MY FINAL SPACE SEASON THREE THOUGHTS
under readmore because spoilers
so um this thing has to do with the team squad realizing there’s more than one earth in the breach--there’s probably like thousands and thousands. THING IS they found all those earths AFTER the first one esploded.
which, i mean, could just be because “all timelines flow into final space” and timey-wimey bullshit gets tangley-wangley so we don’t know JUST how long ANYTHING has been there. it’s not like all the timelines are linear, or nightfall would probably be way older.
so here’s my thought.
the first earth they saw has clearly been there longer than the others, considering it’s the only one (that we know of) that’s hatched its titan baby. we know that fundamentally they’re all the same earth with the only key differences being the journey up to closing the breach. (tho now i’m wondering if john might’ve survived the mission in some of them leaving gary to live a relatively normal life up to that point).
the earth they found first might not have been the same one they lost.
and those other earths? they all have a kvn net

Nora: Your grandma is Salem?! That's so awesome! Why didn't you tell us?
Jaune: Why would I? She left us when I was young. Why? I still don't know.
Penny: Would you like a pancake?
Jaune: (Turns, Walks away)
Penny: Either he's distracted, or he's already had breakfast.
Jaune: Or I just don't want a pancake!
Nora: ...So, if he doesn't want it, can I...?

Headcanon (or. How I Made Sense of the S2 Finale):
After Izzy's death, Stede underestimated the grief of the crew and tried to act like everything was business as usual.
After an especially insensitive comment, Frenchie chewed out Stede for coming up with such a stupid plan that cost Izzy his life.
Ed tried to come to Stede's defense, but Frenchie finally stood up to Ed and dressed him down entirely, telling him he didn't get a say because of all the abuse he put Izzy through in life.
The crew were so impressed that they unanimously voted for Ed and Stede to leave the ship and Frenchie to become captain

I just watched Godspeed and omfg. I’m close to tears. The beginning scene with iris looking at June and her kid, the way that it dragged on and led to iris’ decision to stay on whatever planet (I’m guessing a version of earth) was dying.
The house that Iris found the message that said “we existed,” the way she added her name to the other’s! The fact that she started worrying if anyone would remember her!
The hope that she got when she heard Ryan’s message, the way that she had to leave June almost made me cry.
THE FACT THAT AVOCATO SHOWED UP (ur fooling no one with this “king slayer” bs) AND THE FACT THAT THE SHIP’S AI WAS LITERALLY HUE
THE COOKIE ON THE GROUND. THE “bunches and bunches.” THE FUCKING EVERYTHING
I have a theory also, bowy (idk if that’s how you spell his name and I couldn’t hear it very well either lol) I think has the same VA as Gary (pretty sure it was Olan Rogers that voiced Gary I can’t remember)… and a very similar personality and we have no idea where he came from… so he mayhaps be a kind of ai that someone made to be a lot like Gary for Iris, but it doesn’t seem like he is Gary cuz he didn’t know who avocato was
I also rlly love bowy, and post apocalyptic animated shows and books, by far the best genre (*cough cough* Maze Runner *cough cough*)! Tho idk how I really feel abt it basically being a (unofficial cuz it would be kinda illegal, but like fuck the law Rogers should be able to continue final space) sequel to Final Space cuz I just don’t rlly trust sequels that much cuz if bad experiences with them (Star Wars 😔). Also I dont want to think abt the fact that a lot of the characters may be dead… also I’m worried abt how little Cato (or a character like him) wasn’t with “king slayer”

Thanks for everything, man. For the 12 years of theories I've been watching. For all the college nights of gtlive. For putting more fnaf knowledge into my head than anyone who has never played one of the games should have.
Youtube will never quite be the same without you. But, hey, that's just a theory.

okay this Xi Tian article is SO good
“Chinese BL as a highly interactive and adaptive genre has evolved significantly over generations of practitioners and has undergone a noticeable self-reflexivity.” (105)
“I therefore suggest that the trend of conflating BL with homosexuality and the deliberate homosexualization of BL in both texts and real life have ultimately extended the cultural identity of BL, as well as its political meaning, and in practice have created a porous culture that welcomes gender diversity and helps increase the visibility of the gay community, revealing a significant social and cultural shift that cannot be ignored or reversed.” (105)
“On the other hand, because of the heavy censorship on (re)presentation of homosexuality in literature and film, Chinese BL was born into and grows from a significantly different sociopolitical environment from that of Japanese BL and English slash.” (107)
“...I believe that BL should always be read queerly.” (107)
“Meanwhile, more BL stories are set in fantasy worlds, dynastic eras, or futuristic times, which have their own norms on gender and sexuality and in which characters live beyond real-life restrictions of sexual orientation and gender identity.” (109)
"...the reflexivity of the BL genre explicitly recognizes and normalizes male homosexuality, complements the exploration of female queer sexuality, and relocates BL in the larger scale of queer practice in the society, demonstrating that an increasing number of BL practitioners have realized the (possible) pitfalls of BL practice, responded actively to the shifting paradigms of sexuality in China, and used literary texts to better understand people who have been marginalized by heteronormative institutions and to change the society where they live.” (110)

he's written several books about outer space after his thesis btw. most of them discuss popular theories and try to form a clearer understanding of every one of them + their origins + how realistic they are without roasting the original author to hell and back

So I may or may not have spent a good chunk of my day trying to learn how to look into onis code and while I may not have yet succeeded I will likely keep fucking around with shit tomorrow and if I manage to succeed it'll spell great doom for my sanity as oni becomes the interest I've officially poured the most effort into analyzing

Huh, the first simulation we see takes place in the ocean, which is largely not understood and that is appropriately likened to our knowledge of the brain.
If the ending scene is showing the next level in the experiment and it takes place in space, that is something humans have explored a bit more and therefore understand better. So could that be an analogy to the experiment advancing a step further towards the answers being sought out?
I mentioned previously that the ending scene could be the start of a new type of simulation where the characters are actually aware of their predicament but still have to find a way out of the loop, in which case the symbolism of space as discussed above would be even more fitting.
The characters would actually know more about their situation in this instance, but there would still be many things they don’t understand and need to find answers to, just like with our current knowledge of the ocean vs. space.
If the third (?) season is going to represent the final level in the experiment/type of simulation, it could simply take place on land, the median between the sky and the ocean and the thing most grounded to the human brain.
