Author’s Note: For this, I’m saying you and Bruce started dating after Tim was Robin but before Jason resurfaced. This is mostly based on that when Bruce fell in love, he fell hard. I used this fluff alphabet template from snk-warriors ! (not based on any Bruce, just used PatBat for the gif!)

Activities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?As much as he can dread going to galas because he’s been to so many, his perspective has changed since being with you. Sure, Dick, Jason, and Tim (and eventually the others) made them interesting in their own ways, but they’re so much better with you by his side. He also loves relaxing with you, watching a movie in bed, especially after a hard night, and just being with you always makes him happy. 

Beauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them? Bruce is enamored with you. He loves every little thing about you and thinks you’re beautiful all over. He could never pick a favorite because he loves everything. Aside from outer beauty, he appreciates how open you are to everything that’s thrown your way and thinks that is beautiful, too. Hell, when you first found out he was Batman, before freaking out, you just said, “oh.”

Comfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?Bruce has learned how to handle his own panic attacks, so he has some ideas when he finds you breaking down for the first time. You were hidden in one of the libraries, trying not to disturb anyone while trying to calm yourself down. He didn’t intend to find you like that, but he happened to walk past the library and heard crying. When he realized what was going on, he sat next to you, arms around you and whispering things he thought would help calm you down. Good affirmations, song lyrics, whatever he could think of. Just being there for you helps, and he’ll sit with you for as long as it takes.

Dreams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?Bruce didn’t expect it at first, but he’s been thinking about your life and future together for a while. Sometimes it freaks him out that he can have this commitment of a relationship that he hopes lasts, but then he realizes that if you didn’t leave when you found out about him being Batman, could anything else make you leave? 

Equal - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?He likes to think he is, but everyone (including him) knows you’re the one in charge. Though, you let him think he’s in charge…well, sometimes ;)

Fight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?If Bruce is one thing, it’s stubborn. He’s very determined to be right, and though he hates arguing with you, he hates admitting he was wrong even more. But over the years and as you both have grown in maturity and understanding that you know you guys have to talk about things to get through the hardest of times, and he usually forgives pretty easily (as do you). 

Gratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?It definitely took him a little bit, but he fully sees everything you do for him. You keep him grounded and sane when the life of Bruce Wayne and Batman become too much, and he will never take that for granted.

Honesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?Obviously, the whole secret identity thing was a secret for a while. But once he told you (pretty early in your relationship because he almost kept slipping up), the only thing he keeps secret anymore is when he gets hurt and when he’s in deeper in a case than first expected. You always get him to spill the secrets, though. One look of concern, and he folds.

Inspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?Bruce definitely changed when he met you. He was always seen as a playboy who would never be tied down, but when he met you, he couldn’t think about anyone else. After being together for a while, he didn’t have to worry about the playboy cover anymore, and he was much happier overall. At first, the Justice League didn’t know what caused Batman’s demeanor with them to change so much, but once they figured out it was a new relationship, they were ecstatic. You had such an effect on him that it changed Bruce and Batman (though Batman was less noticeable), but Bruce wouldn’t change it for the world.

Jealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?For Bruce, it really depends on the situation. However, most times, he does get jealous easily. It’s about how he handles it. If you’re at a party and some random person is flirting with you, he tries to be sly and put his arm around you or kiss your cheek. Usually, it’s enough to give them the hint, and they leave you alone. But with the more determined people, he also has to be a bit more aggressive. If they don’t get the hint with his subtle moves, he tells them to shut it down. If that doesn’t work, he cuts off the whole conversation (muttering something about “respect”), and you two leave the area. It was funny the first time you met the League, and some of them were looking at you in a certain way. They teased him about his jealousy for weeks (and sometimes still do).

Kiss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?Bruce is definitely a good kisser; he has had some practice. That’s how he’s gotten his cover to work so well for so long, right? But when you first kissed, it was different than you expected. Of course, you’ve read the gossip sites seeing so many girls talk about their kiss with Bruce Wayne, and it all seemed so different from when you two first kissed. You met at a party, not even realizing he was the Bruce Wayne at first, and he was stunned by you since the first conversation. You kept running into each other, and one night, after an unexpected deep conversation, he made the move. 

Love Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?He’s always been a bit nervous about love and was even more nervous when he realized he had some scary, loving feelings about you. But he was too scared to ever say it. One night, you two got into an argument because you felt like he was hiding things from you (to be fair, he was, but it wasn’t what you thought). You were worried that he didn’t trust you and that your relationship wouldn’t go anywhere. You told him that you love him, but you can’t keep going in a relationship where he’s hiding things. He decided right then and there that he loved you so much that he let you in on every secret he had. You definitely freaked out internally (refer to B for external) when he told you he’s a vigilante crime fighter (and so are his kids), but he trusted you enough to tell you everything. It proved his love and trust.

Marriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?It’s never been something you guys needed; you pretty much act like a married couple anyway. But it would make things legally easier, so there were a few benefits. One of the benefits is Bruce being able to say that he’s your husband. He proposed very casually, keeping it chill and private between the two of you. There were no kids in the house, and you two were just enjoying your time together. He left you in the library for a moment while he snuck away, and after a few minutes, he came back and showed you the small box. He kept it simple and sweet, with just “Will you marry me?” Even though it was casual, it still caught you by surprise. The marriage is a lot like your dating status, as you two are very close, but not much changed besides the legalities.

Nicknames - What do they call their s/o?He likes to stick to simpler names like “hon” and  “darling,” but he struggles when he’s out as Batman. He’s been trying to give you a good codename for years for when he needs to talk to you when he’s out on the field, but nothing has stuck. So it’s safe to say that the majority of the criminals have figured out that Batman has some type of relationship, because who else would Batman be calling “darling?”

On Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?It’s obvious for literally everyone except Bruce. He may be good at hiding his emotions and masking parts of his personality, but once he fell in love with you, he was the last one to know. He looks at you like he has hearts in his eyes, is so focused on you, and talks about you constantly. He always has his arm around you and makes sure you are protected against anything. Once he realized it, it was like he was hit by a truck. The only person that knew after he did was you. 

PDA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?Oh, Bruce loves some light PDA. He’ll brag about you to others for hours, and when you’re at parties together, it’s unusual for him to not be at your side. He’s usually got his arm around you or sneaks small kisses onto your cheek. He’s always been very “flaunting” when he was in his Brucie Wayne era, but even more so now that he has a stable and happy relationship. He wants to show everyone!

Quirk - Some random ability they have that's beneficial in a relationship.(This one is just slightly nsfw). Batman is just a normal guy with a lot of money that allows him to pay for some really cool and interesting gadgets. He doesn’t have superpowers, but he has super cool items that could possibly have double uses. While the gadgets are all only! for! work!, he may break that rule sometimes. One of his most interesting gadgets is the camera contact lenses. They’re very helpful for getting all the details of a case if he misses in the moment, but they also make for…some special moments ;) Not what you were first expecting, but it definitely makes it exciting and certainly a random ability.

Romance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?Bruce wasn’t known as Brucie “Playboy” Wayne for no reason; he’s the romantic. He may be busy at nights, but he makes sure to make it up to you other nights and days. He’ll plan little dates and surprises; sometimes it’s as simple as having flowers or chocolate delivered in the middle of the day. He can be both creative and cliché, but they both work, and he knows how to make you swoon.

Support - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?More than anything! He believes in you sometimes more than you believe in you. No matter what you want and dream of, he’s right there supporting you. Even if he can’t always physically be there, you know he’s so proud of everything you do, and he makes sure you know it. Anytime you’re having doubt, he pulls out all the stops and reassures you that he fully supports and believes in you; you’re doing everything right.

Thrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice up your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?Bruce certainly likes a routine, but he’s not afraid of changing things up if needed. The routine of work, dinner, patrol, relax with you, then bed, always works well, but he also knows it can’t always be that way. He adjusts when things change, which may be random weekdays or holidays where the schedule moves around. However, changing things up is not needed for your relationship.

Understanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?Bruce has struggled with showing and picking up on emotions, but ever since being with you, he’s gotten much better. He knows you well, can pick up when something’s wrong, and knows when he needs to help or step away. Some days he gets it wrong, and that’s okay, but he’s usually pretty spot on. At least, in the later years, he is. Bruce was much worse at telling when you guys first got together.

Value - How important is the relationship to them? What is it’s worth in comparison to other things in their life?He may not have thought it at first, but after being together for more than just a few months, this relationship is so important to him. You are part of his family, and he doesn’t know how he went so long in life without you and can’t imagine his life now if you weren’t in it. His kids like you, you get along with all his friends, and you make the boring parties he has to go to so much more fun. It would destroy him if you weren’t in his life, and he is so grateful and values you so much.

Wild Card - A random Fluff Headcanon.You and Bruce started dating before Jason resurfaced, but Bruce told you all about him. Dick and Tim really liked you, and he kept saying that Jason would’ve loved you, too. You were a bit insecure around the kids at first, trying to gain their approval (even though it didn’t matter, they were just happy that Bruce was in love), and it got even harder when you finally learned the Batman secret. He explained everything to you, including Jason’s death and eventual revival. You were shocked when Bruce told you that Jason was actually alive and in Gotham, and you were scared out of your mind to meet him. Not because he’s the Red Hood, no, because you’re dating Bruce! You didn’t have to worry about meeting him for a while because there was still bad blood between Jason and Bruce, but the day Jason showed up at the Manor was shocking. He freaked out when he found you in the Batcave, and started questioning who you are and why you were there. You tried to explain yourself, but Jason wouldn’t hear it. Luckily, Bruce wasn’t too far behind Jason’s arrival and quickly explained that you two are dating, which ended up with him rambling about how much he loves you and that you know everything. It didn’t take long for Jason’s approval to be obvious after that.

XOXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?Oh yeah, Bruce loves a good makeout session followed by some sweet cuddling. He’s very busy between Wayne Enterprises and Batman, but he makes sure there’s time for you two to be together. Before there was a whole army of people involved in Batman Inc., you two could be found pretty much anywhere in the manor or cave kissing or cuddling. But with so many kids around now, you two tend to make sure you’re in your room. (Even just cuddling, as it usually leads to lots of kissing. And you don’t need Damian screaming again.)

Yearning - How will they cope when they're missing their partner?He won’t admit it, but he pouts. Maybe not an actual “lip pout,” but he really does hate being away from you. Again, he’s very business with both jobs, so for any extended trip for either Wayne Enterprises or the Justice League, he’s upset about it. But he knows once he gets home, it’s going to be the best time just being able to be with you.

Zeal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind of? He’s Batman; of course, he’ll do anything for you. Not too long after you two went public with your relationship, you were targeted by some low-level criminals Brucie Wayne could’ve taken out. But he still sent in the big guns and made sure Batman was there to send a message to not fuck with Bruce Wayne and his family. He’d go to the ends of the Earth for you, making sure you’re safe and protected. One time he almost accidentally revealed his identity when you were targeted for the first time in years. But he wouldn’t have cared about that as long as you were safe in the end.

This is such a difficult question to answer, I can’t pick 😭 Pretty much every title that we watch or read or play has a bunch of characters that I adore drawing, but I guess I gravitate towards characters with long hair and unusual hairstyles or outfits?? I also feel the urge to try to draw a character when they are out of my comfort zone, which doesn’t mean that I always do it or good at it, but I always have fun drawing stuff in a different art style (like the guys from Scott Pilgrim),with complicated outfits (like Barok van Zieks) or with mechanic parts (like Ortho!)… but the last one is pretty recent, I just noticed that I kind of enjoy drawing it. I guess I love a challenge? In a way? It’s just more fun that way.

By my comfort type of character and a default option would be a gloomy boy/girl in a hoody, my heart is always smiling whenever I draw this type.

Examples of some of my faves throughout the years (without twst): Levi (SnK), Ainosuke (sk8), Killua (HxH), Shiroba (DMMD), Apollo Justice (AA), Geto (JJK)… this is just a few of them.

I also still think that Prussia from Hetalia is our ultimate boy because I’ve been drawing him for about 15 years now lol

I still giggle every time I think about how we ended up with poor Riddle being surrounded by busty girls, I swear it wasn’t intentional. But the more I think about it, the funnier and more Freudian it gets… what an aggressive way to heal mommy issues and an acute deficiency of tight hugs.

To answer your question, I think Riddle was kind of surprised when she saw Trey after being separated because she didn’t think boobs could get that big. Logically yes, it makes sense, but seeing it in person is different. Riddle always does her best to be proper and act like a lady, but I can imagine her eyes sliding down all the time during their first conversation. Trey would absolutely notice…

Riddle is indeed very curious, and it’s pretty obvious, but she would never talk about it or even ask to touch Trey’s boobs, but maybe one day… you know, for science… or Trey is just going to offer it herself lol save that girl, Trey.

Honestly? If Riddle could just bury her face in Trey’s chest for a minute or two, I think a lot of her tantrums would just… not happen. She would be so calm…

"eren isn't an average person" anon here.

i had to vent, because, after the ending, i've been seeing many weird takes about the point of snk being to show what war can do to an ordinary person, or that everyone would do the same in eren's shoes. when people aren't saying that eren was just a cornered good guy or giving excuses that there was no other way other than the rumbling.

even if i can understand where isayama was going with the ending, i feel he kinda fumbled? i really think the way he wrote it gave the fandom what they wanted the most: many ways to justify what eren did and water down/erase the bad image of eren that the rumbling left on them. i got impressed how showing eren in a slightly more sympathetic light in chapter 139 made many people yell "i knew it. i knew he wasn't the bad guy" at the top of their lungs, others even considering he was redeemed and calling him a hero, since his actions ended up saving his close friends (despite they got in real danger and almost died most part of the last arcs).

the chapter technically doesn't redeem him, but the way it was delivered made many people see eren as "just a boy" again, and that the "bad eren" was completely a facade, because they'd desperately trying to disassociate what they think the real eren is from the things he was doing post-timeskip at every opportunity. people couldn't handle that eren is everything together.

many stuff contributed with that: not showing the consequences of the rumbling properly (post-rumbling); the rumbling not affecting the 104; all the main characters alive crying eren's death and implied to visit his grave; "thanks for becoming a mass murder for our sake" - even if armin was only trying to comfort eren before his death; excessively cute eremin and eremika without a drop of real resentment scenes; ending the original 139 with mikasa thanking eren for wrapping the scarf around her (inviting the readers to remember the good things he did), and associating him symbol with a bird, a symbol of freedom; etc.

anyway, here i am venting again lmao

ps: i swear i'm not an anr enjoyer/er*hisu. i'm just an average ending hater who felt isayama got so close yet so far to deliver something memorable.

Where I differ is that I don't mind the idea of the ending. I think it does exactly what Isayama set out to do. Concept wise it's not a fumble. If you read the August 2017 BSM interview, that's pretty clear:

I don’t think the series passes judgment on what is “right” or “wrong.” For example, when I read Furuya Minoru’s “Himeanole,” I knew society would consider the serial killer in the story unforgivable under social norms. But when I took into account his life and background I still wondered, “If this was his nature, then who is to blame…?”

But considering the root of the issue, rather than evaluating “what is right” […] I think that’s what Shingeki no Kyojin’s ending will resemble.

Isayama was never interested in establishing right or the wrong. His goal was to write a sympathetic character who was twisted both by nurture and nature to do unthinkable repugnant things. Rather than dictate morality, Isayama's goal was to let reader determine how they felt about it. This is exactly what we've seen in the fandom with people on all sides when it comes to judgment on Eren.

But I do agree that the ending was harmed by the issues that have plagued the series as a whole - terrible pacing, inconsistent tone, and too much emphasis on the mystery instead of the resolution. This series is a case study for "interesting ideas clumsily executed". It all culminated in a speeding train wreck of an ending.

As I write those words, I want to say again, I like the concept of the ending. While the whole "Thanks for becoming a mass murderer" vibe makes my skin crawl, I don't mind the actual events that happened. If the story and the ending had been presented to me as a bulleted list, I'd think it was outstanding.

As far as the ending being embraced by the worst of humanity as a justification for their hatred and bigotry, I don't know what to say about that. On one hand I've often wished Isayama had done more to discourage that or had spoken out against it, but then I think about how it is often the goal of authors to pick at the scabs of social issues and leave them festering and open. This series might have been a gateway for some into fascism, but flip that around and it was also a gateway for exposing it. The series has made me more aware of the issues in my own country and has strengthened my resolve to fight back on things I might have otherwise ignored.

This is long. I hope it makes sense. Thanks again for sharing your viewpoint.

I've only dated one person in my life for ten years and he's still my current boyfriend. I've never cheated, and I don't intend to, but when someone is cute, hot, or pretty, I say so. Either man or woman.

I'm attracted to beauty in any form.

However...

A couple of times, guys have approached during the bus ride home. One sit next to me and started talking to me. He wasn't awkward nor he made feel uncomfortable; he was nice, and outgoing indeed. Suddenly, he asked me out, (a bold move) just like that, I didn't even know his name. I said no because I had a boyfriend, though he insisted. He looked so young, I'd say eighteen in that time, and I was twenty-four. The second one, it was even funnier. The guy was sitting on the row in front of me. I saw him taking out a notebook and scribbling down something I thought he was taking notes from a class or something related to uni. But then, he turned around and handed me a piece of paper. I unfolded it and it said I was really pretty. I swear I had to bite my lips to hold back my laugh, because he could see me from the driver's rearview mirror. I didn't know what to do, because those situations make me too shy. Thank God, he dropped two stops before I did and never saw him again.

I don't know why I feel more comfortable around younger people. I guess we share more interests rather than with people my age. Most of my high school classmates are married or have kids, and I'm here watching snk and writing fics of Levi. xD

If you plan on spending the night at his apartment, he's definitely going to be on his computer with the boys

If he notices you're upset by the time he's done he will definitely make it up to you by being extra affectionate while you get ready for bed

Whenever he loses a couple matches he'll be extra intense during sex, and he might be more needy/desperate for your touch afterwards too what a baby

Knows he can get in the zone™ and will play for hours, but makes an effort to respect you and your time together!

Will always be down to play games with you (it's his way of bonding with you/spending quality time together), but he will also quit mid-match to watch a movie or do something with you

Will call the other boys virgins for making fun of him whenever he signs off early to go to bed with you, very proud of your relationship and talks about it with the boys a lot (or more like at them, just so happy to talk about the day you spent at the museum, or the new coffee place you tried, etc)

If he's getting smoked by an opponent he'll take it personally, getting way too offended by the twelve year old he's arguing with, do he'll roast the kid and brag about having a super hot girlfriend, and then get demolished in-game by said kid

ARMIN:

The best at every video game. The traditional gamer boyfriend

Has the tinted glasses that help reduce eye strain, stays up all night playing video games oh lord

Will show you games like Sid Meier's Civilizations 6 and gets so excited!!

"(y/n) look! Each leader has different attributes with their culture and historical background!" he's so cute

But if you get confused in a game good luck

He's a great teacher at everything...except video games

"What do you mean you don't understand why the barbarians keep killing you? You're attacking them with scouts and they have spears, sweetie"

It just comes so easily to him and he can't comprehend how you don't get the basic mechanics of these games

Is always the MVP during their match games because he just "does his job"

Extremely attractive to listen to and watch while he's in a match with the boys, he's be so casually doing a hundred things and can still communicate with Jean and tell him how to coordinate his attack's with Connie's AoE (area of effect)

Probably the most forgetful when it comes to you and your plans together? Only when video games are involved this man is DEDICATED otherwise!

His excuse is that it's really hard for the five boys to find time to play! Do you really want him to be the only guy not online? Can't the movie wait one more hour? So he can play another round?

If he sees he's upset you or that you've started the movie without you he'll just slip under the blankets next to you on the couch and apologize, promising that he's all yours for the rest of the night

Insists you play Minecraft together and will collect flowers for you (and then will surprise you irl with flowers ahh)

Will get hard if you refer to him by his gamertag hahahahahaha

CONNIE:

Okay so he's a streamer let's get one thing straight

Fairly decent following, plays a variety of games for his streams (but not League/DOTA because their team sucks hahah)

I don't have many hcs about him as a team member for their DOTA/League matches, but he's always cracking jokes and keeping things light. Usually support, not the best but definitely not the worst yk?

Probably the shittiest type of loser though!! When he starts to lose he just gives up and fucks around

Losing their DOTA match? Why don't we go fuck around and bother Jean for a bit

Plays scary games and will make you watch, then makes you check the closet before you go to bed

Every time he sees a female/love interest in a game he goes "eh they're mid, NOTHING compared to (y/n)"

One time he didn't think you heard him so he said it again, louder, but then he realized you weren't even in the house you were out with your parents oops

Doesn't get emotional when it comes to games? "They're not real characters bro"

When he has plans to game with the boys you can tell because he can be super impatient lol

But he doesn't mean to be!! He just knows that they'll be waiting for him, that's all

He loves you so much and loves spending time with you, but he promised he'd be online by 7:00 and it's 7:03, but it's fine

Doesn't even do it in a shitty way! He won't try and make you leave whatever shop you're at he's just excited to play when he gets back, is all

He will play what're game you want to play, but hesitates when you ask to be on his streams?

That's the online time he gets insecure about how he's behaving while on-stream otherwise he doesn't give a fuck

He wants to impress you so bad omg

Also worried about your safety and well-being

He knows you can handle the bad comments and you can brush them off (and if you can't, he's there for you with ice cream and your favorite movie), but he feels so helpless, like he can't protect his girl

But ultimately if you want to be on camera he brings an extra chair over (and lets you get the comfy one)

You'll bring dinner over while he's gaming and he'll kiss you quick, saying "Thanks, mama", and will say things like "guys, isn't (y/n) the best?"

PORCO:

First of all he's probably the odd man out of this group lmaoo

But they needed a fifth member of their team and he's my favorite so

Angry like Eren, but not as loud? Usually just more grumpy than anything? And similar to Armin he just tries to go in and do his damn job, so he's a decent member of their playgroup

Connie and Eren's fans like Porco and his voice but he's scared about making his own channel because he thinks he'd embarrass himself

Is very flattered by all the female attention he gets from his friends' streams, but doesn't get why that bothers him?

It's not the attention that bothers you, but it's the fact that he doesn't mention the fact that he's in a relationship? He tells you "it hasn't been brought up organically yet"

After sleeping on the couch he does mention it next time Connie streams and says he is very happy with you

Eren calls him a simp and Jean asks if you're standing behind him with a knife or something

He's a pro at multitasking between the games and you. A pro at muting his mic and chatting with you casually in between playing and talking with his team like their lives are at stake

If this is in a college AU/setting, he's online the least because he "has a life"? He is ashamed as his identity as a gamer but once he knows you really love him he embraces that part of him more <3

Honestly I can't see him as a big solo player game, unless it's like FIFA or some other sports game. Or GTA lmaoo

Will play Minecraft with you but builds the shittiest houses ever?? And dies so much you end up carrying him

I bet he loves to gossip lmaoo

After a night of gaming he'll help you paint your nails and complain about how Eren costed them a match by trying to get revenge on one player instead of going for the win

He's also a great listener and will let you complain to him about any workplace drama or anything you want to talk about, really. He remembers all of your coworkers names

He's really good at painting your nails and likes doing it because it reminds you "how skilled he is with his fingers" and maybe he likes seeing your freshly manicured nails wrapped around him too

Is extremely passionate in bed but is 10x more cocky if they won a match thanks to him, or if he played a big part in their success!

i'm behind in watching snk season 4 because i don't like watching stuff with big gaps and breaks between episodes, but you're telling me that after waiting for sEasOn 4 PaRt 3 people were given a single 1h episode and were told to wait again till the end of this year f o r t h e a c t u a l e n d i n g? i swear i was making that joke like a year ago but i actually thought mappa has more dignity. guess i'm gonna add ANOTHER calendar note in NOVEMBER that snk is coming out. i have already a couple of those in my old calendars, and they're all about season 4. like i'm not hating the studio or animators who have a lot of work and need time to draw it, i understand it... to the degree. but it's too much of a stretch and it seems like they want to milk this franchise so much. i'm disappointed and surprised.

it's been already 3 years since season 4 is airing. they could have done so many things - divide it for a couple of seasons from the start, announce an official schedule of episodes, inform people that each release is not an actual ending yet. but they didn't and and i blame the studio for this - not the animators, but the studio run by corporate rats. my complaint is - they don't respect the fans. if they did, they wouldn't play this little game so many times. ✨ oh, season 4 is coming out - the last season ;) ouch, sorry, now wait for part two, real ending of the season :)) whoops, now it's part 3, i promise, the last one ;)) auch, sorry guys, i promise, this year it's gonna end, believe me ;P ✨ honestly, fuck them. during these 3 years i managed to read the whole manga, hate the ending, grieve, accept the ending, and already forget the ending and not care about it at all. i managed to give the ending a new chance with upcoming animated adaptation, but it's been stretched so much that i pretty much feel nothing about snk right now, and i'm still waiting for the feelings to be revived when i finally watch the whole season 4, but, well... not yet 🙃

i'm glad people are still enjoying this anime and they're very excited for a new release every time, and they praise the animators for a good work. but we should address the issues that does exist. the studio fucked up and gaslights the fans, that's not cool and it makes me feel bitter about this anime. i shouldn't feel bitter - i should feel excited and well informed.

a/n: first fic of the year, hope u guys enjoy and happy new year!!! snk in 7 day, i can't wait holy shit. its so sad it's the last time we wait for an snk season drop though..

god he hated this godawful deal. levi never wanted to become apart of this whole "scout corps", though if it meant that isabel and farlan would be safe and out of the underground then so be it. however protecting them would be much more difficult while dealing with giant sized blood thirsty creatures than the usual grimy members of the underground mafia.

most of all he hated that blonde guy he fought. erwin smith. the man that humiliated levi in front of everyone and forced him to join the army. his priority was to kill him off as quick as he could.

"Introduce yourselves"

"the name's levi" he mumbled half-heartedly, taking a look at the surprised faces of the soldiers in front of him, shocked from his forwardness and lack of respect for the commander. all except a young girl who didn't seem to care one bit. soon isabel and farlan introduced themselves and the commander went on with his speech.

"flagon this three will be joining your squad under y/l/n's training. look after them. y/l/n have i been made clear?" silence.

everyone turned their eyes to stare at the girl as she remained silent and gazed up at the sky paying no attention to the conversation whatsoever. what a weird person. a soldier with brown hair and little square glasses lightly shook who levi would guess was y/l/n, snapping her out of trance and looking around frantically to see if anyone would notice that their friend had been so out of it that she hadn't even heard half of what the commander said.

"yes sir"

"did you even listen to what i was saying?"

"i will do my best to train those three" she exclaimed strictly saluting the commander "you needn't worry. i will shape them into the finest scout members" levi was slightly taken aback by how she was able to snap back in reality as quick but didn't pay that much mind as the commander nodded and kept on with his announcements.

"you guys have been living in the underground for all your lives so try to keep this place clean alright?" who the fuck did this man even think he was? levi wanted to snap his neck and if they were still in the underground, where they had no rules he definetely fucking would. before he had any chance to respond, a familiar presence leaned against the doorframe and glared daggers at flagon.

"would you dare to repeat what you just said, dear flagon? didn't quite catch that" she spoke. her voice was so elegant and smooth in contrast to her visibly annoyed expression "don't you think its rude to talk about people from the underground like that, especially when your superior is one too?"

"forgive me y/l/n i didn't mean to-"

"know your place. leave, i will show the girl her room myself" sighing, flagon exited the room in a trance of anger. he must have really hated her guts despite the respect he forced to show. "come on sweetie, I'll show you your room" her voice was much softer now as she looked at isabel with a sweet smile. now it was almost like she was a different person from the commander's speech and the woman that stood in front of them now.

"oh my god! you are so cool! are you from the underground too? i've never seen you there!!" isabel exclaimed happily as y/l/n laughed at the naive and kind nature of the girl "shes so pretty too" isabel was right. that woman was beautiful.

"didn't need your help" levi spoke slapping the back of isabel's head lightly, saving her from the embarrassment "i could deal with this myself"

"i have no doubts. however i would greatly appreciate if you came to me whenever someone speaks ill of you due to the place you- the place where i come from. come on sweetie, lets go" and with that she left with isabel quick on her tail, following like an excited puppy.

soon levi and the gang came to realize that the woman of the name y/n y/l/n wasn't just a random scout assigned to train them, but the best soldier the scout corps had. her skills were sharpened into perfection and her strength/mobility was worth the power of an entire army. her training wasn't easy either as they had to keep up in order to become the best version of themselves and survive.

isabel had also started to call her 'big sister' much to levi's dismay as he didn't want to get to close to anyone in case they betrayed them and ruined his plans to assassinate erwin smith. she also seemed to be close with erwin, another reason as to why they didn't need to get close. levi respected her enough to not mingle her into his devious plans concerning her friend

much to his surprise she called him over to her office for dinner with the excuse that she wanted to talk to him about important matters, concerning his skills and progress.

"you and erwin seem to be very close, is he your boyfriend or something?" levi had asked the girl as he watched her choke on the piece of beef she was chewing

"do you always ask people such personal questions, levi?" he hated how her name rolled so easily off her tongue "and no, he is the one that saved me from the underground like he saved you. i owe him my life and he's like an older brother" he nodded and looked down at his food as he heard her shift and suddenly her soft voice was nothing more than a whisper a few centimeters away from his ear "you wouldn't happen to know anyone that would want to hurt erwin, levi, do you?" cold sweat washed over levi. did she know? he didn't want to get her out of the picture but if it was crucial to his and his friend's safety he would have to

"wouldn't know" he had simply opted to say turning to stare into her e/c eyes, faces an inch away from the other's "wouldn't care" smirking she sat back in her seat taking in a bite of the meat that had started growing cold.

"god i really wish the chefs would actually know how to cook, the meat is so stiff, my boots could be more appetizing. the tea is also really shitty, it's more like bitter hot water? no?" he watched closely as complained, curious to know whether she was suspicious of him or not.

"i've noticed. there's so many types of tea up here and noone seems to appreciate and take the time to learn how to brew it correctly"

"that's why i am here" she chuckled taking out a pair of teacups from under her office, followed by a beautiful matching teapot "after erwin's uncle and his father brought me into the surface when i was a child, mr smith taught me botanology while i was growing up, here take a sip" she rambled as she poured the hot liquid into his porcelain cup "sadly the corps need me so i can't really do what im actually good at" what even isnt she good at? levi had thought. the tea was perfect, better than any he had before "it sounds lame but i would love to open a tea shop. maybe one day, doubt it but it never hurts to dream"

"you dont lack in the tea making. im actually impressed, i would be a regular if it would be you making my tea" she didn't mean to blush and he definetely didn't mean for his words to come out as flirty "tea isn't what you called me here for, am right?"

"you are correct. levi, i want to ask you a favor" and just like that she was back to her formal self "become stronger than me, promise me you'll become stronger and take my place"

"you have power, why would you want to lose it like that"

"never said i'd lose it, do as i say, its an order"

"what kind of order is that?"

"a special order. from me" something was definetely troubling her and she just didnt feel that he had to know the real reason behind her orders. she thought he wouldn't even care "i hate being a leader. im indecisive and don't think a lot of things through, believe it or not that causes a lot of troubles for the corps. as much strength and skills i have, strategy is not my thing and im tired. you're an incredibly smart and strategic person. can i rely on you to take my place, levi?"

"is there more to it? it can't be just that"

"its a personal matter. im vulnerable in this position alone. i want someone to have my back and that person is you. please dont ask me anything more, just- just promise"

"then..." their eyes were locked from across the table as she awaited for his answer "i will get ten times as strong as you are now and i vow to prote- to have your back" he let out watching her sigh in relief and smile at him sadly.

"thank you, levi"

it was a warm night when levi decided to take a stroll to the rooftop of the scout corps headquarters. to be exact, 2 days before levi's first impact with an actual titan and 2 days before his assassination plan would be put to work.

and so, with the tea y/n had brewed for him earlier, before she had rushed off to take care of some business, he walked enough to find a quiet place to gaze upon the walls at. it was then when he had noticed that he was actually not alone in the rooftop. a woman not any more than 20 feet away from him was standing a little too close near the edge. levi couldn't make out who the woman was, yet he slowly lowered his belongings to the ground, trying to be as quiet as possible so that he wouldn't startle her. his queue to run and tackle the woman to the ground came when she turned around, back faced towards the void, opening her arms and preparing to fall. then he finally got to look at her face

"you know it's rude to tackle people to the floor, it makes you look unsettling" she was the first to speak after they both caught their breath. he had hoped to see her the least scared, yet she was unphased. emotionless.

"said the person that tried killing herself two seconds ago, now that is unsettling" sitting up she pulled her knees to her chest and laid her head to the railing, eyes fixated on the sky "do you have something to say?"

"will i always feel as empty as i do now? i would have died two minutes ago and it just feels like a normal tuesday to me" she chuckled "not a single star in the sky tonight. mood-killer"

"you were planning this, weren't you? when you asked me to take your place, you wanted someone to replace you so that you dying wouldn't cause loss to the scouts"

"oh it wasn't obvious?" he raised an eyebrow at her question. did she really think her life was that meaningless? they might have not been that close yet she was a reliable and strong soldier. she was a person with unshakable character and most of all she was human and noone deserves a death like the one she was about to give herseld "im going back to my room i have to finish the paperwork i thought i would be free from"

"im gonna come with you"

"you're so forward levi, inviting yourself in a woman's room" she teased, her grin not reaching her eyes however "what is it to you anyways?"

"don't get any ideas. you still have to train me, you're not annoying and i wanna make sure you won't do anything stupid that will cost my tea in the morning" he said, helping her back on her feet as she looked at him curiousl. she must have thought it was humiliating, to be seen so vulnerable and naked in front of the eyes of her trainee "you dont have to tell my why. but dont try this again" his hand was still intertwined with her own, taking in how soft her skin felt against his.

"im glad you enjoy my tea, levi"

"you knew all along? you knew all along and you never stopped us?" no he couldn't have known. how could erwin have known?

"she knew all along" oh "you should thank her, actually, because of her you and your friends lived as long. you're still here because she protected you" and then it hit him.

"you wouldn't happen to anyone that would want to hurt erwin, levi, do you?"

"she only told me so i would watch my back but she made me promise to not lay a hand on you" why would she protect them even after knowing that he wanted to kill her dear friend? Just what was going on inside her head?

"i dont care, i do" the soft voice had spoken from the other side of the door, calm and collected as always.

it was a week since the expendition. a week after isabel and farlan lost their lives by the hands of an abnormal titan, which levi had slain. during this week, levi had been shutting himself off and distancing himself from y/n. he wasn't close with anyone else besides isabel, farlan and he didn't want to admit that him and his trainer-new squad leader after flagon's death- were close. everyone he was close to has left so far and there was nothing promising him she'd be the one to stay. he had decided that he would just avoid her until she got bored and just moved on with her life.

"my brother and i were brought here the same way you, isabel and farlan were. erwin's uncle was a commander so he brought us to the surface so we could join the scouts. i was very little so erwin and his father took me in until i was of age to decide whether or i would join the scouts too. erwin was the most adorable child, he had those little chubby red cheeks" she laughed recollecting memories of the distant past "my brother was a really good strategist but a weaker fighter, the opposite of me. on my first expendition i had to watch a titan rip him to shreds because i was too late. i reacted badly and did an overkill on the titan. i acted exactly how you did. i shut myself away from everyone. hange and erwin convinced me to come out and start training again" silence "what im trying to say is that we are alike. i know how you feel and you can always talk to me about your feelings. bottling them up did me no well-"

"you talk too much" levi grumbled slightly opening the door to let y/n in. he looked paler and skinnier than before. slowly she reached her hand to caress the skin over his cheekbones which were now more prominent. every fiber of his being screamed to just push her away, to cut her off completely. but how could he when she was so sweet to him? when she kept him so balanced. just why was levi so infatuated with her?

"we're getting food, let's go" her sweet tone had changed to a much harsher one now. when she saw that levi hadn't moved a muscle she grabbed his hand and tried to drag him out of the room but he just wouldn't bulge "do you think isabel and farlan would like you sulking your life away in here? let's go to eat and then i'll even read you a bedtime story if it's good enough to get you to sleep"

and it just hit levi that noone had ever treated him like she did. his mother died when he was a child and kenny raised him without an ounce of fondness , in other for him to adapt thick skin so he could face the world. he was older than isabel and farlan so he had to look after them at all times and yet, levi was left to fend for himself, unable to comfort his own self.

"brat"

"what did you just call me?" she questioned taken aback and slightly annoyed since her main goal was to take him out of his room and take care of him and he was just acting out of character all of a sudden "you know for the tough guy act you sell out you really are awkward and weird"

"shut up, brat"

"the hell are you smiling for?!" and it didn't take long to realize that she had never seen him smile before, however she decided to keep her thoughts to herself. internally she was screaming "come on let's go"

"you know, i really get jealous of those cute couples you see all around town, it's so cute" y/n complained during a festival held inside wall maria as she stared at a couple walking hand to hand "heh, levi, can you hold my hand too?"

"no" he mumbled as he watched the pouty face she made. god he never wanted to see her all sad like that, even if it was her playful teasings to get what she wanted. slowly his hand inched closer to her own, as if to test the waters. their fingers were softly touching each other, and then he took initiative to entangle them altogether as sudden electrism flowed their bodies from where their bodies had touched. the things he'd do to have her hand wrapped in his every time of the day "how come you're so jealous of couples, you've grown soft brat?"

"your hand is cold as a blade left out in the open during winter and no, its just, they always have each other no matter what, if you know what i mean"

"don't we always have each other too?"

"we do" she smiled "now who told you to stop holding my hand, captain?

CHAPTER TWO

104th + Vets + Others as Music Majors

As a music major (violin performance with piano accompaniment) I have always wondered what the SnK characters would be like. I will talk about their main instrument, general quirks, how good they are at theory, and what piece they’d play/conduct at their final recital (in case some of you are looking for classical music pieces UwU, i swear it’s not as boring as you think - you probably haven't listened to the right classical music)

Eren

This boy plays the trumpet for sure. He’s so loud irl, a trumpet just makes sense

He plays very, very well. Natural ability for the instrument but holy shit, he cannot sing for the life of him in aural skills

Is borderline tone deaf (we are worried how he passes his aural tests (though we suspect he pays Armin.))

Gets a few solos in the college’s brass band and really goes to town.

Is okay at music theory and harmony, but makes really, really stupid mistakes (like me irl theory is such a bitch guys)

In the practice rooms when he makes a mistake, he screams “FUUUCK!” and then continues to play - without fixing or correcting the mistake - and pretends it never happened

Mikasa

This girl plays piano like a champ. Been playing since she was like three and is so, so diligent about it

She is one of those all-around good musicians who is great at aural skills, theory/harmony, playing and gets her assignments submitted on the day they’re assigned. The girl has GOT to take it easy

Very shy in aural skills. When she has to sing for aural skills exams, she requests to go last 

She is one of the few musicians who enjoys practicing scales and arpeggios

A piece she plays well - Rhapsodie Espagnole, F. Liszt

Armin:

My sweet Aryan coconut plays the flute and the guy’s circular breathing is something else. Like the boy barely breathes. We are all so concerned when he is finished playing a piece because he sweats that much.

Books practice rooms way too much. No life outside of practicing until Eren and Mikasa stage an intervention when he is close to burning out. 

Armin LOVES composing and arranging. On his bedside locker, you’ll see tons of scores with loads of scribbles on them as he writes his next big thing. Writes cute pieces for his friends’ birthdays. He’s so thoughtful guys, I can’t

Reads books on the rules of harmony going to bed and he gets such a headache that he sleeps like a baby from them

Enjoys Baroque music (anything composed between 1600 - 1750) and as such, he enjoys playing the recorder

A piece he plays like a champ!

Sasha:

Saxophone and this girl plays with SO much enthusiasm. Such a joy to play. Great at both classical and jazz

This girl is so good at theory, has perfect pitch (like me uwu makes aural skills so easy) but really struggles with theory. 

Has joined the jazz band at college and is known around the college for being one of the best saxophonists in the degree. Often plays in bars to earn a bit of cash on the side with Mikasa accompanying 

One of those musicians that security has to pull her out of the practice rooms when the school is just two minutes to closing. Has once tried hiding in the cupboards to stay practicing after hours but is always caught

Her favourite piece: a bitta Dubois for your soul?

Jean

Wonderful classical guitarist. He knows what he is doing with those spindly fingers of his and he knows it can make women swoon… such a womanizer istfg (waits for the Mikasa will notice him if she ever comes out of her damn practice room omfg)

No, he goes all out. He looks so good, but I’m telling you he slicks his hair back and is wearing a tailored suit for his performances

Spends a regular amount of time practicing. He’s naturally good.

A bit on the tone deaf side like Eren when it comes to aural skills and singing, but at least he can admit it… unlike Eren who will continue to squawk.

Connie:

This boy plays percussion. Duh. 

Been playing for years but still gets a rush of excitement when playing the gong

Invites Sasha into the percussion room all the time and gets her to improvise on the glockenspiel or xylophone and he goes absolutely nuts and hits everything inside. Bass drum, gong, snare drum

Poor boy can’t get theory for the life of him. Nothing makes sense to him. Like what is an interval? He also only knows like five Italian expressions and said "SFORZANDO!" every time he's taking a shot. Someone help this boy, how did the pass the theory written exam for his audition?

Very devoted musician to his practicing but frequently suffers from burn out towards the end of the semester. One point it got really bad and he almost dropped out and turned to popular music but Jean and Sasha convinced him the phase was temporary 

Very grateful for them and always collabs with them as a result 

Final piece: I don't know how ppl pull this off in a school setting but anyway here's the concerto

Reiner:

Euphonium. Don’t convince me otherwise 

Big boi Reiner needs a big boi instrument 

Also a talented tenor though and he is one of the few people in the college’s choir that got in without singing being their primary instrument. This motivated him to pursue classical singing and euphonium as a double major

As such, has tried to coach Eren in singing. He tried… and he failed. 

Pretty solid at theory too and even tutors those struggling!

Bertholdt:

Double bassist. He’s very tall, it makes sense lol

A very talented instrumentalist but he isn’t interested in performing the same way his friends are, he is riddled with performance anxiety too much and that is 100% okay and valid. His interest lies in music therapy and the guy is such a sweetheart

Always hugs his friends after performances as he knows how nerve-wrecking they can be

Tchaikovsky stan to the extreme. He’s normally very reserved and shy but holy shit !!!! this boy loves the 1812 overture, no one loves it as much as him !!!! or his 1st symphony !!!! 

Fabulous at theory, rivalling Armin’s knowledge even

Annie:

Was stuck on thinking if she’d be a cellist or a soprano but I picked a cellist in the end???

And she is a fabulous cellist. 

Plays so beautifully but really doesn’t like Baroque music as much as Romantic and Contemporary music. 

Currently is principal cellist in the college orchestra, she’s so good, and is always a winner or runner up in the competitions at school!

Often visits other people in their practice rooms because she gets so bored and just wants to talk to people

She is good at everything but is so damn quiet and never participates that lecturers can’t get a good read off of her until she sits the exams

Zeke:

Another double bass player but he dabbles more in jazz than classical

Still a great classical player though

Stupidly passionate for Mahler (who can blame him, Mahler is fantastic) and won’t shut up about him. Loathes Wagner (again, who can blame him) and will rant about him for hours

He has ruined first dates for ranting about Wagner

“Seriously?! Sure, he composed a 15 hour opera and Tristan und Isolde is a beautiful piece… but how can people like Wagner, knowing he was an anti-semite and had five ongoing affairs with his wife… who blissfully turned a blind eye! She even wrote his biography for him! I can’t.” Same Zeke, we all hate Wagner

Absolute genius at theory, never gets anything wrong. People are envious. Doesn’t offer tutoring like Reiner though :(

Pieck:

Soprano, and a really good one.

She's so timid and quiet normally but on the stage, she really comes out. She's also very good at musical theatre!

Her favourite operas are Faust and Madam Butterfly, but no one sings Airs de Bijoux quite like her. Maybe it helps that she always helps that she SLAYS with her dresses and outfits on stage, so getting into the character of Marguerite isn't too hard

Another person with perfect pitch but people don't know because she's not the braggy type

Some of my singer friends irl are super against cigarettes, and I think Pieck would be too. On a night out, she's looking at all the singers, wind and brass players is smacking them out of people's hands. Any other instrumentalist is fine, just for those that use their lungs to play

Avoided dairy so much out of fear of building up excess phlegm that she now is lactose intolerant

Porco:

Trumpet player and he HATES Eren the most. They always compete on who is the better musician, but it's just a lot of hooting and making noise on the trumpets that no decision has ever been made

Teaches kids brass at your local music school on the weekend and also plays in the local army band. It's handy cash

Fantastic sense of rhythm. Him and Zeke do Steve Reich clapping rhythms for fun. (it stresses me tf out)

Ha, nerds.

Despite how confident he appears, he has terrible performance anxiety. He'll never sleep before a performance, and has to take a beta-blocker before every performance too.

It's one of the few times Eren and him get along; before a performance, they give each other angry pep talks.

Hope ya like Gershwin! (hehe, accompanying my friend playing this in a month)

Hange:

Oboist.

Always jokes with Connie about how the oboe sounds like a duck and the boy is always in hysterics. They should be over this joke by now, they have been playing oboe for YEARS

They have NO sense of rhythm. What even is counting??? (Same Hange, same) In their rehearsals for their performance exam, the accompanists are always angrily counting (shouting) out the main beats 

Still a fabulous player, plays with so much expression and their fingers go ZOOM 

Also like Armin in that she sometimes forgets to breathe. The girl is always drenched in sweat after playing a hard piece. Hange take a breath pls. Sometimes Levi and Erwin have to hold her steady after a performance

Genius at theory also. One of those students that has the answer for everything and can explain anything to you if the lecturer is useless

Final recital piece: this fucking banger

Erwin:

You know how in ‘Shigatsu Wa Kimi no Uso’ Arima Kousei is described as the ‘Human Metronome’? So is Erwin Smith

Entered the college as a tenor but quickly reauditioned and changed to conducting. Still had to study an ‘instrument’ alongside it though and stuck with singing

Decent at theory and aural skills but not extraordinary. Like he gets good grades but you can tell he’s not passionate about them. But wow, this man can SING. People do get tearful when he sings

Is so pedantic about rhythm and technicalities that when he is in rehearsals with his accompanist, there isn’t as much musical expression. It comes with time though

Levi:

Multi-instrumentalist. Quick learner and everyone initially hates him. He’s Humanity’s Strongest in canonverse. Well here, he is the Mozart incarnate

If he sat down long enough, he could teach himself an instrument no problem (ofc he’d need a teacher to learn the harder stuff but you know what I mean. The guy is a natural) 

Auditions on violin in the end rather than piano

Very standoffish person irl but his music is so expressive. He is so abrasive irl but there is always a slight sway when he plays violin and it’s gorgeous UwU

Not fussed for theory. Knows it’s important but he has no interest in it

His interest though lies in music history. The guy can give you a run down on any composer. Literally try him. He knows his stuff. Such a dork omg

Ends up doing a PhD in music history and ends up becoming a music history professor but still plays violin on the side

* original request: AAAA IM SO SCARED! i didn’t see any list of specific stuff you don’t accept, so could i request a shigaraki x reader fluff where he’s lowkey obsessed and holds off telling her he loves her? i’m just looking for cute shigaraki stuff bc everything is only smut-

* a/n: so the inspiration for this fic also inspired me to pick up the snk manga, once again, and finish it. sasageyo, what a moving song you are. i know most translations say it means "devote your heart," but "offer up" sounds more eloquent for this scenario. it was truly a pleasure to write for shigaraki! i hope you enjoy this. @toishi is the best for proofreading this.

love is a fickle thing for tomura shigaraki, a slippery word that budges from the back of his throat and holds his heart so tenderly he fears it might break. it's love that has him so apprehensive to what he considers the "normal world," where love is laced in the very core of humanity, polishing words he hears while walking in public and glazing every action and gesture of those around him. everywhere he wanders, love is nonchalantly offered from human to human, as if it is not the most vulnerable part of them that clasps the entirety of their existence as a human so. love is not something tomura can think of himself offering up anytime soon - no, no, it leaves him too vulnerable and weak. 

but then again, love has never been something you asked of tomura, has it? you've never asked for more than what he gave, finding comfort in your shared silences and his feeble attempts at affection. you've never asked him to do more than what he's comfortable doing; you don't want his heart on a platter offered up to you in a dazzling spectacle. you know his heart is yours already. if it's for you, he thinks he can be a hero of some sort.

it's a funny thought, seizing his stomach and twisting it, leaving him queasy. him, a hero when he destroys everything he touches? you put these naive thoughts into his head, sentiments unfelt for over a decade by him. he can't even complain, a fool in love. he, perhaps the good guy in your fairytale, even when he's terrified to touch you most days - terrified of a fuck-up, to lose everything and you with one wrong move. he's so- so apprehensive, even after a year, because everytime he closes his eyes he can see his dog, his sister - you. he wants to hold your hand but he can't even do that - what sort of lover was he, unable to properly love? he's afraid that one day he'll mess up and his euphoric rome will come crumbling down, scattering at his feet so that all he sees in front of him is a vast plane of dust and mirages of what once was. he doesn't want your hand to be all he has left of you. he cusses himself, because why is this his life? 

but you're patient and you hold him with those gentle hands of yours, brushing the hair out of his tired eyes. you say it's okay, as if you can read his intrusive thoughts and push them out with the hands of your words. one day, he'll tell you. 

one day, he'll verbalize the bubbling feelings within him, even though he doesn't need to. he loves you, every morning and every evening and every moment in between. he loves you in every waking moment so much that it consumes his being as a whole until he cannot recognize himself, and all he sees in his reflection is you. 

somedays he'd stare at his hands, at his fingertips - delicate and lithe, yet capable of so, so much atrocious destruction. he'd run a line along the miniscule ridges of his fingerprints, tracing the patterns that created the life he has today. in his endeavors they were useful, but he'd always cuss them out. he never wanted this. he swears again under his breath as he drags his nail across the pad of his finger.

one day you caught him doing this, looking so loathesomely at his hands, at its power. you hesitantly show him gloves, only if he wants. they're black and all the fingers save the pinkie are missing. you tell him that this way, all five of his fingers won't be touching something at once. 

like this, looking into your nervous eyes, tomura thinks he knows what love is. he thinks he knows of the mysterious matter making up his heart and clouding his senses, and he tells you he loves the gloves. they're just substitute words for the true message, but you know them. i love you too, you say.

he tries the gloves and it takes a while for him to get used to them. they work, of course, and now his pinkie won't have to feel so lonely anymore. the first thing he holds is an apple, with all five of his fingers, rather than an awkward position leaving his pinkie stuck out. the bottom of it's comfortably in his palm, half of the sensation obscured by the soft fabric, and his fingers wrap around the shiny, red flesh of the fruit. the stem grazes the side of his pointer finger, and he's acutely aware of the bumps and curves his hand wraps around. he memorizes the weight of the apple against his pinkie and its stable solidness with his whole hand around it. and for seconds, for minutes - it stays like that, as if time never passed. it stays in his hand, uncrumbling, and-hm

"tomura, love? why are you staring so intensely at an apple?" you walk into the living room, sitting next to him on the couch.

he immediately abandons the apple, setting it in the fruit bowl on the table. he looks at you, this time, and outstretches a slow, hesitant hand towards you. your eyes fixate on it, mesmerized by the action. there's a light shimmering behind your irises. for a split second, tomura thinks that he'd hate to be the one to knock out that light, then his hand is reeling back. before his arm can settle at its typical position by his side, your hand reaches for his wrist. you have a tender grip on his wrist as you bring it back up to your face, leaning your cheek to his cold hand.

you appear to revel in the sensation, and tomura doesn't know whether his heart tumbles or somersaults. has he abandoned you for so long? it tugs at his heart strings, but your reassuring smile plays a melodious tune with them. he traces the features of your face with his thumb, from the bridge of your nose to its tip, brushing your lips and following your cheekbone up. you rest your hand on top of his, keeping his in place, and close your eyes. happiness dances on your relaxed features, a graceful waltz captivating his attention.

though he doesn't say it, he knows it. he knows of the promise he's made himself and he almost utters it. your love feels tangible, soft and resolute in his hand. it's a blanket he once feared that he can now wholeheartedly embrace. he plants a careful, gentle kiss on your cheek - he loves you, he's sure, unconditionally and fearlessly. his heart may not be on a platter, but he trusts it in your hands.

I don’t know how to say it without sounding arrogant, but we genuinely try our best to do our favourite female characters justice: to explore different scenarios with them, to give them comfy outfits, etc. Especially when the title has fun female characters for once, we better appreciate it lol I literally feel blessed whenever we watch/read SnK or JJK because the girls over there are gorgeous and have complex personalities and relationships with each other.

Katsu actually gives me prompt lists specifically for the girlies sometimes, but unfortunately I haven’t finished any of these… I really hope to do it one day though, they’re really good, and I feel like we can create a lot of unique things with them. Edgy, scary, funny, all kinds of things that we usually do with our boy ships.

Also! It’s so cute of you to congratulate us on our SnK-free anniversary haha, thank you so much! 💖  I can’t believe it’s been a year already. AUTHOR'S NOTES: he's one of my ultimate favorite snk characters, and i needed to cleanse my page of the heavy ass warrior content djjfjf.

with all of the gore and the misfortune that comes with your livelihood, it's connie that gets you through it.

as expected, you first fell in love with him for his humor. not for the humor itself, but for how it shed the smallest flicker of joy upon a heaping tower of despair— as soldiers, you needed that. fortunately, he was the one that brought it to the table. even during your days as cadets, connie lived to make you laugh. hearing a chuckle flutter from your core served as a form of therapy for him, and with time, he grew addicted.

with that being said, he does the stupidest shit in order to get your attention. even when you're together, he'll do what needs to be done. for example, one time, he tried to impress you by doing a trick while saddled up on his horse. in an attempt to twirl like a jackass ballerina, the horse decided that it deserved better, and kicked him clean off its back. at the sight of his 5'2 ass being hoisted eight feet into the air, you nearly choked.

prepare yourself, he's a cuddler. after a particularly hard day's worth of work, connie finds solace in bedding up with you, knowing that you're safe, and with him. he asks that you don't tell anybody, but he actually really enjoys cuddling as the little spoon. to have his head pressed against your chest, his ear to your heartbeat, brings him comfort. of course, he'll never detest to being your big spoon, either. he absolutely loves the feeling of you buried within his touch.

^ if you ever want to go an evening without cuddling, he'll be immediately offended. never, ever, ever will the two of you fall asleep back to back. he simply won't have it, it makes him feel as if something's wrong. and if that is the case, nobody's falling asleep until you've talked about it and successfully sorted it out.

at the beginning of your guys' relationship, everyone worried for you. did he coerce you, y/n? are you being forced? has he threatened you, has he threatened your family? nobody could grasp the fact that connie motherfuckin' springer had managed to pull you.

if there's any sort of sour talk regarding you, no matter how little it is, this man will leap to your defense. one time, jean called your bedhead ugly, and connie propelled a moldy roll of bread into his forehead. in the end, a massive food fight erupted, and you were just standing there with your bedhead like 🧍‍♀️

HOWEVER, there was an instance that actually led to a genuine, real fight between you two as a couple. you'd managed to scuff up your leg during the battle with kenny the ripper and his associates, and when it came down to who was and who wasn't going to tag along for the eren & historia rescue mission, connie belittled you to the team behind your back. not because he actually felt that way, but because he'd do anything to maintain your safety— even if it meant hurting your feelings. telling captain levi that your abilities were inadequate for that particular mission hurt him, but he did what he felt was necessary.

in the end, though, levi saw through the charade. to connie's dismay, you came with to save eren and historia. and during the entire journey, you didn't even utter a word to him. of course, though, during the battle, you put your frustrations aside. once you saw your lover's head nearly get kicked in during combat, you understood his intentions, and you forgave him. as expected, he replied to your forgiveness with humor,, his go-to coping mechanism.

"considering how sexy i looked on the battlefield, i knew you wouldn't be able to resist."

whenever his hair starts to grow out, you're the one that gets to cut it back down! he's able to do it himself, but he really likes it when you do it. you're typically propped up in his lap, sitting face to face as you file down his edges. he always loops his arms around your waist, intently staring you in the face— seeing you so concentrated on his hair, he can't help it.

you wouldn't expect this from connie whatsoever, but he likes it when you read to him. pick a literature of your choice and let him kick back and rest his head onto your lap, pleasE. he'll close his eyes, and for the first time in forever, stay still. the only time he and books ever coexist is when you're reading one to him. he'll also make fun of you whenever you stumble over a sentence,, so get ready.

the day you realize that this motherfucker is nearing six feet tall, you're ready for the holy spirit to whisk you away. literally, you measure his height on the weekly once you realize he just keeps gaining inches. that, and when he starts growing more into his face? lawd, take you now.

"connie, you're getting seXY-"

"what the hell does thaT mE A N-"

many, many proposals. none are meant to be taken seriously, which the both of you know. still, there are far too many proposals between the two of you. one time, you killed a fly midair, and he thought you were the baddest bitch on the block.

"marry me."

another time, he swooped you into the air with his maneuvering gear, and as you held onto him for dear life, you looked him dead in the face: "marry me, you baldheaded bastard."

it can be a reel, how many times the two of you say that bullshit. somehow, it's cute.

he doesn't really take basic boundaries into consideration. like, one time, you caught him using your toothbrush because he couldn't find his. it wasn't fun, you had to give him a serious talking to.

he is, without a doubt, constantly prepared to lay down his life for you on the battlefield. during his time as a soldier, he's grown significantly strong— and once he fell in love with you, he's felt even stronger. not only do you give him drive, but you lend him strength. with that being said, you're somebody he'd die for without even an ounce of hesitation. and knowing him, he's probably made that more than obvious.

when connie's village was destroyed and it was discovered that his entire family was turned into titans, you were one of the only ones to actually comfort him. you were absolutely enraged at how nonchalantly your lover's loss was set aside, and although he'd tried his hardest to conquer the grief alone, it was you who sat at his bedside at night, cradling him in your arms as he wept. never in your life had you seen him so distraught. after that period of time, your relationship with him only deepened in its seriousness. 

as expected, you and sasha spend quite a bit of time together! after all, that's your boyfriend's best friend. given her easygoing nature, it didn't take long for sasha to absolutely adore you. naturally, she wonders how the hell you manage to operate with a boyfriend like that, but she tries not to ask questions.

speaking of the wonder twins, they love getting you in trouble. whenever the two of them think up an astonishingly moronic shenanigan, there's a solid 50/50 chance that you'll be looped into it, too. one time, they purposefully dulled jean's razor, and when he went to shave, it only ended in him splitting his face open due to placing too much pressure. as a joke, those two jackasses carved your initials into the handle. when jean decided that he'd murder you, connie tried playing the hero, lEapiNg to your defense. it was stupid, and it didn't work. you still laugh about it, though.

there have been several jokes regarding starting a family and growing old together— secretly, though, connie doesn't want them to just be jokes.

and after a mission, connie has this habit of pinching your cheeks immediately after rushing towards you. it isn't to be cute, either. it's so that he can scan you, and check you for any harm. basically, it's him squeezing the life out of your face while bombarding you with questions.

Ugh, okay, chapter 81 of AoT, and I’m in the corner cryin’.

But seriously, what an emotionally powerful chapter this was.  God man, it’s gonna’ take me a minute to get my thoughts in order.

Well, first of all, Erwin, and all of the recruits, watching them sacrifice their lives here was just so absolutely, emotionally powerful.  Just incredibly moving and heartbreaking.  Even after Erwin gets hit and falls, (and the panels here of him dying are truly devastating, powerful images) to see the recruits continuing to charge forward, to carry on in his stead, it really is just so intense, and as well speaks to Erwin’s own power as a commander, how he was able to inspire these people into giving their lives for a greater cause.  To see their courage in the face of certain death, carrying on Erwin’s spirt here, it truly was one of the most moving, and also one of the most heart-wrenching moments in SnK up to this point.  I felt so much for all of them.  The way Marlowe thought of Hitch too, in the end, never realizing it was because he was in love with her, ugh, my heart.

Now contrasting that, and I swear to Christ, I really, REALLY don’t understand how anyone can sympathize with Zeke given the sick display he puts on here, his cruelty and ego-driven rage towards these young men and women, and how he lets his rage towards his father fuel his violence towards these innocent people just... it pisses me off so much.  I can’t even.  I mean, Zeke is one twisted, sick mother fucker.  He’s demented, truly, the way he swings wildly between violent rage and perverse glee as he kills them, and then has the unmitigated gall to act like he feels sorry for these people, how clearly he thinks of them as pitiful and pathetic, their sacrifice as meaningless.  He treats them like their lives are pointless, and then has the nerve to play at sympathy for their plight.  What pisses me off the most about Zeke is how utterly self-centered he is.  How everything he does, everything he thinks, is filtered through his own view of the world and life, and how he never once stops to consider the lives of others, their own views or experiences.  Because he’s deemed his own life as worthless and without point, so too has he deemed the lives of every other Eldian.  He’s far and away the most self-centered, ego-driven and selfish character in the whole series.  Oh, he just made me sick here.  His own hypocrisy is equally disgusting, with how angry he becomes when Levi dares to make him pay for what he’s done.  As if he can’t believe anyone would dare cause him harm, unable to comprehend why they would even wish to do so, as if he’s some great, godly figure sent to the world to bestow his twisted sense of mercy on those he deems unfit to live.  Just the whining, hysterical reaction he has to getting fucked up. The ego on this guy is seemingly infinite.  He truly is despicable.  Just a pathetic child of a man taking out his issues on everyone but himself, throwing temper tantrums when anyone dares to challenge him on what he’s decided is right.  Fuck Zeke.  Seriously, just... fuck this guy so much.

Now, enough about him, let’s talk about Levi.

Truly, some of the most heartbreaking moments we’ve seen with Levi up to this point happen in this chapter.   The moments following him taking Zeke down (and yes, that whole sequence was epically bad-ass), just seeing the depth of Levi’s pain here was so devastating, and incredibly moving.  You can see how preoccupied he is with what’s happened.  Zeke isn’t even his main consideration or concern.  He seems almost distracted, looking back behind him, out over the field of his fallen comrades and friends, and wondering in an almost frantic, inner monologue to himself if anyone out there is still alive.  He’s hoping beyond hope that someone, ANYONE, is, so that he can save at least one person.  This goes back to Levi’s determination to keep the new recruits alive back in I think chapter 78 or 79, ordering them not to die, and then trying desperately to get those with the horses back on the other side of the wall.  It really puts into perspective just how devastating this is for Levi, to see all of these people, dead, crushed to death by rocks, all of these people who just a short while ago he had been doing everything he could to protect.  To know they had to die to save only a few.  HIs desperation here, the way he clings to the hope that at least one person is still alive, out of all of them, to be saved, the way he reminds himself that as long as they’re breathing, it can be done, if he gives them the serum, it all just drives home in the most poignant way just how pained Levi is at the sacrifice they’ve all made.  It drives home how much it’s cost Levi, to allow them to do it.  I said before that him making that choice for Erwin was Levi going against every, innate feeling and instinct that he has, the need to protect and save people.  Levi had to go directly against his own nature in order to make that call, and the consequences of that are plain to see in these panels.  His wide eyed, shocked expression, the frantic, mantra-like thoughts going through his mind, almost childlike in the way he keeps asking if anyone is still alive out there, if there’s anyone he can bring back.  And the way he thinks of Erwin specifically when he asks that, it serves as such a cruel reminder that Levi’s just given up one of his dearest and closest friends.  That he’s just willingly lost a person that meant so much to him, in order to obtain any sort of victory for humanity.   It reminds us of the personal cost to Levi.  Another person he’s lost in this battle for humanity’s salvation.  Ah, he just breaks my heart so much here.  And also how it’s that hope, that desperate wish that someone is still able to be saved, that stays Levi’s hand from killing Zeke immediately.  How it’s purely Levi’s wish to save someone that keeps him from killing Zeke then and there, it truly speaks volumes about what kind of person Levi really is, about how much he values life.  

And then of course there’s Levi’s reaction when Pieke catches him off guard and steals Zeke away.  Levi’s stunned horror, as he watches Zeke escaping is, for one, I think, because his chance to save even one life is being taken away, there before his eyes, and, of course, because the purpose behind all of his comrades sacrifices, the reason they gave up their lives, in order for Levi to kill Zeke and provide those left a means of escape, is being rendered meaningless.  We then see Levi’s stunned horror turn to unbridled rage, as he realizes the promise he’d made to Erwin is slipping from his hands.  He can’t allow for all of these people to have died in vain, he can’t let their sacrifices mean nothing, he can’t let that stand.  Once again, the depth with which Levi values the lives of other people is truly incredible, and the emotion in these panels is perhaps the most powerful example of that quality in Levi up to this point in the story.  I just felt so much for him all throughout this.  

When you think about what Levi’s been through here, too, how before he even went after the Beast Titan, he’d already run himself ragged taking down some unknown number of smaller Titans to protect the horses and the new recruits, and then in order to get to Zeke, he had to take down probably a dozen or more 12 or 15 meter Titans, before finally taking the Beast Titan down, all this by himself, it displays the strength of Levi’s will so powerfully, how much of himself he’s willing to give in order to further the cause of others.  For him to then continue to go after Zeke, after all of that, just the way he never gives up, never stops fighting, exemplifies how wholly Levi truly embodies the ideal of the Survey Corps, and the fight for humanity.  What an absolute hero he is.

Well, I read snk 139. And regret it.

1) Soooo right off the bat we have Armin and his condescending patronizing. Why am I not surprised. Sure, let's blame Eren for being fucking idiots and demand that he apologize to a girl who molested his corpse. Eren should've kicked Armin more.

2) FINALLY Armin gets it. FINALLY. Intelligent character you say? Judging by how long it took him to realize what Eren was doing - I think not.

3) God I don't like this narrative of keeping your humanity. I really don't. Season 1 conveyed a completely different idea.

4) ........ Well there goes any respect I had for Isayama. Ymir was in love with Karl Fritz?!? Stockholm syndrome much?!? That is not a pure emotion!! What the fuck?!? There are so many things wrong with this, I can't even—

5) Wait does this confirm that Eren didn't know about that disgusting kiss?!? Now I feel even more sick. And seriously, seeing Mikasa force herself on a disembodied head convinced Ymir to abandon Fritz and cured her of her Stockholm Syndrome??? How???

6) So Eren did send Dina after his mom to put himself on a certain path to save Paradis? Damn, that's brutal and heartbreaking at the same time. Imagine having to sacrifice your own mother in order to save your people. My heart...

7) Okay, I will seriously fight Armin now. MIKASA ISN'T OWED SHIT AND NEITHER ARE YOU AFTER THE WAY YOU'VE TREATED EREN FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THIS MANGA. And just because Mikasa risked her life to save Eren's (although he never asked her to) he is under no obligation to return her feelings so fuck off. I swear to God Armin has to be one of the most hypocritical and unlikeable characters in SNK by now.

8) ......... Please tell me I'm hallucinating. Isayama don't do this to me. Don't ruin Eren this way, I'm begging you. Making him a lovesick possessive idiot?! Are you serious?!

20) Okay, Historia and her child are so cute. Gaaaah. Even though I so far hate everything about this, I'm saving this panel of Historia holding her little girl. I'm not made of stone. But also thanks for officially making Historia irrelevant after setting up so much.

21) Great. The Rumbling is pointless. Eldia is forming a military now. The survivors of the world probably will too. Nobody learned their fucking lesson and this endless fighting will continue. Just peachy.

22) My god everyone is a parody of themselves now. Tell me this entire chapter is a late April Fools' joke. Reiner lusting after Historia... Sure, he did that in Season 1, but it wasn't funny then and it isn't funny now.

23) Historia putting people who betrayed her country under protection... Wow. That's definitely what a good leader does. I guess if my country ever gets betrayed during a war, it should definitely forgive and protect the traitors that could've brought about its destruction. Totally.

24) Can Mikasa please get some medication already? Her psychosis is getting worse.

25) Eren is now a bird? Or at least controlling it from 'beyond the grave'? Symbolism has always flown over my head, I'll admit. And yes, I realize that this is also a callback to his promise after Hannes' death. But I guess this is confirmation that Mikasa will now live with that scarf around her neck, dreaming about Eren to the end of her days and never truly moving on. What a great character arc that is.

Maybe I'll rant about this chapter more later on, but these are my thoughts so far. I didn't expect anything good, but I'm somehow disappointed anyway, so I guess Isayama can consider that an achievement on his part.

Chapter 137, “Titans”, was one of the most polarizing chapters in recent memory, provoking strong reactions both positive and negative.  When we compiled the results, the chapter averaged 4.09 on a 1-5 scale, which places it 37th out of the 47 chapters we’ve ranked. No matter how you view it, it’s still a solid rating.

While the pacing was somewhat spotty, overall, the chapter was absolutely fantastic and very fulfilling and answered a lot of the things I had wanted answered.

Of the 1,121 responses that month, only 29 people correctly predicted it would be Jean. So while Jean only received 6.8% of the MVP vote for this act, we think those 29 people deserved some acknowledgement.

With Zeke and Armin comprising more than 20 pages of the chapter, it’s no surprise the majority of favorite moments centered around them. “Zeke and Armin’s discussing of the meaning of life” garnered one-fifth of all responses (20.2%), followed by “Zeke seeing the beauty of the world” (14.7%).  “Levi making good on his promise” (14.5%) was the third most selected option. “Armin reminiscing about the happy moments of his past”  was fourth (13.6%). Zeke‘s reflection and death are my favorite panels in the manga. It lives rent free in my mind. This is my favorite chapter of the manga so far.

I liked how Isayama had Jean reuse the suicidal blockhead nickname

I loved seeing Levi take a sort of protective, fatherly role when helping Gabi take out the Okapi Titan. And seeing him finally fulfill his promise and vow to Erwin is refreshing and makes me feel happy.

I loved the conversation between Zeke and Armin. Zeke was always nihilistic, he saw life as dry and meaningless. Armin is on the opposite - he found the meaning of life in the little happy moments. He taught Zeke that life isn't only about multiplication , but about higher, happier and more spiritual things, like love, having fun or watching sunsets and sunrises. I'm glad that Zeke found his own meaning of life and understood that there was nothing wrong about him being born on this world and he would do it once again, if he had a chance. We can add their conversation to the list of the best conversations in the manga.

it was a great chapter, and Armin & Zeke's talk was the highlight for me.

i love that scene where levi was protecting gabi from falling off falco's titan

Armin transforming and saying bye to Eren gave me absolute chills.

Looking back at that old sketch, it really does feel like the end of an era. 44.6% of respondents thought Zeke’s end was a good and poetic way to go out. 29% were sad to see him go but were glad he had some agency - even throwing out a last bit of sass at Levi! 12.4% didn’t like how it happened as it was somewhat sudden and maybe not as epic as it could’ve been. 7.6% question if it’s really the end for Zeke quite yet, and 6.4% have no strong opinions about it.

A fitting end for a great character

I think his ending was very poetic but could have been executed much better.

In terms of writing, he was the third best character in the post-time skip section of the story. He deserved a better ending.

10/10 character, one of my all time favourites. In theory, I like the idea of him sacrificing himself to stop Eren, but with the build up he had (mainly the way Grisha said he would save everyone) it was an extremely disappointing death.

I love him and via development. The thing is that the way he was killed was rushed as fuck and kinda killed my enjoyment of his last moments. If worked better, pretty sure I would have cried.

I really liked the way Zeke's character arc ended, and he remains one of my favorite characters in the series.

I was underwhelmed...I hoped to get much more out of him than what we did. But I guess this is expected when you introduce like 10 new characters and try to cram their entire arcs in less than 30 chapters at the expense of the original protagonists' (I'm not salty...I swear...).

I'm happy that his arc ended the way it did. As the above question said, it was poetic. But more than anything else, it was meaningful.

I've always found him interesting. I love how his role in the story evolved as time went on. One of the best characters in Attack on Titan.

I mean, when they released his flashbacks as a child, I already started sympathising with him. Also his paths adventure with Eren. But this chapter really solidified it for me. The guy was just a sad boy who wanted love and thought he was doing the right thing.

He was an "end justify the means " person. I don't like him still.

I mean... it was nice to see him realise that he wouldn't mind being born again, but I was still a bit miffed by the fact that he still believed that his euthanasia plan was the way to go (it sort of diluted the impact of the conversation between him and Armin). Also liked that he acknowledged the innocent people he had murdered, so I'd give his character a 6/10.

I've always enjoyed Zeke's character. Ever since picking up the manga after Season 1 what feels like an eternity ago and he's one of my favorite characters. That being said... This chapter made me dislike him a bit.

I hated him from the beginning for what he did to Mike, and his actions during RtS didn't improve my opinion either. Even his sad backstory didn't influence how I felt about him. And then in chapter 137 a tiny miracle happened, and moments before he died I actually felt something. Sadness. Empathy. Respect, even.  Goodbye Zeke, you were a great character.

I loved Zekes character. Even as he attacked Paradis Island you could see his methodical viewpoint on their roles in all of this. He always was working the end game and their ability to not be used as pawns. We may not have always agreed with his path and believe me, there were moments I hated him. So many, but he also knew his moment in this time and what his role was. His death was a righteous one and I loved that Levi was able to fulfill his promise.

I thought his character was probably one of the best in the story, with a very well defined beliefs/viewpoint and a bunch of interesting characterwork.

I'm glad he got to understand that the world is beautiful before dying, I was angry because of all the things he did but chapter by chapter I came to realise  how sad his life was, he only had little moments to be happy and be a normal kid/person, I'm not justifying his actions but I'm not judging him either.

I love Zeke as a character. He is well written on his own and also has a drastic effect on a lot of characters. I think that Zeke realizing that there are other ways to look at life and his way was not the most convenient one makes the viewer realize that no one is wrong and no one is right. I think his death was pleasing enough and he look liked he didn't have major regrets in life, other than the one he discussed with Armin.

He's just like every other character in SnK: War Criminal with a backstory. What he went through as a child and a teenager creates a soft spot for him; but doesn't justify his killings and the euthanasia plan. I liked Zeke's detached approach on humanity, as I completely relate with his philosophy during the conversation with Armin. Even though at first I was repulsed by his sociopathic tendencies (rip Mike) his character definitely stood out. Everything about him felt rational and original, and I still believe his plan was the most logical one. Great character.

I like Zeke, he was represented as a villain but like all the characters, he's the hero of his own story. He was strong, smart, and tried to stop massive killings. I loved his relationship with Levi too (even though he almost killed him) and I loved Levi's expression when he finally killed him. I expected him to die fighting, but I like how he went down.

My thoughts are neutral. I think he had no choice in his life- he too was enslaved. Although, it would have been better to see more of his relationship with Tom Ksaver. That seems to be who he really is, and who he really believes himself to be.

No, Ymir is trapped in paths due to being devoured while controlling the spine creature. Because she was eaten by humans (not turned into titans) she was stuck in the world of paths and to end titans she needs to be freed from that world.

That definitely explains why Armin was still able to see everything that was going on in the living world. It was especially interesting to learn that all titan shifters never fully die, rather their consciousness is transferred to Paths where they remain in a seemingly dream-like state but can still be awakened to an extent, as we saw Zeke do. I still would like to see Paths destroyed in the end, though, otherwise they'll be stuck there forever and never be able to move on.

Though Ymir remains quite an obscure character, I've always been a fan of childhood trauma and how this affects the world they are living in, especially in a fantasy setted world. It adds an interesting level of humanity to the story.

Ymir was surprised when she entered paths in 122. She didn't expect but from what we've seen from 122, we can say that "escaping to a world free of even death" holds the most meaning. I never saw it as her desire for safety, Connection of course is existent though.

I don't know, but here's my opinion. I'd say Zeke finally open his eyes to the truth, and now he wished to do as much as he can to stop Eren before his time comes. It doesn't make sense that someone as motivated as Zeke would sit passive the whole Rumbling. If he could have done anything to stop Eren, he would have done it before half the world was Rumbled.

The primary boogeyman figure of his life turned out to be a good man, and he apologised, turning his entire worldview upside down (not counting the whole "Stand, dad" thing) He had an eternity in Paths to process the events of ch120-122 (and maybe his entire life before that) multiple times over. Armin found him at his most vulnerable, betrayed and alone once more. Their debate back and forth, all done with mutual respect, was amazingly written. Armin showed him the way, gave him that one final nudge he needed in the right direction. It's perfectly believable, and fitting.

The passed came back from the past to lend the alliance a hand! Now this moment was a little controversial. 42.5% thought it was awesome seeing our old friends take control of their titans to save their loved ones. 29.9% liked what the scene was going for but thought it needed more setup or foreshadowing. 18.9% were not happy at all to see such a shonen scene in this manga. Hated it, even! Despite the many strong feelings, there was still a group of those (8.7%) who didn’t really have an opinion either way.

I feel considerably less crazy about referring to the rumbling as ""basically Ragnarok"" now that we have dead shifters coming back from Valhalla-paths to fight in the rumblnarok.

While I expected the past shifters to help out the Alliance eventually ever since we saw crying Bertotototo, I thought it was a little rushed and could've used more build-up.

I still don't understand how it is Zeke that brought the titan shifters back since he was busy thinking about his childhood. I kinda didn't like the ressurection ( not exactly ) of the dead titan shifters since it takes away the meaning of death of you are actually able to interact with them.

This chapter continued to showcase some more of the past Titan Shifters throughout the ages. What was most interesting of the past Titan Shifters that appeared in this chapter to fight the past alliance members was that some of the same Titan Shifters that appeared during Ymir's flashback in Chapter 122 can be seen fighting the Alliance in this chapter.

I thought it was interesting to finally have Freckled Ymir's description of being a mindless titan get touched upon again. She said that it was like a never ending nightmare. All the shifters Ymir and Eren summoned were asleep in that nightmare, until Zeke and Armin were able to wake them up, if only for a brief amount of time. There was a reason we saw Bertolt crying after Armin ate him. And we were only reminded again in Chapter 135 when Armin saw Bertolt crying again. I don't think these shifters gaining some of there consciousness back is an ass pull at all. We were given some bread crumbs to believe that at least dead shifters exist in some way in Paths after death.

The shifter crew that appeared to join the alliance created some confusion among readers. Why, for instance  was Kruger there but not Frieda? Where was Lara Tybur? What was the deciding factor in whether or not a shifter returned for the battle? The most popular in world explanation was that  “Zeke could only awaken those he’d met before” (33.6%). It very  narrowly edged out the more practical reason “It’s so we only see the shifters the audience is familiar with” (32.1%). 16.9% believed the Founding and Warhammer couldn’t be used because those are Eren’s titans. And 14.1% believed the reason specific titans were brought back was ideological - they where the only ones who would side with the alliance.  

I am a bit disappointed that Kruger and Grisha are fighting for the alliance now. It just doesn't really make sense that the people who helped Eren get to this point would help stop him. I'm hoping that this isn't them acting independently and are just being controlled by someone.

On Levi killing Zeke, I feel like that's narratively sloppy and only serves as some shitty ass way to make Levi relevant, since there isn't really much to his character anymore. Zeke brought the Titans back to help stop Eren, so technically he's apart of the alliance, right? In our chapter 133 poll we asked if killing Zeke would have any effect on stopping the rumbling and only 4.2% of people thought it would, so we aren’t sure whether to side eye these results or assume a lot of people had a change of heart in the last 4 months.

35.9% agree that Zeke was always the key linking Eren to the full Founder abilities, so his death would put the rumbling on hold. It wouldn’t be Attack on Titan without a host of new theories with each new chapter! We tried to grab the most common ones to see which had the most traction. A whopping 67% believe there is merit to the theories that Eren knew this was going to happen and it’s part of his plan. Nearly 40% are open to the idea that Eren is remote control powering his titan form from Paradis. I'm still hoping that they can have a happy ending. The deserves it after all the fights.

I've heard so many different theories on how this series could end and now that we are on the final chapters almost nothing has gone with my expectations. I was blown out of the water with how this final fight went. With expectations for this series so high its impossible for it to satisfy everyone. But I'm really happy with how everything turned out. A lot of plot threads are being closed up in satisfying ways and I'm content with the character development everyone is getting.

There are a few things I've been disappointed about, like the lack of Eren's point of view. But I'll hold off judgment till the series ends. I think i'll enjoy rereading this section of the story once it's finished. I caught up with the manga around 117 and waiting monthly for these chapters was made everything seem longer that it probably actually was. Overall I'm happy with how everything went.

Zeke sort of reminds me of Johan from monster. both had a messed up asf childhood and life in general. both didn't find pleasures in life at all, like simple pleasures like tea or coffee to life and people. Because they knew for themselves life had no meaning. therefore both of them could do basically whatever they wanted sorta bc life had no meaning to them and was destined to go extinct if that makes sense. To them, their actions were justified bc they had no meaning in life. But armin, this hope in the world, also knew the world was cruel. however he chose to find pleasures in it rather than distrusting it all together. He found hope in his friends and reading and more, even if it meant getting hurt by people. I believe armin will talk. This chapter messed me up man. Zeke used to be my least favorite character cause he was weird but now he's one of my favs. His death was def one of the hardest for me. ugh what a beautiful chapter. I wish they all found meaning in life before.

Gabi has lots of potential, and it was smart to have her as a character study. I mean, not only do we get the perspective of a brainwashed child of war, but through her, it was shown that it's possible to end all conflicts through forgiveness. She is also a replacement for sasha (sharpshooter). Levi is no shooter, but I hope he takes Gabi, and/or the other war kiddies, under his wing. I hope Levi could find another purpose, and I'm imagining being a trainer/teacher best suites him. He cares a lot and gives good guidance with his experience and wisened words…

Honestly, I was always kinda neutral towards Zeke. Never really loved him, never really hated him. Hated what he did to the Scouts and subsequently to Erwin, but that hate really didn't last long. He was just kinda...there for me. He was an interesting character, and brought a lot to the series, but I guess it wasn't until the chapter with him and Eren as they went through his and their father's memories (the BIG chapter) that I started to warm up (?) to him. I don't know, it's hard to explain how I really felt about him overall. I will admit though, that his death, although very sudden with Levi coming out of nowhere lol, was impactful and I think a really poetic end for him. Him finally realizing the true meaning of living, seeing the beauty of their cruel world at the very end, and helping to bring an end to the Rumbling, left a very good impression on me. So, in the end...I liked Zeke. He was a good character.

Zeke and Armin's talk is... decent, I guess. Like everything in the final arc, it suffered from bizarre pacing issues, so while the core of the talk is decent, we essentially have Armin changing Zeke's entire worldview with 1 small speech. Then SUDDENLY DEAD PEOPLE COME BACK TO LIFE LEVI BEHEADS REINER HELOS ARMIN NUKE RUMBLING IS STOPPED... why the hell did we get two fanservice battle chapters just that all this gets stuffed into one?

I want Levi alive. So he can open his dream tea shop. I want him happy

I was happy to see Ksaver's titan, Armin and Zeke's talk moved me, and I'll admit I never thought the spine creature was sentient until this chapter. I'm sad the series is ending. What do I have left to look forward to each month?

Worst chapter of the entire series. If eren was actually defeated, and being defeated wasn't his intention, this chapter ruined the series and his character.

I sympathize for baby Zeke's struggles and the trauma he had to experience but honestly he ain't special in this manga, everyone has a sad fucking backstory. He was a pathetic little sadist, always puffed up about how Clever™ he was for double-crossing people and yet never seeing the obvious betrayal coming from Eren. I know the justification for that is "aw he cared for his baby brother uwu" but that was what made him so pathetic - for all his posturing about being smart and pragmatic for the Greater Good (which was his justification for the euthanasia plan) he was just as emotional and fallible as all the people he looked down on. His lack of self-awareness and depth of selfishness disgusts me. This ending was too good for him. He died as a martyr and he deserved much, much less. Tbf, for baby Zeke's sake, I am glad he got to see some happy memories of Xaver towards the end, but I thought his death was tasteless and a slap in the face of all the people he murdered before. (*ahem* Mike)

Zeke is honestly such a masterclass in character writing and it is so impressive that Isayama has written so many amazing characters. I started out really hating Zeke for what he did to Miche, and that impression carried for a long, long time, even until it was revealed that he had his own agenda, that he might be playing the long game helping Eldians, I didn't believe it because of what he did to Miche. In fact, it was Eren's cooperation with Zeke that made me turn on Eren post-timeskip. When we got that hint of Zeke backstory, I was actually kind of miffed. Like no way, Isayama, you're not going to make me sympathize with Zeke. Not happening. Yet, after I read the chapter, my thoughts were Grisha is a shit dad. Absolute shit dad. Anyway, I was still glad Eren bested Zeke in Paths, though once the Rumbling activated, I realized that I agreed with Zeke's plan better. So he's really become an interesting character for me, and I was even really excited to see him return at the end of last chapter. I still don't like him very much, but he is incredibly compelling and interesting, and I'm definitely a bit more forgiving of his earlier actions. Miche's death still sucked though.

Zeke is one of the most well written character of all time

Zeke is so fucked up, but he's hilarious and extremely meme-able. He's a tragic, well-written character who committed monstrous acts. If he didn't die here, he should have been locked up for the rest of his life.

Zeke is such a underrated but sad character. He truly taught his plan was the best Eldians. He was brain wash from his own parents and send them into pure titans, while his half brother had a normal childhood. In the end, he sacrificed himself to defeat Eren.

Zeke is super smart and very strong man ; he was defending his own past and his own sadness ; but he lost when he tried to follow his wrong feeling of sympathy toward eren ; he was thinking that he is a victim either from their father; this makes him lost everything he lived for until this moment..

Zeke is very great and one of the most important character to the story, his development also very good, i'll miss him

Zeke jeager was of course the first of the two jeager brothers and surprisingly the first son of Grisha I think as Hajime Isayama presented him it was awesome but I still not sure about his death is he really dead or is there any twist left in the last two chapters but still 🤞🤞 let’s see what is left in the series.

Zeke just wanted the eldians to be free but the way he wanted to make them free was wrong. That’s why I didn’t like him that much. But I think right now I’m sad that he had to die.

Zeke made many decisions in order to achieve his goal of ending the painful cycle of Eldian life, and because of that I feel sorry for him. I feel sad that he felt that he needed to make those decisions, and I’m glad that he was able to finally see the beauty in life at the end.

Zeke's a very interesting character to me. I love the irony of Grisha teaching him how cruel the world is in the hopes that it would radicalize him, only for it to make him wish he was never born. The guy never got the chance to just be a regular kid, except for when he was with Tom Ksaver. Tom acted like a parent should to a child, and as such Zeke ended up following through on Tom's vision rather than Grisha's. He was supposed to save the Eldian people, but came to the conclusion that it would be better if they were wiped out. I'm glad his past was brought up again in 137 where Zeke was contrasted with Armin. Zeke was born into a role with high expectations, compared to Armin who earned his expectations through repeated successes. Armin was able to grow up as the regular kid that Zeke wishes he was. His past traumas also lead him to project his own insecurities, which we can say by his assumption that all Eldians are born to suffer, and in thinking that Eren was brainwashed by Grisha, both of which aren't necessarily true. Overall I'd say Zeke is one of my favorite characters in the series, and I'm just scratching the surface of why I like him so much.

Zeke was used by others in some way, over his entire life. The restorationists goals. Kusaver using him to ease his own guilt. Marley’s military. Eren as well. I can’t help but wonder how he could have turned out if anyone had sincerely given a fuck about his own happiness.

Hate that Historia is continuing to be ignored.

I hope this isn't a set up for talk-no-jutsu. One thing that set SnK apart from other fantasy/supernatural shonens was the least use of talk-no-jutsu (it was there way early in the manga and anime but still it was least). Overall, I guess when more information/clarification could've been given, we got more talk and a dissatisfying death, I expected more.

It ould have been longer to flesh out each scenario and make it more believable, Zeke's change would be better if a few pages more was used to add more detail to his change. The fight scene should be fine as it is. As for the death of Zeke it needs to be longer, it would have made the audience much more sattisfies, his death is a turning point and it could have played out better if Isayama paid more attention to it. But overall I enjoyed it.

It was all just so rushed and convenient- levi killing zeke like it's nbd, zeke being dead completely stopping their problem, all these random dead people coming back to life it's like - what is this? why rush things this much in the last 3 chapters?  i'm hoping isayama has something up his sleeve but the power of friendship defeating eren's still as of yet unexplained character change has left me super disappointed.

It was an alright chapter, about what I really expected, as much as I'd like to I never thought Eren would win and the chapter ended the way I thought it would. With so much negativity surrounding this chapter hopefully the next chapter and the finale will ease people's mind, some people just need to remember this is a Shonen not a Seinen of course the alliance were gonna win.

It was good. The way we got emotions and fight scenes all in one chapter is another peak fiction writing skill from Isayama. As a lot of people think tho, some things shown in the chapter were confusing and kinda out of context, but I guess we'll gonna have all the answers in the last 2 chapters. Ngl, there was some obvious plot armor there in the Alliance side but I think Isayama already gave us enough suffering to ask for more deaths (man, just the thought of how EMA might end after this is more than enough). The ending will definitely define if AOT will go down at the best manga/anime of all time.

We're just rehashing the same lessons of previous arcs and we're just supposed to have conveniently forgotten them...both the feeling of powerlessness/futility of living and the message of "true freedom is..." were already covered by Eren himself back in Uprising and then in his convo with Shadis about what Carla wanted for him. Yams are you telling me he didn't learn a thing and we gotta see other people come to the same conclusions? Ok..........

Were in the Endgame now. Eren's seeming death is used to subvert expectations and is from the POV of Armin. He said goodbye to Eren expecting for him to die from the explosion, e does not say it as fact.

While answering a couple questions, this chapter also made me realize that I didn't understand shit :) Maybe once the manga has ended and all my questions are answered, I will finally succeed in understanding this masterpiece.
