A busy day today beginning with a zoom call from St. Mary’s University London on the courses they offer as well as an insight into the UCAS application process. Then 30 students accompanied by Ms Cunningham and Mr Hogan visited the Grangegorman campus of TUD as well as Trinity College. At Trinity the group met with Mr Hogan’s former class mate at Kings Inns, Mr Desmond Ryan Associate Professor of Law at Trinity. Finally the day ended with a talk from Mr Brian Rainey past pupil who is now working in the aviation leasing area. Mr Rainey kindly brought along some gifts including a wonderful model airplane that was awarded to Danny Morton who was deemed to have given the best answer to a question posed around the industry by Mr. Rainey. Tomorrow visits to Maynooth University and another speaker coming to visit.

Social Fabric Café is a small and cosy café situated in Dublin 7. It is close to TUD Grangegorman Campus and the Smithfield Luas stop (Red Line). We consider it the perfect place for brunch for students either on a weekend or during a break between lectures.
As their website says they offer "fresh, healthy, and locally sourced meals that will delight and amaze your taste buds". On the menu, it is possible to find meals such as avocado on toast, eggs benedict and vegetarian toasts. The café also offers both cold and hot drinks such as flat white, hot chocolate, smoothies and Irish apple juice.
Social Fabric Café also provides takeaway food for those in a rush, vegetarian options and most importantly, it's pet friendly! 🐶

You will need:
Juice of 1 lime
1 tsp granulated sugar
Small handful mint leaves, plus extra sprig to serve
60ml white rum
Soda water, to taste
step 1
Muddle the lime juice, sugar and mint leaves in a small jug, crushing the mint as you go – you can use the end of a rolling pin for this. Pour into a tall glass and add a handful of ice.
step 2
Pour over the rum, stirring with a long-handled spoon. Top up with soda water, garnish with mint and serve.

(Not So) Hidden Gems on Campus
Are you studying at TU Dublin Grangegorman and looking to save money wherever you can? Well, look no further.
I, like many others, have been blissfully ignorant during my last three years of college to many of the amenities on campus that are being served to us on a silver platter! These are just a few of the budget-friendly options you can avail of if you are a TU Dublin student on any of the city campuses.
Gym Facilities
Find the TU Gym right in the centre of the Grangegorman Campus! With many different options for memberships and classes, there is an option for everyone! Individual classes start at just €3 with the student rate, and memberships start at an incredibly low €20 a month. These facilities are also available to graduates, starting at €5 per class and €35 monthly.
TUD Health Centre
Personally, I find arranging a doctor's appointment around my college timetable to be a lot of hassle. Finding the time to travel to my own doctor over an hour away from campus at an astronomical price is the last thing you want to do when you have essential classes or assignments to get done. Or if you don't want to miss out on *cough*drinkswithyourcollegemates*cough*
TU provides a campus health centre where all of these added stresses just melt away. A consultation with the doctor starts at just €10 - and a consultation with the nurse is FREE!! What more could you want?
All you have to do is call to arrange your consultation and show up with a valid TUD student ID. Keep in mind that if you can't make your appointment, it is important that you rearrange or cancel within 24 hours so as not to lose the fee you paid!
Counselling Services
On a more serious note, it can be highly stressful to find the time and energy to make an appointment for your mental health. If you are struggling, TU offers these services for free on-campus in Rathdown House. They offer one-on-one services either in-person or online, and group services or referrals to other services.

Updated back of postcard

I updated the back of the postcards. I added an address (it will be either the grangegorman campus or the gallery of photography). I will email the Gallery of Photography tomorrow to inquire about postcards being posted to their address. I feel this is appropriate as the exhibition will take place there, there is already a link between the work and the venue. If I cannot use the gallery as the posting address, I will inquire about using the campus address.
I also allowed for more space on the side I want the public to write. I decreased the size of the text on that side (the headline is 8pt, the rest of the text is 6pt) to give further space. I left a space at the right side over the address for the stamp.
