Nude Lipstick: Timeless Elegance for Sophisticated Beauty
Tumblr media
Discover the allure of nude lipstick.
Ladies, we all know that finding the perfect lipstick shade is like finding the holy grail of beauty products.
Tumblr media
And when it comes to achieving a natural, effortless look, nude lipstick is your secret weapon.
Embrace Your Natural Beauty with Nude Lipstick
Nude lipstick can effortlessly enhance your natural beauty, whether you're going for a subtle everyday look or a glam night out. In this comprehensive guide, we'll spill the tea on everything you need about nude lipstick and how to rock this timeless trend like a pro.
The Magic of Nude Lipstick
Nude lipstick is the ultimate go-to shade that beautifully complements any skin tone. Its subtle and understated hue effortlessly enhances your natural lip color, giving you a fresh and radiant look. Nude shades range from soft peachy tones to warm caramel hues, allowing you to find the perfect match for your complexion.
Choosing the Right Nude Shade
Selecting the perfect nude lipstick is all about finding the shade that flatters your skin tone and enhances your unique features. Here are some tips to help you choose the right nude shade for you:
Know Your Undertone: Determine whether you have warm, cool, or neutral undertones. If you have warm undertones, opt for nude lipsticks with peachy or golden hues. If you have cool undertones, choose shades with pink or mauve undertones. Neutral undertones can rock a wide range of nude shades.
Experiment with Different Shades: Be bold and try different shades to find the one that makes you feel confident and beautiful. Remember, everyone's perfect nude shade is different, so play around and have fun with it!
Consider Your Lip Pigmentation: If you have naturally pigmented lips, use slightly deeper nude shades to achieve the desired effect. On the other hand, if your lips are less pigmented, opt for lighter nude shades that provide a soft and natural look.

Achieving the Perfect Nude Lip Look
There's something genuinely magical about achieving the perfect nude lip look. That effortless yet captivating style enhances your natural beauty and leaves you feeling confident and radiant. But before you can accomplish that picture-perfect pout, it's essential to prep your lips for the best application possible. Your lips deserve a little TLC, and with the proper prep, your nude lipstick will glide on smoothly and flawlessly.
Prepping Your Lips for Nude Lipstick
Before applying any lipstick, it's essential to prep your lips to ensure a smooth and flawless application. Follow these simple steps:
Exfoliate: Gently exfoliate your lips with a lip scrub or a soft toothbrush to remove dead skin cells. This will create a smooth canvas.
Hydrate: Moisturize your lips with a lip balm to keep them hydrated and plump. Allow the lip balm to absorb for a few minutes before applying your lipstick.
Prime: For long-lasting wear, consider using a lip primer or a light layer of foundation on your lips. This will help the nude lipstick adhere better and prevent feathering.
Applying Nude Lipstick like a Pro
Now that your lips are prepped and ready, it's time to apply your lipstick for a flawless finish. Follow these steps to achieve a picture-perfect pout:
Outline Your Lips: Start by outlining your lips with a nude lip liner that matches your lipstick shade. This will define your lip shape and prevent your lipstick from bleeding.
Fill In: Gently fill in your lips with your chosen product, staying within the lip liner. Start from the center and work your way towards the corners, ensuring an even application.
Blot and Set: Blot your lips with a tissue to remove any excess product after applying the first layer. Apply a second layer of lipstick for added intensity and longevity. For a matte finish, lightly dust some translucent powder over your lips.

How to Apply Lipstick Like a Pro in 4 Simple Steps + Tips
Applying lipstick, the right way is an art, which can help you achieve fuller, juicier lips. With the right amount of guidance, you can easily enhance the look of your lips. Read further to know how to apply lipstick like a pro.
Lipstick is one of the most essential makeup products that can instantly boost one's look and confidence. However, choosing the right lipstick and applying it correctly can be a tedious task if you are a newbie in the world of cosmetics. Here is a 4-step process and a few important tips which can help you apply lipstick like a pro.
How to apply lipstick like a pro
Prep your lips before applying lipstick: Prep your lips to get a smooth, soft, and clean base for your lipstick. You can use a warm washcloth and gently rub your lips. You can also exfoliate your lips with a mild exfoliating scrub. Make sure that you don’t hurt your lips by over-exfoliating.
Moisturize your lips: It is important to keep your lips hydrated while applying lipstick, to avoid chapped lips. Therefore, you should moisturize your lips with lip balm. The lip balm will not only keep your lips soft and hydrated, but it will also protect them from harmful UV rays.
Define your lips with a lip liner: This is a crucial step, that will help you achieve defined and fuller lips all day long. Use a lip liner to line your lips and also fill your lips for a long-lasting effect. Choose a lip liner that matches the color of your lipstick. Start at your cupid’s bow and line the top lip, followed by the bottom lip. While lining the bottom lip, start at the corners.
Apply the lipstick: Once your lips are prepped, moisturized, and lined, you can start applying your preferred lipstick. You can opt for satin lipstick or creamy matte lipstick. A satin lipstick will give you a creamy cum matte finish but matte liquid lipstick will give you a velvety matte finish. Start your lipstick at the center of your bottom lip and spread it evenly.
Additional tips to apply lipstick like a pro
Regular lipstick has very little chance to clump up, but liquid lipstick can start clumping up if not applied properly. So, make sure to apply your liquid lipstick evenly, without letting it form clumps.
If you are applying liquid lipstick then don’t smudge your lips immediately. This is because many liquid lipsticks take some time to dry out.
For long-lasting effects, you can use tissue paper. In the case of liquid lipstick, place the tissue on top of your lips and brush some talcum powder over the tissue. This will lock your lipstick and keep it intact for the rest of the day, thereby giving it a matte finish. Whereas for regular lipstick, you can hold the tissue paper in between your lips and kiss it gently.
Conclusion:
The above-mentioned process and additional tips can help you apply lipstick like a pro. As a result, you can get smoother, fuller, and juicier lips with the help of these tips. If you are looking for a perfect lipstick with long-lasting effects, then you can opt for Viseart’s Vibrant Finish Matte Lip Paint. It comes in a wide range of shades to choose from. Whatever lipstick you opt for, make sure that your lips are properly hydrated before applying any lipstick.
Viseart is a leading cosmetic brand in France, that serves high-quality, sophisticated cosmetic products to customers from across the globe. All its makeup products are well-formulated, vegan, and cruelty-free, and also have a good consistency. My makeup basics:
Makeup can really be broken down into four subheadings --
FACE, EYES, LIPS, BROWS
I've found face makeup to be the most important to grownups, because everyone wants flawless-looking, even skin (especially as we age). But personally, I am having the most fun with eye makeup. So, really it's all about what you want to emphasize and what kind of makeup products excite you the most (I have a friend who could care less about eyeshadow but has probably 50 lipsticks -- to each their own!). That said, I think YouTube is still a plethora of amazing information. I've gone on SO many tutorial spirals. I love learning different techniques and seeing how people apply products. It's crazy fun.
MY HOLY GRAIL PRODUCTS: (which, honestly, take or leave all this advice, makeup is totally subjective and whatever works for you might not work for me and vice versa but there are tons of popular products and I use a fair amount of them):
FACE:
— Start with a moisturizer. I use just daily cerave. It’s cheap and helps your skin stay hydrated which is the most important thing before applying makeup!!!
-- Dr. Jart BB cream. I love that it's a buildable coverage, and it comes in two shades (fair/medium and medium/dark), and it really melts into the skin, especially on top of a moisturizer. Shockingly blendable.
-- Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. If you're looking for a splurge foundation -- this is it. I had it once and will never be able to afford it again, but if I could... I'd definitely add it to my regular rotation for full face of makeup.
-- Beauty Blender. I have tried SO many other knock offs. Just regular damn sponges. Nothing blends quite as well as a damp beauty blender. I don't know why or what's so magical about it, but it is.
-- Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. This is another beloved product. I have tried many other concealers and always come back to this one. Apparently the ELF camo concealer is a cheaper dupe but I have yet to try it.
-- Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder. Can be loose or compact. But this was a thing I didn't even realize I needed until I started watching tutorials and was like... why does my foundation look gross and theirs look so smooth? It's because they set it with powder. Apparently you HAVE to do that. Nyx has an excellent less expensive one, but this particular one is magic.
-- NARS Blush in ORGASM. This is a universally flattering blush in a sort of peachy gold. My mom said she hated it because it is "too glittery" but when I put it on her she was obsessed with how youthful it made her skin, and how she glowed. I’ve been wearing it for the last decade.
-- Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Palette. If you're not into highlighter, no worries, but if you're into trying it out... this palette cannot be beat. Four shades of glowy perfection.
-- BRUSHES: A large powder brush, a medium blush brush, a small highlighter brush.
EYES:
-- MAC paint pot in PAINTERLY. This is what I use as my eye primer. I know a lot of people who just use concealer. It basically functions the same. But this stuff makes sure my eyeshadow stays put and doesn't crease, even if I'm out dancing and sweating. I’m a loyalist.
-- Stila Liquid Eyeliner or NYX Liquid Eyeliner. Both are felt tip markers and SUPER easy to learn how to use. I am now a winged liner PRO. If you're more into pencil, nothing beats the Yves Saint Laurent or NARS pencils. Makeup Forever is okay in a bind.
-- My two favorite neutral palettes (which is what everyone should start with) are the Charlotte Tillbury Pillow Talk and Urban Decay Naked Palettes. They have a wide range of colors for all skin tones and blend really well. Both shimmers and mattes.
-- Mascara is buyers preference. I love a thick voluminous lash, while I know others prefer a long lash. For voluminous recs -- Dior Blackout or Benefit Bad Gal Lash are my two faves.
-- BRUSHES: Crease brush, medium application brush, fluffy blending brush, flat liner brush
LIPS:
-- My favorite lipsticks are from NARS, MAC, KVD, and FENTY. I love the way matte lipsticks look, but they're sort of out of fashion now. Satin and gloss have come back into trend.
-- A neutral lip pencil will go well with any lipstick. Except red. Always get a red pencil for a red lip.
-- Don't forget a pencil sharpener!
-- BRUSHES: A lip brush. This is a thing, and it actually makes application so much easier, especially when using matte lipsticks.
BROWS:
-- This is the one thing that evades me. They are a mystery to me.
-- Everyone else's holy grail product is Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow
Believe it or not, that is my bare bare minimum of what I need when I’m doing my makeup. Everything else is just gravy. I use all these products every day when doing my makeup looks. Now that you have your makeup and your tools... how the hell do you apply all this stuff?
This website is a really good place to start for beginners — it’s a solid compilation of some big name YouTube MUAs (Jaclyn Hill, Michelle Pham, Raye Raye, etc) and some beginners basics tutorials. I highly recommend searching for a beauty guru with the same skin tone/hair color as yourself because it’s easier to imagine how colors will look on your own face.
Other resources —
The Makeup Chair https://m.youtube.com/user/TheMakeupChair (they have an especially informative video about finding out what eye shape you have, and it totally changed my eyeshadow application game!)
Sephora https://m.youtube.com/user/sephora/videos (which focuses most on reviewing products but also has helpful tutorials, and I enjoy learning about new makeup trends from the store that carries the biggest brands)
Tati https://m.youtube.com/user/GlamLifeGuru/videos (does a lot of product reviews as well but focuses on drug store brands and lower price point makeup, she’s kind of bitchy but fun to watch)
And then last but def not least. Vogue’s YouTube has an amazing makeup series of celebrities just putting on their own makeup called Beauty Secrets. It is so much fun to watch and I’ve learned so much from just watching people go through their own routines and what they enjoy.
Okay. I think that’s probably MORE than enough to start you off with hahah. Let me know if you have any questions, concerns, thoughts. I’m more than happy to chat makeup products or techniques any time.

5 Makeup Mistakes You Can Easily Avoid
Tumblr media
It’s natural to make a few makeup mistakes here and there. You may have gone through a “more is more” eyeliner phase in middle school, or forgotten to blend in your concealer a few times. From beginners to pro MUA’s, every beauty junkie has had a “what was I even thinking?” moment. But there comes a point when you realize that these makeup mistakes are getting a little out of hand, and it’s easier than you may think to fix them.
You don’t need to completely redo your liner after getting carried away with a wing, just grab a Q-tip. And dry skin from over-exfoliating heals up on its own with time. But there are a few common makeup mistakes that just about everybody has made at least once… and if you say you haven’t, you’re probably lying.
Here are Mira’s top 5 common beauty errors, and easy ways to correct them.
Not cleaning your brushes
Your favorite kabuki brush flawlessly buffs in your foundation every day, the least you can do is give it a good scrub. If you go too long without cleaning your brushes, it leads to a buildup of bacteria that not only wears out the bristles and makes them last for a shorter time… but could also mean that you’re basically sweeping dirt and bacteria onto your skin. Gross.
How to make sure that your makeup brushes last longer and blend to their best? Invest in a good makeup brush cleaning spray and soak them on a weekly basis. This will keep your makeup brushes and your skin happy and healthy.
Applying makeup right after moisturizer
It happens sometimes. You’re in a rush to get out the door in the morning, and start applying your face makeup right after your moisturizer to save time. But that’s a major makeup mistake, as it can cause your foundation to appear thin, blotchy, or not cover the entire surface of your skin. It also means your coverage will more than likely start to deteriorate throughout the day… all because you didn’t wait an extra minute for your moisturizer to dry!
Trust us, it’s worth it to let your moisturizer absorb into the skin for at least 60 seconds before you start applying your primer, foundation, and concealer. Your makeup will last longer, look better, and you’ll know that your moisturizer did its job.
Blend, blend, blend
Blending is an art that can make or break a makeup look, and sadly it’s often the latter. An unblended contour can make your face look unnatural or muddy, and don’t even get us started on eyeshadow. That’s why you need a good set of beauty tools to avoid this common makeup mistake. A typical brush set contains a variety of tools for eyes, face, and lips – each with a versatile function. Remember, there are no rules in makeup. That means if you want to use an eye shading brush for your nose contour or highlight with a blush brush… it’s fair game.
Not moisturizing your lips
This one is especially harmful for the lipstick enthusiasts. You know, like that girl in the office who can rock a red lip anywhere and everywhere. We love a good liquid lipstick as much as the next person, but it’s important to moisturize your lips regularly before applying color. Adding a bit of colorless lip balm before gliding on lipstick can make a major difference, as this keeps your lips from drying out and the flaky patches less evident.
If lip balm isn’t doing the trick, you can always apply a quality lip mask to keep your lips plump, hydrated, and ready to take on any new hue.
Forgetting your neck area
And your ears. And your chest. Many practice the makeup mistake of applying foundation only above the chin, and ending up with a neck and chest area that’s two shades lighter than their face. Unless you’re wearing a turtleneck, this will end up looking like the weirdest tan line ever. The good news is that you’re not alone in this, and it’s a simple fix that only takes a few extra seconds.
Grab your favorite brush or beauty sponge and be sure to cover your entire neck area with foundation, in addition to checking for any missed spots on your face. The most commonly missed areas are the crevices near your eyes and nose, as well as around your ears.

elle aka @honeydrippingbeehives tagged me to do a makeup questionnaire!!! thank u :o! it’s a lot so I’m putting it under a read more!
What foundation/concealer do you use? I use actually no foundation!!! I hate anything heavy on my face but I do use the Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer in #10 Fair!! I apply it all over my face and then sometimes use a color correcter! I have been thinking about buying the Pro Filt'r Hydrating Longwear Foundation by Fenty!!! heard great stuff about it!
What do you think of fake eyelashes? I love love LOVE the look of fake eyelashes!!! sadly I have really shaky hands and bad hand eye coordination so I can’t apply them correctly! Sugarpill’s lashes do catch my eye a lot tho... What makeup tools do you use in makeup application? I use a brush set bought by my sister a few christmases ago by BH (can’t remember the name sadly!) and a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge literally this compared to a 20$ b***** b****** you KNOW this is worth more! What makeup do you currently wear every day? usually I do my eye makeup first! I prime my lids with the concealer mentioned before & then NYX’s Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk! either for daily I’m using the TooFaced Sweet Peach Palette or The NYX Ultimate Palette in Brights! for my brows(either before or after shadow) I use L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer in Dark Brunette! eyeliner is my next step and I use Maybelline Eye Studio Master Precise Eyeliner in Black! mascara is like the part I dread but I use a mini Caution Extreme Lash Mascara in Ultra Black! then the concealer on my face! powder with Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder in Naturally Neutral my great grandmother used this brand apparently! I love the old lady smell djdjnd and the use the sparkly pink shadow from the toofaced palette for cheeks and nose and my lip changes daily! BOOM! god that’s alot ddjdjd What do you think of makeup?  honestly the pressure we feel from ourselves and others to buy/wear makeup is very harmful?? when I don’t wanna wear makeup I don’t and when I do, I do. I know when I start working it’ll probably be expected of me to wear it everyday, but I have no problems with my face without makeup. I know I am naturally beautiful! What cosmetic products have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?  Anything by Fenty and Sugarpill!!!!!!  How often do you shop for makeup?  unless I’m buying like just a cheap lipstick or a refill on something, I barely do! Who are your favorite bloggers/vloggers? I don’t really watch a lot of beauty but RawBeautyKristi sometimes! Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains? I think they’re very cute and I’d love to try one! Do you subscribe to any beauty boxes? sadly I don’t! When I start working I’m sure I will! Favorite recent beauty buy? both the powder and eyeliner mentioned above! All-time favorite beauty item? NYX Suede Matte Liner in Sandstorm ugh...and the brights palette! Any beauty brands you won’t support?. The brands elle mentioned (jstar, kat von d, limecrime, the kardashians) I also do not buy from or support!
I tag anyone who wants to do this!!!

I was tagged by @cutefuntime for this makeup questionnaire!
What foundation/concealer do you use? I alternate between a Clinique foundation gifted to me by @neverknewandneverwill, the BB cream from Covergirl, and absolutely nothing because I’ve been breaking around my chin lately and I don’t want to bother it.
What do you think of fake eyelashes? Any time I try to apply them they get so gummy with the glue. I wish I could apply them properly because I think I’d like them otherwise! One year I’d like to be Lisa Simpson for Halloween and use those individual Electra Heart-style ones for more of a cartoonish look.
What makeup tools do you use in makeup application? I get almost all of my brushes and knockoff beauty blenders at Daiso whenever I visit California and I get some of my eyeshadow brushes through my Ipsy bags.
What makeup do you currently wear every day? I wear the Benefit Gimme Brow+ in warm golden blondie, Kiko Milano’s Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick and Everlasting Colour Precision Lip Liner in Cherry, Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion, Pop Beauty’s Bright Up Your Life eyeshadow palette in Naturally Bare, Too Faced’s Love Flush in Justify My Love, various highlighters from my Ipsy bags, Too Faced’s Damn Girl! mascara (a sample because I would never personally buy expensive mascara), NYX Vinyl Liquid Liner, and MAC ‘s Prep + Prime Fix+ setting spray (also a gift! My go-to is normally the L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Spray & Set in a travel size). When I want a more nudeish pink than red I like NYX’s Soft Matte Lip Cream in Sao Paulo.
What do you think of makeup? I agree with @cutefuntime‘s comments about makeup being a tool of patriarchal capitalism. I started a high-stress management job this year, and I already know that during our busy season I’m going to have to use the little time and energy I’ll have to put on makeup before work to be taken seriously by customers. I’ve also started dating someone pretty recently, and I’m secretly so scared of him seeing me with zero makeup on (that might be an anxiety thing also).
What cosmetic products have you always wanted to try but still haven’t? I believe it’s Tarte that has a storefront in San Francisco where you can design your own lipstick shade. I would love to do something personalized like that!
How often do you shop for makeup? Aside from getting an Ipsy glam bag every other month, only when I need to refill/replace things I like. Every once in a while I’ll treat myself to something from Sephora. My last major splurge was at the beginning of this year, I got the Fenty Beauty Stunna lip paint in Uncensored and the travel duo of Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf. I also stopped by the Kiko storefront when I was in NYC in June because I loved their makeup when I was in Italy a few years back.
Who are your favorite bloggers/vloggers? I used to watch Kim Chi and Naomi Smalls’ MUG series on but other than that YouTube is for Bill Hader interviews and NOTHING ELSE.
Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains? I do! I actually used lipstick as blush for a short while before falling in love with my Too Faced one and sometimes I’ll apply a little pink/nude highlighter onto my eyelids with a pinky instead of eyeshadow if I’m in a rush.
Do you subscribe to any beauty boxes? I get the Glam Bag from Ipsy every other month.
Favorite recent beauty buy? A fuckton of brushes at Daiso last time I was in California!
All-time favorite beauty item? I love the Besame Victory Red lipstick. I’m not sure if it’s my no. 1 favorite of all time but it’s high up there, a classic red lip has been my signature for about 6 years to the point where people don’t recognize me without it, and that’s one of the best shades IMHO. I also love the Urban Decay Mrs. Mia Wallace lipstick because it would look cooler/warmer on you depending on your skin tone!
Any beauty brands you won’t support? I’m copying @cutefuntime and sayingJeffree*, Kat Von D, and any Kardashian makeup brand. I also stopped supporting LimeCrime after learning more about Doe Deere.
I’m tagging @oh-its-way-past-my-bedtime, @neverknewandneverwill, and @cacupid because you all serve up some great looks! Anyone else who’s interested in being tagged LMK!

10  Makeup Tips for Disaster-Proof Bridal Beauty
Tumblr media
Getting married is meant to be the simplest time of your romantic life, but without proper prep, it is often something of an organizational nightmare. Every bride deserves to seem flawless on their day, whether you're enlisting the pros or going the DIY route. Weddings, however, aren't almost at some point — it's more of a marathon, instead of just a race. So start planning early and do not be afraid to indulge a touch when getting your beauty strategy so as — book a facial (or six) and definitely do your due diligence find an excellent waterproof mascara (trust us thereon one). With this guide, your bridal beauty look, whichever you'll choose, will gorgeously take you from vows to Veuve so you'll say "I do" without having to stress about any unflattering candids throughout your nuptials. we will not guarantee that your wedding guests will behave or the catering won't run out of hors-d'oeuvres but at you'll look great while somebody else handles it for once.
Start Early With Skin Prep If you haven't been diligent about your skin-care routine, now's the time to start. "Getting regular facials makes an enormous difference in your skin's texture and helps you've got the simplest base for makeup," says makeup artist Tiffany Patton of White Rose Collective in NY City. Schedule monthly treatments (aim for a minimum of three) which will illuminate and firm your complexion, says facialist Regine Berthelot of latest York's Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa at the Plaza Hotel. to stop any last-minute irritation, skip extractions the month before.
Schedule an attempt Run (or Two) Kate Middleton (a literal princess) is rumored to possess done her own wedding-day makeup — and she or he nailed it — but many brides like better to usher in a professional . to seek out someone who understands your style, consult a couple of different makeup artists early. "You want to ascertain if you're employed well together," says makeup artist Landy Dean. Book a minimum of six months ahead, then schedule a further trial two months before the marriage. "You'll be more settled within the planning and can have a far better pity how you would like to seem," he says.
Make Your Makeup Last Though it'd feel otherwise, your day may be a marathon, not a sprint, and you will want your makeup to carry up through all photos, dance, toast, and selfie. that creates primer essential: Spread it on your face and eyelids (we love this one from Paula's Choice) and concrete Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion after cleansing and moisturizing, then top with a foundation to make a smooth base. "Apply everything in thin, even layers," says Patton. That goes for blush, highlighter, translucent powder, and lipstick, too. "Use a lip liner, placed on your lipstick, blot, add more lipstick, blot, and add more lipstick," says Patton. "This process really seals the merchandise to the lips and makes for an ideal stain."
Conceal Last-Minute Breakouts So, your rehearsal dinner lasted until dawn. No big deal. Put foundation on first. Then, to mask undereye circles, dot a creamy formula on the inner corners of your eyes with a brush and work it outward. Use your fingertip to softly press (not rub) the formula onto skin where it seems darker. To camouflage a zit, tap a rather tacky concealer right top of it with a synthetic bristle brush, says makeup artist Chrisanne Davis. "Don't sweep it back and forth," she says. "It will build up around the blemish." a couple of concealers we love: CoverGirl Outlast All-Day chump Concealer, Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer, and Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Camouflage Concealer. to offer it some endurance, top with translucent powder.
Aim For Looking Like Yourself Whether you normally wear minimal makeup or whether you favor more avant-garde looks — "Your day isn't a time to experiment," says Dean. "You want your photos to be timeless." One look that never fails: radiant skin, rosy cheeks, flushed lips, and a few definitions on the eyes. employing a gel eyeliner, work it into the bottom of your lashes, then apply it to the upper waterline, says Davis. "It gives you intensity without looking overdone or needing plenty of eye shadow. Plus, the wide-eyed effect is basically dreamy."
Get Glowy (Not Shiny) Skin "Luminous skin looks ethereal," says Davis. "But you do not need a strobe-light effect across your face in photos." to regulate shine, dust translucent powder across the forehead, sides of the nose, and on the chin with a powder puff. Then apply a soft, shimmery highlighter (Davis loves Nars Copacabana Illuminator) to only the temples and tops of cheekbones. "To brighten eyes, you'll also dab it on the inner corners and under the brow bone," she says. "It's so sheer, it's natural."
Falsies Are Optional but Waterproof Mascara isn't If you are a big crier, consider before tacking on false lashes. "Tears will lift the lash adhesive right off," says Davis. Curl your lashes and persist with a volumizing mascara instead, and whether you wear falsies or not, waterproof mascara may be a must.
Keep Your Manicure Simple Truly, your matrimonial manicure is up to you, but a reason why you'll want to stay nails neutral: a bright, punchy polish will distract from your beautiful white gown. Plus, chips are far more noticeable on bright nails (something you are doing not wants to be fussing over on a large day). persist with softer shades and confirm they're sheer, not chalky. Those whose skin has pink undertones should choose a sheer pink polish, like Smith & Cult's nail enamel in Ghost Edit. Women with olive undertones look good in warm beiges, like HIPPxRGB nail enamel in S3. For dark skin tones, either one works — just steer beyond whitish colors, which may come off as gray.
Pack a Touch-Up Kit Your day is going to be all smiles, kisses, champagne toasts, and even a couple of happy tears — so basically an enormous love fest through which even the foremost well-applied makeup is sure to fade. "Don't expect your initial makeup application to last eight hours," Dean says. Pack a touch-up kit with the essentials — blush, translucent powder, cotton swabs, and tissues — and stash it during a bridesmaid's clutch. And since you will be on your groom's arm for many of the days, ask him to hold a gloss in his pocket. "A pretty lip gloss during a shade almost like the lipstick you were wearing at the start of the day makes touch-ups quicker and easier," Davis says.
Leave Enough Time Save yourself from any last-minute rushing and append a couple of extra minutes to your prep time. "However long you think that your makeup will take, add half-hour," says Dean says. "The fear is that you're going to be sitting ready, but that rarely happens."

Party Makeup Tricks That Can Make Your Makeup Last All Night
This is the time for never-ending wedding events. The one good thing about these celebratory events is that they go on all night, but the one concern for all women is that our makeup hardly lasts all night. But then, you don’t want to worry about makeup tricks when you are busy dancing and swinging to some foot-tapping music. Right?
Make yourself party-ready and makeup-proof by adding a few more products and some hacks into your makeup regime. So, here we have for you 8 party makeup by the best makeup artist in Delhi tricks to make your makeup last through the entire celebration.
Party makeup tricks
1. Start On A Clean Slate
If there’s one thing that runs down makeup, it is the oil. And any product reacts best when put on smooth clean skin. So, make sure you exfoliate your skin, cleanse it with a gentle wash, protect your pores with a toner and then put on an oil-free moisturizer to prep it up. Let it sink in for a few minutes before you start the art.
 2. Apply Your Primer
Primer is a cream that acts as a base between your skin and the makeup, thereby protecting it.  It prevents chemicals from leaking into your pores, seals in the moisturizer, lets you apply your best makeup more evenly, and makes it last longer. It sounds like a miracle product, doesn’t it? So, though often overlooked in importance, it really does magic to your skin. Any mineral-based or oil-free primer can be your savior.
 3. Use Waterproof Makeup
One of the best makeup tips is to get all the right tools for a lasting effect. One of these is to switch to waterproof eyeliner, mascara, and eye shadow, for blotch-free sharp eyes. But don’t forget to remove your makeup before calling it a night, or you’ll have panda eyes in the morning!
 4. Avoid The Flaky-Cakey
Instead of rubbing on a heavy layer of foundation, apply several light layers over your concealer and build it up to give it a natural and smooth look. Blend, blend and then blend some more, as it ensures that your base doesn’t start to look cakey by the time you join the party.
 5. Set Your Makeup Right
Just like a hair spray keeps your styled hair intact, a makeup setting spray locks in your makeup and makes it last longer. If you are not comfortable with a makeup spray, then just apply some setting powder. The powder will give a matte finish over your makeup, minus the grease, making your beauty at home regime easy.
6. Long-Lasting lipstick
Admit it or not, lipsticks are always the savior of any waning makeup trick. Hence, a little more effort to make that lipstick stay longer can save you from any makeup faux pas later. Always start with smudging a thin layer of foundation on your lips. Outline your lips with a lip-liner of any neutral hue or the one complementing the shade of your lipstick. And finally, you can apply your lipstick which will now have a much longer life.
7. Carry your makeup essentials
To keep yourself safe from any makeup melting emergencies, carry a pouch of all your makeup essentials. This must include your lipstick, a compact in case of a sweaty situation, a concealer in case of a smudgy situation, and tissues.
8. Keep Your Hands Off Your Face
The last thing you’ve got to do is resist the fidgety urge to touch your face every now and then. It can cause your makeup to smudge. If you resist touching your face, this makeup trick will take you a long way in looking beautiful and avoiding breakouts. So, yes you love that pretty face of yours, but don’t touch it.
With these 8 makeup tricks by the best makeup artist in Delhi along with the right products, you will not only be able to get ready like a pro but sport a superb look all-night-long. So, while the other girls struggle through the night to look good you can give them something to be jealous of with your all-night lasting makeup trick. Knowing that you have your makeup essentials and how to use them right will certainly grant you a boosted confidence and a tension-free mood to enjoy those parties more!

Hi everyone,
I’ve been doing Fenty Beauty reviews for so long now I think even I forget how many products I actually have and every time I get a new product I always think it’s my new favourite so I wanted to do a list of products I think are genuinely worth getting after a few months of using them ......
My number one holy grail recommendation is the Invisimatte Powder £24.00, this palette makes my oily skin disappear with one tap which is just ridiculous and yet it works with every foundation I use whether it’s fenty or drugstore and never leaves me looking caked. The palette in this pic is actually my second invisimatte powder, when my first ran out I had to replace it straight away and I tried using other brands for a cheaper alternative but honestly nothing compared.
Next up we have the Fenty Gloss Bombs, Fu$$y (pink) £16.00 was my first Gloss Bomb and fenty product I ever used and to this day it’s the only lipgloss I’ll wear. I now have all three shades and I use them daily whether it’s prepping my lips for lipstick or just by themselves. Like the invisimatte powder this is another every day product for me. I’m still surprised I haven’t run out yet considering how much I use them especially diamond milk too.
In third place we have the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Primer £24,00. This primer is a real favourite of mine, it’s one of the few primers that leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated and yet grabs on to foundation and doesn’t let it fade during the day. I recently bought the new mattifying fenty primer that is meant to stop skin from getting oily but honestly after trying it s few days the original foundation leaves my skin matte for so much longer.
In fourth place we have the Fenty Beauty Flyliner £17.00 in the shade cuz I’m black. Out of all the eyeliners I’ve ever used this liner is such a gorgous jet black shade that when you wear it over colourful eyeshadow it just shows up pure black unlike other shades where the colour fades easily. I love using this eyeliner when I’m going out and I need something that dries quickly when you apply it and it won’t shift all night long which this eyeliner does effortlessly. Even though I have a few staple eyeliners I stick to this one is always in my top collection.
And lastly we have the Fenty Beauty Killawatt freestyle highlighter duo £28.00 in the shades lighting dust/ fire crystal. Now the reason I chose this item over the Moroccan Spice eyeshadow palette is because out of that palette I mainly use the shimmer shades over the matte formulas because in the matte colours there isn’t a massive variation. Then I started thinking that I’ve recently been getting more use using my highlighter as not only a highlight but also eyeshadow for my centre lid. I love the highlighters because they really are multi use and the only highlighter I’ve been using since i got it (probably to get my moneys worth in retrospect). The highlight itself has such an amazing buildable shine that it’s no wonder it is one of the most hyped products.
I do adore my fenty collection as a whole and i do end up using a least a few products from the collection daily but for those who wanted to know what were the best and most practical products to get here you are a list of my ride or dies. All the products I’ve mentioned I think are products that make Fenty Beauty so unique as a collection and so different to other makeup releases.
If you’re shopping fenty I hope this review helps a little.
Lots of love

Primer- Studio Perfect Photo Loving Primer by Nyx Cosmetics and Primer Potion in Original Formula by Urban Decay.
Eyeshadow- Lumi above the crease from the Blue Moon Palette by Colourpop. On the lower half of the lid I applied the Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk by Nyx and blended it out. Then I applied Clued In from the Blue Moon Palette by Colourpop. Then I applied the Slim Eye Pencil In White Pearl by Nyx along the lashline. When that didn’t turn out quite how I wanted I applied Iman from the Saharan Palette by Juvias Place on top of that, and lastly applied some Super Shock Shadow In Tassel by Colourpop along the lashline so the white was more vibrant.
Mascara- BFF Mascara in Little White Lie by Colourpop. Let that dry and applied BFF Mascara in Blue Ya Mind by Colourpop on top and my hunch was right! Applying the white mascara first made the colored mascara more vibrant on my dark eyelashes and it also worked as a primer making the lashes longer.
Powder- Matte Finish Pressed Powder In Shade #205 by BH Cosmetics.
Highlighter- Duochromatic Illuminating Powder in Twilight Tint by Nyx Cosmetics.
Concealer- Conceal and Define in C3 by Makeup Revolution.
Lip Color- Lip Liner in Plum by Nyx to prevent feathering along the edge of my lipstick, Truth or Dare by Sugarpill with Moonlit Lip Topper in Moonrise by Black Moon Cosmetics on top.
As a side note: I’m not super into the Fourth of July. I haven’t felt patriotic in a long time, and am very upset over the current political state of the country. I am Puerto Rican, I am disabled, and I have lots of lgbt+ friends, so I am very pro human rights. I also hate the trash fireworks leave behind and feel like they’re bad for the environment and too many people get injured because they aren’t careful with literal explosives. Long story short, this was my fourth of July look for this year.

How to Apply Makeup: The Complete Step-by-Step Guide
HOW TO PREP YOUR FACE FOR MAKEUP
Before we get into the best order to apply your makeup, it’s important to work your way through your skin care routine. You don’t need to spend a ton of time on your skin care routine, but there are a few simple steps you should take to ensure your skin is ready for makeup. Below, three skin care steps to take before makeup
STEP 1: FACIAL CLEANSER
The first step in your skin care routine should be washing your face. Try a clay facial cleanser, like the L'Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Detox & Brighten Facial Cleanser, L'Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Purify & Mattify all of which are formulated to rid the surface of your skin of impurities. Squeeze a small amount of facial cleanser into your hands, add water to transform it from clay to mousse, then gently massage it onto your skin and rinse off thoroughly and pat dry.
STEP 2: FACE SCRUB
Exfoliating with a face scrub is a great way to prep your skin for makeup. Use the L'Oréal Paris Pure-Sugar Nourish & Soften Face Scrub. Smooth a small amount of face scrub onto clean, dry skin, then massage over your face with wet fingers and rinse off thoroughly. You can use our face scrubs three times a week.
STEP 3: MOISTURIZER
Once you’re done washing your face and exfoliating, move onto moisturizer to create a smooth base for makeup application. Pick a moisturizer that’s formulated for your skin type, like the  L'Oréal Paris Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for Extra Dry Skin. Each of these moisturizers is formulated with hyaluronic acid and aloe vera water for long-lasting hydration
THE BEST ORDER TO APPLY FACE MAKEUP
In terms of makeup, acing your face should be your first order of business before you move on to your lip makeup and eye makeup. But things can get complicated. Do you really need a primer? Does concealer come before or after foundation? We’re here to take guesswork out of the equation with our step-by-step guide to applying face makeup from start to finish.
STEP 1: PRIMER
Using a primer is one of the best things you can do when it comes to applying makeup. Primer, like the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Lock Makeup Primer, can help to give you an even canvas to work on, as it can help smooth lines. Primer can also help your makeup wear more evenly throughout the day. Choose a primer with a glowing finish if you have dry skin or a primer with a matte finish if you have oily skin. Regardless of which primer you pick, apply it all over your face or to targeted areas, depending on your skin’s specific concerns
STEP 2: COLOR CORRECT
Have dark circles under eyes or redness you want to hide? Now’s the time to use a color correcting concealer, like one of the L'Oréal Paris True Match™ Color Correcting Crayons, to cover these upSimply blend a small amount of color-correcting concealer onto targeted areas using your finger.
STEP 3: CONCEALER
Once you’re done color correcting, finish the cover up process by applying a flesh-toned concealer, like L'Oréal Paris True Match™ Super-Blendable Multi-Use Concealer on top. Use the included applicator to blend and buff the concealer into your skin.
STEP 4: FOUNDATION
Your face wouldn’t be complete without a little foundation! There are so many different kinds of foundation out there, so choose one that suits your needs. For example, if you have oily skin, you may want to consider using a mattefinish foundation, like the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation. On the other hand, if you have dry skin, a radiant finish foundation, like the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation, might be a better option for you.
STEP 5: BRONZER, BLUSH, AND/OR HIGHLIGHTER
Next up: Get your glow on or fake a rosy tone by applying a little bronzer, blush, and/or highlighter. As far as bronzer and highlighter go, put them on areas where the sun would naturally hit your face (your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin). When it comes to blush, apply some to the apples of your cheeks—and remember to smile while doing so! Try the L'Oréal Paris True Match™ Lumi Bronze It Bronzer
THE BEST ORDER TO APPLY EYE MAKEUP
Done with your face? Now, it’s time to move on to applying eye makeup. Get your eyebrow pencil, eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara ready because it’s time to get started on your eye makeup!
STEP 1: EYEBROWS
Nowadays, it’s all about eyebrows—and the bigger, the better. Start by shaping and filling in your eyebrows with the L'Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Shape & Fill Mechanical Pencil to help create a well-defined arch.
STEP 2: EYE SHADOW
When applying eye shadow, follow this guide: First, dust color onto your lids, then follow up with a crease color, and finally, place a dab of highlighter along your brow bone. For a neutral eye makeup look for daytime, use the L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadows; for a shimmery nighttime eye makeup look, use the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Metallics Eye Shadows.
STEP 3: EYELINER
We’ve found that it’s easiest to apply eyeliner before mascara but after eye shadow. Reach for a waterproof eyeliner pencil, like the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner. You can even use this eyeliner in your waterline for added definition.
STEP 4: MASCARA
The final step in your eye makeup application routine? That should be mascara! Use the L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Washable Mascara for everyday for a night out on the town.
THE BEST ORDER TO APPLY LIP MAKEUP
You’re almost at the end! After you’re done with your face and eyes, it’s time to show your lips some love by following this step-by-step makeup routine.
STEP 1: LIP LINER
Before you apply lipstick, you should consider lining your lips—this can help prevent color from bleeding out or feathering. Choose a lip liner that’s the same shade as your lipstick and outline the natural line of your lips to help make your pout look fuller. You can also color in your lips with liner before applying the lipstick to help create a smooth base. Try the L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Lip Liner
STEP 2: LIPSTICK
Once you’ve prepped your lips with liner, go ahead and swipe on your lipstick shade of choice. With so many different colors and formulas available, the possibilities are basically endless! Whether you opt for something shimmery, like the L'Oréal Paris Infallible Paints/Lips Metallic, your pout is sure to look stunning.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick
Tumblr media
Price: $38.00
Shade: Le Rouge
Claims: In just one stroke, luxurious and highly pigmented color dresses the lips with intense hydration and antioxidant care. In a signature couture jewel-like packaging, Rouge Pur Couture delivers the promise of edgy style and ultimate feminine strength.
Ingredients:
Octyldodecanol: An emollient and emulsifier and solvent. It is a clear, colorless liquid that is often seen as a thickener in moisturizers because of its lubricating and emollient properties. Helps to form emulsions and prevents formulas from separating into its oil and liquid components. It can also reduce the tendency of finished products to generate foam when shaken. Acts as a lubricant on the skin, giving a soft, silky feel.
Butyloctyl Salicylate: The simplest aromatic carboxylic acid. A colorless, crystalline solid naturally found mostly in berries and essential oils. Mainly acts as a PH adjuster and preservative, although it can also be used to add fragrance to a product.
Stearyl/Ppg-3 Myristyl Ether Dimer Dilinoleate: It is an emollient and skin conditioning agent.
Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate: Mixture of texture-enhancing ingredient neopentyl glycol and grape-derived fatty acid heptanoic acid. The compound functions as a non-aqueous skin-softening agent and thickener.
Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate: Non-aqueous ester that functions as a thickener and binding agent, derived from the ingredient isostearic acid.
Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2: A sticky paste, semi-solid emollient often used as a lanolin substitute. It's valued for its high water-binding properties, excellent adhesion to the skin and glossy finish.
Polyethylene: Form of plastic (synthetic polymer) that has numerous functions in cosmetics products. Rounded polyethylene beads serve as an abrasive agent in many facial scrubs, often used instead of overly abrasive alternatives like walnut shells and ground fruit pits. Also used as a stabilizer, binding agent, thickener, and film-forming agent.
Microcrystalline Wax: Plastic-type, highly refined wax derived from petroleum and purified for use in cosmetics. Used as a thickener and to give products a semi-solid to solid smooth texture.
Polybutene: A oligomeric oil, sometimes derived from petroleum, that is used in its hydrogenated form, as a binder, epilating agent, thickener and lubricant. It is naturally tacky or sticky and is also used for its adhesive properties.
Hydrogenated Coco-Glycerides: A naturally derived emulsifier from glucose and vegetable oils, made of renewable vegetable sources. This skin-conditioning agent forms a barrier on the skin's surface to reduce water loss and softens skin.
Candelilla Wax: Used to protect the skin against moisture loss.
Titanium Dioxide: An earth mineral used in sunscreens that is capable of blocking both UVA and UVB rays; also used as a pigment.
Silica Dimethyl Silylate: A silica derivative used as an anti caking agent, bulking agent, slip modifier, viscosity increasing agent, emollient, and most often as a suspending agent. It is often found in cosmetics because of its ability to thicken while moisturizing, and provide long-lasting wear.
Tocopheryl Acetate: Its substantiated benefits include enhancing the efficacy of active sunscreen ingredients, reducing the formation of free radicals from exposure to UV rays, promoting the healing process, strengthening the skin's barrier function, protecting the skin barrier's lipid balance, and reducing transepidermal water loss. Attributed with antioxidant, anti-aging, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and enhanced SPF properties, tocopherol acetate is valued both as a dietary supplement and skincare active.
Caprylyl Glycol: Skin and hair conditioning agent that may be plant-derived or synthetic. Often used as part of a preservative blend in cosmetics.
Water: Primarily used as a solvent in cosmetics and personal care products in which it dissolves many of the ingredients that impart skin benefits, such as conditioning agents and cleansing agents. Water also forms emulsions in which the oil and water components of the product are combined to form creams and lotions.
Mannitol: A plant-derived or lab-made sugar that works in skin care to bind moisture, condition, and also help keep ingredients blended together. It works well with naturally-occurring substances in skin such as hyaluronic acid.
Acacia Senegal Gum: Herb that can have skin soothing properties, but is used primarily as a thickening agent.
Glyceryl Stearate: It acts as a lubricant on the skin’s surface, which gives the skin a soft and smooth appearance. It easily penetrates the skin and slows the loss of water from the skin by forming a barrier on the skin’s surface. It has been shown to protect skin from free-radical damage as well. Used to stabilize products, decrease water evaporation, make products freeze-resistant, and keep them from forming surface crusts. Reduces the greasiness of oils used in certain cosmetics.
Lecithin: Phospholipid found in egg yolks and plants. Widely used in cosmetics as an emollient and water-binding agent. Also has skin-restoring ability.
Tocopherol: Used as an antioxidant and skin conditioner.
Ascorbyl Palmitate: Stable and nonacidic form of vitamin C that is effective as an antioxidant. Particularly effective at reducing environmental damage.
Butylene Glycol: Commonly-used ingredient that has multiple functions in cosmetics, including as a texture enhancer. It’s similar to propylene glycol, but has a lighter texture.
Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis) Extract: Provides moisturizing benefits to support natural skin restoration.
Yeast (Faex) Extract: Comprised of a complex mixture of proteins, sugars, and amino acids, it acts as an excellent humectant and supports natural cell turnover in the skin.
Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract: Also known as wild carrot. It can have antioxidant properties, but applied topically it can cause sensitivity.
Retinyl Palmitate: A form of vitamin A that is used to promote natural cell turnover, elasticity, and suppleness and minimize the appearance of fine lines.
Citric Acid: An alpha hydroxy acid and astringent with antioxidant properties; used to help skin maintain its natural pH level or adjust the pH of a product.
Mica: Earth mineral included in products to give them sparkle and shine. The level and look of the shine mica provides depends on the color and how finely it’s milled. Mica's sheer, translucent and skin-hugging properties make it a popular ingredient in mineral powders. Mica powder reflects light from the face because of its glittering or shimmering properties, and can create the illusion of a smoother, softer and more radiant skin tone.
Iron Oxide: Natural oxides of iron (iron combined with oxygen); pigments are used to enhance colors in cosmetics.
Titanium Dioxide: An earth mineral used in sunscreens that is capable of blocking both UVA and UVB rays; also used as a pigment.
Calcium Sodium Borosilicate: Use calcium sodium borosilicate as a bulking agent to give products structure.
Propylene Glycol Dibenzoate: Skin-Conditioning Agent
Ammonium Glycyrrhizate: This nourishing natural ingredient helps to keep your skin in a good condition.  Its soothing and moisture-retaining properties can make your skin look firmer and smoother.
My Thoughts: I was able to get a sample size of Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick from Sephora Rewards Bazaar. It came in the color Le Rouge which is a blood red shade. The lipstick comes in a beautiful square gold casing. The casing is mirrored, which was nice for touch ups when needed. Yves Saint Laurent does offer different designs for the golden casing but for an additional cost. For me plain gold is just fine, especially since Yves Saint Laurent is not cheap!
Le Rouge texture is thin and silky texture with a satin finish, which makes it glide on the lips smoothly. Most times I get an even coat in just one swipe with intense pigment. However on some cases when Le Rouge was too silky it would come out sheer and I would have to apply another coat. No matter how many coats I use my lips always feels comfortable and lightweight. I was very surprised the thin texture was able to pack my lips with an intense hydration. I notice if I didn’t wear a lip liner Le Rouge would bleed, with lip liner it did stop a bit but not all the way. The casing mirror came in handy a lot because I found that Le Rouge I would get some on my teeth, it helped so I didn’t have to rummage through my endless bag for a mirror. Luckily the lipstick easy to wipe off if it gets on my teeth. Without eating or drinking the lipstick would last me 4 hours, than fades to a stain. With drinking I would have to touch up every now and than because it does transfer a lot. When it came to eating it turned into a stain. Total removal of Le Rouge does require a makeup remover.
Would I purchase Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick? No its a little too messy for me with all the bleeding and transferring especially for the price point.
Pros:
Beautiful square mirrored gold casing
Mirrored part be used for touch ups
Thin & silky texture
Satin finish
Smooth application
One swipe has intense pigment
Comfortable & lightweight
Hydrating
Without eating and drinking last 4 hours
Fades to stain
Cons:
Designed casing cost additional
Sometimes its too silky and the pigment becomes sheer
Does tend to bleed even with lip liner
Gets on teeth
Transfers a lot
Have to use makeup remover to get it completely off
Expensive

Test Drives: Tatcha, CTZN & Face Atelier
Tumblr media
It’s a new month and that means it’s time for some more Test Drives! Since it’s ridiculously hot out and the 4th of July, I decided to do a very simple makeup look that is ultra sheer so that my face doesn’t melt off before the fireworks begin! In my previous Test Drives post, I mentioned how there were a few items that I played with for that look which were pretty cool and deserved their own review article. And those are going to be items that I’m reviewing today. I’ll be covering Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas, CTZN’s Nudiversal Lip Duos and Face Atelier’s Face Finish setting spray. As usual, I’ll outline which items were gifted to me by the brand and which I purchased. Full details on my makeup look will be at the end of this post.
Tumblr media
Tatcha The Silk Canvas (purchased)
Okay so in a previous Test Drives post, I reviewed E.L.F. Cosmetics’ Poreless Putty Primer. And while I liked it, I wasn’t able to address whether it was a true dupe to Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas because I didn’t have that product to compare it to. But, I ended up going out and buying the travel size version of The Silk Canvas last month. Now that I’ve used both, I can honestly say that there is no comparison between The Silk Canvas and Poreless Putty Primer.
While E.L.F.’s dupe is a faithful attempt to capture the essence of what Tatcha’s product promises on and delivers, E.L.F.’s is definitely different and the experience between the two is noticeable. First off, E.L.F.’s primer applies wet/damp and then dries down. And if you’re heavy handed, it’s hard to properly buff it in as you’re left with weird beads of product all over your face. Plus while it is a faithful primer that offers a solid base for makeup applications, it did feel a little heavy as opposed to a traditional silicone primer like Smashbox or even E.L.F.’s other bottle-based primers.
In contrast, The Silk Canvas is really lightweight and breathable. Yes, a little goes a long way so you still shouldn’t be caking it on, but it buffs out easier. And most importantly, it doesn’t go on wet. It’s a true velvet-like balm. If I was going to recommend a true dupe to Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas, it would be Veil Cosmetics’ Automatte because of the texture, application and finish.
My only complaint about The SIlk Canvas is exactly the same as what I had with E.L.F.’s Poreless Putty Primer. Considering the extreme price difference between Tatcha and E.L.F., would it have killed the brand to include an applicator sponge?!
CTZN Nudiversal Lip Duo in Mexico City & Maldives (gifted)
Everyone knows that “nude” is subjective. So, often enough when a brand claims to make a nude lip, that “nude” can be pretty narrowly applied to one specific segment of the population—fair skinned people. But CTZN is turning that around with a ridiculous number of shades that actually are nude for a variety of skin tones. With 25 shades to choose from, there’s truly a nude out there for you within their collection. I ended up picking both Mexico City and Maldives. For today’s look, I wore Mexico City as a base and added a small swipe of Maldives to add a bit of warmer color. And as you can see from the pic, this is truly my nude.
I love that these nudes are dual ended. So, if you prefer a more matte effect, you can go with the lipstick. However, it’s a very hydrating matte—so no dry etched out lip lines! And then if you prefer more of a sheen, choose the lip gloss end. I opted for the matte side because I’m still stuck on mattes for the most part these days.
Another thing that I love is that, while it is an online brand, they took the time to photograph models of various skin tones wearing each of the 25 shades so you could clearly see how each shade will look on the tone closest to yours. And for the curious, the reason I ended up picking the two hues I did is because for a true nude effect, my skin tone fell between both of these shades and I couldn’t choose between the two.
Face Atelier Face Finish (gifted)
It’s summer and that means that you need to be properly prepping and finishing your face if you’re trying to wear a full look in hot weather. Face Finish from Face Atelier is meant to serve as a prep, setting, and refresh spray—giving you more bang for your buck. If you’re going to use it as a prep, spray it onto your face before you begin to apply makeup. And for setting or refreshing, simply spritz over your face after you finish your makeup or throughout the day so that your look lasts as long as you do.
I think this is a pretty great product with almost no scent (there is a bit of a cucumber smell in there so if you’re scent sensitive beware). My only complaint is that the spray isn’t a soft mist but rather a forceful stream. So, try not to spray it too close to your face otherwise you can end up wet rather than dewy as it dries down.
Final Thoughts
This is one of those Test Drives where I genuinely loved everything I tested. I definitely think the comparison between E.L.F.’s Poreless Putty Primer and Tatcha’s The Silk Canvas are greatly exaggerated—and I wanted to believe the hype. There’s just no comparison between the two, so I’m not sure who started that rumor but they need to stop spreading it. CTZN is an awesome brand for focusing on true inclusivity with a beauty niche that can be really complicated. And Face Atelier’s Face Finish is a great way to set your look. And the small size means you can easily take it with you when you’re out for the day or if you’re traveling.
