Gerudo Body Diversity and Athleticism
More body diversity would go a long way in portraying the Gerudo in a better way.
One of the big things that bothers me about the whole "they're supposed to be Amazonian women" talking points is that even athletic, strong people have a wide range of body diversity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Source: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/howard-schatz-photos-women-professional-athletes_n_4297902)
The Gerudo having super muscular bodies already creates a lot of problems with the fact that they're based heavily around Asian and African cultures and the history of assigning masculinity and muscularity to brown women as an attack on them especially.
"Strong" can still be dehumanizing. That's why so many Black women object to the "strong Black woman" stereotype.
The Gerudo all generally have the same body type. They may have a little more body fat or not be as muscular if they're children/elderly or some of the ones in service worker positions, but even then they still have the same exaggerated waist/hips going on.
Tumblr media
So even if you want to argue they're based on amazon women or are supposed to be super athletic, there's still a variety of ways to portray women's bodies as athletic!
It also simplifies the Gerudo largely down to their physical contributions, but they also have scholars, engineers, racers, and people that specialize in animal care. If you're going to make them these super athlete women, they can still have more variety in how they're built and not designed to be so white male gazey.
Imagine a Gerudo woman built like Tamara Walcott and all her sisters cheering her on her new personal record. (the earrings and the little pre-lift ritual make it even better)
youtube
Especially with dark-skinned women specifically, there's a very distinct history of portraying them as super muscular as an attack on them and while there's definitely a history of portraying women as weak, helpless and without agency, I hope more people can take that with the same history of demeaning women the Gerudo are based on.

I, a very white and somewhat privileged person, am absolutely terrified to draw colored people. Because I don’t know if I’d cross the thin line of tasteful and authentic or racist and stereotypical…
Lol for starters don't refer to us as coloured people. This ain't 1955. Secondly my best advice to you is to use references of actual people of color. I would highly recommend staying away from those white men art station youtuber type artists for tutorials because they get a majority of their techniques and style from main stream video games and comic books, which to put it nicely don't have the best reputation for representing women and poc. tangent over, so yeah references. real life photographs of brown and black people.
pinterest is a site that a lot of current, especially younger artists like to use, but in all honesty it's not a very good source for someone trying to learn the fundamentals. it'll mainly show you 20 something year old ig and twitter models which is okay if you wanna just draw pretty people; but not the best if you wanna like I said learn fundamentals + have a portfolio that's varied. also it's rife with ai shit and stolen art, so yeah would only recommend that as an initial starting point/using it to make your own personal board for your saved images.
stock photo sites are my go to for refs. getty images, istock, alamy, etc. a simple right click save image or screenshot will work to get the images you want for free. of course there will be the watermarks, but they're honestly a very small issue to bypass. as long as they're not opaque and nearly covering the entire subject; you're good. a nice thing about stock photo sites is they usually give you the option to filter the image search results. say for instance you want to draw an elderly asian woman cooking or a young black man painting a picture or an indigenous child playing with dolls. you can look up certain terms you want in the search bar & specify gender, age and ethnicity to narrow down your search to what you want.
Tumblr media
another awesome place for references i discovered during college is posespace.com
Tumblr media
like with getty images, it gives you the option to filter your searches. they also have their models in clothed or nude shoots in the event that you want to practice some bare bones anatomy.
also also, get your info from artists of color. there's a decent amount of tutorials ive found over the years on here and youtube on coloring skintones, drawing certain hair types, how to avoid caricatures and stereotyping, different facial features, cultural hairstyles. the list goes on. don't be afraid to depict people outside of your race. literally just go about drawing us the same way you would a white person. don't be scared, as long as you remain respectful and make an honest effort to learn; you'll do fine.
resource links by and from artists of color:
'how i draw south + southeast asian people'
an example of what to avoid when stylizing east asian characters
'drawing asian people, source: i'm asian'
'lessons from drawing I: what is asian anyways?'
'how to draw indians'

'How I draw skin Part 2: DON”T DRAW NATIVE PEOPLE WITH RED SKIN!!!! A tutorial' (the link to the first part of this tutorial is broken sorry)
How to Draw Native People: a Tutorial/Reference Guide

tips for drawing black people by rosheruu
drawing east asian faces by chuwenjie
how to draw black people series by Artistik Freedom (youtube)
✏️How I draw black hairstyles (simple) 🌱 by Likelihood Art (youtube)
there's also a bunch of black and brown artists on twitter and tiktok, so checking those sites for tutorials would be a good additional resource
good luck on your illustrating melanin endeavors 👍🏾

Keeping the African American vote “diluted” so they have no political power. This is what racist RepubliKKKans do.
If your vote didn’t matter, they wouldn’t be spending billions to prevent you from voting.
If you think they are only against black people you are mistaken. Yes I’m going to list their targets again; women, blacks, anyone else that isn’t 100% white, lgbt, the poor, the elderly, unionized labor, the educated, urban dwellers, the handicapped, veterans, northerners, east coasters, west coasters, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, atheists, agnostics, anyone who isn’t an evangelical or Protestant, liberals, liberal Protestants, Hispanics (unless they’re the white fascist variety), Asians, Africans, Pacific Islanders, Eastern European whites, southern European whites, olive skinned whites, Democrats, social democrats, progressives, celebrities, immigrants (even the white ones), truth tellers,…
It’s a long list and overlaps in many places. Theirs is a rarified world consisting of the wealthy, their useful idiots, their henchmen, and their foot soldiers. Poor whites exist to be exploited labor and consumers as long as they can remain healthy enough to work. Everyone else is to be “eradicated” and yes they are using that word openly now, and not just by Marjorie Trailer Queen.
Followers sometimes tell me I’m too harsh on RepubliKKKans but that’s only because they want to eradicate me and most of you. These are literal neo-Nazis and neo-Confederates. Recent history has already shown that you can not take the high road with Nazis. To them courtesy and respect are signs of weakness and represent victims. They are heavily armed and clamoring for a fight. Everyday their fascist bully boys and radicalized assassins slaughter us in public. The police, military, and even the SCOTUS, have been infiltrated by white supremacists as have local, state, and government agencies. Each passing day shows us their literal plans to steal our democracy, our rights, and our lives. If they win the presidency and Congress again it’s game over for us.
You must do everything you can to elect Democrats and block the RepubliKKKan agenda. Vote, register others to vote, donate if you can, organize and spread the message, and protest publicly if you are able. These steps will be much easier than battling AR-15 armed militias in the street.

I went to the SF rally to support the protests in Iran earlier today and I can’t explain how many people were there.
Women in hijab, Iranians of all ages, queer activists, an elderly Asian woman with a sign that said “I am not free while there are still women who are unfree”, men chanting at the top of their lungs. Children who might just grow up in a world without the problems we’re fighting to end.
Children of Iran, we hear you, we love you, and we support you.

BEST GIRL MORIARTY THE PATRIOT X F!READER
Tumblr media
NOW PLAYING : BEST GIRL CHAPTER ONE PAIRINGS : VARIOUS!MORIARTY THE PATRIOT X F!READER SUMMARY : in every 3am thoughts, where y/n lays on her bed wondering if she ever died, would she end up in heaven or hell. would she be reincarnated? what animal would she reincarnate as or who would she reincarnate as? though never has she expected that she would transmigrate back into the victorian era where people had Mozart as their sex playlist. NOTES FROM AUTHOR : i don't own any of the moriarty the patriot characters (all credits go to the author of yuukoku no moriarty Ryōsuke Takeuchi 竹内 良輔,) except for y/n, vox lawrence (oc) and ren hashinamoto (oc). NOTES FROM AUTHOR 2 : hello pookies! it's purin i've returned from the dead :p i had problems with my old account (hakuyaya) and accidentally deleted my account trying to fix it. i also decided to take a break from writing after that as i was burnout from school and everything but i'm back and striving ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ so expect more updates on best girl! WARNINGS : y/n is referenced to be a person of colour (specifically asian) in my interpretation. this book contains mention of r*pe, slavery, abuse, harassment, and violence inaccurate history because it's all for comedy lol (the author likes to think that she's funny) and out of the pocket jokes. please do let me know if i miss out any disclaimers!
Tumblr media
"what the actual fuck?" (name) muttered under her breath, eyes squinting at the blinding glimmer of the bright sun that shone through the transparent window.
she sat up on the bed as she took in the sight of the unknown room she was in. "ouch.." she winced after accidentally grazing the wound on her forearm.
'right.'she got into an accident.
was she in a hospital? though the room looked too old fashioned as if a room of the victorian era. 'damn, we literally almost died for a cat.' she snorted at her own thought.
"oh, thank the heavens. you're awake." an elderly feminine voice spoke out in a heavy british accent. the person moved closer to her, placing down a tray of food on the table next to her bed.
the lady was dawned in a simple victorian like dress. she must be around her mid forties, y/n hypnotise. she then sat next to y/n on the bed, putting a hand on her forehead checking her temperature.
y/n let out a gasp, cheeks heating up for proximity. she couldn't help with how attractive and motherly the lady looked. "your cheeks are still flushed but your fever seemed to have gone down. how are you feeling, my dear?"
the young lady nodded slowly, "i'm feeling fine, thank you.....miss?"
"josephine. josephine breus. what about you, young miss?" the older woman smiled, taking a seat on the bed.
"y/n l/n. thank you so much for taking care of me. really hope i wasn't a pain in the ass." y/n chuckled, scratching her cheek with a finger awkwardly.
"my, you must be a foreigner from your name and how you speak but the pleasure is mine, miss y/n." josephine chuckled behind her hand rather elegantly.
maybe way too elegant to the point she was resembling the women of the eighteen hundreds.
"miss josephine, what hospital are we in right now?" y/n questioned. she wanted to know if her other two idiots (best friends) were alright.
"hospital? oh dear, right. you are currently in earl everston's manor. i found you laying unconscious outside of our manor in the cold and i brought you inside. your family must be worried sick about you." josephine's soft eyes squinted in worry, putting a hand on y/n's back.
'earl....?....pfttt ' the young lady couldn't help but cackle a little. "earl? miss josephine, you're speaking as if we're in the eighteen hundreds!"
josephine tilted her head in confusion, "well, dear. it is currently the year 1879. we're currently under her majesty’s queen victoria's reign. did you perhaps hit your head when you fell unconscious?"
'the year eighteen....seventy-nine....huh?! ' she kicked the covers of her,  jumping out of the bed.  "d-dear? what's wrong?" miss josephine stood up from the bed, her eyebrows dipped into a frown.
she hastily made your way to the window, bare feet thumping against the wooden floorings. pulling the curtains open, she took in the sight outside. there were carriages dragged by stallions, everyone that passed by were dressed in dresses and suits. some made from the finest silk and some from simpler materials.
'okay, maybe this is all a dream.' she quickly pulled up the sleeve of the silk nightgown she woke up in before pinching the skin just above her wrist.
"ouch!"
her head started to feel heavy as she slowly slid onto the floor once reality began to hit like a hard rock. josephine wrapped her arms around her, face contorted with worry. "miss y/n, are you alright?!"
"why am i here?.....where are the other two?.....am i the only one here?.......i'm all alone here...." she muttered under her breath though it was still audible to josephine.
her whole being shook from anxiety and realisation. she wanted to cry. how could she not?
first, she died from a car crash. now, she's in the victorian era where she had no much knowledge on how things worked. how was the other two? were they also here? or were you all alone?
she couldn't help but whimper lightly at the thought of the latter. miss josephine said nothing, only holding her closer, hand stroking her h/c locks in a comforting manner. she could feel how bad you were shaking from anxiety.
she began to speak when she felt she ease down into her embrace, hand still combing through her hair. "miss y/n, i can make some arrangements for you. i have a friend that works as a tailor down the street. i'll send a letter to her and ask her to let you work there and to find a place for you to stay."
maybe because of her current state of emotions, she shook her head almost immediately. "please let me stay with you, miss josephine."
josephine's eyes softened before she smiled rather melancholy. she tookher hands into her calloused yet delicate ones. her touch was comforting as if a mother's touch. goddamn, she really needed to fix her mommy issues.
"i'm not going to lie, miss y/n. this manor isn't what everyone thinks it's like. the earl drinks every night. not only that he is a hot-headed man, someone not easy to deal with.
he wouldn't even let me bring you in until he took one look at your face." she frowned, eyebrows twitching in distaste.
"i rather not you stay with me, dear. you'll be the safest outside this manor." josephine squeezed her hand lightly, trying to convince herto follow her planned arrangement.
y/n shook her head once again, a small smile now etched on her lips. "my mind is still the same. i wish to stay with you, miss josephine. you've taken care of me when others would have just left me outside. i'll only feel the safest when i'm around you."
josephine was about to retort back until she saw the determined look in her eyes before huffing out a smile in defeat. she brought a hand to cup your cheek, "alright."

10 Characters and 10 Fandoms
Rules: name 10 of your favourite characters from 10 different fandoms, then tag 10 people to do the same. Tagged by @negrowhat.
Thanks for the tag, Eboni! I decided to 1) keep this to Asian drama characters only because that is the focus of this blog and also the list gets way too long if include western shows too; 2) force myself to choose only one character for each show which you should know truly pained me in some instances.
So, in no particular order:
Lan Wangji - MDZS/The Untamed
Tumblr media
If you can see my icon, this one can’t be a surprise. I’m a total sucker for an emotionally repressed but utterly loyal and devoted character, and bonus points if their communication style is so subtle that a tiny facial twitch can send me into conniptions. Lan Wangji was created in a lab for me, basically.
Kakei Shiro - Kinou nani tabeta
Tumblr media
New favorite coming in hot! But see what I said above about emotional repression mixed with devotion? Yeah. YEAH. I am obsessed with the way this man draws mental boundaries to self-regulate his emotions and protect himself. And the moments when his depth of feeling breaks through are just *chefs kiss*. I lost my shit every time he let one of these smiles loose.
Teh - I Told Sunset About You
Tumblr media
And now for something completely different! Teh has never repressed an emotion in his life and I love that for him. This is one of the messiest characters I have ever loved with my whole entire heart. He loves deeply and obsessively, he is passionate and mercurial in the extreme, and he is just as likely to crush you as he is to make your heart soar. In the category of emotional intensity he is unbeatable.
Yoon Sae Bom - Happiness
Tumblr media
I LOVE THIS WOMAN. She is just as likely to patiently listen and give you devastatingly accurate life advice as she is to get frustrated and push you off a building. She’ll keep you guessing but she always has your back. She cares for children, the elderly, and gentle weirdos but she has no patience for assholes engaging in tomfoolery. And if anyone needs a good ass kicking she is always ready and willing.
Xiao Qi - Monarch Industry
Tumblr media
Now that we’re talking about ass kicking, I would be remiss not to mention this man. An absolute king of Getting Shit Done. He is walking competence porn. He commands entire armies on his strength of character alone, and at the same time he is thoroughly kind and patient with his loved ones. His moral clarity never wavers. He is loyal to the core and if you’re one of his people he will protect you and give you so many chances to do the right thing. And if you’re in a bind you can bet he’s gonna show up at exactly the right moment to help. I want to be him when I grow up.
Lee Ik Jun - Hospital Playlist
Tumblr media
Swoon. A talented surgeon, a loving father, a devoted friend, a patient lover, an all star vocalist, an actual comedian. What a man. #1 on the if I ever entertained the idea of marrying a man list.
Choi Yuna - Semantic Error
Tumblr media
Still swooning over here. #1 on the if only I was into women list. She just oozes cool in every direction. She is a loyal friend but she will absolutely mock you when you deserve it. She clearly has her shit together and knows how to fix yours, too.
Choi Taek - Reply 1988
Tumblr media
Taekie is all about the contradictions. He’s a loner genius but also a devoted friend and loving son. A total sweetheart with seemingly zero social skills who will suddenly shock you by being a bold closer when it comes to romance. A deeply wounded lost little boy but also A Man when and where it counts. PROTECT HIM AT ALL COSTS.
Tian - Khun Chai
Tumblr media
He’s just so good, y’all. One of the kindest characters I have ever encountered in fiction. Truly a cinnamon roll, too good and too pure for this world. Wants nothing more from life than to stay in the country with his boyfriend and adopted children reading and writing and occasionally visiting with his fam.
Goo Se Ra - Into the Ring
Tumblr media
Listen this woman is absolutely unhinged. Ran for office for the money. Couldn’t care less about your dumb little power struggles but will absolutely blow shit up if it helps her get ahead. All the fervor of Leslie Knope with none of the competence. I’m obsessed with her.
I am cutting myself off at 10 but I could keep going all day (Shi De, Pat, Frame, Alan, Shin Woo you are still my beloveds!!!) Tagging @troubled-mind @skamskada @lanwuxianfromlotuspier @midnight-sun16 @waitmyturtles @wen-kexing-apologist @gillianthecat @respectthepetty @chicademartinica @dangermousie if you want to play! Just ignore if you don’t. :)

This is sort of a idea nobody used in god reader au but how would the act of god reader was of old age like example they summoned god reader to late but there is one thing can you include maybe a wholesome relationship(whatever type you want)with zhongli and elderly god reader I think it would be cute
SAGAU x Elderly god!reader AU ps @catboytim I'm not satisfied on how I wrote this one (I'm multitasking and trying not be caught not paying attention in class) and I would like to expand this more if you let me :D Masterlist
I have a hunch that this AU is the most wholesome AU next to Child god! Reader.
When the elderly god was first summoned in Teyvat, the acolytes scrambled and immediately started offering their places to live in. Ningguang insisted that the Jade Chamber has sufficient resources and it is close to the city to attend to the god’s needs. Ei insisted that Inazuma can offer the same and that securities are stricter to ensure the god’s safety. Jean offered Mondstadt as a home as well, saying that the wind is cool and they have Dvalin as security that is equivalent to a 12 battalion of knights.
Between bustling cities, the elderly god took Qingce as their home. It’s not the center of commerce nor is it a place where it is always full of people. Qingce is simply a quaint village of farmers where tranquility plays as their companion. The peepaw of Liyue now has a companion to sip tea and share stories with. I don’t know about the relationship here but I think it will be a companionship. You see, when elders have ensured that their children can now move as their own body, they just live their lives afterward (I’m Asian so idk about other races).
Seeing them walking together or sharing tea is a common occurrence. The elderly god not as agile as the acolytes but they can be trusted in taking care of everyone and sharing advice. Oh Xiangling is trying new dishes but can’t come up with what to cook? Here, sit down and they’ll teach you about food in their world. The traveller is heartbroken because they once again failed in finding their sibling? It’s alright, have some pie to lift your spirits and take some fresh bread for your journey. Emotionally troubled characters came to visit *ehemDiluc*? Come sit down, Elderly god always have time for everyone.
Elderly god won’t do much in politics, that’s Ningguang/Jean/Ei’s work instead they will be going around helping raise the children of Teyvat. Seeing them being approached by women carrying their babies are common as well. I can see elderly god as someone humble. They don’t really go with the ‘god or your grace’ they are more likely to be called ‘grandma’ or ‘grandpa’ by everyone. Almost everyday offerings are being shipped to their home but they instead will have those offerings distributed to those who need it.
Zhongli for one is glad that he found someone and he’s not alone anymore. Elderly god having problems with their back? No worries, Zhongli already has one of Liyue teenagers running to Baizhu for medicine. Elderly god wants to go to the mountains for a breath of fresh air? Zhongli will take them with Xiao in the distance to ensure both their safety. The archons having problems, regaling their memories and their sadness getting the best of them? Elderly god will immediately have them in their arms telling stories of how they fare in their world.
The archons are entrusted to take care of their nations and now the archons have someone to take care of them as well.

Thank you, Barbie Movie!
When I went to the theater to see Barbie I was pleasantly surprised by all the Barbie girls I saw. It made my day to see elderly ladies decked out in hot pink all going to see the movie together (like 70 year olds), small children with pink tutus and sparkles, teenagers in trendy pink outfits, adults absolutely serving in anything from pink business suits to sequined formal dresses to pink hoodies. I saw black women, white women, asian women, latinas, all types of women decked out in a sea of pink and the vibes were amazing. Everyone complimenting eachother, smiling ear to ear and gushing about how excited we all were about the movie. Hijabi women too! Dressed in pink hijabs! Trans girlies too! 🥹 everyone was so great and I nearly cried at several points in the day due to the beauty of it all. People who just finished the movie walking out and people just coming in the theater asking how they liked it. After the movie, all the girlies swarmed to the bathroom to fix their makeup & hair & i kept spotting everyone who saw the movie in other public areas. Nearby restaurants with girlies in pink inside getting a bite to eat before/after the movie and you can just tell and they’re always so approachable and friendly i truly love women

You know that scene in hannibal where he's shown swimming laps. That wasn't just for fanservice. It's really integral character building... like... if you, for whatever reason, didn't think he was an extreme psycho before, now you also know that he swims LAPS in his free time. Just googled if unrehabilitatable is a word. Apparently it is? There has to be a better way to say it. It is (appropriately) a somewhat unsightly word. Anyways. I never speak to anyone with me in the pool's fast lane because I know they're in shark mode. If I'm dicking around stretching with the sweet elderly asian women walking in the slow lane, sure, why not, but otherwise I know it is wisest to avoid eye contact altogether... just a tip for anyone considering swimming...... when you take a break or are perhaps lounging in the hot tub, take a peek at those in the fast lane. It's easy to gleam that though they may live carefully controlled normal lives, deep down, that is someone who at their core yearns for unspeakable, terrible, painful things, but swimming is a half-suitable alternative.

If you miss three or more days of Lamictal, you have to restart it at the low dose and titrate up. If the patient gets any sort of rash whatsoever, they should stop Lamictal and never receive it again. It can cause Steven Johnson syndrome. Lamictal (lamotrigine) and Seroquel (quetiapine) are both okay for treatment of bipolar disorder in pregnancy. Lamictal is not as safe for breast-feeding a seroquel is. Lamictal can decrease the effectiveness of oral contraceptive pills. Although Lamictal can decrease the effectiveness of oral contraceptive pills, the likelihood of getting pregnant by accident is low. You start with 25 mg QD for two weeks and then increase to 50 mg QD for two weeks and then increase to 100 mg x1 week, and then increase by 50 mg every week if needing higher doses. You can go up to 200 mg a day if necessary. If you need more than that, then you can divide the dose b.i.d. You should use the lowest dose with the best effect.
Depakote and lithium should not be used in women of childbearing age.
So I asked her about lithium for bipolar disorder as well. Before starting you can check some baseline labs. At least check calcium, TSH, creatinine; monitor these as well as the serum lithium level. The therapeutic lithium level range is between 0.5 and 0.8. If the patient is acutely manic, 1.2 is a therapeutic level. When the patient is manic, serum levels of lithium are lower. When the patient is not manic anymore, he can have toxicity from increased doses that you needed during the manic episode. So you need to increase carefully and decrease it after they’re out of the manic episode. Monitor the patient two times a week with labs until they’re stable.
You can use mood stabilizers that are antipsychotics or mood stabilizers that are not antipsychotics. The mood stabilizers for bipolar disorder that are non-antipsychotics and therefore have no risk of causing tardive dyskinesia include lithium, Lamictal, Depakote, Trileptal, Tegretol. Lamictal is a moderate mood stabilizer and is not strong enough for patients with bipolar 1, who you have episodes of mania. It may be better for patients with bipolar 2, who have hypomania or not really any real manic episodes. Lamictal works for irritability as well in patients with borderline personality disorder. The antipsychotics that can be used as mood stabilizers include olanzapine, seroquel, Abilify, Latuda, vraylar, caplyta. The antipsychotics cause tardive dyskinesia because they occupy the D2 receptors. She doesn’t use Latuda as monotherapy. Vraylar has no sexual side effects. She said to stick with the lower dose, which is 1.5 mg, unless the patient is really manic. It takes 2 to 3 weeks for Vraylar to work. You can stay at the 1.5 mg dose for four weeks and then see the patient again and evaluate whether or not you want to increase the dose. Caplyta is sedating and you should tell patients to take it two hours before bedtime. Don’t start at the 42 mg dose. Use the 10.5 mg dose for elderly patients or the 21 mg dose for younger patients.
Ingrezza can treat tardive dyskinesia (send to Genoa pharmacy). Austedo is an older med for TD. Amantadine can also help.
Elderly patients should not receive benzodiazepines. You can use melatonin or trazodone for sleep problems in elderly patients. If they come to you and they are on benzos, she said you can slowly convert them to Valium (but Valium is a benzo so I’m confused by that🤷🏽‍♀️). There’s something called the UK benzo taper which is done over eight weeks.
Medication for schizophrenia include olanzapine and vraylar. Thorazine increases the risk of QT prolongation. Vraylar and caplyta do not increase weight gain. Injectable meds are also effective and are good for patients with poor compliance. If someone is of Asian descent you do gene screening before starting Lamictal. You can use Wellbutrin to treat ADHD but it’s not as effective. For children you can give them strattera, qelbree, or guanfacine, which are not stimulants. There are two classes of stimulants that can be used for ADHD which are the amphetamines and the methylphenidates. Some people have better success with one drug class or the other. So if they don’t do well on the amphetamines you can try the methylphenidates.

The Project, featuring Steven Potaczek: Flags
My original concept was to have the lyrics on one side of the screen with the names and ages of the victims of mass shootings scrolling on the other side of the screen. I quickly found out that it would be impossible. There were too many victims. I then decided simply to list mass shootings in the United States. Again, I could not make it work. There were too many mass shootings. Finally, I decided only to list the mass shootings not related to family disputes (there are numerous examples of these) since Columbine. It took me three days and the list ran to six pages. It took us a few days to put together the video. When we finished it up last Thursday, Owen turned to me and said, “You know, this will go out of date quickly…” Then, on the weekend, came the latest mass shooting in Odessa, Texas.
We can argue about Second Amendment rights. We can argue about the definition of what constitutes an “assault rifle”. We can argue about the original intent of the framers of the Constitution. We can argue about the NRA… and money… and politics. What it is harder to argue about are the victims. They range in age from infants to the elderly. They were elementary school children at Sandy Hook. They were high school students at Parkland. They were college students at Virginia Tech. They were Black, White, Hispanic, Asian and Native American. They were men and women, boys and girls. They were gay, straight and transgender. They were conservative and liberal. They were Christians, Jews and Muslims. They were Sikhs and Buddhists. They were of varied faiths and of no faith at all. Most of all, they were men and women created in the image of God whose lives were cut short owing to this national epidemic of gun violence.
This, of course, is not even to speak of those who have not died, but have sustained terrible and life altering injuries – physical, emotional and psychological. Then there are the families and friends of the victims and, indeed, the shooters, who will carry the loss (and/or guilt) throughout the rest of their lives. Like a stone thrown in a pond, the circle of ripples expand until they touch all of us.
While I could offer thoughts on what might be done, they would be of little real consequence and, most likely, would be quickly dismissed by anyone on the other side of the issue. I do think, however, that there is need for a national conversation not based in politics, but in simple humanity. Maybe part of that conversation begins by us simply asking the question in the song, “Why anyone has to die…”

“They are disgusting.”
“All she wants from you is a green card.”
“You sellout. You married a white dog.”
“Wouldn't you rather date someone of your own race?”
Satoru took his time reading the insults underneath the enlarged black and white photographs, snorting at one couple’s caption, “Let me know if you need a bigger dick.” The portrait showed an asian man and a white woman holding hands, their faces unsmiling. How absurd. Only an insecure loser with a tiny penis would say something that stupid. He then looked to his right to see another photograph of a white woman wearing a sari next to her husband, maybe Indian or Bangladeshi, with their young son. “I hope he is born with a turban on,” it read “I hope he is born with STD's.” Okay, that one had him cringing. Yikes.
Donna Pinckley was an American photographer whose work mainly focused on racial issues within the American South. Her most famous project “Sticks and Stones” had garnered worldwide attention and had officially made its Japanese debut in Tokyo. In each photograph she would have an interracial couple stand in the center and underneath would have them write disparaging comments they had received from someone in real life. “I want the viewer to look at the portrait first and then look down and see the writing,” Pinckley explained. “I want them to see how beautiful and how much they love each other first.”
Kumari and Ichiro had already toured the gallery earlier that week and had told Hannah all about it, insisting she go. So for the last few days his wife had been begging him to take her. “It’s important we see it, Satoru,” were her exact words. “Please?”
Important? Well, how could he argue with that? Happy wife, happy life, right? He decided to take her on St. Valentine's Day, fittingly enough, but apparently he wasn’t the only one.
Satoru looked around the gallery to see the many newcomers; an Iranian man linked arm-in-arm with a Korean women, speaking to her in a mix between English and Persian; A Chinese woman and her Vietnamese girlfriend snapping a cute pic together on a bench near the drinking fountain; An elderly Japanese husband lovingly zipping his French wife’s coat, her hands painfully bent with arthritis, before they both journeyed back outside in the cold. All of them had come to see Pinckley’s work. Perhaps as a mark of solidarity.
As it were, Japan was a largely homogenous country, meaning most people formed friendships, worked together with, and married other Japanese. In Tokyo the chances of running into a foreigner were higher than most, but slim. Satoru could recall on multiple occasions when he’d been mistaken for a foreigner, with his striking blue eyes and snow white hair. That’s usually how people envisioned gaijin; someone of Caucasian or European descent; fair skin, blue eyes, light colored hair. Anyone a shade darker, a kokujin, might (but very seldom) be met with suspicion or open hostility. The subject made Satoru curious and not long after he was married, he had begun reading about gaijin baseball players and what it was like playing in Japan during the 80’s and early 90’s.
Their experiences were not always positive.
Leron Lee was a gifted baseball prodigy from sunny Sacramento, California. Shortly after high school, he was scouted by the St. Louis Cardinals, later making his Major League debut with the Redbirds at age 21. Things seemed great at the start. The Major Leagues were seen as the epitome of baseball, except Lee was confronted with an unexpected problem. He kept getting traded and the coaches continuously benched him. Why? Because there was always someone better, faster, or stronger to place in the starting lineup, and as a result Lee had gotten kicked to the curb. It reached the point where he was receiving little to no playing time, and make no mistake, Lee wanted to play. So he took a gamble, and after eight seasons playing baseball in the U.S, 29 year old Lee grabbed his passport and boarded a plane for Kawasaki, Japan to join the Lotte Orions’ organization.
His debut season in 1977 as an Orion was met with huge success, leading the entire league with 34 home runs and 109 RBIs, but Lee would soon face a second problem. The Nippon Professional Baseball league did not want their star player to be a black man, so as to maintain the “Japaneseness” of the league, as they put it. After winning the batting title in 1980. “Only five people in the Lotte organization congratulated me, “ Lee would go on to say. “The following spring when they gave me my silver bat for being the batting champion, they did it in the clubhouse. No presentation at home plate in front of the fans. They just handed it to me. They seemed ashamed.” This, and the hurl of racial epithets the drunken crowds would fling at him whenever Lee struck out or made a bad play. Any sense of complaining was taken as a show of weakness. In all his years donning the Orion’s uniform, Lee would receive no brand endorsements and had to pay for his own equipment out of pocket. Nevermind that he was one of the few gaijin players who bothered to master the Japanese language while taking considerable salary cuts. Not even his white teammates did that.
It wasn’t all bad of course. Despite these setbacks, Lee liked living in Japan and had no regrets about moving there. He even invited his younger brother to play in the NPB for a short time. (It’s worth noting that Lee also married outside his race; a Japanese woman who once served as his translator. They would go on to have two children together, both girls).
Since his retirement in 1987, a lot had changed in the NPB and how they treated their gaijin players, but that same attitude couldn't be said about Japan’s views on foreigners as a whole (at least not yet).
In 2000, the disappearance and horrendous murder of Lucie Blackman would make front page news on practically every Japanese outlet, and the world, bringing down one of the country’s most infamous serial rapists in the process. Lucie Blackman, an English national and former flight attendant, arrived in Tokyo during the summer of 2000. To make a little extra money, she and a friend each got gigs working as hostesses for a Roppongi nightclub, a job that was similar to a modern day geisha, albeit with less elegance, but less degrading than stripping (or prostitution for that matter, which is still illegal). Many foreign women, most traveling on tourist visas, would take hostessing jobs. Ostensibly, they were hired to entice men inside the club and have them order as many rounds as possible. This also provided a not so subtle way for Japanese men to strike conversation and interact with foreign women, especially white women. A natural blonde with long legs and blue eyes, Lucie Blackman exotic beauty surely wetted many men’s appetites and caught the attention of unwanted admirers. One of whom would be her rapist and killer.
Under the law, it was illegal to work in Japan with only a tourist visa, leaving many foreign women vulnerable to exploitation and blackmail. Such was the case with Lucie Blackman, and because she was a foreigner, her disappearance wasn’t taken seriously at first, but when the British Embassy got word, the story caused a considerable uproar back home in England. Where is Lucie? Who could've done this? Why aren’t the Japanese authorities doing more? Is she even alive?
It wouldn’t be until the following year, February 9, 2001, that her body was recovered. Autopsy showed that Lucie had been drugged and repeatedly raped, before being viciously murdered. Once dead, her body had been hacked to pieces and left inside a cave encased in concrete. Obara Joji, a wealthy businessman, and frequent visitor of many foreign-filled nightclubs, was charged of rape and manslaughter and sentenced to life imprisonment. However, despite swaths of evidence, prosecutors could not prove without a reasonable doubt that Obara was Lucie’s killer. Investigators would later find that not only had Obara likely raped Lucie Blackman, but possibly more than a hundred other foreign women for almost a decade without being caught. All of them, hostesses. Most of them, white.
Lucie’s tragic murder brought to light many atrocities involving foreign women and the Japanese hostess industry. However, the real questions on everyone’s mind were these: Why was her disappearance not taken seriously from the beginning? And how did a man, who had been arrested previously on charges of sexual assault, manage to get away with drugging and rapping innocent women for nearly ten years? Satoru didn’t have an answer. Thankfully, progress was being made. “Human trafficking” was now part of the Japanese lexicon and most people were very welcoming of foreigners regardless of race or nationality, especially ones like Hannah who knew the language and were respectful of the culture, but every now and then you’d encounter some right-wing kook who believed every outlandish conspiracy the Sankei Shimbun wrote, and brought it upon themselves to ruin life for everybody. Satoru wouldn’t forget the day he witnessed that reality for himself, and not at the hands of the jujutsu elite.
It was November, 2015. Hannah wanted to go for a late breakfast in Tokyo, and between teaching and missions, Satoru greatly favored the idea. It had been a while since he had spent time with his wife. So, he chose a restaurant neither of them had visited before, but unbeknownst to them, the restaurant was run by a certain…group of people.
“Sorry, your girlfriend can’t come in here.”
Satoru’s eyes narrowed at the wrinkly old man guarding the entrance. “She’s not my girlfriend, gramps. Mind telling me why my wife can’t come in?”
The man drew a puff from his cigarette and tapped on a sign placed near the doorway.
NO FOREIGNERS ALLOWED.
Satoru’s glare worsened. “What if she’s not a foreigner?”
The old man gave a chortling laugh and spat at the ground. “If she wasn’t born here, she’s a foreigner. Plain and simple.”
That riled Satoru’s anger.
“The hell? How is that even legal?”
“Hey, twerp. Don’t look at me,” the man said, showing him his hands. “I just do what I’m told. It’s not my job to make the rules. Only follow them.”
“What did you just call me, old man?”
Satoru took a threatening step forward, heatedly removing his glasses to reveal his glacial blue eyes.
Hannah, wishing to avoid conflict, quickly grabbed Satoru’s arm and got between him and the old man, bowing deeply.
“Please excuse my husband’s rudeness and for informing us of the rules. We will take our leave now. Have a nice day.”
Her Japanese was flawless as she said it. No accent or mispronunciation to be had. Absolute perfection. Even the old man seemed visibly impressed, but didn’t dare voice it out loud and breathed out another puff from his cigarette.
Satoru was still fuming about it as they walked hand in hand down the street.
“‘No foreigners allowed?’ That’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. Why has no one notified their representative? If it were me, I would’ve taught that guy a lesson or phoned a lawyer. How’re you not mad?”
“He was simply doing his job, Satoru. I’m sure he’s not like that outside of work.”
Satoru abruptly stopped walking and tugged his wife’s hand, pulling her to him so they were facing each other. He hadn’t put his glasses back on.
“That’s not an excuse, Hannah.” He veered her off to the side and cupped her flushed cheeks, speaking tenderly. “The sun and moon cannot light up a crooked hole. This is your home — Heck, you voted in the election for cryin’ out loud, and your Japanese is better than most. You’re not an outsider.” His forehead connected to hers, tracing her lips with his thumb. “Not to me.”
Gojo Hannah offered him a sad smile. The kind that said, ‘I sympathize with you wholeheartedly, but I’ll say nothing more on the matter.’ With deft fingers, she reached up to rewrap the tartan red scarf around his neck - a birthday present she had gifted him last year - and stood on her tippy toes to give him a reassuring kiss.
“Come on then, you big sod, let’s go to Jade5. I remember how much we liked their pancakes.”
Hannah was willing to forgive and forget the whole encounter ever happened.
Satoru, not so much.
That was the only time his wife had ever been denied access somewhere for being a foreigner, but the Six Eyes wielder was no fool. He knew his country was not a garden full of cherry trees. The old isolationist mindset had not vanished off these shores. While it may not have profited off a global slave trade, or segregated whites from blacks, Japan was not without sins. She had committed heinous crimes in the past. Ask the Koreans how their women were treated in the midst of Japanese occupation. Or the Chinese when the Imperial Army laid siege upon Nanjing. Their contempt wasn't without justifiable cause. And with that came national and ethnic animosity on both sides. Still, to this day.
Satoru had learned much since becoming a married man. Although, that didn’t make him ‘colorblind’ of the situation. Colorblind, he thought. What a half-baked idea. While it was likely drawn from good intent, Satoru saw nothing wrong with pointing out someone’s physical characteristics. It only became an issue when it was used as a vehicle for discrimination. Hannah was English-European. She had auburn hair, hazel eyes, fair skin, and a faint dusting of freckles. She was clearly foreign, anyone with eyes could see that, but it didn’t prompt Satoru to go up to people and say, “Sorry, folks. This is a decoy. I leave my Japanese wife at home to do the cleaning.” No. Hannah was his wife, his one and only. If people didn’t like it, then that was their problem. And to be perfectly clear, most held zero qualms about their relationship. They had more prescient matters on their minds like global warming, the suicide rate, or the aging population.
Having enough of his musings, Satoru stopped skimming the rows of photographs and looked around the art gallery for his wife. He saw her standing down the hall in front of a portrait; a white man and his Japanese fiance.
“They're like us, Satoru,” she said as he came to join her.
“Yeah.” He wrapped an arm around his bride and held her close. “They sure are.”
Those idiots could cast their sticks and stones all they liked.
Their love was stronger than their hate.

A trans indentified woman in Germany after intervening when a lesbian couple were being verbally attacked by a homophobe. This good samaritan was then knocked to the ground and suffered a fatal head blow. The perpetrator, a man, has been arrested thankfully. But the internet is blaming ‘terfs’ for this killing because of the victims gender identity. Woman are made responsible for male violence, always
literally how could a woman/women be blamed for that??? how awful. not to mention the fact that because that trans person was a biological female, being hit by a man was far more likely to kill her than a male. female skulls are thinner, men are stronger. this is a case of male violence, that dude would have almost certainly not tried to hit a male, let alone one larger than him. he went for females on purpose. like how the majority of victims of anti asian hate crimes in the united states were women, many elderly women. cowards males that don't deserve life.
