The (Temporary) End of the Podcast
I had been doing a podcast called "Geektionary" for the last year, which is why I almost entirely stopped updating this. It took time, and if I'm honest, I'd much rather record and produce audio than write a blog. So I made the choice to mostly abandon this about a year ago to focus on my show.
It had been being hosted by a group out of Montreal with the name "The Radio Station." Despite the name, they were good people. It was ran by a real solid guy named Patrick, who paid for the hosting out of his own pocket. And dammit, the shows were fairly successful. We were even featured as one of the fastest growing podcast networks on our hosting site, Spreaker.
An interview was done! (http://blog.spreaker.com/blog/2012/10/31/discovering-the-community-the-radio-station/)
My show was one of the featured shows one week! (http://blog.spreaker.com/blog/2012/11/05/this-week-on-spreaker-gamerstable-the-hawk-smartphone-news-and-geektionary/)
Ah, mild, unpaid success. It was sweet and heady, like a tasty mead.
But just a couple days ago, Patrick announced that he could no longer support the station. We had no sponsors, no incoming money, it was all him and his passion. But the network was regularly mired in irritating and unnecessary personal and professional problems. Personal problems can't be helped, life is a series of those. But the professional ones, from what I understood, were mostly senseless and stupid, as they tend to be.
I've got two potential futures for the shows return already, and I'm looking for more. Currently, I'm unable to fund it myself, despite how cheap it is, due to financial issues of the past. But yeah, totally a temporary problem. I am confident and positive. In the meantime, you can listen to the episodes on iTunes, for now at least. Not sure if they'll remove it, not sure if it works that way. Hopefully I can get back control of that in the future.
And hopefully my next network's number one show won't be about baseball, hosted by someone as sexist and racist. Seriously, what a dick.

Today I'm a guest on my friend Corey Hales' podcast. Tune in to "Geektionary" to listen to me awkwardly ramble about NASA for 45 minutes.
