Jesus Isn't Heroine (part 4)
Tony waves as you drive off to Rainey's house - formerly a branch of the mid-continental public library. It always smells of freshly bound books and coffee, a combination that's a profound aphrodisiac.
You fixed the shower and cleaned up the sewage - fortunately it was contained in the shower, but was an unsettling shade of fluorescent pink. Was Rainey's sewer filled with pepto-bismol?
It's best not to guess about such things, so you finish cleaning up and prepare to return the roto-rooter to Tony Hawk's hardware store.
Tony keeps his word and doesn't charge you. French Stewart, satiated from his yoga mat lunch, smiles and waves as you exit the store. Oddly enough, you realize that - despite your protestations and strongly anchored masculinity that steeps your brain in testosterone and copious amounts of whiskey & coffee - people seem to… like you. An almost universal appeal radiates from you like pollen from a flowering dogwood tree.
A compilation of emotions accompanies this realization: confusion, contentment, revulsion, a dash of arrogance, and an appetizer of disgust. You would prefer they like you, of course, but perhaps...well, not so quickly. Your actions and words are reflections of what people should be routinely doing; is that so rare? Is it so uncommon for people to return what they borrowed, and in similar condition when they had it loaned to them? Is it unique to be cordial, polite, honest, and direct? And what the fuck happened to trigger discipline?!?
You're shaken from your internal rant by a loud honk from the car behind you. "TEN! TEN SECONDS I'VE HAD TO WAIT ON YOUR DUMBASS TO MOVE THROUGH THE GREEN LIGHT!!! AH AH AH". It's The Count; he grew up near Grover's neighborhood. When he left his teaching career to become an accountant, you thought it was a good move - more pay, less stress, lots of number puns. But his vampiric fuckboi persona emerged quickly, and now he's just a number-crunching asshole.
If only he knew what you had done. What you were….are...capable of. What you - despite telling yourself repeatedly how honorable, how noble, how it betters humanity - are not proud of…but cannot quit.
P. R. I. D. E.
Something you don't have. Oh sure, you're 'proud' of your job (kinda), your self-sufficiency, your strategic and tactically-suited mind, your beard; but that's just window-dressing for those cishet passersby who deem you so likeable. You quickly accelerate through the light and turn on the radio, the latter because you forgot to charge your phone. The news anchor's voice suddenly grabs your anxiety by the colon:
"…Pat Robertson Is Dead, Everyone."
Alarm bells go off in your head, warning you that what was a closely guarded secret shrouded in unreasonable shame might just turn into more than just your own psychological problem.
…fuck.

Bartok Has His Own Movie and He’s Magnificent
"Bartok the Magnificent" is a prequel to "Anastasia," following a bat magician's quest to save a young tsar from an evil plot. Despite a star-studded voice cast and catchy songs, it falls short of its predecessor.
You may or may not know this, but there is a sequel to the animated film “Anastasia” (1997), well technically it’s not a sequel, and in likelihood, takes place BEFORE the events in “Anastasia,”  seeing as how Prince Ivan is a Romanov, a Romanov that died in 1640, and we know what happened to them – mind you, “Anastasia” takes place circa 1916, so we’ll try not to think too much about it. My mom…
