Open Heaven For Teens 11 December 2022 – Reasons For Hospitality
TOPIC: Reasons For Hospitality [Open Heaven for Teens 11 December 2022]
MEMORISE: Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Hebrews 13:2
READ: 2 Kings 4:8-17
And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread.
And she said unto her husband, Behold now, I perceive that this is an holy man of God, which passeth by us continually.
Let us make a little chamber, I pray thee, on the wall; and let us set for him there a bed, and a table, and a stool, and a candlestick: and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither.
And it fell on a day, that he came thither, and he turned into the chamber, and lay there.
And he said to Gehazi his servant, Call this Shunammite. And when he had called her, she stood before him.
And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.
And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old.
And he said, Call her. And when he had called her, she stood in the door.
And he said, About this season, according to the time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said, Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine handmaid.
And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that Elisha had said unto her, according to the time of life.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Revelation 2:1-29, Hosea 9-11
MESSAGE:
Hospitality is the act of generosity and friendliness towards strangers and guests. Several Scriptures of the Bible speak about the importance of hospitality. For instance, Romans 12:13 says:
“Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.”
Every child of God is therefore expected to be hospitable. One reason is that since we expect people to be hospitable towards us, we should be so to others, too. Whatever you sow, you will reap (Matthew 7:12 ). Another reason is that hospitality is a criterion that would be used to separate the goats from the sheep on the last day. In Matthew 25:33-35 , Jesus clearly stated that the goats will be sent to hell where there will be gnashing of teeth. You should always be hospitable. Rather than spend your birthday with friends, spend time in an orphanage. Take your food and cake there to celebrate with the less privileged children. God is particular about the needy, never miss an opportunity to be a blessing to the ones around you.
KEY POINT:
Being hospitable tells if you are a true child of God.
HYMN: Let Others See Jesus In You
While passing through this world of sin,
And others your life shall view,
Be clean and pure without, within,
Let others see Jesus in you.
CHORUS
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you;
Keep telling the story, be faithful and true,
Let others see Jesus in you.
Your life’s a book before their eyes,
They’re reading it through and through;
Say, does it point them to the skies,
Do others see Jesus in you?
What joy ’twill be at set of sun,
In mansions beyond the blue,
To find some souls that you have won;
Let others see Jesus in you.
Then live for Christ both day and night,
Be faithful, be brave, and true,
And lead the lost to life and light;
Let others see Jesus in you.
Daily Devotional for Teen’s guide was written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, one of the largest evangelical church in the world and also the President of Christ the Redeemer’s Ministries.

A Letter to Matthew.
Dear Matthew,
Today I write you a letter of gratitude. A truer gratitude, a gratitude I wish I had known and understood during the time I knew you.  Thank you, for showing me all of the kindness you could muster at every given time in our relationship together. From the first night-long conversation together that September (or August?) night to the sour and bittersweet day you helped me move back home from our home to San Antonio. The amount of kindness I received from you was kindness I had only known from a handful of people. I remember how your kindness made me feel a freedom that I didn’t know quite how to give to myself yet. I remember the way it instilled confidence in me, strength, encouragement. I don’t know where you learned that kindness from other than the beautiful soul that you are. Even in the last year together, when you were bogged down with feelings of resentment and heartbreak, and even when you initially acted out of anger or pain, you would retrace your steps and tell me what you should have done, how you should have acted. Thank you for having the grace to tell me that, and to show me that the way we had known in that dark year, was not the way to continue. Today I receive that kindness, thank you.  Thank you for loving me so fully, that there were days you wept. Thank you for a love that moved you across the country time and time again to find the closeness in life that which we felt in heart. Thank you for a love that was undoubtable from the moment we first spoke to one another, for a love that was patient and humble. A love that brought me joy every time I saw your face. The first sane love I felt for the first time in my life, besides my sister. A love that hurt when I hurt, that rejoiced when I rejoiced, that worked to see me as clearly as it could see another. That was beautiful, thank you so much for that. (Remember in our first month speaking, you even listened to Days of Future Passed twice because you heard how I spoke of it, that was the first time someone had done that for me. And do you remember how you picked me flowers at UTSA one visit while I was in class and made a tiny bouquet for me? It is from that happiness and surprise I felt that makes me obsessed with picking mini bouquets for my beloved ones now. And do you remember how you held me that one time I got a UTI so bad, that I cried and shuddered and remembered the pain of my childhood. You held me and let me sleep for hours and I felt healed by your love. You love was healing. Thank you.) Today, I receive that love all over again.  Thank you for all your physical gifts that you brought my way. I still use every single one and you don’t know the amount of joy they bring into my life. My ukelele, I use it so much and make so much music, sing so joyously, so loudly from it. I’m better now, you know. For my watercolor set, I have given countless gifts with it, have expressed myself in countless ways, have made myself soft, as soft as their colors. Thank you for my favorite movies, and the financial debt you spared me from. Thank you for nourishing me, for housing me, for entertaining me that whole year and every other time in the three years of us, thank you for all of that space to pay off all of my student debt. Thank you for feeding my adventurous soul, thank you for showing me new places, new movies, new music, new experiences. I had never felt brave to explore until I was guided by the love of you in my heart, and it made way to a deeper love, a braver love for myself that now brings me to countless joys. Thank you! I receive these gifts every day.  Thank you for emotionally abandoning me. I know you did it only until your heart could bear no more pain from being completely present. Thank you for leaving without physically leaving, because it made me find emotional presence in myself. Without your absence, I would not have found myself. Thank you for being a dad to the little girl in me that wanted one so badly, and then thank you for leaving. It would not have been able to be sustained, and she had to know that. Thank you for giving me the physical space in Corpus, to weed all the bad thoughts that were no longer serving me, and to plant new, kind seeds of flowers that are continuing to sprout even this day. (And thank you Nena, my sister, for being reachable every day to show me only love and kindness to help me find my way out of the darkness, and it was a great darkness. It was your light at the end of the tunnel, in San Antonio, that helped me find my way.)  Thank you for judging me, for being the perfect mirror to my exact way of being so that I could wake up. Thank you for putting yourself through that painful experience of judgement. Thank you for holding the resentment and the pain, so I could experience it second-handedly and wake up to my own pain. Thank you for enduring all the pain and neglect and violence I put onto you.  Thank you for every morning in our little nest that you held my sleepy self, and told me you loved me. Thank you for that moment to remind me you did love me, only to go back to neglectful so I could see the difference. So I wouldn’t believe that all you gave me was neglect. Thank you for helping me understand what true love is. Your love was true, your freedom was true. It was unconditional, up until your ego took hold, and pain took hold. Thank you for that, you showed me I carried the same unconditional love, the same unconditional freedom in me, up until my own ego and pain take hold. Thank you for teaching me to let go. Thank you for making me make the decision of ending the relationship, it helped me understand that I have to make decisions from my intuition. Thank you for being the puppet in all of my dreams for all my anxious thoughts of judgement and neglect. You are not that, but thank you for lending your dream body and face to represent that. Look at all the ways you are still aiding my awakeness to true unconditional love and freedom. So Matthew, it seems that you give me everything you have always given me to this day. You give me love, you give me freedom, you give me clarity. Wow, thank you. I have to admit that before I took on this exercise, I saw you as mostly a mistake, and I could not remember or see anything past the pain I felt from the last year and a half of our three years together. And I realize once again how you bring me back to myself. What I was doing to you before writing this letter was the same way you stopped seeing me at the end of our relationship. And I am not that pain you felt, and you are not the pain I feel. You are love. I see that now. You are expansive beautiful love, and I wish you everything your heart desires. Because you deserve to be forgiven and praised, and I deserve to be forgiven and praised. Thank you, my friend. You were one of my best friends for such a beautiful long time. I was annoyed earlier of how I still find little notes I had written for you in old notebooks, or coloring books, or novels, and now I am ecstatic to see memories of my dear old friend. I love you, I do.  Thank you for all the ways I got to grow with you. I would not be the woman I am today without your patience, faith in me, and love.  Thank you.
I am kinder now. I am deeper now. I love myself now, and I grant myself freedom now. No one grants me that. I only get provided more of it, and that is a beautiful feeling. Without you, I could not love my sister as openly and maturely as I can. Without you, I could not love Elijah, Nyree, Edgar, Veronica, Sada or any other beautiful soul that crosses my path often these days as freely and as unconditionally as I do. WIthout you, I would not be as kind and as patient and as giving to all my partners that came after you. Without you, I could not sit in the garden full of forgiveness, full of country skies. Without you, I would not be in heaven right now. Without you, I would not be the same. So thank you. Thank you, thank you. This is truly what I wanted to tell you, all those times I imagined bumping into you with anxiety of judgement driving my mind, I realize what I truly wanted to tell you was thank you! Thank you for all the ways you loved me into loving, you freed me into freedom, and left me to fly and soar on my own wings. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You watched me from afar since high school, across the country. Thank you for letting me find you in my own time, and leave you in my own time. You are the epitome of kindness and patience and without you I would not be standing as tall as the sunflower I am today.  Thank you.
E.A
P.S - Thank you for still paying for my spotify premium! You are so gracious, and have always been gracious. Whenever you no longer pay for it, I will still be grateful.
Continue leading a life of love.

NecroManIcon part 1.1
Book of the Black Dragon
This is the Book of MARDUK, begotten of our Master ENKI, Lord of Magicians, who did defeat TIAMAT, known as KUR, known as HUWAWA in magick combat, who defeated the Ancient Ones that the Elders may live and rule the Earth.
(from NECRONOMICON page 123, Avon Books 1980)
Part One
chapter one ::  L EVIATHAN
"That crooked serpent...the dragon that is in the sea."
Thus was Leviathan, the most stupendous and spectacular of God's beasts, described in the Book of Isaiah.
On the fifth day of Creation, the day upon which God shaped and breathed life into all of the creatures of the sea, He fashioned the mighty and magnificent serpent dragon Leviathan to serve as the ruler of this vast marine kingdom. The boundless coils of its immensely long body were encased in an impervious sheathing of overlapping scales, and it thrashed through the water with such explosive force that the ocean depths boiled like a fathomless cauldron. Its incandescent eyes, more than 300 in number, illuminated the seas beyond and the skies above with their radiant glow. Seething steam jetted forth from its flared nostrils, and brilliant tongues of fire flickered from its enormous jaws.
Initially, God created a pair of these fantastic beasts, but when it became clear that their collective power was so awesome that the entire world was threatened by the prospect of a race of such creatures ultimately establishing itself, God destroyed one of them. ...As compensation for the loss of its partner, He granted immortality.
Since then, during the final three hours of every day, God has played with Leviathan, disporting with His gargantuan creation-and this will continue until the Day of Judgement. Only then will Leviathan die, slain by the Archangel Gabriel...
~ from Dragons A Natural History by Dr. Karl Shuker, Simon & Schuster 1995
By the time Mohammad was writing Shaitan was being called 'the Old Serpent (dragon)' and 'the Lord of the Abyss'. The Old Serpent or Old Dragon is according to experts such as E.A. Budge and S.N. Kramer, Leviathan. Leviathan is Lotan. Lotan traces to Tietan. Tietan, we are told by the authorities on Near Eastern mythology is a later form of Tiamat. According to the experts the Dragon of the Abyss called Shaitan is the same Dragon of the Abyss named Tiamat.

This Cross and Cairn are erected over the bodies of Capt. Scott, C.V.O., R.N.;    Dr E.A. Wilson, M.B., B.A. Cantab.:    Lt. H.R. Bowers, Royal Indian Marines. A slight token  to perpetuate their gallant and successful attempt to reach the Pole.  This they did on the 17th January 1912 after the Norwegian expedition had already done so.  Inclement weather and lack of fuel was the cause of their death.    Also to commemorate their two gallant comrades, Capt. L.E.G. Oates of the Inniskilling Dragoons, who walked to his death in a blizzard to save his comrades, about 18 miles south of this position. Also of Seaman Edgar Evans, who died at the foot of the Beardmore Glacier.    The Lord gave and the Lord taketh away.  Blessed be the name of the Lord.
Relief Expedition.                                                  [signed by all members of the party]
The search party, led by Atkinson, retrieved letters and diaries and any important belongings from the tent, then collapsed it over them and built as high a snow cairn as they could, topped with a cross made from Gran's skis (he would ski Scott's skis 'home').   "I do not know how long we were there," Cherry wrote in The Worst Journey in the World, "but when all was finished, and the chapter of Corinthians had been read, it was midnight of some day.  The sun was dipping low above the Pole, the Barrier was almost in shadow.  And the sky was blazing – sheets and sheets of iridescent clouds.  The Cairn and Cross stood dark against a glory of burnished gold."

So much beauty in one light So much freedom in their flight Everything they give, So little that they take The stability of their existence, The change of their appearance, The light and warmth they give the universe, The shade and lonelyness they then get in reverse They show me what to want, And what to aim in life: Shine bright on people's skies And lead them through the dark

A lot of questions... my my, someone's curious lol
@black-satin-dancer tagged me, cheers dude :D
Rules: answer all the questions, add one of your own and tag as many people as there are questions …pshh please, let’s keep it realistic - I don’t even know that many people irl. (also didn’t feel obligated to answer the Dragon age/Mars effect questions, because I’ve never played it)
1. coke or pepsi?
Neither. I absolutely hate fizzy sweet drinks lol. The only thing I enjoy is kombucha and I’ve had ginger ale which I can tolerate. (btw did you know there’s something called bacon soda? I just found out and I’m absolutely horrified and disgusted. pls burn this knowledge out of my brain thank)
2. disney or dreamworks?
I don’t have a preference, nor am I overly invested in any of the two, so it depends. By Disney I really like Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare before Christmas and Frankenweenie, to pick a few. As for DreamWorks, Penguins of Madagascar are THE SHIT omg 3. coffee or tea? I’m a tea person, however I enjoy coffee flavour in things
4. books or movies?
Both
5. windows or mac?
I use windows, don’t feel like I’m missing out or anything tbh
6. dc or marvel?
I’m only starting to get into comics, and I’ve probably seen more marvel films than dc ones, but I think I like dc a little more I like the older Batman films by Tim Burton.
7. xbox or playstation?
playstation. “OF COURSE we’re going to go with the ps4 - they’re blacker!” :D
8. dragon age or mass effect?
Haven’t played either, but was thinking about giving Dragon age a go
9. night owl or early riser?
aw shit dude, I don’t even know anymore. my sleeping schedule is so fucked up lately, I tend to be a night owl tho. But hey, time isn’t really anyway, so..
10. cards or chess?
both, but you can do more with cards. like chess is just one game, but there are lots of different card games. I personally identify with CAH, I think the company should hire me, because I’m a horrible person lmao
11. chocolate or vanilla?
chocolate all the way. I don’t eat it often, but when I do, I’m a snob about it - I only like the dark stuff (only vegan ofc). bonus points, if there’s dried fruit like berries in it. To sum it up (i’m taking this way too seriously and detailed lol, but I have insomnia ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) overall, chocolate flavour is better I guess, vanilla makes me vomit, it’s disgusting and I hate it. 12.vans or converse? I used to own a pair of converse, but neither are shoes I’d wear now
13. fluff or angst?
a good combination of both ehehe
14. beach or forest?
forests are awesome - they are green and smell amazing, you can spot a lot of wild animals and the atmosphere is very serene and calming. I’ll always pick forests over beaches, unless the beach is all sand or small round marble stones, the water is clear without the detached, rotting algae stuff that floats around and ew, the sun has fucked off so I don’t get sunburnt (my skin always skips the tan stage right to red and I prefer pale skin anyway) and all sweaty and shit, there are NO people beside those I’m there with and I do NOT spot any animal while in the water that’s bigger than like 5cm. Because even though I love and respect it deeply, I’m genuinely afraid of sea life, I don’t care that there are lots of totally harmless creatures. …lmao, I feel like a rich asshole saying all that - way too many demands. (sorry sea/ocean, I love you, but you freak me the fuck out)
15. dogs or cats?
I have dogs, but I love both. With dogs, the love is more likely to be returned though :D
16. clear skies or rain?
clear night skies for star gazing, rain during the day
17. cooking or eating out?
I eat mostly raw vegan nowadays, because it’s healthy I don’t have the energy to cook and can’t be arsed and I’m not too fond of eating in public so… preparing/eating food at home?
18. spicy food or mild food?
all the spices lol
19. halloween/samhain or solstice/yule/christmas?
How is this a question, have you met me? My whole existence basically revolves around celebrating Halloween like every day
20. would you rather forever be a little too cold or a little too hot?
The first one is way better imho, I’m usually a little too cold anyway (no pun intended omg) and I’m fine with that.
21. if you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Hydrokinesis (so basically I’d be a water bender ehehe) or Telepathy
22. animation or live action?
both are great (with the exception of some anime adaptations lol)
23. baths or showers?
showers don’t take too long, but baths are very nice from time to time
24. team cap or team ironman?
Team Loki, duh! No, but honestly, I’m not really invested in the whole civil war thing, but if cap is a nazi, then I’m team ironman
25. fantasy or sci-fi?
both are amazing and bring happiness into my life
26. do you have three or four favourite quotes, if so, what are they?
I guess I have a lot of favourite ones, but these two came to my mind right now: “I do desire we may be strangers” (Shakespeare) it’s such a classy and eloquent way to tell someone you hate them :D “And so being young and dipped in folly, I fell in love with melancholy” (E.A. Poe) because ME tbh
27. youtube or netflix?
Youtube, no netflix here
28. harry potter or percy jackson?
Harry Potter all the way. I’ve read the first Percy jackson pentalogy and don’t get me wrong, Greek mythology is awesome, but wizards over demigods
29. when do you feel accomplished?
Idk, when I’m able to do more than the bare minimum and when I totally Tony Stark the whole subject/study material the night before the exam. and probably smug/petty rather than accomplished - when I prove horrible people/people I don’t like wrong or do things they don’t approve of lol
30. star wars or star trek?
I have to say Star Trek but I love both
31. paperback or hardback books?
Hardback. HARDBACK!
32. horror or rom-com?
I’ve always gravitated towards horror - psychological, gothic, really bad b/c movie style, etc. - I get bored by rom-coms
33. tv shows or movies?
depends, but both. as an aspiring actor, beside theatre, I think I’d like to work on films over tv shows - if I ever get the chance to do so that is
34. favourite animal?
penguins, rats, corvids.. but like, birds in general and all animals are awesome anyway and precious and worth of life 35. favourite genre of music? alternative rock - which is a broad spectrum tho, so I guess rock sub-genres in general.. art rock, goth rock, punk rock my favourite (purely because of the name) is krautrock (aka kosmische Musik) which is the German term for space rock, but the literal translation is either herb or cabbage rock lmao :D throw in some psychedelic stuff, ambient music, experimental and classical and I’m good to go
36. least favourite book?
Madame Bovary. I think The Great Gatsby was boring too. I don’t usually read books without researching it a bit before so I can somewhat predict whether I’ll like it or not. (btw, if you’re into fantasy at all, 10/10 recommend reading the series A Raven’s Shadow by Anthony Ryan, he’s such an eloquent writer and the plot and characters are incredible! 37. favourite season? The season of Halloween - autumn all the way
38. song that’s currently stuck in your head?
Cinnamon Bone by Eliza Rickman. She has a really nice voice and combined with the melody it sounds very unique. Actually didn’t know who the singer was until a few days ago. She also performed in the weather section in a Welcome to Night Vale episode. Oh and I rewatched CATS the musical on Sunday, so like.. the whole libretto is playing in my head on loop :D I’ve pretty much known the entire thing by heart since I was like 8 lol
39. what kind of pyjamas do you wear?
Either boxer shorts or Levi Ackerman’s running titan pyjamas lmao
40. how many existential crises do you have on an average day?
I’m having an ongoing one since the age of 16 tbh
41. if you can only choose one song to be played at your funeral, what would it be?
Space Oddity by David Bowie
42. favourite theme song to a TV show?
I’ve know this song before I started watching the show, but Far from Any Road from True Detective is amazing. And the opening to snk season 2 lol, it gets me all fired up and ready to salivate every time Levi appears cry probably idk :D
43. harry potter movies or books?
even though, they are problematic in some aspects, both have their charm (pun absolutely intended this time)
44. you can make your OTP become canon but you’ll forget that tumblr exists. will you do it?
Bitch, my otp is canon. and I doubt anyone can really forget about tumblr - you can try and leave, but it will never leave you
45. do you play an instrument and if so, what is it?
Not like professionally or since early childhood and all that, but I taught myself how to play the violin and I think I’m pretty decent. Same goes for drums. My dad and I low-key collect musical instruments, I think we have around 20+ pieces ^^
46. what is the worst way to die?
alone and helpless and in excruciating pain from whatever the cause was that didn’t kill you immediately though, so you have to suffer
47. if you could be entirely invisible for a day, what would you do?
Be sneaky ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) lol idk, I’d do stuff anxiety and self-consciousness prevent me from in normal life. Okay, that is so pathetic, but my first thought was “I’d go swimming” … *wipes away a tear*
48. If you could have personally witnessed anything in history what would it be?
I feel like it’s kinda selfish and considering I’d choose this out of any moment in history maybe a wasted opportunity? but I would have loved to see David Bowie perform. Idk, I’m sure there’s more, but it’s 3am here..
49. If you could understand animals but you could never understand humans again, would you?
I find I often don’t understand humans anyway..
50. What is your most favourite album currently?
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars by David Bowie is my go to favourite album, haven’t really listened to whole albums lately, just a few songs here and there 51. (my question) What is your favourite word/phrase/colloquiallism? Name one (or more) per language you speak c:
tbh, Jeremy tagged most of the people I’d tag too, so I’m just adding @the-river-dream-shore and @slecnaztemnot to this if they or anyone else feel like it ;) I’m going to sleep now hopefully~
Note: Wow, that’s a lot of reading material lol. Why did I sound so angry?? I was tired, so that took a toll on my answers, I promise I’m not that much of an asshole :D

Open Heaven 29 September 2018: [Saturday] Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Selfishly Prosperous
 SELFISHLY PROSPEROUS – Saturday September 29th 2018
Memorise: He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse. Proverbs 28:27
Read: Luke 16:19-26 (KJV)
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Bible in one year: Isaiah 16-19, Mark 14:53-15:5, Hymnal: Sing hymn 4
Message:-
It is a dangerous thing to be selfishly prosperous, because Proverbs 11:26 says:
“He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.”
This scripture is a warming to those who hoard goods that are meant for sale in order to make inordinate profit. The Bible says such people are under a divine curse. You better desist from such acts if you are one of them. Instead of giving out to the needy, some so-called rich people would rather allow their excess loaves of bread and cans of milk go stale and sour, and end up in the waste dump.
The rich man in today’s Bible text is a typical example of people who are selfishly prosperous. Luke 16:21 tells of how he related with Lazarus, saying:
“And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.”
If the rich man had been alive to his responsibility as a custodian of God’s blessings, Lazarus would have been fed daily with the excess from his table. Instead, he was not mindful of Lazarus’ sufferings. Apart from the lack of food in the midst of plenty, dogs also came and licked Lazarus’ sores!  Why was it dogs attending to Lazarus and not the medical personnel in the service of the rich man? The rich man was indeed selfishly prosperous. Proverbs 19:17 says:
“He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.”
No wonder this rich man had to experience begging and agony in the afterlife. Beloved, know that the purpose of God’s blessings upon your life is to be His divine treasurer, and one of your mandate is to help the needy around you. He will bless you the more when you realise this and fulfil your mandate.
The story was told of rich philanthropist who helped to educate the child of a poor peasant labourer. This child later went on to invent a drug that saved the life of the grandchild of this philanthropist. The philanthropist was rich and generous. This is a very good combination. He would have lost his grandchild but for the drug invented by a child he helped to educate. An adage says “one good turn deserves another.” When you pray for divine prosperity, ensure you know what you are asking for. You may not get it if you will selfish with God’s provision in your life.
Prayer Point:
Father, please bless me and use me to meet the needs of Your Kingdom, in Jesus Name.

TRUST AND OBEY
When we walk with the Lord in
the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our
way!
While we do His good will, He
abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and
obey.
  Chorus
Trust and obey, for there’s no other
Way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust
and obey.
Not a shadow can rise, not a
cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it
away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh
or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and
obey.
Not a burden we bear, not a
sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly
repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown
or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and
obey.
But we never can prove the
delights of His love
Until all on the alter we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the
Joy He bestows,
Are from them who will trust and
obey.
  Then in fellowship sweet we
will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the
way;
What He says we will do, where
He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Quote
Science! true daughter of Old Time thou art!   Who alterest all things with thy peering eyes. Why preyest thou thus upon the poet’s heart,   Vulture, whose wings are dull realities? How should he love thee? or how deem thee wise,   Who wouldst not leave him in his wandering To seek for treasure in the jewelled skies,   Albeit he soared with an undaunted wing? Hast thou not dragged Diana from her car,   And driven the Hamadryad from the wood To seek a shelter in some happier star?   Hast thou not torn the Naiad from her flood, The Elfin from the green grass, and from me The summer dream beneath the tamarind tree?
Edgar Allan Poe, Sonnet - To science
This is one of the early works of E.A. Poe (published in 1829) and it speaks to me on a personal level. I realize that in midst of industrial revolution Poe is somewhat mocking science and refusing it because it destroys all beauty of the mystery and mystical world. And that is exactly what science does. It does not leave you in doubt, it answers questions rather than create them. And for me, in a way, it makes us see beauty a bit differently and look for it in perhaps more unusual places than jewelled skies.

Open Heaven 22 September 2018: [Saturday] Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Orderliness and Godliness
ORDERLINESS AND GODLINESS – Saturday September 22nd 2018
Memorise: For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: Titus 1:5
Read: Exodus 40:1-10 (KJV)
1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.
3 And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and cover the ark with the vail.
4 And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are to be set in order upon it; and thou shalt bring in the candlestick, and light the lamps thereof.
5 And thou shalt set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the hanging of the door to the tabernacle.
6 And thou shalt set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.
7 And thou shalt set the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and shalt put water therein.
8 And thou shalt set up the court round about, and hang up the hanging at the court gate.
9 And thou shalt take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is therein, and shalt hallow it, and all the vessels thereof: and it shall be holy.
10 And thou shalt anoint the altar of the burnt offering, and all his vessels, and sanctify the altar: and it shall be an altar most holy.
Read: Matthew 3:13-15 (KJV)
13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
Bible in one year: Song of Solomon 1-4, Mark 11:20-12:12, Hymnal: Sing hymn 4
Message:-
Our God is a God of order. To walk in godliness, orderliness is very important. As a matter of fact, you cannot be holy if you are not orderly, because it takes obedience to be orderly. Contrary to the opinion of some Pentecostal zealots, God cherishes orderliness. But for the grace and mercy of God, disorderliness would have killed many so-called children of God and ministers of the gospel. Orderliness was so important to God that He instructed Moses on how to conduct His sanctuary in the wilderness, as seen in today’s Bible reading. When two of Aaron’s sons, who were priests in their own right, introduced disorderliness in the sanctuary, they both died at the altar of God. Numbers 3:4 say:
“And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange fire before the LORD, in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no children: and Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest’s office in the sight of Aaron their father.”
Similarly, when King Saul usurped Samuel’s role by offering sacrifice unto the Lord, he was damned for it because he broke divine protocol. According to 1st Samuel 13:10 & 13:
“And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering he burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him. And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.”
King Saul lost his throne because of his lack of respect for heaven’s order. Beloved, when it comes to spiritual matters, be wary of breaking protocol; it may cost you more than you can ever imagine. I love the spirit in Aaron and Ur, associates of Moses who assisted his intercession during the battle with the Amalekites. Narrating their service, Exodus 17:12 says:
“But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.”
Aaron and Hur understand divine protocol. They knew that the only hands recognised by heaven in this project were Moses’ hands. Instead of raising their own hands when Moses’ hands became tired, they helped to stay the hands they needed to be raised, and the victory was won. Commit today to respecting and observing orderliness in every area of life.
Prayer Point
Father, please instil in me today the spirit of orderliness, and grant me grace to continue to do things according to Your specifications.

Open Heaven 13 September 2018: [Thursday] Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A.- Wise but Foolish
WISE BUT FOOLISH – Thursday September 13th 2018
Memorise: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 1st Corinthians 1:27
Read: Isaiah 35:4-10 (KJV)
4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
7 And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.
9 No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there:
10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
Bible in one year: Proverbs 13-15, Mark 6:53-7:23, Hymnal: Sing hymn 4
Message:-
When you expound the things of God to the “wise men” of this world, they will consider you to be a fool. When you talk about the resurrection of the dead and the outcome of Jesus’ death and resurrection, they will use their limited knowledge of the natural world to demonstrate your “foolishness”. It is ironic that those who profess themselves to be wise in this world are declared to be fools before God (Romans 1:22). As a believer in Christ, you should therefore not be offended if you are classified as foolish by the “wise men” of this world. Based on the words of our memory verse, if the world considers you to be foolish because your life is based on the principles of God’s word, you are blessed indeed. Remember that the devil came to our first parents disguised as a loving guidance counsellor. He advised them to follow his diabolical wisdom, and this led them into a state of foolishness. They realised belatedly that the wisdom the devil was introducing them to was actually foolishness in disguise, and ever since then, the wisdom that fills the hearts of men is the perverted  wisdom of the devil, otherwise known as craftiness (1st Corinthians 3:19). This manifests as wisdom to cheat and get ahead of a neighbour, wisdom to defraud the government, wisdom to pervert the course of justice and wisdom to do diabolical things. In contrast to this, the wisdom of God cries out in proverbs 8:5-8 saying:
“O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things. for my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing forward or perverse in them.”
This scripture reveals the nature and character of godly wisdom. You will observe that these characteristics are in direct opposition to what the children of this world consider as wisdom. Any wisdom that does not cut corners is considered foolishness by the children of this world. What they consider to be wisdom leads to both earthly and eternal perdition. A good example of the wisdom of this world is what Absalom exhibited against his father. The Bible says he stole the heart of an entire nation away from his father the king (2nd Samuel 15:6). This is the way of the world. In contrast to such ways, today’s Bible reading speaks of the highway of holiness, through which the unclean shall not pass. It is equally interesting to read that although those passing through it may be considered fools by the world’s standard, they shall not go wrong in it (Isaiah 35:8). They will not err, because their Guide is the Lord of hosts (John 14:6). Beloved, do you seek wisdom? Do you want to be wise in things pertaining to godliness? The way to profitable wisdom is the fear of the Lord, and Jesus Christ is that wisdom that you need.
Prayer Point:
Father, please let the character of your wisdom begin to manifest in my life, in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 5 September 2018: [Wednesday] Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye Save Yourself From Shame!
SAVE YOURSELF FROM SHAME! - Wednesday September 5th 2018
Memorise: Let pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years. Genesis 41:34
Read: Genesis 27:1-10 (KJV)
1 And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.
2 And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death:
3 Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison;
4 And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die.
5 And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it.
6 And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,
7 Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the Lord before my death.
8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.
9 Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth:
10 And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.
Bible in one year: Psalm 119, Mark 2:18-3:6, Hymnal: Sing hymn 4
Message
The story of Esau and Jacob in today’s Bible reading contains a salient lesson we are often oblivious to. Not only was Esau irrational in his disposition to life in his younger days, he was also not prudent enough. I believe he eventually learnt his lesson, even though he learnt it the hard way. It takes prudence to become so rich that you have 400 bodyguards. The level of wealth Esau displayed at his reconciliatory meeting with Jacob also point to a life of prudence (Genesis 32:6; Genesis 33:8-9). However, the salient lesson I want you to be mindful of today is that Esau had no reservoir to meat. If Esau had been preserving his meat for ready-to-cook use, he would not have needed to go so far before preparing his father’s favourite meal. While he was living from hand to mouth, his brother had enough in his flock to spare in case of emergencies, such as the need which arose on that fateful day. Esau was not saving for the rainy day; he usually went to the field to fetch venison as the need arose. Unfortunately, his lifestyle of not saving enough made him susceptible to the tricks of his brother and mother. It is very important that children of God learn how to prudently conserve God’s blessing in their lives. Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us these principles in the miracle of the feeding of the multitude with 5 loaves of bread and two fish. John 6:12-13 says
“When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.”
This is also why the Bible enjoins us to learn from the ant. Not only is it hardworking, it also knows how to conserve for the future. Speaking on this important truth, Proverbs 6:6-8 says:
“Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.”
Its so amazing that the ant will not eat its winter food in summer! Remember that the prodigal son spent all he had in the time of plenty and was later in want in the time of famine (Luke 15:14). Joseph’s principle of conservation in the time of plenty saved the whole middle-eastern region from terrible famine (Genesis 41:33-36). Beloved, do not get swept off by the system of the world which encourages spending, even on credit, and discourages savings. Learn to save for the rainy day.
Action Point
In order to save yourself the embarrassment of borrowing in the time of scarcity, draw up a course of action to continually save and prudently save and prudently invest some of your earnings.

Open Heaven 4 September 2018: [Tuesday] Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye - Be Swift in Your Business
BE SWIFT IN YOUR BUSINESS – Tuesday September 4th 2018
Memorise: Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Romans 12:11
Read: 1st Samuel 17:48-51 (KJV)
48 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.
51 Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.
Bible in one year: Psalm 111-118, Mark 2:1-17, Hymnal: Sing hymn 4
When you critically study the life of our Lord, you will observe that He was a man swiftly went about accomplishing His mission (John 9:4). He went in such a hurry to finish His task (Matthew 17:17). Amazingly, the everlasting impact He made took just three and a half years to accomplish. If you want to be like your Master indeed, I encourage you to be diligent, not only in your service to God in the Church, but also in your job or business. Our Father in heaven is not slothful in carrying our His assignments. Speaking about the Father’s work ethic, Jesus in John 5:17b said:
“My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.”
The Holy Spirit admonition on our expected work standard in today’s memory verse is profound because it captures the three aspects of our being: body, soul and spirit. Our Christian experience must affect these three dimensions of our lives before we can say we are living according to God’s will for us. Physically, we must be industrious in our day to day activities. Don’t be deceived into believing that once you are born again, manna will begin to fall from heaven to sustain you. Remember that the rain of manna stopped immediately the children of Israel entered the Promised Land. They had to settle down to cultivate the land for a bumper harvest from God. However, pursuing your physical activities with vigour should not come at the expense of your spiritual life. in this regard, always have the words of Deuteronomy 8:18 at the back of your mind:
“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”
You need to learn some great lessons from David’s attitude in swiftly doing the needful in order to triumph over Goliath in today’s Bible reading. Beyond the fact that he was fervent in spirit, he was also physically alert in getting his job done. He did not allow the battle to meeting him standing still. 1st Samuel 17:48 tells us what he did:
“And it came  to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.”
He quickly took the battle to the enemy on his own terms. The story gets even more interesting after Goliath fell. Observing that Goliath might have been knocked unconscious or might be feigning death, David ran to where he fell, climbed over him and cut off his head with Goliath’s own sword, putting an end to any hope of his resurgence. I prophesy over you today that your enemies will be totally decapitated and you will have complete peace in Jesus’ Name.
Prayer Point
Father, to the glory of Your Name, please quicken my body, soul and spirit to be swift and diligent in all my assignment in life, in Jesus’ Name.
