Q Lazzarus, “Goodbye Horses” (1987)
The music video for “Goodbye Horses” relies heavily on occult themes and dreamlike imagery to match the esoteric nature of the songs’ lyrics. In 2017, the video was finally released to the public via YouTube to accompany the re-release of Lazzarus’ music on Spotify.
In 2018, the true identity of Q Lazzarus was revealed to be a Staten Island woman named Diane Luckey, a bus driver who had retired from the music industry in 1996. While she appreciated the new-found interest in her former music career, she preferred to keep a low-profile and live a life without much attention.
Luckey passed away on July 19, 2022 at the age of 61 from an undisclosed illness. A documentary about Luckey's life, which began production in 2019, is set to be released later in 2023.
