time.

Skyrim men reacting to s/o being pregnant
Farkas, Nazier, Brynolf, Bailmund
Fair warning for Nazier and Brynolf it's written as if your in a relationship but nothing very serious as a nod to the fact you can't marry these men in game....still unhappy about that....the others are written as if you're married
Apologies if these are a bit long, wanna do it justice! Enjoy!! :)
Farkas
When Farkas returned from the job he was sent on he went straight into your shared home of Breezehome, where you greeted him with a big hug and kiss as well as a refreshing mug of ale. Setting the mug down for a moment to shed his heavy armor he didn't notice your nervous twitches as you waiting for him to get comfortable to share the news. As he collapsed in the chair with a groan he picks up the ale again.
"So did you do anything interesting while I was gone?" he'd ask. You shrugged clearing you throat trying to find the way to word it.
"Well I did a few odd jobs, helped the guards kill some vampires and uh...oh I uh...I learned something new about myself."
"Oh really? What's that?" He asks taking a big drink of the ale.
"I'm pregnant." The poor man chokes and coughs hard as ale flies out of his mouth and nose at the shock of your words. You're left sitting there speechless and wide eyed as the man you love is coughing and wiping his face trying to recover before he looked up at you with the same wide eyed expression.
"YOU'RE WHAT?!"
"Pregnant." The man stared at you like you had grown two heads, which in a way you slowly were. Farkas stared at you for so long you started to fidget thinking that he was unhappy with the news so you try to tell him more details.
"I found out after the vampire fight, I was more tired than I usually was and Aela commented that my scent was different. I realized it's been a little over a month since my last bleed so I went to the temple and the healers confirmed it...at this moment I'm about a 2 months." Farkas was stunned, he didn't even think that the night you two shared before he left could of resulted in a child, he honestly never really thought about having kids. Slowly he slid out of the chair and stood on his knees next to your's lightly placing his hand on your stomach.
"You're pregnant....Gods I never thought...I mean..." He couldn't find the words and he never cursed so much before now that he wasn't his brother who could tell you so easily how happy he was. Looking up at you he cups your face before pulling you down into a gentle kiss like you were made of glass, pulling away with a smile.
"Let's hope the poor pup doesn't get my ugly mug." With a laugh you kiss him back resting your forehead against his, knowing that even though it was unexpected the two of you were going to make this work together.
Nazier
Nazier was used to you vanishing for weeks or months at a time, your duties as Listener and Dragonborn kept you busy, which is why the casual relationship the two of you shared worked well for him. It allowed you both to fill the desires you both had as well as make it so the distance didn't hinder the work you both needed to do.
When you returned from your travels you looked pretty tired and beat up, which struck him as odd, as you could handle yourself with almost anything. Putting some hot stew into a bowl, grabbing some fresh bread and a mug of mead he went down to the living quarters where you had retreated to. Smelling the stew you turn and give him a smile as you start to remove your armor.
"Thought you might need this, you looked pretty beat up. Rough travels?" He asks setting the food down on the table and sitting down in one of the seats next to it.
"You could say that. Fought a dragon outside Windhelm, got hurt and ended up stuck at the temple for a few weeks before I was able to get back here." you explain setting down the last of your armor. You were thankful for the loose tunic you were wearing as it hit your slightly bulging belly, you wanted to break the news to him before he saw it.
"A few weeks at temple? You must of been hurt bad, are you alright?" He asked concerned, the Brotherhood just found it's Listener and he didn't think they'd survive without you. Sitting in the open chair you pull the bowl to you and take a bite sighing happily at the flavors. Nazier may be a murder but he's also a damn good cook. You finish your bite before looking up at him.
"I wasn't hurt to bad, they kept me because they found out I have....something else happening with me..."
"Something else? What else?" You sigh before putting the spoon back in the bowl deciding just to get it over with.
"When I got hurt it was in my shoulder and ribs and while the healers were taking care of me...they found out I'm pregnant..." You look him in the eyes and as your words sink in. You can see him stiffen and look down at your belly.
"They kept me longer to make sure there was no harm done to the baby and only when they were satisfied did they let me go...I...I came straight here to tell you, ran into some wolves just outside of town that's why I looked rough but I kept going because I needed to tell you." Nazier nodded slowly when you finished talking the weight of everything setting heavily on his shoulders. You were pregnant and while the two of you were not serious with each other he knew you weren't seeing anyone else, you wouldn't be telling him otherwise, so it had to be his.
"How... how far along are you?" He asked slowly. you set your hand on your stomach the fabric tightening showing your small bump.
"Three and a half months." Nazier nodded again before sighing and running a hand down his face before leaning his elbows on the table.
"I'll be honest; this isn't something I was counting on when we started our little meet ups. I'm a murder, I don't know how to raise kids and I've never been the most maternal of people however...." He looks you in the eye "I am here for you. If you want to take it to the orphanage after it's born I will support you, if you want to keep it I will do my best to help."
"I want to keep it." You say looking him dead in the eye as well so he knows how serious you are. He stares at you for a second before leaning back in the chair with a smile.
"Then I suppose our little family here is growing again."
Brynjolf
Brynjolf had had no time for you anymore. The two of you had shared beds many times before Mercer's betrayal and even did so again before that final battle. Now that you were the guild master you expected that to continue not to have him suddenly want nothing to do with you. Frustrated you spent less and less time around the Flaggon, spending more time on the road. It wasn't until you were in Solitude taking care of business did you realize it had been three months since your last bleed and your belly and breasts had gotten bigger. You knew what it meant and you knew who the father had to be, so you started the long trek back to Riften.
As you enter the city gates you adjust your cloak around your shoulders to cover your front. Heading into the grave yard you ope the secret entrance and head down. Climbing down that ladder you're greeted by Sapphire and Rune. Nodding to them you spot Brynjolf and take a steading breath before heading over to him.
"Brynjolf, we need to talk."
"Sorry lass, I've important things to do. We'll speak another time." He says and starts turning to walk away from you. It may have been your frustrations for how he's been treating you or your hormones acting up but you were not going to take that. Grabbing the belt that hold the pouches on the front of his armor you pull him around to face you leaving him stunned by your strength and the anger on your face.
"No! We are talking now!" You almost yell before dragging him towards the training area. All the thieves in the area made a clear path for you wanting nothing to do with your rage. Once in the room you yelled out to the others there and they quickly ran out like their lives depended on it. You dragged him over to the training chests and forced him to sit on one of them before leaning down and pointing your finger in his face.
"You are going to sit there and be quiet until I'm done talking and your not leaving here until I'm done or so help me I will shout you right through the wall behind you!" Brynjolf nods and sits more comfortably on the chest giving you his full attention. He had never seen you this angry, it was both sexy and terrifying. You stand up straight looking at him dead in the eyes.
"You have been ignoring me, dismissive of me, and rude to me. You constantly make excuses not to talk to me and I've had enough, I need to tell you something important and I need you to listen well; I'm pregnant." Brynjolf wasn't sure what he was expecting you to say but it wasn't that, the man sitting on the chest suddenly looked like his brain shut off so with a sigh you continue moving your cloak so he can see your slightly belly.
"I'm three and a half months, and before you ask yes it's yours. You're the only man I've been with so there's no chance it's anyone else. I'm not asking you to quit the guild and go straight I know you can't. I'm only telling you this because you deserve to know, and because I am keeping it. I've a home here in Riften, I got after getting the Jarl to make me a Thane, I plan on living here but if it's a problem I do have a home in Whiterun. I do plan to return to the Guild after the child is no longer a helpless babe, but until then I won't be here much."
You finish your speech and look at him as you rest your hand on top of your belly. It wasn't something you did often but when you did it was a comfort. Brynjolf to his credit did sit and not interrupt you once during your talk and only when you seemed did he start to speak.
"Well you're right about one thing lass, I can't go straight. I've been in the guild to long to give it all up, that being said; I won't let you do this alone." That last bit shocked you as he stood up and gently placed a hand over yours.
"This is certainly unexpected, but any thief will tell you that sometimes you have to improvise. I'm sorry for ignoring you and making you feel tossed aside. If you live here in Riften I will be here with you, I will be here for the child. Everyone here knows I'm with the guild so I'm not worried about blowing cover. This is a new adventure and I've never been one to back down from a challenge. Besides with skills like ours our child will be the greatest thief in all of Skyrim and the world!"
Balimund
You stand in front of the cooking pot feeling happy and content. Alduin had been defeated, the civil war was over and while there was still some dragons to deal with most decided to follow Parthanaax. Now you could take a breath and relax. After most of your travels were done you had returned to Riften and found Balimund, wearing a amulet of mara you had both agreed to wed. Balimund had captured your heart when you knew his; his kind heart in taking in Asbjorn from the orphanage and training him, to his gratitude when you brought him the fire salts.
The door opens as your husband enters hot and tired from a day of working the forge. He walks over and gives you a kiss before going to wash up. When he comes back you've got dinner on the table and you and Asbjorn are already starting to eat. As he sits down and starts eating you feel both nervous and excited at the same time before you take a breath to calm yourself before sharing the news. Before you get the chance he turns to look at you.
"This is incredible, you're an amazing cook dear! Much better than we are." His praise never failed to make you smile or love him even more. Asbjorn nodded in agreement.
"I agree, watching him try to cook fish was always a nightmare, missed so many bones and ruined the fish." Balimund nudged him with his elbow before taking another bite and then asking another question.
"By the way, did you go to the temple today to get healed from being sick?" You had been sick the last few days and decided to go to the temple to see if they could heal you as healing potions didn't seem to help. It was there you were told you were pregnant and the smile that had been on your face when you found out had never left.
"Yes I did and it turns out I'm not sick...I'm pregnant." Balimund coughed choking on air for a moment while Asbjorn gave you a big smile.
"That's incredible! Congratulations to the both of you!" Balimund managed to remember how to breathe before he stood up quickly and pulled you into a big hug, picking you up and spinning you aorund.
"Gods be praised! This is the best news I've ever heard!" Setting you down gently he cupped your face and gave you a deep passionate kiss before pulling away with a big smile.
"I thought I was the happiest man in the world when you agreed to marry me but you continue to make me even happier. I'll get started working on a cradle tomorrow as well as taking some more orders to bring in more gold. Asbjorn; I know you'll have no problem handling the forge for a while when the baby arrives."
"Of course, I'm happy to help and happy for the both of you." The both of you sat down and continued to eat dinner, when you were going to go to Sovrenguard to battle Alduin you weren't sure you would ever have this but now here you are, with your growing family, with a happy air and a excitement for the future.

Ondolemar: *sitting in breezehome after being sprung from prison before his execution by the orders of the dominions overlord for refusing to let him know where marigold or Caryalind are, just quietly staring at the fire and trying to ignore the sting from his whip markings* …
Taliesin: *sighs and sits by the fire* Septim for your thoughts?
Ondolemar: I’m reevaluating my entire life… how I’ve wasted it… how long I’ve spent blinded by hatred for those different then me…
Taliesin: septim well spent… *pokes the fire and tosses another log onto it* It’s not an easy feeling to be confronted with… but… it’s necessary in becoming a better person…
Ondolemar: a better person… *scoffs with a sad pained laugh* Marigold must have truely lost his mind then… why would he bother trying to help me better myself when he’s already perfect?…
Taliesin: … *gets up and pops open a bottle of wine, pouring himself a glass before giving Ondolemar the rest of the bottle* You’re going to need that for what I’m about to tell you-
*a few hours later*
Ondolemar: *just absolutely wailing and hugging marigold tight after hearing about all the horrible things his god son went through* ILL LOVE YOU STILL EVEN IF YOU HAVE ANTLERS AND EAT PEOPLE!
Marigold: *being squashed by his very drunk god father* i- I’m half bosmer I’m not a cannibal- *glares at Taliesin* Why didn’t you let me break it to him!?
Taliesin: I couldn’t risk him hurting you!!

Is there anything specific about your writing which you can pinpoint that you have improved upon since starting writing? Where have you seen the most "gains"? Is there anything in particular that you'd like to tweak? (I have been thinking about this a lot for myself personally, and I thought it would be an interesting question for you.)
Hello WINTER 🫂!! Ah this is such a fantastic question! Thank you for asking it. Let's talk about level ups below the cut!!! It'll be a long post with rambling, advice and snippets.
Without further ado...
What really is a Level Up and how do I notice one?
I have been seeing a lot of you guys really level up lately with your writing. The joy and effort is super, super apparent in our circle and I am seriously proud of you guys. I'm floored reading the work all ya'll are sharing for WIP (whenever.) It's interesting to me that I can so easily see the skill gains for others but it's much tougher for me to look at mine and SEE it. There's a bit of a perception about our own craft that it's not as "good as it should be" but it's really part of a cycle. (This post here can explain it with graphics.)
At a certain point we hit an overlap where we see/evaluate craft in ways we're still working on putting into practice which can skew our perspective of our own work until we catch up with ourselves. It's important to understand this, at least for me, because it's like...partially turning a page in a book. We're still processing what's been said, but we don't know the rest of the story yet :> And the only way to get the rest of it is to keep going, and finish turning the page.
As with art -- I love looking back on old work and noticing just how much things have changed and for the better, too. Part of learning how to level up is also learning to be gentle with ourselves, which is my next point.
Something that has helped me immensely and has been so invaluable in my journey is mindfulness and mindset shifts. Instead of using negative self-talk on myself, on my writing, on my craft -- I try to reframe it into statements like "I can change how I convey x, y or z if I try this." It is not an easy thing, and is a constant journey. But it does help the level ups. I speak from painstaking experience.
For specifics about my writing -- I'll begin from when I started writing World because I have been writing for ages at this point (I started when I was 7 years old after I first read The Hobbit lol).
Gains
I have seen immense improvement with my scenery descriptions and describing how characters feel about a space and events going on in them since the beginning of World. I have aphantasia so it's really almost impossible for me to visualize anything in my head regarding scenery especially. I tend to rely on sound for this, but imagery is important. Also when I began World, I was in full challenge mode and didn't have the time or confidence to look up the references I needed. I can compare draft versions here for example.
Old Chapter 9 - First version
She took his hand and led him down past the now-recovered Gildergreen, whose ethereal flowers still bloomed in the cold of Sun’s Dusk. They walked almost to the entrance of the city, right before Adrianne’s forge. Nyenna guided him up the stairs of a little house which had stood empty for as long as anyone could remember. Recently, the old, faded boards that had scarred its surface had been replaced. She pulled a fine chain from around her neck and revealed a brass key hanging on it. She unclasped her necklace and unlocked the door of the house.  Athis looked around in awe at the tiny, perfect cottage. There was not a speck of dust, and the fire had already been lit. New dishes lined shelves that had been made by hand. Candles scattered around the room glowed like miniature stars. The light shone off of their matching rings as they walked toward the back of their kitchen. “Welcome to Breezehome,” Nyenna said. “I’ve been working on this for weeks.” “You did all this yourself? For me?” Athis asked, still stunned. He ran his hands over the rough hewn table in the back of the room almost as if he couldn’t believe it was real. “For us,” Nyenna corrected. He turned and lifted her up in one motion, spinning her around in pure joy before setting her back down. They sat down together at the table, and he kissed her gently. “Our home,” Athis said, voice thick with emotion. “Our home,” Nyenna agreed. He pulled her into a tight embrace. They sat like that for some time, warm in each other’s arms.
New Version (Now Chapter 7)
She took his hand and led him down past the now-recovered Gildergreen, whose ethereal flowers still bloomed, even in the cold of Sun’s Dusk. They walked almost to the entrance of the city, right before Adrianne’s forge. Nyenna guided him up the stairs of a little house which had stood empty for as long as anyone could remember. Recently, the old, faded boards that had scarred its surface had been replaced. She pulled a fine chain from around her neck and revealed an old brass key hanging on it. She unclasped her necklace and unlocked the door of the house. She led Athis into the tiny, perfect cottage. There was not a speck of dust, and the fire had already been lit. New dishes lined shelves that had been made by hand. The kitchen area next to the hearth in the center of the main room was outfitted with second hand, well-loved pans Hulda had given her. Tundra cotton and lavender hung from the ceiling, drying alongside other bundles of herbs and braids of garlic. Candles scattered around the room glowed like miniature stars. The light reflected off of their matching rings as they walked toward the back of their kitchen. She fell even more in love, if it was possible, as she watched him look around in awe at all her hard work. All she had achieved for them. “Welcome to Breezehome,” Nyenna said quietly. “I’ve been working on this for weeks, between everything else.” “You did all this yourself? For me?” Athis asked, still stunned. He ran his hands over the rough hewn table in the back of the room almost as if he couldn’t believe it was real. Farkas had actually found that for her. She had repaired it herself. “For us ,” Nyenna corrected. He turned and lifted her up in one motion, spinning her around in pure joy before setting her back down. They sat down together at the table, and he kissed her gently. She giggled. “Our friends helped, too.” “This is really our home?” Athis asked, voice thick. He smiled, garnet eyes shining with held-back tears. “Our home,” Nyenna agreed. He pulled her into a tight embrace. They sat like that for some time, warm in each other’s arms. She pulled another fine chain out from beneath her dress. A brand new brass key she had Adrianne make for her hung from it. She handed it to Athis. He held onto it like it was the greatest treasure he’d ever seen before he slipped the chain over his head, links catching in his hair and tugging more strands loose from the braids. She knew he’d never thought he’d be able to have a place to call his own. It was why she had been working so much, and sleeping so little. To give him this, that they could share together. It was the least she could do. She wanted a home, too. It had been so long since she had felt this kind of safety, this kind of comfort. Normalcy, of any kind. He had given her that. Freely and with his whole heart. They had already started to build a beautiful life. It was more than what she had asked for. It was everything she could have imagined and more.
Changes
I think if I were to pick one thing I'd still like to push more it'd be the visual descriptions of things for sure as mentioned above. I do rely a lot on sound to convey a lot of what I'm experiencing in my mind while I'm writing. Sound has never been an issue for me to remember or to imagine. But balancing that with actual descriptions of what the character can see is still super important and I do try very hard to do this :D
Final Thoughts
Leveling up and improving at writing takes a lot of practice generally speaking, and the drive to want to do the thing. Life can get in the way of creativity sometimes, I speak from experience. So the biggest advice I can give is to normalize being proud of your journey. Each step, past, present and where you're trying to go in the future. Your words matter more than you realize, more than the numbers will have you believe, more than your own self-talk will try and convince you otherwise.
Level ups occur because you are doing something you love, acquiring good input (ie reading widely, and writing often and noticing what works about these stories and what doesn't and asking WHY) , and making a concerted effort to try your best. And your best can look like different things at different points. The next step after that is like I said above, be gentle with yourself, especially each of your past selves. Their work got you where you are today. And where you are today will become a past self that provided a foundation on which you level up your craft.
So be kind to yourself. Keep practicing. Be mindful. When you are inspired, don't forget to write it down. Save pieces of your work for later. Review your own writing with pride.
I know it's not the easiest to see in ourselves and our work, but all that we do, all that creativity -- it's absolutely worth it. The level ups will happen. It takes time. But you'll get there.
(And Winter specifically? GIRL. You are leveling up. You got this. I see you. (: )

WIP Wednesday 💛
So, in spite of the absolute disaster that has been my life over the past few days, I've finally today been able to keep myself together enough to get words written down for the start of Chapter 16 of The Perfect Storm.
I've been tagged by @oblivions-dawn and @thequeenofthewinter, but I'm not going to tag anyone back at this point though do feel free to tag me in any WIPs... I love to read them! 💛
The pursuit of relaxation was becoming harder and harder for Elyse – no matter where she went and what she did, something would always need to be done or crop up at the most inconvenient of times, just like the recent events at the Honningbrew Meadery.
She was contemplating seeing whether she could just lock herself away in Breezehome for a while just for some peace, but a weird feeling of melancholy settled in when she thought of her home – she had only been in Dragonsreach for a few weeks, a few months at best, but it almost didn't feel like hers any longer. Almost none of her belongings were there from when she helped Lydia tidy after the roof repairs, and it felt more like her housecarl's home than her own afterwards. But Dragonsreach was not her home either. Her existence there was temporary, even if for the long-term, and that thought lingered persistently at the back of her mind. And that wasn't even getting started on the mess which was Lakeview.
Instead of choosing to venture out to wind down though, she instead decided to stay within her temporary home of Dragonsreach to see what more there was to do there. Before long, she found herself sat in the main hall in a table tucked away in a corner, with a few select books she had picked up from the nearby shelves.
She did had to admit though... watching things unfold as Balgruuf handled his daily audiences had their moments on the occasions where they managed to catch her attention.
Some were enough to tug at the corners of her lips because they were quite silly and handled incredibly well by him – including a hunter who had dragged in her 'proof of killing sabre cats which were plaguing the hold', saying that he had put a bounty out for it… just for him to ask Proventus when the last time he had put out a bounty with regard to the creatures, and it turning out to be five years prior and long-since completed. She had overheard the woman grumbling about having to get a refund as she was escorted out by guards.
Other times though… she would wince, because they were just painful to listen to. There were a few occasions where somebody would come in and yell at Balgruuf for not picking a side in the war, where she could see him trying to keep a straight face and a sympathetic ear depending on the circumstances of their need to shout at him, but ultimately having to dismiss each of them because he had no intentions of dragging Whiterun into war until the time came that there would be no other option.
It was during one of the latter scenarios, when she was silently listening as somebody tried to persuade the Jarl of the importance of siding with the Empire, that she ended up with company. She didn't actually notice until a quiet voice piped up from beside her.
"He likes to brag about that sometimes. It's probably because he feels pathetic in comparison."
Body tensing up, Elyse quickly turned her head to the side before letting out a small sigh. Nelkir was glowering at the book in her hands, huffing quietly as she tried to process what he had just said. "I- I'm sorry, what…?" She closed the book, and glanced at the cover for a moment. Olaf and the Dragon. "Who likes to brag about what, exactly? Owning a history book?"
The boy already seemed exasperated at her response. "My father, obviously. He likes to brag that we are descendants of Olaf, and that Dragonsreach is all important… But he's just a foolish old man who can't make decisions except stupid ones, and uses the past to feel all high and mighty."

Since you do play skyrim, I do have to ask you now who your favourite companion/extra carrying space person is, what guild you like the best, your preferred home, and the funniest glitch you’ve come across.
I’m sorry, I’m contractually obliged as someone who made an eldrich pact in order to find the non porn or dragon age crossover Skyrim fics.
Hmm okay
1. Vilkas, probably, because he looks like my husband and has a sexy voice and is a hot werewolf. However, I don't always use followers, because I like having full control of my sneaking and controlling them is a faff.
My husband is also playing atm, though, and his answer is Brelyna Maryon (is that her name?) She's the absolutely useless wizard in Winterhold - he turned up and she asked him to help with some spells and he said yes, and then her spells were useless. Terrible. The effect of one? His vision went green for a bit. He was immediately charmed, and took her with him. Worst mage in the game. Not even a good idea for him to take her, because they're both dark elf mages, too - but Steff was like "This woman can't do a single thing and I am delighted. She's coming with me."
2. Guild is difficult. I do like the Thieves Guild, but you're absolutely entrenched in the pocket of Maven Black-Briar, and I passionately and wholeheartedly loathe her. I wish I could just throw her corpse into Riften canal.
So maybe Companions. I think they're the only ones I don't have major objections to, plus they're hot werewolves. Always a bonus.
3. Preferred home is Breezehome for my daughter, because one of the first things I do in every single playthrough is adopt Sofie. It goes:
Escape Helgen
Go to Riverwood, get that claw back (get the Dragonstone and loads of sellable shit at the same time)
Go to Whiterun and talk to the Jarl
Kill the dragon
Become Thane and buy Breezehome
Kit out Breezehome with a child's bedroom
IMMEDIATELY run to Windhelm
Burst in through the city gates
Punch anyone in the way
Find Sofie and buy all of her flowers to make her smile
Listen to her devastating tale of woe
Ask her if she wants me to adopt her
Cry when she calls me Mama
Send her to Breezehome because Whiterun is the safest place in all of Skyrim for a child when considering dragons, civil wars, and Assorted Skyrim Assholes
Decide what the hell I'm now going to do with the game
I really like building houses too, though, which is how I now have Big Naked Dad in my garden. Amazingly, it's happened in Windstad Manor rather than Lakeview; I once tried to move Sofie into the latter but NEVER AGAIN
Uh, special shout outs to the prettiest homes, though, Vlindrel Hall is fucking gorgeous (like fuck will I ever let Sofie near Markarth tho) and the one in Solitude, love that one.
4. One of the guards in Riften in my current game keeps sitting on an invisible chair and eating in the middle of the street, outside the pub. Every time I see him he looks like he's doing some squats and having a picnic. Very charming.

Jiraak OC relationship ask: 5, 31, 32, 38, 40, 61 and 100! (only if it’s no trouble! I’m incredibly nosy :3)
I LOVE NOSY!!! BE NOSY ALL YOU LIKE!!! Thank you so much for asking about my stupid blorbos!!! 💖🥺
💕ask game💕
5. What is something they like to do together?
Ah, many things! Firstly, I can see them enjoying learning from each other since they're both very inquisitive—Jia teaches Miraak alchemy, while he teaches her magic, mostly restoration and alteration. They like cooking together (Miraak's not there yet, but he tries okay; he loves eating though! 🥲), and they even like to stay close in comfortable silence; I promise, though, Jia loves it when listens to him humming Atmoran shanties and/or psalms from his Dragon Priest era! Having been out of Apocrypha, she knows he'd appreciate walks in the sun and picnics in the frosty woods by Heljarchen Hall, as well as gazing at the aurora and the stars at night, feeding the birds nestling in her roof tiles, tending the flowers in her garden, and generally, being reintroduced to the world with her helping him remember every single detail...🥰
31. How would they describe one another.
Due to the nature of their soul bond (which hasn't been clarified completely in my fic yet...👀) I can only imagine them describing one another the way Emily Bronte did it in Wuthering Heights, which is to say not so romantic, but with a tint of pain and inevitability instead:
“He is more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same. If all else perished and he remained, I should still continue to be, and if all else remained, and we were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger. He’s always, always in my mind; not as a pleasure to myself, but as my own being.”
32. Can they communicate private thoughts whilst in company? If so, how?
I mean,,, they can read each other's minds if they try hard enough! There's a scene in my fic where Miraak just. skims through Jia's memories and almost uncovers her worst fear (wow, rude much, Miraak? 😤). Also, they tend to recognize each other's mannerisms. For example, Jia has very specific ways she moves when she's nervous, angry, excited, etc, and Miraak, being very observant, knows how to interpret them even if she can't speak her mind at a specific moment, and vice versa.
38. What would be their ideal evening in?
So, both in Heljarchen Hall and Breezehome, Jia has purposely left a piece of her wooden canopy a little open (just so, she can't stand the cold!), so the light of the night sky always slips right into her room. I imagine an ideal evening in would be her lying in bed with Miraak, both moonbathed, talking to each other, discussing everything, good and bad, tales and real segments of their lives, until the night eventually turns into day, and instead of starlight/moonglow, they are cloaked by the warmth of the sunlight and birbs' chirps...🥰
40. THE OLD WITCH SLEEP AND THE GOOD MAN GRACE BY THE AMAZING DEVIL.
Their shared trauma, their pain, their despair, their attempts to give strength to one another ["You're better than this" He says as a hand slaps my face and I stand And say, "No good man grace" I can't do this (you can)] AND ["Oh, sleep now," oh, she pleads "You're not a coward 'cause you cower You're brave because they broke you Yet broken still you breathe So breathe, breathe, just breathe"]
Not to mention the "'Cause you are in the earth of me", which for Plot Significance makes me jump around like a monkey. Ough. Just Ough...
61. How would they describe their S/O in one word?
Miraak for Jia: ember (a smouldering one...👀)
Jia for Miraak: angel (a bit fallen and corrupted but an angel nonetheless 😅)
100. Make a meme of this ship.
I am a bad Meme Maker myself, but I stumbled upon a Perfect Jiraak Meme on Pinterest, which is this right here and has a very "give me your hand" "I'll stain you" "I'll take it" vibe:

This also goes either way, for both.

Six Sentence Sunday
Howdy! I was tagged in this by @totally-not-deacon and imma be real I'm not 100% sure what this is but, I'm assuming it's 6 sentences of a WIP so enjoy!!
idk who to tag, but to all of my lovely writer friends please know that I see and love everything you do
The dying embers of the fire cast a flickering, warm glow on the walls of Breezehome... the air still, silence only broken by the soft snores of Lucien and Inigo. Good.... Good. Everyone was finally sleeping. Made it all the easier.
You took one last look over at the Khash's small room, Lydia reclining in a chair by the door, eyelids twitching as she dreamed, and placed your letter on the table. It was better this way.

ooh for the ask game I’d love to know Forbidden and/or Honeyside. OC(s) of your choice!
!! thank u!!
Forbidden: If you could choose to betray any Guild Dark Brotherhood style, which would you choose and how? Idk if it counts but I think it would be the Blades for me. Especially with a playthrough more dedicated to the main story it feels very natural to do Delphine's quests and help her rebuild the Blades - plus Sky Haven Temple is such a sick location!! If my character were to destroy the faction, I don't think it would be intentional. The Dragonborn wouldn't join them or help rebuild their ranks with nefarious plans. Delphine and Esbern are quite good at making the player and LDB feel like their goals align 110%. For me it wouldn't be until Delphine demands the death of Paarthurnax. Being told to kill the dragon who has taught them so much would likely dissolve any type of friendship they've formed with the Blades. Their refusal to speak to the Dragonborn or cooperate with them in any way until they meet this demand would probably build over time, changing from frustration into rage until their blade drew not for Paarthurnax but those attempting to control the Last Dragonborn. At least it would be a conclusion to the story, instead of an unfinished quest that lingers in my log.
Honeyside: Which house did you buy/build first? Is is still your first choice? Feel like Breezehome is everyone's first house lol. I don't really have any strong feelings for it these days, Whiterun is more of a necessary pit stop to me. Saryn does end up living in Honeyside after the events of the Thieves Guild questline. It's probably my favorite home from the base game - i love the layout, especially the back porch that allows you to move from Riften to the rest of Skyrim so seamlessly. I love a big body of water, and the eternal autumn vibes of the Rift seem like the perfect spot to sit on a chilly morning and sip a hot beverage. Vyrth will most likely end up building a home instead of purchasing, I think it'll be Lakeview Manor. There's something so peaceful about the location of this home, having the thick forests to one side and a view of the lake to the North. You just know the air is crisp as hell out there.

Oh Skyrim...
I booted up my old three year old save to see what my character looked like. I went into breezehome to visit my wife Borgakh. She isn't there, but Aela is. Aela is calling me darling and such. Aela is a lovely woman, but is not my wife, what are you doing in my house? I don't know what on earth happened but I had to download a divorce mod to get rid of the false wife. Then I had to reload cause my real wife ran off and disappeared from the game right after the wedding. Oh Skyrim...

Shout out to that time when i just completed the main dawnguard mission and needed a pick me up because the vale is pretty but SUPER LONG AND IRRITATING so i decided to go to the nearby orc stronghold, brawl the chief and marry one of the chiefs daughters, Borgakh the Steel Heart and she was excited to leave with me. So excited that for some reason, she said i do and turned and left the temple of mara before my little argonian nerd man could answer yeah or nay or marriage. Then i got nervous, rushed the ceremony and tried to follow her outside cause she didnt ask where she could go live and when i looked at the dispersing crowd of loved ones, she was fucking no where. So now im running around to all my houses; shes not at vindrell hall, shes not a breezehome, shes not at honeyside and by this point,i dont have the home from windhelm or solitude. Ik i have a modded in castle house(cause i need the space, this is an archival run) so maybe the a.i got confused and went there. Nope. Shes not at dragonblood castle. Idk where my wife went.
So i say fuck it and assume maybe she went back to her stronghold and i still have to pay her dowry. As i arrive, its night time and dark asf. I have no follower but im just here to check for wife. No wife, infact, nobody is here other than her mom. So i sigh and start looking up what could of happend online. I see something that says that a glitch can occur where they leave(this has NEVER happened to me before and ive married easily on all 3 of my previous playthroughs) and it might be fixed if you wait outside the temple for a day and then re-enter.
As im about to fast travel from an area next to solitude(farthest northwest of the large map) alllll the way back to riften(farthest southeast of the large map) i get taken out of my map to my horse next to me freaking out and in cheeky little white writing at the top left of my screen, a tiny little message pops up " you can not fast travel with enemies near by". Im sorry WHAT?? I look up and cinamatically captured by my camera angle, i see an elder dragon, blowing a stomache full of fire, swoop over the orc stronghold that singularly holds my new wife's father, grandmother and mother.
So yeah.. I fight and kill the dragon. Im lvl 42 by this point, dragons dont really phase me much. Are they scary and big? Yes but not something i couldnt handle with a couple of iron arrows, 5 poisons and good aim. I see arrows that arnt mine being shot at the dragon while i kill it and i see my new mother in law running into the longhouse of the stronghold after its dead so i just assume, everything is alright. Dragon's dead, i saved my in laws but i still cant find my fuckin wife. So i follow what the guide says and fast travel to riften.
I choose to appear infront of the gates of riften instead of the much closer jarls house thing because i just got a bunch of Dragon bones and scales, im overencumbered, i wanna make some money. As im about to start walking and turn to go to the pawned prawn, shit you not, up comes padding the fucking courier. See, awhile back, i started the portion of the white phial mission and (spoilers) ive been waiting for neurelion to just die already so i can get the phial. I assume "finally! I can get the phial!" Nope. The courier tells me i have some inheritance, sorry for your loss, leaves. Now im abit sad, cause see i assume its one of the beggars in the game as i like to walk up and give them the gold everytime im in town. I have an absurd amount of gold so i dont really mind. However, if the beggar dies in the game, they can give you the inheritance. I was sad cause i like the beggar characters and it'll suck to go to a shopping district without paying them a visit.
As im reading through the inheritance letter thing, i notice the name is not one i recognize. Its chief ka-something. Im thinking " who tf is that?" Then it hits me. The orc stonghold that just got attacked, my new wife is the daughter of the chief... Did my father in law just die?? I didnt see his body?? So i say fuck this shit and fast travel right back to the stronghold. Im looking around and i see the mom up and walking around and as i turn the cornor of the fence, in typical skyrim fashion, theres dead grandma all proped up on her knees and leaning back like shes about to do a sick slide. Then i glance to my right and right infront of the door to the long house is, shit you not, the body of my missing wife's dad.
I may get too much into character when i play skyrim cause all i can imagen is that this orc stronghold was peachy till this hot shot little nerdy argonian boy came trottn in. He arm wrestled the chief and offered to marry his daughter so he could get the resources and she could get her freedom. Everything is fine until after the wedding and suddenly their daughter fuckin gose missing after silently leaving her own ceremony. The family just returns the stronghold confused and late that night, the new son in law pops up just outside the gate and peaks in then looks like hes about to leave before, what they can only assume, is the boy's pissed dragon-uncle, comes swooping in and kills their leader and matriarch. The boy kills the dragon then just fucking leaves without saying anything. They file the death. The chief wanted somethin to be left for his daughter's new non-traditional family so 100g gets drained from the bank account. Then a day later he shows up and starts standing over the corpses looking incredibly confused.
Oh and to top it all off, just when i was about to go back and try the waiting outside thing, my game crashes :) everything resets to the moment i finished the dawnguard mission. I have never met my wife or this family i brought dragony harm upon and ive elected to take that as a sign that perhaps i am not to marry that orc woman and will infact, never return to their stronghold again :)
Is ok, my character has known and interacted with Vivienne from solitude more so now i get rp as my guy building a house for them(windsetd) and everyone around them knowing my guy has a massive crush and will propose anyday and they knkw because hes been around the potion shop more often and hes been buying ALOT of building materials suddenly :)
He(i) also got to directly save her from a dragon attack by killing a dragon that was in the shopping district of solitude. :) i cant wait to marry those two
