Cal & Emily Lightman / Paul & Eve Ekman
This was a nice tweet from Dr. Paul Ekman wishing Hayley McFarland, who played Emily Lightman, a happy birthday. Cal Lightman is loosely based off of Dr. Ekman, and just like Cal, he has a daughter (though Dr. Ekman has been married for over 30 years and has two children, unlike Cal, who’s divorced).
The link directs you to Dr. Ekman’s website page about Lie to Me; the link to the tweet is: https://twitter.com/PaulEkman/status/1111694593622532097 He posts regularly about microexpressions and emotions. If you’re a fan of the show, I highly recommend you to follow him.

taylor’s 14 days of christmas
Tumblr media
iin case you didn't know, i love holidays, especially chrismtas. it's my favorite holiday. so, every other day until christmas, i will drop a fic every other day. i'm doing 14 days, which includes christmas eve and christmas eve.
just want to say there's a lot of dad!player fics in here because imagining all of them as dads makes my heart melt, so if you don't like that or if that makes you uncomfortable, please don't read those. i don't want to make anyone uncomfortable.
day one (december 1) - the star - andrei svechnikov
y/n and andrei, with the help of their two kids theo and anastasia, decorated their house for christmas.(part of the “mr. and mrs. svechnikov” series) (forgot to add this edit)
day two (december 3) - lights out - joel farabee
while y/n and joel are decorating their home for christmas, the power goes out, leaving them both in the dark.
day three (december 5): dreaming of a white christmas - quinn hughes
y/n's lived in a city where it never snows, so when she moves to vancouver, her one goal is to wake up on christmas morning to a white snowy chrismtas.
day four (december 7): santa claus is coming to town - sidney crosby
y/n and sidney spend the day with their children, putting up the christmas tree, decorating the house, making cookies, writing letters to santa, and most important of all, getting cups of hot chocolate.
day five (december 9): cookie decorating - william nylander
y/n used to decorate cookies with family before christmas every year, so will and y/n decided to continue the tradition with their family. (part of "the nylander diaires" series)
day six (december 11): christmas sweaters - oliver ekman-larsson
oliver comes home with y/n for the holidays, but there's one thing she left out. y/n's mom has a stockpile of christmas sweaters, one from each year since her older brother was born. and when she heard oliver was coming over, she immediately ordered one for him too.
day seven (december 13): good tidings - dougie hamilton
y/n works at a hospital, and as a surprise to all the kids, y/n asks her boyfriend dougie to come visit. he agrees, and invites a few friends along.
day eight (december 15): meeting the in-laws - nico hishcier
y/n's never met nico's parents. not in the whole year and a half they've been dating. so he invited y/n home for the holidays, and introduces her to the family.
day nine (december 17): lit up like a chrismtas tree - oliver wahlstrom
y/n and oliver live on opposite sides of the country, so as a little holiday surprise, oliver decides to fly out and surprise her.
day ten (december 19): baby's first christmas - freddie andersen
y/n and freddie spend their first christmas as parents with little baby elias. (part of the "andersen adventures" series)
day eleven (december 21): special delievery - jamie oleksiak
y/n's due date was christmas, but baby oleksiak decides they don't want to wait that long, and decides to come sooner.
day twelve (december 23): christmas is going to the dogs - tyler seguin
tyler and y/n celebrate christmas with the dogs.
day thirteen (december 24): a cliche chrismtas love story - jeff skinner
y/n gets dumped right before christmas, so to drown her sorrows she goes to a bar where she meets jeff.
day fourteen (december 25): all i want for christmas is a dog - erik johnson
the only thing the johnson kids want for christmas is a dog. (part of the "life with the johnsons" series).

Aqui segue alguns aspectos do Atlas.
A primeira tela é essa:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
No terceiro, temos a experiencia.

She’s Out of My League (2010)
Comedy, Romance
An airport security guard gets involved with a girl who’s very obviously of a higher caliber than himself, and schemes to make the relationship last as his friends and family watch along in disbelief. Kirk (Baruchel) was languishing in a dead-end job as an airport security agent when he somehow managed to earn the affections of the successful and drop-dead gorgeous Molly (Eve).
Even Kirk isn’t exactly sure what Molly sees in him, though he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make the relationship work. With his friends, family, and ex-girlfriend all watching stunned from the sidelines, Kirk discovers that he’ll have to work overtime in order to convince Molly that he’s worth hanging on to.
Director: Jim Field Smith

The Phantom Carriage (1921) – Episode 85 – Decades of Horror: The Classic Era
“Though horse and carriage are always the same, the driver is not. The last soul to die each year - the one who passes over at the stroke of midnight - is destined to be Death's driver for the following year.” Sounds like a good gig except they left out the “one night is like 100 years” part. Join this episode’s Grue-Crew - Whitney Collazo, Chad Hunt, Jeff Mohr, and listener guest host Daphne Monary-Ernsdorff - as they travel to Sweden for a silent ride in The Phantom Carriage (1921).
Decades of Horror: The Classic Era Episode 85 – The Phantom Carriage (1921)
On New Year's Eve, the driver of a ghostly carriage forces a drunken man to reflect on his selfish, wasted life.

Victor Sjöström’s The Phantom Carriage is a groundbreaking silent film for both its narrative structure and its multiple exposure visual effects. This episode’s Grue-Crew marveled at the depth of the character development. They’re also wowed by the effective use of up to four-layered multiple exposures. The film also incorporates social problems of the times - alcoholism and tuberculosis - that resonate with ills of the current times. Of course, the crew discusses the legendary scene that inspired the “Heeere’s Johnny” scene in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining (1980).
The Grue-Crew universally regard The Phantom Carriage as a remarkable film. It is currently available to stream on the Criterion Channel and on physical media as a Criterion Blu-ray disk.
Chad, Whitney, and Jeff give a big Grue-Crew thank you to Daphne Monary-Ernsdorff for her insightful contributions to this episode … and for reading the book!
Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror: The Classic Era records a new episode every two weeks. The next episode in their very flexible schedule, chosen by their next super-secret guest host, will be Onibaba (1964), a Japanese film written and directed by Kaneto Shindô, loosely based on a Shin Buddhist parable.
Please let them know how they’re doing! They want to hear from you – the coolest, grooviest fans: leave them a message or leave a comment on the site or email the Decades of Horror: The Classic Era podcast hosts at [email protected]

On oublie.

Teams re-sign stars a year ahead of free agency
New Post has been published on https://is.gd/rFJRnv
Teams re-sign stars a year ahead of free agency
When John Tavares’ contract ran out with the New York Islanders, he took the opportunity to talk with other teams.
“I felt like I owed it to myself to see what else was out there,” Tavares said.
Tavares’ exploration led him to rediscover his childhood affinity for the Maple Leafs, and his confidence in Toronto’s future led him to sign a monster $77 million, seven-year contract. The Islanders were left with nothing, a mistake other NHL franchises seem determined not to make.
Don’t wait. Sometimes not even a day.
On Sunday, when Tavares’ departure left a void on Long Island, the Sharks signed Logan Couture, Coyotes signed Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Kings signed Drew Doughty and Lightning signed Ryan McDonagh to long-term deals. None of them would have been free agents until July 1, 2019, and this was the first possible chance to ink extensions that begin more than a year from now.
It’s worth every penny to San Jose, Arizona, Los Angeles and Tampa Bay to get those contracts done now rather than risk a key player even exploring unrestricted free agency like Tavares did.
“If you wait too long and you get into the situation where they have the potential to walk or explore the UFA market, that can be challenging times,” Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said.
The Ottawa Senators are trapped in such challenging times. They made a contract offer to Norris Trophy-winning captain and 2019 free agent Erik Karlsson, but it’s not a great sign that the real negotiating is only just beginning.
“We’re not going there,” GM Pierre Dorion said. “We don’t really want to talk about roster players, contract negotiations, trades, all these things, but I think we owe it to our fans and we made a promise at the town hall that we would make a contract offer to Erik Karlsson and we’ve done so.”
Tick, tick, tick. Even a year away, the pressure is on the Senators to sign Karlsson long term or trade him before the deadline so they don’t end up like the Islanders.
The Coyotes made sure they wouldn’t be in that spot by locking up Ekman-Larsson to a $66 million, eight-year deal that the soon-to-be 27-year-old defenseman called “a no-brainer.” Arizona GM John Chayka calls it “a huge moment for our entire organization” because there’s now no fear of losing Ekman-Larsson for nothing.
“A superstar-caliber player has the option to basically go to any of the 31 teams and felt the loyalty, felt the belief in what we were doing enough to sign on long term,” Chayka said, adding that the Coyotes had to convince Ekman-Larsson with actions that they were moving in the right direction.
The Kings convinced Doughty of that so much, he knew all season he was going to re-sign. He’s building a new house in the LA area, is getting married this summer and is ready to start a family in a place he wants to stay for essentially the balance of his career.
“I never wanted to leave there, to be honest,” Doughty said. “It will be nice not to answer the question, ‘Hey are you coming to Toronto? You’re coming to the Leafs, right?’ No, I’m not coming to the Leafs, everyone.”
Doughty signing for $88 million over eight years sets the bar for Karlsson, who could face similar questions if he goes into the season without a future contract like Tavares did. Over the past week, Tavares began wondering if he would play for his hometown Maple Leafs, a bond too deep for the Islanders to overcome.
Couture grew up not far from Toronto, but he never entertained that possibility because he signed a $64 million, eight-year deal with the Sharks. Couture respected Tavares’ choice and made his own without much difficulty.
“We have some very good players: Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Brent Burns, Martin Jones, Evander Kane — very, very good players — Joe Pavelski,” Couture said, rattling off core players all signed long term. “I want to win. That’s my goal as a hockey player. I believe that San Jose has and will continue to have a very, very good chance at winning in the future. That’s why my decision was so easy.”
It was just as easy for McDonagh, who signed a $47.25 million, seven-year deal with the Lightning, who acquired him at the trade deadline. McDonagh was comfortable with Tampa Bay, which went through an almost-Tavares situation two years ago with captain Steven Stamkos before signing him on the eve of free agency.
Days after signing Stamkos in 2016, the Lightning extended top defenseman Victor Hedman at the first possibly moment like they did with McDonagh. GM Steve Yzerman knows how to work ahead, which is often essential in today’s NHL with important players.
“(If you wait), you don’t really know how it’s going to go,” Yzerman said. “We go into next year for both parties, we don’t know, and I think it’s worthwhile exploring the opportunity now.”

Mathieu Perreault Set to Shine and Other Good Options for the Week Ahead
All fantasy owners need help in the short term AND the long term. The Looking Ahead feature identifies one player to plug into lineups in the short term, a second to invest in for the long term, a third to bench for the coming week, and a fourth who will struggle to meet expectations for some time. All players discussed are selected based on their upcoming schedule. Stats in this article updated through December 21st – HAPPY HOLIDAYS
The Immediate Fix (Grab this guy and use him for the next several days)
Oliver Bjorkstrand, RW, Columbus (Available in 92 percent of Yahoo! Leagues) – Bjorkstrand has bounced between the 2nd, 3rd and 4th lines in Columbus this season, which is fairly typical for a Tortorella-coached team, but he’s produced consistently for a young player – and sees power play time – and is in a great spot while Cam Atkinson and Alex Wennberg are on the mend. In the first game without the aforementioned Jackets, Bjorkstrand saw 17:16 (his third-most ice time on the year) and got on the scoresheet with an assist and a +1 with 1SOG. Bjorkstrand is more a set-up man than a Cy Young winner, with 6G-18A, so he should especially be targeted by players lagging in the assist category.
The Building Block (Buy now, sit back and enjoy the production)
Mathieu Perreault, RW, Winnipeg (Available in 82 percent of Yahoo! Leagues) – With Mark Scheifele out 4-6 weeks, that’s a great opportunity for a player that should really already be owned in most leagues, even as a 4th-liner. Perreault now gets the chance to jump up with Bryan Little and Nikolaj Ehlers, so his ice time should rise from the 12:24 he’s currently seeing on average to something closer to the 16-minute range. Perreault has 9G-11A in only 26 games with that minimal ice time – including 8PPP – and should look to improve on that with his new role.
The Odd Man Out (His short-term value is cause for concern)
Oliver Ekman-Larsson, D, Arizona (Owned in 90 percent of Yahoo! Leagues) – OEL is still one of the league’s best fantasy defensemen, so in no way, shape or form should he be dropped, but there are a lot of factors that make shipping him out or at the very least benching him the right decision. As mentioned below, the ‘Yotes only play three games in this next stretch which obviously hurts, but OEL has only one assist (no goals) going back to November 30th. He’s still playing 20+ minutes a night and getting the puck to the net, but as a consistently minus player that doesn’t collect a ton of hits or blocks, he needs to get points to retain value. OEL’s young counterpart Jakob Chychrun has put up 1G-4A in that time, which makes OEL’s points drying up look even worse.
The Anchors (They’ll do nothing but disappoint even over the long haul)
Scott Darling, G, Carolina (Owned in 53 percent of Yahoo! Leagues) – Here’s an idea of how poorly Darling has performed this season: he’s losing his starting job (handed to him almost sight-unseen) to CAM WARD – Ward with the career .909SV and negative GSAA over his career is beating out Darling on what should be a good Carolina team. Darling is currently sporting a sub-.900 save percentage, has only eight wins in 23 starts, and has let in four or more in six games this season. There are better backup goalies sitting on the wire (Aaron Dell, Malcolm Subban, etc.), so Darling can safely be dropped.
Love ‘Em (These squads are sure to pay dividends in the coming days)
Ottawa – The Nation’s Capital is having more than their fair share of struggles these days, especially defensively, but their schedule is loaded in this period. The Sens play seven times, which unfortunately means three separate back-to-backs, but on volume alone any Senator player still hanging around fantasy teams should be used. They play five of the seven at home, and travel only to Detroit and Columbus, which is not a lot of wear & tear.
Toronto – Ontario’s OTHER team (oft-forgotten) also has seven games in this period, and with Auston Matthews and lines that should stick together, look for lots of scoring and fantasy success with Leafs players upcoming. Once the Leafs are back from Colorado and Vegas to close out 2017, the Leafs are at home for five straight with no back-to-backs. The competition is a little tougher than what Ottawa gets, but there is a Battle of Ontario that should lengthen the scoresheet.
New York Islanders – The Islanders have one of the best lines in hockey with Lee-Tavares-Bailey, one of the most exciting second lines in hockey with Ladd-Barzal-Eberle, and have scored three or more in eight of their past ten games. With games at Winnipeg, Colorado and Philadelphia mixed with home games against the Devils and Penguins, look for the Isle to keep putting the puck in the net with ease.
Leave ‘Em (These squads will leave fantasy owners sorely disappointed in the short term)
Los Angeles – Los Angeles gets to spend their New Year’s shuttling back-and-forth in Western Canada, as the Kings’ road trip against Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary is split up by the holiday. Their fourth and last game in this period comes at home against Nashville, thanks to their bye week.
Washington – The Capitals have struggled to score lately – especially on the power play – getting shut out twice (back-to-back) before finally getting three non-shootout goals on the Bruins. They’ll need the mini-bye week that’s not officially their bye week to reset – they only play four times between the 30th and 9th, and have their actual bye week starting the 13th.
Arizona – The Coyotes have one of the softest schedules in this stretch thanks to the holidays and the start of their bye week: only three games for the Desert Dogs between Dec. 29th and Jan. 10th, and the three games come against much better teams (not that that’s a stretch). @ Anaheim on New Year’s Eve, then home vs. the Preds and Rangers, not much of a cakewalk. Put any Coyotes on the shelf.
