This is my own project I’ve been working on for a while. This is NOT an official shuffle from AKS or anything like that. I do not work for AKS in any way. Thanks for reading.

Notice: The first half of this show is recorded just after the Sousenkyo, while the second half is recorded before the Sousenkyo.

Right After the Sousenkyo

I, Miyawaki Sakura, earned 4th place, thank you very much!

Just now, this year’s Senbatsu Sousenkyo ended, and right now, we’re recording at the bridge right next to the Okinawa’s community center! (laugh). The result is 4th place, and when my name was called, me and the other HKT members were praying; “Don’t say it, don’t say it!” (Sakura’s name) So when my name was called, truthfully, there was a bit of disappointment, thinking “Ah, so I was called at this time...” But this Sousenkyo was a bit severe for HKT, and there were more members I believed would enter Senbatsu, so I once again thought how hard was increasing your rank or even keeping it, so even if it was my predicted result, because the ones before me didn’t enter, increasing my rank, and my number of votes, made me really, really happy. So everyone, ‘Sorry’ is prohibited.

This year’s Sousenkyo was supposed to be held in an outdoor venue, but due to the weather, it was necessary to hold it somewhere with a roof. Because there weren’t any fans, us members needed to enliven the atmosphere, saying things like “That’s not true!”, and right next to me was Murashige, who always had the lead, and enlivened all of us. It was a Sousenkyo like none other, so I thought that, if it’s only for once, it could be considered okay. And Sasshi was 1st again, so continuing to last year, this year was started and ended with HKT, with Hana-chan becoming 80, and Sasshi becoming 1. So of course there was frustration, but I’m glad it ended safely, and I’m really happy to get 4th place.

However, after all, I was once more shown the wall that I cannot yet pass. And next year, I don’t want to be 2nd place the same way. Sasshi became 1st the first time after becoming 4th the year before, so taking that as a jinx, and in the stage, Sasshi said to me; “Next year, be 1st no matter what!” So I want to be the continuation of the flag that has been earned by HKT. Everyone, from now on too, please continue to support me!

As to how she can be this positive

Actually, after my speech ended and 3rd place was about to be announced, I broke into tears, and was crying aloud. It was a bit hard to realise again and again that I can’t pass the big wall in front of me. But Sasshi becoming 1st was a large reason to me becoming positive like this. With Mayu-san’s graduation announcement, and Sasshi’s words to me, instead of thinking about my rank this year, I was worrying about what am I going to do next year. So I thought I became kind of stronger.

Kojima Haruna’s Effect

Also, Kojima-san being there watching made me a bit stressed, as Kojima-san, as a 1st gen who is very strict about speeches, in the Sousenkyo where I told; “My rival is Sasshi”, she said my speech was the best, so I was more stressed about my speech when she’s watching. When I made the statement that I am going to be 1st next year, I actually didn’t want to say it, but because of Kojima-san’s presence, I found the courage to say it, like I was pushed from the back.

About the actual venue and the concert being cancelled

I was in Okinawa about 3 days before the actual Sousenkyo, and did some shootings, so I saw the venue before anyone else, and I actually thought that it might be a bit hard to do the event in this condition, and I thought that safety was the priority. But next year, with it being the 10th Sousenkyo, I absolutely want to do it indoors.

What do you feel like when you listen to your own show?

I usually retort to myself, (laugh) I have a weird way of thinking, don’t I? It’s that saying it myself, but I think I’m a contrary person. It’s like I am a child acting like an adult. I think the things I’m saying are childish, although people say they are adult-like.

Plot

During the new semester in April, a woman appears in the classroom for the 3rd year high school students. The other students wonder who she is. The woman tells the students she is a student in that class.

I'd like to know your thoughts on the senbatsu for the upcoming 47th single. I tried going on the stage48 forums to find some thoughtful discourse but all I saw was people complaining and then basing decisions off the sousenkyo.

Hah, trying to find “thoughtful discourse” anywhere in the 48G fandom is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Too many complainers everywhere. But I digress.

For ease of reference, let’s bring up the line-up for Shoot Sign:

Just by eyeballing the line-up, there really aren’t that many major surprises. While the choice to go for a 32-man Senbatsu for the 47th single leaves Management with a lot more room to work with, it still adheres to the basic principles of the Senbatsu selection process: namely, Profitability and Exposure (I’ve discussed this before on this blog, so I’ll just refer you to my previous post to elaborate on it). The ratios are a bit less skewed towards the former objective, with a bigger Senbatsu allowing for more members in the latter category, but the gist of it still remains. The only major difference this time is that Management now has two sets of Sousenkyo results to work with: the “official” one, as well as the NHK Kouhaku one. With that in mind, we can categorize the chosen members as follows.

(A) Profitability: Members with Sousenkyo-proven popularity

I don’t think we really need to argue about those in Category (A): their place in Senbatsu is backed up by hard numbers, and there aren’t any members that have been left out (the only one missing is Shimazaki, and she’s a graduated member).

The main target of complaints, I would assume, are those in Category (B). The entry requirements here are a lot less well-defined, and tend to be based more on Management’s predictions and choices. Even then, however, I personally don’t think there’s much to dispute here.

Okada, Oguri, Takahashi and Mukaichi are well-established next-gen pushes, with Mukaichi and Okada already being regular frontline members in AKB48.

Goto, Shiroma, Yamamoto Jr. and Matsuoka have all been installed as next-gen Aces within their respective sister groups, and their appearance here is only a natural extension of that portfolio.

Some might take issue with Nakai, given that Kato Minami was the one that ranked in at Sousenkyo, but I believe that Management has made it clear enough that they want Nakai at the front, especially with her being appointed Center for NGT48′s upcoming debut single.

The “Borderline-Senbatsu” category isn’t unfair, either - All those members (Save for Kizaki, who dropped down to the Next Girls tier) are eligible candidates for Top 16 next year, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable for Management to want to give these members that extra chance to grow their fanbases a bit more.

The only real surprise here is Onishi Momoka - she hasn’t been considered much of a frontliner in Team 8 until recently, so perhaps Management has plans in the pipeline for her.
