Ninjago Rambling

Okay okay so we know the merge is also known as the coalescence By definition, it is the joining or merging of elements to form one mass or whole. What if. What if it is exactly that? The elements become far too unstable causing coalescence to happen?. That's why the first spinjitzu master made the golden weapons. To hold the element but that wasn't enough. So he then decided to make elemental masters that had the ability to withstand the elements' powers. But that wasn't enough either. He foresaw the coalescence due to the elements not being stabilized enough so he had to make the dragon cores out of pure elemental power to be able to stop the coalescence. That's why you have to use elemental power to close the merge quake. It would also explain how elements can be divided among several vessels or/and hosts. Ex: Nya, Nyad, amulets of Wojira. At least explains for the elements of creation and water and wind because I do HC the elements of creation to be the most powerful. One cannot handle it's raw power alone. So if the coalescence happened due to the elements not being stabilized enough how did it happen aka DR? Much like in Crystalized, several events caused the reaction. However, we can't assume FSM wasn't going to be aware of the events for at least in S1 and S2. To get to the prophecized battle between the Green Ninja and the Dark Lord, we had to get through S1. The events that might have caused the coalescence need to be after S2. In regards to that, I'm going back to the four elements of creation since they seem to be the most important.

1st event to trigger the coalescence would def be in S3 when Zane dies. It began to snow during Zane's funeral/rememberance. Although it's a sweet gesture I think this can be connected to the effects of Ragnork. Where it is said the first sign of Ragnork is Fimbulwinter which is three winters happen without a summer.

2nd event is when Zane and Cole (and if Jay also lost his elemental powers but I forgot) loses their elemental powers to Chen during S4 aka Tournament of Elements. Yes, many elemental holders lose their powers during S4 but I want to stay mostly focused on the four elements of creation. These elements are what FSM used to create Ninjago and several other realms. if they are indeed that powerful, then surely they would be the triggers to the Merge.

3rd event is in regards to Morro. Indeed he does not host one of the four elements of creation, however, I believe the elements of Wind and Water are the first two elements created by the instability of the four elements of creation. They are both powerful and ancient. I believe this would be the 3rd event because Morro had died but the element didn't move on to someone else. This error would def be a trigger

4th event is when Kai losing his elemental powers in S11 aka SoFS. Although it is not completely taken away from him as we learn throughout the season, it is still bad. Without a proper host, the element cannot be stable.

5th event is S14 aka Seabound. I don't think Wojira was meant to be awaken and thus another elemental master of water wasn't supposed to sacrifice themselves to merge with the ocean and save the day. Although it is not like the other events, I do believe it would be another trigger.

6th event is S15 aka Crystalized when Nya is stripped of her elemental powers. Again, going back to the idea that yes, she doesn't wield one of the elements of creation BUT the elements of Wind and Water are ancient enough and I believe second in importance. She does regain her element in time like Kai but the trigger still happened regardless. Because again, without a proper host, the element is unstable. Wu was not prepared for the coalescence because not all these events were meant to happen. Some were meant to happen but not all of them. By the time Wu realized the signs of the coalescence aka the Merge was to happen, it was too late Spoilers in regards to Dragons Rising below: It would also explain why FSM put the Dragon Cores in supposedly separate realms. Because he didn't see another coalescence to happen again. If he did, I'm sure he would have put them in Ninjago where the elemental masters are from. He left the realm crystal in Ninjago, he left the Golden Weapons of Spinjitzu in Ninjago, he left his staff in Ninjago. If he truly knew what was going to happen, he would be smart and keep the Dragon Cores in Ninjago. But he didn't. This means there have to be some events/triggers that he believed would never happen.

Free! The Final Stroke (part 2) reaction (spoilers)

okay. okay, okay. okay okay okay oakyokayokokokokokkkk

i actually watched the movie like a week ago but it was a whole mess and i was busy as heck for the past few weeks, so i didn't totally remember everything, but i went to rewatch it today and now i can properly screech about it!!!!! many spoilers ahead.

anyway, let's get the down to business first: natsuya scenes were far and few in between this time around, unfortunately. any time that he appeared was to just react to things going on around him/the competitions, throwing his arm around asahi and hiyori during the races (or just while hanging out at the cafe) or to encourage everyone, which is used as a transition into the next scene. HOWEVER!! he participates in a big national (international?) medley race at the end!!!!!!!!!

all of the training that everyone is doing is working up to the next all-japan swimming competition (like the one from s3) and then there's another huge international competition that all of the japan representatives who made the cut go to together as well.

the first half of the movie is mostly just a lot of haru drama again lmfao, like we ended the last movie with him being possessed by this weird competitive spirit that made him /need/ to beat albert volandel (the crazy fast guy who appears at the end of s3). and somehow that spirit sent him into a protective regression of himself that said some mean things to rin that pushed him away. rin was saying how he was gonna go pro and aim for the international stage or smth, and haru got scared that he was gonna get left behind bc he feels like all his friends are moving forward aka leaving him behind, so he said smth in his possessed state like "you always end up leaving, don't you"

and then haru starts overworking himself but swimming for speed rather than to be "free" like he usually does so he can beat albert, and he's in a hurry bc apparently albert announced that he was gonna retire after this last tournament, so haru wouldn't get a chance to beat him again after this year. so he's training his ass off to the point of sending his body into shutdown mode bc he's literally using up all of his oxygen and it exhausts him to the point of collapsing. he ends up napping quite a lot throughout the rest of the film as a repercussion of this too.

so anyway, we spend the first half watching all of haru's friends chase him down and try to get him to come to his senses and blah blah blah, which he eventually does and it is very, VERY gay. like rin was crying like a baby for a lot of this movie, it was kind of hilarious LOL. they really pushed the harurin agenda in this movie.

but ofc just one talk isn't enough for us to simply expect haru to come to his senses when it comes to race time. so he wins his first freestyle race, but he collapses from oxygen deprivation again and he misses his next race that he was supposed to compete with albert in rip. but in the end i think that was for the better, bc he accepted that he shouldn't/couldn't win by swimming that way anyway. but he DOES participate in the medley relay that comes the next day!!

much thanks to KIRISHIMA NATSUYA!!!! 😌✨ okay not really, it's just that in the room for all the jpn swimmers, the coach was about to announce the lineup for the med relay and then natsuya /interrupted/ like "EXCUSE ME, SIR. BUT NOT EVERYONE WHO IS MEANT TO SWIM THIS RELAY IS HERE YET. I NOMINATE HIM TO SWIM FREESTYLE IN THE MEDLEY RELAY." and asahi backs him up, then voila haru shows up to the room with his crew just in time to say "let me race in the med relay, coach" and ofc he gets what he wants lmfao.

BUT!!! haru and his team are gonna race in the finals, so there first needs to be a team to race in the prequalifiers(?) for the finals so!!! that team ends up being:

hiyori - backstroke ikuya - breaststroke natsuya - butterfly kinjou - freestyle

and WHAT A DREAM TEAM, I TELL YA 🤩 this was honestly the highlight of the entire film for me bc HELLO????? you got natsuya, you got hiyori, and you got the dark horse KINJOU being a FUCKING TSUN skfjaowifFJAOIEJOAI. like he volunteers to be part of the first team but he's like (to haru) "don't get the wrong idea. i'm swimming for /me/" but everyone else is like "lmao dude be honest with yourself, you're having fun"

AND GAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!! when i tell you the NATSUYA AND KINJOU interactions had me LIVING!!!! FLOURISHING!!! REBORN!!!! they literally only talked to each other like twice and it was through this medley interaction, but natsuya was just looking at him like what a cocky brat and kinjou is scoffing like whatever losers and it's HAIJFOAWEI HILARIOUS. SHOW STOPPING. LIFE CHANGING. i can't remember exactly what they were talking about, but it was usually along the lines of kinjou telling everyone to watch him dominate and then natsuya raising a brow at him like, "can't you be a little cuter/nicer about it" and then later when kinjou is complimenting someone else like "huh, guess you do got some chops" natsuya like "you're not really honest with yourself" (in like a, 'it's okay to care yannoe' kinda way), to which kinjou huffs and looks away like, "shut up"

CLASSIC TSUNDERE BEHAVIOR. I'M DOWN AND OUT. HE HAS ME. also this scene kind stood out to me, where after haru passed out after that first international race (that led to him missing his race with albert), kinjou was the one who found him outside of the pool area in like, the hall(?) and sleeping on a bench. and he PUT HIS JACKET!!! OVER HARU!!!! eventually makoto and sousuke show up and kinjou is like "why the hell is everyone so crazy over this guy?" and yanno what, sir? WOULDN'T WE ALL LIKE TO KNOW. sousuke was like "well you swam with him before, wouldn't you know by that?" and i guess he has some sort of aha moment later during his own race (where albert is actually looking around for haru, but kinjou tells him that haru isn't showing up) and he does his best. and he ends up with bronze!!!!! you go boy!!!!!! albert wins gold ofc but when they're on the medal stands, kinjou looks up and asks him "are you sure you're satisfied with this?" which i'm pretty sure has some sort of weigh in to when albert eventually decides to participate in next year's tournament again.

also tell me why the start of this movie is a fucking romantic ass rain scene, filled with love triangle shit again. like we already know that kinjou had a childhood crush on hiyori (/exaggerated) from the previous movie, so we open when hiyori waiting in cafe maron (asahi's sister's cafe) and offering to bring an umbrella to ikuya. and for some fucking reason, ikuya is standing under a bridge to avoid the rain with kinjou of all people??????? i didn't really understand the premise of why they were both there at the same time, but they were talking about the competitions to come, and haru, and other ppl in their circles. but for some reason kinjou apologizes to ikuya for smth and then runs off into the rain????

and then????? sousuke????? shows up?????? and remember, we're under a random ass bridge away from the street!!! ???? and apparently they're meeting for the first time bc they're telling each other to call them by their first names and sousuke finally mentions how he first noticed ikuya through that medley he swam himself a while ago. and then they talk for a bit about their friends before hiyori comes running towards the bridge in the rain with an umbrella for ikuya and i'm just OTLLLLL i'm over it. i'm over this. i hate gay ppl.

and then we transition into a video call between the MIKOSHIBA SIBLINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!! i absolutely LIVE for this family!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i would probably let any one of them do anything they wanted with me, but ofc my heart goes out to seijuurou first bc you know why (tsudaken privileges). they were talking about some upcoming swimming stuff too before another transition but i just loved seeing this three way video call!!!! they are so freaking cute and precious and funny and loud and chaotic and!!!! let me marry into this family, pls.

ALSO!!! momotaro is now the captain of samezuka's swim club!!!! that boy really grew up 😭😭😭 thinking about s2 momo who was planning to skip out of swimming club to go skirt chasing after school every day and now he's the captain!!!!!!!! attaboy!!!!!!!!

so obviously that means the others have graduated now, and nagisa and rei and nitori are all finally in college!!!! rei and nitori end up going to hidaka with ikuya and hiyori, and they make the gayest most flamboyant introductions bc ofc they do. but NAGISA!!! ENDS UP GOING TO /KINJOU'S/ UNIVERSITY!!!!!!!! WAHAHAHTHT. and i know you know what comes next....

YES. EXACTLY. HE SHOWS UP CALLING HIM "KIN-CHAN" KSLDFJALKFJAOEI. AND WHAT'S THE WILDEST PART IS THAT KINJOU DOESN'T EVEN SEEM TO MIND????? like nagisa is introducing himself and right away asks, "hey kin-chan, can we swim together/you teach me how to [smth]" and??? kinjou says okay????? and gets right to work???????????

it's hilarious bc some of the samezuka guys who were in the same year as nitori are like 'wow maybe he's not such a scary guy after all' so they follow nagisa's lead and ask him for help. but suddenly kinjou is annoyed and yelling at them not to depend on someone else for help and then they're all crying like 'he is a scary person after all!! 😭'

also, in addition to kin-chan, nagisa has added "iku-chan" to his repertoire now and when kisumi was teasing him about it, ikuya was like "whatever, i'm already used to it" like damn nagisa. your power.

the rest of the movie i don't really care for since there is no more significant natsuya or kinjou screen time, but when haru's medley relay team (sousuke, ikuya, rin, haru) swims in the finals, they actually win gold!!!! however, haru passes out at the end at some point and then after the credits roll, he's in hungary for rehabilitation? even tho he's now the face of japanese swimming with some sort of billboard in shibuya or smth lmfao. but yeah, he and rin are both in hungary for some reason that i didn't catch, prob pro swimming stuff. makoto goes to visit him bc he's his husband obviously, but he greets him like "it's been a while" so idk how long he's been in hungary.

but we end the movie at the next big intl swimming competition and albert and haru can compete against each other forreal this time i guess. and then it blacks out right before haru dives into the water, and he references that line that he said at the beginning of s1 and the end of the last movie, "when you're 5, you're a prodigy. when you're 15, you're a genius. when you're 20, you're just normal." and this time, he says, "i've still a little more time before i become normal"(?) i'm not entirely sure/don't remember properly. but that was rather poetic, like he was finally accepting a lot of things about himself. and it seemed to wrap up his story nicely.

ANYWAY. i think that just might be it for the free! series??? i'm not sure if there is going to be any more official animation content after this, but it was such a wild ride. ofc kyoani had the BEST pretty boy animation in all the world, and i enjoyed every single illustration or water animation, like fuck, it was so gorgeous. but i'ma miss it for sure 😭 i love all those dumb, half naked, dramatic, swimming boys.

i will lastly mention that the soundtrack was OTHERWORLDLY. it was makoto's VA and his band singing and the song at the beginning of the movie was SOOOO GOOD. i'm waiting for the day for them to release it onto streaming platforms, or even youtube or smth, but i can't find the track ANYWHERE yet 😭 i think they gotta sell some of the cd's first before they release it online, but i tell ya, it's STARTLINGLY GOOD. i think it's called "this fading blue" or smth like that, i'm not entirely sure. i tried shazaming it during the film. but since it's not released yet, shazam didn't pick it up. once it's out tho, best know i'm boutta repeat the shit outta that album.

i think that is all i had to get out. overall, i think i still like part 1 better simply bc of my need for natsuya screen time, but this was a nice way to wrap up their story. unfortunately, didn't get natsuya with the random cards this time around... i did see someone with a mikoshiba siblings card tho, i was so jealous 😭 but these boys are nice too. will never forget the amount of happiness this series gave me 🥺💞
