The tunnel of Hezekiah.
Water tunnel carved under the City of David in Jerusalem in ancient times. Its popular name is due to the most common hypothesis of its origin, namely, that it dates from the reign of Hezekiah.
The tunnel leads from the Gihon Spring to the Pool of Siloam. If indeed built under Hezekiah, it dates to a time when Jerusalem was preparing for an impending siege by the Assyrians, led by Sennacherib.
Since the Gihon Spring was already protected by a massive tower and was included in the city's defensive wall system, Jerusalem seems to have been supplied with enough water in case of siege even without this tunnel. The curving tunnel is 533 m., According to the Siloam inscription, the tunnel was excavated by two teams, one starting at each end of the tunnel and then meeting in the middle.

The Fallen (Open)
TW: Blood, mention of injuries
🌠~Permanent Open Start~🌠
~~~~~~~~~~~
The wind had been knocked straight out of Hezekiah upon landing flat on his back on some random street in Hell. He had never expected that the term 'Fallen' was so literal.
~~
"Hezekiah I can't have you raising any noise about this. I don't know how you found out but I can't have you speaking about this," Sera said as Hez stood at the very edge of Heaven, clutching the X shaped wound on his face, golden blood staining his hands.
"I'm not going to let this end quietly Sera. I swear it," Hez said looking at the Seraphim in front of him.
"I'm sorry it had to come to this Hezekiah. But you are now Fallen and I wash my hands of you," she said as she turned her back right when the Exorcist who had come along pushed Hez over the edge, sending him hurdling towards Hell.
~~
Hez landed with a sickening crunch as his left wing snapped on impact with the ground. It certainly didn't take long for Hez to realize he had drawn a very unwanted crowd of sinners eyeing him hungrily. He could barely get his feet under him, not to mention the extent of his injuries and blood loss was catching up to him quite quickly. He did manage to get away from the crowd and hiding in an alleyway nearby, trying to figure out what to do next, looking at where he landed, a small pool of distinctly golden blood on the ground as well as the very clear trail of blood following behind him. He slid down a nearby wall, trying and failing to staunch the flow of blood coming from his wound, however his head was incredibly hazy from the pain he was in as well. He was shocked he wasn't double dead. He had to try and take stock of his injuries.
Hez obviously knew about the wound on his face and his broken wing. The wetness in his hair told him he'd hit his head and he was bleeding there. He was pretty sure he had some broken ribs as well from the landing. His leg was fucked, his arm. Everything was fucked. He wasn't even sure what to do from this point but he knew he had to stay out of sight of the sinners beyond the alley. If there was one thing he knew, he knew that any soul worth their salt was going to try and make a deal with him. Owning an angel's soul, fallen or otherwise, well, that was a power anyone would want on their side.
He could hear footsteps heading his way but he couldn't get his vision to focus well enough to see who or what was headed towards him.
Hezekiah Shows his Treasures (2 Kings 20:12-19)
1 At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered. 2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and showed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not. — Isaiah 39:1-2 | American King James Version (KJVUS) The American King James Version is Produced by Stone Engelbrite. It is a simple word for modern word update from the King James English. Cross References: 2 Kings 18:15-16; 2 Kings 20:12; 2 Chronicles 32:25; 2 Chronicles 32:31; Job 31:25
ISAIAH‬ ‭39‬:‭2‬-‭8‬ ‭‬‬
”Hezekiah was delighted with the Babylonian envoys and showed them everything in his treasure-houses—the silver, the gold, the spices, and the aromatic oils. He also took them to see his armory and showed them everything in his royal treasuries! There was nothing in his palace or kingdom that Hezekiah did not show them. Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked him, “What did those…
Fallen Angel
Start for @thehazbins
Slow motion. That was how it felt for Hezekiah. From the second that his feet left the ground until he gained full awareness of exactly what was happening.
He was falling.
That was what he got for doubting the order of Heaven. It was unbecoming of even a Low Ranking Seraphim such as himself, even if he was well known in Heaven for being one of the only Human Souls to fly up the ranks to Lower Seraphim. But recent events caused him to question everything, therefore he became a threat. And his name and title suddenly meant nothing.
Falling. It was all he could do now, close his eyes and wait for the impact.
CRASH!
How he wasn't Double Dead, he had no idea. How did he know? The pain was the first indication. His face already stung, an X shaped wound stretched across his left eye, leaking golden blood onto the floor under him as he managed to flip himself onto his hands and knees. He knew he only had a couple minutes, tops before the shock of the impact wore off and he would be in too much pain to move. Then he really would be Double Dead. He quickly took stock of his injuries. His wing had snapped, just seeing the crooked angle it sat at was enough to tell him. He had lost a fair amount of his beautiful feathers as well. His arm was fucked, his leg. Everything. It was so fucked.
Hez quickly looked around, trying to figure out where he was when he saw a sign.
Cannibal Town.
While Hezekiah didn't like the idea of being around Cannibals, especially while he was 1. Actively Bleeding and 2. Very Vulnerable, he knew he couldn't stay where he was. Any wayward sinner would murder for a chance to coerce the young angel into a deal. Angelic Power was something any sinner or Overlord would want in their back pocket and Hez quite liked his soul the way it was. His own.
With a groan, he forced himself to his feet and he started walking. The pain was starting, the shock was wearing off. He needed to be quick.
Paying no mind to the cannibals looking at him, Hez pushed forward, his eyes locking on a singular target.
Rosie's Emporium
Nearly there. Nearly there. Hez had to drag himself up the stairs to the door when his legs finally gave out on him, landing him on the ground before he could so much as knock on the door.
How Leaders Should Pray
When the message from Rabshekeh reaches Hezekiah about Sennecarib's insulting taunt, we find the king's response incredibly specific. He seeks God. But he teaches us how leaders should do so.
Isaiah 37:1–4 (ESV) As soon as King Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes and covered himself with sackcloth and went into the house of the LORD. 2 And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the secretary, and the senior priests, covered with sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz. 3 They said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah, ‘This day is a day of distress, of rebuke, and of disgrace; children have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to bring them forth. 4 It may be that the LORD your God will hear the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to mock the living God, and will rebuke the words that the LORD your God has heard; therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’ ”
He sends a message to Isaiah the prophet. That's where you go when you need direction. To the Word of God through his prophets. Today we have the Bible for that very purpose - to give us help in our time of need.
He is also honest with the situation. Hezekiah does not put on a showy pretense of vain religion. He knows it's a bad time. He uses the analogy of a woman unable to deliver a child. What does that show you about Hezekiah's view of the situation? It shows you he knows there's hope but he does not have what it takes to bring it about. He knows there's a child to be born but he is unable to deliver it. That's prayer. We know there's an answer but we can do nothing to make it happen. We are totally dependent on God.
He defines the feeling he has about what's going on and he appeals to Isaiah to intervene. It's interesting because his speaking to Isaiah exposes our inward need to have a mediator in times of difficulty between us and the Lord.
Isaiah delivers the Lord's response:
Isaiah 37:6–7 (ESV) Isaiah said to them, “Say to your master, ‘Thus says the LORD: Do not be afraid because of the words that you have heard, with which the young men of the king of Assyria have reviled me. 7 Behold, I will put a spirit in him, so that he shall hear a rumor and return to his own land, and I will make him fall by the sword in his own land.’ ”
And so it comes to pass. Sennacherib does hear of an invasion from Cush and sets out to fight against them. But as he goes he sends more intimidating words to Hezekiah through his messengers. And I love what Hezekiah does then.
Isaiah 37:14 (ESV) Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.
He showed God what was written about him and against him. He laid it out. Good prayer does that. We don't hide, we are honest about our problems, both inwardly and externally. We don't have to pretend we are full of faith when we are not. We can show God what is bothering us, even if they are the lies of our enemies.
Then the final act of prayer from Hezekiah shows the kind of faith we need when we approach the Lord.
Isaiah 37:15–20 (ESV) And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD: 16 “O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, you are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth. 17 Incline your ear, O LORD, and hear; open your eyes, O LORD, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to mock the living God. 18 Truly, O LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations and their lands, 19 and have cast their gods into the fire. For they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone. Therefore they were destroyed. 20 So now, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone are the LORD.”
He acknowledges that God is over the nations and lands. He knows their gods are nothing but the work of men's hands. He prays for deliverance from the oppression of his enemy and he prays for this deliverance with the ultimate aim that "all the kingdoms of earth may know HE alone is the LORD!"
That's how leaders should pray. They need to center the purpose of their request on the glorification of God among the people. God help us, so that the world may know there is no help outside of you.
