Tae’s hairstylist, Mujin, is interviewed for Harper’s Bazaar Korea. He talks with the magazine about Tae’s beautiful blue hair, noting the process to achieve this ethereal look. He mentions the story and concept of the pictorial were planned in advance, with the male, coming of age, romantic drama “Call Me By Your Name” (CMBYN) being an inspiration.
Article snippet:
🗣️: In this <Bazaar> pictorial, V's unique transformation of blue hair drew attention. Why did you choose this color?
Mujin: After checking the overall story, design, and concept of the pictorial planned by 'Bazaar' in advance, the mise-en-scène of “Call Me by Your Name.”
Mujin also references the LGBTQ+ movie “Blue is the Warmest Color,” a female coming of age movie similar to CMBYN, and we can discern this because he says “warmest” then ‘blue color’ is placed in quotations, indicating he’s citing material that inspired their pictorial. His exact words are, “The warmest ‘blue color’ with a European sensibility rather than a specially decorated feel.” A Google search of “warmest blue color” will showcase the movie, and protagonist Emma’s blue hair color.

Blue is the Warmest Color? More like, the male director fetishizes lesbians for 3 hours.
Tumblr media
Blue is the Warmest Color" (2013) directed, screenwritten, and produced by Abdellatif Kechiche, is a french coming-of-age film about a 16-year-old girl named Adele and her journey through adolescence exploring her sexuality. She first meets her love interest Emma in passing. They walk by each other and make intense eye contact. Emma has her arms around another woman but still looks at Adele intensely. They truly meet for the first time at a gay bar. Emma is an older woman and comments on how people like Adele (underage) don't go into that bar very often. They end up going their separate ways but Emma gets the name of the high school Adele goes to. The next day Emma is waiting for Adele after school and then her friends start making homophobic comments to Adele. After this, a very passionate relationship starts between them.
This film goes through the years of them being together and they are together for a long time. Five years into the future their relationship becomes toxic. Emma has somewhat detached from Adele and seems to have become interested in another woman named Lise. This leads Adele to cheat on her with a male coworker. Emma finds out, slaps her and calls her whore, then kicks her out of their shared home. Three years later Emma and Adele meet up with each other. Emma reveals she has been in a relationship with Lise since she and Adele broke up and Adele reveals she still isn't over her. At the end of the film, Adele realizes that their relationship was doomed from the beginning because they're just too different and the film ends.
Blue is the Warmest Color was made to cater to the male gaze and to men who only support the lesbian community because they fetishize them. Most of the movie is explicit sex scenes between the two girls and the screenwriter/director/producer is a much older male. The main actress, Adele, was freshly 18 at the time of filming. This suggests that this movie is made only for the male gaze and made by someone that has no connection to the lesbian experience and wouldn’t understand what coming-of-age as a lesbian would be like. This film is created by a man who already places the male gaze into effect. All men are brought up, purposely by their parents or accidentally by society, to view women mainly as sexual things that are made for them to enjoy, and this is what this film comes down to. Kechiche handled the concepts of love and heartbreak very well and portrayed emotions very deeply but still, all that can be focused on is how sexualized both main characters are for the entire film. “The male gaze here as I said is not overwhelming or outrightly predatory, but it is there, in varying degrees of intrusion. It is out and out aestheticized, which makes it difficult to question ‘Blue is the Warmest Colour’s problematics” (Singh, Feminism in India, para. 5).
Tumblr media
youtube
Men cannot understand the experience of a young, lesbian woman which is what Kechiche is claiming to understand by creating this film. He is a straight male and even though this film is based on a novel he took many creative and artistic liberties while making the movie. A male writer named Matthew Knott wrote about his feelings on this movie from his perspective as a man and he says "My problem is not with the very idea of male directors dissecting the female sexual experience on-camera... It is the fact that, without female voices in the picture, the discussion is left incomplete" (Knott, Indie Wire, para. 7). The director cannot create an accurate depiction of lesbian romance because he can't be in that position. Women are often excluded from the topic of their own sexuality because men feel as though they are in charge and understand it better than women could. This film is a prime example of that. He had no help from female writers and just made this film into basically a fetish film for men to watch. Many women online after the movie was released commented on how uncomfortable this movie was and that it felt "icky" and not like a genuine and pure love story. The sex scenes in this movie particularly seem very much like they were made to be porn. They don't blend with the beautiful scenery and filmography that is a part of the rest of the film. It seems sloppily thrown in. "There's a seven-minute-long sequence of hilariously advanced lesbian sex, jarringly out of step with the tone and the aesthetic of the rest of the film" (Hallett, The Stranger, para. 6). Even if Kechiche had good intentions, this just goes back to inherently how many men view women, and that is as sex objects.
As a queer person who identifies a lot with womanhood, this film felt gross to watch. There were definitely beautiful parts to it and the actors did wonderfully but I couldn't get it out of the back of my head that the sexual aspects were so dramatic and out of place. It sucks to see so many wlw films boil down to the sex scenes in them. It feels like sex is all women will ever be good for. Even if men are completely taken out of the picture, men will still have to find a way to inject themselves into women's lives.

Hellooooo. I'm new to your blog. Wish you and your family good health. Can I request written ships for nct dream, seventeen and boynextdoor? Thank you so much!!! Btw I also do ships so if you have requests, send me as soon as possible.
I'm an ENFJ and a Leo who's described as friendly and a little bit loud. But actually, I'm a pretty calm and laid-back person. I'm 162cm tall and I have a short hair (kinda like short wolfcut). I'm a highschool student and I'm excellent in English, good at Maths and acceptable at Literature. In the future, I plan to study abroad in psychology major.
About my hobbies, I like playing basketball (and I watch NBA also), learning about astrology, reading books, watching movies, astronomy, listening to music and photography. My favourite movies are Call Me By Your Name, Dead Poets Society, Blue Is The Warmest Color, Little Women. About reading, I'm reading Emma by Jane Austen and going to read Wuthering Heights after finishing it.
About my school life, I like being with smart and excellent students who get high grades in exams and people who have the same interests as me. I am not close with those popular girls or gossip girls although I make friends with them. Also I am not usually around people who always talk about their relationship ('cause I just want to talk about our friendships and hobbies).
My clothing style is somewhere between downtown girl and dark academia. I like baggy jeans, oversized leather jacket, cargo pants, baby tees, converse high, dr marten platform shoes. For accessories, I like ones that have warm color like gold and heartshaped ones (something similar as vivienne westwood ones), leather bags and neck ties.
Don't know why I want to talk about it but I like coffee =))).
And the color dark red, brown and green play an important part in my life.
I dont like it when I am around bad energy. If being someone makes me feel tired, I will stop being close with them. I also believe that every relationship should have the equality. If one has to chase the other, it won't be comfortable anymore.
Sometimes I'm a little bit too overthinking about things as I don't want to let people down but I'm learning not to give a f about them cuz I realized that it is just me who has the awareness of myself is enough.

Thank you so much for requesting here you go love!❤️ And also thank you so so much for your offer I'll request something for sure!! <3 (wishing you good health as well xx)

I had an epiphany of sorts. Or rather maybe found something interesting.
I just discovered the Blue is the Warmest Color graphic novel by Jul Maroh. I have ordered it to fully explore it, but have been pouring over reviews and photos of pages from it and I'm like woah. It's a lesbian coming-of-age/coming-out/love story, originally published in French, and the main character is named Clementine. 🍊 The story is being told through her journals. In the novel, the past is in greyscale and color appears when Clem sees Emma for the first time - Emma's hair is blue and blue is the color of happiness in the past writings.
There's a love triangle. Chase two girls, lose the one.
"Love catches fire, it trespasses, it breaks, we break, it comes back to life...we come back to life." 🤷🏻‍♀️ Just one vaguely familiar excerpt.
The author is a redhead, which I thought was interesting (ATW:TSF).
It's just a little coincidental that her name is Clementine in the book... 🍊🤡
I wonder if this is a book that Taylor has on a shelf somewhere. 📘 We know our girl reads.
Maybe I'm wrong...but is anything ever accidental?
*There's also a movie made based off that graphic novel, but the director was awful to the main characters and created the intimate scenes for his own gaze instead of portraying the love story. And also the main character was named Adèle instead of Clementine in the movie.

'Blue Is The Warmest Color' And The Effect It Has On Me (Spoilers)
Before I can talk about the film that shaped who I am today, I have to talk about where I'm at. I found myself stuck in an identity crisis at the ripe age of seven. I was different than the other boys at school. I didn't like sports. I walked differently. I talked differently. My friends were all girls. I spiraled between being gay and bisexual. Afterall, I still liked girls. I never had a REAL crush on a guy. I spent years of my life believing I was bisexual. I met my best friend, who I admittedly forced myself to have a crush on at first. I realized she wanted me as a friend and that's what I wanted too. She introduced me to the boy who made me realize I was gay. The boy I still like as I'm writing this. Now that you know that here's the effect the film 'Blue Is The Warmest Color' has on me.
Tumblr media
The film starts out with Adele being lost with herself. She's a confused high school girl going through those high school feels. Her classmates are bored out of their minds to the subject of 'The Life Of Marianne' (the book they read in class) Adele is amazed by the book and finds it to be brilliant. Adele is a character we all may be or at least see. She's a kindhearted girl who can't seem to figure out who she is. She ends up going on a date with a guy her friend's think she likes (and maybe she did like him) While walking to the date, Adele sees the blue haired light that is Emma. Adele is immediately in love with Emma. The beautiful blue hair shines in the grey world she seems to be stuck in.
Tumblr media
After nearly getting hit by a car, Adele goes on her date. It goes well. Adele, trying to convince to her friends (but more herself) that she's straight, sleeps with him. The sex isn't as good as Adele clearly lets on. She ends up breaking up with the guy but feels equal emotions as he does.
In sadness, Adele is brought out with her best friend. He brings her to a gay bar. She feels out of place, so she sneaks out into a lesbian bar. There, she sees blue. Emma and she make small conversation that is rudely cut off by Emma's friends. Before Emma leaves though, she asks Adele what school she goes to.
Tumblr media
The next day, Adele sees Emma waiting for her. With sideways glances from her classmates, Adele follows Emma. Emma makes a portrait of Adele. She's a very gifted artist, good at people.
Adele is scrutinized by her friends for going off with Emma. They call her slurs and mock her.
At this point, it's time for me to address the elephant in the room. The sex scenes. I actually despise them. The only one I don't skip on my rewatches is the last. It has a reason to be in the film, as it leads into a heart renching and adorable conversation. But the nine-minute-long scene is truly unneeded and dampens the film for me just a tad. It's still one of my favorites though.
After the sex scene Adele goes to a pride parade with Emma and meets her parents that night. Adele feels welcome with her parents. She's not out to her parent's yet, so she feels at home.
Tumblr media
The scene I'm about to discuss may be my favorite of all time. It's the birthday party scene. Adele's eighteenth birthday is celebrated by her parents and her REAL friends. It's a beautiful scene. Adele dances with her friends to one of my favorite songs 'I Follow Rivers.' That's another thing about this film, the soundtrack is amazing.
The second part of the film is what I love about it. It's truly what cements the film as one of my favorites. It's about letting go and realizing love's growing pains. Love is a beautiful thing, but what about when it ends? Adele and Emma's relationship eventually comes to a violent end after Adele (and maybe Emma) cheats. Emma has been spending a lot of time with a co-artist. Adele feels alone. At this point they've been together for years. Adele only wants to be with Emma, which makes her feel lonely when without her.
We see Adele struggle to get over Emma. She follows her dreams and becomes a teacher, a good one at that. But the breakup makes it hard to keep a happy face on. Adele goes through many phases of grief. Shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression (realization), testing (calling Emma to see her), and acceptance. Acceptance being the scene where she walks away from Emma's art show.
Tumblr media
Adele is a character I relate to in every way. She's confused, scared, and at the end of the day a good person. She has problems that not many people around her go through, which scares her. She loves Emma, but she expected Emma to love her forever. I'm an emotional wreck watching the film. I tell my friends about how this film affected me nearly daily. It left me in dishevels. I put myself back together and went to bed, depressed, but proud that I found a film that truly affected me... FINALLY. The film casts a spell on me. A spell of love and immersion. At the end of the film, you feel just as in love with Emma as Adele was. Which makes the ending even sadder.

Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux in Blue Is the Warmest Color (Abdellatif Kechiche, 2013)
Cast: Léa Seydoux, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Salim Kechiouche, Aurélien Recoing,  Catherine Salée, Benjamin Siksou, Mona Walravens, Alma Jodorowsky, Jérémie Laheurte, Anne Loiret, Benoît Pilot. Screenplay: Abdellatif Kechiche, Ghalya Lacroix, based on a graphic novel by Jul Maroh. Cinematography: Sofian El Fani. Film editing: Sophie Brunet, Ghalya Lacroix, Albertin Lastera, Jean-Marie Lengelle, Camille Toubkis
Though it was cut down by its team of five editors from 800 hours worth of footage, it's still at least half an hour too long. And considering the controversies that have arisen since its release, including charges of abuse by the director of not only the lead actresses but also the crew, the sex scenes inevitably have something exploitative about them. But Blue Is the Warmest Color remains exceptional in large part because it's one of the most intimate portraits of a human relationship on film. The jury at Cannes was right in citing not only the director but also the two actresses, Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux, when it gave the film the Palme D'Or. Exarchopoulos in particular demonstrates a rare courage, not for exposing her body but for allowing the rawness of her emotions to show forth. There are moments when her character, Adèle (Kechiche changed the character's name from "Clémentine" when he cast her), becomes almost pitiable in her helpless infatuation with Seydoux's Emma, Exarchapoulos's fresh beauty becoming disfigured in her portrayal of Adèle's suffering at the inability to make the kind of fusion she desires with Emma. It's a fable about the limitations of love that transcends sexual orientation. The film's NC-17 rating once again demonstrates the wrong-headedness of the American ratings board's approach to sexuality, as opposed to its blithe acceptance of any extreme of violence in film.

Hey, ya! I'm really trying to find roleplay partners, so if that's your desire, then keep reading!
What am I looking for?
I'm not really picky when we are talking about writing since I match my replies with my roleplay partner, but please, don't be one liner! Nothing against, just not really my cuppa and I hope you get to understand.
I ask you to be at least 16, since my experiences with younger people weren't really the best.
I don't mind if you like chatting ooc or not, I can adapt at both. Just please, warn me whenever you get busy or in case you're not feeling interested, ghosting is boring as hell and I prefer if you communicate with me instead of disappearing.

Book Recommendations: LGBTQIA+ Graphic Novels
Wash Day Diaries by Jamila Rowser & Robyn Smith
Wash Day Diaries tells the story of four best friends - Kim, Tanisha, Davene, and Cookie - through five connected short story comics that follow these young women through the ups and downs of their daily lives in the Bronx. The book takes its title from the wash day experience shared by Black women everywhere of setting aside all plans and responsibilities for a full day of washing, conditioning, and nourishing their hair. Each short story uses hair routines as a window into these four characters' everyday lives and how they care for each other.
Blue is the Warmest Color by Julie Maroh
Blue is the Warmest Color is a graphic novel about growing up, falling in love, and coming out. Clementine is a junior in high school who seems average enough: she has friends, family, and the romantic attention of the boys in her school. When her openly gay best friend takes her out on the town, she wanders into a lesbian bar where she encounters Emma: a punkish, confident girl with blue hair. Their attraction is instant and electric, and Clementine find herself in a relationship that will test her friends, parents, and her own ideas about herself and her identity.
Boys Run the Riot by Keito Gaku
High schooler Ryo knows he’s transgender, but he doesn’t have anyone to confide in about the confusion he feels. He can’t tell his best friend, who he’s secretly got a crush on, and he can’t tell his mom, who’s constantly asking why Ryo “dresses like a boy.” He certainly can’t tell Jin, the new transfer student who looks like just another bully... The only time Ryo feels at ease is when he’s wearing his favorite clothes. Then, and only then, the world melts away, and he can be his true self. One day, while out shopping, Ryo sees someone he didn’t expect: Jin. The kid who looked so tough in class has the same taste in fashion as him! At last, Ryo has someone he can open up to - and the journey ahead might finally give him a way to express himself to the world.
Cheer Up by Crystal Frasier
Annie is a smart, antisocial lesbian starting her senior year of high school who’s under pressure to join the cheerleader squad to make friends and round out her college applications. Her former friend BeeBee is a people-pleaser - a trans girl who must keep her parents happy with her grades and social life to keep their support of her transition. Through the rigors of squad training and amped up social pressures (not to mention micro aggressions and other queer youth problems), the two girls rekindle a friendship they thought they’d lost and discover there may be other, sweeter feelings springing up between them.
