I can see him dirty and covered in grim as he hunts with Elrohir and Elladan. I can see him young and fresh running with the rangers, eager to see the world. I can see him scraped up and bleeding, returning to the house of Elrond, with smirks and grins as he flirts with Arwen. I can see him.

magic maia treelight hair [Long post]

idea:

galadriels hair changes color based on whichever treelight its under during the day its more gold and at night silver. in valinor it was silver-gold at dawn/dusk, bright vanya-gold at noon, full silvery white and midnight. in beleriand the effects arent as strong so it changes less. during the darkening it turned black with starry streaks until the first sunrise.

celebrians hair changes a little, still subtle but noticeable if you compare silver-gold morning hair to completely silver night hair.

elrond (who also has color changing hair from luthien) and celebrian's kids hair is all over the place. elladan and elrohir wear dark hoods when hunting because randomly gold flashing hair is not helpful. arwen's hair turns almost entirely silver-gold during her stay in lorien. in gondor whenever she gets near the white tree her hair turns silvery white. aragorn keeps getting woken up at night by arwens telperion hair. elladan and elrohirs hair turned gold for a week from hanging around uncle glorfindel too long. at night when earendils star is in the sky all three of their hair turns to default luthien-purpley with random white and streaks.

The Sons of Elrond

Ooooh boy, this became a project and a half. In hours it probably only took 20 overall but I’ve been painting these two on and off around work and other hobbies for the past couple of weeks so it feels like it took forever. But I’m really pleased with the final painting even if at times I was unsure it was going to turn out.

It’s also been too long since I’ve done any Tolkien art and I don’t think I’ve ever properly drawn Elladan and Elrohir despite the fact they’re two of my favourite characters. Tolkien’s work was one of the reasons I started drawing so many years ago so it’s nice to return to my roots so to speak.

Expect to see more Tolkien art in the future!

Story-time in Rivendell with Uncle Glorfindel! Elladan and Elrohir absolutely love going out adventuring early and listening to stories of old when offered the opportunity.

(Hopefully Glorfindel chose something more appropriate than the balrog story, this time.)
