Listening to LOTR audiobook while I work and I just got to the arrival at Edoras. Maybe it’s my American upbringing but I couldn’t help laughing when Aragorn pitched a fit about having to leave his sword outside, “This is Anduril, Elendil’s sword that was broken, now reforged blah, blah, blah…” and this dude at the door basically responds “I don’t care what your sword’s name is, you have to leave it with security before you go inside!”

They wake up in the same bed in the Field of Cormallen.

The trip from the glades of Ithilien to the spectacular city of Minas Tirith to the spectacular city of Edoras to the lush gardens of Rivendell lasts from April to October. Guys, it’s right there in the text under our noses; these two hobbits got the beautiful 6-month honeymoon that they deserved!

It’s canon that they were in a marriage of their own making, if not a legal one, and had a honeymoon. And a darn good one at that. Ithilien, Minas Tirith, AND Rivendell? What a dream.
