What do you think of the decision of HOTD to give Corlys a bardiche to fight with, as opposed to a sword? I'm trying to think of any similar weapons seen in the show or Game of Thrones and all I can think of is some of the Dornish weapons.

Uncle is a favorite.

I'm very biased about it, and I love that he didn't fight with a sword.

It is very impractical in the combat they are in at the moment, but I don't care it's excellent.

I do like the Dorne adjacent comparison in this world because they both do intense trading with Essos, and I'd like to think he learned to prefer it on his voyages.

But again, it's also entirely his own.

I can't recall a character with anything akin to it and I think it's supposed to be a cool nudge towards the idea that he is different from most noble men who sit at tables to discuss trade. He's lived and learned through it.

Euron has one similar to it but show Euron isn't real, and more importantly, his and tyrion's are more aligned to axes rather than the elegant, sexy and classy number Corlys has. Maybe it's a trade known by Essos Sea fairers. But overall, it's his weapon.

How do the mimes react when it comes to hosting for the first time?

It's different for everyone, really. Some of them, especially the earlier ones to discover hosting, are rather shocked and confused. Others adapt surprisingly quickly. For a few it even feels like second nature to host.

For instance, Calamea goes NUTS when she takes over a host for the first time-- she's one of the first in the story to do it, and some sensations are overwhelming and unknown to her.

Or with Rede, though he's one of the much later ones to host, he's caught in shock for many of his first days as he experiences things he didn't know he was capable of feeling. His reaction is like. Shell-shocked at points, even.

Uppsulka on the other hand adapts so well she fools even some of her fellow friends by her level-headedness and commit-to-the-bit attitude in host, despite her mimey nature shining through so blatantly.

Or as I've mentioned before, Ching is obsessed with hosting. He is addicted to life the second he tries it, and adjusts much better to the curveballs of being alive than his other friends.

I could ramble on for a while about everyone's first reactions. But that'd be so much for just one ask 🦚

Lucius Fox is in the drive thru for some coffee, and like. He's just. He's had a time, okay?

He's stuck on some equations in regard to the amount of torsion a joint would go through if it's half in his dimension and half in another, and it's driving him up a wall.

He's been up for like forty-eight hours, he's tired, he's thirsty, he just wants a coffee, and also how to solve this dilemma.

He doesn't expect the barista in the drive-thru he's ranting about the engineering issues to actually provide decent feedback, and give him a few alternatives.

So he rushes to the pick-up window, not even caring to order, to look at this godsend of a barista.

It's a scrawny kid with black hair and blue eyes, looking startled. Boy can't be more than eighteen.

He asks what college the kid is going to, or plans to go to.

To his absolute horror, the kid-Danny, according to the nametag-says he can't afford college. That he'd had a stint in highschool where he just hadn't been able to focus, and his parents had spent every penny they had on their own inventions.

So that was why he was a barista; because if he worked there for four years, they would offer tuition assistance.

Which.

No. No no no no no.

Lucius pulls around to march into the store, Bruce Motherfucking Wayne already blearily on his phone.

He is getting this kid, and any friend of his, into college.

If Bruce won't foot the bill, he will.
