Ok. I know the Diablo Attack/Placido duel episodes are very serious and all but. I cannot get over how small Yusei is compared to Jack and Bruno.
Look at him! He's pint-sized! Smol and sweet!

What surprising historical facts have you learned from watching Outlander?
I've learned lots of fun historical facts to know and tell from watching Outlander and reading the book series.
Here's one that stands out in my mind. I didn't realize that back in the day urine (i.e., "chamber lye") was used to remove stains from clothes, until I saw Outlander episode 1 x 05 Rent:
Tumblr media
According to a post about this by Mindy McIntosh-Shetter:
In the Outlander series...Claire just happens upon wash day in a village when she was riding to collect rent with the MacKenzie clan. While the women did not have a vat of urine, their use of this liquid appeared to be as a stain remover and/or dye setter for the clothing since it was poured on. To keep the supply coming since fresh urine is best as a detergent, drinking was encouraged and even Claire took a few swigs and a squat over a bucket to do her part. Today, the idea of cleaning your clothes with urine sounds disgusting and unhealthy but believe it or not, science can easily explain how this works. First, urine has a high ammonia content, which allows it to neutralize dirt and grease that tends to be a little acidic. Once the dirt on the clothes has been neutralized, it is easily removed from the fabric. This neutralizing process not only removes stains but also brightens whites.
Yes, washing clothes in the euphemistically named "chamber lye" isn't exactly the sort of "romantic" historical detail we might want to discover from Outlander, but it ended being a bonding experience for Claire with the women of the village.
I'd love to hear from others about what historical facts stood out for them from watching Outlander.

I have been hit with the curse of falling in love with a character (Michael Shelley) at the worst possible time (immediately before they died) and have no choice but to carry on. (Even though there's so much amazing fanart that I shouldn't be looking at because spoilers!)
"Recording is what we're here for." Interesting, curious what that means exactly. Oh, they know about the Archive then and Jon is translating in real time now.
War... war never changes... and neither does this tired joke.
Okay, cannibalism has come up. I'm guessing this is a story about the End?
Hmm... is the meat god the same as the End? Cannibalism seems to come up a lot when the End comes up but I don't know if the concepts just go hand in hand or if the two are separate entities that perhaps work better together than others.
Glad to see he at least knows he's a POS, if nothing else.
Wait, what does he mean "Gerard faked his own death..." like that's a fact? Did he just know something again without actually realizing it? Is everything he just said true?

MIKEY: I'm not scared of you, old man. MICHAEL: Am I old, or am I grizzled and tough and full of grit? MIKEY: Old. I'm gonna go with old. MICHAEL: We can take this outside. If’n you’re wantin’ a rebuttal. MIKEY: Don't make me embarrass you in front of Mike on his big day. MIKE: Guys, you're both being embarrassing.
