I think the grocery store got wise to the fact that a lot of people wait until after a holiday to buy leftover holiday crap on sale, because the entire Valentine's Day rack at the store is gone. Not empty, just gone. Replaced by a wall of soda and chips. There's no way they sold out because the rack was full of candy and flowers and balloons just last night, so they had to have decided to cut their losses and deprive the populace of our right to discounted chocolate assortments. They'd rather sell nothing than give away deals. Prices had gone up exprbitantly ahead of the holiday, so they made up the difference early so they could cut and run the next day. Damn them! Damn them all to hell!

no song will ever top "we found a house with a yard and moved all of my things in and most of your things in" as an opening line. that is a past, present, and future in 20 words. you know exactly who this couple is. they're the hairline cracks in a beloved mug. they would fit so well if they fit. they've clung to each other far longer than they should've (one clinging more tightly than the other) and now they've finally started to realize ... this wasn't ever going to work, was it?
