#I GO TO GOFUNDME OR SEARCH THE FUCKING DONATION POST TAG

Poverty didn’t spring into existance in 1916 when John D. Rockefeller became the first billionaire so stop fucking acting like millionaires aren’t part of the problem.
It does not fucking matter that billionaires exist to throw off the fucking scale.
It does not matter how they got their millions of dollars.
Every single person is capabel of redestributing their wealth.
Eat the Rich does not stop at billionaires.
Eat the Rich includes millionaires.
Eat the Rich includes all rich people.
Eat the Rich includes people who go on four paid vacations a year.
Eat the Rich includes people who own three houses.
Eat the Rich includes people who casually spend over eight hundred fucking dollars in three days on a cell phone for a ten year old who has already destroyed the first $400 cell phone they bought him by jumping into a pool with it in his pocket.
Billionaires are bad people. Millionaires are bad people. All rich people who have more than enough money to thrive and then spend that extra money on buying yet another house, yet another boat, yet another brand new car, are bad people.
You cannot fucking defend millionaires like they aren’t doing anything wrong when poor people literally fucking scrape together every cent they have to help other poor people not die.
You cannot fucking defend millionaires when poor people are giving up their own food to feed others. You cannot fucking defend millionaires when people are homeless. You cannot defend millionaires when people die because they can’t afford insulin.
You cannot defend millionaires when poor people literally have to beg for scraps from other poor people just so they don’t die. You cannot defend millionaires when literally every poor person I know always donates their money to other poor people the second they aren’t literally starving to death or late on rent.
Stop pretending that millionaires are oppressed because they aren’t billionaires. Poverty existed before billionaires. Shut the fuck up. Millionaires are not poor people. Just because billionaires exist to throw off the scale does not mean millionaires aren’t evil.

a note about women’s month 💘
thank you to everyone who voted in the fave female panelists poll this year! last year was a blast and this year was even better! we’ve seen more woman on tv this year — and some improved, though grossly insufficient, diversity within that — and i love celebrating that with you everyday!
last year, i wrote this:
the lack of diversity in british comedy is an alarming issue that has only recently become headline news. statistics presented by this study, based on 50 years of panel shows and over 4,700 individual episodes, are beyond disappointing for women (here is an easy-to-read graph by series & by year); similar disappointment stems from the lineups at popular comedy festivals, like edinburgh. in 2014, the head of tv at the bbc promised to end all-male comedy shows, a “step in the right direction” that hasn’t been without fear of tokenism, fair criticism as well as some naysayers. women, people of colour, lgbt peoples, those differently-abled and those all of the above and in between are just as funny as cis-identifying white men and deserve a place on our screens. watch their standup, buy their books, stream their videos, listen to their podcasts, comment on and like their content, follow their social media. this support can directly help women become more visible in british comedy.
in the last year, have you been actively conscious of supporting women in comedy? i’d like to take a moment to talk about some ways you can do that :)
➡ from feminist discourse to tales of humans & their dogs to ghost stories, these women are providing some of the most touching, stimulating, and funny reading coming out of comedy:
How to be Champion: My Autobiography by Sarah Millican
Animal: The Autobiography of a Female Body by Sara Pascoe
The Guilty Feminist: From our noble goals to our worst hypocrisies by Deborah Frances-White
The Actual One: How I Tried, and Failed, to Avoid Adulthood Forever by Isy Suttie
Cheer Up Love: Adventures in Depression with the Crab of Hate by Susan Calman
The More You Ignore Me by Jo Brand
Can't Stand Up for Sitting Down: A Memoir by Jo Brand
Look Back in Hunger: The Autobiography by Jo Brand
Born Lippy: How to Do Female by Jo Brand
Is It Just Me? by Miranda Hart
Peggy & Me by Miranda Hart
Nina Is Not OK by Shappi Khorsandi
A Beginner's Guide to Acting English: A Memoir by Shappi Khorsandi
Spectacles: A Memoir by Sue Perkins
East of Croydon: Blunderings through India and South East Asia by Sue Perkins
Once More, with Feeling: How We Tried to Make the Greatest Porn Film Ever by Victoria Coren Mitchell and Charlie Skelton
For Richer, For Poorer: A Love Affair with Poker by Victoria Coren Mitchell
Dead Funny: Horror Stories by Comedians featuring Sara Pascoe, Katy Brand, and Danielle Ward
...and that’s just to name a handful! my fingers would need a 5 min power nap if i tried typing out all of susie dent’s books 💪
➡ this is a list of a lot relevant active podcasts coming out of britain right now (though it is missing, most notably, off menu). for example, if you liked alice levine on taskmaster, why not listen to her podcast? or watch/listen her on rhlstp? this is such a fun way to get more deeply involved in the comedy of some of your favourite ladies! might i recommend isy suttie’s the things we do for love, anneka harry’s brown bread, or box set go! with nicola stephenson (the newest ep features rebecca front!)? most of these are free, or they can be found/requested at /r/notapanelshow p.s. suzi ruffell, rosie jones, tiff stevenson and more are scheduled to appear on rhlstp this season 😍
➡ here is a list of some radio programmes currently on the air. while it does look stacked with men (because it is), women do feature on so many of these series and absolutely smash it! did you know sandi toksvig hosted the news quiz for almost ten years, and its regular panelists include susan calman, rebecca front, zoe lyons, and more? or that victoria coren mitchell has hosted heresy since 2006 (because there’s nothing she can’t do)? or that sarah millican, jo brand, and sally phillips have each hosted series of the museum of curiosity? these are all on the masterpost! 👏 p.s. you can always search for and/or request more radio shows at /r/panelshow or, if they’re not panel radio shows, /r/notapanelshow :)
➡ social 👏 media 👏 determines 👏 relevancy 👏 do i agree with this system? no. is this the system entertainers are currently slaves to? yes. do you follow your favourite women on twitter, instagram, youtube, etc? one click. one like. one retweet. one reblog. here is a list of some of the comedians i follow on twitter to get you started — all of your faves are on there! when you like something they are on, tweet about it! tag them, the network, the channel, use the hashtags, post pictures! tell channels like dave or people like richard osman who your faves are, who deserves more exposure, who you want to see in the future! we’re already obsessing over how much we like these ladies anyways, so why not make that obsession even more visibile?
➡ we have a really sweet, modest community here of at least 10,000 people. this is not something i’ve ever talked about because i don’t want what i’m going to say to be misconstrued as begging for notes — that is not my concern. but you may have heard people on this site talk about something called the like/reblog ratio. a lot of creators are concerned that, apart from tumblr’s ever-evolving ludicrous algorithms murdering their visibility, people are so obsessed with their blog aesthetics that they’re not actually reblogging everything they like. here’s a couple of my gifset details, one from a nicher post and one from a more popular post:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
while i appreciate any notes, numbers likes these aren’t always encouraging. i’m not here to tell you how to enjoy your spare time and interests, or to criticise people who enjoy aesthetic. i just want to point out that if you want someone to be successful, you play a direct part in promoting them and spreading their art. as the years pass, this becomes more and more true. i know how much you all love these ladies — i get messages about them every single day — but it’s a simple fact that a gifset of james acaster or noel fielding or richard ayoade or david mitchell is going to get more notes than a post about any of the women who placed in the top 5 of this poll. i am not bringing this up to this make anyone feel guilty about what they enjoy; i only hope my mentioning this encourages you to be conscientious when participating on social media, especially when your interest lies in the products of a grossly unjust industry that is taking a lot fucking time to get itself on the right track. more followers on a comedian’s twitter = more work for that comedian, because that’s simply the direction the film & tv industry is going. if your follow yields that much power, why not use it for good?
please support women. if you buy one of their books, please message me and tell me which one! if you think one of them is shining on a radio programme and we’re sleeping on her, please let me know (timestamps appreciated!)! if one starts a gofundme or patreon to start a podcast or a tour, please donate 50p and then send me the link! there is always more we can be doing and we are always underestimating what even smallest amount of support means for their bigger picture. i don’t have all the answers, but i love the feeling i get when i believe society is evolving in the right direction. rose matafeo won the edinburgh comedy award in 2018, and sarah keyworth and kiri pritchard-mclean took the top awards at the 2019 chortle awards. women are here to stay and they’re fucking killing it. because duh ❣️
if you took the time to read this, i appreciate you x

jfc could you maybe stop spamming all of us with your gofundme bullshit? we get it already. go get a job like everyeone else who has to work to pay there bills. your hats are crap and cost way too much. who the fuck is going to pay 20$ for something you can get on amazon for 3$? grow the fuck up and get a job.
Hi. I’m Rainbow aka Megzie’s wife. Megzie is currently out of the office and I gleefully announced that I would reply. Why? Because she has shit to do, and I just finished work. I also haven’t slept in over 24 hours so this is going to be extra exciting!
I usually attempt to be somewhat diplomatic when responding to comments like this. Thankfully we have had very few, as usually all of our accounts keep anonymous questions off. I find that cowards seek out ways to be nasty if given the chance and it’s best just to not give them a way to do that. If you’re going  to be a horrible piece of shit, it’s always better to use your name so I can ridicule you publicly, have others join in to point and laugh at the sorry loser and then block your ass! That way we all have fun.
I am at the moment very upset. If this had come to me my answer would have been “lol loser. Poor pathetic idiot has no life and wants to make everyone miserable. Sit on my sparkly dick and spin shit head!” HOWEVER. You did not send this to me, you sent this to my wife. So now, I’m fucking pissed. So allow me to express this in the best way I know how.
Fuck you.
Now! Since that’s out of the way, let me tell you why you are a small pathetic little coward that should really think about your life choices. I know a lot of you idiots are losing even more brain cells with those tide pods your sucking on, but do me a favor and drop the colored sack for five minutes.
1. News flash, I am currently working four jobs plus school. Megzie just got done with an internship and is also currently looking for something else. So right away, you assumed that A, we’re not working, and B, we’re not trying to find anything. Bless your narrow minded little soul, I WISH I was that fucking ignorant. The world must be as bright as those pods for you huh? I could just pinch that cheek if it wasn’t covered in soap.
2.Our hats are very nice thank you. I know it’s reeeeeeeeeally hard for you to understand how small handcrafted cottage businesses work and I wouldn’t dream of trying to make you put any REAL thought into it so I’ll just say that, A) lying about the quality of something you have never actually tried is usually frowned upon in the grown up world. B) We price our hats (and all the rest of our products) so that we can pay ourselves at least something of a living wage after the price of materials. Bu it still takes around two hours for Megzie to make a single hat if she’s focusing solely on it. I know you’re short on brain cells, so I’ll do the math for you-- despite the utterly EXORBITANT price tag, we’re still making just above minimum wage for each product sold. And lastly, C) a really amazing solution to not wanting to spend the money on a handcrafted item, would simply be to just…..(wait for it).....not buy it! SIMPLE RIGHT?! OMG EVEN YOU CAN DO IT! And the best part is……………..you can do it without being a fucking shit face! What a concept!
3. Sweetie. That wasn’t spamming. That was simply reblogging. Trust me. I can spam. Megzie can spam! But we are restraining ourselves. Lord have mercy if we actually start promoting something. But that comes to the best part! Guess what every tumblr user has on their page? Guess guess! That’s right! A ‘Follow/Unfollow’ button!!! I bet you already sort of know what that does. I mean you can sort of type so you must have some idea of what buttons do. But just in case you forgot! ‘Following’ someone on tumblr means that you LIKE their content and would like to see more. “Unfollowing” someone means that you are not interested in the content and would like to stop seeing it. CRAZY RIGHT!? WHO KNEW THE INTERNET WAS SO FUCKING SIMPLE!? So just remember, when you get on tumblr everyday and think, “HM...SHOULD I HARASS SOMEONE GOING THROUGH A TOUGH TIME BECAUSE I DON’T LIKE SEEING THIS POST!?” You can say “NO! I WILL ACT LIKE A PERSON WITH SOME VAGUE SENSE OF EMPATHY AND RESTRAIN MY SMALL BRAIN AND SIMPLY, UNFOLLOW.” Magic. Am I right? You don’t have to answer that. I know capital letters are hard.
So in conclusion little person. There is one simple fact here. And that fact is, we are currently going through a hard time. We are one of many people in this world that is facing poverty. We have over the years build up a strong group of support. We helped when we were able and hoped it made a positive difference in people’s lives. (Trust me, we have a huge stack of plush that we got when we donated towards projects from other friends). We find ourselves in a situation where we are in need of help, and our support system has been kind in ways that even I could never hope for. We are even the recipients of a food bank charity that lets us get groceries every week. (We qualify because we make enough money to show we are actually working and not just sitting around looking for a handout, you fucking dillweed) Anyone who graduated college will tell you that jobs are not easy to come by, especially around this time of year. Everytime I think about getting a fifth job (along with school) and working fast food or retail, I have to remind myself of the physical limitations that have prevented me from doing so recently, such as an autoimmune disease that is untreated due to no way to pay for medication and doctor visits. (Apparently because the drugs I need are the same they give to chemo patients, they need to test my blood every month which is like over $100 per test. Doctors. Am I right?) And that’s just the physical disability. I mean I could talk you ear off all the other things I have to deal with like ADD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, executive dysfunction, severe depression, so on and so forth. Megzie is even worse off than I am at times, and these times, have been very hard.
But you know what makes this amazing? They won't be that way forever. One of those jobs I have, is working on a movie where I will get IMDB credits, which in the entertainment industry, will go a long way. I’ve worked my ass off to make sure that I will succeed as a video editor, and when my searching finally pays off, I will be able to support us. Megzie is currently working to organize consulting work as well as other means of employment and we have more leads every day. One of them WILL stick. In the meantime, we have our small cottage business. It’s toxic green and full of work and a genuine love for what we do. One day, our hard work will pay off and we'll both be employed again. Have regular income, pay bills, make sure we can buy toilet paper, think about a retirement fund, buy clothes without guilt, take her to a movie every now and then, slowly start to pay off our mountains of student loans, help out those who gave us a hand when we needed it and relax after a long day at work knowing that we will not be homeless.
And you will not matter. Years from now, hell, maybe even month, you will not matter. Did you hurt Megzie with your cruel comment? Of course you did. It was meant to hurt. It was meant to be cruel. And it did it’s job. But that hurt is fleeting, and we get up the next day to do our best. Your spitefulness will fade from memory and eventually you will become to us, what you know you already are--nothing. Because when we are back on our feet, when we are stable and working towards the rest of our lives, you will still be nothing. You will be dirt that clogged the gears for only a moment before it was brushed aside and discarded. You will be a passing annoyance. You have to live with that. You have to carry that shame inside you. You are a cruel person. And that’s something you will have to have inside you for all of your days. And I take great satisfaction in that. Because this struggle we are in now? That’s temporary. You being a cowardly pathetic disgusting sack of garbage? You get to carry that around for the rest of your life.
And should you change your mind, I will still sell you a nice warm hat. :)

Charity
During the course of one of my many facebook battles (I don’t necessarily see a futility in them if the person hasn’t unfriended me yet), I was berated for defending the rights of transgender citizens to use the bathroom of their chosen gender, not the one they were assigned at birth. Keep in mind I have not yet come out to my friends. One such friend angrily asked me, “The fuck do you care about them? It doesn’t personally affect you, does it?”
And although in fact it did affect me personally, because this is very much a fight on my character and my profession, that question struck me as very odd. Do people really think that we cannot or should not give a damn about something or someone if we ourselves aren’t expecting to get something out of it? Doesn’t that fly in the face of the charity work nonpartisan, religious and nonreligious volunteers do for other people?
Instead of choosing to come out right then and there and make the argument more personal (and therefore a little more subjective), I chose to grill them right back on what charity really is. You’re giving your time, your money, or something of your own to help improve the life of another human being, with ZERO expectation in return. Even if there’s no thanks. Some might say that they are charitable because it makes them feel like a better person, that they might not be as bad as the world tells them they are. Some might say that they are expected to be charitable because of a religious belief or some holiday or some leader told them to be charitable.
I’m quite aware that even writing a blog post about what being charitable is could very well be subjected to a possibility that it was just to get attention, to have praise and thanks lavished upon oneself. My father probably saw it that way, as part of his being a sociopath drove him to seek the shield of others’ adoration and admiration to hide behind. Ironically, he hated it when I donated money at the grocery checkout lines, or outside Walmart with the red kettles, and he certainly didn’t approve of gofundme’s.
Thankfully, he’s out of my life and not breathing down my neck on every decision I make. But back to the topic, which is where I really don’t giving money away to charity. I’m single, probably will be for a very long time as I transition, and have only one family member left, my poor mother. I have a decent job I enjoy that doesn’t pay a lot, but I live with her and we make things work, and we’re amazingly well off considering the political climate. I am ever conscious of how unlucky many of my gaming friends are, or how less well off they are, and I can finally start doing something about it.
I once donated a bit of money to a gofundme effort before there were gofundme’s, sort of a volunteer freelance project. See nearly three decades ago, when pc gaming was in its infancy, LucasArts released several games that revolutionized adventure stories, one of them being Escape from Monkey Island. The other, which my father chose for me instead, was LOOM. It was a musical-focused game that had the player-character cast spells through musical notes recited in a particular pattern. Some patterns were reversable by singing backwards. The game had a lot of depth and alternate means to solve the puzzles. And it was slated to be a trilogy. Only at the culmination of the first game, we got a hell of a cliffhanger... and LucasArts never delivered, only hinting briefly at what the titles of the 2nd and 3rd games would be. In the following years, and decades, the best we got were ports and special editions of the first LOOM game, some even going as far as providing voiced dialogue for ALL of the game’s speech. If that wasn’t commitment, I’m not sure what was; and yet the series just never continued.
Then a driven and story-loving nerd who, like many of us middle-aged gamers who grew up with LOOM, decided to continue the series himself by not only writing the story for the next two games, but also to hire programmers, testers, artists, musicians and coders to create a purely fan-based, fan-funded pair of sequels. Only, as you could imagine, following in the footsteps of a very iconically and archaic game art style required people with very niche skills, and all of those people needed to make a living. Paying for all of it became very difficult and very scarce. I think the project was a few years in development, barely halfway to even the first playable alpha demo, back when I stumbled upon it after searching for a sequel. I was young and idealistic, but no less idealistic than I am now, and shrugged. These guys might never get off the ground, even with a significant donation. But, Hell, I grew up with this too and want to see the story resolved. So I gave them their biggest donation in years (which appears to have inspired others to top it, as months later bigger cash flowed in) and thought nothing of the offers to put my name in the game as an easter egg, or to have a character named after me or whatever. Maybe in the credits, okay, but that’s not why I donated money.
I donated money because I want them to succeed. I want hardworking talented artists and caring people to stay employed so they can continue being hardworking talented artists and caring people. My friends used to tell me I sounded like an asshole when I told them I had money I was willing to throw around for the good of my friends. I was so confused then, and maybe I can understand the danger or the appearance of wanting to be a savior or somesuch. But I have very little in my life to throw money at, and I figure it’s far better than a WoW Token or a new car or a 4K TV or something I don’t need. Better to make the world better one choice at a time, because God knows there’s a shitload of stuff fighting to make the world worse many choices at a time.
I paid $2,000 for the custom-fitted, glow-in-the-dark Mass Effect N7 fury cosplay latex costume back in 2013. The tailor, Andrey (better known as Andromeda Latex now), was not very well known back then for his revolutionary catsuit patterns, latex designs and layering, as well as the reactive coating that made it glow under black light. After helping to fund what I saw as a very worthy artist being underappreciated, he got a few more ideas from progressively happy customers, and hit the jackpot making Evangelion plugsuits and Overwatch costumes. He has more work than he knows what to do with, and his waitlist is more than a year long. When he moved locations, he had a rare opportunity to make only specific costumes for a short time. I paid 2K for another one, just as much to own another rare and high-quality cosplay as to support an awesome human being who I thought deserved to stay in business.
So, um, yeah. I’m not rich. I make barely $35K a year being a newspaper editor and designer, but I rather like it. And living at home with an open-minded but damaged mother means I’m well capable of living within my means. Looking after me isn’t a big deal, isn’t a big upkeep. So when I offer an artist payment with no concern about the price tag, or help pay for someone’s bus ticket out of their shitty hometown, or help fill a few shelves at the pantry... I’m not doing it for God, I’m not doing it for the golden plaque, I’m not even doing it to escape from the shadow of my father’s upbringing. I can very much get by. I’m no high-roller, but... this world, with all the shit that happens to good people... I’m sorry Facebook ‘friends’, but I very much have a stake in this fight. I don’t know why you don’t feel the same way, with all the religious drivel you preach to me every day.
I hope the money goes to good use, and that it helps bring about happiness and goodness in this entropic world we inhabit. Would that money could solve all of our problems =\
It’s like Bill and Ted often said, “Be excellent to each other.”
