Azura: "It was... pretty awful if I'm being honest with myself.

"He definitely didn't have any respect for what I wanted, that's for sure. He tried, I guess, to help me control the power, and some of that's helpful now, but... I know he did it for his own sake"

"I figured, at the very least, I was keeping him home. Out of trouble. Despite it all, he was still my brother, you know?"

"Either way, I never saw him again after that. I don't think I ever will again I guess that's probably why that dream picked him out of all the people in my life at the end"

(Ask-A-Staravia) "Perhaps this 'Lillian' stayed in hiding for so long because she didn't want to get into any more trouble than she already was..." Setsuko muses half to herself, half to Kainda and Erika. "Do you two have any theories?"
“Well… from what was gathered during her arrest, before much of the evidence went up in flames, she kept committing her crimes despite the threat of investigation as the arresting parties counted 37, I think, ‘trophies’ in her basement before it and the entire house burst into flames.” Kainda states.
“The other thing is that when interviews with others within Kuron town about Lillian say that she is described as being ‘erratic and eccentric’ regarding her ‘normal behavior, violent or dangerous wasn’t a thought in those descriptions just odd yet harmless,” Erika added.

Pokemon Card of the Day #3010: Crobat (Neo Revelation)
Tumblr media
Around when Neo Revelation was released, people were desperate to find answers to Feraligatr, a card that had dominated tournaments from the moment the first three sets of the game were rotated out. There were some where 7 of the top 8 spots were taken by Feraligatr, while the ones that weren't had quite the contingent of Slowking. People tried all sorts of Grass-types before, with Erika's Victreebel likely being the closest to getting somewhere back then, but even that missed a clean KO and had to worry about the one Fire deck, Typhlosion, running it over. Then Neo Revelation finally came out and a serious Grass contender was in it. Crobat lacked the Fire Weakness and had a 5/16 chance of getting to the damage needed to take out a Feraligatr. Even if it didn't, another 6/16 was setting Confusion while doing a solid 80. This, with some nice other stats, made Crobat the obvious anti-Feraligatr play. There, was, of course, more than Feraligatr, especially as the game moved forward, so only time would tell if Crobat could actually keep up once one card wasn't so dominant.
90 HP was pretty average for a Stage 2 back then. Most decks would be going for a 2-hit KO on that, though amazingly enough Feraligatr itself could often get to the point where it could take a healthy Crobat down, making the match-up closer to even than anyone had hoped. The Psychic Weakness was more of an issue once Neo Destiny came out with Dark Gengar, and in the shift to Neo-On people used Espeon a good bit. Fighting was a nice Resistance, mostly for Tyrogue, though you'd see Donphan and Giovanni's Machamp often enough for it to be notable. Crobat was also lucky enough to be able to Retreat for free. While that wasn't too rare at the time, it was still very nice and often made Double Gust into a risk-free Trainer.
Triggered Poison didn't do a lot of damage, at just 20 for a Grass Energy. While that would have been good on a Basic, Crobat was a Stage 2 and you usually wanted more. However, if the opponent attached an Energy card to the Defending Pokemon during their next turn, that Pokemon was then Poisoned. This was a bit of an anti-Steelix measure, though the real anti-Steelix measure was the Zubat that just guaranteed Poison. Said match-up was still pretty rough, but not impossible.
Cross Attack was the big one here. Sadly, it was all about coin flips, and that was a problem for a Stage 2 that needed 2 Grass and a Colorless Energy. The good news was that a positive outcome was more likely than a negative one here. 4 coin flips got you 20 damage for each heads, with 3 being the goal to get to 60 (or 120 against Feraligatr). That wasn't too likely but did happen just under a third of the time. The attack would have been worse if it wasn't for the added effect. If 2 or more of the flips were heads, the Defending Pokemon was also Confused. Confusion was quite powerful at the time, since retreating required paying the Retreat Cost first and then flipping a coin, with tails meaning no retreating for the turn while losing the Energy. A 69% chance of Confusion was enough to make this a rather scary attack, though also scary to use since the 31% chance of 20 or lower damage with no Confusion was pretty significant too.
Crobat got a solid amount of play just to mess with Feraligatr, while also being useful against the later Dark Feraligatr and any Fighting decks that came along. There were still times that it would fall flat simply due to variance, which scared some people off of it, and it was best described as a mid-tier deck all things considered. It's still pretty good in the modern version of Rocket-On, too, though its targets are somewhat less common now. Crobat could get away with some of its issues simply because so much of the game at the time was luck-based even for Pokemon standards, and it had a solid place in the game.

Farewell to You, ch 9
Everyone brought out their Pokemon to fight. Gary brought out his Blastoise. Erika brought out her Venusaur. Clemont brought out his Luxray. Serena brought out her Delphox. Anabel brought out her Alakazam. Looker brought out his Poochyena. Gladion threw a pokeball and out came Silvally. Kiawe brought out his Alolan Marowak. Olivia brought out her Lycanroc. Sophicles brought out his Togedemaru. Lana brought out her Primarina. Mallow brought out her Tsareena.
Ranee took out a pokeball and out came her Infernape. Paul threw a pokeball and out came Torterra. Dawn let go of Piplup. Kenny threw a pokeball and out came his Breloom. Barry took out a pokeball and out came his Emploeon. Bianca threw a pokeball and out came Zebstrika. Zoey took out a pokeball and her Glameow appeared. Todd threw a pokeball and out came Kori. Misty brought out Togetic. Brock out Steelix. Lucy brought out her Milotic. Jessie brought out her Seviper. James brought out his Carnvine. Brandon brought out Registeel. Rudy brought out his Starmie.
Rudy turned to Melody, "Please be careful."
Melody promised, "I will."
Ash urged Pikachu to go with him, "C'mon, Pikachu."
"Pika!" Pikachu said.
The two got on Silver. Silver swam off, since it was much more of a powerful swimmer.
Misty whispered, "Be safe, Ash."
As the group was fighting the airship, more and more Legendaries and Mythicals came. Manaphy came next. Yoni was sending out more floating stones. She wanted to collect Kyogre first. But it was giving her trouble. She gritted her teeth.
She said, "This is going to be harder than I thought."
As she said that, she noticed that the group was attacking her airship. She growled. As if she didn't have enough problems. She was going down but she wasn't going down without a fight.
The computer stated, "30% damage to the airship, Yoni."
Yoni said, "I figured. Let's boost the engine's power."
The computer did as it was told. The engine's power was boosted as she kept going after Kyogre. But the Water type was going faster than she expected. She growled more. She was going to collect them all. No matter what it took. The attacks kept coming at the airship. More Legendaries and Mythical Pokemon appeared to challenge Yoni. Yoni knew what she had to do. So the floating stones she had flew down, trying to slow down the heroes and collect the Pokemon. Melody and Ash both screamed in fear. Pikachu was scared so was Silver. Silver was trying its hardest to avoid them.
Brandon sneered, "Someone has to get up there."
Anabel told him, "Leave that to me." She turned to Looker, "Cover me!"
Looker promised, "I will!"
She turned to Alakazam and commanded, "Teleport me up there, Alakazam!"
"Ala!" It said, teleporting her up to the airship.
Yoni wasn't paying attention to what was happening on the ground. When Anabel appeared into the airship, she quickly went over to the Legendary Birds.
She promised, "Don't worry, I'll get you out."
She grabbed the rope and pulled hard on it. Zapdos watched her carefully. Anabel was gritting her teeth. Zapdos decided to help as it started to break the rope with its beak. Soon enough, the rope broke. Zapdos shrieked happily.
Anabel smiled, "You're free!"
"Not for long!" Anabel turned on her heel, seeing Yoni right behind her. She had a Meowscarada with her. Yoni told her, "You are going down, Salon Maiden!"
Before Anabel could react, Zapdos did. It used its Discharge attack to hold back Yoni and Meowscarada. Anabel was worried but saw this as her chance. She helped Moltres next. She called on her Espeon to help, so she could get them free faster. Espeon worked on getting Articuno free. Zapdos was still battling Meowscarada, using Drill Peck. The Grass/Dark type used Flower Trick. Zapdos shrieked. Just then, Anabel and Espeon freed both Moltres and Articuno. The two of them flew over to help Zapdos. As they all battled together, Anabel and Espeon worked on both Lugia's next.
As the fight continued, the airship was starting to crash land. Anabel saw this and hugged her Espeon tightly. She wasn't going to let her Pokemon get hurt. Both of the Lugia's used Psychic to protect each other and them. The airship crashed. Yoni and Meowscarada were knocked out. Anabel got up, smiling at the two Lugia.
She said, "Thank you both."
Lugia regarded, "You're welcome. And thank you, Salon Maiden."
Anabel told Lugia, "I prefer Anabel."
It was at that moment, Anabel had gotten them free. That's when she heard footsteps coming up from behind her. When she noticed that Espeon wasn't protecting her, she figured that it was one of her friends.
"Anabel! Oh thank goodness!"
Nope, it was Looker. Looker, Alakazam, and Poochyena.
She turned, "Looker?"
Looker came over to her, hugging her tightly. "I'm so glad that you are alright."
Anabel returned the hug, sniffling, "Thank you, Looker."
Looker kissed her head. There was no way he was losing her. Salon Maiden or not. That's when they came out of the airship, hand in hand. Alakazam had teleported Yoni and Meowscarada to International Police HQ. Anabel perked up as she heard that Lugia's song started to play. The rainbow light went away in the water. Both Lugia started to feel better. So did the three Legendary Birds.
Anabel kissed Looker, surprising him. Looker held her close, blushing. As the song played, the birds all started to fly towards the altar. Silver, Melody, Ash, and Pikachu were there. They looked like they had barely made it. Ash waved at the Legendary Birds. He was so glad that it was over. All of the Legendary and Mythical Pokemon were starting to leave. Everything was starting to go back to normal.
Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres flew around happily. Lugia offered them a ride back to the others. Ash, Pikachu, and Melody got on. Lugia took off. The second Lugia flew off too as Silver followed in the water. Once they got back to the others, Melody got off and Ash offered his hand to Misty. Misty blushed as she took Ash's hand. The three of them flew around on Lugia's back.
As they flew around, Misty held onto Ash from behind. She wrapped her arms around his waist, making them both blush. Pikachu giggled at them. Ash turned to her, cupping her chin. Misty blushed, looking at him. Ash was blushing too. They moved towards each other, meeting in the middle, and kissed each other. They held each other close as Lugia kept flying. Pikachu just smiled.

Chloe and Eevee
My guess and prediction to what she picks
Tumblr media
So Chloe is seemingly having her conclusion episode to her Eevee arc soon
And there's a good chance she doesn't evolve Eevee
But of the eight possibilities for her to evolve Eevee into
Tumblr media
I'm leaning towards Flareon
Tumblr media
No other main/substantial character has a Flareon in the anime
May had Glaceon, Serena has Syleon, Gladion Gary, and others had Umbreon. So I think even if not guaranteed think it eliminates those three.
(Not even including characters like Zoey or Anabel that have Leafeon and Espeon respectively)
Leaving Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Leafeon, and Espeon. As my list of possibilities
So why do I pick Flareon?
Recently in other media like games Flareon has a bit of focus, in Masters EX Tina is part of the anime promotion event with Ash and she has a Flareon
Tumblr media
even in cafe remix the team event Pokemon is Flareon.
Tumblr media
So to me that's a hint of what's to come
But admittedly that could just be a coincidence
I think in the anime it's good to point out that Chloe was given a Water Stone, Thunder Stone, and Fire Stone,
She did also get perfume from Erika as well (Leafeon Trainer)
But given Leafeon's weird way to evolve with the mossy stone (granted was changed in Gen 8 however she still doesn't she doesn't have a Leaf Stone)
I would eliminate Leafeon (Glaceon as well if not already)
Tumblr media
Espeon evolves through friendship during the day so depending on the episode I heard she's camping implying night so I won't cross it out but I think it takes the agency out of Chloe and Eevee's choice as that evolution is more random/circumstantial/uncontrollable
So I'm leaning towards the original 3 eeveelutions
They're the Kanto eeveelutions and Chloe is Kantonian
Was given stones for then
Gives choice to her along with the agency to do so
So which of the three?
Based on the tie that Eevee’s “evolution” choice has to Chloe's choice for her goal in life I think the types correlate to that
Vaporeon is a water type and it doesn't mean she has to, but does sort of imply that choosing Vaporeon means she will have a water-related goal like the water racing we've seen
Tumblr media
And to me, it doesn't seem Chloe gravitated to that so I'm eliminating Vaporeon
Leaving Jolteon and Flareon
Tumblr media
They had the unique episode of being tied together in the circus episode
Which gave us two but also didn't lock them down as unlike with Vaporeon, Flareon and Jolteon doesn't mean she's tied to the circus as a goal
If anything it was just another aspect of something performance-related like Sylveon with contests spectacular, Dawn with contests and kind of Leafeon with flower arranging as thats part of fashion
So between these two...
With the game stuff I mentioned, and technically she has an electric type at home with the families Yamper, I'm leaning slightly more towards Flareon
Back to Espeon
Tumblr media
So outside of the agency aspect
(as they can write around that I think)
Espeon can also work
The Espeon and Umbreon episode doesn't really focus on a goal for Chloe just lets her have experience and knowledge about two more eeveelutions
And with Umbreon mainly a rival Pokemon plus dark types are sort of the evil type I didn't really include Umbreon as a choice
Plus Espeon kinda matches Chloe’s pink color scheme when not in her school uniform
Lastly
Staying an Eevee
I'm fine personally if she keeps it an Eevee as I think still not having a concrete goal is realistic and can still have open possibilities for her such as traveling to find that goal
But in the anime/story, she does kind of have to pick otherwise viewers will feel a waste of time following her for this long, and keeping it an Eevee or it not being something more special than a copycat Eevee that doesn’t evolve won't go well. People are already complaining and criticizing now.
Plus they already did the staying an Eevee with Lana and Sandy (who I think should be trying to evolve into Vaporeon but oh well) and Sandy has the unique Lets Go haircut
Tumblr media
So for my picks/guess for Chloe’s Eevee is
Flareon: For choice and agency, Kanto connection, and unique pairing and ties into a performance-related goal that seems likely
Espeon: friendship evolution, visually matches, less unique pairing but still can highlight their bond
Jolteon: similar to Flareon but with less support

Now that we have a new CS run and the Eevee eggmon event is done, I can finally do this.  Eevus Sweepus.
General Overview The biggest impediment to my success was honestly not having Tina.  If I had another support, I think we would've had a generally easier time.  But I didn't, so oops.  Then again, there are clearly other issues.  Not every Eevee team gets along so well, and one choice was...bad.  I'm not gonna front, it was bad and I shouldn't have done it.  But oh well.
Fire, Electric, and Psychic didn't get to participate this run, at least as offensive types.  Kris is just unfortunate to use in general, so off-type is not happening in any way without something like NC Blue backing her.  And that's breaking the Eevee rules.  I'd say I want another Jolteon, but considering the logical outcomes of such a wish are Volkner or Chase, I rescind any such desires forever.  Fire...it's not that Lucas couldn't do it, it's that Triple Flareon is bad.  Also the Tina thing.  Psychic has some potential, and maybe one day we'll get like...Sabrina with a Support Espeon or something to really round out that combo.  But in absence of that, this is the best we've got.  And this was with only two of their eight types available, so thank god there's some off-type potential.
Vs. Kahili Ripping the band-aid off immediately, we have Ice.  Ice is the worst possible one, because Irida has zero use of eggmon Glaceon.  Literally none, she sets her own Ice Zone, and is too reliant on Hail to do it any other way.  I brought Leaf for some stalling, trying to roll some lucky flinches.  I think it's safe to say, the only reason any of us are alive is because of the disruption.  Leaf hit some good flinches, and even Glaceon got in on this, setting up our second sync with a clutch freeze on center.  I mean sure, Irida dropped the crit and we miraculously survived sync, but it was really cool that you did that, Glaceon.
Vs. Hala It took an embarrassing amount of time for me to remember that SS Erika existed.  I tried stupid hard to make Adaman work, and he just was not doing it.  Turns out, it's because I had him on Tank grid, forgetting his offenses, and was trying my damnedest to run Lucas for Atk drops to keep us alive through sync, to zero success.  When I finally did remember Erika, we shit-stomped the fight.  So that one's on me.  I forgot the OG.
Vs. Olivia This is perhaps the greatest accomplishment Valerie will ever know, and it is 100% cheating.  Permanent Field Effects saved her ass beyond any doubt.  If not for that, this would be impossible.  But since we did have it, Valerie kicked ass.  See, Penny has every trait Valerie could ever want, and perhaps most significant of all of them is stealing all of Olivia's buffs.  She's really dangerous, bringing up a lot of stats through Ancientpower Swag Bag and boosting defenses per action.  Penny can just steal all of it pre-sync and laugh a bit.  Valerie herself did surprisingly okay.  The sync isn't super impressive, but on HP parameters, we won this fight because Olivia's DPS couldn't break her.  Vigilance tanking Draining Kiss kept Valerie alive, and the Rebuff + Zone combo meant recovering like 500HP per attack, which was well above what Olivia could do in response.  A third sync would've killed, but again, the DPS pressure from Smart Cookie/HP Advantage 8 and Draining Kiss was tremendous.  I'm so proud of this one.
Vs. Acerola Finally, the on-types, we can-oh god I forgot to shift to the on-type parameters of fuck oh god.  Turns out it's alright, Elio's tank set is pretty commendable.  Selene herself as a great flinch rate, and even egg Umbreon's got a nice 30%.  Selene's first sync kinda sucked, but I'm convinced she just missed the crit.  No was way is that little with Zone active.  Crunch dealt a solid 7k, and second sync was like 65k.  Oh, worth noting: thank god for Critical Eye.  With Elio, she can cap her crit rate in one use of his TM, which is much more reliable.
Vs. Kukui Elaine is an excellent Support for any of these Eevee clears, packing pretty much everything they could want into one kit.  Notably, the capped crit in one TM is tremendous for pairs like Lyra, who just don't otherwise have it at all.  Eevee Lyra has good spread damage with ensured accuracy, so this felt like the safest solution.  Her sync dealt 111k.  Very proud of her.
Final Thoughts I don't know that I'd do this again!  Like, it's achievable, and believe it or not...everyone was first try.  Which still staggers me.  But I also have to acknowledge, it was first try because Glaceon kept rolling 10%s, and Selene never missed a flinch, and we hit the quad queues where we needed them to be, etc etc etc.  Alola is also a kind of midpoint in difficulty; harder than Kanto, Johto, and Unova, but nowhere near the ferocity of Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Kalos.  I don't think these teams would win as easily there.  To say nothing of issues of support.  Like okay, what flexibility do these teams actually have?  There's like none.  There aren't even enough supports, Elio had to stand in.  Bad matchups eviscerate these teams something fierce.
But.  It is achievable.  And I am sated knowing it can be done.  Godspeed, you funky little fox babies.

Calling off the Nuzlocke, I think. Lost half my team on a rematch with Blaine while grinding for Red, and I really don’t have the patience to train up any more team members. Here’s the team at time of defeat, and list of the dead.
Team:
Beyblade (Donphan)
Ganyu (Articuno)
Goku (Espeon)
Homer (Slowbro)
Triforce (Magnezone)
Periscope (Kingdra)
Boxed Team:
Dr. Acula (Crobat)
:) (Quagsire)
ThundrLips (Ampharos)
Dr. Acula (Crobat)
The Dead:
Clive (Gastly) - trainer on Route 35
Thicc Mama (Nidorina) - exploding Pineco on Route 34
Thicc Papa (Nidorino) - wild Goldeen on Route 42
Big Beebo (Mamoswine) - one of Clair’s gym trainers.
Steelworks (Steelix) - trainer on Route 44.
Artoria (Dratini) - countering Wobuffet in Dark Cave
Uzumaki (Poliwrath) - I forgot Ho-oh had Extrasensory
Hercules (Heracross) - Destiny Bond from Karen’s last Pokemon.
Toph (Golem) - I misjudged which one of Lance’s Dragonites were out.
Morbius (Gligar) - Used as a sacrifice to catch an Absol
Avalon (Absol) - Died in the VERY FIRST BATTLE after being fully trained.
Togata (Hitmonchan) - Died to a Leaf Storm / Leech Seed combo in Erika’s gym.
Anyway, I made it all the way to Blue and learned a fair bit about better ways of grinding in HGSS. I think I’ll line up the twelve I really like, train them up and import them up once I fight Red in a non-nuzlocke context.

“I was a child, yes. I did not enjoy it, however. I hate looking back on my past, so you will have to excuse me for my vagueness.” the Gothitelle said softly, but very bluntly. It was clear he was done with this conversation.

happy munday! today I wanna ask about your creative process. how did you come up with your blog at large, or a specific oc/muse? (or muses if you'd like!) did you get inspired by other media, are they based on people you know, or by other random factors?
sadly a good chunk of the inspirations I've had for my characters and blogs were a mix of spontaneity and inspirations lost to time.
However in terms of an over generalization of my process it usually follows "I want a character with role X, then create character with role X" and in some cases it spider webs from there like with my Espe and Umbre characters; the hot headed delta Espeon Erika Oleander and her sister the techie Umbreon with cybernetic eyes Raven Oleander, and Raven's AI creations "The Drones".
As for blog specifics @a-nuclear-adventure is based around the idea of how can I incorporate a real life disaster into the wider universe of my blogs as they all practically share the same universe just different places. meanwhile @ask-meitra was dreamed up with the idea of "Can you really fight fate?" and actually takes place in a different timeline as compared to my other blogs but roughly the same time as the others. one obscure little hint about what may be related to the future is that the town nearby to Meitra's forest is based on Goldsboro, North Carolina. @axelthezoroark came around primarily because I wanted an evil SOB that was also very much a punching bag.

Pokemon Card of the Day #2981: Beedrill (Neo Discovery)
Tumblr media
Beedrill was one of the many Stage 2 Grass-types of its era, and with Feraligatr emerging as the dominant threat once the game rotated to Rocket-On, any decently strong Grass-type was going to get a close look. This one was all about coin flips, with the odds being against a clean KO of a Feraligatr, though the threat was high enough to be notable. Triple Poison, when it worked, also helped against specific match-ups. There was a lot of competition with Meganium and Erika's Victreebel originally and later the arrival of Crobat and the return of Venusaur, so standing out when the entire card involved luck was a bit tough. But, again, it was a reasonably strong Stage 2 Grass-type, and even minor differences were going to be notable here when the main job was just to mess with what was the most popular Pokemon to build a deck around at the time.
80 HP was nothing special for Stage 2 standards, being at the low end of the number and falling in 2 hits to most attackers at the time. The exceptions were Kingdra and Dark Gengar, which had other things going for them instead. The Fire Weakness made life just a bit easier for Blaine's Arcanine, Typhlosion and the later Magcargo, preventing the need to discard Energy to take a Beedrill down quickly. The Fighting Resistance was some help against Giovanni's Machamp and Tyrogue, a trait it shared with Crobat but none of the other Grass-types of note. Also shared with Crobat was being able to retreat for free, which was always a good thing.
Triple Poison guaranteed just 10 damage for a Grass Energy. The coin flip decided if the effect was there or not. Said effect was very good: Not only did it Poison the Defending Pokemon, but the opponent put 3 damage counters on that Pokemon instead of 1 between turns. This provided a way to wear Steelix down reasonably quickly, something other Grass-types didn't really have. It was, of course, all on a coin flip, and Crobat decks did have a slower version of this in Zubat that only did normal Poison but was guaranteed. This was better when it worked but was very unreliable.
Speaking of unreliable, Pin Missile was that. 2 Grass and a Colorless Energy got you 4 coin flips. Each heads was 20 damage, so the average was 40. You needed 3 flips to take out a Feraligatr, which was going to happen sometimes (5/16 odds) but couldn't be counted on. Players of Rocket-On may notice that Crobat did this but often a bit better.
Beedrill's main problem was that it wasn't Crobat. Outside of the better match-up against Psychic-types (Espeon and Dark Gengar both were notable, but Fire certainly wasn't unknown either), Beedrill was generally a worse Crobat, which had a lower form to guarantee at least some Poison and an 11/16 chance to set Confusion with an attack that had the exact same damage output as Pin Missile. Beedrill was available for a single set before Crobat was released, so it had some value in the earliest days of Rocket-On if you didn't pick the chance of a forced switch and the reliable (but just short of a healthy Feraligatr KO) damage of Erika's Victreebel instead.
