The E3 2011 demo version of Super Mario 3D Land contained an unused level in its files that consisted of a blue void with a few floating objects. Upon loading it, Mario would fall for 50 seconds past the objects and then die.

In the E3 2011 demo of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, a different pause menu theme from the final version was in the game, which can be heard in this post. While the melody is very similar to the finished version, in that version, the volume of the woodwinds is turned down while the volume of the pizzicato strings is turned up, making the melody harder to discern. The melody appears to resemble the folk song "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow".

Interestingly, it was this version of the theme, and not the final version, that was included on the 2013 Japan-only "Year of Luigi Sound Selection" CD, available as a reward for Club Nintendo members.

So, dumb question, but...

So I was thinking about DMC: Devil May Cry and just how childish Dante and Vergil were in their argument at the end of the game. And it makes me think: Were they supposed to be much younger than they looked?

'cause they look like they are in their early 20s, but they were fighting, like they were 17-18 years old, right? I'm not the only one that thought this, right?!

I'm reminded that Dante's design was changed up from the E3 2011 trailer's time (still a big mistake, honestly, I much preferred his skrunkly look there) and I wonder if they were supposed to be literal teens?!!!!

Suddenly their bullshit would have made so much more sense, oh my goddddddd.

So, I know your current focus is likely on your amazing roleswap comic for Forgotten Lands. But I do wanna know if you have any thoughts on the current stuff going on with Magolor in the Return to Dreamland Deluxe remake?

YO, I AM SO FRIGGIN EXCITED FOR THIS EPILOGUE!! The orignal RtDL was such a core childhood memory for me and I played it so much and drew so much about it!! I remember following the supposed development of Kirby GCN and combing through every E3 reveal list for years before they finally announced it. I can still remember my raw excitement when I watched the RtDL trailer. It felt like the best thing that ever happened to me at the time. You know, in the way kids feel things! The way I cried tears of joy in the first moments of the first level, and to the first notes of the ending credits. I could write way too much about how dear that game is to me.

But get this. Waaaaay back in 2011, I think baby Jojo accidentally predicted a few small things about the epilogue.

For a few pages in this old notebook of mine, I drew this pathetic bandage-clad Magolor who was lost somewhere non-specific (I never explored it further). He was supposed to be disgraced and stripped of his cool powers after his defeat (this was before the 20th Anniversary Collection came out that showed us all he was alive and okay somehow). I guess Apollo sneezed in my general direction that day and gave me the vaguest, lamest powers of prophecy, haha

But yes when I saw the trailer I just lost it because we’re finally learning how this guy managed to be totally okay after fading into space! I’m so glad I get to play this! These next 11 days are going to feel like the past 12 years, LOL

Paper Mario, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario each have 8 chapters in a "7+1" scheme, where the first seven chapters revolve around a set of seven similar entities (the Star Spirits, the Crystal Stars, and the seven doors on the Flipside Tower) while the final one revolves around whatever plot the seven entities were leading up to (storming Bowser's castle, passing through the Thousand-Year Door, and going through the one door on the Flopside Tower).

However, Paper Mario: Sticker Star reduces the number of sections (now no longer called "chapters") to 6, with 5 Royal Stickers that need to be collected before facing Bowser, who has a differently-shaped final Royal Sticker. Interestingly, the game's 2011 E3 trailer very briefly showed a page that seemed to depict 7 Royal Stickers, which are also each the same shape.

This suggests that the structure of the game was originally intended to resemble those of the previous three games in the series, with seven equally-valued collectibles and then presumably a separate final segment.
