Homeworld ttrpg campaign Map
For the Campaign I had the desire to make a complete map of the Homeworld galaxy, and I do mean COMPLETE. I started out with the obvious things: The same Galaxy image used in the game, the loading screens as basis for the exiles path from Kharak to Hiigara, with all the land marks in between. Next I tried to read all avaliable source material for who else is there, of course there was the Bentusi and Turanic Raiders, but they were everywhere and nowhere. The Taiidan are there, both imperial remnants and the Republic establishing itself. The Tobari were mentioned by name, having border disputes with the Taiidan and of course somewhere somehow the the Vaygr are around, expanding slowly. Which only leaves us to come up with the whole god damned rest of the galaxy and the Galactic council. None of the original sources help with that much. Even the TTRPG book mentions: "oh yeah, the council is there, they're comprised of lots of civilisations" -"That's great! Can you give us some specifics about them ? names? The ships they use? their cultures and beliefs? maybe a map or description where they are?" "...nah, make it up Fam" And so I did. I did talk with Norsehound, who has historically made tons of maps for the Homeworld Fandom and even writes for Homeworld Mobile, as well as having had a hand in the ttrpg Rulebook. From that I got his permission to make use of his map material as well and with that I fleshed out the galactic map of the Homeworld universe to my liking.
Tumblr media
This is the current version of the map. every little white dot is a place of interest/star system/space station that can be visited by the players. This map does not yet include all the secret stuff. The hyperspace gates, the Progenitor Relics, the hidden pirate bases, maybe even the Biest... As for the civilisations comprising the galactic council, I have made a lot of sketches and will flesh out more and more of them as I go along. I'll get to them specifically in the next post.

Just read the blog banner and description. I'll use this pinned post as a list of my OCs.
Jax and perhaps Springtime, you both know the rules I put for asks. And if you don't, reread the rules on @the-cookies-of-darkness blog.
More OC tags
OC List under cut
OCs:
Expo, a Sphinx Cat that is half void, and is extremely powerful because of that. He's a bit witty but all-in-all loves adventuring. Lost his mom soon after his birth and his father died in The Great Void War.
Luna The Werewolf Queen. She's a werewolf queen and can command werewolves. She, unlike other werewolves, is not weak to sliver. You'll find her backstory depressing, but I'm keeping a little mystery for now. She typically wears a special gold necklace that keeps her in a between-form. She just looks like a white wolf but her front paws are hand shaped. She's a bit self-conscious about her full werewolf form and doesn't go into it unless necessary. Yes, in the between-form she walks on all 4s.
Vinnie the Velociraptor. He's a Velociraptor from the dream realm and can enter others dreamrelms while they're asleep. He's kinda dumb but in a funny way, though he takes his 'job' to save others from nightmare seriously. He miraculously came from the dream realm of Sky The Cloud Warrior, in which in the realm he though Sky died and had a whole existential crisis when he became real.
Nameless, he does not know exactly what he is, even his own name was a bit of a misunderstanding but he kept it anyways. He stays around special rainbow crystals that keep him 'powered up', though he can still make more if given the energy. Here's some art of him by @maskoni-five. He's basepart wolf, has owl wings, aardvark claws in front, basilisk legs in back, a camel hump, and the venomous bite of a gila monster. His favorite food is eggs.
Tumblr media
Blacky The Void Demon. He's not exactly a "demon", demon is just the void's word for powerful, like the void's word for the world outside the void is "Osega". He has a pet Shadow Beast named Beastie. He also has a complex backstory, involving him loving somebody who his dad did not allow and (his dad)causing The Great Void War. He left out of hatered of his dad and gained enough power to be able to survive the osega without having to possess anyone, granting him rank of Void Demon. He'd be willing to share his knowledge about what lives in the void. Here's his ref.
Tumblr media
Fiqunzur: A full on species of mythical bests I have made. They can shapeshift and fit through even the tightest of gaps, and have the magpie's tendency to just take anything shiny or that they find neat. I'll likely be using Fritz and his two kids, Atsen(male) and Zemryu(female). Fritz's partner was murdered by the superstitious folk, but his kids don't know that. Here's what they looks like typically
Tumblr media
(Yes, my pfp is Blacky petting one)
Shadow Beasts. I've already introduced the jist of them on @the-cookies-of-darkness but I'm thinking of moving Raider, Silho, and Buddy here. They're shadowy lions, basically, though their temperament changes on how they grow up. Without supervision (or supervision of ferals), they grow up a feral apex predator. When treated like a person, they grow up acting like a person and are capable of speech, though still stand on all 4s(Raider, Silho, and Buddy as examples). And when treated like a pet, they'll act like a mix of a cat and a dog, Beastie being an example of this. They're weak to attacks of "pure light". Which they describe as "something you can see that does not cast a shadow". AKA mostly just fire. Their scratches typically leave permanent black marks, and when one dies they are reborn. Though they can still have the more 'traditional' kids way. They're all one gender but it still takes two. The ferals have been known for taking over universes.
Sola and Quasar are two space-patterned technically aliens. Sola looks like a and is about the size of a Songbird, while Quasar is a large and powerful-looking dragon. The two are in love. They refuge in this galaxy to hide from a Tyrant in their home one. Quasar, despite looking powerful, the most power he has is the strength due to his size, the typical dragon fire-breath (but, ya'know, at will), and technically being able to move at Faster Than Light speeds, but he's actually a big softie who loves to make cookies(for eating, which might cause awkwardice when confronting cookie run characters.) Sola is a bit more willing to talk about the tyrant dictator of their home multiverse, but is clearly still scared to talk about them. She's a bit more introverted and only really feels comfortable around Quasar. She's prone to nightmares.
Sybeny, said Tyrant Dictator. I do not intend for her to show up yet, but I am at least writing her name down. The warning I have: Do not let her cuteness fool you. That's exactly how she gets you.
Cannibal, one of my Just Shape and Beats OCs. His home world's treeangle had a star on top that often kept our cannibalistic friend fed, but after a lot of trouble and the world starting to fade, he and 2 remaining others had to leave. Will Of Fire (will be referred to as "Will") made the mech and infused his soul into it, giving the mech his ability to make golden fire that has like a midus touch effect. However, it did not have enough time to charge with solar power, so Cannibal grabbed his other remaining friend Fusion, who was already in a comatose state, and put him into the backup power source spot and managed to flee the world before it faded. Fusion will ne near impossible to wake up again unless another star-topped treeangle is found, Will's soul does have some mild influence in the mech, but Cannibal is the main guy controlling it. He controls it all from the head portion like that scene in Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 where Berry controls the sentinel of safety suit. He can leave the suit if he wants, but usually only opens the visor to eat, and only ever leaves to go to the bathroom. But here's a ref of him outside the humanoid mech suit! Due to not having a star treeangle piece to keep giving him the required food he needs, he usually eats cacti as it's the closest to what he could eat in home world that lives up to his cannibalistic instincts(as long as it works to keep him from self-cannibalism, that's what he's concerned about). He is not corrupted, he is just naturally pink.
Tumblr media
Fusion, another Just Shapes and Beats OC. When not able to be powered by a treeangle, Fusion will be in a comatose ball form that's all rainbow-y that constantly leaks energy. When powered by a treeangle, Fusion is a force to be reckoned with. With powers from each boss from Just Shapes and Beats with looks to boot, he is essentially a demigod. He takes his job to protect the innocent very seriously. Sometimes even too seriously. Threaten anyone he deems innocent, you're in for a bad time. If he's in a good mood, you'll likely just be punted. In a bad mood? Better start praying to what gods you believe in. His favorite attack is lasers, which he, like annihilate, can shoot from his mouth. He can also summon things like sawblades and scythes, fire and spider webbing. Arms can also detach and regrow like Blixer/Fresh/whatever you call the main boss guy.
Tumblr media
Quinton the Hydra. Good friend of Luna's, ended up in a minecraft world that's basically single-biome of cherry grove. So has gotten used to eating cherries, pigs, and sheep. Ironically, when I first made him I imaged him looking like the hydra from minecraft's Twilight Forest mod. He's kinda goofy, with his center head being in control, and the other heads tend to not exactly care, which leads him to limp now-and-then when the other heads are lazy and sleeping. He does take his job as a guardian seriously, however. He's covered in scars, though at least it seems people are smart enough to not cut any of his heads off. He calls his other heads Lefty and Righty
Swifty the Jagfox. She lives in the trees and is very quick in them, that's even how she got her name! And her jaguar spots help her camouflage. Was also in the cherry grove world. She tries to be friendly, but sometimes her hunting instincts take over. (Drawing was made when I was still, like, a freshman in highschool and was starting to get into drawing, so don't judge how bad it is :b)
Tumblr media
Silver the Giant Snake. She's an albino Burmese Python who is slightly bigger than a Reticulated Python. She's sometimes seen like the mom of the group, she's kind and caring, but can do the 'I'm not mad I'm disappointed' attitude. Sadly and ironically, she's infertile. She did take care of a baby turtle named Ellipse for a while before the shadow beast invasion, in which Ellipse was killed in front of her, which has caused her to be a little more depressed. Ellipse was friends with Swifty. She ended up in the Cherry Grove world
MINOR (for now) OCS:
Sky The Cloud Warrior. I do not intent on having him be very relevant other than being Vinnie's 'dad'. He's retired and loves pizza parties, though he gets his nickname "The Cloud Warrior" for a good reason. He lives on the top of a mountain. Here's a ref with a little bit of info on it(Via a very inexperienced OC maker past me). The clouds he makes are always the perfect comfortable temperature and he can choose whether or not they're tangible.
Tumblr media
Plobettba(Goes by "Plob" for short). I don't intend for her to actually show up in a long time, but she will be mentioned by Expo and the others. She's a cyborg dragon with the ability to melt planets, and only the metal on her could resist such high temperatures. She's killed her maker, Snatg(which is a shorting of "Snatgbbgu"(back when I was obsessed with Rot13 names lol), he was a mix of an Okapi and a Rhino, and is a more horrible and powerful tyrant than Sydeny could ever dream to be.), and has the source of his power on her. She's currently residing in the center of a star about a thousand lightyears away in hypersleep mode, and has connections to Expo if she wakes up and wants to talk, or if something goes horribly, horribly wrong to the point she can't handle it alone.
Qwarkon, The Blood Moon's Ghost. He's a weather elemental that looks ghost-like, though he can only seem to charge up his powers at night when the moon is out, and when he charges up, anyone nearby sees the moon turn to look like a blood moon. So he kinda typically stays away from the crowd and usually can't get himself the confidence to start a conversation.
Fred. He's just a grouchy scrooge Komodo Dragon who would kill just for peace and quiet.
These four. Not adding as much info as I've already shared it all in DMs with Jax and I'm pretty sure it's just me and him on this blog lol
Tumblr media
Phantasma the Ghost. He's a humanoid wolf-panther mix who is, of course, a ghost. His tail is completely clipped off and he has no idea what happened to it. He's a quiet guy who enjoys the little things. His favorite thing to do is watch Fireflies, which he hadn't done in a long time due to first being stuck underground and then being stuck in the cherry grove world (even if Minecraft added Fireflies, they would've only been in swamps). He is lacking a good chunk of his memories, and only remembers that he died due to his best friend betraying him and thus doesn't trust easily.

Weird note from my SiFi setting:
When dealing the the secessionist raiders during the Unification Crisis, the first real successes the Terran Federation had was launching mining drones at enemy carriers (with the safeties removed).
The drones "Mined" the enemy ships for materials, and lead to needed resource boons for the defence effort.
This eventually lead to the first Mechanized Boarding Armour/Mechs, which allowed now experienced federation warriors to take the fight directly to the "Ever Dawn Kingdoms".

Note: Since my old masterlist is getting notes again (and I'm hosting @tbb-appreciation-week this year), I thought it's a good time to release a new version with a lot more resources. If any of you know another site or thing that it's missing from the list, let me know and I'll include it!! [Altho, I'm getting this close 🤏 to the hyperlinks limit on this thing 😆]
Note 2: To avoid tagging the 3 people from whom I got multiple resources repeatedly, I've placed 1-3 asterisks between square brackets after the links, depending on the OP. I give the respective credit to them in a legend at the end of the post.

WRITING IN GENERAL (For those who don't want to die like Stormtroopers)
SlickWrite: Completely free; online. Checks grammar, punctuation, flow, and writing style according to different settings (including fiction writing).
ProWritingAid: [RECOMMENDED] One of the most thorough online proofreader I've ever used. Although when using a free account gives extremely thorough feedback, with +20 different in-depth reports, for only the first 500 words. However, you can earn a premium account license (for a year or for life) if you get 10 or 20 new users signing up for free; (if you wouldn't mind doing so using the link above and help me earn mine, please). The settings allow you to check your writing according to your needs, from general to formal to creative. It has a bonus that you can check depending on the genre you're writing. For example, in creative, you can choose romance or sci-fiction (there are 14 sub-genre in total). And just like google docs, you can share a document, and people can view, comment or edit it too.
LanguageTool: [RECOMMENDED] Another excellent proofreader. It also has a word limit in free accounts, but if you use the add-on for Google Docs, it counts each page as a new document, so hitting the word limit is nearly impossible. It helps you to rewrite a sentence (3 a day), even if it doesn't raise any flags; it's very useful for when your sentence is grammatically correct, but it doesn't feel quite right.
Grammarly, Hemingway Editor: No so great, but they do the basic job.

Codywan Reverse Bang
It’s that time of year! Here’s my contribution to the @codywanreversebang. It’s an enemies to maybe lovers story in an alternate universe where Cody and the clones were raised to serve the Empire and fight the Jedi. Read the fic below or on AO3.
Check out the amazing art by @cmarani linked here. And thanks to the mods for the extra time!
~~
Pain.
It radiated out from his abdomen, burning shards of agony shredding through his stomach and liver, splitting open his rib cage, and leaving his heart only just beating. The pain was far too familiar and no less agonizing than before. It was almost unfair that the agony of plasma cutting through skin and organs never seemed to lessen no matter how many times he endured it.
Cody was fairly certain he was screaming, or at the very least, yelling for a medic, but there were no medics here, no surgical wings equipped specifically to treat clones, no specialists standing at the ready to ensure the army lost none of its leadership.
He had long expected to die in battle. Not like this certainly, but it was a fact he had accepted a long time ago. Still, it was a shame. He had rather hoped that after dealing with the band of raiders, he would have enough credits to take a few months off and settle somewhere quiet, away from the roiling political shitstorm of the Core.
Blurry faces appeared in his vision. More pain lanced through his side - someone was touching him, trying to staunch the flow of blood where the blackened skin had broken open.
Cody tried to push them away. He’d rather die quickly, without the added pain of treatment, but his arms were caught and pulled aside.
Jumbled voices filled his ears, trying to calm him, but nothing could soothe him the way his brothers could. Their voices always meant help was coming, help was here, even if help was impossible, at least he would die in someone’s arms.
He thrashed violently when they moved him, nearly escaping their grasp, before they pinned him firmly to a stretcher.
More jumbled words, more soothing voices filtered through the pain. Something about healing, something about debt. No, he did not like the sound of that at all.
“Stop--” his voice slurred, then failed him entirely as he hacked at the blood suddenly filling his throat. The sickly sweet scent of bacta flooded his nostrils before it poured into his sinuses.
In the Core or in a medical bay, he would have inhaled deeply, allowing the mist to reach his lungs and staunch the bleeding until surgery could be completed.
But out here, bacta was worth more than the few thousand credits in his bank account. Certainly more than these people had paid him for this job.
How much would they demand in return?
How many years of service would they deem an acceptable exchange for saving his life?
This would never end, would it? He barely escaped the clutches of the Empire before they snatched back what little freedom they had offered the clones as thanks for fighting the war. And even then, he had to fight tooth and nail just to keep what bare semblance of choice he had.
“Breath,” the healer repeated again, this time just as someone else pressed on his wound. He screamed again, wheezed in another breath, and felt the bacta soothe the burning tissues even as he tried to cough it back up.
It was already too late, but he couldn’t give up.
He couldn’t--
The sunlight vanished and he found himself indoors, somehow. They were still hours away from the village, he had been certain of that. It’s why he had laid his trap here, where no one was supposed to get hurt.
They were gentle as they placed him back on the floor, but it did little to stop the blinding pain.
And then the chanting began.
Cody would have sighed if he had breath to spare. He knew this village was a little off - most groups isolated for long enough tended to diverge from the galactic norm at least slightly - but he hadn’t thought a cult was flourishing here. And it certainly was, judging by the sudden appearance of glittering white and gold robes swirling throughout the room.
Well, at least whenever their supposed god failed to save his life, Cody would die free. There wasn’t much more he could ask for at this point.
Metal clanked and then hands were on him. They lay upon his side and moved outwards, the pain numbing with each pass of their hands over the torn skin.
Cody wondered idly what painkiller they were using. There were more than a few on the market that acted so quickly, but they were extraordinarily expensive. Perhaps some crop had those properties. He had seen stranger things in the galaxy.
Still, it didn’t matter. No painkiller would save his life, just ease his passing. That had been an unheard of luxury to the clones; it had never made sense to waste resources on the dying. But lying here, on the receiving end, he thought it would have been justified to spare even a half dose to his brothers clutching their spilled guts in their hands.
Cody squinted upwards and caught a glimpse of brilliant blue eyes before his vision blurred again, too accosted by agony to focus on anything.
Some memory tickled at the back of his mind. Something important. Something--
He screamed through another wave of pain, even as the painkillers fought to soothe it. It wasn’t enough.
“Breath,” the man said. Now, there was a soothing - familiar? - voice. Yes, it had the same Coruscanti lilt of the Empire’s senators and bootlickers that had spent a lifetime trying to keep Cody enslaved, but this voice reminded him of the rare specialists that had visited medical frigates to conduct more complex surgeries than the clones were trained for.
It was one of those specialists that had stitched his brain back together after his skull had been cracked open. She hadn’t said much, but she had allowed Rex in during his recovery to ease his back awake from the anesthesia.
He hadn’t realized such an act was normal to so much of the galaxy, that this was only a hint of the kindness natborns showed each other on a day to day basis that was so often denied to the clones.
There were a lot of things he hadn’t realized back then.
Cody closed his eyes and allowed his body to relax as the pain continued to fade. Really, there was no harm in falling asleep. In all likelihood, he wouldn’t wake up again, but that was okay.
Maybe he’d finally get to see Rex again.
--
Pain was there when he woke up, but it was the light glaring into his eyes that drew him to wakefulness. Cody groaned and covered his eyes, too tired to consider moving out of the sunbeam. His whole body ached, but some of the supposed god’s painkiller must still be in his bloodstream because he didn’t feel the need to scream through the agony.
He was almost comfortable. The floor beneath him was plushily carpeted and a pillow was tucked under his head. Someone had wiped the blood off his face and hands and removed his armor to make room for the bandages wrapped around his torso.
He felt much better than he should, considering.
A blaster bolt to the chest was a death sentence, more often than not. In triage scenarios, it was too time intensive a surgery to be performed when so many others were in just as much danger. Even outside the chaos of a mass casualty event, it was a risky procedure on the best of days since surgeons were permanently in short supply.
Really, the only option was a Jedi healer.
But they were all long dead. Cody had made sure of that - had even once reveled in destroying the Empire’s enemies and facing a cunning opponent. He would have laughed at the irony of it all if the ghosts did not weigh so heavily on him.
The light in his eyes abruptly dimmed with the rustle of a curtain. Footsteps approached, accompanied by the soft clink of - a chain?
Carefully, Cody squinted into the dim light to find the supposed god haloed by what light still filtered in through the curtains.
“Hello again, Commander,” the god said and what little warmth Cody had felt in his bones turned to ice.
Obi-Wan Kenobi. Jedi master. The last knight of Alderaan, the savior of Christophsis, the guiding light of the Hyperion Cluster. The reaper, as his brothers called him. The man had a thousand names to accompany his own, dozens of titles to commemorate his victories against the Empire before Cody had finally outmaneuvered him.
The Empire had heralded the day as a great victory.
But too many brothers had lain dead at his feet.
Because Cody had to win, damn the consequences.
“You’re--” Cody choked on the rest of his sentence. Of course, Kenobi was alive. Of course, he was here, of all places, pretending to be a god, when Cody had no blaster at his side, no army at his back. Cody doubted he could even land a punch if Kenobi were to so helpfully place himself within range.
Kenobi would take his revenge.
And Cody wouldn’t be able to lift a finger to stop him.
He was free - from the Empire, from the smugglers that had gotten him off Coruscant in exchange for five years of his life, from the bounty hunters the Empire had sent after their most famous deserter. No more army, no more regulations, no more collars wrapped tight around his neck.
Cody deserved to die for what he did. His heart knew that even as he ran from it, too terrified still to dare recall that day.
He just wanted a little more time.
Just--
Kenobi smiled at him, but it wasn’t the blazing, flirtatious smile Cody had gotten to know over the battlefield. There was something too knowing in those eyes, too aware of everything Cody had done, every corpse he had left in his wake. And yet there was no hate in his gaze.
Cody looked away.
“I didn’t know the Empire allowed for armor paint,” Kenobi said.
The gold stripes painted on his armor were certainly not regulation. Neither was the hair curling over the tops of his ears or the dusting of stubble across his cheeks that he hadn’t bothered to shave. The blaster he usually carried wasn’t standard issue nor were the few hesitant strokes of polish on his nails and the single piercing he had gotten during a drunken evening on the streets of Nar Shadda.
Each small deviation had felt unforgivable. For days, he couldn’t help but look over his shoulder, certain he would be caught and reprimanded - or worse. Not even deserting had cranked his paranoia so high.
But no one had said anything. His brothers hadn’t been waiting behind every corner to arrest him. Local security hadn’t even given him a second glance for so obviously flaunting the rules that the clones had never lived a day without.
“They don’t,” Cody said.
The silence stretched on.
“I don’t serve the Empire anymore.”
The words felt like an apology.
They weren’t.
“I see,” Kenobi said. The Jedi certainly did not - could not - see what Cody meant. But Cody wasn’t in the mood to clarify. Not to him.
Again, the Jedi’s gaze fell on him, searching for something, though Cody could not guess what. Too often he had borne the brunt of Kenobi’s piercing gaze and the too-knowing look in his eye that usually meant he was a dozen steps ahead of Cody and would be walking away from their confrontation without even igniting his saber.
It was strange now to realize how little stood between them. No armies, no politics, no strategies. It was just the two of them.
And all the bodies they left in their wake.
The Jedi remained still, far from Cody’s side and his twitchy trigger finger. His blaster was probably out in the field where he fell or maybe Kenobi had finally had the good sense to disarm his opponents before trying to sweet talk them.
He had tried to shoot the Jedi in the face on more than one occasion. It never landed, but it had always been satisfying to startle Kenobi out of whatever tangent he had travelled down and allow Cody to make a break for it before the Jedi’s word could sink too deeply in his mind.
“I need to change your bandages,” Kenobi said. He had the good sense not to approach, but Cody wasn’t sure how long that would last. If he was intent on saving Cody’s life, he would do it, one way or another. Because alone, Cody was no match for a Jedi. Especially a Jedi like Kenobi.
“Would you rather change them yourself?” Kenobi asked, a single eyebrow twitching almost into his characteristic smirk before it disappeared.
Cody scowled, but there was no way to change the bandages himself. He was almost willing to try anyway if he wasn’t guaranteed to rip back open what the bacta and Kenobi’s Force had begun to heal.
“Go ahead,” Cody said, trying not to feel as if he were surrendering. The battle was already over. He lost. Now, he could only hope for the mercy Cody had not once shown to Kenobi’s people.
Kenobi’s hands were quick and sure. He removed the soiled bandages and bacta patches before replacing them with fresh gauze and a new layer of bacta. Cody idly wondered at the cost of it all, before realizing it was probably beyond his ability to repay at this point. Besides, his life was in Kenobi’s hands now. His financial woes were the least of his concerns.
“You should be healed enough to leave in a few days,” Kenobi said as he finished. “The organs still need time to heal and you’re still at risk for infection, but you’re out of the woods. You’ve got your remarkable healing abilities to thank for that.”
Kenobi had already started talking about something else before the words finally caught up to Cody.
“You’d let me leave?” Cody asked. It felt like a trap to ask, but Cody had always thought it best to spring the trap rather than let it close when he least expected.
Kenobi shrugged. “I have no quarrel with you Commander, unless you feel inclined to dig up old grudges.”
The sentiment was so obviously a lie it was almost laughable. Kenobi was clearly trying to lull him into some false sense of security. Cody would not fall for it.
“And the town?” Cody asked.
“I don’t believe they have taken issue with you.”
Cody scowled, then looked away. Of course, the Jedi wouldn’t even have a proper answer. He had lived too long assured that his needs would be met, that medicial supplies would not be withheld as bartering chips or punishment. He wouldn’t even know what Cody was asking.
“Commander,” Kenobi said. There was a touch of steel in his voice, the hint of the general Cody remembered bleeding through. “I’m afraid I am not particularly involved in local politics. I cannot answer your question without the relevant information.
“I can’t--” Cody steeled himself. “I can’t afford the bacta treatments.”
The bacta treatments should have been his right after the war ended. He was supposed to have his citizenship, backpay, and medical care to cover the plethora of injuries he had sustained over the war. Even as a soldier, bacta was readily available. It was cheaper than fulltime surgeons. And once the Empire established a monopoly, they had as much as they needed while the civilian market struggled.
But even as he lamented the loss, he realized too late what he had revealed.
“You deserted,” Kenobi said.
“No!” Cody snapped, but the truth rang too loud to be ignored. His cheeks burned with shame, still just as fresh as it was ten years ago.
“There are people out there that can help you build a life away from the Empire, Commander. Help you get your feet on the ground, maybe--”
“I don’t want your help, Jedi. I just want to be left alone.”
“It’s a little late for that,” Kenobi said.
“I know.”
The silence between them stretched on. It was not the silence Cody had grown to know in the moments before battle nor the silence of the barracks when most had already gone to bed. It was not the sort of silence that begged to be broken, nor the kind that must not be. It was simply the space between breaths, stretched out a moment too long.
“Do you know why the Jedi fought in the war?” Kenobi asked, apparently oblivious to Cody’s own desire to never discuss the war or the Empire, but he supposed it was a fairly neutral question. Better than Kenobi asking after him.
They both knew the answer the propaganda fed them - greed, power, madness. Even the Alliance had gradually begun to turn their back on the Jedi; for all great feats the Jedi accomplished, the lives they saved, their abilities only served to alienate them from the general public.
Cody didn’t provide an answer, though he had a guess or two. One couldn’t learn to predict their enemies’ moves without knowing their motivations.
“We can feel the galaxy’s suffering. Not just the feelings of the people near us, but the actual weight of every sentient life that has ever lived or will ever live. Their feelings leave an imprint on the Force that echoes through time,” Obi-Wan said. “Every day, we wake up to a billion voices begging for help. By night, there are just as many, no matter how many lives we save. But we can’t stop trying.”
It was certainly not the official answer - that they were honor bound to restore the peace, to restore freedom and justice to a galaxy rapidly destabilizing under the ever expanding grip of the Empire - but it rang true in the way Kenobi’s words rarely did.
And yet it made no sense.
“Isn’t that an exercise in futility?” Cody asked.
“Perhaps,” Kenobi said. He paused to look down at his shaking hands. Cody wondered vaguely when that had developed. “For what it’s worth, I am sorry for what happened, Commander. You and your brothers deserved more than to fight a war that was not your own. And if you don’t mind me asking, I would very much like to know why you fought at all. Because you are certainly not mindless, obedient droids, no matter what your Senate claims.”
Cody could easily give him the official answer - citizenship, honor, duty, training. The list went on for miles, all of it dedicated to lofty ideals that the Empire claimed to uphold. But they all knew that was crap from the beginning.
Honor hadn’t kept him on Coruscant when the Empire declared war again mere days after they had finally defeated the Alliance. Duty hadn’t freed him of what he had done, of the ghosts that haunted his steps.
But love did.
At least, it used to. Before the death reports trickled in, before the numbers tallied up faster than Cody could track. Before his brothers stopped looking him in the eye, stopped trusting him to watch their back.
Before he had sacrificed hundreds of his brothers to win a war none of them cared about.
Before he had killed Rex.
It had been the right choice, tactically speaking. A few hundred brothers fed into the meat grinder, so that the rest of them could finally have the freedom to live, to breathe, to take whatever life they wanted and make it their own.
It had been love that drove his hand.
And love was why his brothers hated him - because they would have rather kept fighting than see their brothers slaughtered.
Because at war, they were together. United. Purposeful.
Without it…
“We were made for it,” Cody said.
It felt like a lie.
It had to be.
Kenobi collected the soiled bandages and disappeared from Cody’s eyeline. His instincts made a half-hearted attempt at panicking, but Cody was too tired to consider the danger. Kenobi was right; he would never have the quiet life he desired, never be at peace while his brothers were still enslaved by the Empire.
And yet none of them would ever desert - they were too loyal to each other to even consider it. And the promise of citizenship, of being acknowledged as a sentient, free people had been motivation enough to prevent their more scheming minds from finding them some way out.
But it was a lie. Just like every damn thing Cody had ever believed. Over and over he found himself living with the consequences of the lies the Empire told - that they were bringing peace to the galaxy, that they were doing something good, that the clones would be rewarded for their work, that they would all be free someday.
Only a few years alone had revealed the truth to him.
And with the truth, came the horror of what he had done - the blood he and his brothers had left in their wake. But much stronger than guilt, was frustration.
It had all been pointless. All the brothers that died for a better life, all the lives he had sacrificed: they were never going to be given their freedom.
He heard the clank of a chain again as Kenobi returned. He looked almost as bad as Cody was feeling: his face was gaunt, his skin almost gray, his eyes red. More than that, he looked exhausted.
“What are you doing here?” Cody asked. Kenobi was in hiding, certainly. All the Jedi (what remained of them) were. Cody had been quite efficient at wiping out their network of support. But Jedi didn’t go into hiding as gods - rumors traveled too quickly of such things. Even out here, far from most hyperspace lanes, on a planet that disdained outsiders, rumors should have spread eventually. And yet he was; alive and untouched by the hunters that had burned their way through the galaxy for years now.
Kenobi had always been the exception to the rule - too clever, too manipulative, too proud. It was what made him a great general, how he inspired devotion in his troops, how he could convince them to trust even his most ridiculous plans.
It’s why he had been the Empire’s greatest enemy, why Cody had been tasked with slaughtering his battalion, his allies, down to the last member. He had succeeded when no one else had, but never managed to track down the Jedi’s starfighter after they shot it out of the sky.
“The whole galaxy thinks you’re dead,” Cody said.
“I almost was,” Kenobi said. “I was caught in the hyperspace slipstream of a cruiser before I was spat out here, no comms, no support, not even a general idea of where I might be. I walked for days to find civilization, and when I did, it was under attack. I revealed myself as a Jedi to defend the town, but I was shot twice in the process and brought here to heal.”
The Jedi came to Cody’s side with a tray of biscuits and a glass of infused water that shimmered almost blue in the dim light.
“You should eat,” Kenobi said.
“It’s been ten years,” Cody said.
Kenobi didn’t answer. There was something terribly close to guilt in his eyes, but more than that, Cody finally glimpsed his freezing anger.
Good. It was about time they stopped this pointless, slow dance around each other.
“Kenobi--”
“What do you think happened, Commander?” Kenobi asked. “No matter how many times we offered you and your brothers a way out of slavery, you spit in our face. You destroyed our Temple, you developed the protocols for the killing squads, you ensured we had nowhere to run. And then when we were practically beaten, you gave the order to hunt and execute us. As if we were nothing but animals.”
“So you set yourself up as a god to these people? Using and manipulating them in the same way that the Empire does to us? Because if that’s the kind of people the Jedi really were, then I’m glad we never followed you. Because you deserved what we did to you.”
Kenobi looked away, his fringe falling over his eyes. And then pulled his robes aside to reveal a heavy chain around his ankle.
“I didn’t choose this,” he said. “No Jedi would.”
Kenobi ran his fingers through his hair and sighed at Cody’s skeptical expression.
“While I was healing, they trapped me here. They thought they could use my abilities to keep their crops growing, their children healthy, so they tried bribing me – giving me gifts and food, anything they could imagine. And when I couldn’t help them, they turned to punishments and coercion.”
Kenobi’s fingers ghosted over a nearly invisible scar cutting across his cheek.
“They had never heard of the Jedi. All they had were stories of fickle gods that wandered the stars that could destroy planets on a whim or bring great riches to those that won their favor. They thought they were doing the right thing. Eventually, I taught myself to heal. That was the one gift I could actually give them.”
“You healed them?” Cody growled. The very idea set him on edge. He certainly wouldn’t lift a finger to help the shitty natborns that denied him and his brothers their citizenship. “Why?”
“I couldn’t leave them to suffer.”
“But they hurt you, they—”
Cody stopped. Because Kenobi had been telling him why since he opened his mouth. Because it was only a chain – ten years was more than enough time to wiggle his way free one way or another, Cody had seen him escape for more secure prisons.
“It’s because you’re a Jedi, isn’t it?”
Kenobi nodded. “It is not such a bad life,” he said. “I can still help people without bringing the Empire down on my head. I can meditate freely, still practice my beliefs. I can sleep without worrying what tomorrow will bring or what harm I will have to cause. I can simply serve these people as best I can – and here, that means healing.”
“Then you already know why so many of my brothers cannot leave.”
Kenobi smiled sadly. “You love each other and each other only.”
“Yes.”
The truth was simple. It did not make the loss of their love any less agonizing.
“They hate me,” Cody said when it felt like the silence had stretched on for long enough. “That’s why I left. After what I did—” He shook his head. “We only ever had each other. And I—”
Cody couldn’t continue, but he didn’t need to. He had seen the shock on Kenobi’s face when he realized that Cody was going to walk his brothers into a trap just to distract the other Jedi generals and their army long enough to bring in the bombers and the surrounded them.
The annihilation had been complete.
Not a single survivor walked away.
Not even Rex.
The Alliance had tried to retreat under Kenobi’s quick direction, but Cody hadn’t let them go, hadn’t allowed for surrender, for decency.
He won the war.
And lost everything else.
“Then go back for them,” Kenobi said, as if it were that simple.
It wasn’t. There was no way to pull everyone off Coruscant and the outposts at once. Too many things could go wrong, too many brothers would be left behind to face the wrath of the Empire. Cody had spent years agonizing over the problem, turning it over and over, accounting for thousands of variables and possibilities without luck.
“It’s impossible.”
“Then let me help.”
Epilogue
The chain broke with the snap of Obi-Wan’s fingers. He had not bothered with fanfare or comment, simply done what he had spent ten long years avoiding. But Cody saw the way his shoulders uncurled, how the permanent tension seemed to bleed out of his body. This was a relief too long in the making.
Cody’s armor slipped back on easily now that his wound was healed. Kenobi had certainly become a master healer in the intervening years. With the help of bacta, there was not even a scar to remember it by nor any lingering tightness in his lungs. He was fairly sure the Jedi had managed to soften some of the scar tissue in his lungs and gut that had been his constant companion since the day he woke up with his skull stapled back together.
Obi-Wan packed them both a bag, woven together by the rich sheets the town’s residents had gifted him. In it went what necessities Obi-Wan could scrounge up, though there wasn’t much besides the simple robes he wore, a few hygiene items, and some medical supplies. He left the gifts and offerings behind, not budging even when Cody revealed his sorry financial situation. He was certain the Force would provide. It was a faith Cody allowed himself to hesitantly share.
He stretched his stiff muscles as they readjusted to the comforting weight of his armor. It felt much the same as always, but the persistent itch between his shoulders blades was gone.
“My ship’s only a few kliks south of here,” Cody said as Obi-Wan tidied up the cottage. There wasn’t much to do – the place was kept almost spotless – but he folded away the nest of blankets and set the pillow back on the bed. The meditation corner he set up for himself was quickly dismantled. In minutes, it was as if no one lived here.
“Clean slate,” Obi-Wan said as he pulled the curtains open, letting the light flood into the room. He hesitated briefly before the last, before flinging it open like the others, letting in a mess of colors and lights like Cody had never seen.
Cody tucked his helmet under his arm as he stepped forward, a hand outstretched to touch what was certainly the results of hundreds of hours of work. Hundreds of glass pieces had been cut and soldered together to depict Obi-Wan in the moments after a battle, the sun at his back, his lightsaber extinguished, his eyes closed as he centered himself, a perfectly serene expression on his face. The artist had added a pair of colorful wings to Obi-Wan’s back that glimmered as the sun passed through the glass before it pooled on the floor in a mesh of hues.
“They loved you,” Cody said.
“Yes,” Obi-Wan said. His own hand reached out to trace the soldered lines, a labor of love by an artist who must have spent decades practicing their trade before they brought their work here. “Too much, perhaps.”
“They’ll be alright.”
“I know.”
Obi-Wan turned away from the window, the fire finally returning to his eyes. “Well, there’s no time to waste, my dear. Shall we?”
Cody put on his helmet and hefted his bag.
His brothers had been waiting long enough.

Perchance to Dream
Ok, before we get into what is happening here there are a few facts that I need to have entered into evidence pertaining to this universe.  Please indulge me and take note, every one of these facts will be critical later.
Fact 1:  In this universe Sheev Palpatine is not a Sith.
He is what he claims to be in canon, a career politician trying to do his best. He is no saint, he is still a career politician after all, but he is not the ultimate evil. He is still force sensitive, with a sensitivity that is enough that he could have trained as a Jedi if his parents had given him up, but not so high that he is a danger to anyone without training. But he does not keep it a secret from the Jedi, and has essentially been tutored by a few Jedi in the ways of the Force.  He does not let on in the Senate about his sensitivity (Which amounts to a better than average sense of people’s emotions, and a good sense for danger and being able to move very small items with his mind.).
Fact 2: Yan Dooku is the Sith Master, as of the clone wars, Hugo Demask was his master.
Hugo Demask survives 5 years longer than in canon, he corrupts Dooku, is Maul's Master and is ultimately killed by Dooku.  The background steps needed for the clone wars to happen, that in canon were Palpatine, were performed by Demask or Dooku.
Fact 3: The Clones are not chipped.
There is no project Knightfall, no Order 66. The clones were not a co-opted project by Sith. Master Sifo Dyas did commission them, but (like with Palpatine), they are not a trap for the Jedi. While Jango Fett still died on Geonosis, he had been there on a bounty, separate from his job to be the progenitor and trainer of the clones.  He trains them because he is paid, rather than for revenge.
Fact 4: Anakin Skywalker does not slaughter the Tuskens.
Shimi still dies, though it is an accident rather than being captured by the raiders.  Anakin still has grief and horror and loss but it is tempered here because there is no group of beings that can blame, and he is not one to turn that anger inward.  He does see his mother one last time, but there is closure rather than murder.
Fact 5: Jedi can get married.
It’s not common. Marriage as a legal institution doesn’t actually make sense to most Jedi.  The rights and protections that a marriage grants by and large are not applicable to Jedi. Even as an expression of love, it just tends not to occur to most Jedi to want a wedding. They are more than happy to have the ceremony if their partner or partners want, but won’t seek it out.
There are only a few Jedi that end up with partners outside the Jedi. There are two reasons for this. The first is that most of the galaxy has some weird ideas about Jedi and Jedi relationships. Most of the time it is not worth the effort to navigate. The second is a bit more convoluted. There is a higher rate of asexuality and aromanticism, or the equivalent, in Jedi than in their native populations (of Jedi whose species has sexuality), by a significant amount (Something like 10%-20% of the Jedi, with a sexual identity, identify as either asexual or aromantic, as opposed to the galactic standard of 1%). Incidentally there is also a higher rate of polyamorous leanings. This combines with the fact that the Jedi truly are a melting pot, different species growing up alongside each other, going through reproductive maturity together. Relationship Norms and Mores for Jedi look nothing like anywhere else in the galaxy.
Fact 6: Anakin Skywalker's marriage is  ‘secret’ and causes much giggling in the Jedi temple.
The secrecy is actually part of Naboo wedding traditions. Nabooians are expected to elope, and the longer the marriage is considered a ‘secret’, the more luck the marriage is said to have. The Jedi are well aware of this tradition and try to adhere to reasonable traditions when possible. So when Anakin effectively broadcasts to every Jedi in the galaxy that he was now Mister Padme Naberrie (the legalities of being married may not matter to Anakin as neither the Jedi nor the slave culture really have any use for it, but the idea of giving someone else their name as a way of giving them belonging was very important in Tatooine slave culture), approximately 45 seconds after their marriage, there is a collective silent agreement by the Jedi to let newlyweds have their ‘secret’.  There is a semi-formal betting pool as to who is going to give in and give away the secret first (Shortest odds are on ‘Anakin, finally doing something that is so obvious that the Jedi can’t ignore it anymore’, ‘Obi Wan, after Captain Rex is forced to lie badly to him again about what Anakin is doing’, or ‘Mace Windu after he catches Anakin and Padme in the Room of a Thousand fountains for a third time that day).
Ladies, gentleman, and everything in between of the jury, now that we have established these facts in evidence it is time to turn our attention to the reason we are here today.  Without the Sith Master at the head of the Republic the Clone war does take a slightly different trajectory, faster in some ways without their intelligence leaking quite as easily(The Senate still leaked intelligence like a sieve but at least the Separatists weren’t getting it right from the source), slower in other as there was no real overarching goal. No one is actually sure what victory would look like for either side.
Some members of the Separatist leadership decide that the best way to be victorious is to take out the GAR leadership, the Jedi High Council.  A chemical weapon was created, then tailored to each member of the High Council so it could be released and only affect the targets. It took a year to develop and tailor (so specific that it included the genetic code of each member of the council), then another to maneuver the release mechanisms into place.  This chemical weapon included a powerful hallucinogen and a chemical agent that links the hallucinations of everyone affected (through the Force).  Once deployed it would create a shared hallucination of the worst possible case scenario that could be created by the group. The aim being to hobble the GAR without their high command.
That shared hallucination is Canon, starting with the Jedi confronting the Sith Lord.
It is entirely possible that the Separatists greatly underestimated the amount of horror the mind of a Jedi could generate.  And how well they would be able to keep moving when under the hallucination.
When a Jedi died in the hallucination, they would fall comatose and though none did, the chemical weapon would, for lack of a better way to explain, go a step further and try to convince them to give up(which would kill them in the real world) by continuing to show them this hallucinatory world as ‘part of the Force’.  Until this comatose state they would act in the real world according to the hallucination, including reacting as if injuries within it existed in the real world.
The High council is spread throughout the galaxy when weapons are deployed. The members of the council that fell to Sidious immediately fall into a coma, while the rest begin to act in varying degrees of strangely (Depending on where they were and how different that place was from where they now thought they were). Mace Windu drops into something that is not quite a coma as his body reacts to having his wrist cut off and falling from a high window, with all the trauma therein.  As Order 66 goes out in the hallucination, more of the council drop until the only ones left moving are Obi Wan Kenobi and Yoda, both of whom escape the planets they were on. It is only luck that neither hurt anyone in escaping.
There is immediate confusion, that is true.  The unexplained coma of 9 members of the Jedi High Council, Mace Windu’s collapse (Physically nothing is wrong but brain scans and the healers say that his brain is acting as if he is in severe pain, as well as severe shock), and the disappearance of Obi Wan Kenobi and Yoda.
The Officers, both clone and nat born, rally quickly and it becomes very obvious, very rapidly that the separatist were responsible for what happened to the Jedi Councilors.  This gives the GAR, particularly the personal battalions of those same Jedi, a new vigor and driving force.  In trying to destabilize the GAR, the separatist actually provided them with a rallying point (Fighting for freedom or protecting the innocent is a great tagline but hard to turn from concept to reality. Fighting because someone fucked with our generals is much easier to put a face to).
It takes eight months to track down the architects of the chemical weapon, who never developed a cure (During this time the war is categorically won by the Republic). Before being captured they managed to destroy about a quarter of the notes regarding the weapon. Using what is left, it takes two years to recreate the missing portion of the notes and another 15 months to synthesize an antidote.
By this point Mace Windu had to be under constant sedation to alleviate the strain of the injuries he sustained in the hallucination. Because of this it was Plo Koon who woke first.
Yoda and Obi Wan were still missing.
Plo commented that the Force felt so much lighter. He jolted when he saw Commander Wolffe sitting next to his bed. Thankfully he accepted that he had been in a hallucination easily. And as he described what had gone on within the hallucination (As he had died early, he was cursed with the helpless knowledge of exactly what was going on: the chips, Anakin's fall, The march on the temple, all the evils of the galactic empire) the horror only increased. No one could even blame his slight flinch whenever Anakin spoke, not even Anakin after Plo described the march on the temple in devastating detail and the fight on Mustafar (It only takes a few moments to realize this was a worst case scenario specifically from the Mind of Obi Wan, who could not think about much worse than his beloved brother becoming Falling and becoming Vader).
Eventually Plo is asked if he knows where Obi Wan and Yoda are, even as the other members of the council begin to wake.
He does, but he recommends that it is not the Clones or Anakin Skywalker that go after either. For a moment Anakin considers being offended, this was his lineage after all, but after hearing what had happened in the hallucination, what Obi Wan and Yoda currently remember him doing, it only makes sense.
And Cody may be chomping at the bit to go after his general (he was only on Coruscant to see the antidote be administered in hopes that it would give them a clue as to where Obi Wan was, he has spent all of his time since the war ended with the rest of the 212th,searching the galaxy for their general) but he can also see the wisdom of not spooking the general.
Unfortunately the cure had to be administered intravenously, so there was no gassing the planet.
Aayla Secura is sent to Dagobah to make contact with Yoda. He is not able to sense her, because she is dead in the hallucination.  He sees her and hears her but believes her to be the hallucination, come to torment him with his failures (Look I imagine that Obi Wan and Yoda have really similar headspaces regarding the genocide of their people and the self isolation that they enacted because of it.).  She is able to administer the cure and get him back to the ship and headed toward Coruscant.
The thing is this hallucination has been active in his mind for 3 years. For the comatose Jedi there was an extra degree of separation from the hallucination (Because they could only watch, the horror was somewhat muted). So while the cure works, breaking Yoda of the hallucination he is utterly changed by three years of horror and isolation and the press of a created darkside. He abjectly refuses to take any seat of power (The entire order has been restructured by necessity since they had no idea when they would cure the high council) and retreats to the creche. It takes years before he stops being hypervigilant when he sees trooper armor in the temple (particularly if that armor is 501st blue). The troopers never begrudge how he stills at the sight of their armor, and it becomes a policy that troopers who want to enter the creche will change into anything but their armor.
Mace Windu also needs years to recover, having spent three years ‘healing’ from having his hands cut off and being thrown from the Chancellor office.  His mind expects his hands to be gone, which causes all kinds of issues (Kind of the reverse of having a phantom limb). Sheev Palpatine was a friend of Mace’s (It was friendship born of being leaders, doing their best and knowing that their every decision held the weight of a galaxy) and a frequent visitor while they were working on a cure. The first time he enter’s Mace’s room after the cure, Mace lashes out with the Force and throws him through the door in pure panic. This wild panic reaction lasts for three months (with countless attempts by Mace and the mind healers to break it) before Mace growls and decides that it would not happen again.  He then would go to camp out in Palpatine’s apartments for two weeks to train himself out of the reaction.
It is Quinlan Vos that is chosen to lure Obi Wan out of hiding. Now that they know that the hallucination is affecting Obi Wan’s ability to sense with the Force, the 212th insist that they will provide Vos with hsi transportation to Tatooine, though they do agree not to actually set foot on the planet.
As far as the residents of Tatooine are concerned, Ben the hermit showed up one day to wander into the Wastes and give himself heatstroke.   He is considered crazy but mostly harmless, and slightly obsessed with the Lars family. In this world Beru and Owen Lars did adopt a baby born right around the time Ben arrived. This little boy, whom they do name Luke, is the son of an escaped slave woman who died in childbirth on their farm. Like many slaves and children of slaves, she took the last name Skywalker.
Ben thinks he is watching over the son of his brother, and that Owen hates him for failing Anakin. Owen is leery of the strange hermit that watches their farm (particularly Luke) from afar and vanishes into the Jutland Wastes when approached.  Particularly since the few times they have talked to him, he hasn’t actually made much sense.  Every so often other moisture farmers would come to the farm to chat and ask Owen or Beru about Ben. Both are forced to nod and go ‘yep, he’s still out there raving about a galactic empire and apologizing for killing Owen's brother. No, Owen doesn’t have a brother’ (Having only met Anakin once, and though he knows that Shimi had another son, really doesn’t connect Shimi’s son to this brother).
Vos is eventually able to track Obi Wan/Ben down. It takes some trickery for Vos to administer the cure (Ben tries to kick him off the planet three times, hissing that Vos can’t draw the empire’s attention to Tatooine) but once it does, it knocks him out enough for Vos to carry him back to the spaceport.
The Lar’s happen to be in town when Vos comes through carrying Ben. Beru asks what Vos is doing with Ben.  Vos responds that he is bringing him home. Owen asks if Vos will be able to get Ben the help he needs. Vos answers yes, and they all go about their day. Ben the hermit will remain a story told on Tatooine for years, particularly after High General Obi Wan comes back a decade later and awkwardly thanks the Lars for the kindness they exhibited.
Like Yoda and Mace, the time in the hallucination affected Obi Wan deeply.  He keeps a constant ‘watch’ though the Force on his men (within the hallucination their force presence flattened and fell away in the wake of Order 66) and feels deeply protective of all these individual lights that died just as surely as the Jedi did.  He also clings to Anakin’s force presence, but cannot stand to be in a room with Anakin and children. He knows it is irrational but can’t quite help it. At times even stepping foot on Coruscant or at the temple is difficult.
Obi Wan decides to take a step back from being a knight and Master. He and many of the clones, primarily of the 212th though there are others, plus a few Jedi and others they pick up along the way decide that they will take a survey mission to begin to map some of the wild space beyond the outer rim. He, Cody, and Rex end up entering into a relationship that forms the base for a polycule with the majority of the crew (with the exception of the children they acquire, those all call each member of the polycule some variation of mom/dad/parent).
They all eventually find happiness, though it does not always look like everything else.

“oh the fjerdans are nazis and grisha are Jews, the fjerdans were inspired by the SS, they’re the axis, matthias is a nazi he-”
Idk how to tell you this, but every single imperial/fascist power isn’t just based on Nazis, there have historically been LOTS of other regimes/rulers you could compare to. The Rus conquered a lot of of northern Europe at one point. The Ottomans. The Roman Empire. The Holy Roman Empire. I could go on.
[Star Wars side note: Everyone likes to say the Galactic Empire was Nazis when they’re very clearly based on the British Empire instead — meanwhile the First Order seems to have more connections to Nazi imagery].
Everyone picks up on the fact that the more aesthetic aspects of the Fjerdans (cold climate, warriors, wolves & ships & snow) were inspired by Nordic countries. They seem to miss that the not-so-savory aspects of Fjerda are also based on the worse characteristics of old Nordic culture— they’re slavers and raiders, religiously intolerant, racist (or the anti-grisha version of racism), misogynistic.
Not every fictional discriminatory regime is Nazis. Plenty of other people throughout history have been shitty and intolerant and power hungry and it’s reductive (and boring, tbh) to just compare all the fictional fascists to the most well-known example.

Calactic Council Part 1 : The Caridina Trade Enclave
Tumblr media
The first somewhat fleshed out Galactic council Members, at least when it comes to a name, ships, location on a map and style, is the Caridina Trade Enclave. Headcanon wise I see them as a uncomfortably wealthy Region, that acts as a neutral buffer and bridge between the Taiidan state, and it's neighbours. As a faction they make trade between all the regional factions, who don't really see eye to eye possible, by virtue of their position. Of course this is facilitated with non substantial mark ups, hence the uncomfortable amount of wealth. Due to political circumstances and logistical issues, their fleets are mainly built to defend Trade Routes and Convoys from bold Raiders. Ultimately, if it weren't for their usefulnes as a trade hub, they would sucumb quickly to their clients ambitions.

Ta'a Chume & Ni'Korish Are Terrible People
Ta'a Chume and her mother Ni'Korish are possible two of the most despicable people not only in the history of the Hapes Consortium, but also in the entire Star Wars Expanded Universe.
According to Wookieepedia, Ni'Korish "was known for her extreme anti-Jedi sentiments, regarding them as a closed elite who monopolized power through their magic, and her grandson Isolder believed that if any Jedi had tried to hide in the Hapes Cluster during the Jedi Purge, she would have enjoyed destroying them."
Unfortunately, this was a belief she imparted upon her daughter Ta'a Chume, which explains a lot of her behavior during the events of The Courtship of Princess Leia, as well as her role in the Yuuzhan Vong War. Not to mention, Ta'a Chume is a very evil woman who, according to Wookiepedia, "As a ruler concerned only with her position, Ta'a Chume had no qualms about killing people to protect herself and/or the monarchy, including going so far as to arrange the assassinations of her first born son, her younger son's fiancée, and her daughter-in-law." This is another example of anti-Jediism in the EU that I find completely disgusting.
Another possible reason for this anti-Jediism in Hapan royalty might come from the fact that their Hapans' ancestors, the Lorell Raiders, who were a bunch of anarchistic pirates causing trouble in Republic space, were taken down by a Republic strike team ledy by Jedi Master Arca Jeth. The Jedi were hated by the Hapans since then, for the crime of DOING THEIR JOBS!!!
Just like the Bakurans and their Cosmic Balance beliefs, this is another example of another galactic culture with a misguided and unnecessary hatred for the Jedi Order, confusing their actions with the Sith. I love the EU, but sometimes, they get on my nerves with this anti-Jediism. It's like they have no respect for George Lucas's established lore!

Fo4 Companions (+Sturges, DiMA, and Travis) Reactions To Being Taken To Nuka-World
➼ Word Count » 1.1k ➼ Warnings » None
MacCready really wants to take his son to the Kiddie Kingdom. He thinks it'd be fun to show him around the castle, although, he'll try to avoid the fun house. He thinks it's too creepy, and all the ghouls set him on edge, especially Oswald. There’s something about magicians that MacCready finds weird.
Nick only really went to Nuka-World to make sure you stayed out of trouble, he couldn't care less about the carnivals, however, he did find the Grandchester Mystery Manor kinda exciting. He liked the chase and the detective work that was vaguely required for the quest. It was a nice change of pace from his usual work.
Cait hates it there so much. All the slaves remind her of when she used to be one and she'll probably end up beating the gang leaders, specifically Mason (he just annoys her the most) But after she's done and satisfied, she'd love to visit the little rigged box games that sit on the sides of the roads. She wants to prove to you that she can actually beat them and not fall into their money traps.
Danse thinks the place is absolutely disgusting. He can't stand the sight of so many raiders in one place. He'd want to leave immediately and call in for backup just to have the place cleared. Then maybe the Brotherhood could make better use of the area. He goes around promising the settlers that help is on the way and that they’ll be freed soon.
Preston also can't stand it there. He'll constantly be on edge if you take him. He’d much rather spend his time with the hubologists than anywhere near the raider gangs and will gladly help get them their spacesuits.
Codsworth can't help but want to tidy the place up. Those overflowing trash cans will be no more! Codsworth refuses to let one piece of plastic pollute any of the areas. The raiders will harass him for it, but after 200 years with nothing to do, he's so happy to be given a worthwhile task.
Piper’s dead set on finding Bradberton. Thinks it'll make good press and she's semi-interested in meeting the man who invented Nuka-Cola. She'd get along with Sierra well enough that they'd end up roping you into joining their little hunt. Interviews the absolute shit out of him and it makes him want to die even more.
Curie finds the Safari Adventure zone so exciting. She loves analyzing the gatorclaws and doing research on the ghoulrillas, but her favorite part of Nuka-World is Cito. She and Cito become close friends really fast. Their general innocence is something they bond over very quickly. Curie will ask a lot of questions to Cito, and Cito will gladly share his livelihood and culture with the excited synth.
Strong thinks the Operators and Disciples look too much like robots and ends up massacring all the raiders in the park. However, he really likes the Disciples' base cause there are very convenient corpses everywhere for him to eat. He’d be fine with Mason until the Pack tried to put a bomb collar on him and put him in a cage, then he kills them too.
Hancock and the ghouls at Kiddie Kingdom will be as close as close can be. Hancock will help Oswald defend the area and will become a sort of second Mayor to Kiddie Kingdom. The lot of them are going to have a blast. He convinces Oswald to get rid of most of the radiation and makes the place into a pretty nice place to live for ghouls and people alike.
The amount of Nuka-World merch that Deacon will start to gather would cause any sane person to weep in distress. He has way too much fun wearing Sierra's cappy glasses and especially loved going around and finding the hidden Cappy's. He'd force you to go on this little treasure hunt with him, it'd be good for the two of you to take a vacation anyway.
X6-88 only wants to spend his time in the Galactic Zone. The space themes with all the robots make him feel intrigued, even if everything there is hostile. He’ll try and see if anything he finds there could be useful to help further the progression of the Institute’s success. He'd get along well enough with Nisha, but if you and her ever got into an argument, he'd be at your side in an instant spitting threats at her and the rest of the raiders.
Dogmeat has a great time chasing the Pack members around because of the little stuffed animals they have attached to them. He gets a little scared when they throw him into the dog-fighting arena though.
Old Longfellow’s favorite part is fighting the Mirelurks at the industrial plant. It reminds him the most of home. It's also the most non-desert-like area in the entire park. Longfellow doesn't have much of an opinion of being brought there, he's just glad you took him instead of Gage, that way he can make sure you're not being taken advantage of in any capacity. He thinks the entire 'boss' ordeal is suspicious and doesn't trust anyone in Nuka-World.
Gage’s favorite part will always be the grill area. Just something about being above it all that makes him feel at ease. It's where he spends the most time anyway, I mean, it's quite literally his home.
Sturges likes walking around in one of the cowboy outfits that the sheriffs give you. He thinks it matches his accent nicely and he just loves the Southern theme of the Dry Rock Gulch in general. He was really interested in Colter’s power armor too when you two first showed up and at some point probably left to take it apart.
DiMA definitely prefers the foggy atmosphere of Far Harbor better than the sunny, chaotic energy that Nuka-World holds. At any rate, the Raiders there are gonna hate him. They think he talks too much and they'll probably try to kill him. Nevertheless, he still likes to scrounge around for any pre-war technology to study or areas to look into.
Travis doesn't know why you decided to take him there. He'll be cowering behind you the entire time, so worried about everyone staring at him. Even when you tell him that you're technically the boss, he doesn't want anything to do with it. He refuses to turn his radio on while you're there, he's so scared that Red-Eye will come down and fight him over who has the better station.

Five Great Quotes from Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002)
“It is with great reluctance that I have agreed to this calling. I love democracy. I love the Republic. Once this crisis has abated, I will lay down the powers you have given me!” Chancellor Palpatine
Tumblr media
Chancellor Palpatine is given emergency powers by the Republic Senate to create a grand army “to counter the increasing threats of the Separatists.” Ian McDiarmid delivers this line with such authority and political knowhow that it is chilling.
The audience knows straightaway that he has no intention to give up these powers and they are just another step in his plan to create the first Galactic Empire. This is unbeknownst to poor Jar Jar Binks whose ignorance and attempts to please Padme, who had elevated him to a position above his station, has inflicted irreparable harm to democracy in the universe with this motion.
History is filled with those who have received these powers and not given them up. These figures, like Hitler, Napoleon and Caeser, were the template Lucas wanted to mirror in the Star Wars universe.
“You don’t need guidance, Anakin. In time, you will learn to trust your feelings. Then you will be invincible. I have said it many times, you are the most gifted Jedi I have ever met.” Chancellor Palpatine
Tumblr media
Another from Chancellor Palpatine as he continues his grooming of young Skywalker into his next Sith apprentice. Always playing the long game, you know Palpatine is constantly having these conversations with Anakin, whether we see them or not, to gain favour with him.
Anakin has gone from a life of slavery on Tatooine, that although difficult, was filled with love from his mother. He has been taken away to train as a Jedi and is unappreciated and even feared by the Jedi Council who treat him quite openly with contempt. The only Jedi that wanted him trained, Qui Gon Ginn, was killed by Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace.
These reasons are why Anakin’s relationship with Palpatine is so strong. He sees him as a mentor, a great politician and a good man who is beyond corruption. Palpatine has always complimented Anakin’s skills as a Jedi, encouraging rather than stifling his abilities.
Palpatine probably thought he’d have to work harder to gain Anakin’s trust and establish such a strong relationship for when he wanted to reap the benefits of a young and powerful apprentice. Through scenes and lines like this, he had Anakin in his pocket when he needed him the most, in Revenge of the Sith with Mace Windu’s purple lightsaber about to unleash the fatal blow upon his life. It is in these smaller scenes that the germ of Order 66 is born and the destruction of the Jedi Order.
“One day, I will become the greatest Jedi ever. I will even learn how to stop people from dying.” Anakin Skywalker
Tumblr media
There was much said about Hayden Christensen’s portrayal of Anakin at the time of release for Attack of the Clones. A lot of it unfair. It is a difficult role to play for Lucas who has been famous for not loving working with actors. However, history has been kind to Christensen, and now the generation that the films were made for are appreciating the prequel films and his performance. His appearance in the Obi-Wan and Ashoka TV shows were met with much joy from fans wanting to see him back in the Star Wars universe.
The context for the above line is that Anakin has slaughtered an entire camp of Tusken Raiders for abducting and ultimately murdering his mother. His nightmare visions have come true and he was powerless to save the only person so far in his life to really love and care for him. Unfortunately, when this happens again with Padme, the fall is much greater.
There is such anguish in this line as Anakin struggles to comprehend why his amazing abilities can’t help him stop death. It is an important scene, especially in the context of Anakin and Palpatine’s discussions about Darth Plagueis the Wise in Revenge of the Sith. Anakin is angry. He is angry at Ob-Wan, he is angry at the Jedi Council, and he is angry with himself. This anger fills him for the rest of his life until Luke redeems his father at the end of Return of the Jedi.
“You must realize there aren’t enough Jedi to protect the Republic. We’re keepers of the peace, not soldiers.” Mace Windu
Tumblr media
There is a sense of dramatic irony in this early exchange between Mace Windu and Chancellor Palpatine. We know for a fact that Palpatine is well aware of this information and that the Jedi would be overwhelmed in a war against the Separatists. His face is stoic and understanding but inside he will be rejoicing that the Sith are one step closer to taking over the galaxy.
The opposition to the creation of a Grand Army of the Republic, that will serve him in the war and beyond into the Empire, has minimized and that he has political ammunition for its creation. The fact that he will use these troops with Order 66 is chilling.
The Jedi are cautious around the Chancellor, but he is clouding their judgment. There is little say they can have in these galactic matters at the moment. This troubles Yoda and the council and, ultimately, leads to their obliteration in Revenge of the Sith.
“It is obvious that this contest cannot be decided by our knowledge of the Force but by our skills with a lightsaber.” Count Dooku
Tumblr media
Count Dooku has left Obi-Wan and Anakin wounded on the floor. He lets out a sigh before he sees Yoda walking in slowly with his wooden cane supporting him. We are about to see something special.
This above line comes after Dooku and Yoda’s use of the force to try and outsmart each other. Lucas is building up tension as most audience members are aware of what’s to come. Some rocks are thrown, some electric is unleashed, but it is still a stalemate. Yoda unleashes his lightsaber and they have a visually exciting duel.
It all goes by so fast with Yoda turning into a superhero. Lucas says that he wanted him to be a mix of Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog. Whether or not you think this is a good representation of character and jars too much with The Empire Strikes Back, it is still a huge event of a scene that is what makes blockbusters what they are.
Yoda reveals that Dooku was his old padawan learner before Darth Tyrannus’ retreat to his Master Darth Sidious. It is too late, there is no win, no victory. The Clone Wars has begun, the dark side is growing in power, and the Jedi’s time is numbered.

From @theluckywizard--first line of last ten posted fics:
“Thank you,” the former minister said, gesturing to the conference table across from his desk. (for what it's worth, swtor)
The message arrived while Vector was seated for breakfast at a Kaas City café, skimming through recent correspondence with Falner Oeth. (a calculated risk, swtor)
“Can I ask you something?” (making the call, swtor)
Pravin had attended a few promotion ceremonies during his time in the navy, all necessarily formal—if a ceremony was to be done at all, it had to involve marching, singing, highly scripted speeches and rehearsed gestures. (you no longer have a name, swtor)
The trek to Haven had been, as anticipated, an exercise in discomfort. (the girl he remembered, DAI)
“Remind me again,” Pravin said, gazing out the coach window at the shadowed treeline, “which one you were shagging.” (the triumph of old and new friends, DAI)
It took a few hours for Lana to finally get a lead on the man—Raider’s Cove was, after all, a city of transients, one of those gang-run trading posts in the middle of galactic nowhere. (all the times we've said goodbye, swtor)
Fidencio Frye is an actor well-known in the realm of Orlesian musical theater, as well as an uncommonly effective bard. (seems like a real gentleman, DAI)
“Have you heard about this Inquisition?” (as with any shitshow, DAI)
Quinn had grown accustomed to contemplating his own death. (better to be wrecked, swtor)
I have two (2) settings and it's "in medias res dialogue opening" and "worldbuilding", haha. I think #5 is probably my favorite in terms of being a pretty classic hook sentence, though #6 is also up there for making me smirk every time I read it. (#10 is a little off pattern because it's stylistically pretty different; it's kind of a poetic, meditative one-shot, whereas my more recent works have been largely plot or dialogue-driven.)
