Anime of the day: Hataraku Saibou Black
Tumblr media
Alt Title: Cells at Work! CODE BLACK!
Released: 2021
This anime makes me feel bad. Like while watching this anime I kept apologizing to my body. I mean literally “I’m sorry Hakkekkyuu-san I know I shouldn't use the spoon I dropped on the floor but I did anyway.” This anime is about a new red blood cell. He is super optimistic; however, the owner of this body takes no care of his body at all! As I’ve stated, this show makes me feel guilty, but not too guilty. Like I don’t drink my body to oblivion. The show is organically funny. This anime is a spinoff of the original Cells at Work, but it is much more mature. Where the original was more kid friendly this one is less. I mean it explains intercourse and various other things. However, I really liked this anime. It was nice and funny and eye opening. The opening is "Hashire! with Seiya Yamasaki” and the ending is “上を向いて運ぼう with 赤血球・白血球” both are by Polysics.

Cells at Work! Black TV Anime Fights Back in 2nd Trailer Announcing Air Date
The newest trailer for the Cells at Work! Black TV anime show just how bad an unhealthy body can be for the cells inside of it! Alongside the trailer, the premiere date of January 9 was announced – back-to-back with its healthy series Cells at Work! season 2–, with a new visual, more cast, and the opening/ending themes!
BLACK pic.twitter.com/2LNC5xS2W5

Joining the cast is Hekiru Shiina (Ami Chono in Girls und Panzer anime film) as Macrophage, Sarah Emi Bridcutt (Tisalia Scythia in Monster Girl Doctor) as Hepatocyte, and Daisuke Hirakawa (Noriaki Kakyoin in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders) as a Brain Cell Commander. POLYSICS performs both the opening theme "Hashire! (Run!)" with Kyuso Nekokami vocalist Seiya Yamasaki and the ending theme "Ue o Mukaite Hakobou (Let's Carry on Looking Up" with Red Blood Cell and White Blood Cell, voiced by Junya Enoki and Yoko Hikasa.
The manga, written by Shigemitsu Harada and illustrated by Issei Hatsuyoshi, is serialized in Kodansha's Morning, with the English version being released by Kodansha USA, who describes the story as such:
The manga and anime Cells at Work! showed you what happens when a young, healthy body gets in trouble … but what if the body wasn’t so young, and was never very healthy? This new take stars a fresh-faced Red Blood Cell and his friend, the buxom White Blood Cell, as they struggle to keep themselves and their world together through alcoholism, smoking, erectile dysfunction, athlete’s foot, gout … it’s literal body horror! Whoever this guy is, he’s lucky his cells can’t go on strike!
Cells at Work! Black premieres on January 9 at 24:00 (effectively 12:00 AM on January 10) on Tokyo MX and affiliated station, airing straight after the second season of Cells at Work! season 2.

Anime of the day: Hataraku Saibou Black

Alt Title: Cells at Work! CODE BLACK!
Released: 2021
I love the original Cells at Work. I never thought Black would top it. But it did. Cells at Work Black is the most realistic take on the human body. I mean we, as humans, are trash, and this anime proves it. When you don’t properly take care of your body it encounters a sea of turmoil. And those poor blood cell’s jobs become even harder and more dangerous. That’s right! This anime is set inside a trash human who is overworked, balding, and drowning in alcohol and energy drinks. However, while the parent anime is more kid friendly this one isn’t. I mean the dude gets gonorrhea and doesn’t get it fixed right away. Yeah choices were made.
"Hashire! with Seiya Yamasaki" by Polysics is the opening. It’s on my personal playlist. The ending is "上を向いて運ぼう with 赤血球・白血球" by Polysics. Both are pretty fire, but the opening is my favorite of the two.
