been thinking a lot lately about how I'm not convinced Nancy would stay in journalism long term because of the utter frustration she would feel at reporting on things she couldn't get actively involved in or the all-around constrictions of the sort of red tape you run into working at a newspaper or a network or anything and THAT has me thinking about what one (of many) careers she might transition to when she gets fed up with it.

hear me out. Nancy Wheeler the private investigator who gets to use all of those investigative reporting skills, who has a bit more wiggle room to bend the rules, who doesn't have to answer to some higher power for the things she says or does, and who can maybe actually help people in a hands on way.

She can find the people who go missing instead of just reporting when their bodies turn up. She can help people stuck in abusive homes escape their abusers. She can help people who were betrayed by business partners or friends or family get money they need to survive back.

She can find people. She can save them. Before it's too late.

Nancy Wheeler, who lies to cops with a smile and asks forgiveness not permission taking a mystery and running with it? Working just enough outside of the law so people don't have to deal with the police if they come to her instead; working to understand what it looks like when the person she's looking for needs protecting from her client instead of being handed over no questions asked?

Not every case has to end like Barb's. Not everyone left standing has to grieve like Nancy. She can change these people's histories before they become tragedies.

Nancy Wheeler will always be a storyteller, she'll never stop putting pen to paper, but maybe journalism was just not the arena for her to do that in. Maybe it's two different things, the stories she tells and the people she helps.

Maybe she gets to do both if she just finds the right avenues.

Species: Kuda-gitsune (tube fox) Ability: Capable of making any deal sound beneficial

A youkai fox from the outside world. During the Meiji period, while other youkai saw the end of their way of life, Orime saw opportunity, and when whispers of the Great Hakurei Barrier's creation began to spread, she took off to the Outside World to live among humans. As Japan modernized, she took advantage of the rapid growth of business, and made a tidy enough living off of her business partners' ill fortune that she managed to remain a youkai for three-quarters of a century. However, after events in the 20th century, Japan's economy was decimated, and Orime looked for opportunity elsewhere... and where better than the much bigger, much more successful country that had just won the war? Orime bounced between industries, leaving questionable decisions in her wake everywhere she went, but eventually found the right mix of credulity and venture capital in the science and technology sector. However, following a certain incident involving the demise of a very old and very storied company in the early-mid 2010s, she found herself pursued by a terrifying creature called the Securities and Exchange Commission, and fled back to Japan, where her lack of industry connections nearly led to her being forgotten entirely. After practically begging an old mathematician friend of hers for entry, she wormed her way into Gensokyo, and has been causing economic chaos and stalled scientific development (the latter of which youkai find very helpful) since.

Color wheel challenge WIP

I already have a few characters for the blank spots. I'm thinking of adding each color 3 characters. For light blue (cyan), I'll add Sal from Sally Face, Blue is Wally Darling from Welcome Home, Huggy Wuggy from Poppy Playtime, and Shinichi in that Black Knight costume. Pink is Dot, Kissy Missy, and Ran in that princess costume. Green we got, Flippy from HTF, Tricky from Madness Combat, and Buttercup from the OG PowerPuff Girls. And finally purple is Chowder from well...Chowder, LSP from Adventure Times, and a purple crewmate (imposter) from Among Us. I'm kinda pissed off because I CAN'T FUCKING DRAW HUMAN!!!
