Nagisa was your first real friend.
Actually, he was the first person to actually talk to you at all when you came to Iwatobi. Being a foreigner it made a lot of the students steer away from you, but Nagisa never made you feel that way. His bright smile was the first thing that greeted you everyday at the school’s gate. It was something that you always looked forward to.
He of course introduced you to the rest of the swim team and you all became good friends, but Nagisa spent the most time with you by far. He was always at your house, pulling you to try new cafes and places to eat and just have fun. It was part of his energetic nature, wanting to go and do something, try something, but he wanted to do it with you the most out of everyone in the group. You never really gave it much thought through the years. You were close friends, you just thought it was him wanting to spend as much time with you before you went back to America...but now, you're rethinking everything he’s done and said to you over the past three and a half years.
Your hands shook, making the picture that illuminated on your phone screen shake back in response. You were simply letting the group know when you would be leaving. You were going back to America for University and while the rest of the group was excited for you and your new endeavor, some were making plans to hang out with you one last time for a while, Nagisa didn’t say anything in the group chat, the only indication that he was even seeing the messages was his profile picture showing up underneath the messages.
It wasn’t long until your phone notified you off the hook, one message after another. You thought the group chat was blowing up, but no...it was Nagisa messaging you privately with words you’ve never heard him speak to you, nor anyone before in your whole time of knowing him.
Nagi<3: You think you can leave me?
Nagi<3: You’re supposed to stay with me! How could you leave like that? After all we’ve been through? All those times I was there for you??
Nagi<3: I won’t let you leave (Y/N), you belong here with me...I’ll make sure you won’t leave the city let alone the country!
Nagi<3: I love you (Y/N)! Don’t you get it? We’re supposed to be together damnit! Why can’t you see that? You can’t be that dense.
Nagi<3: Is it because you like Haru? Makoto? Rei? Are you playing hard to get because you’re a slut? Flirting with them and ignoring me?? Is my attention not fucking enough for you? Have to go whore yourself to the rest of the group?!
Nagi<3: ...I’m just angry, you’re not a whore (Y/N), I really do love you! Please stay here, we’ll get a place for ourselves, I’ll take care of you (Y/N), have I ever let you down? Fucking say something! Please!
Nagi<3: I need you (Y/N), you’re my whole world and I won’t let you slip away...
It was too much for you to handle. With shaking hands and tears streaming down your face, you quickly blocked Nagisa from all social media along with his contact in your phone. He scared you with his words...he seemed obsessed, delusional even. You knew he cared for you, but you only thought it was as a friend. The way he dropped the word, ‘love’ made you shudder.
Saying he loves you and then going around and accusing you of being a whore and going around to the other guys in the group made you unsettled. Taking a few deep breaths, you sat your phone down making a mental note to not look at it for the rest of the night. Your eyes scanned the room, boxes still scattered around; some filled, taped and labeled and others empty or even waiting for you to build the boxes. Deciding that the best thing to do was get the packing done as soon as possible even if you were still a bit apprehensive. The lingering words that Nagisa sent you still swirled in your head as you went about packing everything with a new found mission to get out as soon as you could.
--
With a satisfied huff, you stacked one of the final boxes in the corner of the almost empty room. You felt a wave of relief wash over you as you wiped your brow and turned toward your phone that was on the nightstand. It was face down, but you did hear it go off, the vibrations echoed in the room, but you ignored it all together. It’s been hours since then and with the majority of everything packed and ready to go, it was time for bed. You had plans with Gou tomorrow to have brunch and just talk, a final hangout before you left.
After doing your nightly routine, you were settled in bed, the cool sheets feeling great on your heated skin from the manual labor you did. Your gaze settled on the phone still in place on your nightstand face down. You felt silly, you blocked Nagisa it should be alright, the notifications were probably Gou just double checking on your guys’ plans for tomorrow. With a final sigh, you quickly grabbed the device and turned it back around and pressed the side making it light up. Scrunching your eyes at the sudden intrusion of light on your poor retinas, you turned the brightness down so your eyes could adjust.
Going through notifications from various apps and social media, you quickly replied to Gou who did message you to confirm your plans for tomorrow. With a final kissy emoji at the end of your sentence and a tap of your finger, the message was sent to her. As you continued to go through what you missed the past few hours, your eyes stopped at a notification for a text message from an unknown number.
You could feel the anxiety bubble inside of you as you stared at the number, you didn’t want to even look at the message itself, but something told you to. With a shaky breath, you tapped on it and waited as your phone loaded the message.
You’ll regret that (Y/N), I’m coming for you…
That’s all it said. A fucking cryptic message calling you out by name. A threat that hung over your head and one that made the breath catch in your throat. A message not even ten words long made fear build up inside of you. Now, every creak and sound could be a potential threat at least that’s how your mind perceived it.
You knew this was Nagisa telling you this, but he was Nagisa, he...he wouldn’t do anything terrible...would he? Words are one thing, but the truth came out with someone's actions. Your eyes shifted toward your door, in the dark everything was more intimidating and menacing. Now fully sat up in your bed, you pulled your knees to your chest as much as you could and just stared at the door that was draped in the shadowy curtain of darkness. Your mind kept playing out a scenario of Nagisa coming through your bedroom door, a crazed look in his eyes and a weapon to hurt you with…the very thought made you shudder.
Between the packing and the interaction with Nagisa, you were exhausted. As you continued to stare at the door, you could feel your poor eyes start to droop, the exhaustion finally catching up with you as you tried your hardest to stay awake, wanting to be on alert if anything did happen, but all of that went out the window as you felt yourself slip into a restless slumber.
A softness touched your face making you shift in your sleep, but something else made you alert, a soft voice filtered through your room. You were home alone, your parents were away on a business trip, it was just you there should be nobody else talking in your house. Your eyes snapped open, trying to adjust to the darkness that surrounded you.
“You’re cute when you’re asleep.” A hand cupped your cheek making your whole body stiff at the contact. Flailing about, you pushed yourself up against your headboard as the figure only laughed and walked toward your door where the light switch was. You already knew who it was based on the voice and your mind instantly went to your death.
With a simple flip of the switch, light flooded your vision and there stood Nagisa, the same crazed look in his eyes that you pictured earlier, but no weapon, nothing to connect you to your demise. His footsteps seemed heavier as he stalked his way toward you like an animal about to attack its prey. “I was pissed off at you (Y/N), is that why you blocked me? Did I scare you?” he came to stop in front of the foot of your bed, his gaze lingering on you. You could feel your breathing become labored the longer he stared at you.
“What’re you doing here?” Ignoring his question, you sent him a glare, back still against the headboard not moving an inch.
“Coming to see you (Y/N)-chan.” Sending you a wink, he laughed at your visible shudder. “You’re scaring me Nagi.” His gaze was fixated on you so intensely, it sent another shiver down your spine.
He didn’t answer you. Instead, he left his spot by the foot of the bed and made his way toward you, his steps becoming heavier with each step. Your eyes glanced to the bedroom door and without a second thought, you bolted from your bed throwing the covers at Nagisa hoping to slow him down a bit. Your feet pounded against your wooden floor, your hands reaching out to grasp the doorknob, the thought of freedom just inches away.
Thud
The wind was knocked out of you, your body colliding with the hard floor, delicate skin skidding to a stop as a weight settled on top of you, not only pinning you in place, but making it hard to breathe due to the weight being directly on your chest. “Always playing hard to get, do you do this to the other guys (Y/N), like the slut you are?” His words were nonsense and not giving them a second thought, you started to thrash on the floor, your freedom was your only thought. You didn’t care about the bruises that would litter your body after this. He just laughed at your attempt to break free, even though he was the smallest of the group, he was just as strong as the others. With no luck, there was one thing left.
“Help! Somebody call the cops, I need help!” You yelled this at the top of your lungs, sucking in as much air as you could from your somewhat crushed chest. Before you could yell again, a hand was wrapped around your throat cutting off what little air you were getting.
“Shut up! Jesus, first ignoring me, blocking me, making me go to these fucking lengths to get your fucking attention!” Giving your throat a bit of a squeeze, nothing but a wheeze escaped you, your hands flying up to try and pry his constricting hands off so you could get air to your needy lungs.
“If you just stayed here, we would’ve been fine (Y/N), but you just had to go back to America! Is nothing good enough for you!? Why’s that (Y/N)? Answer me!” All you could do was continue to gasp and hit his hands. You could feel tears spring to your eyes, sliding down your face as Nagisa continued to choke the life out of you.
You could see black spots starting to fill your vision. “I fucking love you (Y/N)!”, by some miracle, he let up his hold on your throat. You greedily started to suck in as much air as your burning lungs could, but he still had a hold of your throat and the squeeze he sent was evident of this. “You’ll see how much I truly love you, don’t worry, we’ll be happy at my house. Just me and you and nobody to interrupt us.” Leaning down, he placed a tender kiss to your forehead before finally letting your poor, bruised throat go. Still settled on your chest, he peered down at you.
“They’ll look for me! You can’t keep me locked away forever! This isn’t how love works Nagisa! You need help!” His smile slipped, but he regained it quickly before leaning down and capturing your lips in a kiss, holding your face in his hands so you couldn’t move away. Not granting him access, he bit your lip enough to draw blood making you gasp at the pain giving him enough time to slip his tongue in and explore his new territory. His tongue glided over your teeth, the roof of your mouth, even sliding along your own tongue. It wasn’t romantic in the slightest, it was dominating, possessive and it made you feel vile inside. When he decided to break the kiss, he was flushed, breath labored with a love sick smile plastered on his face.
“They won’t be looking for you silly.” Those words made you freeze in terror. Images of horrific deaths flashed through your mind. Your mind raced wondering what he would do to dispose of you. What twisted fantasy was he going to fulfill? “You’ll be right there with them, alongside everyone we know as happy as can be.” Licking his lips, his gaze settled on your swollen lips, but flickered back up to your eyes to finish his thought.
He wasn’t making sense, his words were nonsense to you. He didn’t give an explanation to his words, he just traced your lips with his thumb, his focus solely on the place his mouth was moments before. It was as if he was in a trance, like he was playing out his own fantasy in his mind.
“You’re going to tell everyone that you changed your mind about going back to America.” His thumb stopped tracing your lip, dragging down your bottom lip, your chin and straight down your now bruised neck. Your breath hitched as he applied the smallest amount of pressure to his thumb, pressing into it. His eyes bore into yours as he continued to rattle off his plan.
“Then, you’ll move in with me, the house I told you about on the edge of town, big enough to raise a family in.” His hands came back up to cup your cheeks, your mind reeling at his sentence. Children? Just something else tied up with the delusion he was putting forth. Fingers started to caress your skin, the contact making you flinch.
“It’ll be perfect (Y/N), us together in our house, still surrounded by friends and family, all you have to do is be good and follow what I say...or we can do this the hard way,” One hand left your cheek and traveled back down to your throat, fingers drumming against the abused skin.
“What’s the hard way…” Your voice was hoarse and held a twinge of fear that much was obvious. Nagisa smirked at the tone of your voice. He knew he had the upper hand here and one way or another, he was going to have you. You had an inkling of what the hard way was, but you wanted to hear it from him.
No words were said as the hand that was drumming against the bruised skin of your throat moved upwards, brushing past your cheeks making a shudder run up your spine before his fingers slid into your locks only to have him grip your tresses and yank your head to the side. A squeal of pain flew from your mouth as his laughter rang through the silent room.
Leaning down, hands still having a death grip on your hair, he leaned down to your ear, his hot breath fanning it. Ignoring the burning sensation of your poor scalp from how hard he was gripping and pulling your hair, he started to speak.
“The hard way is when I’m not so nice,” He stopped for a moment and nibbled on your earlobe making that vile feeling crawl back up. “I’ll take you, but you get nothing of yours, just the clothes on your pretty body, I’ll take you back to our house and lock you up there, probably have to chain you up so you don’t escape. Nobody will come over, you won’t be able to contact your friends, your family, nobody ever again. It’ll just be me and you. Everyone will mourn you and never know what happened to little ole (Y/N).”
Either way, you would still have to go with him, but the bleakest silver lining was you could still see your family and friends, you’d just have to put up a front. That still sounded better than being chained in a house while everything mourned and looked for you with no resolve.
His chuckle broke your thoughts. “I’ll give you a minute to think about your options, but I already know which you’ll be picking.” With that, he started to place kisses on your cheek, your chin, and down the column of your neck, the pressure on the bruises making you wince as his lips grazed over the skin.
He was right though, there was only one logical option, the easy way… as much as you hated to admit it.
“Nagisa...I choose th- ahhhh!” He gave a quick bite to your collar bone before you could finish your sentence.
Feeling a wet sensation on the infected area, you guessed he was licking at the spot. “The easy way. Of course you do (Y/N)-chan, I knew you’d pick that.” Pushing himself back, he stared down at you, a smile gracing his face, nothing malicious and crazed about it, just a genuine smile, the one you’ve seen countless times with friends, swim competitions, just the smile Nagisa was known for.
Leaning down, he placed a quick kiss on your lips, a nice chaste kiss that in another situation you would’ve loved, but in this instance it didn’t feel right, but starting now you had to put up a front, an act to please him, to ensure you had the chance to see your friends and family even though you’d still be kidnapped by your once friend.
“Now, let’s get some of your things to take over to our new house, right sweetie?” With a shaky breath, you nodded, trying to have a smile on your face as Nagisa finally got up from on top of your chest, holding out a hand to help you up, grabbing it, he hauled you up and pulled you in close to him, holding you to his chest.
Holding you in his grasp, he had his arms wrapped around you squeezing you a bit, feeling your body and taking comfort in the fact that you were finally his. “I love you (Y/N)-chan, I know you won’t say it back yet, but you will...I know you will.” Pulling back from the hug, he smiled at you once more.
“Let’s get your stuff, whatever you want to bring my cute (Y/N)-chan.” You didn’t say anything as you started to get your stuff ready, packing as much as you could in what bags you had. Nagisa was doing the same, the smile still plastered on his face as he even hummed while doing so. With everything happening so quickly, you haven’t been able to wrap your mind around what was happening, the situation. You could feel yourself crumple, the clothing dropping from your hands and knees buckling as you slumped down onto the floor.
You knew there was no way out. The tears started to pour, something you hoped to never show in front of your captor, but your resolve was crumbling fast. A loud sob escaped you as you curled onto the cold, wooden floor. The hands that started to rub your back made you flinch on contact. The once soothing notion only made you curl more into yourself wishing to disappear into a floor, wishing it would just open up and swallow you whole.
Nagisa's hands continued to caress your tensed self, as small ‘shhh’s’ came from him in hopes of comforting you. “I hate when my (Y/N)-chan cries.” Your position didn’t last long before you were pulled up, limbs heavy and numb.
Nagisa pulled you into your bed, on top of clothing that you were in the middle of packing before. With tears still streaming down your face, you were pulled flushed against his chest, his arms wrapped around your middle as he nuzzled into the curve of your neck, kissing the still tender skin around the area. Placing a few more kisses onto you, he pulled back and leaned back against your headboard bringing you with him. Kissing the top of your head, he settled his chin on the top of your head. “You’ll feel better once we get you settled, don’t worry (Y/N)-chan, I’ll take care of you.”
True to his word, Nagisa did take care of you. Nobody really thought too much about you and Nagisa getting together, the guys noticed the looks he’d give you during school and hangouts and Gou was just absolutely happy that you had a boyfriend. Your parents were happy that you ‘changed your mind’ about going back to America and Nagisa…
Nagisa put up the perfect facade.
He was true to his word, letting you still see your friends and family, but he was always watching and you knew this after trying to escape a few times, throat clenching at the memories of your punishments for trying to run away. If you obeyed, you were showered with praise, gifts and affection from Nagisa. He still let you go to school, work, as if everything was picture perfect.
“(Y/N)-chan, my sweet little (Y/N)-chan.” Nagisa’s hands caressed your sides as you were trying to cook dinner in the kitchen. Some of your friends were over and you were trying to finish the main course, but he had other plans. You could feel his hand slip over the curve of your bottom, giving your backside a firm squeeze as he placed lazy kisses on the back of your neck, sweeping your hair to the side.
“I’m trying to finish dinner Nagi, please we can do this after.” You tried to shake him off as you turned the silvers of meats over that were frying in the pan to cook on the other side. Chuckling, he didn’t even bat an eye at you trying to push him away, his hands coming back, both circling around you to grope at your chest and grinding himself into your backside. The force made you lean into the stove more, the heat emitting from the device hitting some exposed skin but not enough to seriously burn you yet.
“That’s cute that you think you have a choice (Y/N)-chan,” Groping your chest again he laughed at your gasp and even thrusted up into your bottom, your hands gripping the sides of the counter on either side of the oven. “Keep cooking while I have my fun and remember to keep it down we have guests in the next room and if you don’t,” He leaned down to your ear before whispering, “I’ll have to punish you later.” Gulping, you nodded mutely at his words.
Doing as you were told, you continued to cook the dinner as Nagisa continued to do what he pleased with you just as he does every single day.
That’s how your new life has been and unfortunately how it always will be.

Danganronpa request can a reader who is really kind and a sweetheart adopt the warriors of hope and helpem to forget they traumas and also can the reader beat the hell up the warriors of hope parents after everything they done to those innocents children's please
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, my darling! I love the WoH so much- I adopted them too, they're your adoptive siblings now so you all gotta get along ok-
These are probably gonna spiral into parenting headcanons because I cannot help myself- just let these kiddos have a happy home life man- :(
TW for mentions of abuse. It's nothing explicit, but it can be upsetting to some. Please be cautious.
Anyways, let's get started!
- 🌸🍭mod mikan🍭🌸
S/O adopting the WoH!
Tumblr media
Now, we all know these kiddos had a bad time.
They were all abused in different ways, neglected, put down to the lowest point they could be.
Junko was like a light at the end of the tunnel for them, a savior - someone who cared, someone who they could trust, someone who loved them. But it was all lies.
She didn't care.
They couldn't trust her.
She didn't love them.
But then, you came around. At first, they thought you were like every other demon; evil, cold and uncaring.
And yet, there was this warmth radiating off of you... Almost like another light they could chase to get to true joy.
After Komaru and Toko defeated each of them, they felt lost. What were they supposed to do now that their empire has failed? Were the adults going to punish them, by abusing and taking advantage of them even further?
The group wandered the streets of Towa City, alone, hiding from every adult they could see and fending for themselves.
However, they stumbled upon you and Komaru. You two have been actively looking for them after finding out they survived.
But the reason why you were looking for them, was pretty unexpected.
You wanted to take them in as your own. They were just kids after all, no matter how much they tried to make themselves seem bigger. You wanted to help them, teach them that not everyone will hurt them, because they deserve to be loved like any other child does.
And so, they went with you. Very reluctantly mind you, but they didn't have much of a choice.
And as time went on, they opened up to you, one by one. And soon, you guys became like a happy family.
Somewhat dysfunctional, but still happy family.
Ok so, origin story's out of the way, now let's get in a bit deeper-
Parenting the Warriors is pretty hard- they each have something about themselves that you need to keep in mind.
And besides, taking care of 5 children wouldn't be easy even if they weren't traumatized-
You have to be patient, warm and kind to them, and to you that's no problem!
I would imagine Masaru would be the first to let his guard down around you, because he could tell that you weren't a bad person from the start.
He would start to admire you greatly, seeing you as the only cool adult around!!
He's always trying to impress you or get your attention because of that. And you always give him praise, telling him he's the most awesome kiddo ever!!
He always gets a bit bashful when you do, scratching his head as an "awhh, shucks!", escaping his lips.
He's very fond of you! He wants to do the things you do, like trying out your hobbies or imitating your mannerisms. He just wants to be as cool as you are.
While it is cute, you have to teach him that he's only the best when he's himself!
Kotoko was probably the second to open up. The first thing she noticed is that you never, ever used her trigger word in a sentence, not even on accident. You always used words like "soft", "tender" or "mallow", maybe even "delicate".
Not me looking up synonyms on thesaurus.com rn shHDHS
Like Masaru, her initial gut reaction always told her you were a good person, but the walls she had built up just couldn't let you in right away.
And when she does get comfortable, she becomes super clingy. She's almost as fond of you as Masaru is, honestly-
She always goes to you for any sort of help. She feels like you're the only person she can trust 100%, whether it be with her feelings or some other problem.
You're like- the only person who she's super nice to all the time. She used to be like that with Monaca, until you took them in.
Actually, speaking of that, they completely stopped literally worshipping Monaca's every move once you entered their lives.
Now, next up is Jataro. He initially thought you hated his every move, and that you only took him in because of pity.
But, you were proving him wrong every day. Going out of your way to talk to him, being so incredibly kind that it made his heart hurt.
You always help him out with his art! He loves when you sit down and paint, sculpt or draw with him, even if you're not artistic yourself. He feels like he's wanted, and all of that self-hatred almost completely washes away.
The biggest moment was when you finally convinced him to take off his mask. And when he did, you could tell he was way happier.
You two burned the mask together, leaving that part of his life behind you and turning over a new leaf.
And because of your influence, the rest of the kids are way nicer to him as well now!
Nagisa was the fourth one to take his guard down.
He saw how much Masaru, Kotoko and Jataro trusted you, and after observing you further, he began to see why.
He was always very distant from you, and you respected that. So, you were pleasantly surprised when he suddenly started going out of his way to help you, talk to you or spend time with you. However, you never questioned it, which made him relieved.
It's like you two silently agreed that you were cool with eachother.
He's very mature for his age, so he's the first one to try and help you with regular day-to-day tasks, even without you asking for said help.
Mans over here about to start doing your taxes HDHDH-
You always tell him to chill out, but he insists. He knows how much trouble he and his adoptive siblings are making for you, and it's his own way of thanking you.
Now, Monaca's a little interesting.
At first she was only pretending to care about you, like she did with the rest of the Warriors, but after a while she genuinely grew to love both you and her siblings.
She doesn't like the fact she cares one bit, but she can't help it.
She still has very manipulative tendencies, but you always see through them and her lies. You call her out on it, but never berate her.
She's very kiss ass-y, I guess?? Always complimenting you for the smallest reasons and calling you sweet nicknames.
She sometimes just wants to make you mess up to try and get herself to stop caring-
Like whenever a problem comes up, she always goes, "S/O can fix it!😌🙏 Our (affectionate parental term) dearest can do anything!🥰💞" and the rest of the kids are like "yah!!💖💕" because they love and support you while you're just there like🧍
Because no you can't rebuild the economy do you look like bob the fucking builder-
AnywaY their parents are already dead, so you guys beat up H*ji instead. :)
Ah, family bonding time. 💕
Tumblr media
And done!! I love these little spawns of satan so much you guys don't even know- this was literally so fun to write that I think I got carried away a bit hshGhd- I hope this is ok!
Make sure to wash your hands, stay hydrated, take any meds you may need to and stay safe! You were so brave, have a lollipop! 🍭

Legend of Korra X Male Reader
Hey guys! I’m loving all the likes you’re giving. I want to hear more of your questions and comments. Also I would really appreciate it if you would tag me and give me credit when you reblog my work. Thanks
(All credit for Legend of Korra goes to Nickelodeon and it’s creators ❤️)
Season 1, ep 5, p2
Kazan and Meelo yawned sleepily, full from dinner. "That was really good, (Y/N)." Pema complimented, rubbing her belly happily. "Glad you liked it Auntie." You then turned to your Aunt Rene who was sulking in the corner with a smug grin. "So, Auntie, thoughts?" you teased, making her start. "Listen little boy! Don't you dare give me attitude just because you're a better cook than me!" Everyone laughed at the banter between you two. "It's late, and the children are sleepy, why don't you guys sleep here for the night? Nagisa can sleep with Jinora and Ikki, and Kazan can bunk with Meelo." Pema suggested.
"Yay! Sleepover!" cheered Ikki and Nagisa much to Jinora's annoyance. "Here, I'll help but the boys to sleep, Uncle."He smiled appreciatively at you, grabbing Meelo while you carried Kazan. "You did good tonight, nephew." Tenzin said, leading the way to the boys' room. "You heard from the radio?" you tilted your head, adjusting your grip on the young firebender. "No, I saw from the corner. You really are your parent's son."
You stared at his back in shock before smiling. "Heh, thanks Uncle."
*That night*
You inhaled the fresh air as you and Nevermore walked to the arena to get ready. But stop seeing Mako and Korra each facing different ways, and leaned against a pole, out of their sight line. "What kind of game are you playing?" asked the Firebender. "Um, pro-bending? We have a quarter final match." Korra stated like it was the most obvious thing. "No, I mean with Bolin. You got him all in a tizzy, and I know you're only using him to get back at me." Mako accused. 'Ooh bad move, Mako.'
"I am not. We're just having fun. What do you care, anyway?" Korra defended. "I'm looking out for my little brother. I don't want to see his heart get broken." 'That is such bull.' you laughed silently. Korra knew it was too, "Wait a second. You're not worried about him; you're jealous," Korra was smirking and you were too. "You do have feelings for me." Mako didn't miss a beat. "What? Jealous? Don't be ridiculous."
"Admit it, you like me." Korra didn't realize she was playing with fire, quite literally. "No, I'm with Asami." "Yeah, but when you're with her, you're thinking about me, aren't you?" The Avatar sounded so smug right now, and you were silently rooting for her. "Get over yourself." Mako snapped. "I'm just being honest!" "You're crazy!" Mako denied. "You're a liar!" cried Korra.
That was when you decided to step in. You splashed the two with water you kept in your pocket, and sent your teammates a raised eye brow. "If you two hot heads are done, we do have a match to go to." You then walked away, your pony tail swinging behind you. You stopped the two from entering the room and to keep Bolin from getting him involved.
"Listen you two, don't bring this energy around Bolin. And while you are out on that ring, keep your personal feelings out of it. We've come too far for you two to mess it up. Am I clear?" The younger teens looked at each other and sighed, when Nevermore snapped her jaws for good measure. "Yes, sir." "Good, I'll be here when the match is over." You walked in and over to the railing, waiting for the match to start.
*15 minutes later*
"Eight teams have been eliminated, and eight advance into the quarter finals, which get underway tonight. The rookies are about to take on the former and longest running champs--the Boar-Q-Pines. Youth clashes with experience in a battle for the ages or rather of the ages. Korra dodges and--ooh slams right into her teammate! Down goes Mako, and Bolin and Korra." You face palm and growled as the second announcer said, "Round One goes to the Boar-Q-Pines."
Your (e/c) eyes narrow, noting Mako was saying something to Korra in a very aggressive way. Poor Bolin looked so confused. The waterbender part of you wanted to switch out with Korra, but the airbender part of you, reminded your that this was how Korra and Mako were going to make up. Nevermore nuzzled your cheek making you chuckle and rub her head. "Thanks, girl."
"The Ferrets looking to mount some offense here in round 2. Bolin lets fly a flurry of attacks. He's a one man bending battalion." "Yes! Way to go, Bolin!" You cheered for the Earthbender. "The Ferrets having a tough time finding their rhythm tonight. But thanks to Bolin, they narrowly notch round two."
Round 3 started and at this point the crowd noticed their was something wrong as well. "Not sure, what's eatin' them, but this is not the same team that took out the Rabbaroos." You winced in sympathy as the Avatar took Earth disk to the stomach. "Round 3 is a tie. We go to a tie breaker to decide the match." A referee tossed a blue and red coin into the air, and caught it, covering it up.
He moved his hand to reveal the red side. "The Fire Ferrets win the coin toss. Which element do you choose?" Immediately the three tried to decide who would go to fight, until Bolin stepped up with the older Earthbender. "Looks like the Earthbenders will collide in the tie breaker face off. Bolin goes in for the grapple, Chang reverses." You grit your teeth as Bolin was flung into the air but cheered when he fired from mid air.
"Bolin strikes from mid air, knocking Chang to the edge of the circle, and another strike from Bolin, knocking Chang into the drink!" "The Future Industries Fire Ferrets win their quarter final match!" You, Mako, and Korra sighed in relief as the announce continued talking. "Ooh, close one folks, youth trumps experience tonight."
You met the trio at the edge and grinned at Bolin. "Good job, Bo! You were awesome out there!" You watched as Korra and Mako went their separate ways. You sighed, and walked over to Mako and whispered in his ear, "You better get your act right, Mako. You maybe my best friend, but I won't hesitate to kick your ass." He looked at you with wide eyes, knowing you were dead serious. "Hey, (Y/N), come with me! I need your help!" Bolin dragged you out the room, making you laugh.
*Time skip*
You and Bolin walked up to where Korra could be hiding and you stopped seeing Korra and Mako kissing. 'Are they kidding me?!' "Wait, Bo, don't--"
You were too late, as he stopped seeing the scene in front of you. You hid half your face in your hand, Nevermore trying to hide her head in your hair. It was silent until Bolin started crying and ran away. "Wait, Bolin, this isn't what you think!" He turned to Korra with a glare on his face. "Great! Look what you did." "You're blaming me?" demanded Korra.
"You kissed me!" "You kissed me back!" Both gasped being splashed with freezing cold water, and turned to you. Nevermore's teeth were drawn back into a snarl, and you had a dangerous look on your face. "It doesn't matter. You are both at fault! Now what matters is how the hell you are going to fix it." You and Nevermore growled as Mako groaned and ran after his brother. You turned to the city view and didn't even look at the Water Tribe girl.
"Korra, I know you've been isolated all your life, and you probably thought you would get your happily ever after with Mako. But there's so many fish in the sea for you to explore with. Don't settle for the small fry." "Well played, Korra." she said, hugging herself. "Live and learn, Korra." you sighed, "Live and learn."
*The next morning.*
You followed Mako into the restaurant.  "Morning, Narook. Is my brother here?" The man behind the counter gestured behind you guys, and Mako waved in thanks. "Thanks." He walked over to Bolin and shook his shoulder. "Come on, wake up. I'm taking you home, bro." That cause Bolin to sniff and look up sadly.
"Don't call me that. You're not my brother!" He drunkenly slapped Mako's hands away from him. "You're a brother-betrayer." He sobbed into his arms. "The only ones I can trust: are Pabu and (Y/N)! They love me!" "You're a mess, and we've got the biggest of our lives tonight. Let's go." Mako tried grabbing Bolin who screamed at him. "No! I'm not going anywhere with you traitor!" You sighed, pushing Mako and grinning at Bolin.
"Come on, Bo. I need my favorite Earthbender to fight with me tonight!" He finally got up with his arm slung over your shoulder. "Only you Bolin, can drunk off Water Tribe Noodles." You laugh gently. "I told you dating a teammate was a bad idea." Mako sighed. "You're a bad idea!" You laugh at their antics, even if you were pissed at Mako.
*That night*
You finished braiding your hair so it hung down your back, and out of your face, as Korra walked into the room. She looked at Bolin slouching on a bench, and noticed you over at the mirror. You were lost in thought, but it was clear something was bothering you. You suddenly snapped out of it and stood up, putting your helmet on. "Let's go guys. And leave your personal feelings here."
"You can't find a team more evenly matched. In age, size, and strength than the Fire Ferrets and the Buzzard Wasps. Believe me, I looked." he joked. "This should be a pulse-pounding semi-final, folks." The bell rang and the Buzzards fought first. "The Buzzard-Wasps open with a flawlessly executed combo. 2 of the Ferrets take an early visit to Zone 2, and Mako's knocked all the way back into Zone 3! The Ferrets have been struggling to stay alive since the opening bell. It seems Bolin and Mako are out of sync tonight. (Y/N) taking the brunt of the impact from the front lines."
The crowd groaned with Bolin as he was hit in the gut, hard. "Ooh, that has got to sting." You heard retching and groaned, knowing it was Bolin. "And Bolin looses his noodles, literally." All the players seem to have froze with that disgusting scene. "Which reminds me, this match is brought to you by our sponsor, Flamey-O-Instant Noodles. 'Noodlest- Noodles in the United Republic.' " Soon Bolin was knocked back into Zone 3 with Mako, leaving you to get defend from Zone 1.
You were suddenly knocked into Zone 3 by an Earth disk, while avoiding a flame burst. "The Buzzard Wasps fly deeper into Ferret Territory. And Mako plunges into the pool. Can the Fire Ferrets hold on?" You and Bolin looked at each other and continued to fight with all you got. "The Ferrets are backed to the edge now, and are saved by the bell! They had better pull themselves together, folks, for round two. Otherwise they can kiss their finals goodbye. "
"Round 2!"  You used water in a arch to knock two of the Buzzards back into Zone 2. "Oh, what a strong start from (Y/N)!" Mako groaned being knocked into Zone 2, and sent fire towards them, hitting Bolin in the process. He cried out, and turned onto his back to glare at Mako. "Hey, watch it!" He gasped being knocked into the water, from his distraction. "The Wasps take advantage of Mako's unforced error, and move forward."
You and Mako spun your elements together and knocked the opposing  Water and Earth benders out and into the drink giving the round to you guys. Round 3 came and you looked between the boys. "Look, we've been working for a long time for this. Get your heads in the game guys. Please." You begged slightly; they knew what this tournament meant to you. "Let's get this over with." Mako sighed.
When the match started, Mako was already in the drink, and Bolin's shoulder was messed up,and then he was in the drink. "The Ferret's dream of making it to the finals rests on Councilman (Y/N)'s shoulders." You smirked to yourself, used your waterbending to get the team into a line of three, and knocked them down like dominoes. "It's the big kaboosh! What a knockout!"
The crowd went wild and you could hear Mako and Bolin cheering for you.  "It didn't seem possible folks, but the Fire Ferrets are headed to the finals." You laughed, waving to the crowd, before walking away. You took your helmet off and groaned when Korra gave you a big hug. "Korra! Korra! I need my....lungs...to breathe." "Oh! Sorry!" she sheepishly let you go. "Sometimes, I forget about my own strength." You sent her a lopsided smile, "It's okay, Korra." Bolin and Mako walked up to you.
"That was pretty much the coolest thing I've ever seen." "Thanks for not giving up on us; we never would've made this far without your level head. We owe you big time." You rolled your eyes, walking past them, taking your helmet off. The three looked at each other, uncertain. "(Y/N)--" "Look, I know things are confusing between the three of you, but this team means everything to me, and the last thing I need is for some petty love triangle is to mess it up."
Your sudden attitude caught the other's off guard; you were usually so carefree and cool. You got ready to leave the room when your ex walked in, making a scene. "Ooh, ooh, you boys smell something in here?" Tahno pinched his nose before smirking. "Oh, wait I know what that is. Yeah, it's the scent of losers." "I hope we see you in the finals. Then we'll see who the real losers really are." Korra said back.
"Yeah, I'm peeing my pants over here." Tahno said confidently before turning to you, with a very faint blush on his cheeks. "I'll win this match for you, (Y/N). Maybe we can go out to that Water Tribe restaurant you like so much." You turned to him with a bored look and said, "Gag me. We are not together anymore, Tahno, I just can't trust you." You brushed your bangs into your face and left without another word.
You ran into Asami in the hallway. "Oh, hey Asami." she hugged you and took a step back, noting your mood. "Great job! What a comeback! I--Hey...what's the matter?" she asked, green eyes shining earnestly. "Nothing, why don't you go see you boyfriend." You began to walk away when she grabbed your arm.
"Hey, you don't need to be strong around me, (Y/N), you've been there for me when I needed it. You can talk to me--" "No! I can't talk to anyone and especially not you because on of my main problems is I'm in love with you, and I just think you're wrong for Mako because he and Korra kissed and they belong together and I--" Asami cut you off by hugging you tightly, your arms tight around her waist. "(Y/N), I-I didn't know you felt that way." You took her hand in yours and kissed the top of it, locking eyes with her.
"Asami..." you left it at that and walked away, leaving her to her thoughts.
You ran to where you hid Neo, and hugged him with all your might, begging your tears not to fall, and while the polar bear dog didn't know what caused your pain, he simply nudged you with as much warmth as possible.  You took such good care of him, it hurt him to see you so upset.
You sniffed, and looked into Neo's blue eyes with a watery smile.
"Let's go home, boy."

you mentioned in your About Akabane Karma post that he has trust issues and that you could write a meta about it? um so if you ever feel like actually doing it, i just wanna let you know that I'd be... very very interested. I've always had the same thoughts/headcanons about him, but I find it really hard to exactly explain why I actually think these things about him. seeing someone like you actually analyzing and explaining it all would be a blessing to me LOL but also no pressure, i'm already content with all the assassination classroom content you already have 👌
Thank you so much for the anon!
Truth be told, I don’t have any plans to write a full meta about it. Covid Part Two has really kicked me in the energy. It’s also kind of hard for that kind of thing because my headcanons for Karma have become so deep over the years, it’s hard to actually distinguish genuine CANON.
I will give you a few rudimentary points though:
At the very least, it’s canon that he has problems with authority. He flat out says he has no trust for teachers after his incident in 2D, and we can pretty much gather the same for how he acts around the other teachers in the series, at least at first. He definitely comes around a little. Though, I don’t think we really see a display of ‘respect’ until the movie, aka adulthood, where he bows to Korosensei. But that could also largely be because the ending focuses much more on Nagisa. I think he had issues with trusting teachers and such much before that, gave trusting his 2D teacher a shot, and that was a really impactful let down.
The explanation of WHY he has issues with authority is left mostly unsaid. My opinion is that it has something to do with his parents, who canon do leave him to live mostly alone. It’s never explained how far back that actually started. Personally, I think they were kind of neglectful, and moved around a lot, so Karma developed issues with trusting them and other people.
He’s the thing, Karma IS an emotional and sensitive character. He just builds up an exterior, but it’s clear that he doesn’t keep his cool always. That’s demonstrated from the scene where he doesn’t study for the math test, and literally hides behind a tree out of frustration and I think embarrassment. You can see his emotions all over his face. This isn’t the only case of it either. So I would argue that a character with this kind of temperament is pretty vulnerable to trust problems.
Tumblr media
Cute pic, though
I’m not going to source it rn (mostly because I dont have the capacity), but the very reason Karma had no real friends was because he didn’t trust them. He goes into it a lot when he recounts meeting Nagisa for the first time. It’s implied that Nagisa is his only friend anyway at the time, and the reason he was so hurt at Nagisa having this supposed ‘secret’ side is because he felt a little betrayed by him, and he had extreme issues with trust there... fear Nagisa would kill him in his sleep, I believe? Even during 3E time, he keeps this massive gap between them for most of the series. At the start, his only relationships are mutual friends of Nagisa as it is. Gradually though, he does let go of this.
Learning to trust is pretty much his personal growth arc. He has many during the series, but his PERSONAL climax (I view the Nagisa issue as separate) is the final exam arc, when the only reason he can solve the last problem is because he’s learnt to lean on and trust his friends
In a kind of semi conclusion to this, my view on Karma is that he’s still woefully complicated. A lot of his issues come from an inability to actually open up, and it’s pretty sad honestly. He’s very misunderstood, both in the actual anime as well as the fandom. Just... let him be a sensitive bean between all the teasing and brilliance.
I love how I said this wouldn’t be a meta but it’s definitely a meta.

A Wish In A Jar
Pairing: Sugino and Nagisa (gen)
“Sugino,” The captain of Tomohito’s high school baseball team drawled from his perch on a changing room bench, “are you aware that there will be a hole on the floor from your pacing. Like, seriously dude, you’re worrying so loud that I can literally hear thoughts.”
“This is the fall tournament, Takahashi,” Tomohito said, nerves all tangled up into an anxiety-ridden amalgamation and hands wringing frantically, “winning this qualifies us for the Spring Koshien. Losing it w-”
“We’re not going to lose, Sugino,” their vice-captain, Nakajima, clapped him on the shoulder and shot him a friendly smile, “we’ve all been practically eating, sleeping and breathing baseball for the past few weeks so why don’t you sit down and try to calm down alright.”
“Yeah, dude,” another teammate voiced his concern, “you look like you’re about to keel over. I don’t see any reason why you should though - your fastball’s gotten pretty good.”
That didn’t really do much to soothe his apprehension but with a resigning sigh he did drop down onto a free bench. Anyone and everyone that knew Sugino Tomohito, or at least had a five minute conversation with him, knew that baseball was his passion, no competition (like, no joke, he even got sent to E-Class because he was too into it - but then again his year in 3-E was by far the best time he’s ever had so he’s counting that as a win) and that his dream since elementary school was to make it to the Koshien High School Baseball, and then get scouted and meet Arita and make it to the Japanese Professional Baseball League, and then play in the Nippon Series and then play for Major League Baseball in the World Series (hey, he’s got high hopes, sue him). Anyway, the idea is that baseball was his life and this game really means a lot to him so if he messes up even once then he can kiss his hopes and dreams goodbye as he buries himself under his bed covers with a bucket of fried chicken and hibernate there until he dies. Well, maybe he won’t be that dramatic but he really really wants to win and not disappoint his other hardworking teammates when they’ve already come so far. His dream was so close he could almost taste it. Or maybe that was his sense of impending doom. Who knows?
“Hey, Sugino, listen,” his captain said, “at least you’re still a first year. Even if something happens - which won’t by the way - then you’ve got all of the summer and next year to try again, and then the year after that.”
“Yeah, I know, but-”
Then, cutting through his thoughts like a professional pitch through the air, was a voice that Tomohito could recognise with his eyes closed, a voice that he’s known since Junior High would always be able to lift his spirits up.
“Sugino! Sugi-Sugino!”
And just like he expected, a flash of blue caught his vision before the person he was expecting stood by the door of the changing rooms, a hand gripping onto the door frame. He looked just as he sounded, out of breath and like he had ran a marathon. He was breathing deeply, the apples of his cheeks tinted red and the drawstring shoelaces at the center of his hoodie askew, but the moment he locked eyes with Tomohito, his face had physically brightened.
“Nagisa,” Tomohito said with a disbelieving laugh, “wha-how?”
“Oh, thank god you’re here,” their second baseman placed an arm around the blunette’s shoulder with a dramatic sigh akin to a priest whispering his thanks at the altar. He jerked his head in Sugino’s direction, “that one could use some cheering up. He’s acting like Cap did before he confessed to Naho-chan.”
Nagisa ducked instinctively when he saw an empty plastic bottle soar towards the other boy’s head and hit him square on the temple, the captain glowering at his teammate, “Oi, shut the f*ck up, Hagiwara.”
Tomohito watched with mild interest as his teammates began to undergo their usual routine of pre-game bickering before he felt a presence by his side and looked down to meet Nagisa’s shy gaze, “uh, hey?”
Nagisa giggled slightly at his (sorta lame) greeting, “hey, Sugino. Just came to check up on you, you know. See if you’re okay.”
“Why are you speaking like you didn’t spend an hour last night hyping me up on the phone and then sent me an essay over text about how I’m amazing and how much you believe in me,” Tomohito raised an amused eyebrow, muffling his laughter at Nagisa’s bashful smile. He vaguely registered someone whispering ‘gotta get me a bro like that’.
“I’m-I’m just trying to be a supportive friend,” the shorter boy defended himself, “I know how much this means for you okay, I just want you to know that I’m here for you.”
“Dude, I’ve never once had to question whether or not you’re there for me,” Tomohito punched the other lightly on his shoulder, “I like to think I know you well enough to know that I can always count on you to be by my side.”
“Always,” Nagisa nodded, “and hopefully that means you know me well enough to know that even if you don’t win - which is honestly the least likely outcome - I’ll still be proud of you because I know you well enough to know that you gave it your best.”
Tomohito swallowed, “I just wish that we do win.”
At that Nagisa smiled like he did when he had just won a game or had figured out a particularly difficult question, “Well, I think that I might have something that might help with that.”
At Tomohito’s furrowed brows and confused head tilt, the blunette turned and reached inside his shoulder bag that Tomohito had just realised was dangling near his hips. He placed both of his hands inside and then pushed something cold and solid into his chest. Tomohito glanced down before flicking his vision back at Nagisa’s meek face and then looking back down again. Slowly, he gripped onto the sides of whatever it was Nagisa had thrust towards him. Aware of the hushed whispers and gasps of awe, he held it out in front of him. The object appeared to be a medium sized mason jar which held hundreds upon hundreds of tiny little pieces of multicoloured papers, all folded into really small … paper cranes.
“A thousand paper cranes,” Nagisa said, looking at the floor and playing with the hairbands on his wrist, “Now if my memory serves me correctly, I believe that this should grant you one wish. You-you don’t have to use that now and I’m more than confident in your skills but, you know, if you need some form of divine intervention, which unfortunately I can’t give you, then…”
You’d think that being best friends with Shiota Nagisa since he was fourteen would make him immune to being surprised with just how much of an unbelievable person he was, but time has no impact whatsoever because the short little brunette with stuttering words and cautious hands always somehow seems to do yet another thing that completely throws him off his axis.
“When-when did you even have the time to do this?” he managed to stutter out,
Nagisa shrugged noncommittally, flashing one his signature shy smiles, “I have my ways. Plus, origami’s been a hobby of mine for years.”
“I-this is,” Tomohito choked, “Nagisa, thank you.”
“No problem,” Nagisa beamed. A few feet away, some of Tomohito’s teammates placed hands on their hearts whilst one pretended to faint.
“Would Keisetsu Daigaku Fuzoku High really mind if we keep you here?” One of his teammates asked Nagisa, “like seriously, have you ever considered transferring?”
“You’ve asked me that like twenty times,” Nagisa pointed out.
“Twenty-one,” Tomohito muttered. To say that Nagisa had some sort of charm would be an understatement. Even though Tomohito and Nagisa no longer went to the same school, they still made a habit to walk home together. Thankfully, their schools were within walking distance from each other and Tomohito’s after-school practices with his team lasted long enough for Nagisa to be able to make it to his school’s playing field at least five minutes before packing up. After two and a half weeks of Nagisa waiting for him by the gates of the field, his teammates demanded to be introduced and one thing led to another and now they all love him. Well, to be honest, how can anyone not? He wasn’t named ‘Class 3-E’s resident cinnamon roll/sunshine boy’ for nothing (Nakamura’s words, not his). Nagisa said that it was because of his unnecessary boasting that another school’s sport’s team would invite him over for baseball club sleepovers but Tomohito just laughed and said that there was a reason Fuwa had once told him that he could take over the world.
“I’d best get going to the stands,” Nagisa turned to his ex-classmate, “You brother’s saved a seat for me next to him and I don’t want to cause any problems. Oh and I’ve got to warn you - some of our old classmates are here and they’ve brought banners.”
Tomohito blushed, face-palming with a groan, “Seriously?”
“I tried,” Nagisa smiled sheepishly, “Fuwa wanted to bring a megaphone but I managed to negotiate her down to a noisemaker.”
“Whyy?” Tomohito despaired into his hand whilst Nagisa’s eyes shone with amusement at his clear suffering. Doesn’t he get enough embarrassment from his family?!
“I’m sure that they just want to show their support just as I do. And don’t worry, Isogai and I are here to keep them in line.”
“Thank the gods.”
The other gave him one last ‘good luck’ shoulder punch before adjusting his bag’s strap.
“Don’t forget what you told our sensei back in Junior High,” Nagisa said as he made his way, “‘I don’t want to just put up a fight. I want to win’.” The shorter boy then turned his head and looked directly into his eyes, a small smile gracing his face, “so go out there and give them hell.”
And with that, he left, leaving the ensemble of sportsmen staring at the door in his wake.
“That’s a good friend you’ve got there,” Yamato Akane, the team’s short-stop, observed.
“That was so sweet,” Hagiwara started swooning, stars in his eyes as he draped himself backwards onto a locker, “Oh if only someone would wish me luck like that. Hopefully a cute girl - who would come to me before the game and blush as she hands over a bouquet of flowers-”
“Shut the eff up, dumb*ss, no one wants to hear your stupid fantasies.”
“Ugh, rude.”
Tomohito dodged the stray jersey that was sent flying in the other boy’s direction, clutching onto the jar like it was his first born child. His entire body was on fire.
Let’s show them.

Addressing Haru’s Emotions Towards Makoto vs Rin (Season 1, Ep 11 & 12)
(ft. my low quality first attempt at gifmaking)
So I was innocently looking up Rin and Haru meta on Google (I’m addicted to RinHaru meta plz send help) when I came across this little thread that tried to discredit RinHaru by comparing Haru’s emotional confrontation with Rin in S01E12 vs Haru’s emotional “thank you” to Makoto in S1E11.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh give me a break.
Tumblr media
{gif from google}
Disclaimer before we dive in:
Now, I know this was posted by antis back when the shipwars within the fandom were at their worst, but I still wanted to address this because I myself am new to Free! and the fandom (I discovered Free! a couple of months ago in mid-July), and being so new to the fandom, these kinds of comments hit like they’re fresh, ya know? I know for me, finding posts of people defending both Rin and RinHaru against the hate really brought me comfort as a baby in the fandom, and I know there are new people coming into the fandom who may feel the same way.
Also, although many of these tumblr posts were written years ago, I still see this kind of stuff active on the internet: on youtube, anime forums, and even kpop forums, believe it or not. So there are still people out there who think these kinds of ways and say these kinds of things, and hopefully addressing posts like these will help highlight the inaccuracies in this kind of thinking...while, again, bringing a sense of consolation to other RinHaru shippers out there.
Makoto is my lil-big squish and I appreciate the MakoHaru friendship, so in no way am I trying to undermine their relationship because it is important (and there’s no way you can deny that Haru does love Makoto at least platonically). So though I may come off strong towards these types of MH shippers, it doesn’t mean I’m talking about all MH shippers and it’s certainly not towards Makoto. I will, however, place things in a proper perspective because I see a lot of exaggerating and misrepresenting going on in order to undermine just how much Rin means to Haru (which is baffling to me because it’s so obvious and CANON just how strongly Haru cares about Rin and wants him in his life).
And YES, I’m a RinHaru shipper. There is a possibility of ship-bias, but I do my best to be fair. Plus, I love these boys.
Well, let’s get into it.
(tl;dr in bold & at end of post)
...but telling Makoto “thank you” and that he “appreciates him being here for him” is overwhelming to the point that he can’t even look at Makoto while talking and feels the need to run out of his room in the middle of the night, the night before their super important relay.
So the scene with Makoto being referenced by OP is the MakoHaru scene in S01E11 in which both Makoto and Haru are in their hotel room the night before the big tournament. They’re in their respective beds, and Haru opens up to Makoto and thanks him for always being there for him. Feeling embarrassed as well as being unable to sleep, Haru leaves and goes for a run.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then of course, the climactic scene of the whole season: Rin and Haru’s final confrontation. No need for me to summarize it because we ALL know what goes down:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
last gif brought to you straight out of a shoujo manga ;D
Comparing Haru's reactions between these two counters is erroneous because so much about them is different, and thus Haru is coming from totally different places emotionally.
These are two different situations under completely different circumstances (with two different people who hold different places in Haru's heart. Again, different). With Makoto, you had a sweet, heartfelt moment in which Haru opens up his heart to his best friend and thanks Makoto deeply (in his Haru-like way) for always being there for him, for being someone he can always depend on and lean upon for all these years.  With Rin, you had a culmination of so much raw emotion and misunderstanding between two friends who cared about each other—but thought the other person didn’t reciprocate—finally coming to a head-on collision. This has Haru in a completely different mental and emotional state when he confronted Rin than when he was with Makoto in their hotel room.
Haru went through a whole freakin' lot over the years, even just in Season 1 alone. He just experienced an "existential crisis" of sorts in eps 8 and 9 after Rin told him he was never going to swim with him again, and Makoto was a big part of why Haru was able to overcome that feeling of blackness and discover his enjoyment in swimming relay (Rei and Nagisa and their team-manship being the other part of the reason). Makoto has been THE constant support in Haru's life, always supporting him from the shadows and taking care of him without ever asking for anything in return. I believe that in the excitement, anticipation and emotions of the entire team's journey thus far that brought them to that hotel room for their big tournament, Haru began thinking about everything that led up to such a big moment in their lives. And he knew that the major support in his life right there in the hotel room with him, and in this poignant moment, Haru expresses his gratitude.
(Sidenote: a confession of gratitude =/= a love confession, folks. I've seen people hype up that Shimizaki called it a “confession” from Haru to Makoto, and that Utsumi agreed, and so they somehow equate it to a "confession of love" when…sorry luvs, but no. In the same statement Utsumi says, "…it is a confession to his best friend.[…] this is the first time he openly expresses his feelings of gratitude for that consistent support." It’s a confession of gratitude, not non-platonic “love.”) [x]
And Haru being Haru, he doesn’t often express himself emotionally. The hotel scene was one of the few times Haru ever verbally expressed to Makoto how deeply he appreciates him, and of course, as someone who doesn’t express their emotions or feelings on the regular, he was embarrassed. I agree that it’s totally sweet and makes you uwu because Haru expressing his emotions is uwu, and the fact that he did it to his best friend Makoto who's BEEN deserving it makes it even more UWU. I totally understand how this scene is precious to MakoHaru shippers, and it should be for it was a very sweet and heartwarming scene between the two best friends (and it was about time Haruka expressed his appreciation to Makoto).
That being said, trying to use an exaggeration of what actually happened in that scene as ammo against Haru’s feelings for Rin is just...not it. Haru didn’t leave the hotel room solely because he was embarrassed about thanking Makoto, and certainly not because:
...telling Makoto “thank you” and that he “appreciates him being here for him” is overwhelming to the point that he can’t even look at Makoto while talking and feels the need to run out of his room in the middle of the night, the night before their super important relay.
...as OP claims. There were other factors that played a much more significant part in Haru feeling “overwhelmed” and causing him to “feel the need to run out of his room in the middle of the night before their super important relay”—one of those factors being said super important relay.
We know Haru is nervous about the tournament and can’t sleep because of it—Makoto even calls him out on this. Then shortly after, when Haru runs into Nagisa out in the town, Nagisa and Haru go to a nearby playground and Nagisa also asks Haru if he’s can't sleep because he's nervous. Haru tries to dodge the question (he doesn’t want to admit it, very on brand for Haru), but when Nagisa admits that even he’s nervous—and has been so since they got onto the bus—Haru is shocked and asks, “You are??!” He’s surprised that he wasn’t the only one feeling nervous about the tournament, which confirms Makoto’s observation from earlier: that Haru is nervous about the tournament and can’t sleep because of it. This along with him being embarrassed are why he goes out for the run. (But honestly, it makes way more sense to the story that it was primarily because of his nervousness about the tournament that he left the hotel room, not because he was embarrassed thanking Makoto).
Also, just pointing out: Nagisa reveals one of the reasons why Haru is nervous about the tournament (and therefore one of the reasons he can’t sleep):
Tumblr media
Nagisa: “We’ll be racing Rin-chan tomorrow. That’s probably why you’re nervous.”
I know that some shippers out there (*eyes OPs*) would love to tell themselves that it was all just Haru feeling so overwhelmed with emotion from merely telling Makoto that he appreciates him, and that Haru just couldn’t handle sharing these emotions with the one he luvvvs so he runs out into the middle of the night because it’s all just TOO OVERWHELMING...
...but, that’s just not how it actually was.
YES Haru was embarrassed from expressing his appreciation to Makoto, but he was also nervous and anxious about the tournament—and about racing against Rin. Remember, the last time he raced Rin in ep 7/8, Rin won and told Haru he’d never have to swim with him again. That left Haru in a black hole; yet on the flip side, when he had raced Rin in middle school and won, Rin said that he was quitting swimming and in turn, Haru also quit competitive swimming because he thought he hurt Rin. So in Haru's mind: "beating Rin = losing Rin, which means I get hurt BUT ALSO Rin winning = never swimming with him again/losing Rin, which still means I get hurt." So you can imagine the apprehension, anxiety and nervousness Haru is dealing with from all these different uncertainties. (@skania explains Haru’s internal dilemma regarding beating Rin very well in this post; seriously you guys her Free! Meta is everything I'm in love with her posts, please go check her stuff out.)
Haru being embarrassed with Makoto does NOT mean that, as the mh shippers in the OP are insinuating, Haru doesn’t actually care about Rin because he wasn’t “overwhelmed” with emotion enough to run from the situation, but instead was “just fine” during his confrontation with Rin.
i still can’t get over the fact that Haru gets through the entire end scene with Rin face-to-face just fine (where they’re yelling about feelings and Rin’s crying on him and everything’s so amped up between them)
Umm…did you guys just skip over this entire scene that was legitimately the most emotionally-charged scene in the entire season?
youtube
Haru literally has tears in his eyes as he finally [and “desperately”] reveals to Rin how he really feels [x]:
Tumblr media
Did you not hear how just seconds earlier, Haru was literally shouting his feelings to Rin, and how before that he momentarily fell back into a black hole at the thought of never being able to swim with Rin again?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did you totally miss how even Nagisa pointed out that Haru wasn’t in the condition to swim their relay at their "super important tournament" because he was so devastated about Rin? Did you not watch as Haru risked his relay race at said "super important tournament" to go look for Rin—”running with abandon”—and reconcile with him?
Did y’all not watch the same anime as the rest of us in which the whole resolution is Haru and the rest of the guys willingly getting disqualified at the super important tournament just so they could have a chance to swim relay with Rin again?
Are you guys so obsessed with your ship that you willingly blind yourselves to what’s actually going on in the anime outside of your otp?
Like I said above, Haru was in different emotional states in these two scenes:
With Makoto, Haru is embarrassed from emotionally opening up and expressing his appreciation for Makoto—something he does not usually do—coupled with his anxiety and nervousness about the relay.
With Rin, Haru is in pure relief that after all of this time, after all of these years, Rin feels the same as him and that he’s finally able to reconcile with his friend.
What did the OPs expect, for Haru to run away from Rin in that scene because he’s so overwhelmed with emotion? Haru ran after Rin—he was DONE running away from Rin, and with Rin running away from him. This entire episode was about their reconcilement, not them running away from each other yet again. Haru is finally free from the emotional weights of his unresolved conflict with Rin, and what OPs claim to be Haru being “just fine” is in actuality Haru being utterly relieved and happy. Throughout the season, Haru had been wanting to feel free, but it wasn't until he and Rin reconciled that he actually achieved that freedom. Can you really deny the emotion in Haru’s eyes and smile during this scene? I mean, just look at him:
Tumblr media
Do you really think KyoAni is going to have Haru be “jUsT fInE” after he finally made things right with the friend who had been haunting him ever since elementary school?
BOTH scenes were emotional for Haru. BOTH scenes were important for Haru, and for his friends involved. BOTH interactions evoked strong emotions within Haru because he loves and cares about BOTH Makoto and Rin.
.
.
Tl;dr: Haru was much more (expressively) emotional in the entirety of ep12—let alone in the confrontation scene with Rin—than he was in the hotel room with Makoto. No one can honestly deny that, it's all over the animation and soundtrack and directing of the entire episode. This isn't a knock to Makoto and doesn't mean Haru cares about him any less than he actually does. However, the entire season was about Haru and Rin reconciling + the power of friendship, so of course their reconcilement would be the climax of the show. In addition, throughout the whole season Haru had such powerful emotions when it came to Rin, so it makes sense that their reconcilement scene would be one of the most, dare I say the most emotional scene in the show. That's not bias, that's just merely how it is.

with age comes wisdom ( or at the very least, entirely unneccessary celebrations )
Characters /  Pairing: Fukawa Touko / Naegi Komaru ( focused ), Syo / Komaru, Warriors of Hope
crossposted on ao3
Notes: happy @tokomaruweek week everyone!! i love these funky wlw so i am going to try and have some stuff up this week, but i probably won’t manage to do the whole week / i'll go back to do the ones i miss afterwards? we’ll see.
for today i decided to combine the birthdays + warriors of hope prompts.
i’m also just ignoring canon’s timeline bc god knows i did not want to figure out that bs sorry dr3 ily but i dont love you that much just know it is somewhere post sdr2 / pre dr3 probably?
i also use they/them for syo ( nonbinary hc ) and while there aren’t any specific trauma mentions, given the group of characters this revolves around, there’s refrences to the fact they have shit lives. and some lighthearted murder jokes and self-deprication?
Summary: nothing says happy birthday quite like babysitting her ( favorite ) group of brats
It’s just her luck that this would happen— a coincidence for sure, but that doesn’t make Touko any happier about the whole thing.
This is the situation: they don’t usually see the ( former ) Warriors of Hope much. The kids stay on their side of Towa, and her and Komaru tend to stick closer to the adults. The adults are the ones that need to be kept under supervision, in her opinion. Not that the kids are blameless, but is there much reasoning with brainwashed kids? No. Of course not. Are the adults also practically brainwashed and hard to reason with. Yes. Would this all be easier if Future Foundation was involved? Yes. Yes it would, but for obvious reasons they are not ( they have all agreed to omit some information from public record for the sake of those involved, and right now Naegi’s stunt with the Remnants have Future Foundation’s attention away from them ).
Sometimes Komaru takes some of the things that they get over to the kids because things are rough enough as it is, and Syo will go with her because they can keep the Monokuma off their tracks better. Or you know, because Syo is generally more helpful to Komaru when it comes to things like that. She’s not jealous.
Allegedly— Touko does not know this for a fact herself since she hadn’t been fronting, and only learns this second hand while she is in the middle of typing up a report to send back to the foundation— Kotoko is the one to bring it up, casually handing off some of her share of the cookies Komaru had made for them, to Jataro. An early birthday present, she had said ( pointedly ignoring Nagisa, who’d pointed out she had given Jataro the ones he hated ), before turning to Komaru to ask if they could throw a party. A small one. With no murder, because that would be ‘totally not adorbs’. And no adults, because they stink ( it goes unsaid that Komaru and Touko themselves are the clear exception to this rule, which is some kind of progress, supposedly ).
That seemed like a fairly reasonable request, according to Komaru, who’s only response was to ask when his birthday was. And then accidentally lets it slip that hey, that’s the week that Touko-chan’s birthday is! And that’s how Touko finds out that apparently, she’s having a joint birthday party with the kids because Masaru managed to turn a party into a competition, somehow? Touko has no clue what that actually entails, because Komaru refuses to elaborate.
( Also, at one point before leaving, Komaru had tried asking Jataro if there was anything she could get him; to which he’d remarked, “A new mask?”
...Yeah, Touko can’t blame her for not knowing what to say to that, even if Komaru had spun it as not the most self-deprecating thing he could have said, which was an improvement? She personally disagrees, but whatever )
Here, she should point out the obvious fact that she does not want to really celebrate her birthday, let alone have a party for it. Because those kind of things lean so far into the zone of things Touko doesn’t really know how to handle, that it makes her close to uncomfortable. And if— if she had humored herself in imagining how she would ideally spend her birthday this year; quite frankly, it would be very quiet and boring and only with Komaru. Not with a group of ten year olds. Ten year olds that she might think of rather fondly, but ten year old brats all the same.
( It’s not like she has any alive friends: if Touko acknowledges the other survivors, justifiably they are too busy with more important matters to fuss over a birthday. They aren’t kids anymore. Some of them hadn’t ever really been like normal kids to begin with, but that’s besides the point )
“Look at the bright side,” She starts, and she bites back a snide what bright side and remark about how that’s all Komaru’s good at ( it’s not. She’s more talented than she gives herself credit for ). “None of you probably have really positive memories when it comes to birthdays or parties, so even if it isn’t the greatest, at least the bar to please should be pretty easy to clear!”
Touko thinks she probably gets the point she is trying to make here, but Komaru’s complete and utter lack of tact doesn’t make for the best delivery. “Are you trying to...to make me feel bad? S-So sorry my life was complete sh-shit growing up.”
“No! That’s not what I meant at all!” Komaru pouts at her. “Does that mean you’re not interested in having a party?”
It’s not like she’s so cold-hearted and selfish that she’s going to say no to that. Well, no, that’s not quite true, Touko might be just that; but it doesn’t really matter either way, because Komaru gives her best kicked dog impression, so she says ( a less than enthusiastic ) no, she doesn’t mind, yes you can have a party; even if she thinks she’ll probably regret that choice.
Okay, if you are to be honest with herself, some part of Touko that never got to be a normal child doesn’t entirely mind the thought of a party, even if it’s...not the most ideal scenario, the impractical fantasy situation that lives in her head. But if she says that aloud, Komaru will either take it too seriously, use it as an excuse to celebrate things more often, or something else that probably has consequences that she doesn’t want to think about. And also admittedly because if she says it aloud, she has to acknowledge it, and maybe she doesn't want to get her hopes up over something as stupid as a party.
( There’s also the fact that, deep in her extremely repressed memories of Hope’s Peak before the tragedy, she does remember parties. Birthdays. Celebrating things with her classmates, if somewhat forcibly so. She has no desire to remember those things, so those feelings remain repressed with most of her trauma )
It’s easy to not acknowledge any of that when she has to deal with the sudden onslaught of a headache that is Syo forcing themselves into their shared headspace, hand rubbing at her temples. Not trying to co-front, she can tell they aren’t trying to snatch control from her ( for now ), just forcing her to pay attention to them. It works, even though Touko has told them to not do this specifically because of how irritating it is for her.
I could scare the kids into cooperating? It’ll save us a headache and a half! Syo offers, maybe too eagerly. Their ideas of scare and cooperate are probably different from her own. Still. She also knows Syo is aware of more than they are letting on, given that they had been present when this conversation had occurred, but she doesn’t think she’ll get much out of them in that regard.
No. Touko tells them firmly. It’ll be counterproductive, Komaru won’t let you do that, and they’re all traumatized enough without you adding to that.
Boo, you sure about that? Consider it a birthday gift from me!
No. She repeats herself sternly, and she feels them withdraw a bit after that. Ugh, Syo hasn’t had a chance to front much recently, now that she thinks about it. Since they usually only take over when she’s in danger, and she hasn’t really been in ( as much ) danger now that things are starting to calm down. Well, relatively speaking. Syo is probably just looking for an excuse to be allowed to front, since it’s probably rough going from being very present to rarely getting the chance to be out: akin to going cold turkey on an addiction. That’s not exactly her fault ( or theirs ), but maybe she’ll ask Komaru if she’d be okay with hanging out with Syo more, if only to placate them a little, before they try something more drastic.
“Everything okay? That was Syo, right?” She hears Komaru ask after a few minutes, and Touko rubs her eyes and blinks. “You looked a little frustrated.”
She considers telling her the truth, but no point in getting her concerned over nothing. She’d like to figure out what she wants to negotiate with Syo firstm so she’ll leave that conversation for another time. “Fine. They just...ugh, just wanted to make sure I was okay with it.”
“And you are okay with it, right? You aren’t agreeing just because I asked?” Touko thinks she begged more than she asked, but she’s pretty sure Komaru will only sulk if she brings that up.
“I wouldn’t let you if, if I was really opposed to it.” Probably. She...trusted Komaru, or something like that, so she figures she’d probably be more honest with herself and not mentally torture herself by putting herself through something she has no interest in. “But...what are you even planning on doing to celebrate? I can’t im-imagine we’ve really got much around here that we can use for a party.”
“Ah. Uhm.” Komaru looks a little embarrassed at that. “About that. I was kind of hoping you and Syo might help pitch in. You don’t mind, right?”
You’re hopeless, she wants to mutter, but—
Yeah!!!! Syo wakes right back up upon being mentioned, no sense of self awareness at all, much to your annoyance, but it’s not like you completely disagree with the feeling that is shared between you two.
“You— You really bit off more than you could chew, hm...? Good thing this wasn’t supposed t-t-to be a surprise.” She quips, leaning over to peer at the paper she’d been making her notes on. “We’ll help, just tell us what we...what we need to do.”
“Thank you, Touko-chan! And Syo too!” Komaru sounds somewhere mixed between grateful and relieved, and casually plants a kiss on her cheek as if it’s no big deal—
She said my name last, so the kiss was for me! She knows Syo is intentionally trying to provoke her and get a rise out of her ( yeah, a rising sense of jealousy ), but puts that aside for the time being because Komaru’s blabbering on like nothing happened.
“I know we probably won’t have the whole day to ourselves to do whatever—” Correctomundo, Dekomaru! “— but I’ll make it up to you on your birthday, okay? We’ll do something that you want.”
“You don't...there’s no need for that.” She forces out between gritted teeth, trying to ignore the flustered feeling in the pit of her stomach, chewing around a fingernail ( what an unattractive sight to follow that ). “Because— ugh, don’t repeat th-this, okay? What I want to do is spend time with...with you. That’s all. So don’t go...you don’t need to go out of your way trying to do s-s-something over the top. Stick to being normal.”
“Really? You’re sure?” Komaru sounds a little uncertain, but happy enough to pull her into a hug, despite her grumbled complaint. “Oh, but Syo has their own birthday, don’t they? So I should probably ask them what they want as well, right?”
“Don’t make me repeat m-myself. It’s embarrassing...” Touko huffs, but lets herself be held against her side, just for a moment. It’s nice, though she won’t admit it ( it is better than any real gift that she could receive ). Syo is kind enough to back off long enough to let her have this moment. “You can ask them later— focus on, on what you need to plan.”
By something short of a miracle, they are able to pull together a party that is not a complete disaster, even if Komaru probably has a point when she says the bar to clear is a pretty low standard for all parties involved. The closest she has to an actual concern is the very narrowly avoided fight that almost breaks out when Masaru and Kotoko fight over which one of them should give their present first— which is apparently the competitive aspect of the party? It’s probably meant to be heartwarming, if it were not such a foreign thing to Touko. Which Nagisa is quick to put an end to: because this is how they would treat Monaca, which is not inherently healthy, and she’s glad that at least one of them can recognize that fact now. Jataro spends the entirety of the fight trying to hide behind her long skirt and, relatable kid, and rubs the top of his head while Komaru tries to both scold them for fighting and appease them because they’re, well. Kids. Who still need to learn some things and have time to unlearn things.
So yeah, it’s a good party— for not being on her actual birthday, she’ll consider it one of the better memories Touko has associated with the day. The start of many, she’d like to hope.

Much Ado About Nothing
Priest: Do you, Makoto Naegi, take Kyoko Kirigiri to be your lawfully wedded wife?
Tumblr media
I do.
Priest: And you, Kyoko Kirigiri, take Makoto Naegi as your husband?
Tumblr media
Yes.
Priest: You may now kiss the bride.
*Makoto and Kyoko kiss, and everyone attending the wedding cheers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well...it took a lot to get here...but I’m glad we could have a mostly happy ending, huh?
Tumblr media
Yeah, I agree. Although...
Tumblr media
I don’t think we’re the one’s who really earned the happy ending.
Tumblr media
Yeah...that would be those two...
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
...
*Makoto and Kyoko look back up at the alter, where Toko and Komaru are waiting for each other.
Tumblr media
It might be a little late now but...are you sure you’re alright with this? This is my last chance to put a stop to it.
Tumblr media
As of today, we’ll all be Naegi’s. It’s only natural for a family to share in these endevours.
Tumblr media
Kyoko...
Priest: You may now kiss the bride.
*Toko and Komaru kiss and everyone cheers again.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
...
*Kyoko and Makoto get to their feet and start applauding. Everyone else joins in.
Tumblr media
*Halfway through the party, Makoto and Kyoko have done their celebrations, and now it is the girls turn.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Are you ok?
Tumblr media
Huh? Y-Yeah...
Tumblr media
I feel kinda bad though...Like I’m jumping on someone else’s ride free of charge...
Tumblr media
I feel similar honestly...
Tumblr media
Komaru...Have you ever heard of the story “Much Ado About Nothing.”
Tumblr media
Um...yeah, actually, I studied it for like a week in school.
Tumblr media
Do you know how the story ends?
Tumblr media
...Refresh my memory...
Tumblr media
The story revolves around two different couples, and in the end, they all share their vows in a double wedding.
Tumblr media
And the pairs in that story are rather similar to us...
Tumblr media
Really?
Tumblr media
In a manner of speaking, yes.
Tumblr media
One of the couples is constantly at each others throats. I’d say that’s accurate for the two of you, is it not?
Tumblr media
H-Hey!
Tumblr media
That’s uncalled for!
Tumblr media
Hahaha...
Tumblr media
Oh, that reminds me. You still need to do your speech, don’t you?
Tumblr media
Oh, that’s right! I-Is now a good time?
Tumblr media
Everyone’s gathered together, so go ahead.
Tumblr media
...
*Komaru inhales then exhales as she steps up to a microphone.
Tumblr media
Oh hey! Shhh...
*Noticing this, Kanon shushes everyone around her as Komaru taps the mic.
Tumblr media
Um...H-Hello...Komaru here...
Tumblr media
W-Well you know that already...
Tumblr media
Sorry. I’m kinda winging this, so if I screw up, I’m sorry in advance.
Tumblr media
A-As you all know...There have been some...recent events, that have really taken a toll on me and...
Tumblr media
Well, my now wife, Toko.
Tumblr media
But...we’ve been through hell before, with the other to support us...
Tumblr media
This time was different though. There are many people who helped us through these terrible times lately. Firstly, I’d like to thank my brother, Makoto, his wife, Kyoko, and Byakuya Togami, for all the support they’ve been giving us. Both on the mission, and on an emotional level.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Hmph...
Tumblr media
Next...I’d like to thank the old Warriors of Hope. Jataro, Kotoko and Masaru, who were willing to take down an entire organization of people in my honor, even if I didn’t ask them to.
Tumblr media
Hehehe...
Tumblr media
Hmhm...
Tumblr media
Damn straight.
Tumblr media
I’d also like to thank Nagisa Shingetsu and...well, I never thought I’d be saying this but, I’d also like to thank Monaca Towa. It’s because of them that I’m standing here today. Literally...
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
*Sigh* Can people just stop being nice to me already?
Tumblr media
On a similar note, I’d like to thank the NEW warriors of hope too. They may hold themselves responsible, but if it wasn’t for Ryoma Hoshi, Akeru Yozora and the rest of their band, Haiji Towa may very well never have been stopped.
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
And in particular, I’d like to give a round of applause for the brave men and women who stuck with us through the final mission, even though they knew the risks very well. Even though we hardly knew each other, I’d like to think we grew as friends in the short time we had to prepare. We knew we were risking our lives for this mission, and we accepted that.
Tumblr media
So many thanks...to Yasuhiro Hagakure, Kanon Nakajima, Kibin Hatsudoki...
Tumblr media
And yes...even you, Kuripa Kurafto.
Tumblr media
Haha!
Tumblr media
...
Tumblr media
Hm...Didn’t think I’d be getting any thanks...
Tumblr media
Wow...she’s grateful, even after what happened...
Tumblr media
And of course, I’d love to thank everyone who came today, to see the union of both of us, and of my brother and Kyoko.
Tumblr media
Everyone, please give all these people a round of applause!
*Everyone does so. A few of them start to bow.
Tumblr media
*After the wedding, everyone gathers around as everyone is cleaning up.
Tumblr media
Hey Kanon.
Tumblr media
Oh, hey Komaru. Great speech up there by the way.
Tumblr media
Thanks a bunch.
Tumblr media
Oh, hey you guys. By chance have any of you seen Kuripa? I haven’t seen him since half an hour ago...
Tumblr media
Oh, Kuripa left early. He said he thought it would be bad if he stuck around. I think Kibin went with him.
Tumblr media
Oh right, I guess Kuripa still has to pay Kibin, huh?
Tumblr media
But...he had a message for you Komaru and Toko.
Tumblr media
Really, what’s that?
Tumblr media
He um...He said he was...sorry.
Tumblr media
He didn’t want to make things awkward, and he didn’t know if you’d accept it if he told you face to face, so he asked me to pass on a message.
Tumblr media
He told me that he doesn’t intend to change his mind about his actions or motives...but he’s sorry that he basically went against your command.
Tumblr media
I see...
Tumblr media
Well, as long as he doesn’t do it again...I guess I can forgive him.
Tumblr media
Haiji WAS a terrible person, and I don’t think he deserved to die like that...but death might have been a merciful fate for a man like him.
Tumblr media
Actually, speaking of people who are missing...where’s Hiro?
Tumblr media
Oh...well...
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Uh...H-Hey...mom...It’s me...y-your son.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I-I mean...you know that...At least, I hope you do...
Tumblr media
I...I hope that I’ve made you proud...I-I don’t know how you would have felt about Haiji’s death...but I hope you’re proud of me...I hope that...I’ve done a good thing...
Tumblr media
It’s because of you that this whole fight started...and in your name, I wanted to end it...
Tumblr media
For once...I wanted to be a son you could be proud of...
Tumblr media
She WAS proud of you Hiro.
Tumblr media
Huh? K-Komaru? Toko? Kanonball?
Tumblr media
Hiro. When we first met Hiroko, she was the one we went to to save the rest of the demons that were trapped in the game.
Tumblr media
And we learnt a bit about you from her...
Tumblr media
Hiroko always seemed like a woman who had hardly any regrets in life, but even with that...
Tumblr media
I think it’s clear you were the best thing that ever happened to her.

Hey Mr. Business, How Do You Do?
short fic!
Nagisa is a barista with a very messed up desire. The day has come to make that desire come to life... by causing a death.
this will be coming to ao3 too. Prompt credit to @akari-loves-pudding and @pinklovely05
----------------------------------------------------------
The horrible pay and nearly harassing treatment by customers that come with working in a coffee shop do not justify murder. His job also wasn’t exactly Shiota Nagisa’s reason. What was about to happen came more or less forth out of a sudden urge, a need to try something out. That need wasn’t exactly telling him to “try everything”, but at the very least told him to “try murder”.
He wasn’t a serial killer, for the record. He’d never killed anyone before and, frankly, he probably never would again after this. There was no denying how powerful he felt though, holding the tiny glass bottle between his fingers behind the counter. It was so interesting how such a harmless looking bit of liquid could do so much to the human body.
If Nagisa had been a more poetic person, he’d refer it back to himself. He wasn’t exactly tall, or muscular, or very impressing when judged by looks. However, the truth was that he could very much do harm to people. And he would, as soon as he’d found a suitable target.
The best description for the customers in the coffee shop that day would be ‘average’. The clientele consisted of the usual hipsters, bored elderly, tired students, and business men in a hurry. Of course there were some odd cases that didn’t fit any of the mentioned groups, but they didn’t leave much of an impression on Nagisa. Some people just pushed your buttons more than others.
With every person that came in he judged how annoying they were and how high the chances of him murdering them was. Most hipsters were irritating, but not horrible people. Their orders were by far the worst though, as if they thought ordering a ‘mocha latte mixed with cinnamon and whipped cream with caramel drizzle on top’ would make them so much cooler than the person ordering a plain black coffee.
Of course, the black coffee was mostly ordered by the students and businessmen. The difference? The students asked for at least two espresso shots, and even then Nagisa had caught them mixing it with their energy drinks several times. He didn’t care that much, the only customer he ever stopped was the one that brought their own bottle of liquor to add to their coffee. Not only was that against company policy, it was also 10 AM.
The bored elderly might actually need another title. They were simply complainers, not even always elderly, but at the very least they weren’t young. They’re categorized as bored because apparently their only entertainment left in this world was to complain about every single thing to Nagisa, even if those things were completely out of his control. If he had to deal with one more middle aged lady complaining too much sun shone on the window table he’d break the register right off the counter, because he could, in fact, not “tone down the sunlight.”
After dealing with a certain customer that apparently did not know a macchiato was in fact “milk with coffee, rather than coffee with milk”, Nagisa saw who he considered to be the perfect target. He was annoying, smug, and Nagisa would not miss his daily conversations with this man.
His name was Akabane Karma, and he was a very annoying person. The first time he’d come in, Nagisa had considered him kind of cool. It appeared he had a respectable job, which later turned out to be a bureaucratic function, and he was very good looking. The way his his hair was swept to one side framed his face pretty nicely, and Nagisa wished he could look like that... manly.
However, the second time he came in, his personality shone through just wonderfully. It only took the time of him greeting the taller man for said man to make a very uncalled for comment on Nagisa’s physique. Of course, it wasn’t even like usual cat calling telling him to bend over or whatever, it was the usual stupid calling that tried to inform him on how much he looked like a girl.
“No, but, you’re sure you’re male right?” Karma said to him, after Nagisa had just informed him of his gender after being asked. “You could have fooled me.”
Nagisa had let out a sigh, but tried to maintain his composure, mostly because he didn’t want to lose his job just because some guy liked making comments about a topic he was perhaps a little sensitive about. He reassured him of his gender once more and continued to ask about his order.
Karma, being the bothersome person he was, wasn’t ready to let it go though.
“Okay but you have to admit you look quite like a girl.” He shrugged, still not giving Nagisa his order. Nagisa held his hand on the medium sized to-go cups stack, trying to clarify he wanted Karma to move on already. He seemed to get the hint.
“Fine, blonde roast cappuccino,” He ordered, much to Nagisa’s amusement. He’d ordered a macchiato last time, the guy probably didn’t even really like coffee that much. “And how about for the name, you write down your number.” Of course he couldn’t end Nagisa’s discomfort just like that.
“I’m not doing that, sorry customer.” Nagisa remained smiling as he wrote down ‘Akabane’ on the cup. “One blonde roast cappuccino for Akabane coming up.”
Before he walked away Karma sent one last creepy smile to Nagisa. “But you remembered my name, huh?”
It was safe to say that that one interaction was enough for Nagisa to realize he did not like the guy. To make matters worse, he started coming in every day, even saying cheesy stuff like how he’d come there just for Nagisa. It was not only creepy but also annoying, seeing as Karma’s entire thing seemed to be making teasing comments at Nagisa and ordering something different literally every time.
But this time, he had something very nice with him that would definitely surprise Karma. He’d put away the vile in his apron to make working easier, but the moment he stroked his hand over the pocket of it to casually check it was there, he felt his kind customer-greeting smile grow into more of a grin.
“Welcome to the shop!” He greeted the red head, using his customer addressing voice that showed more enthusiasm than he’d ever be able to feel, the moment he came in through the door. Said customer looked up at him and immediately smiled. He had no idea what was coming for him.
Karma approached the counter and went to lean his elbows on it, resting his head on the back of his hands. “Did you miss me?” He asked, that annoying smirk on his face again. Nagisa hadn’t missed him, but he was happy he was there right then.
“The usual feelings apply,” He replied, hiding any murderous intentions he felt. “are you going to sit down today or to-go?”
“I have time off, I’ll be sitting down and you can be my waiter.” Karma answered. Usually, this would annoy Nagisa quite a lot. If he sat down he’d have to deal with him longer, and being his waiter most of the time meant Karma just kept calling for him for literally everything. Of course, you can’t really tell the customer off. This time, however, he was glad to be able to see Karma enjoy his drink.
He directed Karma to sit down at a free table and told him he’d be with him in a bit. His hand went to the pocket with the vile in it once more, somewhat excited for what was about to happen. He didn’t show anything in his face or posture. If there was one thing Nagisa had mastered, it was hiding his intentions and bloodlust. He couldn’t look suspicious now, he could not be blamed for everything once this was done, even if he was very guilty.
Eventually he went to Karma’s table, notebook and pen in hand. “So what can I get you today?” He asked politely, taking Karma’s attention from the monthly specials paper.
“I don’t suppose you are on the menu?” He asked.
“No, I meant coffee or side dish.” Nagisa kept his smile on his face, trying very hard not to grind his teeth too much.
Karma looked over the laminated paper one more time before pointing at a picture on it. “This… chocolate coffee thing.”
“One chocolate mocha latte, right.” Nagisa wrote down the drink, internally hating on the process of making the drink. It was a little more effort than he really wished for. He supposed it didn’t matter much how it tasted, it’d be the last one Karma would drink anyways. “Anything on the side?” He added, tilting his head as he asked to appear even more innocent.
There wasn’t much of a reaction from Karma as he read over the paper again. “No I think it’s fine like that.” He finally said after a bit. With that Nagisa sent him a last polite smile and went off to make his drink.
When he returned behind the counter Kayano had offered to make the drink for him. “There’s no one in line anyways.” She’d shrugged, but Nagisa refused. With all the extras he couldn’t really throw the poison in last. He turned to grab a coffee cup and pumped in all the syrups needed, waiting for Kayano to turn away before he took the most devious step in his plan.
The moment he held the opened little glass bottle he felt himself start to doubt. There really wasn’t any going back the moment he put this in. He was about to do something as serious as taking someone’s life. The moral implications of it had hit Nagisa before, but at that moment, poison in one hand and cup right in the other, he felt a little insecure about it all.
Of course, he’d thought about the getting caught thing. He made extra sure the poison he got wouldn’t be found when the body was examined. From what he gathered, it would make it seem like the victim had internal bleeding by unknown causes, he’d simply just succumbed to them in the coffee shop.
Nagisa wouldn’t be blamed. Sure, he was the last person to talk to Karma and he’d be questioned, but no one would have any reason to believe he did anything. He and Karma weren’t even in any other relationship other than customer and barista. Why would Nagisa want to kill him? If he was a suspected serial killer, sure, there’d be a reason. He’d be seen like a psychopath.
He wasn’t though, a psychopath. He felt empathy. He felt guilt, at that exact moment even. But some other feeling was stronger than that guilt. It might have edged on curiousity, but mostly it was bloodlust. Everyone had different ways of channeling through their negative energy.
It’s not like anyone would miss an annoying bureaucrat who was apparently so friendless he spent everyday of his life coming to the same coffee shop to flirt with the same barista. No one would miss such a weirdo.
In another universe the two could have been friends. In this one, Nagisa was going to kill Karma.
The vile was in the cup and before he knew it he put it under the machine and started to finish the drink. When it was done it looked and smelt normal. It was overly sweet and could barely be called coffee. Nagisa was a little proud of himself, this really seemed to be working.
He got his tray and walked over to Karma with his drink. “There you go, one chocolate mocha latte.” Nothing about his voice sounded unusual, even if his mind was racing. The other thanked him and before he could make another comment Nagisa excused himself because he did have to go back to work. He promised they could talk later, but Nagisa knew that wasn’t happening.
As he was cleaning and making some drinks for Kayano’s customers behind the counter, he sneaked several glances in Karma’s direction. He made sure to only look when he knew Karma wasn’t, he wasn’t about to be caught acting strange. He just really wanted to see what happened.
And then the moment came. He heard a noise coming from Karma’s table, somewhat distressed and in pain. Nagisa looked up to see Karma grabbing at his chest. He’d gained the attention from several customers around him.
When he didn’t stop with the painful act one customer stood up to ask him if he was okay. Karma didn’t let out any words. The customer looked back at the people at his table and started to ask for his phone, obviously trying to be responsible and call for an ambulance. Before he could Karma suddenly collapsed.
Within seconds there was a mass panic in the shop. People got up out of their seats and moved out of the way, all while staring at the man on the floor. The man who’d walked up to him before apparently had some kind of adrenaline kick and kept helping the other.
He yanked his coat off of a chair and used it to lay Karma’s head on. One of his friends rushed to his side and helped him get Karma in the right position. Eventually the second man checked the passed out person’s wrist and suddenly turned white.
“No pulse” was all he said. Nagisa heard a high pitched gasp from beside him. Kayano. Of course she hadn’t come in to work that morning expecting to see someone die. She wasn’t in the same boat as Nagisa.
Nagisa, who had previously broken the small glass bottle and made sure to throw it away in the wrong trash can, so no one would go look for it. Nagisa, who’s eyes flashed to the coffee cup Karma had been drinking from earlier and who felt a tinge of pride making his heart flutter. Nagisa, who seemingly had no regrets about the current situation.
He held a fake shocked expression on his face as he stared at the collapsed customer. Everyone around him did the same, some still bending over him and one customer even calling the emergency number. Nagisa held his hand in front of his mouth, he knew he wasn’t about to ruin things and smile over what just happened but it couldn’t hurt to be sure. Something in him wanted to smile, however.
He really just killed him.

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ Match-up ♥
hiya! could i get a magi and a free! matchup please, and could i be kept anonymous? thank you! ^^ sorry if this is badly written, this is my first time doing something like this ^^;
I’m a Taurus and ISTP-T! I’m mostly introverted unless I’m with people I know well like my friends, though sometimes I do struggle with chatting and spending time with family because of conflicting interests, and I worry too much about how people would judge me based on my interests. I’m absolutely horrible at small talk so keeping a proper conversation with anyone other than my closest friends is hard for me, especially in person, similarly I prefer texting over talking because then I have more time to consider a reply >.<
I often worry a lot about people’s impressions of me, and about giving the wrong “vibe”,, e.g I find typing all formally without emoticons and outside of my own style to be uncomfortable because I don’t like coming off as more serious than I actually am! I also feel insecure easily, more so around people that I’ll see again, like family friends or classmates/coworkers.
Around people I’m comfortable with I’m generally childish, and laugh easily. I like to think I’m quite creative, and I enjoy drawing and writing, especially writing for other people as I really like making my friends happy, it feels really gratifying for me when I get to see them smile, especially after I’ve surprised them with something they didn’t expect me to do.
I’m not particularly good with empathy, I find it much easier to try and provide a solution to someone’s problem rather than provide emotional support because I struggle with it and I don’t want to mess up and say the wrong thing. I also find it easier to try and cheer someone up than sympathize with them. I dislike being told what to do, and being told that my opinions are wrong and I should have a different opinion on something instead. I also tend to stay away from heavy and serious topics a lot of the time, as I fear responsibility, especially the responsibility that things such as politics or environmental issues would bring. My mood changes easily and I try to keep away from things that will make me overly upset, or it could ruin my mood for quite a while. I get lonely easily but I’m more accustomed to being on my own, as I find it easier to be alone rather than spend a lot of time with people resulting in feeling sad and upset when it’s over. I don’t find talking about my own emotions or problems easy because I’m almost constantly worried that I could be being too much of an attention hog, or making too many things about myself.
I have a short attention span and get easily distracted by other things, especially when watching films or long videos with other people. I find it hard to sit still for long periods of time, especially when I’m not doing anything, and when I’m watching a show or film on my own I like to draw or scrapbook to keep my hands preoccupied. I also prefer to listen to music a lot because I find silence too distracting. I’m also bad at indulging myself in other people’s interests; even if it’s something I might very well like, taking that first step into watching something or listening to something that someone else has asked me to try is often quite hard for me. I struggle at keeping/doing things consistently and would rather do things at a pace I’ve decided for myself. However on the contrary when I really like something, like when I’m in a fandom, I can be very passionate about it and like to talk to close people I trust about whatever fandom or hobby I’m currently preoccupied with!
I dislike violence and serious arguments, and try to remove myself from a situation when I can tell it’s going bad. I panic easily, especially in situations like that, and would much rather distance myself from it and find out what happened later, than stay and experience it for myself.
Appearance wise, I’m around 5'6, with long straight blonde hair and blue eyes. I wear glasses and mostly casual clothes, although wearing more colorful or “prettier” clothes makes me happier, but also at the same time wearing them can also make me feel insecure depending on my mood prior or who I’m spending time with. I don’t wear makeup very often.
i hope that was alright! as i said it’s my first time doing something like this and i just tried to write about everything about myself that came to mind ^^;
I struggle at keeping/doing things consistently and would rather do things at a pace I’ve decided for myself.

𝐼 𝓈𝒽𝒾𝓅 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝓌𝒾𝓉𝒽...
Tumblr media
Nagisa would be so cute with you! Seeing as he is kind of your opposite in some sense, he an make you see stuff that you haven’t really seen before! You’re an introvert, he is an extrovert, but can also be an introvert; he can follow along with someone’s energy levels really well, so he could really make you feel comfortable in that aspect. He talks forever, and doesn’t know when to stop so, if you don’t like small talk, that’s fine, he’ll just talk to you and you can listen! Sometimes it can go into deeper conversations, or he will just listhings about his day that he thought were interesting! But he will need someone to listen to him, which I think you’d be perfect for!
He’ll understand the impression part really well! Nagisa is one to feel insecure too, with how people judge him and such; he is very insecure too, he just hides better than most. But he can make you comfortable with yourself, help you feel like you can be childish with him, seeing as he is childish himself! He wants to see you laugh around him so he will everything in his power to make you feel so comfortable, and when he does, he will be the happiest man in the world!
You aren’t good with empathy and that is totally okay! Because Nagisa will pick up the slack and be empathetic for the both of you! Nagisa isn’t the type of guy to think that there is something with wrong for wanting to solve a problem and keep emotions out of the way, in fact, he’ll think it is pretty admirable of you, since he could never do that! Nagisa is okay with they you are, in the aspect that you don’t want to talk about yourself all the much. He’ll understand the need for privacy and will respect that! He will listen to music with you if you don’t want to talk or listen to him talk, and he’ll just hang out with you and not say anything if you feel like you want to be alone, but not actually alone. It’s like you’ll have a supportive shadow!
Nagisa is also one to not sit still for very long, so he’ll definitely understand the need for you to move around while you do other things! And while you both watch a show or a movie, he will be right next to you, holding a pillow either watching wha tis from of him, or watching you draw! He’ll think it is quite cute that you need to do something to keep your hands busy. And even sometimes he’ll sneak his hands into yours so you can fiddle with them instead! He’ll talk to you about things that you are interested in, see if you are still passionate about them and he will excitedly listen to you, a smile on his face when you talk passionately about something that you are currently obsessed with! He will be a very supportive boyfriend inside and out!
Ngisa also dislikes violence, he’d rather have everyone be nice and peaceful with each other without having the need for violence. He’ll try to appease you though when there is a fight, and try to understand your side of the argument, or if you are a third party that doesn’t want to be a part of it, he will definitely follow you to a more quiet area.
Nagisa will love anything you wear, from pretty clothes to more comfortable ones. He will complimenting on most anything from your hair to your eyes, to your smile, literally everything. He will like your hair, will want to touch constantly; a little skinship that he will do unconsciously. He will be okay with you either wearing makeup or not, he just wants you to feel comfortable in his presence!
Tumblr media
Okay! I picked Sinbad for you because I feel that you and him would be make a very cute couple, because he is mature and you are mature, but both of you will know how to have a good time with the other! Sinbad isn’t one for small talk either, he only does it because he someone people look up and he needs to keep a facade, but don’t worry. The only thing Sinbad will ever want to talk about is what you want to talk about! So that you are comfortable and happy!
Sinbad will the type to notice when you are trying your best to appease another person “vibe” wise, and when you are actually being yourself! And when he sees you being childish and fun and just overall comfortable with whoever you are talking to, he will strive to be the same! He will want you to act like that around him too, see he will do anything in his power to make you feel secure with him! Because he doesn’t want you to force yourself, like you do with other people you are not sure about! He’ll want to be one of those people that you write for, or do things for, so he can see you be happy that he is happy! He wants you to be happy no matter what! No matter how!
Sinbad would be a bit more empathetic than you, but he will be completely understanding when it comes to solving a problem without the need for emotions, he will understand that you have a harder than most expressing emotions. And being who he is, sometimes, Sinbad has to do the same thing, so he will be very supportive in that aspect! He will want you feel like you can be yourself around him, he will want you to feel like you can have your opinion when you are with him. He will want you to be you, not some fake persona that you put on so you can talk to other people without difficulties, no, he will want to converse with the you that is real.
He will want to be the person that has a short attention person, the person who will having to do five things at once, which he will think is utterly adorable; Sinbad will want to watch you to stuff like draw or write or fiddle with stuff that are in your hands because he thinks it’s intriguing, you are intriguing to him! He will want to listen to you talk about the things the you are passionate about, the things that you love, because eventually he will want to get them for you. Ir just listen to you talk for hours on end about stuff that you are obsessed, since you just don’t a lot in general.
Sinbad also dislikes violence to some degree, but will also use violence as a way to get what he wants, but in overall, he’d rather have peace than violence. So, he will do anything to make sure that there is no violence near you or in front of you, so that you can feel comfortable with him!
Appearance wise, Sinbad will know that you are quite the looker! He is more into the physical aspects of his partner than Nagisa is, but it will always come down to personality. But! He will like how you like form your hair to your smile to your body, every part of it he will love! And will learn to love, because that’s just who he is! Someone who will do their best for the person they want to spend the of his life with you! The one he loves!

Run Devil Run [Chapter One] Digging Up Bones [Karma Akabane]
Tumblr media
“Just look at you; undeniably flawless. Don’t you agree?”
Yukie stared at her reflection in a full body mirror, pivoting her slim hips from side to side – the wispy fabric of the skirt glided with her movement and brushed against her knees. Without question, she was gorgeous, but this kind of thing was not her style.
“I like it,” she replied politely. Honestly she did. The short flutters sleeves on the blouse made her appear rather girly, but the ensemble was cute and rather fashionable. She certainly didn’t have anything this nice in her closet at home. With one final pivot, Yukie glanced over and smiled at the pretty woman beside her. “Thank you for allowing me to model it for you, Miss Shiota. I think you’ll look very casual in this.”
Hiromi laughed softly. “It’s not for me, but I certainly am grateful for the compliment. Actually … I wanted you to have it. Nagisa can’t wear it, and since I so wanted a daughter, I kept it.”
“I couldn’t possibly,” Yukie argued. “It’s very pretty and must have cost a lot. Accepting it would make me feel bad.” She bit her tongue between her teeth once she saw the woman frown. This wasn’t the first time she’d seen Hiromi turn dark – it mostly occurred whenever Nagisa chose to defy her. Zany, black swirls consumed her eyes, and Yukie knew she had to defuse the situation before it became much worse for her.
Faking a smile, the buoyant teenager pivoted her hips once again. “Oh but I really do like it. If you’re sure I can have it, I’ll gladly accept.”
Again Hiromi laughed. She lifted her arms and wrapped them around Yukie’s shoulders. “Consider it yours. It’s the least I can do for someone like you; someone from A class who is nice enough to acknowledge Nagisa. I only hope your determination will rub off him.”
“We’re neighbors, so I really don’t mind at all. Besides, Nagisa is a good friend. He helps me with homework whenever I need it.”
“So modest,” Hiromi chirped. She gently hugged the honest girl, then released her, taking a few steps back to look her over once again. “I shouldn’t interrupt you two then. Go back to studying and help my Nagisa do better. I’ll be in the kitchen if you need me.”
Yukie bobbed her head in agreement and followed Hiromi from her room, moving hastily down the hall towards Nagisa’s room. She was there earlier, before the eager woman pulled her away, but to be polite, she knocked on the door anyway. With his consent, she moved inside and shut the door behind her.
“That was a long bathroom break,” Nagisa joked. He eyed the new outfit and frowned. “Hey, I’m really sorry about my mom. She’s really persistent sometimes.”
“It’s no problem. If not me then you.”
Nagisa shuttered at this. “There’s no way I’d pull that outfit off. The neckline is too low and I don’t have the chest to fill it out. But I’m surprised … you look mature with it on.”
Yukie puffed out her cheeks and placed her hands on her hips. “I always look mature. You’re so mean, Nagisa.”
He paled, “I didn’t mean it like that. It’s just … no one has ever seen you in a dress before. Honestly, it’s kind of weird.”
She agreed; it was weird. Most of the time Yukie wore shorts, even to school – they of course were dress code appropriate. She was a tomboy, so anything other than her usual made her feel uncomfortable. Dresses and skirts never bothered her, but raised by two fathers, she never experienced what it was like to be a girl; she learned to pitch a ball before she learned to put on eyeliner. Huffing a sigh, Yukie leaned against the door. “I’m not mad, you know? Even I don’t recognize myself like this.”
“It doesn’t suit you,” Nagisa stated. “I think you look nice, but you being you is much better.” She made him feel less nervous when she dressed boyish. Seeing her in a dress or a skirt only brought him unease; it made him realize that he was close friends with a cute girl. His face warmed up, but he ignored it and cleared his throat.
“Are you planning on staying late?”
Yukie again bobbed her head. “Math is my worst subject. I honestly don’t think I’ll understand the lesson in just a few hours. Why do you ask?”
“Just thought you’d feel more comfortable in shorts,” he answered.
“Is this an offer? Because I’d love to borrow some clothes.” Yukie clapped her hands in front of herself and begged him, puckering her lips.
The gracious teen agreed and let her have free reign of his closet. She often did this whenever she came over – borrowed his clothes – because she said that Nagisa had the snuggest outfits. He kept his back turned as she searched the hangers. Yukie didn’t have much shame when it came to changing in front of people, but Nagisa never dared to look. Still, it was hard to ignore the fact she was naked behind him, and he was in fact a male. To keep his mind busy, he thought back to why Yukie had come to visit him; he’d asked her for help on his homework. It seemed much easier to have someone tutor him in science, then try to understand it himself.
“Hey … Yukie.” He waited for the lively girl to respond to his call before continuing. “Thanks for this. You didn’t have to tutor me, you know?”
She puckered her brow as she slipped on a T-shirt with a shoreline and palm trees on it. Did she hear him right? “What was that?” Yukie gathered her previous outfit and stepped out, sitting in a clear spot on the floor beside the blue haired teen.
Nagisa gave her a nervous look. “I said you didn’t have to help me out, but thank you for accepting.”
“As if I wouldn’t,” she said. Her blue eyes narrowed. “We’re friends, Nagisa. You know that, right?”
“I do.”
Sometimes he wished he’d never met her though. She risked her reputation at school by socializing with him. Nagisa didn’t want her to be ostracized by her friends, but Yukie seemed not to mind. She once claimed that she enjoyed his company, so Nagisa chose not to push his worries on her, not today anyway. He forced a soft smile and picked up his worksheet, handing it off to her.
“I need help with this; science is my worst subject.”
Yukie took a glance at the paper. It focused mainly on questions relative to general science, but some A-level questions were written on it too. She found it strange that unlike her worksheets, his were hand written. It wasn’t something she was use to seeing a teacher do.
“This Korosensei must be one heck of a teacher. He added the major branches of science to your worksheet and even suggested what reading material you should review. It’s amazing that he took the time to do this for you.”
“He does this for everyone,” Nagisa replied. It was interesting to see just how excited Yukie had become with this. If only she knew the truth about his homeroom teacher. He was sure that she’d be stunned. “He’s a really good teacher.”
She pouted. “I wish my homeroom teacher was this nice. Guess I should let my grades drop, so that I can join you in E Class.”
“I wouldn’t suggest that, but you’d like him.” This brought another memory to mind; one that Nagisa wasn’t sure Yukie would want to hear, but needed to. He cleared his throat and just blurted it out. “Karma is back, you know? He got dropped to E Class with me.”
Yukie frowned, staring down at the worksheet between her fingers. She tried to seem impassive, but part of her was happy that his suspension was over. They parted on bad terms. It left her feeling guilty.
Faking a smile, Yukie pulled herself onto her feet and stretched. “You know what this study group needs? Snacks and cold drinks. Do you have any in the kitchen?”
“Sorry, no. Mom doesn’t usually buy junk food,” Nagisa answered. He knew what she was doing, but also knew that she probably didn’t want to talk about Karma. “But there’s a store right down the road. We can go there and buy some.”
“I’ll go,” Yukie offered. “I could use the exorcise.” Honestly, she was afraid that Nagisa would bring up Karma again, and she really wasn’t in the mood to dig up bones.
Hesitantly, the blue haired teen agreed and helped split the cost with her – his mom let him keep the extra yen from his last run to the market. He watched her stuff the money into her shorts and leave. Nagisa truly felt bad for making her uneasy.
Successfully making it out of the apartment undetected, Yukie rushed down the first set of steps, counting fifteen as she did. The second flight led to the ground floor and onto the sidewalk. It had a smooth, metal railing that Nagisa and she often slid down whenever they were running late for school. She took it without a second thought, loving the adrenaline rush it gave her.
The landing she stuck with ease, falling into a quick walk as she moved out onto the street. Her mind was racing with so many thoughts – mainly about what kind of snacks she was going buy – that she almost failed to catch the sudden flash of a camera as it went off near her face.
Yukie shut her eyes out of habit, then squeezed them tight. When the bright spots were clear from her vision, she glanced over to the person who took her picture and gasped in surprise.
“Karma, what are you doing here?”
The bright haired teen smiled. “What’s with that look? Thought you’d be happy to see me.” His menacing gold eyes widened in liveliness. “I see; you are. I’m flattered.”
Before she was able to reply, he interrupted her again. “Hold on a second” – he paused to snap another picture of her – “That’s a good one.”
Yukie felt her heart thump in her chest as Karma stepped around her, taking more pictures. Her cheeks warmed up, hearing him whistle. She was honestly unsure of what to say, much less of what to do. He was embarrassing her.
He moved back in front of her and stared at the screen, puckering his brow. “You know … that shirt looks strangely familiar. I feel like I’ve see it before.” Widening his eyes again, he smiled – Yukie was rather cute when she blushed.
“I borrowed it from Nagisa,” the timid girl spoke. For some reason she felt like she shouldn’t have told him this; his smile only seemed to broaden. “Why are you h-here? You don’t even live down this street.”
“Can’t I take a stroll whenever I want to? I happened to just be passing by when I noticed you coming down the stairs, so I waited. What makes you think I want something?”
Yukie frowned; she really didn’t want to go down this road with him. It wasn’t going to end in her favor. “Just leave me alone, Karma. I told you before that I was sorry.” She bit her tongue between her teeth as he moved closer and wrapped an arm over her shoulders.
“Oh, I’m not mad about that anymore … but you should be more careful the next time you go out. If someone from your precious A Class were to catch you socializing with an E Class student, they might cast you out.”
Liar.
He meant to pay her back for what she did.
Karma turned his phone and lined them up for a picture, tugging her closer so that he could lean his cheek against her head.
“Now say, Karma is a bitch.”

Ayesha Liveblogs Free! S3
I will never get tired of Makoto offering Haru a hand out of the water
OMG I guess some things do change Makoto’s been dunked and I kinda love it
“I’m never gonna be a normal person” wow who is this this Goth Diet Haru
I love the phrase “hot minute” actually thank u for ur teen slang Asahi
Offering people his lecture notes and texting back right away will anyone ever be as good as Makoto? Trick question no
“I’m still young and innocent” “That’s a weird thing to say” I love that Haru’s meeting a bunch of people who aren’t used to his antics
This flashback seems to indicate that Haru felt Some Kinda Way about Ikuya which is weird because they look almost the same
“Don’t worry too much about the family” LMAO Sosuke has received a blessing from his cousin to follow Rin to Australia
“Just inferior copies of Ikuya” that’d be more meaningful if Ikuya had done anything other than stare broodingly
It’s telling that the Iwatobi team is dressed like the Wiggles in this outro
All this outro really told me is that they aren’t really that good at differentiating main character design
“We have to try not to spoil them too much” I approve of Ikuya’s brother and his co-parenting buddy
“I’m not going to move ever again,” said Asahi, with the full confidence of a twelve-year-old boy who knows absolutely nothing about anything
Okay but for real Ikuya and Haru straight up look like siblings this weird rivalry energy on top of that fact is a little bit Much
[Rose and Rosie voice] It’ll never work out their hair is the same colour
“Is Haru the guy who was all dressed up and riding a camel in the recruiting video we saw?” UNBELIEVABLE their Arabian Nights outro from S1 was actually their recruitment video Iwatobi do u take constructive criticism
“I’ll even be good enough to compete against you” how many rivals does one young man really need my god
Hey Trenchcoat Man maybe introduce yourself before telling these teens how to live their lives
Dude you’re so controlling trying to prevent Ikuya from seeing his friends
Ahhhhh I love Haru being in touch with his emotions and apologizing to Ikuya tbh I give Makoto and Rin a lot of the credit for his ability to communicate lmao
“I’d prefer you didn’t keep him too long” listen I get where you might be coming from since Haru hurt Ikuya’s feelings but also stop that
“Thought I’d give you a wake-up call” I really don’t like the vibe of Hiyori
“Japanese guy! Friend of yours, maybe?” An accurate representation of what it’s like to hang out with white people lmao
There’s a different vibe from a teenager who giggles about swimmers’ muscles to an adult swim coach who is coaching swimming at a university giggling about swimmers’ muscles put that away Mikhail
Hiyori gives me the straight up heebie jeebies every time he opens his mouth
I can’t read Japanese but I have to assume Rin was gonna call Haru and reminisce about their bed sharing night lmao
Natsuya is some kinda Swimming Capitalist Nomad I’m not mad about it
“How many of these dreams do you have?” that’s valid lmao Rin has #calledout for being a rival slut
“His face told me that what matters most to him is not here” I can’t tell if this is a reference to Ikuya or to Natsuya’s white-haired rival-friend-boyfriend-probably
You know what, in the context of this show: Boyfriend
“Hey, calm down. Listen, Archerfish--” HARU PLS
I don’t know Misae but the fact she calls her boyfriend Archerfish has already won me over
Hiyori would you fucking stop interfering this isn’t fair to Ikuya
“Ikuya’s too busy to waste his time reminiscing on childish things” well that should be Ikuya’s decision shouldn’t it like not 2 get 2 real but this is all the markers of an abusive relationship if someone does this to you please tell someone
God this stubbly weird man and his ominous advice STILL without any introduction
“I’m getting sick of hearing you speak for Ikuya like you’re his damn boss” ME TOO ASAHI
YOU CANNOT DECIDE WHO IKUYA’S FRIENDS ARE HIYORI YOU ABSOLUTE SHITPRETZEL
HA Ikuya knows you’ve been giving the boys the runaround fuckweasel
“If I swim with Tono, maybe it’ll help me understand him” Makoto coming after jerks with his best weapon: empathy <3
“People you swim with all seem to end up suffering, don’t they” LISTEN YOU ASSBANANA IT’S NOT HARU’S FAULT THAT PEOPLE GET OBSESSED WITH HIM HE’S JUST A GOOD SWIMMER
Omg I enjoy the drama of Sosuke interacting with the one (1) person in Japan who has seen Rin lately
“I have to admit, I’m a little disappointed there isn’t a single pudgy person here” like I know this is probably gonna be a running gag for their opposite body preferences but it’s also a self-burn for the creators of this show only drawing different scales of one body type
I really do love that Rei is swim team captain now my boy has come so far
Oh Romio is there anyone in this swim universe that doesn’t have some kind of Traumatizing Swim Experience
“Think about what your reason for jumping in is” Sosuke’s advice sounds like beautiful nonsense I don’t know how that’s supposed to help him concentrate on start times
Lmao I love this Overbearing Friend Gesture of Shizuru and Nagisa putting seaweed on Romio and Rei’s plates without asking kjhfkghfghfk
“Actually, if you don’t mind, we have a proposition” $500 says that Nagisa and Rei are about to propose a relay race
Update from 8 minutes later: Someone owes me $500
“Can you tell how proud I am?” Natsuya is such a good big brother <3
Hahahaha “a guy he wants to swim with again some day” Natsuya is also a good wingman for Rin lmao
Based on his inner monologue Sosuke should also be a swimming coach except in the vein of Cryptic Trench Coat Stubble Man who just offers random unsolicited advice to any teenage swimmer he passes by in the street
“I’m so proud of you” jgjhgjhg Shizuru I love you and your tears for Romio
What kind of child welfare laws are there in Japan that Hiyori’s parents were allowed to just leave him alone in the park
“When I saw [Haru] again, the weakness I thought I left behind came flooding back to me” the moral of this story is that competitive swimming makes you gay
Ikuya used to be fun and sweet lmao what made you so broody my dude
Lmao @ Hiyori being mad that Ikuya thinks of Haru as his Prince Eric instead of him
Wow I love Nao being a guiding force for this group of nerds
“I’m not hearting anything for you” Asahi understands Stranger Danger
It took Ryuji a solid six eps to even get a name u’d expect him to have a more important character connection than Rin’s Swim Coach’s Rival
“Then you should start swimming other stuff” I Love Misaki, Adopted Child of Haru and Makoto
Well this wistful playground vibe has taken a strange turn
“It’s none of your damn business okay!!” TONO JUST GOT DUMPED HA
KJGHKJGH THE RAGE IN HARU’S VOICE ABOUT THE MACKEREL
Ryuji: He can just buy me dinner or something. I’m not picky. As long as it’s not mackerel
Haru [through gritted teeth]: I’m ready when you are
AH I LOVE KISUMI AND ASAHI BABYSITTING TSUKUSHI
“After all we’ve been through, why does it have to be like this?” U MADE IT LIKE THIS HIYORI
HAHAHAHAH Makoto and Ryuji had a standoff of wills and Ryuji lost
“Maybe it’s time for you to approach things more seriously” Nao has declared it’s time to stop sowing your wild oats and settle down Natsuya
Kazuma only shows up to remind Sosuke he is free to run away to swim whenever
“Hope you’re well” “Hey relax I’m not your dad” [Natsuya immediately begins acting like their dad]
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH GO HARU LEADING HIS CATEGORY
“I don’t think he’s all that bad of a guy” that’s Stockholm Syndrome Ikuya
I’m glad Ikuya is finally fucking having a meaningful conversation with his friends
“In the water I’m alone. No one’s gonna save me” Get therapy Ikuya!!!
Wow Haru joining a race purely to have an Emotional Confrontation with Ikuya is some kinda growth I’m just not sure what exactly
“That guy’s the only one anyone ever talks about” to be fair if your sample size is Iwatobi swimmers they are all a little in love with him
“That’s our BOYYYYYYYYYY” Aw Asahi <3
Ghjkghk I love Makoto teasing Haru for being Ikuya’s hero
“Oh, you’re wise now?” AWWWW Ikuya is fun again good for him
I know that Ikuya reaching out in friendship to Hiyori is supposed to be a sign of emotional security but I haven’t forgiven him for the way he’s manipulated Ikuya!!! Ur a seawitch not a Prince Eric!!! >:((((
I’m super thrown about them going straight from the qualifiers to the next race what will the last four episodes of this season be about
“I’ve been giving myself pep talks in the mirror. ‘I am a genius. I am a genius.’” HAHAHAHA I LIKE FUN IKUYA
“Looks like you beat me” “Just in free” Haru has released Ikuya into the universe for Hiyori and I don’t like it (for Ikuya’s sake) but that’s how it be I guess
How many siblings are there in the Mikoshiba family lmao there’s a new one every season
“But gender doesn’t mean anything in a competition” I like u Lady Mikoshiba
“You mean you were Russian this whole time??” this is a lot to digest
I LOVE RIN’S PUDGY CAT STEVE LOL IS IT THE SAME IN JAPANESE
“The water likes you. I can tell” ALBERT PLS, Haru is already FULL-UP on homoerotic swim relationships
It’s killing me that they keep cutting to Makoto like Haru’s cheating on him though
Not to undermine the subplot of these last three episodes but hasn’t Haru... lost races before hgkjhgk
“I thought something soft and cute would help balance out that scary face of yours” omg STOP this cuteness
Gghkhgk these flashbacks and Rin crying over Sosuke’s surgery are SO cute I never thought I would feel so proud of Rin way back in S1 he’s grown so much!!
Makoto being surrounded by ladybugs and butterflies like a wholeass Disney Prince
WHY are ALL of these swimming weirdos SOMEONE’S UNCLE
“You’re still as weird as ever, Haru’s the exact same way” I should start tracking how long in a conversation it takes characters to bring up Haru
Gnjghkjhg Makoto gets through to Haru in 0.5 seconds after two weeks of him ignoring his own coach. The power of fish metaphors and Love™
Kinda seems like they are setting it up like Makoto will also get to travel the world for swimming and let me say... I’m not mad about it
Update from like 2 minutes later: I WAS RIGHT
“That’s the evil king who wanted the magic lamp” the Arabian Nights references kill me every time
Djkhdkjhd Ryuji labelling Mikhail in his phone as “Muscle Freak” that’s tru friendship
“You should say, ‘I’m totes hip with the kids, yo’” Ryuji pls
“You’re so cute, you must be Iwatobi’s famous Kou” KHGKHGKJHKJ 3/3 MIKOSHIBA KNOCKOUT KOU
Awwwww Rei is so nervous for nationals my sweet baby boy
I ADORE that Rin and Haru are literally running across the city right before their most important meet bc they want to see their friends swim
Rrgjhgr the one and only backstory in this show is former childhood friends and it applies to every single character
OMG Rei get his own flashback but with his boy Nagisa I love it
“I think he’d make a good rival for you actually” Makoto Tachibana: Rival Matchmaker
GOOD JOB BOYS U DID GOOD (ALSO TEAM PHOTO I WEEP)
“Try not to cry when I beat you” SOSUKEEEEEEEEEE
Wow this final episode is already clutching at my heart right out of the gate baby Haru 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Makoto letting four more boys pile into his one bedroom for the night bc he’s the Best Boy Alive
HJGHJKGH THIS EXCHANGE
Mikhail: That’s what I call ‘totes hip with the kids’
Nearby youths: [Giggling]
Mikhail: [Soft indignant gasp] Ryuji!!
Natsuya and Ikuya have the cutest sibling relationship gjkghk THEY
The theme of this season is people hugging each other and crying over the lanes and I LOVE THAT 4 THEM
Rin and Haru and Makoto........... are good boys
“What is this, some kind of teen drama” that is exactly it, Rin
“He won’t stop talking about stupid crap like friendship and bonds” I love three (3) boys
Tumblr media
Bonus: Out of Order Liveblog of Free! Take Your Marks + S3E0
Haru dropping his pants in Makoto’s apartment without the immediate context of them being near water was the most high stakes moment in this entire anime I had no idea where that was going
Haru leaving his apartment hunting until the day before he moves: Mood
Sidenote: Makoto and Haru going apartment hunting is domestic as HELL I love it
“The two of you are inseparable, huh?” “We’re friends, deal with it.” Let people be gay Kisumi
Lmao @ Nagisa and Rei’s yoga pose video Iwatobi is the cutest swim team in the world
“Then one day even those tears will dry out in the Tokyo desert” who hurt you, Ms. Amakata
“Allow me to welcome you to Tokyo, the city where love and lust intertwine” Free! Love and Lust could really be a subtitle of this anime lmao
“I’m talking about the whole bunkbed situation, you know, top and bottom” lmao shout-out to Sloane for that one art
I love the wordless communication between Makoto and Haru (and for that matter, Sosuke and Rin) I’m so glad they worked things out
I’m also happy Rin and Kou are cool now they used to have quite a gap
“Rin wasn’t that honest with himself” rjghg Rin and Haru miss each other
“This is the one,” said Haru, next to Makoto, His Completely Platonic Best Friend Who Dreams About Them Sharing An Apartment and Dropping Trou
I LOVE STEVE THE FAT CAT. AN ICON. A BEAUTY. CHUNKY BABY
“The treasure is inside the red shark’s mouth” there is DEFINITELY a Rin joke to be made here and the writers knew it

“What were you about to ask” “Oh, not anything important (I’ll wait for you Sosuke)”
OHHHHHHHHHH THE CHARM BACKSTORY SOSUKEEEEEEEEEE
Oh Christ alive am I about to watch the Arabian Nights recruitment film
Hhhgjgjhg I gather the only reason Haru got his license was to compete with Rin
“I’m the evil king who is after the lamp for his own selfish reasons” I hate this... but also... I love this???
“I am a mysterious peddler. I travel carrying mysterious bundles. While riding atop of my mysterious partner Chappy the Camel” HARU STOP
OH MAKOTO HONEY U POOR SOUL JHGKHFKJGH
“Makoto. When I’m nervous I think about mackerel” I am going to expire
“I think the three of you should implement your own version of it” Fhjkhgk Haru is telling them to exploit their bodies for school recruitment but also that’s not really anything new so fair enough
Nagisa: Rei is Perfect Killer Muscles Handsome in my heart!!!!!!
“Maybe I’m never going to understand him” Omg @ The Jilted Middle School Exes of Haru Club
“How David had to give up his love.... And then Veronica, knowing they couldn’t see each other anymore” call me crazy but I think Rin is projecting his own issues onto A Rat’s Life LMAO
Tjehjkhkje Sosuke needing to call Rin bc he got lost on his way to the bathroom... Useless Husband Energy
HAHAH Rin is so upset thinking Momo and Kou are dating
At least Rin recognizes that he doesn’t get to decide who Kou dates he can only express his approval or disapproval
“Momotaru Mikoshiba is a man who lives by passion” gjhgjhg stop this
“Rin would never lose to a persimmon, ever!” MAKOTO R U OK
“You are not less than a persimmon!” THESE BOYS. U R SO DUMB BUT ALSO GET U A FRIEND LIKE THE IWATOBI SWIM CLUB
“It’s cool if you need to cry” “If you stay in the pool no one will ever notice your tears” I LOVE SOSUKE AND HARU TEAMING UP TO TEASE RIN
I also deeply appreciate that even though I’ve never heard their Japanese voices I know exactly who is saying what line in this outro just by dialogue and tone of voice
+
“I have a crippling fear of mascot costumes” “Then why did you take this job” kjhgkjhgkjh if that isn’t a work mood
Wait... if Makoto is going to be the substitute wrestler... WILL HARU BE THE SUBSTITUTE MASCOT AHHHHHHHH
WAIT NO I HAVE GRAVELY AND HILARIOUSLY MISUNDERSTOOD MAKOTO IS GOING TO BE BOTH MASCOT AND WRESTLER
“Iwa means ‘boulder’ and ‘tobi’ means ‘black kite’ so it’s a boulder-headed bird!!” Well that’s more of an explanation for the appearance of the Iwatobi mascot than I ever expected, Nagisa
“You don’t have a crippling fear of mascot costumes, do you?” No but I have feeling Makoto is about to develop one
Oh it’s THIS FUCKPUDDLE who asked u to be here Hiyori
“I don’t exactly hate it” high praise Ikuya lmao
Thkjhtkjh I love Natsuya’s long distance relationship it’s sweet

Also I don’t know how Makoto was planning to hide his identity after he was addressed as “Mr. Tachibana”
LMAO @ MAKOTO BEING RECOGNIZED BY HIS LEG MUSCLES I’M SCREAMING
“Hey Makoto, use a backstroke!!” HARU PLEASE
“Well done, you’ll be a great mascot someday” “Thanks? I think?” This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen and I loved it
Oh my goooood Haru bringing Makoto presents for his siblings.... they have ascended to the college relationship levels of Natsuya and Nao
Man Ikuya could not radiate stronger “leave me alone” vibes
“Wow you boys make a dashing pair” you said it Suit Lady not me

Free! Ships: My Take
So, seeing as how Free! has so many characters, it makes sense that there’d be a good handful of ships that come out of it. I’m here to talk about them. I’ve done this before on my Bleach blog, but unlike in that post, I’m actually going to be talking about all of them in this one. I’ll also let you know if I ship that particular pair or not, because that’s what this post is about. I kind of just want to gush about all the different dynamics in the show, so I’m gonna do that here. I won’t talk about every possible ship that’s out there because that would take forever, but I’ll talk about quite a few. There’s probably gonna be spoilers for everything up until the most recent episode of Free!: Dive to the Future.
I’ll put the TL;DR version in bold. P.S. sorry for using the same pictures as my previous post, but I don’t have the motivation to look for more.
Makoto and Haru (MakoHaru)
Tumblr media
I think this is the most popular ship within the fanbase statistically, right? It makes sense-- Makoto and Haru have the deepest and longest relationship in the show. I think it’s also the strongest relationship, especially now that they’ve moved on to college. There’s something very tender and touching about their interactions with each other. We know that Makoto looks after Haru and has been for years and that Haru would defend and protect Makoto to the ends of the Earth. It’s not a stretch to imagine them as more than friends.
Personally, I don’t ship them as I enjoy watching such a whole and caring friendship, though I don’t fault anyone for seeing more there. I sort of believe that maybe Makoto had more serious feelings at one point in time, but probably not anymore. Though, mostly, I just believe that he’s really amazing friend. They may actually be my favorite relationship on this list, regardless of who I ship.
Rin and Haru (RinHaru)
Tumblr media
This would be the second most popular ship in the fanbase. I’ve heard it said that this anime starts and ends with Rin and Haru, and I pretty much agree with that statement. After all, Haru’s character essentially centered around Rin from the time he met him in grade school to the time they reconciled at the end of season one. It’s the same for Rin. Even now, one of Rin’s primary reasons for swimming competitively is because he wants to keep swimming with Haru.
RinHaru is the only ship I seriously ship in the series. By that, I mean that it’s the only pair that I really do want to see get together in the anime. Whether that happens or not... well, it probably isn’t likely, but nonetheless, I do want it to happen. They’re so passionate about each other, and nothing drives them more than the image of swimming next to each other for as long as they possibly can. I don’t know, I always think of hopeful things when I think of these two.
Nagisa and Rei (Reigisa)
Tumblr media
I have a weird opinion on this ship, I think, but I’ll get to that later. This ship also makes a lot of sense since it was Nagisa who brought Rei into the world of swimming. Other than that, though, they have developed a pretty strong relationship. It’s similar to Makoto and Haru’s, in my opinion, though Rei doesn’t act as as much of mother hen to Nagisa as Makoto does to Haru. They both really care about each other, as can be seen in each of their little storylines during Eternal Summer. Nagisa seemed to be the most hurt that Rei was lying about his whereabouts, and Rei seemed to be the most worried about Nagisa running away from home. I think that their emotions are typically pretty in tune, which is why they make such a good pair.
Here’s the thing, I don’t ship them in the same way that I ship RinHaru, but I totally believe that they’re close enough to be a thing. I mean, if they did get together in the anime, I’d be totally fine with it because I’d be like, “Well, yeah, obviously.” You know? It’s a really weird view on it, I understand, but that’s what I think.
Sousuke and Rin (SouRin)
Tumblr media
This is another fairly popular pairing, I’d assume. Sousuke is Rin’s oldest friend, so I see the appeal of shipping them together since they have so much history. The concern they have for the each other’s well-being and success is pretty incredible. Sousuke clearly wants, more than anything, for Rin to stand on the international stage and fulfill his dream, and Rin really wants Sousuke to recover from his injury so that he can stand on that stage with him as soon as possible. I think the amount of support these two give each other is equal to the support that Makoto and Haru give to each other, but Sousuke and Rin are so intense and passionate about it.
Speaking of Makoto and Haru, I feel the same way about Sousuke and Rin as I do about them. There’s a really resilient friendship between these two that I love. Watching Rin say he wants to swim with Sousuke again one day or seeing Sousuke really happy just because Rin is happy is beautiful to me. All that being said, I can agree with the opinion that Sousuke does have more serious feelings for Rin. I think that could go either way. Bottom line is that Rin and Sousuke’s relationship is one of the best in the series for sure.
Makoto and Sousuke (SouMako)
Tumblr media
I did not understand this ship at all until I watched the Eternal Summer special (which is where basically all their interactions take place). I can’t make a big speech about their deep relationship because they don’t have one, but they are really entertaining together. I think it’s because Sousuke and Haru are so similar that Makoto hanging out with Sousuke seems really natural. We don’t see Sousuke consistently being friendly and getting along with many people besides Rin, but since Makoto is so sweet and disarming, it makes a lot of sense that Sousuke likes him. Plus, Makoto was really worried about Sousuke when he found out about his shoulder and looked like he might cry out of joy when Rin told him that Sousuke’s surgery was a success.
I don’t ship them seriously, but I do ship them. I like the image of them together, though I can’t really say if that’s a romantic thing or not. Maybe they’re a BROtp to me, I don’t know. Either way, I’d sign on for more interactions between these two. At the very least, I can see them chatting once in a while when they get tired of fretting over Rin and Haru.
Hiyori and Ikuya (HiyoIku)
Tumblr media
Ooo, a recent ship! These two met early on in their lives, separated, and met again years later in high school, though Hiyori seemed to be the only one to remember their initial encounter until recently. Something about that is magical to think about, in my opinion. Hiyori is very much the protector in this relationship as he’s been watching out for Ikuya for a long time. It’s clear that Hiyori wants the best for Ikuya, similar to the way that Sousuke feels about Rin. In Dive to the Future, we can see that Ikuya being in pain puts Hiyori in pain as well. Ikuya values his relationship with Hiyori quite a bit, especially lately. We don’t have much information on these two, but I assume we’re going to start seeing something close to Makoto and Haru in the future because that’s sort of what we’ve been getting so far.
I didn’t actively ship them until their fight. During that fight, I actually really did think that their relationship was about to take a romantic direction, or at least that Hiyori was going to confess those types of feelings to Ikuya. I do want them to end up together, though I can’t really say that I ship them seriously like RinHaru. That’s probably because I still think that it might actually happen at one point or another, so I don’t need to ship it seriously. My brain is weird. Whatever the reason, I do ship them, and I can very easily see a romantic future between them.
Makoto and Gou (MakoGou)
Tumblr media
I think the idea with this ship is being able to pair off all the Iwatobi boys with someone, but if you ship RinHaru and Reigisa, where does Makoto go? Gou. Or, I guess there’s always the MakoHaruRin ship, but... we’re getting off track. Makoto and Gou do have a bit of a relationship since she’s the manager and he was the captain of the swim club, so they talked frequently. They’re also both very nice people, so all of their interactions were positive ones. Gou seems to worry about Makoto like she worries about all of the boys, and Makoto seems to respect Gou quite a bit. Whether that’s because he’s a big brother, and he sees Gou as Rin’s little sister or if it’s something more is up for debate.
I don’t really think that I ship them, but they would be super cute together. Maybe I ship them a little. I can’t come up with a conclusive decision on this. Like, I could see that once the anime ends, they flash forward and Gou and Makoto are together. You know? Makoto is definitely the only dude that Rin would willingly let Gou date, at least.
Momo and Gou (MomoGou)
Tumblr media
While we’re on Gou ships, let’s talk about this one. Momo tries really hard, doesn’t he? Every time he sees her, he’s right there, trying to get her attention and affection. It’s kind of cute, too. He seems to be making some kind of progress, right? I mean, she remembers his name now.
I do ship them in a I-really-want-Momo’s-efforts-to-pay-off kind of way. I don’t know that Gou will ever recognize those efforts as she seems kind of oblivious to that stuff, but it’d be nice.
Mikoshiba and Gou (SeiGou)
Tumblr media
These two are pretty much the exact same as Momo and Gou. Mikoshiba has tried to ask Gou out multiple times, but Rin is very protective of her so it never happened. Gou seems to like Mikoshiba well enough, even though she’s oblivious of his advances as well as Momo’s.
I don’t really ship them, though they certainly would look like a power couple. Their interactions are pretty funny, at least, so it’s never boring when they’re together. I don’t really think Mikoshiba is the most appropriate person to be with Gou, though. They’re probably better as they are.
Sousuke and Gou (SouGou)
Tumblr media
Okay, last Gou ship. Well, their ship name rhymes with itself, so that’s cute. These two have known each other as long as Rin and Sousuke have, so they have a similar amount of history, and I think it’s inferred that they also went to middle school together. I think the general consensus is that Sousuke sees Gou as his sister, and I think it’s clear that Gou really likes Sousuke as she worries over him almost as much as she does with Rin.
I do ship these two quite a bit. I think, should they get together, it would be a really sweet relationship. Sousuke does really care about Gou and vise versa, and I can interpret that to be romantic very easily. I don’t think either of them would actively make a move, at least not right now, but I think that they both have very sweet gestures toward the other. More so on Sousuke’s side than Gou’s, but you know.
Asahi and Kisumi (AsaKisu)
Tumblr media
Kisumi seems to know just about everyone, so it makes sense that he’s got a ship with a lot of characters. However, I think that Asahi might be the one that he’s the most overall interactions with, especially now that Kisumi seems to spend a lot of time with Asahi at Asahi’s family restaurant. Asahi was initially annoyed by Kisumi in the beginning, but I think now they have a pretty good relationship. They both probably care about one another, though we don’t have many lengthy scenes with just the two of them to go off of.
Do I ship them? No, I don’t think so, I think I just enjoy them being together because their personalities are cute. Kisumi teasing Asahi and Asahi getting annoyed is adorable. Adorable pretty much describes their entire relationship, actually.
Ikuya and Asahi (AsaIku)
Tumblr media
These two have a bit more of a basis than AsaKisu. They tease each other a lot... or rather, Ikuya teases Asahi a lot. Asahi seems to care about Ikuya a lot, despite how annoyed he gets because of him. In middle school, Asahi was the person that got the most worked up about Ikuya’s glum attitude, and in college, Asahi worried over Ikuya quite a bit. Similarly, Ikuya looks like he values his friendship with Asahi, which can be seen both in Starting Days and Dive to the Future.
I like their friendship a lot, though I don’t really ship them. The quiet concern they seem to show toward each other is lovely, and I enjoy seeing it as well as their other interactions. I do hope to see more of them together in the future.
Haru and Ikuya (IkuHaru)
Tumblr media
The reasoning behind this ship is probably similar to RinHaru. Ikuya and Rin each have similar histories with Haru, so if it’s easy to ship one, it’s probably easy to ship the other. I don’t think Haru and Ikuya have quite the same amount depth in their relationship when compared to Rin and Haru, but they do care about each other very much. Haru inspired Ikuya’s swimming, and you could even say that Haru’s influence is the reason that Ikuya is such a strong swimmer currently. On Haru’s end, he ended up swimming the other three strokes in a tournament just so that he could swim with Ikuya and keep his promise to him. So, clearly there is a lot of emotion between them as well as history.
I think the relationship between Ikuya and Haru is something special. Although I don’t romantically ship them, I do think that they have strong feelings for one another. They both took measures to swim with each other again, and that’s pretty awesome. That seems to be the theme of this anime, actually, but I just love the raw emotion with Ikuya and Haru.
Kisumi and Makoto (KisuMako)
Tumblr media
These two are just a couple handfuls of sunshine. They hang out a lot, especially now that they’re in college, which might be because neither Makoto nor Kisumi swim, so it might be nice for Makoto to have a friend like that. I think one of the bigger things to note about their relationship is that Kisumi seems to trust Makoto quite a bit since he entrusted Makoto to take care of his brother Hayato.
I can see them being super adorable together, but I probably wouldn’t say that I ship them. I definitely see the appeal, though. They’re both very positive people, and I would assume that they can confide in each other about many things. I don’t know, I really like seeing them together, at least.
Natsuya and Nao (Natsunao)
Tumblr media
I feel like we know a lot about the nature of the relationship between these two without having much actual content on it. Nao looks to be the only person that can tame Natsuya’s wild side, and he’s also the only person that Natsuya can really talk to and go to for advice. Natsuya has also been shown to have a large amount of trust in Nao as he let Nao manage Makoto, Haru, Asahi, and Ikuya in middle school. Nao seemed to have a lot of faith in Natsuya’s abilities as a captain as well. Natsuya was also very sad that Nao got sick, presumably because that meant that he wouldn’t get to swim with Nao again. There’s a lot of love and trust that runs between Nao and Natsuya.
I feel the same about these two as I do about Makoto and Haru or Rin and Sousuke. I see their relationship as a really strong, unwavering friendship, and I enjoy it a lot. There’s probably a lot of history there that will hopefully be uncovered in the future. Nao and Natsuya have enormous potential as a pair in the anime, and I hope they’re used more in the future.
Natsuya and Rin (NatsuRin)
Tumblr media
This ship interests me, thus I’m putting it in this post. So, this is a very fresh ship since Rin and Natsuya didn’t even know each other until Dive to the Future, though they did see each other in Take Your Marks. Rin seemed to like Natsuya, though he probably found him a little strange at first. They end up having dinner together quite a bit while Natsuya is in Australia. Natsuya confided in Rin a little bit about Ikuya, and Rin told Natsuya vaguely about Haru and Sousuke (that he wanted to swim with them again). Rin also seems to have seen some of himself in Natsuya. Natsuya’s personality made most of their interactions seem like banter to me which was cool to watch. Rin and Natsuya meeting was a nice way to tie Rin into the Iwatobi Junior High School set of characters, even if only a little.
I don’t ship them, but I do enjoy the fact that they met separate from Haru, Makoto, and everyone else that they have in common. It would be cool to see them reunite in Japan. Maybe that’ll happen soon.
Rin and Makoto (MakoRin)
Tumblr media
They sort of play Mom and Dad to Haru a lot, don’t they? Rin and Makoto do most likely bond over Haru more than anything, but they do care about each other as well. Makoto was concerned about Rin quite a bit in season one, and Rin really wanted Makoto to find a path he wanted to take after high school. Makoto has also confided in Rin, and vise versa. It seems like they reminisce about their past together as well. I think they probably talk more now that Rin lives in Australia, so that’s nice.
They work really well together, in my opinion, but I don’t ship them. I do think they have a very mature and comfortable relationship, though. Rin and Makoto seem to always be at ease around each other, and that must be nice to have. I’m glad that they’re getting more interactions now than they were before, especially ones that don’t revolve around Haru. Though, I’m sure they’ll always fret over their little problem child.
Asahi and Rei (AsaRei)
Tumblr media
I’m not sure if people ship these two so much, but I know that people really enjoyed their interactions in middle school and the little Easter Egg in the first and third Free! movies where Asahi walked by Rei. You can’t really say that they have a relationship, but the simple fact these two interacted is pretty cool. It’s sort of like the NatsuRin ship in a way because it was assumed that Rei had no connection to any of the characters until high school, but then boom, he’s met Asahi. Rei seemed taken aback by Asahi initially, but he obviously remembered him because when Asahi walked behind him in the movie, Rei recognized the story he was telling-- that some kid with glasses recommended some books to him in middle school. Asahi also seemed grateful to Rei for doing that for him. Rei also seemed to somewhat recognize Asahi’s voice when he passed him in Take Your Marks. Asahi mentioned that you shouldn’t give up as long as the possibility isn’t zero, and that inspired Rei, which more or less returned Rei’s favor to Asahi from middle school.
I don’t seriously ship them, but I think I do ship them. Maybe I BROtp ship them. I just really want them to meet again and be friends. It’s a cool little bit of history they share, kind of like Hiyori and Ikuya’s first meeting. I think it’d be nice to see them together again.
Rin and Rei (RinRei)
Tumblr media
This is a classic enemies-to-friends ship. In the beginning, Rei was very interested in Rin because of his history with the rest of the Iwatobi SC, and he eventually became very grateful to Rin for teaching him how to swim. Rin respects and admires Rei a lot for his commitment to swimming. They seem to get along pretty well, probably because of their desires to become the best in their swimming specialties. Beyond that, their personalities seem to mesh well, similar to Makoto and Rin’s.
Ship them, I do not, but their interactions are always welcome. I think it’s cool that Rin got to be a part of Nagisa, Makoto, and Haru’s lives early on and Rei got to be a part of them in high school. That may also be another reason why they get along, but whatever it is, I really enjoy when they talk.
Haru and Sousuke (SouHaru)
Tumblr media
To be honest, I’m surprised more people don’t ship these two. Not only because they’re an enemies-to-frenemies ship, but because they’re ship is the exact same as Rin and Makoto’s. Haru is the middle man between Rin and Makoto, and the MakoRin ship basically says forget Haru, just give us these two. It’s the same with Sousuke and Haru, except Rin is the middle man. I think the biggest thing that exists between these two is respect, especially currently. Sousuke acknowledges Haru’s abilities and respects them while Haru respects Sousuke’s. Haru also respected Sousuke’s wish to swim in the relay at regionals and vowed to give it everything he had so Sousuke’s wish wouldn’t go to waste. I assume Sosuke also respected Haru’s decision to swim competitively.
I don’t ship them seriously, but the ship itself does interest me. At least, I’m interested in seeing more interactions between these two. I think their dynamic is something totally different and isn’t really seen with any other characters in the anime, so it’d be nice to see more of it. The Eternal Summer Special wasn’t enough.
Albert and Haru (AlHaru)
Tumblr media
Sorry for the awful ship name, I didn’t know what else to call it. So, I saw some interest in this ship and decided to add it in. I said that I wasn’t sure how to talk about it besides “it was kawaii and then not so kawaii,” but I’m gonna try. Albert and Haru met recently in Dive to the Future. Albert looked like a cinnamon roll foreigner, so Haru helped him order lunch; there’s also a super cute moment when Haru notices that Albert doesn’t know how to use chopsticks and goes to get him some silverware, although, by the time he gets back Albert has figured it out and is totally fine. Albert then proceeds to race Haru and basically crushes him since Albert is the world record holder in the 100m and 200m free.
I don’t ship them, but they are exceedingly adorable together... or at least they were. You don’t see Haru being kind to random people that often, so it was sweet. I also enjoyed the fact that Haru had a full on conversation with Albert while Albert spoke English and Haru spoke Japanese. It was pretty funny considering Haru had such a difficult time in Australia. Anime logic. I don’t know how to sum this up, but I will say that I want to see them together again outside of competition. That being said, I do also love the fact that Albert makes Haru super competitive and motivated. This ship, like many of the others on this list, interests me a lot. If Albert the cinnamon roll can make Haru act like a cinnamon roll, then give me all the Albert and Haru you’ve got. I’m ready.
Rin and Ikuya (IkuRin)
Tumblr media
This ship, for all intents and purposes, doesn’t exist. I’m basically making it up right now because I anticipate that there will be some interest in it as soon as Rin and Ikuya meet. There’s a lot of similarities between these two, and that will most likely be the reason that people will ship them. Both of them admired Haru’s swimming, and both of them had a falling out with Haru that was only solved once they swam with each other again. Both Ikuya and Rin want to stand on the international stage, as well. As of now, Rin has been warned by Sousuke about Ikuya’s swimming-- essentially telling Rin that Ikuya swims like Haru and will be formidable opponent. Also as of now, Ikuya has heard quite a bit about Rin, and even seemed a little jealous of his strong relationship and rivalry with Haru.
I’m not going to ship them seriously, but I am still so down for this ship because I want to see them interact so badly. My prediction is that Rin is going to accept Ikuya readily, though he’ll be wary of him as a competitor, and Ikuya will have a difficult time being friends with Rin because of his slight jealousy of him, similar to how Rei felt about Rin. I’m so ready for them to meet. Give it to me.
Well, did you make it? I know this was a lot, or at least, it feels like it. Let me know what you think of the ships I mentioned and if you ship anyone else in this series. What do you think of Ikuya and Rin? Will they be fast friends or wary rivals? Who do you ship seriously? Do you have any NOTPs? Tell me it all! Thank you for reading and see you soon!

Unfortunately, I can’t tag this person. I’m sorry!😰
Note: I made this longer than how I normally write to compensate for my absence.
For Black Butler, I ship you with
Ronald Knox!
Tumblr media
You two would’ve met under peculiar circumstances.
You had sadly passed in your past life caused by suicide.
And now, you’re being punished for dying too early.
You once worked alongside a tall man named William T. Spears for a few months since you passed the training program and are now being formally taught by your superiors.
It had been a considerable amount of time since then, and you had been working on your own.
You enjoyed being alone and occasionally chatting with your co-workers until he came along.
Honestly, ever since he joined the dispatch, he’s been flirting non-stop with the females of your group.
Not to mention, a certain someone that you once tried courting but wasn’t interested you, he managed to snag her too!
Besides, it’s as if he doesn’t even show up to the dispatch to work.
Just to flirt.
It doesn’t help that he works under you therefore whenever he doesn’t do his job, you work overtime to pay for his mistakes.
But it’s fine, as long as it saves your co-worker the stress of overtime.
Even if you end up with it, it’s just in your personality. Too nice! You have my respect.
And that has taken a toll on you.
You even screamed at William and Grell once for simply greeting you.
Coffee doesn’t work since you’re not human anymore.
Any type of caffeine doesn’t.
So one day, Ronald came to apologise. Of course, not on his own accord but because he was told to do so.
He hasn’t seen you in so long because you’ve been out most of the time trying to reap more souls in order to compensate for what he couldn’t do.
When he opened the door to your office, he saw the mounds of paperwork.
He laughed a bit and then just set the water that he had brought with him beside you.
When you turned to look at him, that’s where he saw the messy state you were in.
Messy hair, glasses fogged and slightly out of place, eyes bloodshot and the obvious darkened callous spot on your middle finger from writing so much.
You muttered a small “thank you” and continued writing your reports. That was when he felt as if he truly respected you.
He did respect you for your work, how efficient it was,
Not to mention, his higher-up is pretty hot. Of course he respected you but only now did he feel guilty for his actions.
“I’ll help you.” “There is nothing for you to help with.” “I’ll do my job properly this time.” “Alright.”
Needless to say after this interaction, you’ve become close friends.
Occasionally having playful banters in the office or sharing slightly suggestive jokes to one another.
You usually go reaping together whenever your targets are close together.
Would visit each other’s quarters and homes whenever you wanted.
Practically living-off on one another.
The, “Work-Husband-and-Wife” type of partnership.
Most people don’t understand your relationship but do at the same time.
It’s pretty...interesting.
For Free, I ship you with Rei Ryugazaki!
Tumblr media
I would imagine you meeting during one of their practice sessions.
Is it wrong that I find you being closely acquainted with Haru?
Anyway, being a close acquaintance to him and practically being his second mother, you would visit him at school.
One time, you remembered Haru doesn’t eat much at school and he informed you that he would have practice later.
So you went to Iwatobi and packed food that would be good enough for at least 3 people, in case someone didn’t have any either.
Not many joined the swim team, as Haru said.
So you didn’t expect a lot of people being there.
You didn’t expect to see a really cute girl with a red high ponytail.
And you didn’t expect to see a fellow glasses character with you.
Your eyes met and you simply smiled and made your way to Haru who seemed to have a little picnic with Makoto and his other friends.
“Hey Haru, you didn’t pack lunch right? Do you think this enough? Do your friends have food? Uh, hey you! Do you have food with yo—“ “Yes, this is enough. Thank you (y/n).”
You would sit down with the team and tell jokes to one another. “Hey! Did you hear about that one deaf guy that got run-over by a car?” “No.” “Ah, well don’t worry! He didn’t either.😏”
Rei laughed the hardest in all honesty. The joke was directed to Haru because you tried to make him laugh. He only scoffed.
After eating and resting for a short while, they got back to training and occasionally abandoning the rules of swimming to have fun instead.
“Oi, Nagisa! Don’t you da-“ “Sorry Rei-chan! It’s so funny to see you embarrassed!”
It’s almost endearing how close they are. Like a whole family.
Not long after, Rei, whom you found out to be the glasses boy, quickly said goodbye and rushed out of the area as quickly as possible.
“What’s up with him?” “We don’t know, we thought that maybe he had a high-maintenance girlfriend or something...” “I’ve always cirwed Rei as the type to be weakened by love.” “Don’t worry, we’ll get him to focus and have fun again! “
You, alongside Gou, compiled books to help strengthen Rei’s love for his partner.
And turns out, you were both wrong.
He didn’t have a partner
Turns out, he’s actually trying to pay-favours from the track team.
You were slightly worried for his well-being and decided to visit the gang after shook every other day.
You oaccasuonally hanging out with the guys and at your house.
You being an absolute doll and making them their favorite food.
You’ve become closer to Rei throughout these hangouts.
You felt as if you could debate about anything to help keep your reading skills sharp.
Especially when it came to the topic of the superficial.
You two would end up to be the closes of friends.
And who knows? Maybe even partners
I know I’d be jealous
For Diabolik Lovers, I ship you with KarlHeinz!
Tumblr media
(Key: Art - Is a vampire’s personal blood-bag and plaything. Can be used solely for feeding and/or pleasurable activities. Of human race or a hybrid of a supernatural being. Occasionally, however rarely, utilised solely for companionship.)
Where to even start?
It all started at a ball. A grand ball that was held by the Demon Lord himself to commemorate his daughter Cordelia’s coming of age day. She was the illegitiamate daughter of the king however, he has decided that it would only be appropriate to honor a celebration to her. Not having proper guidance from her family, it was only natural that she did not know what to do therefore she relied on her art, you, to guide her and inform her about the social standing of majority of the nobles at the ball.(reference from Blood Bank haha)
She surveyed the area and chatted with you when it was absolutely necessary. You, being very knowledgable with the state of the kingdom and yet being highly insecure, could only utter short but brief answers to her queries. You took note of the celebration’s schedule and took out your pocket watch. You glanced at the orchestra and decided that she had merely an hour an a half before the waltz would commence. You encouraged her to socialise with the men and find a suitable conversational partner to dance with. She nodded her head and dismissed you without a second thought. You adjusted your glasses that seemed to have slid down your nose bridge a bit and fixed your long brown hair. In times like this, you wished she had a suitable figure to guide and educate her of the importance of her postition. You worried for her future and her outlook of her situation that would soon affect her decisions in the following events of her life. What she should be trained for, the common good of her future kingdom, the proper way to lead her people. Instead, she had a dead mistress for a mother and a passive deadbeat for a father.
You decided to merely cling to the walls of the ballroom once the first dance had started. Your mistress had surely acquired a partner to dance with and you decided that it would be best for you to simply observe rather than partake in the celebratory dance. Walking alongside the woman who was envied by all was enough to redirect the attention towards yourself and you had enough of the spotlight.
As you were worriedly keeping a watchful eye on your mistress, a tall man had approached you.
This man had the most devious look on his face. Given the material and craftsmanship of his robes, he must’ve been of royal blood-line. ‘A vampire perhaps?’ You started to deduce him, he seemed like a very knowledgable young man. A man that seemed to make sure he gets what he wants no matter who he needs to step on, no matter who he needs to take advantage of. Surely he had the riches and the charm, most especially the charm. He seemed like the type of man to solely rely on logic and not so much on the probability of anything happening. A very calculating character, isn’t he? Your mind thought of all those under the vampire race and had settled on the conclusion that this charming young man was none other than KarlHeinz.
“Good evening, my lady.” He greeted, his voice surprisingly deep for his age. He bowed slightly whilst you curtsied. “Good evening, my Lord. How may I be of service?” You questioned with your voice slightly shaking, surely he wasn’t the type to start idle chatter without an ulterior motive. “What is a charming young woman such as yourself doing alone at the King’s ball? Surely you must have an acquaintance or a lover nearby to keep you company.” He laid a gentle kiss on your backhand and looked in to your eyes. He truly meant what he had said. Such beauty manifested in a mere mortal’s body. He could sense an inquisitive however slightly anxious nature surrounding you. And the scent of your blood was absolutely intoxicating, you were most likely sold from the finest of curators. Surely his prescience should not affect you this much. You seemed like a very interesting pawn to be utilised in his game and he would ensure that you will aid him in pursue of his experiments.
He decided to keep this conversation going. He took note of how you fidgeted on the sleeves of your dark blue gown and how your lenses have fogged up slightly due to the warmth radiating from your face caused by the inability to carry out such conversations with a person you had barely known. You exchanged minimal information about each other. He understood your humor for play on words and you understood his cunning personality. He appreciated your interest in the supernatural nature and he came to be interested in your motherly and caring personality. Perhaps you have thought wrong about him? Perhaps he was a very caring young man who would ensure that his partner would be spoiled with the affection and wealth that he will share with her. Given your conversations, he seemed to have been of high caliber and had attained good education. Perhaps he could be a suitable suitor for your mistress? You only desired the best for her.
You had introduced him to your mistress and you could tell merely by the way she looked at him, your companion had found the one that would guide her and mold her in to the greatness that she will become. She would be lead by him and be taught to be devoted to this powerful man and hopefully have a suitable family that will treat her with only the best.
Sadly, you were wrong. The debonair man that had talked to you in such a caring and gentle manner was long gone in Cordelia’s presence and only became the cause of her life to spiral in to this debacle she was in. His influence was the opposite of what you had expected of him when it came to caring for her. If you had just knew, you would have interfered. Then your mistress wouldn’t have turned in to this horrible being that she is now. Your “nephews” wouldn’t have been in such shock to harm their mental state. And most certainly but not regretfully, you wouldn’t have been the only proper parental figure of his 6 sons.

Sunrise- Haruka Nanase x Daughter of Poseidon Reader
Requested by @geekgreekgirl : Can I request a free! Scenario and idk if you’ve read the Percy Jackson series but where Haru’s not yet s/o is a daughter of Poseidon and he finds out somehow like he notices that she doesn’t get wet sometimes after being in the water or he sees her fighting a sea monster, however you want to write it. So they start to bond over it, like she tells stories of her life and adventures. Then they eventually fall in love. Thank you 😊
Hello my dear! I'm sorry this took so long and I haven't read Percy Jackson so I just went with what I sort of know, I'm sorry if this is not what you wanted! But please enjoy!
Word count: 2,563
Masterlist
Swimming was always something you loved, it was apart of you and sometimes it was the only way you could ever really feel connected to your father.
Being a half-blood was hard, you loved your mother but you wished you could be closer with your father but you understand that God's are busy people, you weren't the priority.
You've lived on the land your entire life, never too far away from the sea, usually in lesser populated towns since it made the gifts you inherited from your father easier to hide.
Recently yourself and your mother had moved to a small coastal town in Japan, Iwatobi. It was a cute town, close to the ocean, had good transport facilities, a few good schools, you'd been happy there.
Happy was only one of the emotions incorporated with it, though.
Loneliness had been an ever present emotion with you since you were only little, you always figured it had something to do with your father as being in water was the only thing that ever brought you some sense of being needed.
You'd hoped that in your first year of high school there would be a swim team, a group of people that loved the water as much as you did, people that you could bond with, people to help you feel less lonely.
Unfortunately, Iwatobi high school didn't have a swim team, only an out of use pool over growing with weeds.
That year has been lonely, just like every other, you'd made no true friends, only acquaintances.
You'd spent the summer on the small beach of Iwatobi, swimming in the ocean almost every day, waking up at dawn to swim and never leaving until dusk.
Most days you’d see the same two boys from your class, both acquaintances, Makoto and Haruka.
Sometimes they'd offered you to swim with them, if they asked you would always accept, they were nice but strange.
Makoto never strayed too far from the shore despite him proving to be an excellent swimmer. Haru on the other hand looked to be as excited about the ocean as you were, it was nice to see.
You'd always taken the time to speak to Makoto when he’d sit on the shoreline and simply watch Haru.
There was always a certain uneasiness in his eyes when he starred out at the blue waves, you never asked what it was about, you knew many people had fears of the ocean, maybe he'd lost someone, but it wasn't your place to ask.
He'd told you about how you reminded him of Haru and the similarities between you two, sometimes the boy in question would join in on the conversation, his interest in you was piqued when Makoto asked you what your fastest time was and you'd replied with a shrug and said “I don't swim competitively, I just love the water, helps me feel less lonely.”
He'd been happy to meet someone who, not only looked like they belonged in the water, but also had a connection with it.
To both of your disappointments the summer heat ceased and you could no longer swim in the ocean.
When school began again, you'd been placed in the same class as Haru and Makoto much to your relief since the three of you had built up a friendship since the summer began.
You weren't best friends, but they considered you at least a friend and that was good enough for you.
They shot you small smiles every now and again to which of course you responded to with smiles of your own, sometimes you even shared small talk, it was nice.
A few days into second year, the boys approached you with another smaller boy you knew to be one of the new first years, they'd introduced Nagisa as an old friend of theirs they used to swim with.
They explained that they were going to start up a swim team and wondered if you wanted to help them set it up and be apart of it, you'd smiled so brightly accepting immediately and became even closer with the two boys you'd swam with over the summer and also started to become quick friends with Nagisa.
The Iwatobi high school swim club was most definitely something you were grateful for, the boys and Gou had treated you as if they'd known you for as long as they've known each other, always pushing you forward and helping you feel welcome.
Out of everyone you had the fastest time in every stroke, which to you was nothing out of the ordinary, but they'd given you much praise for the achievement.
The only problem was that although you were an active member of the team it still needed either another three female members or one more male member to create a full team and since Nagisa was dead set on getting Rei to join the team you all decided getting one more male member would be the easy option.
After Nagisa managed to rope Rei into coming to the joint practice between your team and Gou’s brother’s team, Samezuka, you could tell the boy would most likely stay.
The joint practice had been fun, for you especially, all the boys ogling you in your swimsuit probably would've bothered you a little bit more if all the boys didn't look like they were sculpted by Gods, but hey, maybe they were.
“You’re swimming too?”
The captain, Seijuro, had asked you, seeming slightly shocked.
You'd given him a smirk and raised an eyebrow.
“Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?”
The boy then gave you a smirk of his own and let out a chuckle.
“Alright, cutie. You can race me.” He’d winked and you nodded going to stand on the block beside his.
“Don't expect me to go easy on you, cutie.” Rolling your eyes you'd placed your goggles over them and gave him one last smirk before getting in diving position.
“Wouldn't dream of it.”
When one of the other Samezuka members called it you'd dived perfectly and straight away took the lead by a significant amount, not that you were trying too hard. You'd beaten the Samezuka third year captain in record speed leaving all the opposing school’s student’s jaws on the floor, and noticing the smirk Haru sent your way made blood rush to your cheeks.
The race had brought Rin’s attention to you, he figured there was no way you could be faster than a third year male swimmer, even though, you as a female, had less muscle to lug through the water, and the fact that your father is the literal God of the ocean.
You'd gained a reputation amongst the Iwatobi and Samezuka swimmers and after some gross accusations about how you were so fast were proven wrong you'd gained most of their respects, things were good, but… not for long.
The Iwatobi team had gone on a special training camp to an island which you were ecstatic about, Makoto and Haru being fully used to this.
That same uneasiness you'd seen so often during the summer returned to Makoto’s eyes and you had a sinking feeling that you'd soon find out the reason behind his sad eyes.
After setting up the tents, and begrudgingly watching Gou and Miss A return to a hotel room to sleep, the five of you settled down for the night after deciding who sleeps with who.
You ended up in a two person tent with both Makoto and Haru, it was cozy to say the least. You didn't see why you didn't share with Nagisa and Rei seeing as they were a smaller pair but Haru insisted you shared with him and who were you to say no.
Going to sleep for the night at around 10:30pm as it was an early start, your back was to Haru’s chest and Makoto was a little bit away lying on his back.
You smiled a little bit thinking about how much this year bettered your life, the sound of Haru’s soft breathe close to your ear soothed you to sleep that night and you couldn't help but snuggle into him after sleep took over.
A few hours later you were woken up by your head being lifted slightly and your arms falling a little bit, cracking your eyes open you blushed realising you'd shifted in your sleep and ended up with your arms wrapped around Haru and your head on his chest, that discovery would've been a lot more embarrassing if Haru hadn't wrapped his arms around you too.
The two of you didn't have time to discuss this as you noticed Makoto was gone and a struggle was sounding from outside.
Quickly leaving the tent you were met with a panicked Nagisa and Rei and Makoto in the ocean which had gotten rough since earlier that day.
Wasting no time you ran toward the ocean, pulling your oversized t-shirt off and throwing it behind you onto the sand then diving into the cold water.
“(Y/n) wait!” Haru and Nagisa yelled from behind you, jumping in themselves shortly after.
Makoto, seemingly frozen was fighting hard against the waves, you thought it best to go to him, Nagisa no doubt would go to Rei so you made the choice.
Grabbing him you attempted to calm him before Haru came to your side and began to swim toward the nearest island.
“Help Nagisa!” Nodding you cut through the waves as if they were butter, Haru who took notice of this furrowed his eyebrows but continued bringing Makoto to the shore.
By the time you got to Nagisa and Rei a wave had already swept them away, you could still see them above the water so you turned again seeing Makoto unconscious on the sand.
When you got to the shore you sat on your knees by Haru’s side, who was doing CPR on Makoto, luckily the olive haired boy coughed awake and you sighed in relief.
The three of you sat in silence on the shore waiting for Nagisa and Rei to return after you told them you'd seen them safely above the water.
Haru was staring at you and you couldn't understand why, until you realized that you'd just jumped into the ocean in your bra and shorts and there wasn't a drop of water on your body.
“Oh right, that.” You sighed causing Makoto's eyes to land on you too.
“You're not wet.” Haru spoke the obvious and you nodded
“Yeah, I have a secret… My dad is well he's not like other dad's I guess.” Makoto now spoke up.
“But you said you don't know your dad that well, right?” Sighing again, you stared out at the ocean.
“I don't, he doesn't live anywhere near here. I don't get to see him much if ever.” Haru's gaze was on you but you continued to stare at the calming ocean.
“His name is Poseidon. Make of that what you will.” You sighed out, motioning toward your dry body.
The boys stared at you with wide eyes. And you dropped your head.
“Please don't start treating me differently.” Your voice was weak and it reminded them of when they first met you.
“We don't see you any differently, to be honest it makes perfect sense.” Makoto said with a kind smile.
Relief flooded over you and you gave the two a closed eyed smile.
“Haru! Makoto! (Y/n)!” The voice of Nagisa caused you to turn your head in the direction his voice came from, you smiled even brighter seeing that he was okay and so was Rei.
That night the team members had grown a lot closer, specifically you and Haru.
He knew there had been something different about you and now it made sense to him why, you had a bond with ocean because it was the closest you ever really got to being with your dad.
After nights of deep thoughts shared between the two they'd both simultaneously discovered that they held deeper feelings than just friendship for each other.
The summer after second year ended, the two didn't part for long, meeting the first day of the vacation early at dawn like the year before only this time it was just them.
The sun was only barely peeking past the horizon when the two met up on the shoreline, already clad in swimsuits.
You smiled and took his hand in yours. “There's someplace I wanna show you, come on if we hurry we’ll make it in time to watch the sunrise!”
Haru gave you a soft smile, one you'd grown used to seeing, and squeezed your hand as he followed you into the ocean, swimming beside you for about twenty minutes until you reached another shore.
You grabbed Haru’s hand again as he looked around at where you'd swam to.
“What are we doing here?” He ask following you as you walked toward a boulder which you'd stashed a bag with a towel inside, grabbing the bag you pulled Haru along.
“We're gonna watch the sunrise, but come on we may have swam here fast but we need to hurry so we can watch it all.” You yelled excitedly, running up the a steep sand doom.
Haru chuckled at your excitement and followed you up the doom, when you reached the top you walked a while longer until you'd reached the cliffs.
The pair of you sat on a grassy patch a safe distance from the edge of the highest cliff, side by side. You took the towel from out of the bag and threw a half of it over your shoulders and the other half over Haru’s, scooting closer to him to get more body heat.
The sun had yet to fully rise causing you to smile since you hadn't missed it yet, you could feel Haru staring at you and decided to let him know a few things.
“I like to come here when I'm feeling at peace, which I’ll admit lately is more than I used to, it's so serene, helps me pace myself you know? I thought that I'd share it with you since you’ve been a big part of why I've been able to come here so often.”
As you finished Haru moved even closer to you, his gaze never leaving your face, slowly you turned to him with reddened cheeks and a small smile.
“Thank you.” He spoke looking into your eyes, his voice was soft as always and your smile grew.
“Can I… tell you something else?” You looked down, noticing that your hands had become intertwined and you couldn't seem to wipe the smile off your face.
Haru nodded and your gaze met his again, “I love you.”
A smile found his face and blood rushed to his cheeks, “I- I love you too.”
You didn't wait any longer to lean into him, and press your lips gently against his own, basking in the way the light of the rising sun shone against his face.
His lips responded to yours briefly before you were both pulling away, silently you rested your head on his shoulder and stared off into the sight of the sun rising above the ocean, Haru doing the same as he rested his cheek on the top of your head.
There wasn't anywhere else you wanted to be.
