@demonicrosebushsims is currently looking for occult sims to befriend her gen 11 heir so here I am, introducing Anwuli Obi, a young vampire, auditionning for the role of one of Saiya’s friends!
She’s a real ball of energy, always ready to party all night long or explore dangerous places (which has brought its share of troubles!). She’s a young vampire so she doesn’t know much about being one but has managed to keep out of trouble until now. She’s now looking to make some occult friends to try and understand herself better and learn more about her powers.
Name: Anwuli Obi (means Happy Heart in Igbo (Nigerian language)) Age: 26 when turned / has been a vampire for about 10 years Gender and Pronouns: female / she/her Sexuality: bisexual Traits: cheerful, adventurous, outgoing Back Story: Anwuli has always been a daredevil, getting in all sorts of trouble since she was a kid. In university (where she studied communications), she joined a group of urban explorers and started visiting abandonned places all around the country. She eventually got a little too cocky, went exploring on her own and got into an accident. She woke up a week later, cold and thirsty, her head spinning and eyes burning from the sunlight. It was only after a few hours that she realised she had turned into a vampire. Having so memories of the accident, and being her usual happy-go-lucky self, she decided that it was no big deal and went back to living as if nothing had happen, feeding carefully on unsuspecting sims while trying to maintain a low profile. This went on for a little while but she’s now realising that there might be a little more to her condition than just drinking blood - being complimented for her youthful appearance is great, but sims around her are starting to get a little suspicious! She’s now looking for anyone that could help her understand her condition, be it regular sims with esoteric knowledge or other vampires like herself.
I didn’t use CC clothes so her files aren’t too big, I can share her tray files with all CC included!

I wanted to take a brief pause after VII, just to talk about hallmarks of Dragon Quest as a series. Because we are leaving the era where these games are a driving force in developing the JRPG genre. Like...I know when I do the final ranking I'm going to put II much higher than most. Because I earnestly feel II is one of those very special games that developed so many things that became ubiquitous you take it for granted. This does not mean VIII, IX, and XI are bad by any stretch. I'd compare it to The Simpsons; your purpose has changed in a world full of imitators. What was revolutionary is not comforting and timeless.
Sadly this does mean we'll lose a few elements that didn't translate into the next generation. Eventually the designers behind the series started following norms competitors innovated. So before we go on to VIII and it's massive legacy, a few favorite hallmarks I didn't get to cover:
One of the most iconic features here since the first that's just as fun in XI. Metal Slimes. So many have tried this and none work as well as the original. Rare version of a weak enemy that nets massive experience. The catch? They're quick to flee and while they have only 3-4 HP their defense is maxed out. Enough you might do 1 damage on a hit. Then later games introduce different, stronger varieties. If you need to grind, the metal slime family always feels like a fun little mini-game to shorten it. And the developers are smart about where their hotspots are usually. If you see one in a new area, it's worth it to try and bag a few first pass.
Dungeon Philosophy. I hate this has fallen by the wayside in favor of following Final Fantasy's style. Early on, you had to approach dungeons like an old school D&D module. You're not doing it first try. It's all part of the fun baked into what happens on a loss. You just go back to the last King/Priest you saved at and lose half your money. The dungeons are designed around this, if it's a tower you can just hop off and go back to town. But you'll have to make a few runs at the labyrinth to figure everything out and learn the optimal path. Especially with...
Random encounters having some teeth to them. This has diminished over time but game design in general has gotten easier so I don't fault DQ for it. But in those early ones, yeah random encounters can be brutal. You need to consider spells like sleep or fog that'll spare you some hits cheaply. If you flee and fail you lose a turn like a lot of RPGs but not every monster will go so it's more viable sometimes. All together, simple but tight design. A dungeon in early Dragon Quest feels like a real challenge of balancing resources like MP. This is why I love III so much, the class system plus peak design philosophy makes everything work so well as a total package. Your party comp will determine which parts are hard or easy.
Decisions on equipment. This is subtle but very cool in practice. Unlike a lot of JRPGs, in these early Dragon Quest games you're going to have to grind a lot to get every new piece of equipment you can buy immediately. Which will feel even worse if something is rendered obsolete with a dungeon treasure. You're not expected to. When you first get to town you decide what felt like it needed to be bolstered the most, then go on and start taking on the dungeon expecting to need a few trips. When you're ready to leave, decide if you want to polish it off here or try your luck with a headstart on the next town. Later games have replaced this with a crafting element I like, so it's more of a lateral move.

Atari 2600 Chronicles 1980 #1 - Adventure
Let's do a quick switcheroo here. Although Space Invaders seems to have a confirmed release date and Adventure does not, both appear to be from March 1980 and I actually had the chance to play the one earlier in the alphabet on my shiny new Atari 2600+! So do forgive my slight skewing of the chronology here.
Believe me, this system feels like magic in breathing new lives into these old as shit games. Yeah, playing them in a big meaty compilation is still nice and probably controls better in some cases, but nothing beats slamming in a cart, then using the original joystick and levers. You can really feel yourself fit into the mind of someone playing this system in the early 1980s.
As for the game itself? I have conflicting feelings. On one hand, it's a revolution. The ability to reset the game after being 'eaten' by a dragon/duck/abomination and for the progress to be retained after that is incredibly welcomed. I enjoy the puzzle solving aspect of it, very much too. Took me a good half hour to get the route of the full game figured out, and I can't deny and say I wanted more of it.
Then there's also the first BIG easter egg in gaming, the Warren Robinett credit that you get if you poke your head around in the Black Castle and find the tiny gray dot, essentially the final dungeon of the adventure. If you combine that with the randomized mode that comes included with the cart, you could get quite a lot of mileage out of speedrunning this one or challenging yourself via, for example, not using the sword or trying to go deathless.
That is a big *if* however. If you don't make up your own things to do, the randomized mode is all you have. And that one gets old dramatically fast. The bat-stealing-objects-mechanic is the prime example of a headache to me, but the worst part has to be continually going back into the painfully flickering zones this game contains. Whenever you get unlucky with the object spawns, get ready for your eyes to get gauged out!
I liked but didn't love Adventure. For everything it does right, there's another thing that makes it a hard sell. Good thing you can essentially sneeze this game up nowadays.
The Verdict
Graphics (3): Agh, yikes. I will compliment how well the game manages to articulate the extremely simple visuals via it's manual and worth of mouth. What happens on the screen however is crummy to the highest degree. Nothing more primitive than playing as a shape, using an arrow as a sword, while a derpy-looking bath toy hunts you down. The game world is hardly imaginative, the most sucked in I got was the feeling of actually being inside the castles in the first 3 seconds after entering. And i'll insist, the dark zones get so crowded sometimes that the screen flashes heavily and the game slows down! No offense to the legacy of the title, but the level of compensation to fit it on the cart was absolutely too much this time around.
Sound (6): The sounds that are there? Pretty fun. The sounds that aren't? Too plentiful to count. Most of the time, you're walking through silence. Only when there's action on the screen, like say, fighting a dragon, you get graced with some wackiness. Wouldn't have hurt to have a quiet walking noise in there, or even an attempt at music. Unfortunate that it gets bogged down like that, I cherish what was included.
Fun Factor (7): There's some fun left in the tank of this one. I played it largely blind other than knowing that there was that one easter egg of yore and having some bits and pieces of Youtube videos etched in my mind. The way the light exploration clicked in my head was worthwhile as all hell for someone who rarely plays 'complex' titles. Found myself happily surprised whenever I would see a new object or figured out a fast route to one of the castles, refreshing to have that element in there in such an early game.
Comes at a cost though. Once you're near the end game, and the bat has swapped around all your objects, it's exceptionally frustrating to have to go find them over and over again. The dragons start getting increasingly agressive too- the chalice seems to pull in the red one in particular. Pushing the reset button over and then get the enemy stuck in a place where it will kill ya nearly instant is still something I don't like 43 years later in a game like Minecraft. It gets worse in the randomized mode, once got all 3 dragons in the same place (a dark area, no less). Became so unplayable after that I quit then and there.
Yeah, mixed feelings!
Longevity (7): Enjoyment may vary. Either you wanna keep playing this after one finish in the second mode... or ya don't. I see myself popping this one on once or twice in the future. Having a randomized mode, flawed as it is, is very novel. In the 80s, this would've been like a 9/10 for that reason and the discovery of the easter egg some time later. Say it with me now, 'it's good compilation fodder'.
In Conclusion

Recently I've started a weird combination of The Forgotten Realms Challenge and Dungeons and Dragons Legacy Challenge. Created my legacy founder, Alanah the Bard (thank you, @plazasims and @simverses, for outfit pieces for my girl).
And it went really well, up to the point that it feels the same like playing smuggler in SWtOR (with a lot of sex, what I mean).
Going to post some screenshots a bit later.

"It's my name on the line."
original fiction (dungeons & dragons)
word count: 562
By now, Kassandra was used to bickering with her mother. It was the only time she felt like she had her full attention, when she wasn’t telling Katharina to tutor her or telling Kaleb and Klaud to listen to their sister.
This fight, though, was the last one they’d have for a long time.
“I don’t think you truly understand how important this position is, Kassandra,” her mother was saying. “I can’t have you coming with me unless I know you’ll behave.”
“Behave?” Kassandra scoffed. “You’re asking me to pretend to be someone else.”
“I’m not asking that. Just don’t spread any of your nonsense, please. No cards, no trying to tell the future-”
“Then what is our job?”
Her mother sighed. “It’s my name on the line, Kassandra. Our name. We earned the name Stjerne for a reason.”
It always came down to this. Her mother would never, never agree with her. When Killian had turned away from the family legacy to embrace another circle, her mother had welcomed it. But when Kassandra wanted to honor things different, that was when things went bad.
“I know, Mother. I studied the stars. Katharina knows that I know my stuff.”
At the mention of her name, her older sister glanced up. Katharina rarely stepped in, not wanting to challenge their mother’s authority. That time was no different.
“Yes, Kassandra. But your methods… any veering from tradition is frowned upon. We stick to our star maps. Not… silly cards.”
It wasn’t the first time she’d heard it, and certainly not the first time from her mother. But Kassandra stood up from where she’d been sitting on the couch as she got lectured at. Although her height would have been intimidating to anyone who wasn’t a Goliath, her mother still had a few inches on her. “I’ve earned my tattoos. What can they do, take them away?” she asked.
“Kassandra, please.”
“Fine. Go without me. But I might not be here when you come back.”
She turned to head to the room she shared with Killian. But as she stepped into the hall, she felt Katharina’s hand on her shoulder.
“Please, don’t tell me you’re actually thinking about going,” she said.
“I’m old enough,” Kassandra said. “I’ve been saving up money, I can make it on my own.”
“It’s just one fight-” Katharina started to say.
“It’s never one fight!” She cleared her throat, moving her sister’s hand. “We’re just clearly too different. I have to find my own ways. I have to… I’ll actually go help people out there. And then she’ll see.”
“If you stay until we return from the summit, things will cool off.”
Kassandra sighed. “For how long?”
She opened her mouth to say something, but Katharina back at their mother, still fuming in the other room. “If you do leave… keep in touch. Please.”
“I’ll try.”
Her room was empty when she stepped inside and started to gather her things. She grabbed her old star maps, her cloaks, but paused over her journal.
The first page had her name written in her neatest lettering - Kassandra Stjerne. But she grabbed a quill off her desk and crossed it out, leaving a new name in its place: Cassandra.
Her mother had thought her name was on the line, but if their name was so fragile, Cassandra could leave it behind as well.

Behind the Paywall: Dragon’s Dogma’s Test
In the gaming world’s buzzing heart, a lively debate unfolds around “Dragon’s Dogma 2” – a world filled with breathtaking landscapes and shadowy dungeons. As gamers gear up, swords in hand and magic at their fingertips, a big question arises: Should all the rich content this game promises be part of the initial buy-in, or should it sneak up in additional purchases down the line?
The Adventure Kicks Off
Our story begins in Gransys, the vibrant setting of “Dragon’s Dogma 2.” Building on its predecessor, this sequel isn’t just about confronting dragons and exploring the unknown; it’s an invitation to embark on a journey that stretches the limits of imagination and gaming skills. Yet, there’s a bit of a cloud looming – the trend of slicing games into paid chunks threatens to cast a shadow over the excitement for this much-loved series.
A World of Differences
The Call to Adventure
“Dragon’s Dogma 2” unfolds a world rich in detail and mystery, where players aren’t just passing through. They’re carving out their legacy, with every choice and action sculpting the world around them. With its deep gameplay mechanics and compelling narrative, the game is a blank canvas for epic tales.
The Cost of Discovery
Conversely, the move toward paid extras divides the game into segments, holding back essential experiences that, some argue, should be part of the primary purchase. This growing trend in gaming sparks debates over value and access – where do we draw the line between enhancing a game and breaking it apart?
At a Crossroads
The gaming community finds itself at a fork in the road, torn between nostalgia for complete gaming experiences and the modern view of paid content as a lifeline for games post-launch. Some players long for the days when buying a game meant unlocking every adventure it held within. Others argue that paid content keeps the game evolving and supports the developers after the initial release.
Striking a Balance
At the heart of this discussion is the challenge of striking a fair balance that respects both the developers’ hard work and the gamers’ investments. Dragon’s Dogma 2 stands as a battleground for this debate, its richly imagined world highlighting both gaming’s incredible potential and the industry’s current dilemmas.
In Conclusion: On the Quest for Equilibrium
As “Dragon’s Dogma 2” makes its debut, it carries with it the collective hopes and worries of its fanbase. The dilemma over paid content prompts us to examine what we truly value in our gaming experiences. Will we lean towards a more inclusive and complete world, or does the future hold more behind-the-scenes adventures, only accessible at a price? Only time will unveil the actual cost of our quests in this saga of dragons, magic, and the price of progress.

My OCS: Kapral Tepes
Creation Source: Dungeons and Dragons
Background:
Kapral is a menacing creature, both in power and intellect. After years of fighting in Arenas as a Gladiator, emptying them of their combatants. His strength and finesse attracted the attention of local "Blood Hunters" a select group of warriors who set themselves against the monstrosities that threaten humanity.
During his travels he was paired with Elyse, a Valenar Elf, to uncover a military-class incursion. Rumors had spread that the soldiers were seen drinking blood after their last battle, so naturally as the Sergeant it was her job to investigate; carfully.
During the night they snuck into the barracks and were ambushed by the monsters who had killed the unturned soldiers in their sleep. Before anything could be done one of the turned dug their claws deep into Kaprals flesh, casting a dark spell into his very bones.
Elyse fought like a whirlwind, reducing the attacker to chunks with swift motion. Trying to quickly recover, Kapral covered her with hailing firebolts. Their combined force managed to render the undead pretty re-dead.
As for the aftermath, Elyse was relieved of duty, for allowing her whole unit to be compromised. She stayed with Kapral until he healed, the scars healed but his soul had been cursed with an undeathly hunger. But she stayed by his side for the years to come, and even had their son, Sylin
Dhampirism, a horrid affliction that causes a deep thirst for blood. He did what he could to hide it, even from Elyse but when she found out she did what she could.
But it wasnt enough, sooner than later word had gotten back to the Blood Hunters. One night, believing he was inside they came and barricaded his home from the outside before setting it ablaze. Kapral was away at this time, but his wife and son were still asleep inside..
Kapral returned to his home in ruins, there was nothing left to save. His blood boiled, hotter than any fire the mind could understand, fueled by rage and thirst for vengence.
He went on a monsterous rampage, slaying any who dared show themselves. He unleashed his wrath upon the village, his Blood Hunter magic conflicting with his Dhampirsm, he became a strange creature, more akin to a were-beast.
After his bloodlust was satiated he left town, lying low while traveling between villages. His heart ached for the loss of both his familys, both blood and brotherhood. He swore vengence on his former order for the death of his Wife and Son, but he would need time..
During this time he gets a Mysterious Note inviting him to a nearby town for a meeting, someone needing "Heros to fufill a legacy" type....
"Why not?"
Equipment:
Double-Bladed Scimitar:
Two Handed, Special Weapon
The double-bladed scimitar is the signature weapon of Valenar elves. A haft of fine wood supports a long, curving blade on either end. Forged with techniques honed over centuries, these blades are strong, sharp, and remarkably light. Each scimitar is a masterpiece, and as a result the double-bladed scimitar is an expensive weapon — few though ever have the opportunity to purchase one. A Valenar blade in the hands of a non-elf is generally assumed to have been stolen or looted from a fallen foe, and a Valenar elf might feel entitled to demand its return or challenge the bearer to prove they’re worthy to wield it.
Special: If you attack with a double-bladed scimitar as part of the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action immediately after to make a melee attack with it. This attack deals 1d4 slashing damage on a hit, instead of 2d4.
Spiked Armor:
Medium Armor
Spiked armor is a rare type of medium armor made by dwarves. It consists of a leather coat and leggings covered with spikes that are usually made of metal.
Tan Bag of Tricks:
Wonderous Uncommon Item
You can use an action to pull the fuzzy object from the bag and throw it up to 20 feet. When the object lands, it transforms into a creature you determine by rolling a d8 and consulting the table that corresponds to the bag's color. See the Monsters Listing for the creature's statistics. The creature vanishes at the next dawn or when it is reduced to 0 hit points.
The creature is friendly to you and your companions, and it acts on your turn. You can use a bonus action to command how the creature moves and what action it takes on its next turn, or to give it general orders, such as to attack your enemies. In the absence of such orders, the creature acts in a fashion appropriate to its nature.
Once three fuzzy objects have been pulled from the bag, the bag can't be used again until the next dawn.
Ring of Water Walking:
Uncommon Ring
While wearing this ring, you can stand on and move across any liquid surface as if it were solid ground.
Ring of Mind Shielding:
Uncommon Atunment Ring
While wearing this ring, you are immune to magic that allows other creatures to read your thoughts, determine whether you are lying, know your alignment, or know your creature type. Creatures can telepathically communicate with you only if you allow it.
If you die while wearing the ring, your soul enters it, unless it already houses a soul. You can remain in the ring or depart for the afterlife. As long as your soul is in the ring, you can telepathically communicate with any creature wearing it. A wearer can't prevent this telepathic communication.
Sending Stones:
Wonderous Uncommon Item
Sending Stones come in pairs, with each smooth stone carved to match the other so the pairing is easily recognized. While you touch one stone, you can use an action to cast the sending spell from it. The target is the bearer of the other stone. If no creature bears the other stone, you know that fact as soon as you use the stone and don't cast the spell.
Once sending is cast through the stones, they can't be used again until the next dawn. If one of the stones in a pair is destroyed, the other one becomes nonmagical.
Misc:
Background:
Gladiator
Class:
Order of The Lycan (Blood Hunter)
Armor:
Light, Medium Armor and Shields
Tools:
Alchemist Supplies, Disguise Kit, Flute
Languages:
Common and Undercommon

As you dive into the virtual world, it's almost like you're sitting around a table playing D&D with your pals. Turn-Based Brilliance Shines Brighter than Baldur's Gate 2
Baldur's Gate 3 is like, totally lit, outshining its OG, Baldur's Gate 2, in so many epic ways. Just like how gamers eagerly search for new opportunities to "buy PS5 games," the turn-based combat system in Baldur's Gate 3 is a masterpiece, offering an exhilarating experience that stands head and shoulders above its predecessor. The dynamic nature of combat takes center stage, where surfaces and objects become strategic assets that players can ingeniously exploit. Reminiscent of the beloved Divinity: Original Sin series by Larian, the player can seamlessly interact with their environment. Sparking up oil slicks, whipping up DIY weapons from what's around, and icing your foes' footing – all of these things make for one heck of a gripping and immersive battle vibe. This whole new level of interaction isn't just fun, it adds some serious tactical flavor too. Gamers can cook up some seriously smart tactics that match their unique way of playing.

One remarkable instance highlights the system's ingenuity: an early confrontation that initially posed a challenge. Through experimentation, the player can relocate an explosive barrel to a bottleneck, dispatching their rogue to divert the attention of foes, while orchestrating a fiery demise using Gale's wizardry. Baldur's Gate 3 is like the ultimate winner, totally outshining its OG ancestor, Baldur's Gate 2, with its insanely awesome turn-based combat skills. The crazy cool dance between you, the world around you, and all the bad guys turns battles into a total work of art. It's like you're in the game, making all these smart moves and getting all wrapped up in the action. Larian Studios is like the brainiac behind this whole thing, blending in Dungeons & Dragons' magic to make the game even more epic and making you feel like you're at a real-life tabletop gaming sesh with your pals.
Tumblr media
As you're diving deep into the unreal universe of Baldur's Gate 3, you'll see how it's not just keeping the OG series vibe alive, but also setting a whole new standard for those RPGs where you take turns. The battles are mega exciting, the choices are endless, and you've got a gazillion chances to go on some rad quests. Baldur's Gate 3 is like a spark that ignites your hunger for more and more adventure and smart moves. This game is like a total boss, shining even brighter than it did before. And as the epic tale of this classic RPG series keeps on rolling, it's obvious that Baldur's Gate 3 is like the start of a new era of mind-blowing gaming, shining like crazy.

#NOT A HERO RE7 REVIEW MOVIE#
The camera work in this movie goes beyond everything we have seen in this form before - with intense imaginary battles becoming the fulcrum of this experience. In animation cinema terms, use of CGI to replicate the anime experience is quite unique.
#NOT A HERO RE7 REVIEW SERIES#
So for newcomers to the franchise, even with existing multiple reboots, the series may seem impenetrable.Īlso Read: ' Where the Crawdads Sing' movie review: Endearing Coming-of-age drama It’s a rather contrived and extremely convoluted set-up of cut-paste plots. Character or back story development is not this film’s strong suit. For those familiar with the series it would suffice to say that the Red Ribbon Army from Goku's past has returned with two new androids to challenge him and his friends. This film presented in a stylized CG/3D look reminiscent of the Dragon Ball action games, focuses on one such adventure. 'Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero' is the current legacy heir using that nostalgic mileage to curry favour with its niche audience. Tiny-tot fans who are familiar with the wonderful world of Son Goku and his super Saiyan friends and family will cotton on well (as adults now) to the characters from Akira Toriyama Universe because for the past 30 years or so this legacy series hasn’t lost its popularity. Most of us in India may be unfamiliar with this world of Japanese animation but the world over has already been witness to the surprising fascination for this kind of specialised artistic 2D animation. This indiscriminate attempt to create another fun ride replicating outrageous battles of coloured characters and their world of bad guys doesn’t quite hit the nail on that head.Īlso Read: 'Nope' movie review: Not quite the humdinger one expected
