As much as I love Frida x Hilda or Johanna x Kaisa, I also don’t think it’s appreciated enough how little romance there is in Hilda. The show doesn’t focus on romance, and it’s not a one off plot device either. None of the characters visibly have a crush on Hilda and Hilda doesn’t visibly have a crush on any of the characters. The only romance we’ve seen is Tildy and Peter, I think Alfur and the one elf (her name is Adaline apparently) had a couple moments, and Hilda’s grandparents in season 3.
Romance isn’t necessarily a bad aspect of most tv shows, but it’s heavily relied on for plot relevance, but Hilda doesn’t need it to thrive. It’s just focusing on Hilda and her adventures with her friends and her mom. It’s refreshing honestly

With the 1st part of my Hilda spinoff comic Abby's finale coming up, we're headed back to the sea!
Making her debut in the upcoming chapter is Effie, a pompous draug with a flair for the dramatic. She's become one of my favorite side characters from this series 😅

Atop a crest with cavernous glens stands a solitary granite stone. She fills her lungs, raises her head to a barren land, and howls for eternity

Ok rewatching hilda season 2 so I’m not lost when I watch season 3, and I noticed something interesting.
In season 1, the end credits theme was adventurous and upbeat, but it was always the same regardless of episode.
In season 2, they changed it, with a new theme every episode, David’s light rock song in The eternal warriors, a song about how Hilda keeps messing up in The beast of cauldron island.
But there’s one episode where, instead of a new song, it’s back to the old one. The fifty year night.
The episode about a man time traveling to an event 50 years in the past, so desperate to return, so scared of changing how it went, and learning it’s better to leave things as they are.

i wanted to put out there how i like that the first 2 seasons of hilda are somewhat episodic, though they have hints to the next episode that when first watching through, can feel like throwaway bits.
untill you watch the next episode, of corse.
and i also like how in season 3 the still kind of keep that up, though the first episodes and the last ones are less episodic and more lore - heavy
