On a random mission to a Ring colony, Naomi discovers her son is still alive - and in mortal danger.

This story was written as a part of the @sunflower-auction​ to support Ukraine. Thanks to Rodo for their generous donation! I appreciated their willingness to take a chance and bid on a writer who’d never participated in an auction before, and their patience as the process ended up taking much longer than expected.

cool, well I'm glad s6 stuck to the structure and simply did the 6th book + even set up the laconian conflict, rather than try to ignore that part

the thing as well being that 6-7 has a pretty big timeskip, so really everyone could get back together in 10-20 years and do the last third if they wanted and had cash

notices that if this is the final bit that'll ever be filmed how yes there are questions, but for the characters it's a net-win. they blast off into space, they're okay, marco inaros was beaten, the belters have actual political influence, filip even survived

which is how the book ends as well, but I went straight into the next one and realised pretty quickly that the last third is far more tragic overall.

different stories depending on where you end them. at least they all got some good years with each other despite the ending of the books, in some ways that's the real win of a story like this. and ending it on a question in the show (that yeah, I know the answer to because of the books, but still) has a kind of fulfilment to it -- where do they go next, what comes next, will they be safe and content forever, who cares right now, they've got a ship and a family and all of space

#i think if they were to do the last third -- drummer would be more prevalent i imagine #(possibly taking on sabas role....?) #they could do the plot with alex' kid travelling through the ring-gate #but who would get alex' emotional narrative related to his kid #i imagine bobbie's and clarissa's storylines would be very similar #same goes for the rocinante as a whole #the expanse
