I can't believe someone submitted Freddy Quinn but he sure needs some propaganda against Fats Domino:

Freddy Quinn was a bit like the Elvis of 50s & 60s Germany (although tamer and with a different vibe), he was a pretty big deal and the heartthrob of so many girls/young women. (I think he was even considered the first teenage idol/teenage girl crush!) It's funny: Although he was actually from Austria (land of the Alps with no sea in sight), he became the embodiment of the lonely sailor with nothing but his guitar, who is somewhere between the fernweh for faraway places and homesickness. (That was the aesthetic of that time.) (He also had a time when he was trying to get into country and cowboy aesthetic but I don't know much about that.)

The most beautiful thing is actually how much of a kind, gentle soul he was and still is. No matter how famous he became, he always stayed down to earth and in interviews he really just seems like a wonderful, friendly, nice person that you would probably love to be your neighbour.
