Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
Ephesians 6:10‭-‬18 ESV

I saw your post about not treating the Holy Spirit as a shoulder angel and I completely get that but I'm also curious to hear your take on his purpose and proper use? Cheers!
i think the post actually came from @faeriefully and you can find the many roles of the Holy Spirit right there in God's Word:
He is a Teacher who reminds us of God's Word
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
John 14:26
He guides us in truth and for God's glory
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
John 16:13‭-‬14
He reveals to us God's wisdom
But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
I Corinthians 2:10‭-‬12 NKJV
He gives us spiritual gifts so that we can further the kingdom of God
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
I Corinthians 12:7‭-‬11
He intercedes for us and helps us in our weaknesses and when we pray
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans 8:26‭-‬27
He helps us bear good fruits
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22‭-‬23
He is our seal as God's children
In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
Ephesians 1:13‭-‬14
He sanctifies and refines us
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Galatians 5:16‭-‬18
He dwells in us and fills us
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
I Corinthians 6:19‭-‬20

“A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”

Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. “If you are seeking to obey the Lord, expect opposition. Expect obstacles. Expect difficulties. But also expect God to see you through.” — Greg Laurie
Friend, the devil does not want you to have eternal life, happiness or anything good. He will throw everything he can at you (and he has a lot of weapons at his disposal), to try and break you down and get you away from God. But you are not alone. You have God (in the Holy Trinity: Jesus, plus The Holy Spirit who lives within you) and two-thirds of the Angels with you, always ready to help you.
When the devil uses people and circumstances against you, stay in faith and keep praying. God listens to every prayer you pray. Read Ephesians 6:10-18 often and put on all those spiritual weapons daily. Keep studying and learning those Bible verses, the more you know, the better you can fight. Jesus used Bible verses against the enemy when He was tempted in the wilderness and so can you. Use every weapon at your disposal and stand strong.
Friend, God loves you and He is faithful. He WILL see you through! AMEN! 🙌

“And David inquired of God, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you give them into my hand?” And the Lord said to him, “Go up, and I will give them into your hand.” And when David again inquired of God, God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; go around and come against them opposite the balsam trees.” —1 Chronicles 14:10‭, ‬14 (ESV)
“Early in the morning, Jesus got up, left the house while it was still dark outside, and went to a deserted place to pray.“ —Mark 1:35 (VOICE)
“As often as possible Jesus withdrew to out-of-the-way places for prayer.” —Luke 5:16 (MSG)
David prayed before every battle and God would advise Him. David put praying before everything else, because to hear from God, David needed to speak to God first.
In Mark 1:35, Jesus prayed early in the morning. It was still dark outside, so it must have been pretty early! Talking to God was important enough for Jesus to get up early to go pray. As Luke 5:16 says, Jesus prayed “as often as possible.” If Jesus thought prayer was essential, and He is the Son of God, how much more is it essential for us, mere humans?! Both David and Jesus relied on hearing from God to support them in their daily lives.
Friend, God wants to hear from you all the time. He loves the sound of your voice. He loves talking with you. And when you start your mornings talking to God, He gets to hear your voice that much earlier and you get to hear His voice early in your day. And your days will go so much better when you start them with a conversation with God!
The earlier you start praying, the earlier you get the support and advice you need from God to get through whatever will be coming your way that day. You have no idea what will be thrown at you during your day, but God does, because He's already seen what's coming. You need help to get through it safely! Forewarned is forearmed and you have great armor available. (Pray Ephesians 6:10-18!)
Start your days with God, end your days with God and talk with God in between and this journey called life will be so much easier and safer. Amen! 🙏🙌

“Now my beloved ones, I have saved these most important truths for last: Be supernaturally infused with strength through your life-union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of his explosive power flowing in and through you. Put on God’s complete set of armor provided for us, so that you will be protected as you fight against the evil strategies of the accuser! Your hand-to-hand combat is not with human beings, but with the highest principalities and authorities operating in rebellion under the heavenly realms. For they are a powerful class of demon-gods and evil spirits that hold this dark world in bondage. Because of this, you must wear all the armor that God provides so you’re protected as you confront the slanderer, for you are destined for all things and will rise victorious. Put on truth as a belt to strengthen you to stand in triumph. Put on holiness as the protective armor that covers your heart. Stand on your feet alert, then you’ll always be ready to share the blessings of peace. In every battle, take faith as your wrap-around shield, for it is able to extinguish the blazing arrows coming at you from the evil one! Embrace the power of salvation’s full deliverance, like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies. And take the mighty razor-sharp Spirit-sword of the spoken word of God. Pray passionately in the Spirit, as you constantly intercede with every form of prayer at all times. Pray the blessings of God upon all his believers.” —Ephesians 6:10‭-‬18 (TPT)

“Be well balanced and always alert, because your enemy, the devil, roams around incessantly, like a roaring lion looking for its prey to devour.”

Friend, we are in a spiritual war against dark forces. Your prayers can change the world. Pray about everything and watch God turn your prayers into amazing victories!
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for loving us so much. You listen to our prayers and act on them. May we pray as Paul says, “in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.” As we kneel before You, may our prayers bless others and ourselves. Lord, may we be Your faithful prayer warriors, fighting and winning spiritual battles. May our prayers crush the enemy's power. May our prayers change lives and change the world for the better. In Jesus' name, Amen. 🙏

Daily Devotional: “Spiritual Warfare!”
Friend, when you are a follower of Jesus you will be attacked by the enemy. It's a question of when, not if, you will be hassled, harassed and tempted to do things that would not be good for you! The enemy hates all followers of Jesus and his favourite weapon against you will be his lies, because he is the Father of lies! (John 8:44) The devil twists the truth just enough to make the lies seem plausible, but they are still LIES meant to derail your peace, destroy your confidence and wreak whatever havoc he can in your life.
You are in a spiritual battle and your mind is the battlefield. But you are not defenceless and you are not alone. You have authority given to you by Jesus (Luke 10:19). You also have the mighty Holy Spirit, who is sent to help you. And you have the Word of God! There are many verses you can use for your spiritual protection (link below).
Ephesians 6:10‭-‬18 is one of the most important passages for spiritual warfare. In it, you have a full set of spiritual armor that is given to you by God to protect you. Read this passage whenever you need to. Print it out and put it on your fridge. Declare it every morning! It will help you stay safe!
Friend, stand strong! You have being with Jesus forever in Heaven and a WONDERFUL eternal life to look forward to! AMEN! 🙌
PRAYER: Lord, thank You that You don't leave us defenceless against spiritual battles. You walk with us through them and You gave us Jesus, who prays for us in Heaven; The Holy Spirit, who also prays for us; Angels to guard us; Your Word to guide us and friends to help us! How kind You are! If whoever is reading this is in a spiritual battle right now, help them put on their spiritual armor and keep them safe from the enemy. In Jesus' name, Amen! 🙏
“In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might. Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places. Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious]. So stand firm and hold your ground, having tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart), and having strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]. Above all, lift up the [protective] shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one . And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.” Ephesians 6:10‭-‬18 (AMP)
