Good lord :flails: Okay, these are in no particular order:

Mindtouch, by M.C. Hogarth

The one and only @stormofsharpthings recommend me this series (and gifted me several Hogarth books, smooches) and omg YES. It’s just so?!?!? :flails: :hugs it:

So, it’s uh...set in a sort of sci fi/fantasy world with different species and, wow I’m doing a terrible job explaining this, but THE MAIN CHARACTERS ARE

Vasih’th, who is from a species that is entirely asexual

Jahir, who is from a species with such high pyschic ability that they never, ever touch people outside of ones they are insanely close with

These two are SO DEAR TO ME. It’s the epitome of the perfect relationship, they are so close and so trusting with each other and so supportive and there’s none of that :waves hand: silly sexual tension and shit getting in the way. Anyway, this was probably an awful summary but just :shoves book at you: GO READ IT.

Love Limits and Love Unlimited are Books 3 and 4 of a 4-book series. Books 1 and 2 have different pairings, then Book 3 (Love Limits) Introduces an NB sub and an ace (!!!) dom. They are so damn cute together. And then Book 4 (Love Unlimited) has the pairings in Books 2 and 3 navigate a poly relationship together. It’s all communication and love and NO JEALOUSY WHATSOEVER, and I adore it, and them. So much.

(also there’s a bit of dialogue that I adored, where our asexual dom has a chat with his best best friend who is the dom in the other pairing, and they both talk about how they were and essentially have BEEN in a romantic relationship for YEARS but both of them never thought of it like that because they previously both thought that they couldn’t be in a relationship if they weren’t having sex. THIS SERIES IS SO GOOD.)

A Veiled & Hallowed Eve, Hailey Turner

Book 7 of the Soulbound Series, which is SO GOOD. Basically, Patrick is a mage working for a magical kind-of FBI, and he also owes a soul debt to the gods. Which gods, you ask? Well, one Greek god in particular, but Hailey Turner mixes ALL THE MYTHOLOGIES in this series. We have Greek and Roman, Native American, Gaelic, Egyptian, Mayan, and so many more. It’s so wonderful and creative and also? Totally badass. This was such a great end to the series and I am very sad it’s over but now I can just re-read the whole series!

The Mask Falling, Samantha Shannon

When I was working at Barnes and Noble, a coworker gifted me book one of this series because she is a total book lover and bought herself a Beautiful Hardcover of the book to match the rest of the series and therefore had a paperback copy to spare. It’s a really creative Fantasy series with people who have varying Clairvoyant powers, set in London but also...not. The series follows a young clairvoyant named Paige who is a dreamwalker :cues dramatic music: I don’t really know how to say more without spoiling so much, but I highly recommend the series. TMF TORE MY HEART OUT and Samantha Shannon is currently writing the next book so, you know, plenty of time to keep crying over it.

In This Iron Ground, Marina Vivancos

I talked about this one on a book ask earlier in the year, but it’s just so good. It’s emotional and yes, sad, but in a good way, if that makes sense? It’s honestly emotional, or genuinely emotional maybe I should say. It really stuck with me the MINUTE I finished it and I’ve already re-read it once. In terms of plot, well. Boy meets werewolves? But it’s none of that ~sexy knotting and shifting and stuff. Like I said, this is an EMOTIONAL book. :nods: Seriously, though, all joking aside, it’s AMAZING and HEARTBREAKING and SO GOOD (with a happy ending!!).

12: Any books that disappointed you?

YES, plenty. Off the top of my head, though:

Ashlords, Scott Reintgen

Super great premise: phoenix horses. It’s like the Scorpio Races, in the sense that it involves a horse race. Except the riders use alchemy to summon their pheonix horses every morning and can use different materials to give them different powers. It had SO MUCH potential but then totally wimped out on the plot arc of one of the three main characters after an INCREDLBE setup and I was very very :/ There’s a sequel that I haven’t read yet. Not entirely sure if I will or not.

There was another book that I can’t even remember the title of that was supposed to have a demisexual MC and the author had this great foreword about how they were going to make an effort to portray different sexualities in their books that didn’t get as much attention, especially on the ace spectrum, and I was SO HERE FOR IT but then the story itself was just UGH. I DNF’d it PDQ.

Under the Whispering Door, T.J. Klune

Okay, so I have read so many books by TJ Klune. His Tales of Verania series is so crazy and ridiculous I laugh my way through it. Green Creek broke my heart (well, Wolfsong and Ravensong did. Don’t get me started on Brother- and Heartsong). The House in the Cerulean Sea gave me SO MANY FEELINGS. So I was very excited about this. But it was just so........ sigh. The main character? He’s a total dick. The opening chapter shows just how much of a dick he is. And then he dies. And the rest of the book is him, you know, growing as a person and becoming loveable. Except he was SUCH an EXTREME dick in the first chapter that I hated him on sight and pretty much hated him for the rest of the book. And also, because he was dead and a ghost, he couldn’t touch anyone, and more specifically couldn’t touch his love interest who is the ferryman meant to help him pass on. Now, in an interview TJ did (goodreads emailed me the interview i cant remember where it was) he talked about how fun it was (I’m paraphrasing) to write a romance that grew between two people who couldn’t touch. And my little ace heart perked up at that when I saw it because HELL YES. But there was no chemistry to me, I didn’t get that sense of emotional intimacy between the two. But that might have also been because I just couldn’t stand Wallace Price. What a dick.

Winter’s Orbit, Everina Maxwell

I had heard so much about this book, and I was super excited for it. but my complaint with it is (spoiler alert) that there is so much care taken to set up the reveal that one of the MCs had been in an abusive relationship prior to the start of the book, and then....it just all vanished with the happy ending, like love heals all, and while i like that he learned to trust the other MC, it felt like a let down when there had been so much detail and delicacy put into showing the aftermath of the abuse (the terror in saying no, hating being touched, etc etc etc) and then it all disappeared, just like that.

20: What was your most anticipated release? Did it meet your expectations?

There’s a couple, for sure. A Veiled & Hallowed Eve was definitely one. But some others were

SO MUCH SUPPORT

So, I found Rachel Reid when I read Heated Rivalry (Shane and Ilya are my faves, and I am SO HERE for the Long Game when it comes in April I think???) and I’ve been following her books ever since. This story was SO GREAT. She had said it was originally going to be a little darker but with :waves hand: everything going on, she made it happier instead and I love it so much for that. The night that Troy comes out??? I legitimately teared up for that entire chapter, and they were tears of JOY.

Down and Dirty, Parker St. John

Parker St. John is an awesome author, and this new series follows rodeo guys :fans self: This was book 2 of the series and I was super excited for it because the main character popped up in book 1 and I was very curious about him. This one was painful in all the best ways, and when these guys finally got their happy ending I was cheering so hard.
