On September 16th, Lingming Photonics, a deep tech startup based in Shenzhen, announced that it had completed a Series B financing round of tens of millions of RMB. This financing round was led by Gao Rong Capital, with OPPO, Qunzhi Capital, Chengwei Ventures, and OFO Holdings participating as follow-on investors. According to public records, Lingming Photonics had previously received multiple rounds of investment. It is understood that this round of financing will be used to continue advancing the research and development of advanced dToF sensing technology, attracting top technical talents, and expanding products from consumer electronics to other fields such as solid-state lidar and AR devices. Founded in May 2018 by four returned Ph.D.s from top universities, Lingming Photonics is dedicated to providing high-performance dToF depth sensor chips for applications such as smartphones, lidar, robots, VR/AR devices using its independently developed SPAD (single-photon avalanche diode) detectors, which are world-leading in single-photon detection technology. It is reported that in October 2020, Lingming Photonics received investment from Xiaomi's Shanghai CRR Investment. 3D sensing technologies are expanding into cutting-edge applications in consumer electronics, automotive electronics, and industrial control, among which dToF technology (direct time-of-flight) based on SPAD (single-photon avalanche diode) is the most advanced in the 3D sensing field, using light pulse flight (round-trip) time detection to obtain the distance to target objects and thus achieve 3D imaging of objects. Thanks to its superior ranging capabilities, power efficiency and anti-interference capabilities, this technology has increasingly attracted attention from the industry in recent years. In particular, in 2020, after Apple released the iPhone with a dToF imaging solution (Lidar Scanner), and Sony released an automotive lidar solution equipped with a dToF solution, the market demand for advanced dToF imaging chips exploded. In July 2021, Lingming Photonics officially launched its independently developed dToF single-photon imaging sensor, codenamed ADS3003, using advanced global backside stacking process technology, with comprehensive performance reaching world-class levels, providing groundbreaking solutions for high-end consumer electronics, lidar, and other 3D perception applications. This is also the first domestic dToF sensor chip using 3D stacking technology. As of now, there are less than 5 companies worldwide known to have introduced 3D stacked dToF chip products. The Lingming Photonics ADS3003 chip has a physical resolution of 240*160, a die size of 0.35 inches, with indoor ranging up to 26 meters and outdoor ranging up to 10 meters, and a maximum frame rate of 60fps, achieving sub-centimeter ranging accuracy and depth resolution over the full range, meeting demands from smartphones, AR devices, robotic vacuums, smart homes, IOT, and industrial measurement fields. Lingming Photonics has also launched dToF module solutions based on this chip together with OFO Microelectronics, providing samples and test kits to customers. The chip currently has initial mass production capabilities.

In July 2017, after a strategic partnership of Zecotek Photonics Inc. with EBO optoelectronics, Zecotek received an order worth US$ 1.2 million for their patented LFC scintillation crystals. Zecotek focused on improving their product’s technology and their presence in China with this partnership.
