Unhappy married couples telling single people that marriage isn’t worth it

When people are unsatisfied with the experience of their marriage, they tell single people that it’s a waste of time and money. What they refrain from being honest about, is what contributed to their marriage being unsuccessful. Nobody said being married comes with no hardships, and challenges. They are, however, what you make of the experience you create with your partner.

Everyone’s experiences with marriage is validated in different ways. In order to experience healthier marriages, this requires learning from what was done before. What were those hardships? They can include financial difficulties, relations btwn themselves and the children, caring for each other, reinventing yourselves, determining locations to settle in, or familial structures. It’s important to identify the root of conflicts, so you can decide what you’re willing to sacrifice and be in agreement on.

Also consider the following factor: evolution. When it comes to evolution, some people go through changes. Some people also go through struggles, due to their inability to adapt. There’s usually a conflict in regard to how situations work out; whether or not the two need to stay together. Some will usually separate due to the above reasons provided. Some will stay together due to their willingness. Evolution can be scary, if it’s not being embraced with an open mind + grounded intentions.

An important factor when it comes to marriages, is learning from your down times. Do you allow obstacles to define the whole experience of your marriage? Do you allow the flaws of your spouse to define who they are entirely? Do you allow rough moments to define the communication setting with your spouse? Do you allow challenges to shake up the foundation of your marriage?

Marriage is what you make of it at the end of the day. It’s okay to be hurt that it turned out differently than you expected. It is unfair to define marriage based on your experiences that caused different conflicts. It is honest and wise to allow single people to learn from your experiences. What succeeded, what failed, what contributed to growth, what kept you persistent, and what made you pessimistic. Let your journey of marriage be a testimony for future marriages to evolve for the better.
