⚡️ Happy Monday rockers! Want to know the story behind this very famous photo of Frank Zappa?! 👑 Join us this Thursday evening January 19th 6-8pm for a little summer soirée with British photographer Robert Davidson - who has landed in Australia for the first time! He will be telling the story of how he snapped Zappa “on the krappa”, signing exclusive posters (swipe ⬅️) and books - come down for a drink and a chat 🥂 RSVP:
[email protected] Here’s a lil taste…. 😎 In the summer of 1967, nineteen year old photographer Robert Davidson was commissioned to shoot Frank Zappa in his London hotel room to promote an upcoming concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Zappa let him in upon arrival and proceeded to use the toilet. Robert seized the opportunity and immediately asked through the ajar door if he could take his picture on the throne – Zappa obliged. This set of images, commonly known as the ‘Zappa Krappa’ pictures almost immediately gained cult status, a sentiment echoed by Zappa himself in 1983, when stating, “I’m probably more famous for sitting on the toilet than for anything else.” Peace & Love! ✌️❤️🎶 #frankzappa #zappa #robertdavidson #rockandroll #musichistory #musicphotography #psychadelic #sixties #legendsneverdie #rockroyalty #cult #rare #style #icon #muse #rockicon #rocknroll #blendergallery (at Blender Gallery) https://www.instagram.com/p/CndDvv_hQxB/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Imagine living in Mexico in 1969 just in time for Frank Zappa to release his Hot Rats album. This Mexican cover art variant must be seen by Zappa fans. When did "progressive rock" as a term originate???? People who take it up the ass would probably say Moody Blues but I bet there is a better precursor or blueprint for prog. In other news... what is progressive rock?

ZAPPA & THE MOTHERS LOOKING FOR NEW CONVERTS IN THE PAGES OF MARVEL COMICS.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on a record ad for THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION then newly-released third studio album, "We're Only in it for the Money" (released March 1968 on Verve Records), from the pages of "Daredevil" Vol. 1 #38. March, 1968. Marvel Comics.
Cover art by Gene Colan (✝), story/script by Stan "The Man" Lee (✝). Resolution for "Daredevil" cover at 1102x1599.
OVERVIEW: "In March 1968, the Mothers of Invention unleashed their third mind-bending cultural intervention, known to all and sundry as "We’re Only in it for the Money." In a curious move, Verve Records, no doubt directed by Zappa himself, apparently selected the pre-teen comic book audience to be one of the target demographics to promote the album to. Specifically, "Daredevil" Vol. 1 #38, which came out the same month as the album, and featured a remarkable full-page ad promoting the record.
The ad was about as psychedelic as the rest of 1968, touting the Mothers’ first two albums, "Freak Out!" and "Absolutely Free," and promising “thrilling free fun!”
I’m sure the "Daredevil" demographic just couldn’t wait to check out a concept album dedicated to skewering hippies. In Verve’s defense, the album was part of Zappa’s “No Commercial Potential” project. Then again maybe Frank was fully aware that much of his audience were horny, pimply-faced adolescent boys. Maybe it was a good ad buy after all."

Frank Zappa "Zappa '88: The Last U.S. Show" 4xLP. While I doubt that I will get through all 8 sides of this tonight, this album sounds fantastic! Just hearing the band warm up at the very beginning of the album let you onow you were going to be in for an aural extravaganza. One of my first 5 Zappa CD's was "The Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life" which was a 2xCD set culled from 1988 performances, so I am very familiar with this band... but they've never sounded so good. Now I'm curious to hear that CD on my stereo as I bet it's a good time too as Zappa recorded all those '88 shows digitally. I thought it was cool the show opened with The League of Women Voters registering someone to vote on stage to show thencrowd how easy ot was and to encourage them to do so during intermission and that the show ends with "America The Beautiful" Brings a tear to my eye. #LP #Vinyl #Records #FrankZappa #Zappa88TheLastUSShow #Zappa #FZ #Zappa88 #DontForgetToRegisterToVote https://www.instagram.com/p/CiBbkxDOhd9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
