Few AUs have festered in my mind like @emelinstriker ESAU has.

Their “this is an X Reader scenario” has my mind in an endless grip. The possibilities are endless, especially since said reader is reincarnated…who knows how many times.

… but then there’s that part of my brain that goes “okay but… what if they had a nightmare of the stuff that happens in ‘other universes?’ in this case, since it is specified this AU does not have the Lady Bone Demon (though the designs are inspired by them- very nice btw) how would the reader react when they have nightmares of this strange, powerful being, that has seized her favorite monkies and is hurting them in ways the reader never wanted them to endure? (I’m still not over those scenes of- spoilers for season 3- EVERYTHING that LBD did to Macaque, and Wukong getting taken over, even temporarily. Just… oh my goodness.) there’s still a lot more to the AU I’m sure but… i think it’s safe to say the Reader would be hugging their Wukong and Macaque with all their strength and would not let go. You know…

Why does Isaac’s love for Esau have a reason, but Rebecca’s love for Jacob doesn't?

The Netziv teaches that there are two kinds of love. The first is love for the person himself. The second is love for what the person does for you. Isaac loves Esau because he enjoys the delicious meat his son brings him, but Rebecca’s love for Jacob is unconditional. She loves him for who he is, not what he does.

In our modern society, it is common when meeting someone new to ask, “What do you do?” The Dubno Maggid (quoted by Rabbi Frand) says that this represents Esau’s values. If we admire others because of what they accomplish, then if they stop accomplishing we’ll stop admiring them. Jacob represents Jewish values. What someone does for a living is less important than the kind of person they are. If we love someone for their essential qualities rather than what they can do for us, that love will never fade.

Once I saw ESAU!MKs small description that Wukong fixes his scarf-cape, I HAD to draw it.
