These three idiots are the biological children of the Mother Goddess Theraël, Azran being the youngest. Azran is the Divinity of Abundance and therefore hundreds of golden coins got out of their Mother when they were born.

YES it hurt BUT

Nisis and Gweldas' birth was even worse because, as Gods of Night and Day, they were originally born as the LITERAL MOON AND SUN ??? And they are TWINS ??? Honestly, Theraël almost died and was so badly wounded giving birth to them, that it still hurts from time to time eventhough it's been like 600 years.

Yeaaaah, I don't think the twins are very much hyped about telling their sibling this story...

Every king eventually brings out their own money. The Pendragon crest is naturally on one side, but the King's face normally goes on the other.

And Arthur does that, or intends to. But when he talks to the guy who is meant to get his profile, Arthur can't help but ask what kind of other symbols he could use. At first, he asks if he could put other people on it, then he figures that it would probably be too controversial if he put a face on the coin that isn't his own.

Then he asks if it could be a bird, like his mother's sigil. Originally, he wants to honor her, but then Merlin walks in to gather his clothes and it suddenly strikes him that Merlin has done so much for him, and never gotten any reward.

And Arthur doesn't mean his servant work, Merlin is rubbish at that. But what about his council? His advice? The fact that Merlin always speaks his mind, yet always has Arthur's and Camelot's best interest at heart. The fact that Merlin always goes out of his way to fight alongside Arthur, despite not being a knight.

In an emotional outburst, (after Merlin left again) Arthur orders the coin guy to make the other side of his coin a Merlin.

Right after that, he realizes what he's done and drowns his embarrassment in wine.

A couple weeks later, the money is created and put out into the kingdom. And everyone immediately connects the dots. The symbol is only on the golden one.

The day Merlin finds out is a normal day at first. Only that everyone is staring holes into his head and whispers about him. Merlin has been send to get Arthur's new shirts and hands the tailor a golden coin. He hands it to him, then stops and stares at the crest.

....

Merlin: Arthur???? What the fuck is this?

Arthur: *sweats* your salary?

Uh- I just realized I kinda just... headcannoned my Romanus playing with coin whenever she's bored/agitated. You know, like those tricks people do that I never had the patience to learn. Flipping coin between fingers real fast or switching from one hand to the other, flipping into the air and whatnot? I just kinda, idk, felt like that's somehow canon for sarcastic Romanus and was wondering if they could do that in game?

Charismatic/Sarcastic Romanus is just- Oof. I lowkey wanna romance them, not gonna lie.

I like this headcanon a lot, but it's not something Romanus does in-game because the coin itself is a blasphemy. While most people wouldn't know what they're looking at, all it'd take is one person to understand what it is (or even get a vague suspicion) to report it and thus have the Church on your heels — even more than they already are.

Perhaps once you're out of Tarragona, in the wild, you may slowly start to bring Juturna's gift out of your pocket but… even that will take time to get over Romanus' years-long paranoia.

a fucked up shaunanigan cant be shauna doing something that has actual intelligible reasoning behind it. beating up lottie was not a shaunanigan because it was an understandable (if incredibly violent) expression of grief and anger. eating the ear WAS a shaunanigan because what the fuck? like a shaunanigan has to have an element of “hahah im so randommm teehee :3” and it has to originate from some ridiculously repressed part of her or else its not a shaunanigan its just like. a thing she does.
