Godzilla: Monster Island Summer Camp will be published on August 12 via IDW. The 128-page graphic novel features reunites Godzilla Rivals II: Vs. Battra writer Rosie Knight and artist Oliver Ono.

Aimed at readers 9-12, the story follows a young, aspiring cartoonist to Monster Island, where she makes a connection with the son of Godzilla, Minilla.

As an aspiring cartoonist, Zelda has always dreamed of attending an art summer camp, and this year she finally gets to go! But when she arrives to Make It Summer Camp, she’s horrified to see the easels and sketchboards have been replaced with dodgeball and calisthenics. The camp is under new, suspicious management that’s turned it into an extreme sports nightmare. Determined to salvage her summer, Zelda escapes to a secluded corner of the island. Here she can finally draw in peace. At least until she stumbles into a portal to a fantastic world. Welcome to Monster Island! There she makes a connection with baby kaiju Minilla and discovers the beauty of these legendary creatures. However, all is not well on Monster Island. Great evils are stirring and if Zelda can’t protect their home, the kaiju will unleash their wrath on the world!

colossal footsteps the tremors to trigger earthquake sirens and panic amongst the general public did he make strides to the gingerheaded human's location , boulders asphalt and dirt compacting itself under immense weight . buildings , cars and local fauna were not spared against godzilla's trek , tail knocking corners of structures clean off and leaving nothing unscathed . ever - so - slightly would enormous rex - like foot hover over tiny , ant - sized form , never fully committing to setting that weight down . stilled statue the towering form of nightmare incarnate , that hovered foot reeling back to avoid squashing his microscopic friend .

like cat tail did the beast's own sway at the tip , amber depths a quick flicker downward as he'd regarded her presence ; not unwanted . moments that would pass were mere seconds in the grand scheme of things but would feel to the world an entirety in the presence of something much bigger than themselves . for all intents and purposes , he should have been feared ; he was a god among other living , breathing creatures 'pon the planet humankind sought to make their own out of selfish greed . yet fear had long since passed the young girl's body and perhaps he'd always noted her strength and resilience ; her logic over emotion .

to receive respect was to show it , and he'd not been blind to her own ; whether it were genuine , or perhaps done as a safety precaution so not to get turned into a painting 'pon pavement , he couldn't have cared less . slowly would upper half lower to meet large snout to small human , though gaze would focus itself upon bluebonnet ; unfamiliar with the prospect of earth's local flora . carried in the wind of his breathing did he watch soft petals shift along with red tresses , the tickle of both scents invading the canals of his nostrils . softly would round and wet nose wiggle , the beast chuffing as maw would part for rows of razor - sharp near ivory , the gaps in between the perfect place for her gift .
