The Ministry of Magic cordially invites you to the first ever Unity Fair!
This fundraiser is cosponsored by the Muggle Liaison Office and the Department of Magical Education. It will take place from Friday, July 16th, to Sunday, July 18th, and proceeds will benefit the Billie Lewis Education Grant. Visit Diagon Alley and adjoining Carkitt Market to enjoy food stalls, various vendors, and Muggle carnival games, as well as live music in the evening starting at 7pm. To add to the excitement, each day will have a special something to keep you coming back all weekend long. The newly renovated Museum of Muggle Curiosities will kick things off with free admission all day on Friday, and on Saturday Dr. Filibuster himself will deliver a firework show using only non-magical rockets. The grand finale on Sunday will be a special concert from Celestina Warbeck, featuring covers of some of her favorite Muggle songs!
OOC Description:
For this event, the Ministry is hosting a fundraiser for the Billie Lewis Education Grant, a non-profit that helps Muggleborn students cover the costs of attending Hogwarts. The event will begin this Friday, July 14th, and end on Monday, July 31st. Threads that have already been established may continue past the end of the event, but we ask that you not start anything new after the 31st. Even though Friday, Saturday, and Sunday have specific activities in game, these don’t correspond to any ooc times, so a starter for Friday the 16th in game could be posted on Saturday the 29th. More details about the event can be found under the cut.

Translation of Anna Kasterova’s live interview on 5/29/20.
Thanks to my amazing Gino Anon, the entire interview is translated below the cut. Final word count, btw, is 2405 so like, send big thanks their way. Holy shit!
youtube
Anna got sick few days before the interview. Not covid, just a cold, that later turned into otitis. It was very painful, but now she’s feeling way better, though she still has some trouble hearing with her left ear. They talk a bit about the weather in Miami (it’s been raining there for a few days, but it’s still pretty hot). Igor asks if they’re allowed to swim during the quarantine. Anna says that the 1/
beaches were recently open, but there are obviously rules about keeping the safe distance. “Is Zhenya a good swimmer?” “Yeah, he’s great. He’s spending a lot of time with Nikita, teaching him how to swim. More in the pool though, than in the ocean.” “How do you and Zhenya feel about the latest news in NHL?” “I think, the idea is pretty good. Everyone has been waiting on some news about this season. I asked Zhenya if he preferred for the season to be cancelled. He said, he wanted to finish it 2/
properly. This season has been great for him, he’s in a great shape. And even though he hasn’t been skating for 2 months, he’s still been training pretty hard, running, roller skating and he didn’t lose his shape.” She thinks everything is turning pretty good so far and it’s great that the teams will have a time for training camps and a chance to go to playoffs.“In your opinion, were the players mentally prepared to continue the season?” “I think, those, who genuinely want to go to playoffs, 3/
have been working very hard to be ready, when the time comes. But, for sure, there are some players, who spent more time relaxing, rather than training. A lot of teams are asking their players to come back and start training on the ice and not all of the players follow their instructions.” “What are the rules about practice right now? Are they allowed to train in groups or…?” “There are no details about it yet. It haven’t even been decided yet, what cities will be chosen as Hub cities. So far 4/
the coaches are asking players to stay in shape. They have video calls together, where they go through different footage every time. But, as far as I understand, the organization and the coaching staff are ready for the players to come back.” “How do the players feel about the new rules for playoffs this season?” “No negative feelings. They’ve been under a lot of mental pressure, not knowing anything about the season and the playoffs. Everything seems pretty logical and they’re very happy to 5/
get back on ice and to have a chance to fight for SC.” “Is there any inside information about what cities will be chosen as Hubs?” “No one knows anything for sure. But I know that they’re very carefully considering epidemiological situation in the cities and will choose the safest options. ” *I SUCK at translating hockey terminology from Russian to English, so I’m sorry if anything is incorrect.* “Do you think it would’ve been fairer to include the numbers of “play-in” (I have no idea what he 6/
means by “play-in”) as well as the Robin Rounds into the statistics of regular season? Because it would give the players, like Ovechkin and Panarin, and Malkin to gain more points.” “It’s a very difficult question. But I’m sure NHL and NHLPA have gone over all the possible scenarios and have chosen the best one.” “How has Geno been handling the quarantine?” “He’s been very calm and collected. He’s been doing great mentally, smiling and cracking jokes, and keeping us safe and happy.” “Why did 7/
your family (meaning Geno, Anna and Nikita) decide to do a covid testing in early April?” “I had a pneumonia in November and wanted to find out for myself, if it was covid-induced, if I had any antibodies for the virus. But all the testing came back negative. None of us had it.” “What books did you and Zhenya read during the quarantine?” “Zhenya likes to read fantasy books. He’s been reading “Quantum Warrior: The Future of the Mind” by John Kehoe.” “Does he read in English?” “No, in English 8/
he’s mostly watching TV shows.” “I was very impressed by the story, that after his 1st season in NHL, Zhenya hired Russian language and literature teacher.” “He’s had a lot of free time these past 2 months and he’s hired 2 tutors: English language tutor to work on his grammar and Russian language tutor. (*Sorry, I don’t know if I need to explain this, but Geno obviously knows how to speak Russian. What I think Anna means here, is that the pronunciation of the words in Russian changes depending9/
on where the person is from. Every region has its own accent. I think, what Geno is trying to do, is lose his Magnitogorsk accent and start to speak clearer Russian, like ppl in Moscow of St. Petersburg do.*) He has classes with his tutors Monday to Friday. I’m very happy for him.” One of Geno’s friends in Russia has been robbed recently. Igor is asking Anna, if they ever considered buying a gun, since it’s allowed in US. Anna says no, they feel safe and they live a good neighborhood. She 10/
doesn’t think it necessary or appropriate. They talk a bit about Ovi’s second child being born recently and if Geno and Anna are planning on having a second child any time soon. “Of course, we wouldn’t mind having another child. If it happens, we’ll be very happy. I would like to have a girl, though.” “What’s the best way to describe Zhenya’s and Ovechkin’s relationships today? Are they friends or rivals” “Both. And healthy rivalry is very important in order to reach their personal goals.” 11/
“When Caps and Pens play each other, is it possible for them to go have dinner after.” “No.” “What can you say about the relationships between Zhenya and Sidney Crosby? When we talked with Zhenya last year, he said very nice and kind things about him. Even though Zhenya is in Sid’s shadow a lot of the time.” “I can talk about it for hours. They push each other and make each other stronger. But they also can step in and do more than anyone, when the other is hurt and not playing. Off the ice, 12/
they are very good friends and they support each other. Have I ever thought about what his life would be like, if he was the only star player in a team? I think, he’d be the best player in the whole NHL. He’s very intelligent in terms of building a game, always plans 2-3 steps ahead. He’s very fearless in his game, very talented and vey multilateral player. He’s very unique. They won together THREE STANLEY CUPS! No one's saying Crosby is less talented. He’s an incredible player, he works very13/
hard every day. They are 2 number 1 players in this team. If Zhenya ever asked me if I’d like him to play in New York, f/e, I’d say, no. Pittsburgh is his city, his home. And management and coaching staff are also a very important part of team success. The relationship inside the team is very important. And Pens are the best in that, imo.” “You two watched Super Bowl at Sid’s place. What’s it like there?” “It’s a tradition. Every year Sid invites the team with their wifes/gfs/kids to watch 14/
Super Bowl. His gf Kathy does all the cooking. She’s a very geart person, very hospitable. *omg, this is the first time I hear any1 talking about Sid’s gf 😀, aww* Everyone on the team is very open, very kind, they are great guys. It’s the best thing about Pens. So we’re always happy to accept Sid’s invitation and we always have a great time.” “Do you want Nikita to become a hockey player?” “We’re not gonna push him to it. If it’s something he wants, sure. But I have big plans for his 15/
education. I’d like him to know 2 languages, (English) and Russian, especially grammar, not just being able to speak it freely. I’m studying with him and for an almost 4 yo he already knows quite a lot. And it’s always very hard for a child of a parent, who has achieved so much, to surpass that kind of success. And I don’t want my son to have this kind of pressure on him. I don’t want him to be known solely as “Malkin’s son”. For me it’s very important for him to get a good education and to 16/
choose his path in life.” “Talking about the tv series about Michael Jordan, would you like a bio series to be shot about Zhenya?” “I know he wants to act, in a tv series or in a movie. He talked about it many times. As for a biopic, of course I would like that. He has a huge success story. A man from a simple, working class family. It’s very expensive to play hockey. And he was so talented even in a young age, that his coaches would sometimes bring him a puck, or a stick, or a uniform, for 17/
free. Add to that a story about him finally getting to NHL.” “Zhenya said once in an interview, that you fight sometimes about him not being open enough w/ you, not sharing his problems etc. Has it changed during the quarantine?” “Everything’s been great during quarantine. During the season, he’s under a lot of pressure and always takes it hard if the team loses or if he doesn’t score. Right now he’s very calm and happy, and everything is great.” A question about a conflict around Geno having18/
a USA passport (a lot of people in Russia, his celebrity friends especially, weren’t happy with that, and judged him for that). What does Anna think about it? “He’s a patriot. He loves his country and his city. We were in a hopeless situation, when I needed to get all the documents ready ASAP, and we needed to get married, and him having a US passport would speed that up. You could say, he did it for me. On the other hand, America is his 2nd home. He spends here more time than in Russia. He’s19/
been working here for years. Why is that such a big problem? It’s not like he turned his back on Russia or anything.” Then she talked about Geno’s donation to families in Magnitogorsk, who suffered bc of explosion that happened there in December 2018, and how much he gives to his community in Russia, that ppl don’t know about, bc he prefers not to advertise it. Then Igor keeps asking political questions and Anna is getting more and more irritated by them. Geno publicly supported Putin’s 20/
reelection whenever that was, and interviewer is asking whether him having an American passport is appropriate, considering that he’s a part of Putin team? “Why is it inappropriate? America and Russia are not enemies. Yes, there are some unresolved political issues. They are 2 huge countries, of course they will always feel threatened by each other. But I don’t see any serious political confrontation. Maybe bc we’re in US right now. But Zhenya has a great respect for his president. *bleh, I 21/
don’t like Putin. I know, she has to say nice things about him, bc as long as Geno is a part of Team Russia and wants to have a life in Russia, they can’t be openly against him. But both Geno and Anna don’t strike me as ppl, who will support Putin’s ideals. Sorry for me butting in w/ my opinion*” Question about Geno’s new diet after 18-19 season. “He never drinks alcohol during season. He doesn’t eat potatoes anymore. It’s very hard to cook him a soup w/o any potatoes in it. No sweet things,22/
no gluten. Now before games, he eats gluten-free pasta.” “Is he very superstitious? Do you try to wean him off some of them?” “No, if it makes him feel comfortable, why would I do that?” She declined to name any of them, bc it’s a personal thing for Geno. “Do you put in any work in Zhenya’s image and style?” “I think so, a bit. His sense of style has become better, his taste in literature.” “Zhenya’s favorite music?” “Russian pop-music mostly.” Question about Geno’s gaming habits. Anna 23/
doesn’t try to control him or tell him not to play, bc for him these computer games are a way to relax. She doesn’t mind. It’s his personal time. He doesn’t have his computer in Miami, so he found another way to spend time – studying with his tutors. Question about Olympics. “Yes, he’d like to win a gold medal with Team Russia, when the time comes.” He doesn’t feel jealous about Datsyuk or Kovalchuk, who have an Olympic gold. “Do you think, Zhenya’s last hockey season before retirement will 24/
be in Magnitogorsk?” “Sure, I don’t see why not. He’s very grateful for everything Metallurg gave him and it would seem logical for him to come back there before retiring.” “What is Zhenya’s biggest motivation right now?” “He’s very self-critical (she means Geno’s words about his skills in 18-19 season). He always has a high bar for himself and je always tries to reach it.” Question about Geno reaching 1000 pts. “It was a very big moment for us and a big win for him. He was very inspired 25/
by it and it gave him a lot of self-confidence.” ‘Was Zhenya mad about not making NHL’s 100 players list?” “I was. I was very angry. But he knows his value and what he’s achieved as a player. But it was very strange for me.” “Who do you think Zhenya wil be after his career ends? And how will your life together change? Will you spend more time in Russia or in US?” “It’s a tough question. I imagine a house by the lake, in Russia, with kids and, later, grandkids. With a big fireplace. I think, 26/
after finishing his career, we’d like to travel a bit. But I don’t know. It’s something you should ask him.”

Letters to my Parents - Monday 30 Augustus 1993 - by Alinda
Monday 30 Augustus 1993
Dear mom and dad,
I can’t believe it’s only two more nights before I go back to Hogwarts for my third year. It’s the first time since starting that I’m really looking forward to it. I just know it’s going to be a good year. Draco and I are dating and I will join the Quidditch team. I’m going to be an athlete. Who would ever think that? Dad, did you play Quidditch? I wish I knew or knew someone who could tell me. At least this last month of the summer holiday has been good. Mr and Mrs Tonks already promised me that they would chat with headmaster Dumbledore if there is a way for me to spend more of my holidays with them. Draco’s mom and they both agree it’s unhealthy for me to stay with the Dursleys for long periods of time.
This Saturday Draco and his mother met Mrs Tonks and me in Diagon Alley to do all our shopping for this school year. I wrote to Hermione and she promised to come as well. Our first stop was Quality Quidditch Supplies. Draco had told me about the new broom that came out just two weeks ago: the Firebolt. We went to go take a look and had to manoeuvre around other people to take a good look at it. It’s a beautiful broom and has an acceleration of 150 miles an hour in ten seconds. The Irish International Side is going to use them this season. I wish I was bold enough to buy myself one, but my Nimbus 2001 is a perfectly good broom. Draco begged his mother for one. I’ve never seen Draco beg like that before. He really uses all his little tricks, teary pleading eyes, promises of studying hard and buying his mother the best Christmas present ever. It didn’t work though. His mother told him he just got a new broom last year that will be just fine. Draco was a bit cranky after that. But not for long after I pulled him into a little nook and give him a proper kiss, he was smiling again after that.
We both got new robes at Madam Malkin’s, standing next to each other while she fitted us. We had to laugh about how that is where we first met and how we both got the wrong idea about who the other is. Draco’s mom made sure that I got the same quality robes as Draco, they are way better than the ones I had last year. Not itchy at all. Draco’s mom also ordered some basic clothes for me at Madam Malkin’s, and she promised to send them to Hogwarts as soon as they are finished. Draco says I’m finally going to look sharp.
Next stop was Flourish and Blotts to get our new books. Here we met up with Hermione after Draco and I had words for the first time. I found out he added an extra class to his schedule, namely Care of Magical Creatures. The idiot did it because he knew I wanted to have all my classes with him. The fact that he’s terrified of Magical Creatures makes this the worst decision he ever made, even worse than ignoring me for almost an entire year. I told him he was stupid and he threw back that he did it for me. I don’t want him to do things like that for me. I know it is because he still worries about me. I think he’s still scared that if my life isn’t perfect I’ll do something stupid. I hate myself for giving him that fear.
The manager of Flourish and Blotts wasn’t happy that he had to get two more Monster Book of Monsters for Hermione and Draco. I found out that I already have it, it was Hagrid’s birthday present for me. The manager had to put on a pair of very thick gloves and used a large, knobbly walking stick to get the books out of their cage. He was happy that he only had to catch two and not three. All three of us also bought Unfogging the future for Divination and Draco got the books he needs for Ancient Ruins. Hermione had to buy so many books and she loved them. She’s taking Arithmancy, Care of Magical Creatures, Divination, Ancient Runes and Muggle Studies. Draco said that was impossible, but Hermione showed us her book list from Hogwarts and the books were really on there.
Off course we also had to get all the books for our standard subjects like Intermediate Transfiguration and The Standard Book of Spells Grade Three. When we got at the Tonks home after our shopping Draco spent the first hour going through the books, looking up things he finds interesting. He’s a nerd from time to time, he just doesn’t like it when I point that out.
We went to the Apothecary to replenish our store of potions ingredients. Draco helped us to pick the perfect ones, told me off when I just pick the ones on top without inspecting them. He loved helping me, hanging over me and touching all the time. Hermione wanted to know all about my troubles during the holidays with my family and was amazed I wasn’t expelled. I told her I was too, that for a little moment I was scared I would be sent to jail for what I did. This made Draco laugh, joking that it would make the news if the Boy Who Lived would be incarcerated. After that Draco asked Hermione how France was and she told us all about the interesting wizard history there.
Hermione had gotten money from her parents to get an early birthday present and she wanted to get an owl. She loves Hedwig and is always grateful she’s allowed to use her whenever she needs to, but she would like to have an owl of her own. So we went to a magical creature shop where we bumped into Ron and Neville. Ron was there to get his rat Scabbers checked over, said Egypt hadn’t agreed with him. The witch behind the counter was busy with another wizard so we waited. Draco moved very close to me, almost hiding behind my back when we looked at all the amazing creatures in the cages. There was a pair of enormous purple toads, a gigantic tortoise with a jewel-encrusted shell and poisonous orange snails. Cages filled with owls and ravens was where Hermione took off to find herself an owl, Ron on her heels, chatting to her. Neville said that Ron wants to try to start dating Hermione again. But after today, I don’t think that’s ever going to happen.
Ron showed Scabbers to the witch at the counter while we looked at the owls. When he was busy a huge orange cat jumped on his head and then propelled itself, spitting madly, at Scabbers. Scabbers took off, fleeing out of the door and Ron and Neville chased after it. Hermione squealed and went to take a better look at the cat the witch had called Crookshanks. It was like she fell in love right there. Safe to say, she bought the cat and not an owl and of course that upset Ron. Ron called it a monster when they caught up with us again. And Hermione told him to shut up, said that Crookshanks was gorgeous. She was glowing and Draco and I had to suppress our laughter. Ron was replaced by a big orange cat that hates his rat.
After we did all our shopping we went to get some ice-cream at Florean Fortescue’s. Draco’s mom and Mrs Tonks went to sit at their own table, to chat and catch up. Draco is still surprised about that. He never really knew Mrs Tonks, who’s his aunt, because she was cast out of the family after she married a Muggle-born wizard. I like that somehow my little misdemeanour caused them reconnecting. Florean himself brought us our ice-creams and asked us about the coming school year. Hermione mentioned our essay about medieval witch burnings and she and Florean got into a discussion about that, giving me and Draco some time to just stare at each other and smile a lot. I don’t think I’ve ever smiled this much before in my life. I like it.
We had dinner at the Leaky Cauldron. The five of us ate our way through five delicious courses. Draco’s mother was a bit hesitant to eat there, but Mrs Tonks promised her it was good food and that it was nice to not have to think about which fork to use. After dinner, we were all full and sleepy. Hermione her parents came to pick her up and the rest of used the floo to get back home. Draco is staying with at the moment. His father is off on some business trip and won’t notice that he’s not at home. His mother is also here at the Tonks. I think she really loves hanging out with her sister.
I must be honest, I never expected Draco’s mother to be as kind as she is. I don’t know why I thought she would be mean. Draco has a kind heart. He might like to hide it but deep down he’s the sweetest person I know. He must have gotten it from someone, and since his dad is a scary guy it’s not weird his mother is this nice. She keeps stroking her hand over Draco’s hair that is getting longer every day. It reaches his chin by now. I think it looks very good, the longer hair. I also like touching it, just like Draco’s mother.
But the main reason I wanted to write to you today is that I overheard Mr Tonks, Mrs Tonks, Nymphadora and Draco’s mother fighting. Mr Tonks said it made no sense not to tell me, that I have a right to know. But Mrs Tonks and Draco’s mother agreed that the trued would terrify me. Nymphadora said they had to stop treating me like a little kid. And Mr Tonks yelled it was for a reason why Dora had to come along to escort me to the train tomorrow, that I had the right to know that I might be in danger. Mrs Tonks yelled back that Sirius was a mad man and that there was no way he would get into Hogwarts. Dora then told them all that the ministry is no nearer to catching Black and that the man managed to escape from Azkaban, and that’s supposed to be impossible. Draco’s mother then said that Sirius wouldn’t dare to go to Hogwarts with Dumbledore there so that I would be safe. They went back and forth a little longer until they agreed that it was better I didn’t know that Sirius Black might want to kill me.
It scares me, dad, that this man might want to kill me. I don’t want to die anymore. I’m happy and I just want to have a fun year at Hogwarts with my friends and boyfriend. And why would this man want to kill me? Draco’s mother had said he used to be your friend. Well if he was a real friend he would never come after me, wouldn’t he? I wish you were here to tell me. I miss you.
Draco is hanging over my shoulder now, reading what I’ve just written down and I just want to lay in his arm for a while. I’ll write to you soon, tell you all about my new subjects and stuff.
Love you,
Harry James Potter

Hi writers,
Welcome to mid July! After Summerfest, we’re back into the swing of things! Next month, we’ll drop information from Thornewood’s Monday staff meeting (remember those?) that staff members can choose to interact with or not. Additionally, please remember Cameron Malkin’s birthday is July 26. Lauren will be posting a birthday starter, so be on the lookout!
Reminder: we have reinstated our old starter policy, so please resume previous “reply to two starters prior to posting one open or closed” policy. As this policy is new (ish), the mods will be messaging you if you accidentally don’t reply to two starters prior to posting an open or closed starter.
Under the cut, you’ll find all July starters!
Happy writing,

creepy questions: do all prime numbers
meme: creepy questionsstatus: closed
2. Would you date an 18-year-old at the age you are now?Since that’s such a close age gap: Yes, totally!
3. When’s the last time you were aggravated and happy at the same time?Ugh, that’s a tough one! I rarely get really angry and if that happens it’s a kinda big deal, at least for me. So I would say I’m not happy at the same… let’s see.Maybe it’s really cheesy but the one thing I recall happening that applies to the set up szenario was that time I got a cold during january or february. Zack tends to become really caring when I’m sick and I’m the typical stereotype that don’t want to listen to stay in bed and drags themselves out to class, no matter what. So that bastard kncked me out in the morning just to lock me up in my room with tea and some snacks. He came by to look after me every single free minute and even made notes for me. Such a caring boifriendo. /laughsHe was annoying as fuck but at the same time I really enjoyed seeing this side of him and that actually made me really happy.
5. Is there someone mad because you’re dating/talking to the person you are?Ugh, that’s a critical topic.I’d totally go with yes and there are even several people you are mad for various reasons and I’m still trying hraad to cope with that issue. This issue comes along with my nature, so… well. Yeah, there are a lot.
7. What exactly are you wearing right now?My school uniform? Sorry, no kinky shit on this one.
9. Do you wear jeans or sweats more?Jeans!Normally I don’t even wear jeans that much (suit trousers it is most of the time, heritage, heritage) but if I have to go with one of those options then it’s jeans.
11. Are you a social or an antisocial person?I think I would describe myself as a healthy blend of both. I cherish my alone-time as much as I enjoy spending time with people and getting to know them.
13. What about ‘R’?Rakepick? She’s a bitch but I also kinda look up to her in a weird way.
15. Do you care if people talk badly about you? This depends on the definition of “caring” .Be honest, who doesn’t care if someone talks bad about them? But through the years I learned my lesson that there will ALWAYS be that certain someone that hates you for the simplest reasons and that you can’t change their mind. I had to learn to accept that and let them be but that doesn’t meant that I don’t care.
17. When was the last time you cried?I’m a pureblood, I don’t cry.Just kidding.I really hate admitting this but it was the last time I was in Paris. I have to attend those seminars for being, well, what I am and I have to go to my limits on a regular base. Nevertheless last time Zack was with me for certain reasons and he got dragged into my education what drained him in a way to pass out for several hours. It took him roughly two days to actually recover and the way he dazed through the day scared me to death. It was the first time something like this ever happened and it made me realize HOW dangerous I can actually be for other people. When I reminisced at night I couldn’t help but cry out of utter fear of myself.
19. If you could change your eye color, would you?Nope. I like my blue eyes a lot.
21. Name something you dislike about the day you’re having. It’s the fact that it’s monday. Wakign up early isn’t really my thing, especially not after the weekend.
23. Are you dating the last person you talked to?I’m still not sure if we are really dating or not to be honest. But the last person I talked to is the person I have honest feelings for. Let’s leave it like that.
25. Does anyone regularly (other than family) tell you they love you?Yeah, way too many. Almost everybody that let me under their skin and it’s just out of pure bliss of the moment when they are under my spell.Actually I heard it so many times without any actual meaning that those words lost their meaning to me.
27. Who was the last person you talked to before you went to bed last night? As usual: Zack. We are sharing a room.
29. Where is the shirt you are wearing from?Well, since it’s my uniform’s shirt: Madam Malkin’s.
31. Do you have any empty alcohol bottles hidden somewhere in your room? Not in Hogwarts. My room at home on the contrary holds a few bottles even though they are usually not empty.
33. Do you want your tongue pierced?Nope.
35. Did you have a dream last night?Unfortunately I can’t recall. I’m pretty sure I had one or several dreams but I tend to forget about them the moment I wake up. Unless they shook me deeply, that is, then i can usually remember every single detail.
37. Do you think you’ll be married in 5 years?I somehow hope it but I highly doubt it, to be honest.I guess if it wasn’t to my … our… blood status and family standart it would actually be an option to go for but the chances to flee from our heritage and noblesse oblige within the next 5 years is most unlikely.
41. Think back 2 months ago; were you in a relationship?I really hate those kind of questions. Maybe yes, maybe no, I have no fucking clue! Our relationship holds so much mre than any marriage I’ve ever seen but we still don’t think of it as a relationship people are maintaining that are in love because… well, it’s us.We can’t be together like that anymore after graduating and we are aware of that fact so we never gave that relationship a name.
43. Has anyone told you they don’t want to ever lose you?Yes and I feel the same about him.
47. Do you replay things that have happened in your head?Yes. It’s an important process of self-development and improvement. It gives me the chance to learn things about myself and maybe improve my social abilities to the better.
53. Have you ever liked someone you didn’t expect to?Oh, actually quite a lot people. Especially here in Hogwarts. The more time you spend with someone the more positive and negative character trades you learn about people and the more memoriese you made with them. I grew quite fond of a lot of Slytherins that I expected to keep my distance from when I came to Hogwarts for the first time.
59. Has anyone of your friends ever seen you cry?Yes, Zack. We grew up together so there were a lot of kiddo tears in the past.
61. How’s your heart?Medically: pretty perfect.Emotionally: in love but cautious.
67. Girls love it when boyfriends cry; correct? What even is this question? Don’t be an ass and show emotions: yes. Be a crybaby and over-dramatical: no.
71. Do you have someone you can be your complete self around?More or less yes. Zack again. But since I don’t want to kill him “accidentally” I still maintain some restraint especially when things get physical.
73. Do you have someone of the opposite sex you can tell everything to?It used to be my older sister but since she found her fulfillment in being a cubus we grew apart in the process.
79. Currently wanting to see anyone? Is it just me or is the true nature of those question mostly aiming at the one I love?So yes, there is someone. And I also want to see my pet.
83. Do you think the person you have feelings for is protective of you?Yes, he totally is. He is nut hesitant to show that.
89. So, the last person you kissed just happens to arrive at your door at 3AM; do you let them in?Of course?! But since he has my keys he would let himself in anyway.
97. Who do you have texts from?I’m not sure if you want to have a list now but since we already made clear that there is someone I love I will ignore that initinal intend of this question.I have a busy social life so I have a lot of texts from friends and family.
101. Ever kissed under fireworks? No, unfortunately not but I would really like to. This must be an awesome feeling to literally see what you feel.

Love Isn’t Just a Walk in the Park Pt. 2
Part 1
There are a weirdly limited number of pictures with Sidney Crosby with dogs that I could find, so that first installment is probably going to be the only one with a picture. Sorry! (This is turning out so much longer than I anticipated)
Pairing(s): Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin
It’s been three weeks since Sidney Crosby started taking a randomly chosen dog on a jog with him in the mornings. Sara and Angela have been solely in charge of making the tweets. Geno has stayed as out of it as he can.
Which means he absolutely does not check the shelter’s twitter page first thing when he wakes up every morning, no matter what Sara and Angela (or any of his so-called friends) say. He has better things to do for his daily routine than check twitter. Besides, Sidney doesn’t come in every day the shelter isn’t open every day. It’s closed on Mondays and Wednesdays, the days they had the least traffic those first six months when the shelter was open every day.
Besides, he doesn’t have to check the twitter feed every day, because whichever of the two girls is there when he gets in tells him all about it when he comes in to work.
“Sidney took Abby and Dessy out together because he said he didn’t want to break up siblings.”
“Oh my god, I expected him to have a big deep sneeze, you know the ones that almost echo with how loud they are, but he let out the cutest little sound, and then turned bright red because I was laughing so hard.”
“He came in today in black clothes and got mauled by the golden doodle he took out, Sasha. He was covered in fur when he left.
“Sidney had a black eye today. Apparently he took a bad hit yesterday?”
“Sidney brought a dog stroller in so he can take the puppies and cats out, because he doesn’t want to leave anyone out.”
“There was a mom and a little boy in today when Sidney got back, and they adopted the dog he took out jogging because he gave such a great review. We posted a picture of him with one of the snakes instead.”
His employees were many things, but subtle was not one of them. He had quickly learned to tune them out when they started talking in that certain tone of voice. His mother used the same tone whenever she told him about some cute guy or girl she met the other day while she was out shopping.
So Geno resigned himself to being told all about someone he was very definitely not interested in from his two otherwise wonderful employees.
Just as they’re going into the fourth week, Geno gets a frantic call from Angela. One of her professors decided to change the requirements for an assignment that’s worth fifteen percent of her grade and it’s due in two days. She needs the time off, and Geno is happy to give it to her.
So the next morning, Geno’s alarm goes off much earlier than he would have liked, but he gets up and gets ready. It reminds him a little of when he first opened the shelter and was the only person working there, nine to five, seven days a week.
He gets there five minutes before they’re supposed to open with an extra large black coffee from the coffee shop down the road from his apartment. He fumbles with his keys, but gets the door open with little hassle.
He’s in the back, putting food in bowls, when he hears the little alarm he’d had installed in the back that lets him know when the front door opens. He finishes the last few stalls, then makes his way to the front expectantly.
Sidney is standing there in a sky blue t-shirt and baggy basketball shorts, and neon-bright running shoes. He doesn’t even look tired to be up this early in the morning.
“Hey,” he says, and smiles at Geno, “it’s good to see you again.” And the thing is, Geno believes him that it actually is good to see him again, the man’s voice and face are so sincere.
“You too. Happy to see best dog walker.” He makes his way to his spot behind the counter and leans sleepily on it. “Have to wait a few minutes before you go. Just feed them.”
Sidney gives him a warm smile. “No problem. I got here a little earlier than I usually do because I wanted to ask Angela about that recipe she was telling me about. She not coming in today?”
Geno shakes his head. “Professor change her final project. She need few days off so she can fix, so I’m taking her shifts.”
“I’m sure she really appreciated that. Not all bosses are so accommodating.”
Geno shrugs. “She been with me long time, almost two and a half years. First employee. Know when I hire her that school comes first.” He looks up and sees that Sidney is resting his chin on his fist, his elbow up on the counter. He’s got a soft smile on his face as he looks at Geno.
“You’re a good boss.”
And again, Geno feels like Sidney actually means what he’s saying. He hides his flush by taking a long drink of hot coffee and makes himself power through the burn, knowing his tongue will suffer for it later.
“Dogs probably done eating now,” he says once he puts his cup down, “can go find your friend for the day.”
Sidney makes his way to the back and comes out with Dante, a large black lab that comes up to his hip. Geno waves them out the door, then buries his face in his hands on the counter. How can someone who gives some of the most monotone and awkward interviews turn out to be so friendly and sincere in person?
And it’s not like he can foist Sidney off on one of his employees when he gets back, because he’s the only worker in the store, and will be until Sara comes in to help with the afternoon rush. And worse still, he knows his English still isn’t great, so he’ll have to ask someone for help writing the tweet for today.
He could always just skip the tweet for the day. Sidney not having an official twitter of his own meant that they couldn’t tag him in the tweet, and the tweets themselves weren’t getting much attention. It wasn’t like they were making a huge difference in the amount of traffic the shelter saw.
Okay, that was a lie. He had noticed that the dogs Sidney took out had a high turnover rate. Daisy had been adopted just four days after Sidney had taken her out, and most of the other’s he’d taken out had been adopted in a similarly short time. Dante was a good dog. He didn’t deserve to have his day skipped just because Geno couldn’t talk to the most attractive man he’d ever seen simply because he was also the nicest person he’d ever met.
Geno shook himself out of his self-pitying stupor and made himself get to work. It was another freight day, and the truck would be here soon. Geno needed to organize the shelves and work his way through some paperwork before that got here. He would worry about the tweet when it came time.
Geno is hunched over the lip of a box, digging for that one more bag of treats he knows should be inside it when he hears the bell above the door ring.
“Be right there,” he calls back as he shifts other items out of the way. He’s just seen a promising sliver of red when he hears a strange almost choking noise behind him.
He shoots up in alarm and glances over his shoulder. Sidney is standing in the same aisle as him, cheeks red from exertion, sweat making his hair shiny and just that one shade darker. His eyes shoot up from wherever it is they’re looking to meet Geno’s.
“I just,” Sidney says, voice sounding oddly strangled. He clears his throat and starts again. “I just wanted to let you know that we’re back.”
“Yes, good,” Geno says and makes his way down the aisle to them. “Need water?” He asks as he passes him, gesturing to his own throat in explanation.
“Yeah, please,” Sidney says and follows him back to the counter. Geno grabs one of the water bottles from the mini fridge he keeps behind the counter. He slides it over to Sidney, then grabs his phone from where he’d left it next to the front computer.
“Ready for picture?” he asks once Sidney has drained half the bottle.
“Yeah,” he says. Geno rounds the counter again and follows Sidney outside into the morning light. Sidney hunkers down by Dante, who takes the opportunity to lick a long, excited stripe up Sidney’s face. Geno’s glad he had his camera ready because he gets Sidney’s look of amused disgust perfectly.
He takes two more, one with Sidney and Dante looking at each other, the other of the two facing the camera, Dante laying down in the grass and absorbing the attention Sidney is giving him.
They go back inside and drop Dante back off in his kennel, where he greedily laps up the water that’s available to him.
They go out to the front and settle on the third picture before Sidney starts gushing about Dante.
“He’s a great dog,” Sidney says, “Super calm and gentle. Probably great with kids.” And really, Geno has to stop him before he says too much and he misses it all.
“Please talk slower,” he says, typing slowly on the English keyboard. He sticks his tongue into the corner of his mouth in concentration as he types. “Calm. Gentle. How he handle on leash?”
“He’s definitely leash trained,” Sidney says. “No pulling.”
“No pulling,” Geno repeats. He stares at his phone for a moment, then sighs and shows his phone to Sidney. “Need help,” he says. “My English not so good.”
“Your English is great,” Sidney says before he gets distracted with the phone. Geno huffs.
“Been here five years. Still don’t know how to use pronouns, Angela says.” Geno grumbles.
Sidney looks up from the phone and meets his eyes dead on. “I think anyone who can learn how to communicate in a whole new language is really impressive, especially someone who moves to a whole new country and uses that language to make a living.”
Geno huffs to hide his embarrassment at the compliment. “Have friends who do better. Sound better.”
“If your friends are giving you a hard time for not being as good at English as them, fuck’em,” Sidney says as he types something out on Geno’s phone. Then he freezes and his entire face lights up like a bad sunburn. “That.. I mean... can we just forget I said that?” He asks as he hands the phone back to Geno. Geno grins at him.
“Nope. Tell all my friends Sidney Crosby says mean things about them and I’m best at English.”
Sidney laughs, and it’s endearing how unpolished it is. Geno has heard Sidney’s media laugh in odd bits of interviews he’s seen on tv as he’s flipping through channels. This laugh isn’t that. It’s more high pitched, slightly grating, and entirely charming in how imperfect it is.
Geno swallows down a groan of hopelessness. Finally, something that is arguably unattractive about this man, and somehow Geno is even more smitten.
He looks down at his phone and reads through the tweet. It looks good, and Sidney seems to approve. He hits post and then puts his phone down to find Sidney still looking at him with a side half smile.
“Even though it sucks that Angela has to redo part of her final project, I’m kind of glad her professor changed the assignment,” Sidney says low, like it’s a secret.
“Oh?” Geno says after he swallows loudly.
“Yeah,” Sidney says, making direct, earnest eye contact, “It was really good to see you again.” He gives Geno a couple seconds to say something to that, but Geno is tongue-tied. Sidney doesn’t seem to mind, just gives him a kind smile, and then bids him goodbye.
Geno waves as he walks out the door, then sags heavily in the chair for the computer. He takes a deep breath, the lets it out in a strangled sigh. He is so fucked.

New Look Sabres: Preseason GM 6 - PIT
Tumblr media
Well the useless games are over now. I suppose as Sabres fans we can be sure there will be some of those in March if not February if you know what I mean. Gee, why am I so cynical already? We’re all kinda just enthused the regular season is just about here. Just barely enthused; that’s the common feeling here, eh? I do want to say though that we have to be careful getting a head start shitting on Ralph Krueger. He’s not going to publicly talk down to guys who we all know are ass just because he knows we think they’re ass. You do want a functional organization, right? One of the pieces of that is having a coaching staff and Front Office that acts professional and doesn’t burn bridges and discourage players they need to perform. For such a manly man sport we’re supposed to think Hockey is its very motivationally based. The Sabres weren’t as bad as two wins in the entire month of March last season. I mean obviously they weren’t. They lost the will to keep fighting in a playoff race they were close in until February, when their GM failed to instill confidence by way of sounding completely unaware of the Coach not knowing what he was doing. Now you may ask me: Andrew, doesn’t a professional organization act diplomatically like you said? Yes, good question you smart ass. With us hungry man-eating trolls circulating like vultures around every public statement you need to be diplomatic. Internally something was wrong last Spring and Botterill failed to address it in any meaningful way publicly or privately. It’s a motivation game and the B team we brought to Pittsburgh this afternoon was super motivated.
It’s a little unfair to call it entirely a B team. The defensive group was essentially the opening night lineup excluding the injured. Yeah, unfortunately Marco Scandella looks like he’ll stick around. He strengthened what was already a pretty ironclad case today unfortunately. Risto didn’t play but he’s gotten games this preseason so I’m not going to speculate again about some trade I wish so bad was imminent. Even with the Laine signing I just don’t have it in me to venture a scenario on that one. The first period was kinda fun. All these hungry boys stacked up pretty well against the Penguins A team. Ullmark stood tall. There weren’t too many awful defensive breakdowns. Casey Mittelstadt looked rather ok compared to what the last few games would have you believe. There was a moment where John Gilmour almost dangled himself a goal and for a moment, just a moment, I thought maybe Botts and Krueger are justified in dragging out some of the more obvious cuts this long. Then I remembered how short my subtractions list was in the offseason retrospective and gave it a rest. The game was on MSG, but the live feed was the Penguins broadcast on AT&T Sportsnet. Now I’ve already said I enjoy watching other team’s broadcasts but this Pens one was really harshing my mello when they started playing games with Henri Jokiharju’s name after an embellishment call. That’s dumb shit. My last name is Uttaro. I know what it’s like for someone to mess around with your surname. Just get it right. I’ll take RJ and Rob Ray stumbling over Scandinavian pronunciation every day of the week over actively making jokes about other people’s names. Fuck off.
The second period started off with a couple very good Ullmark saves. I have a bold prediction about him you’ve probably heard if you put up with me on twitter, but I’ll save that for the last preseason post on Monday “Training Camp Closes”. However this middle period is when the scoring opened up. It seemed like the game was a shootout long before extra time. The styles both these teams play is very similar. Obviously Pittsburgh has had a lot more success with it but hear me out here. The first Penguins goal was a shot from the blueline. Ullmark never saw it. The second Penguins goal was a shot from a wrap around play from the circle. Both these teams box you out in front of the net but maybe I’m overthinking this preseason game too much. Yeah, I’ll save the strategy for the regular season. After all, Marco Scandella scoring a toe drag slapshot to cut the lead in half makes no logical sense. Even he was surprise by that goal. By the time the third period was underway my wife had gotten home from a party and I just said forget it, I’m going to order some Chinese. I didn’t expect any scoring in the last ten minutes of the game, and it didn’t matter anyway. Well I was surprised by this team… pleasantly for once.
Remember how I talked about hockey being a motivation game earlier? Yeah, well the hungry boys and the… uh… shouldn’t be here anymore guys got real motivated in the third period. Zemgus Girgensons, Captain of the unnecessary returning players squad, got a fantastic pass from the Captain of the Hungry Boys John Gilmour. Somehow Girgensons found himself on a breakaway, one-on-one with Matt Murray. He tucked in 3-hole and the game was tied. So obviously I know very little from here on out. I was busy watching the Season Premiere of A Million Little Things. At the moment I’m writing this not only is there not full video highlights of this game but NHL.com’s ticker seems to indicate the game never happened. I don’t believe in many conspiracy theories but if there is some French accent evil hockey overlord pulling the strings of the marionette that is Gary Bettman it would want to erase the history of Sidney Crosby’s team losing the day after his number was retired across the Quebec Major Junior League. I’m not saying it’s true I’m just saying you don’t have proof it’s not. Hell, how do we not know this whole preseason has been just a simulation. Ralph Krueger is Agent Smith from the matrix; he’s praising Sobotka and shit just to fuck with us. Well anyway this game went to a scoreless overtime and into the shootout. Does the matrix have a sense of humor? Because there is some humor to Evgeni Malkin missing the net entirely on his shootout attempt while Kyle Okposo shot his on-target right after. Yeah, this can’t be the matrix because Tage Thompson was the guy who kept Buffalo alive after Kris Letang scored. That’s three matrix glitches in one game if you add it to the Scandella and Girgensons goals. Computers don’t make that many mistakes. Casey Mittelstadt ended up capping off a revenge game with a bank-hander past Murray to win it. And so the Sabres ended the preseason how it began: beating the Penguins beyond regulation.
The part of this game I listened to on the radio featured Rob Ray dropping some wisdom. He said the end of the preseason is fun for the guys who have roster spots but it’s not so happy for the ones who don’t. Simply by virtue of math and the roster spot limit there are several players who do not have a roster spot waiting for them. Training Camp is just about over, and I can’t imagine there is much evaluating left to do. A Ristolainen trade probably doesn’t happen and the Bills have a decent shot to make it close against the Patriots tomorrow. Sorry, I added that last one on just to make me feel a little bit better. Monday morning you get Training Camp Closes here on the blog. That’s not just a preseason wrap up it’s also full of predictions about the season. I’ll tease you a little bit: I’m not going hardcore optimist like I did last year. I felt vindicated in the first half by those predictions but got burned real hard in the back half. Like this post, share it and give me a comment. What’s your opening night roster projection? I’m going to take a swing at one before Thursday as well. Before we wrap it up and call it a night I do want to say: the optimist in me is far from dead. Let’s Go Buffalo!
Thanks for Reading.
P.S. I guess that last game against Columbus could still be Risto’s last as a Sabre. *smh*

Look, flower’s happy for them. He really is. Hell, he was the one who got them to get their shit together in the first place. But its been three years since Sidney and Geno had realized they were soulmates, and two years and 363 days since their bonding, and he gets it they love each other. But this is the third time this week he’s nearly walked in on the two of them going at it, and he gets it, but there’s only a certain amount of non locker room related nudity that he can handle in a week and he’s pretty sure he passed that on Monday

Evgeni Malkin offered some bold words following the Penguins’ 6-3 loss at Detroit last Saturday. “Of course we’re not happy,” Malkin said after a third consecutive loss. “We lost three games. I believe we’ll bounce back. These next three games, we should win.” Talk about backing up your words. Monday’s 8-7 overtime win over the Capitals had about a billion storylines attached to it, but one of them was certainly Malkin’s 11th career hat trick. “I wouldn’t say it,” Trevor Daley said of Malkin’s comments and subsequent performance. “But that’s why Geno’s one of the greatest in the game. He’s capable of saying stuff like that and producing after it. Rather him than me.”
Malkin backs up strong words with hat trick

Notre Dame football occupies a central place in the culture of American sport. The 117 Division 1 A football teams that are not Notre Dame share time slots on ABC, CBS and ESPN. The Blue Jays are in the thick of the AL East race and in a soft portion of their schedule until next weekend's showdown with Baltimore that takes them into the trade deadline. And they need Bautista's big bat to return with him.In 2014, remember, www.cheapjerseyschina8.com Bautista was among the players were who openly agitated when then GM Alex Anthopoulos didn't add to the team at the deadline. At the time, the Blue Jays were in the second wild card and 2 games out in the AL East.  wholesale jerseys from china

That's disappointing to Bautista, who played all nine innings at designated hitter, even as he gets closer to his return to Toronto."It was an opportunity to get some runs. Obviously it didn't happen in that moment but keeping rallies going is always something that's important for the team," Bautista said of his single in the eighth off Gwinnett reliever Jose Ramirez.  wholesale nfl jerseys from china

NHL Playoff Previews - East Play-in Matchup 4/4: PIT vs MTL
Hello, and thanks for coming back to my series previewing each of the upcoming play-in matchups in the NHL playoffs! Today, we’ll be examining the last of the four series’ in the Eastern Conference, the Pittsburgh Penguins vs Montreal Canadiens.
I’m gonna be honest, you guys... I don’t have a lot to say about this matchup.
The Penguins have been through some rough patches this season, but a lot of that has been due to injuries. Pittsburgh only has two players on their entire roster that played in all 69 games, and it’s Teddy Blueger and Marcus Pettersson. Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel, Bryan Rust, Kris Letang, and Patric Hornqvist have all missed significant time - yet the Penguins still came out with a 40-23-6 record. All of those players should be back in the lineup by the start of this series.
And I’m sorry, but Montreal would never have had a sniff at the Eastern wild card race if it wasn’t for the Return to Play plan. They were 10 points out of a playoff spot with 11 games left when the season was stopped, with roughly six teams above them duking it out for three playoff spots. They didn’t have a chance. I’m sure most people will also probably remember the Canadiens’ not one, but two different 8 game losing streaks during the regular season. It was not a happy year for them.
I know I’ve been frequently referencing statistics in my other posts (possibly more often than I should, but hey, I like stats), but honestly, I feel like I don’t even really need to do that here. Montreal doesn’t have much of anything happening for them besides Tomas Tatar, and the Penguins stats are skewed low because of all their injuries. I think I’m just going to skip straight to the end.
Final Prediction: Pittsburgh, 3-0
Pittsburgh’s core may be aging, but at the end of the day, Crosby and Malkin are still Crosby and Malkin. Matt Murray and Tristan Jarry (Jarry especially) have been a great goaltending duo, while Carey Price has struggled to give that to the Canadiens. It’s just one of the many things that was going wrong for them this year. With all that, I’m sorry, but I just don’t think Montreal has any chance at all. Pittsburgh’s taking this one in a sweep.
If you stopped by, thanks for reading! My next post will begin looking at the Western Conference qualifying round matchups. I’m going to take a short day’s break and not post tomorrow, so look out for that one to come on Monday (6/8). Thanks again, and see you all Monday!
