Found the perfect 1890s album page for my carte de visites of three Arctic veterans: John Hillary Allard, Leopold McClintock and George Strong Nares. They all went on search expeditions for the Franklin Expedition. Nares later led the British Arctic Expedition 1875.

Photographers Hannchen Jacobsen and Rachel Johnsen, who ran a photography business at Kirkegata 16 in Stavanger, Norway, from 1904 until Hannchen's death in 1908. Homosexuality was forbidden by law at that time. Rachel died in 1960, 52 years after Hannchen died. She never married.
