i genuinely love when you can tell an older show was Not made with high quality video viewing in mind. i am watching knight rider and constantly seeing all the little mistakes they surely brushed under the rug thinking nobody would see them on their crunchy little CRTs back in the 80s, that are huge attention grabbers now in HD fullscreen on my 3 foot computer monitor

the biggest one of course is all the drivers/controllers for the (in-universe) self driving car, kitt. there's guys tucked down in the footwells who can't always stay out of the shot. there's a guy who has a Car Seat Suit to blend in and look like the drivers seat from a distance, but you can always tell when that's the method they're using for a particular shot because its so much thicker than the passenger seat next to it and the headrest is missing it's cutout section. in at least one instance he starts taking the suit off too early, on a focus shot of the damn car, so its REAL visible.

all the extremely obvious stunt drivers or performers who look nothing like the character they're supposed to be

props, such as animals, vanishing from the car interior for stunt/race sequences.

the production crew (or their shadows) being visible in the background. only at a glance, but its especially hilarious in shots where nobody else is supposed to be around

the camera panning out from a sound stage set far enough that you can actually see over the edges of the set and into the stage they were filming in. mostly this happens with their truck trailer mobile unit thing.

this one isn't a mistake but every time the car "turbo jumps" they CLEARLY hide the ramp behind another car, a prop, the environment, and its just. so charming. sometimes its blatantly on screen just for a moment. like... of Course in real life this car isn't magically leaping 20 feet, of course its a ramp, but it's still so silly and fun to be reminded of how they were doing those stunts to begin with.

also not really a mistake but related, the bracket they keep on the front of the car for stunt work.... is just left on half the time. cuz it's a pain to take on and off.

and there are more examples that are more unique that haven't cemented themselves in my head well yet, but these are the more notable or common things i see and it's really charming. if i'm not giggling to myself noticing the "seams" and flaws and so human imperfections of your show or movie what EVEN is the point. hollywood is too flashy these days i think!

I don’t know, even if the things don’t pan out the way they look to me right now, it doesn’t concern me personally? Like of course, on some theoretical level I am hoping that this is how babygate will end so that Louis is free from it, but in the end Louis is a celebrity I’ve spoken to briefly a couple times and don’t actually know him, so his life doesn’t really concern me beyond the „I hope he’s doing okay because he’s a nice person“

As a fan in a fandom that is a big hobby to me, I am of course interested in the theories and hoping that against all odds, Louis (and Harry) can lead a happy, love filled life (together). But yeah - all that doesn’t influence my excitement to get to enjoy Louis‘ art, his music and now the doc and just sit and admire him :)

TH1RTE3N'S TR4V3L5: In The Shadow of the Dragon-God

I have been playing video games my whole life. Since I could pick up a controller with my grubby little toddler hands, the medium has never been far from my grasp. From my first adventures in gaming where I would watch my older cousin play the original Kingdom Hearts on the PlayStation 2, to getting my very own PS2 for my fourth birthday and playing Jurrasic Park: Operation Gensis well into my childhood nights (yes, I DID let my dinos run loose and eat my park-goers, thank you very much). In all my years of playing games across countless genres and developers, there have been few times in my life where playing a game has made me gasp, drop my jaw, make my breath catch in my chest, let a “wow” spill forth from my lips.

Climbing the western edge of the Gerudo Highlands for the first time in Breath of the Wild was one of those times for me. I was following my red pin towards a Sheikah Tower that I needed to unlock. Kind of. I was sort of aimless, wandering the rolling hills of Hyrule, doing that thing I do best when I play massive open-world games like BOTW. That thing being, wandering aimlessly towards the loose direction of my initial objective. I love to lose myself in games. To explore every corner of the map, to drink in the scenery, admire how the score compliments the situations I encounter, and I ESPECIALLY read every bit of lore I can find. Well, at least I try to (looking at you BioWare!) As games get bigger and more grand, and with the apparent renaissance of the open world genre across the industry, I am very grateful for lore journals and notebooks becoming a standard practice.

Wandering through the Great Hyrule Forest for the first time certainly made me say “wow”... sometimes out of frustration!

It was on one of these wanderings that I crested a hill in the Highlands, not even sprinting and using up my stamina, but more slowly and with care, in a strange pseudo-reverence to the talented artists and engineers that built the world that I was wandering in. I remember stepping over the hill with my game camera pointed to what was behind Link. I turned the camera to a gorgeous view of Lake Hylia at sunset. It was a stunning sight, one I decided I would stop and admire for a few seconds. Many real people with real lives and real love for  the Legend of Zelda series spent many real hours of their lives on making sure that the wind blew through the grass on the Highlands at just the right speed, and that the crickets chirped at the right pitch and volume. Someone had to make sure the sunset was the right shade of orange, and I intended to be the one to make note of its hues.

I noticed something right then, out of the corner of my right eye. How long had it been there? My reaction was to turn my camera quickly. Was it an enemy that I hadn’t encountered? Some new form of Guardian? Heavens forbid… what if it was another keese swarm?! My eyes adjusted as the motion blur from the camera pan settled. What I saw wasn’t a new enemy; guardian, keese or otherwise. It was… wait… what is that? Is that a dragon? OH MY GOSH THAT’S A DRAGON!!! And a dragon it was. Snaking its way out from beneath Lake Hylia, was the yellow-green visage of Farosh. 

My first experience with a Zelda game was in 2013, playing Wind Waker HD on the WiiU. The admittedly charming themed console was pre-loaded with a copy of Hyrule Historia, Nintendo’s attempt at weaving a cohesive narrative from the notoriously incohesive franchise. Like I said, I am nothing if not a lore nerd. At that point, I had been a bit-more-than-casual Zelda fan, and had taken some forays into the “Zelda timeline” YouTube holes, where I spent a bit (read: many dozens of hours) of time.

Seeing the Temple of Time in Ruins after fighting Ganondorf within its halls in Wind Waker HD was jarring to say the least.

It’s moments in games like these that I find myself reflecting on what gaming is to me as a medium. I could have experienced a serpentine dragon-god rising from a lakebottom in a fantasy novel, sure no problem. Heck, I probably have already, who knows these days with all these dragon shows and their houses and stuff! But it wasn’t in a novel. My meeting with Farosh wasn’t planned or scripted. Someone hadn’t written it, published the scene, edited that moment with flowery language until it fit their perspective of what the author thought a mighty creature being revealed might look like. It was my wanderings, a beautifully blank canvas left to uncover built with the love and attention of the people that made Breath of the Wild a reality, that allowed me to cross paths with the dragon. Watching Farosh ascend to light up the skies above Lake Hylia was something I will never forget. I will admit, when starting Tears of the Kingdom this past week, I was nervous that my breath would be measured, that my footfalls would be quicker, that I would press the sprint button more and the camera button less. Thankfully, I can say that is not the case, and I cannot wait to pick my jaw off of the floor once more.

Okay, so, because I was caught in 4K HD in the tags on @hero-adjacent's post rambling about this theory that I don't think I've heard anyone on the brainwave of before, I figured I'd write the whole thing out. This is probably going to be a goddamn dissertation and I am so sorry. Giving credit where it's due for being the one who first said it, @reetamorgan was the original Oh Shit Oh Fuck mastermind here.

So bare with me here alright, this is off the fucking walls at first but hear me out:

We never get a specific timeline (to my knowledge) of exactly when Angelus was cursed with his soul, only that it happened when he killed a Romani girl (I'm not using the slur, Whedon, get bent) and the Elder of that tribe had him cursed with his soul for the pain and suffering he caused On Purpose like he was some kind of vampire psychological sadist Picasso. Now, here's where we get into the theory at hand: what if that girl was Drusilla?

Dru was sired in the mid-1800s, Darla was the one who hand-picked her for Angelus to bat around like a cat with a mouse, but it was his decision to sire her instead of kill her because he thought she was special (Angel 2x5). Darla was not 100% on board- case in point:

Angelus: "We turn her into one of us. Killing is so merciful, in the end, isn't it? The pain has ended."

Darla: "To make her one of us? She's a lunatic."

Angelus: "Eternal torment."

And he sires her before she can take her vows solely so that he can have the final laugh. Which... is kind of a big fuck you to just have nothing done about it, you know? What sparked the theory itself is a conversation that takes place in BTVS 2x14 Surprise in an exchange between Jenny and her uncle and the very specific language he uses to describe the situation which is as follows:

"...You just forget that he destroyed the most beloved daughter of your tribe? That he killed every man, woman, and child that touched her life? Vengeance demands that his pain be eternal as ours is!"

Except we do! Because it's my post and I said so and I warned you this might get dissertation length!

So the main reason this made us pause and stare at each other like the slow-pan to look at the camera in The Office after our- what- I think this is our third or fourth rewatch together? Was because he used the word "destroyed". He didn't say killed. And because he used the phrase "eternal pain" directly after this. Obviously that kind of tragedy stick with you for a very long time, but that specific usage very much sounds like something that they are actively still suffering with the consequences of, and not just because Angel is still alive.

We get a little bit of Drusilla's life in Angel the series, granted, with her mother telling her that her visions are an affront to the Lord and a little bit about her sisters, but to my recollection, we don't really get that much about her family life or ties other than this? I would think that it's entirely reasonable to assume that they could be of Romani descent, that her mother may have decided to possibly step away from her family once she was married and embrace a different lifestyle, or one of many different scenarios that would put her and her family slightly out of the frame of that lense, and that the visions Drusilla has could very well be a hereditary thing, something passed down from generation to generation, or possibly one that skips a generation, much like the Elder Woman is mentioned having visions in Surprise when Jenny's uncle tells her that she's seen that Angel's pain is lessening, that her visions are never wrong. This could also be why her mother reacts so aggressively to Drusilla having these visions in the first place, why she was so adamant that only God was supposed to see things before they happened.

Angelus proceeds to kill her entire family in front of her for The Bit, before forcing her to run to a convent to escape him and waits until just before she's about to take her holy vows before he turns her, again, purely for The Bit, and if that shit doesn't get you cursed, especially a curse of that magnitude, I don't know what else says fuck around and find out quite like that does.

I also think that it would be a rather karmic thing if the fate of Angel's soul was quite literally in the hands of the girl he tortured to madness and turned into a vampire, eternally bound to kill to live and still wracked with visions of things to come, whether it be knowing Buffy would become someone that would irrevocably change Spike, the man she herself sired, hence her almost desperation for him to get rid of her when he first comes into contact with her, or even the smaller glimpses at visions she gets throughout the Buffyverse of things that one way or another do come to pass.

It would also serve to tie into the weird connection and mutual trauma that Buffy and Drusilla seem to share, down to the fact that they even share a birthday. That because of Angel and Spike, their lives are always going to be a little bit entwined, they both love Spike in their own unique ways, and they both have a love and loathing for Angel for the attention and love he's given them and for the utter betrayal and frankly sadistic level of malice he has for both of them for making him feel anything for them when he's without his soul, how he's absolutely overtaken by the need to destroy everything that they hold dear, to take every last bit of light in their lives and make them suffer for as long as possible because they made him feel before he kills them or sires them- which I'm entirely convinced that if he got the chance when it came down to it, he'd have tried to turn Buffy too. Because as he said before, death is an end to the suffering. He wants it to last. He wants it to be eternal.

Anyway, that's the Overview of the "what if Drusilla is the reason for Angel's curse" bit that Wills and I have been tossing back and forth like Apollo's prophecy dodgeball. This was way more words than I had originally intended but goddammit I do my research when I have quite literally nothing better to do with my time. Skyward Sword HD

Started playing Skyward Sword HD. I saw a speedrun of it and wanted to give it a shot since I’d never played it and it looks beautiful. I’m at the first surface area, so here’s a few thoughts.

There is no reason, in the Year of our Lord 2022 that remapping controls isn’t allowed in a game. None. I’ll take no suggestion on the Switch remapping, because developers shouldn’t lean on that.

Having the right stick control the sword by default and having to hold L to have right stick use the camera is incredibly counterintuitive.  Having the option to invert this, or have the sword tied to ZL would have been way better. Also having this as a toggle would be way better. Which goes to point #1

Fi. Fi, babe, I don’t need you to tell me the thing that three other people have told me. Oh, I’m at the green column of light and I can get to the surface through a hole at the bottom of the column of light? Wow. I certainly didn’t know that from the lengthy exposition and visual storytelling. That was sarcasm, Fi.

You don’t need to pop out of my sword every time you want to talk to me, Fi. Navi didn’t need to go through a cutscene to say “Hey, listen” and your dialog is about as useful.

I don’t need you to tell me where I am and open my map for me, Fi. I’ve done the map tutorial and having a zone title card during the long panning shot of the landscape would have been a better choice, Fi.

God, you’re not going to hold my hand like this throughout the entire game, are you?

Actual useful criticism: Tie Fi to a button (like d-pad down, since that’s her button anyway) and if she has something not story critical or part of a cutscene, just have her make a little noise and I can choose to listen to her or not.

Having enemies that can only be harmed by a certain slash direction is fine when the motion controls were mandatory, but are dog-shit when using a controller. Make a toggle for these enemy types.

Honestly, I’m hoping some enterprising modder can either add some changes to Skyward Sword HD or remake the game elsewhere, because hoo boy...

I think I’m better off watching a Let’s Play at this point.

Obi-Wan Parts I and II

Ok I wasn’t gonna liveblog this but I think I have to.

I decided to liveblog because I need to say I DON’T WANT TO SEE THE YOUNGLINGS GETTING ATTACKED AGAIN. I DON’T WANNA SEE THIS. DID YOU HAVE TO START LIKE THIS. Hey. Whoever said “Let’s show Order 66 again”... I just wanna talk. I just wanna talk that’s all. Where’s Grogu. Also. During the prequel recap, the inclusion of that last line of Yoda’s... are you telling me... we’re gonna get Qui-Gon Force ghost in this series... because I’ll actually die. Reva. I love her. I know she’s evil. That doesn’t mean I don’t love her. You give me a Black girl in sci-fi media, I have to adore her with my entire heart. It is Black Girl Nerd law. My girl Reva is smart. Oh god... Meat from Torchwood flashbacks... Is that Obi-Wan... or is it Uncle Owen... It’s Obi-Wan!!! I just remembered his lizard from RotS. I miss the lizard. That was a good lizard. If this scene with Ben cooking and sitting outside to eat had been released before TFA, the Rey Kenobi theories would have been even more widespread. (I still believe in Rey Nobody but that’s just me) I have not yet seen the Boba Fett series yet (I know I know, I’m a disgrace.) but I know the Tusken Raiders are heavily featured, but are the Jawas in it too? Because right now, seeing a Jawa up close and in HD, it’s so weird. I’m so used to their eyes just being floating glowing yellow dots, and now I can see the eyeballs and a vague shape of a head. I don’t like it. Oh Ben... he needs therapy... I’m gonna interchangeably call him Ben and Obi-Wan depending on how lazy I am when it comes to typing. Sorry. ...It’s... it’s my boy... it’s my baby... it’s Luke... Oh poor Uncle Owen. OOOHHHH OBI-WAN. WATCHING BABY LUKE PRETEND TO FLY. THE NOSTALGIA. Ahhhhhhhh help. I knew I recognized that dumb toy. Oh god help me. I’m not ok. “Walk out into the middle of the desert and bury it in the ground.” Ok I can’t remember RoS very well but isn’t that what Rey did? Why so many Rey parallels? (Also I went and rewatched the scene and yes she did bury it and I forgot all the “I hate the sand” jokes.) “You were once a great Jedi” He’s STILL a great Jedi. I did NOT like that Dark Side-esque music that played when the camera panned back to the Jedi asking Ben for help. Naboo? NOOOO. IT’S ALDERAAN. NO. YOUNG LUKE IS ALREADY TOO MUCH YOU CANNOT SHOW ME YOUNG LEIA AND THINK I WON’T CRY. Oh good. I was about to say “Leia does not seem like the type to enjoy this pampering and getting dressed thing. Yes, she’s definitely princess-like and regal, but this doesn’t feel completely right. Maybe it’s to show the contrast of how they were raised?” but no it’s a decoy. Like mother like daughter. I adore it. Ok there we go. That’s Leia. God I love Breha’s dress. Can I make it... Oh good. The weird elongated original trilogy helmets are back. God I wish I could go back to the 70s and tell that costume designer to not throw those helmets in. Nuh uh. Whoever you are. Get away from my girl Leia. Don’t you even DARE. “When the time comes he must be trained?” “Like you trained his father?” Mmmm. Ahhh. Ughhhhh. *sobbing* That’s the best way I can describe the sounds I made in reaction to that line. I think I reacted the same way from seeing that scene in the trailer too. Oh shit. Wait. WAIT. God I need to go rewatch the prequels. Does Obi-Wan know that Anakin survived Mustafar? Owen doesn’t. Does Obi-Wan? Oh no. Oh no. Wait. Am I going to have to watch Obi-Wan find out that Ani survived and is now Vader? Oh god please tell me I’m misremembering the prequels... Reva’s unhinged. I sorta love it. Oh she’s really unhinged... Good on Owen. “I didn’t do it for you.” Yes you did, a little teeny bit. But also you got a little Jedi boy who won’t stay still  and has a death wish like his father before him, so I get it. I meant to say it earlier, but is Reva a youngling who blames Obi-Wan for not stopping Order 66? That’s my prediction. They had to show us those kids for a reason. I might have to go back and rewatch the scene later. Bail Organa!!! She’s such a daddy’s girl. I am so sad. Just looking at them... I’m so sad. I just gasped seeing C-3PO. But then I remembered we KNOW Bail took the droids. Leia literally sends them. But I’m just stupid. Who is this cousin? I don’t like him. Get him out. Yes Leia read him for filth. Bail is such a good father. I am actually dying. I’m gonna cry.

Ok I need to say I am SO glad we got all these Leia scenes. I’ve always thought that Star Wars is too Luke-heavy (and I adore Luke) and I was worried that this series would be too. But no. So far Leia has had 20 times more screen time. I’m happy.

Nope nope nope. Stay away from my girl. Also do I know this guy? I definitely know this guy. Ok that’s incredibly bad. Ok I need to research something later. But I always wondered how Leia knew Obi-Wan in ANH. And I just assumed that Bail told her to send the message to him and trust him. But does this mean they met prior to ANH? “She is as important as he is.” YES. SHE. IS. Obi-Wannnnnn don’t do this. Go get her. Please don’t tell me both lightsabers are in it. I cannot get over the parallel. I can’t get over the burying of Ani’s lightsaber in the sand of Tatooine.  Star Wars has to stop managing to find good ways to justify things. First the Kessel Run (I’m still mad about that one. I’m so mad they fixed it.). Now justifying Rey burying Ani’s lightsaber because Ben did it before. I wasn’t even that mad about her burying it, I know some fans were, but now they’ve managed to make it a parallel of what Obi-Wan did. I can’t. Murder me, both are in the box. I want to die. Did he... just purposefully show his lightsaber to that lady... confusion...

THAT WAS FLEA. OH MY GOD. I almost put “Is that Flea” in this post when I was saying I knew the actor, but didn’t want to look STUPID if I was wrong. I literally thought to myself “He looks just like Flea... but he can’t be Flea... that can’t be Flea, Hope you’re being dumb.” and convinced myself it wasn’t him. BUT NO IT WAS FLEA. WHAT THE HELL WHY IS FLEA IN THIS.

Seriously why is Flea here? I’m like beyond shook.

Yeah Obi-Wan that was too easy. “I’m surprised you fell for it.” I’m surprised you’re in this show, Flea. I like how one of the extras looks like she’s stepped out of a neon rave in the 2000s. I LAUGHED OUT LOUD. THAT’S MY GIRL. PUNCH THE STRANGE MAN. Obi-Wan. You really should have at least told her your name or something. And Leia my girl, don’t go with strange men just because they say “Your father sent me.” She’s in orange like her mommmmmmmm. Guys this show is gonna murder me. “Shh. Quiet.” Hey Ben, I think the lightsaber hanging from your holster is more obvious than Leia whispering “Are you a Jedi?” She came from the gutter. Sure. She really came from the Jedi Academy and survived Order 66. Still standing by that theory. Yeah, Old Ben, you should have kept on the gas mask and gave one to Leia too. Hide your face. Also why are you dressed in the literal most stereotypically Jedi outfit? I’m sorry. Was that a dinosaur? “Little green cape. You don’t need those!... And the gloves.” This girl is doing a good job embodying Leia. I really felt the spirit of Carrie Fisher when she looked up at Obi-Wan and continued to put on the gloves. Leia my girl. Obi-Wan looks like the most Jedi Jedi ever right now with his robes. He’s not being subtle. “You think the less you say, the less you give away, but it’s really the opposite.” That’s my girl. This green cape gives off RotJ jungle battle vibes and I love it. (No I can’t remember the name of the jungle planet I’m tired and that’s the least of the things I’ve forgotten so far). “This is no ordinary Jedi.” Cause I’m no ordinary girl, I’m from the deep blue underworld. I do not blame Leia in the slightest for running. Obi-Wan, you did not give the girl much reason to trust you. Oh good. Haja’s a real good guy. What is this spinning lightsaber and why does it feel familiar? There goes Flea. Fun but weird to have him around while we did. Could Jedi always read minds... man it’s been at least 3 years since I last watched all the movies. Do I need to brush up on my Star Wars? “Nothing, you just remind me someone.” I know! I knowww. I knowwwwwww. Someone kill me. “You didn’t know? He’s alive.” NOOOOOO. NOOOOOOOO. NOOOOOOOOOOO. This is painful this is hurting me. I am not ashamed to admit that I literally squeaked hearing the mask breathing.

My favorite of all 5 is probably Endsley Reign followed by the Glaminatrix one. Both packed maximum pigment, were easy to blend and see on my chocolate skin tone and they had so many prismatic shimmers! I love shimmers. The most wearable, office appropriate one was sorcerous smoke. I am excited to have a new palette for work travel! The workhorse palette that has both wearable looks hd whimsical looks is the Glaminatrix one. I love makeup!

I was finally able to try out the coloured raine paint base in wheat with all the different formulas to see how it blends. It went very well, got tacky quickly and did not dry out my eye. Was able to try it vs the too faced shadow insurance and they work about the same. I will continue to use both.

Day 90 - at Hemsedal Golf Club

A day based heavily around sport.

It’s the start of the main competition of the T20 World Cup from Australia, so I sandwiched a two hour walk in between the NZ Australia game and the England Afghanistan game.

All followed by the rugby later in the afternoon.

There’s a huge HD TV screen in the Golf Club which I broadcast the Exeter rugby match through.

Out walking, having crossed the dodgy suspension bridge, I met a woman with a young male labradoodle - golden retriever cross. She said he was well-behaved, but it turned out he wasn’t. At just a bit older than me, she is the owner of the town’s taxi business, with 17 cars. She told me that once the season is on, either winter or summer, there are an extra 10,000 people in town. She says she hates it when it’s like that, and despite having considered selling the business up and moving away, she never has. She has two adopted daughters that she has been parent to since they were 5, a Philippine girl aged 17, and a Chinese girl aged 15. She really didn’t sound very happy about life. Maybe I just caught her on a bad day, and she wanted to sound off to some random passer-by.

Chatting with locals is usually a good way to find out a bit about life in the area, but these days, it is necessary to overcome that first hurdle, their humour at our politics should they realise I am British, which obviously, I try not to divulge.

Reading wise, I finished a Ukrainian crime novel, The Night Reporter: A 1938 Lviv Murder Mystery.

Written in the hardboiled dialogue style of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett, it is a fast moving and exhilarating crime story with a strong emphasis on sense of place and period.

Lviv at the time was part of Poland. It was to be invaded by the Nazis the following year, 16 days after the Soviets had invaded. At the time the town’s residents saw the Nazis as some sort to saviours, but that was short-lived. The town’s history, especially in the last hundred years, is enough to fascinate readers, so if Vynnychuk plans follow-ups they would be very welcome.

The plot of the crime part of the novel is nothing special, but the reader is carried along by the brisk pace and the backdrop to which it all pans out. The protagonist, Marko Krylovych, is an investigative journalist who does his research after sunset in the drinking dens of Lviv.

One day in the not too distant future I hope, it will be possible to sit in one of those dens, enjoy a Ukrainian beer, and recall the exploits of Krylovych.

And surely enough, in the case of Assassin’s Creed: Unity even the console releases have reported poor playback with recorded FPS rates averaging in the low 20s.Īnd with Ubisoft’s announcement of console versions being locked at 30 FPS for a more cinematic experience, players were already skeptical before release. That said, it seems a bit ridiculous that it has been apparently so difficult to run the game in a stable manner on PC when the same title is apparently suppose to run without any issues on the Xbox One and PS4, both of which have considerably inferior hardware to most mid-tier rigs. For those less technically inclined, two GTX 980s will run over a thousand dollars alone and are basically the best single-GPU cards currently on the market. However it does bear mentioning that according to the official requirements even a HD 7950 falls short of the minimum listing.Īnd popular Youtube commentator TotalBiscuit even reported that running the game on two SLI’ed GTX 980s wasn’t even enough to get consistently stable performance even with lowered settings. And while my setup is by no means top of the line, my HD 7950 has been able to handle everything I’ve thrown at it until this release with ease running other titles at 1080p at higher settings. In other words it was playable but barely ranging from being sluggish to a glorified flip-book. While much of the furor surrounding its release is specifically due to its technical issues, it is far from the only problem with the game.īut for the sake of full disclosure and to quickly get the technical aspect of the game out of the way, I ran Assassin’s Creed: Unity off an i5-2500k at stock speeds, a HD 7950, with 8GB of RAM at anywhere from 20 to low 40s in FPS (frames per second). However the series has noticeably been on a downward decline, one of which is looking rather bleak with the recent blunder of Assassin’s Creed: Unity which has been universally panned by players and garnered a lukewarm reception from critics.

And yet it has still managed to maintain a certain high standard of quality and consistency across their major releases, of which have become widely beloved by a massive fanbase. With its nearly annual releases, countless other spinoff games and other bits of merchandising, Ubisoft has rather blatantly been milking the property for all its worth. These endings make me dream & even lose my sleep sometimes because as a gamer YES I feel what the character does too! Ubisoft destroyed a wonderful story! Ubisoft needs to address this & give us an alternative ending as an update! Please second this petition in the name of our love & disappointment for Assassin's Creed: Unity.Assassin’s Creed is a somewhat difficult series to properly discuss as it has often contradictorally embodied both sides of the spectrum of what players ultimately want, and what they despise. All of us (AC fans) wanted them to be together in the end so as to see at least one Assassin lead a happy life! So what did we actually pay for if Ubisoft never lets us *actually* complete a game? Secondly this isn't the first time a love interest dies in an AC game is it? Ubisoft should know & respect the fact how gamers get attached to characters (especially romances like Arno & Elise) in a game & the least they should do about it is create an alternate ending or a choice as was given in Far Cry 3 ! I am infuriated at my money being put to waste as a gamer because Elise's death made me feel like I couldn't complete the game! I am very infuriated & grieved. The game's main objective & Arno's LIFE objective was to be together with Elise in the end.
