Cricket to us was more than play; it was a worship in the summer sun.

Wild Summer.
A small collection of photos capturing nature in England. One of my favourite times of the year is when the days are getting longer, the birds are chirping, and everywhere you look, there is a sea of greenery.

June 24: I arrived at LHR Saturday morning and got a lift from a friend to my Grandpa's house. The whole drive there, I was sleepily trying to imagine myself in the driver's seat, taking in every road sign and direction from the SatNav. I've never learned to drive here because it was easier for my mom and grandparents to do it. But some of my favorite places are only accessible by car, so it's about time I learned! I'll be getting a car on Wednesday...time to review the Highway Code!
When I got to my Grandpa's house, I realized I couldn't carry my own suitcase up the stairs, so I had to unpack it downstairs and carry things up a little at a time. I usually pride myself on being a light packer, but packing for normal life *and* farm life for 2 months was a battle I don't think I won. Maybe after six weeks working on a farm, I'll be able to carry 56 pounds up a flight of stairs.
Grandpa and I had tea and chatted in his back garden for a while that morning which was really nice. But I was so tired that I couldn't open my eyes all the way; it was an actual struggle to keep them open. They live in a place where a lot of large back gardens converge, so it's nice and quiet and private:
While I fought jet lag and tried not to fall asleep, I watched 2 seagulls, 2 crows, and a hawk have a fight. The seagulls seemed to win, which did not surprise me. Then Grandpa and I drove to town so I could get some groceries and a new SIM card. After dinner, Grandpa, Lynn and I watched an episode of Escape to the Country, and despite my best efforts to stay awake, I did that sleepy head bob thing about 15 times. It was a simple day, and really nice just being able to hang out with family I don't often get to see.
