just had a small epiphany about aziraphale and his reading glasses in the 1941 scene. the way he fidgets with them. as @froggierboy pointed out in their post, aziraphale does (of course) not need them, never has and never will, they're just there for the Aesthetic™. but in that scene arguably they also serve as a mirror to Crowley and his glasses!! if you watch the scene where they return to the shop, where he's all happy, looking for magic books, and then twirls around and says "oh not at all, that's what... friends... are for" -- his glasses are down, in that moment, both figuratively and literally speaking. but then he stumbles over the word friend, looks down, and puts them back on. acting choices were made!!!!!!
