S3 should have Crowley and Aziraphale (before sorting their shit out) stuck somewhere where there is also a gay couple with a kid which eyes Crowley until they just let her go to him (kids love himmmm too) and Aziraphale watches him dancing with her for fun, at the same time listens to the couple fighting about one of them having a homophobic religious parent who keeps on bashing their relationship and child.

And he sees one of them snap and he goes to Crowley, and Aziraphale hears Crowley telling him to give up because people don’t change and it hits Aziraphale right in the face.

Later Crowley goes to the bar for a drink and Aziraphale listens to the one with religious family talking with them on the phone while watching his husband dancing with their child and he gets quiet for a moment and then “I need to go, guys. I want to dance with my husband and our beautiful daughter. Goodbye.” And he leaves the phone behind and joins them happily, twirling them on the dance floor.

And Aziraphale finally gets it.

The way she can't get over Jing, still.

This is such an interesting scene to me. Because she has realized that she cannot have a relationship that meets her standards for love and trust (she tried with a candidate as suited to it as one could possibly be and he still ultimately failed her series of tests) and I think she knows that if Jing couldn't pass it, nobody could and she does not want to risk again. And so, very pragmatically, she has decided that (to quote that old line) "if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you are with" - there is no point trying for love but she wants a husband because she is terrified of loneliness; marriage is a way to have someone around forever and this is her escape - someone for company but someone she is not invested in and so is emotionally "safe" and won't hurt. That is why rebound relationships are a bad idea. (Her standard of perfect love or nothing pretty much evolves - it's like when much later in the novel SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER she believes Jing is dead and decides to become a xianxia nun - it's a huge escalation of this tendency of hers but it's on the same path really - she doesn't think she can get what she had/felt with Jing twice and she does not believe in settling; the nun thing is more extreme but even marriage the way she visualizes it here is not a search for love, just an attempt to stave loneliness END SPOILER SPOILER.)

Oooof, this still hurts and goads her, doesn't it? It's an utter rebound reaction.

This is fine for many characters but not for her. That is why it's so good the marriage falls through later (thank you Vampy and Jing!)

The way his face is through all of this just kills me. He knows she never sees him as anything but family and never will and he accepts that and knows he should never seek anything else from her and he won't. But I do think a small part of him is more comfortable with the thought of her in a polite bloodless marriage with respect but no affection, than a marriage full of love and desire which is what she'd have had with Jing. With this, he will always be first.

forgot to mention in the last post that the merch for REO wasn't that good? I didn't buy an REO shirt bc there genuinely wasn't anything I wanted, so I bought a keychain

the styx shirts, however, were awesome and I bought one PLUS and an autographed cd of their newest greatest hits compilation

I was already at the point of passing out by the time REO was done

oH btw i forgot to mention that the ppl next to us were super nice it was a husband and wife and the husband RECOGNIZED MY ART FROM INSTAGRAM ???? BC REO SHARED IT ;O; I literally started tearing up

anyway when Styx came out all hell broke loose as far as my insanity goes

I was basically right in front of his spinning piano/keyboard/organ, just 5 rows deep.

During the first fucking song (To Those), Gowan fucking recognized me. He fucking recognized me. He straight up pointed at me with this big smile on his face and kept doing his little hand motions in my direction and nodding- he fucking knew it was me.

this led to a relationship- a love affair, if you will- between me and our dearest Larry for about the first half of the set.

At the end of the set I held up Tommy's portrait and Gowan was trying to get a look at it but probably couldn't tell bc i was far away and there was probably a glare

only one pick during this entire night got thrown in the general area of where I was and I don't even remember who threw it tbh I don't even remember what BAND it was during

I then waited by the bus exit for like 15 minutes, peeking through the fence before a security guard asked me what I was doing. I briefly explained to him I just had prints for the bands and he told me "the first band" had already left and "the second band" was about to and that they 'don't get things'

I asked him once or twice just to confirm that there was no one I could give them to in order for them to get them, just so I knew that the Mission had come to its end.

EDIT: When tommy segued into Too Much Time he did the thing again— "try and picture yourself in the early days of MTV, just try and picture yourself there" and when the song started he froze and did these crazy eyes looking from side to side like 👀 "oh shit..."

at the line "i can solve the world's problems without even trying" he did this limp wrist type thing kfksakkfogof he also did the lil "i'd go out cruisin" hand

allegedly after their bows Todd kissed tommy on the cheek or something gnskqkofykgkd

Amane wasn't treating his wounds! He was persistently going about his days, feeling his fingers sting every cold pull of a doorknob, feeling his shirt-collar scrape against a neck abrasion, visibly bruised and battered and not wanting or appreciating any attention for it. If he didn't look like an abuse case, then he looked like a delinquent, aloof and distant towards any help. Perhaps already with a reputation for never doing anything for anybody and being a ditch.

Amane declares allegiance with whoever is doing this; even if there's nothing to justify it, even if nobody else would forgive it, he forgives it. He wants no interference. He doesn't appreciate any pity. Maybe there is a kind of pride, that comes with wearing all of this on his sleeve. Maybe the wounds all become visible proof of loyalty, of the lengths he'll go to, of the things he will endure, and how long. Maybe it's nice to see them, feel them, look at them, be constantly visibly marked! Another day, another set, another day, layered over the other day, building up, different stages of healing, ripping back open. He still likes P.E.. Maybe it feels nice to run, when everything's stinging. Open air biting at raw red. Making no effort to hide any of it. An image upheld, for whoooo? Cleaning up this mess, for whooo? It's not important he be healing; maybe it's important he be bleeding. To please himself, more than to please anyone else.
