Her shrill voice bounced off the walls, and quite frankly made my head hurt. I took a deep breath, clearing my throat and preparing for what was to come. I’d been apart of many screaming matches in my life since Id realized I could fight my mother back - so at minimum 15 years worth of defending myself against a raging narcissist.
“You don’t have to talk to her, my purse is just in there- I need it it has our house keys” I said so just we could hear.
“Where is he! CARMEN ANTHONY. YOU WILL COME SPEAK TO ME I AM YOUR MOTHER!” she shouted. It was clear she was drunk by the way she was speaking and annunciating her words.
“Baby go- go outside, I’m gonna deal with her” he said softly, his hands were shaking.
“I’m not leaving you alone, bear. I promise, I’m not gonna add fuel” I said and took his hand, holding it in mine and squeezing gently. “I love you - and that means we do things together even when they’re hard” I whispered and he nodded, swallowing thickly.
“Donna! Donna sweetheart we should step outside huh? Let’s go, let’s go outside, we'll have a cigarette. The babies are here, you don’t want them to hear this? No?” Jimmy told her, ushering her down the hall towards where we were in the dining room that contained the front door.
When she saw him it was like everything stopped, I felt like I was trapped in a lions den, or a fucking bear cave more like it. “Who is this?” She said, just above a whisper and she looks at me, then our enclasped hands, then Carmen again. “Who the fuck is this, Carmen?” She questioned
“Mom. Mom. Listen-“ I interrupt him because I’d never heard his voice sound so small and scared
“Hi! I’m Winnie?” I said casually. “And- I assume you’re Donna? Right?” I gently rubbed the back of his hand with the pad of my thumb, it felt like I was trying to tame a mountain lion with a smile.
“And what kind of fucking name is Winnie. What the hell is this- a goddamn cartoon? And why are you in my daughters house?” She asked and I maintained my cool, seeing as the whole family pretty much had silently crowded in the hall to watch this go down.
“Oh-“ I cleared my throat, trying to maintain my cool and I held our hands up that were laced together “I’m well acquainted with your son.” I drop them back to our sides “he’s lovely. May I just say you did a wonderful job raising him.” I said and he squeezed my hand tightly
“And I’m here to talk to said son alone. So you can take your cute little carrot top self back wherever you came from and fuck right off missy “ she snapped and I raised my brows, but before I could open my mouth Jimmy stepped in
“Heyyy! Hey hey! Donna- Donna the girl hasn’t done anything wrong come on-“
“Oh shut up jimmy.” She seethed
“MOM!” Carmen snapped, “I’m not fuckin’ doing this” he rose his voice so she could tell he was serious “I’m not. That was it- we’re done we’re leaving good fuckin job- I’m fucking leaving. Syd can you bring Winnie’s fuckin purse please?” He called to her and I saw her shoving through everyone gathered in the hallway to get back into the living room.
“Oh so you’re gonna choose this stupid girl over your own mother? What are you too good for your mother now? Is she- is she some hot shot chef? Oh- no let me guess- she’s a nurse since you messed things up with the Doctor, Claire?” She said and my mouth dropped
“Actually-“ I scoff “I work at a library- your son is the ‘hot shot’ chef. The only one in your family might I add? Donna, you are speaking to everyone horribly right now. Why do you think he wouldn’t want to talk to you when you’re acting like-“ I see her jerk her arm and I am suddenly soaking wet, and my eyes are stinging worse than I’d ever felt in my life. I shrieked, wiping my face furiously and coughing, my lungs burning as the alcoholic drink that had been thrown in my face choked me from when I’d gasped in surprise and inhaled a gulp of it.
“Oh- Donna!” Jimmy said “no- no now you gotta go dear, what’s wrong with you?”
“Someone had to shut her up to stop that annoying little speech she was putting me to sleep” she laughed drunkenly
“Mom what- WHAT THE FUCK?! WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID?! ARE YOU? WHAT IS YOUR FUCKING OBSESSION RUINING EVERYTHING?! THIS IS WHY - THIS- THIS IS WHY I DIDN'T WANT TO SEE YOU- I CAN'T STAND YOU! I CANT FUCKING STAND YOU MOM” Carmy roars.
“Oh my god you crazy bitch” Sadie said angrily. I couldn’t even see what was going on, everything was sticky and wet and it was driving me insane. I was still stuck in a coughing fit as I rubbed my eyes but the stinging was getting worse. The amount of overwhelmed, embarrassment, fear, anger I felt threw me headfirst into a panic attack.
“What did she throw? Oh my god my contacts Sadie - I- I need to take out my contacts” I said gasping and coughing as I felt a hand on my arm guiding me to the kitchen
“I know, I know, shhhh” she coaxed, bringing me over to the sink. “I’m gonna get them out but you have to do me a favor and stay still” she ordered, but I could barely fucking understand her with the pain.
I began sobbing uncontrollably and she turned the sink on “I’m so sorry” I said and we heard crashing coming from the front room
“What? What did she do?! MOM!!!” I heard Natalie shout “MOM THESE ARE BRAND FUCKING NEW CARPETS!! GET HER OUT!!!” She shrieked.
“YOUR FUCKING CARPETS? SHE JUST BLINDED MY FUCKING GIRLFRIEND AND YOU GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THE CARPETS, NAT?! THIS IS ON YOU, YOU’RE THE FUCKING REASON SHES HERE.” Carmy was in a rage. I’d never heard him so angry before.
“Everything e-everything I’m sticking- i’m sticking oh my god Sadie. Everything stings, Sadie. Help me” I cried, “what did I even say why did she do that?” I sobbed, each time I tried to open my eyes I was faced with a searing pain. All of the screaming, the fear of his mother finding me and doing further damage for god knows why, the worry for Carmy and what was happening to him - it was all too much.
“CALL THE FUCKIN’ COPS THIS SHIT IS GETTIN’ TOO FUCKIN OUT OF HAND.” Richie shouted
“I am alreadyyy on it- yup okay- let me just- I can’t hear them! I’m gonna go out there“ I heard Syd say awkwardly
“Open” Sadie said and pried my left eye open, quickly scooping out the contact before doing the same with the right causing me to wince. She had to essentially trap me against the counter and wall so I wouldn't out of instinct slap and kick her for trying to dig in my fucking eyes with her fingers.
“Ok rinse” she said once she managed to get both of the contacts out. I dove for the sink, scrubbing my face over with water, rinsing out my eyes quickly and doing my best to hold them open under the running water despite the burning and uncomfortable stinging.
“G-get Carmen please, please” I said through shaky sobs. I hadn’t even been able to listen to what was going on since Sadie had scooped out my contacts, it was as if she and I were the only people in the house due to all the adrenaline from the pain coursing through my body allowing me to focus on the task at hand the fucking blinding pain.
“Yup ok. Okay I’ll find him” she said and I heard a sharp slap come from the other room
“MOM - MOM!! DID YOU REALLY JUST HIT HIM LIKE THAT! Oh, Carmy- Are you ok? Go- go out of here- go” Natalie shrieks at donna and there’s a loud smashing of glass
“MY PLATES!!! MY PLATES!!!” Natalie shouts and starts to cry, “Jimmy! Jimmy those are my special china we got at our wedding!” She sobs “Mom! Why are you doing this?!” she pleaded
“That bitch is FUCKED up! What in the fuckin ghetto ass shit! Isn’t this the north side?!” Sadie said, causing Richie to laugh
“Welcome to the fuckin Berzatto house my friend” he told her loudly over the chaos
“Natalie! Natalie - Honey- Uncle Jimmy will replace your plates, Come on honey we need to get her out I need your help grab her other arm!” I heard Jimmy tell her
“Oh my god baby” I heard from behind me and Carmy rushed over, touching my back and I flinch.
“Don’t- don’t touch me I’m gonna have a panic response I can’t see- I don’t wanna hurt you” I said quickly, trying to even my breathing and stop crying so hard. “Please get my bag” I told him, continuing to rinse my eyes until the pain had subsided enough to open them.
“Yeah- uh…yeah” he said and I heard him go into the living room. I felt around the counter until I found the paper towel, patting my face down with it to dry.
When he came in, I took my glasses out of my purse, putting them on my face to see his cheek was unnaturally bright red- it looked so painful. There was a big raised mark with fanned out stripes from a handprint - she slapped him so hard it would bruise.
Suddenly, my panic for myself melted away and I went in to protector mode, any worry or fear melted and reformed into concern for the sweet, damaged man before me. “Oh..Bear” I whispered, rushing to the freezer and getting a bag of frozen vegetables. “My poor love”
I went over, gently pressing it to his cheek and he hissed in pain “yeah…” he said softly. “ it looks bad?” He asked
“I think she should go to jail. Either that or she agrees to go to rehab,” I said softly, gently thumbing out the wrinkle in his brow with my thumb.
“She’s not gonna go to rehab” he muttered, looking up at the ceiling and swallowing hard. I could tell he was biting back tears, as was I, because this environment wasn’t safe to cry.
“Then she goes to jail. Because this is gonna give you a black eye - and don’t you know how much I love your pretty face?” I joked, trying to lighten the mood a bit and I kissed his good cheek.
He cracked the slightest smile, “yeah she really got me. She’s never uh…well not since I was a kid but I don’t think she’s ever hit me with all her strength like that. I was scared for a second she broke my fuckin jaw” he said and I gently rub his shoulder
“Baby really” I said softly. “Half of your face is gonna be bruised. She needs help” I said quietly.
“But….she’d never forgive me” he said brokenly, averting my gaze.
“Forgive you?! Oh bear. No, no my love. Carm, you should be thinking if you can ever forgive her. Not the other way around.” I gently rub his chest “lets go sit on the couch ok? We don’t want this rash to set and it’ll be so much worse. Cold compress should help the aching and the red and the swelling” I explained. He nodded a bit and took over holding the bag, going with me to the living room.
“I want you on my lap” he said softly and I nodded, sitting down and wrapping my arm across his shoulders, holding the bag with my other hand against his cheek.
“They’re fine- yeah- Winnie- how are your eyes?” Syd asked as she came in the living room talking on the phone
“Okay Syd, thanks. It’s Carmy I’m worried about- is your ear ok bear?” I asked him
“Still ringing” he mumbled, resting his other cheek on my chest and shutting his eyes.
“He says his ear is ringing. I’m gonna have him checked out tomorrow” I told her and she nods
“Do you…wanna press charges?” She asked and I shrug
“Tell them well know when they get here based on her behavior and if she’s being remorseful,” I said and she nodded, heading back to the front room.
“Oh my god- oh god. Carmy - Carmy I’m so sorry” Natalie said, rushing in and sitting next to us, “Winnie- Winnie I’m so sorry please forgive me I promise. I told her she has to go to rehab I told her she has to go or she can’t come here anymore-“ I cut her off
“Natalie…” I said softly. “If she doesn’t agree to be checked into an emergency rehab center- tonight? She is going to jail. Tonight. I will make sure of it. So if you don’t want her to go to jail, I would go talk her into rehab. There is nothing you have to be sorry to us for, lovey. If anything- apologize to Pete? Apologize to your daughters. But not us. Because Carmen has been saying for at least 2 months he no longer wants to interact with her, and the only time he has to is when you push him to do so. I love you, it’s why I’m telling you this. And I appreciate the roll you have in Carmys life and all you do for him- but you are enabling her. And it’s hurting the family. No matter what happens after tonight- this is the last time either of us will see her unless we’re shown definite proof she is sober.” I explained.
Carmen just sat silently, his other cheek flush against my chest with his eyes closed, likely pretending to not be here. He didn’t have the mental strength to stick up to her like this right now, nor did he have the emotional capacity to do it gently. So I was stepping up to take the load for him.
“Okay…” she nodded “okay.” She repeated and went back out to the front yard where Jimmy had wrangled Donna off to wait for the cops. “I love you” he muttered into my shirt, and he sounded utterly defeated.
Tumblr media
Donna had chosen rehab- reluctantly. It wasn’t without a huge fight between her, Carmy, and Natalie, with many tears from each side being shed.
When we finally got home, we wordlessly stripped out of our clothes, I started the shower for us and he got our towels for us and set out our night time lavender lotion we shared on top of the counter. I put the towels in the warmer Carmy had bought for us, since he said it ‘was too much an effort for me to put them in the dryer while we shower, and the floor out there was so cold, and he dripped all over while going to get them’ so the $200 purchase was well worth it to him.
We had a silent shower, but it was not any less intimate then any of our other shared showers. We still washed each other, we still gently brushed eachothers wet strands of hair off of the others forehead. I had to swallow a lump in my throat each time my gaze met the raised bumps on his swollen red cheek.
I wasn’t sure how I was going to get through the next few weeks until he healed. I’d much rather her had slapped me. I could hardly imagine what he was going through inside his head right now. I had to actually remove myself and go throw up when I heard him crying, begging her to listen to Sugar and just go with her to rehab- or he would have to tell the cops to take her.
Apparently, she went through the typical stages of grief an addict goes through when realizing they’ve been backed into a corner and are no longer able to make the choice to keep using for themself. She had started by telling them the classic
‘I know- I know I’ve done some messed up things- I know I’ve hurt you kids! But I’m your mother- you really are gonna send your mother to jail? Hmm? Carmy? My littlest bear. You’d send your mama away? I don’t believe that, Carmen. Oh Carmen Anthony. My sweetest boy. Don’t you let your sister control the situation- you don’t want this sweetheart you don’t want to do this to your mother’
And when Carmen simply told her ‘no- I’m with Sug, mom you need rehab- this can’t keep goin’ ’ she flew off the handle once more, screaming at him, Sugar and the police - telling them that they were crazy- that all of them were lying about her, and that she didn’t even have a problem at all. That her ingrate horrible leech children- the ones that she had left at least, had planned for her to be taken away and locked up because they hate her- for why? She couldn’t give an answer to that in her drunken state.
For the last part of her Oscar worthy performance - She wailed, she screamed, she cursed Carmen and told him he was a mistake- that together he and Natalie had ruined her life. That she ‘knew she should have stopped at Michael.’ That they drove their father away together, drove her to drink, and then drove their brother to do what he did. That they took everything from her. That her very pregnancy’s and births with them were pure hell- as if she was birthing demons and that she’d been miserable since the day Natalie had been born, and that it hadn’t stopped. And not without telling Carmen he made things all the more worse.
In her vicious words, as told to me by Syd while Carmen comforted Natalie in the laundry room as she sobbed so hard she could barely breathe - the last thing Donna said after finding out Carmy would be the one paying for her treatment - while she being put in Pete’s car so he could drop her off was;
“Your father couldn’t handle your social deficits anymore- so he left us. that’s what really happened you drove your father away from your brother and sister. You’re the reason the family is the way it is.”
After Syd told me, I sobbed so hard I threw up again.
The look on Carmen’s face when he came to collect me in the living room to leave after tending to Natalie and getting her to bed was nothing short of haunted.
The drive back, likely goes without saying- was silent.
Carmy cut off the water after he finished delicately rinsing my hair, opening the curtain and grabbing my towel first, wrapping it around my body.
“Thanks.” I muttered, squeezing the water from my hair before drying my body off and stepping out.
He hummed in response. The rest of the evening was that- silent. It was almost a shell shock kind of silent. I felt insane guilt, so much so that silent hot tears rolled down my cheeks as we laid in the dark, trying our best to get some sleep.
“I- I know we said goodnight already” I sniffle, my voice hoarse and raw from crying. “I’ll shut up after this- I just had to tell you I’m sorry. I’m so so fucking sorry Bear. I’ll listen to you from here on. I’m sorry- It- it was so stupid it was my fault- you know your family better than anyone I was so dumb to push you and to ask to stay. I think back on it and I realize why you got upset when I asked on the porch- but hindsight is always 20/20. I got you hurt. I hurt you and I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I love you. You know I never would intentionally hurt you…right? And it feels like- like I did this to you” I said, gently rubbing his arm.
He sat up, flicking on the lamp on his side. “It’s my mom.” He said, wiping my tears. “Please. Baby. Please. I- I can’t be away from you tonight- but if I start gettin’ worked up again- I’m not gonna be able t’sleep here. Please. Princess, Honey - I love you. I fucking love you. Is that what you need? I need you to be okay right now baby- at least not cryin’. I’m hangin’ on-“ he took a shaking breath “I’m hangin by a thread. I already texted Jazz” he whispered, rubbing his face over to rid any building tears.
I swallowed thickly “I love you, Ok. Ok I’m done, I just had to tell you how sorry I am…” I said, quickly shoving all my emotions into a too small box and locking the bulging lid. He needs me right now.
“Here, you’ll be little tonight. Turn off the light” I said, laying flat and opening my arms for him.
He shut off the light, nuzzling his face into my neck, pulling me close as he possibly could. With a featherlight touch, I brush his hair off his forehead so it doesn’t tickle my mouth, gently dragging my nails across his scalp. “Thank you” he muttered.
He shivered a bit, his breath hitching slightly before he melted into me, sighing deeply. “I love you, so much, Carmen. Wholeheartedly. As sure as I am the sun will come up tomorrow, that’s how sure I am I love you. With every cell of my being. And I want you to know that it’s okay to be hurting. It’s okay to show you’re hurting, bear. You’re safe” I said quietly, before kissing his forehead tenderly.
He remained silent, fingers gently moving along the skin of my back. I continued gently scratching his scalp, rubbing his back in long soothing strokes, the only sound in the room being our breathing and my noise machine. It remained that way for about 20 minutes, before he started softly shaking with silent sobs, holding me tighter and sniffling every so often.
It went on like this for quite a while. My neck was soaking wet, so was my pillow he was nuzzled on- I didn’t care. I could flip it over. The itch of tear droplets gliding down my skin was only temporary. What he needed right now, was to be held. And to be loved. So that is what I’d give him, without any stipulation, or question, or expecting him to offer any answers.
“You didn’t deserve it. Any of it. Remember that, ok? I know it hurts. You deserved a good mother, Carm. We both did.” I said softly, kissing the side of his head.
He nodded gently, tightening his grip on me. “My fucking face hurts again. Like a bitch” he whimpered sadly.
I swallowed the lump in my throat that formed at the sound of his wet tear filled voice “Give me a second Bear, I’ll be right back yeah? You’re getting too hot, It’s worse cause you're getting all warm and its makin’ the blood rush to your face and it’s throbbing. Cold will help it feel better, let me help you sweets” He wordlessly let me up and I quickly padded out to the freezer.
Persephone meows, twirling around my legs for attention. “Hey you” I sniffled, tears brimming my eyes without an ability to stop them. I crouched down to pet her and blinked the blurry haze away, the offending tears rolling down my cheeks and dripping in 2 thick droplets onto the floor.
“Carmy is sad right now, ok? Can you come give us your sweet Sephy snuggles and make him feel better? I know you can make him giggle silly girl” I wiped my face with his white shirt, shaking my head and trying to get ahold of myself.
“Mama can do this, kittens. I can do it” I told myself, standing up again and momentarily resting the ice pack on each of my puffy eyes before blowing my nose with a tissue and heading back.
“Hi sweet boy” I said softly, carefully getting back in bed and laying with him.
“Hey” he sniffled.
I opened my arm for him “Here, we can both be cold” I joked. Resting the ice pack where he usually laid on my chest and patting it. “This will make it feel so much better, Bear” I assured him.
“Thank you” he said, gently resting his cheek and closing his eyes. He was hiccuping and doing one of those post-sob sniffles every so often, as I resumed petting his hair.
“Everything happens for a reason, Bear. And I’m really grateful I’m able to tell you I love you, tonight. I love you, and I’m here- I’ll always be here” I said softly and kissed his forehead with a gentle peck. “You too…” He whispered, and that was the last thing either of us said that night.
Tumblr media
The next morning naturally due to the stress I woke up extra early. Well- shamefully half because of the stress. Half because Sadie was coming over for coffee and we were gonna do our usual Taylor album release antics.
I grabbed my phone carefully, seeing that Sadie had sent me twenty seven texts since midnight. The last one being
THAT CRAZY BITCH!! SHES RELEASING A PT 2. 31 FUCKIN SONGS WIN!!
I gasp quietly, ever so gently untucking Carm’s arm around me and getting up carefully. I picked up Seph who was comfy laying on his hip, squeaking in protest.
I shush her, kissing her nose and carrying her to the kitchen. “Queen put a new album out fluffabutt!!” I whispered, taking out 2 coffee mugs.
I grabbed my phone, FaceTiming Sadie “oh! Perfect! I’m at Starbucks what are you feeling?” She asked and I opened the cabinet, putting away the 2 glass mugs.
“Can I have a large like- triple shot added americano? With extra oatmilk - vanilla and cold foam, iced?” I said and she laughed
“Jesus Christ ok I’ll be ready to do CPR I guess” she joked.
“Yup, Carm and I had a late night, shall I spare you the details?” I joked and she snorted, pulling up to the drive through.
“Please- I don’t have to hear it twice.” She paused to put in our order “what does he like?” She asked
“Oh- black with sugar. He’s a weirdo. Thank you- I’ll cashapp you” I told her and she relayed it to the person working the line
“Don’t worry about it- I’ll be there soon Kay?” She asked and I smiled a bit and nod
“Sounds good. Love ya drive safe!” I told her
“Love you!” She replied as I hung up.
I heard stirring in the bathroom and the toilet flushed, so I headed back over to the bedroom just as Carm lays back down on his side of the bed.
“G’morning lovey” I said softly
“Hey- whats’up why’ya outta bed?” He yawned. My heart ached slightly at the sight of his puffy eyes and red nose from crying so long last night, but mostly the reddening on his cheek.
“Uh- it’s Taylor day- Sadie was coming over but we’re gonna get outta here so you don’t have to listen to us, don’worry” I sit down on my side of the bed.
“Why?” He asked, wrapping his arms around my waist and tugging me to him.
“We don’t wanna bug you…” I shrugged a bit. My past boyfriends would sometimes get annoyed about my passion for music- especially Taylor, and Sadie was just as loud and enthusiastic as I was- and especially due to the previous nights events. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’d be feeling snappier then usua & didn’t want to deal with our squealing and excited antics.
“Why’d you bein’ happy bug me, honey?” He said softly, resting his head on my lap and looking up at me.
I shrugged, gently playing with his hair. “I dunno… I guess if it’s ok we’ll stay, we’ll make sure t’be quiet cause you need your sleep baby your eyes are exhausted” I said softly, gently running my thumb over the bags under his eyes with my other hand. He sighed contently nuzzling his face in my stomach.
“Sounds good t’me…Can I ask you somethin’ and you won’t laugh?” He asked, eyes still closed.
“I’d never laugh at you, baby. Well- except that one time you thought rupaul were 2 different people.” I teased with a giggle and he snorts a laugh
“Stop it I’m serious. Did that all….really happen? Last night?” He asked and I gently bit my lip.
“I love you, and your mom is getting help. If that’s what you mean” I said, trying to lead with the good and put the bad as gently as I possibly could.
He sighed softly “mmhmm.” he muttered, remaining quiet for a little bit. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he didn’t want to speak any more about it. Considering last night was the first time i’d met his mother- he was likely feeling embarrassed knowing him (which he shouldn’t be) but nonetheless- nothing I could say would remove that shame from him. The shame of being the child of an unhealed alcoholic was a wound that no one or nothing could heal unless she got the help she needed.
“Wait don’t we gotta go get the album or whatever baby? From Target yea?” He peeked up at me. My heart swelled at the fact he remembered that I told him about the little process Sadie and I had when Taylor would release an album. We didn’t go as far as to having a huge party and staying up until midnight how we used to, but we’d both take the day off work & get starbucks before going to target and buying the Vinyl & CD & listening it in her car together while we do a mini road trip and get lunch.
When I’d told him about it- he said it was ‘really sweet’ and that it seemed like a great time, I told him it was and jokingly invited him expecting him to pass- but surprisingly he agreed, & told me he likes hanging out with Sadie and I because we were ‘funny’ which just made me fall in love with him all the more that he enjoys my best friends company how I do.
I shook my head a bit “No carmy. We can just relax- we had a hard night. It can just wait you’re more important” I said gently and he sat up a bit, furrowing his brows slightly.
“No- no, I have therapy at 2 we got time you’ve been wantin’ this baby. I wanna see too what it’s about. All the letters and stuff? Mm? It’ll be fun right?” He rubbed my arm gently. I had been telling him all about the letters Taylor had been posting on her social media in preparation for the album. I never expected him to be actually listening since I was just rambling on and I know he doesn’t listen to music so I thought he was just letting me go on because he cares about me.
“You really…you really care?” I asked, astonished he would even humor me by tolerating my interests- let alone actually asking questions about them and wanting to learn and participate in them the same way I’d ask him about cooking.
“What? Yes. Yes, honey, I love listenin’ t’you talk about this stuff. Y’fuckin light up when you do. How could I not like it if it makes you happy?” He asked and I felt tears welling up behind my eyes.
I hugged him tightly, nuzzling my face in his neck and he wrapped me in a bear hug, laying back on the mattress as I curl myself around him. “Y’think I don’t realize when y’tell me things you’re lookin’ forward to babe?” He asked gently and rubs my back soothingly.
“I love you. So much” I whispered, blinking away hot stinging tears. “Nd you give such good hugs” I giggled, smiling when I feel him chuckle against me.
“So you’ve told me” he kissed my temple “Now tell me princess, how do we do this? You said it’s a process hm?” He asked and I smiled big, sitting back and looking at him with my arms wrapped around his neck loosely.
I knew he wasn’t a particular fan of hers, Carmy wasn’t really a fan of anything. He barely listened to music on his own, but because I listened to music near constantly - he’d gotten well adjusted to something always playing, and it was usually her. He would make it a point to say “ I do really like this one honey what’s it about?” When he’d heard ones he liked while cooking dinner or breakfast for us and of course I’d happily oblige.
“Uh..” my cheeks heat as he kissed down my jaw and neck “so - we usually listen to the first single separately…” my breath hitches as he stops at my collarbones, tugging the collar of his shirt down over my shoulder easily and biting down gently on the fleshy part. He hummed as if to say ‘go on’
“That- would um..be the first track so. Yeah and then we listen to the rest together but like slow- we relisten to the songs over and over, it’s weird” I said, losing my train of thought as he kissed the top of my breast, sucking lightly before pulling away and looking up at me.
“Put it on then mm?” he rested his chin in the hill of my breasts looking up at me with those big blue puppy eyes of his.
“I’m gonna tell you a lot today but I love you and you’re the best” I kissed his forehead gently and grabbed my phone from the nightstand.
He smiled a bit, blush creeping across his cheeks. “So since im the best…does that mean we can fool around before Sadie gets here?” he sucked on my neck gently and I scratch his hair gently as I one handedly checked her location.
“She’s 7 minutes away don’t think so especially since she has a key” I connect my phone to my bluetooth speaker.
“Mmm” he huffs brattily, leaning into my touch and closing his eyes.
“Ok, it’s been less then 24 hours, you little pervert- this one’s called Fortnight, A Fortnight if you don’t know is a period of 2 weeks. If you can remember the name of one song from this album before we go to bed I’ll do whatever you want any position at all” I smirked and he looked up at me quickly, like a puppy being asked if they’d like to go on a walk.
“The mating press one?” he asked and I roll my eyes playfully with a smirk.
“Yes you horny fucker. Now shhh” I kissed his lips gently as I hit play on the song so he couldn’t ask any more questions.
He hummed happily and cupped my cheek with his calloused hand, rubbing his thumb over my cheek sweetly. When he pulled away he said, “The beat is cool” which made me smile big and pull him into another sweet kiss, gently rubbing over the back of his neck.
I gently rested my head on his shoulder as I listened and he snorted a laugh at the line ‘Your wife waters flowers, I want to kill her.’ “She’s so honest about her feelings, it’s refreshing” he mutters and I giggle a bit.
“Well yeah- if I lost you and then you went off and dated someone else and got married and we ended up being neighbors? If you didn’t move i’d fantasize about killing that bitch every day” I laced our fingers together.
He chuckled and shook his head. “Marriage would be completely off the table if you left me, so it’d never happen” He said and I blushed pink, squeezing his hand gently.
“I’d never leave you, Bear. Ever, you know that. Here let me see hows your cheek baby?” I gently turn his face and bit my lip at the fanned out pink and deep red marks as well as a blotch in the middle of his cheek.
“Yeah I look fuckin…horrible” he cleared his throat, looking away from my gaze. I shook my head quickly
“Baby-” I swallowed thickly, trying to hold back my tears and maintain an even normal voice. He hated when I cried, it always made him so upset, so the last thing I needed was to make him hurt more then he already was right now. “It looks fine.” I lied “I meant are you hurting? Can I get you some tylenol or something? Want me to ice it for you?” I asked and barely even brushed my finger over it and he winced.
“Ah- don’t” he hissed and I frowned.
“I’m gonna go get an ice pack love” I got up and went to the freezer. The way he wasn’t fighting on me, meant it really was hurting him- but Carmy is Carmy and wasn’t ever going to complain. But it still bothered me how he would just sit there in pain & not say anything about it so I could take care of him.
I came back to bed with the icepack and gently held it to his face and he sighed in relief. “Thank you angel” He said softly. I paused the song before it could start the next one without Sadie here and kissed his forehead.
“Of course sweets, I’m gonna get dressed mm?” I said and he hummed in agreement, taking the icepack and holding it to himself, laying back on the bed and sighing softly to himself.
“So do you have a special Taylor outfit too baby?” he asked as I opened my closet. I smiled a bit, looking through it.
“Kinda- I’m gonna wear my Folklore cardigan” I took it out and tossed it on the bed and he looks at it carefully, dragging his finger over the embroidered stars “Cause that’s what Sadie’s wearin’ so were gonna match” I said and speak of the devil, I heard the door open.
“In here! He’s already up, Oh my god!! ‘My husbands cheating I wanna kill him?!’ Bitch this albums gonna be insane” I called out to herand she came to the bedroom, baring a tray of coffees.
“Stop it’s been on repeat since last night for me, It’s so good!! Hey Carm” she greeted him and goes over, setting the tray on the nightstand and handing him the only hot coffee in the tray.
“Oh-Uh, thanks…” He said shyly. He still hadn’t been able to be out of his shell fully unless it was just us, but he was slowly getting there. His eyes slightly widen as I started stripping and putting on a fresh pair of panties and a bra while Sadie and I continued casually talking.
“Oh the first part about being sent away- literally us” I said causing us both to laugh as I hit play on the song again.
“First thing I thought when I heard it, oh are we twinning?! Cuutee!!” She said excitedly with a smile.
“So…you just look at eachothers tits?” Carm asked bluntly and Sadie and I both laugh.
“No- weirdo- shes just changing i’m not staring at her. You don’t change in front of your dude friends?” she asked and he shook his head.
“You’ve never changed in front of other dudes?” she asked to which he shook his head again lightly as he held the icepack to his cheek.
“He didn’t play any sports bug” I told her as I jumped and wiggled into my jeans before buttoning them.
“Ahhh- ok. That tracks, when did you graduate?” she asked him.
“High- High School? Er…” he asked, looking at me nervously before looking back at her. If she’d been a stranger I’d willingly save him from the discomfort of being asked about himself - but it’s healthy for him to branch out and talk to people since he refused to do it himself, and Sadie was more then safe for him to try that with.
“Yeah! I went to Gage Park and graduated in 2012 - same year as Win” she nodded
“Oh- uh..no I um… I went to Foreman and graduated in 2011” he replied and took a sip of his coffee. “How’d you know?” he motioned to the cup and she shrugged with a smile
“If I said i’m a coffee psychic i’m not sure you’d believe me, your lovely pooh bear has your order memorized,” she said and I rolled my eyes, putting on my deodorant with a small smile.
“It’d be more impressive if he remembered my order since his is literally just sugar” I said and Sadie grabbed my cup from the nightstand, covering the sticker.
“Boyfriend test! What’s her coffee order?” she teased him and I looked over at him raising my eyebrows playfully.
“Here’s your real test of love” I joked, slipping my cardigan on and grabbing my hairbrush, beginning to detangle my rats nest from not tying it up before I went to sleep.
He rolled his eyes playfully. “Iced americano, with shots in it depending on how tired she is- and then add vanilla, and extra light with the oatmilk shit, and extra of the cold foam stuff on the top - and cinnamon” he said and Sadie raised her eyebrows in surprise, looking over at me.
“Trained ‘em well” she said and I laughed, pausing my hairbrushing to come give him a well deserved kiss.
“Do I love you yet?” he joked and I giggle, pinching his bicep playfully.
“Remembered the cinnamon huh?” I kiss the tip of his nose and he pats my bum gently.
“Yes- can we please turn on the next song now? We’ve heard it 50 times now babe” He asked and I laugh a bit.
“More like less then 10, but ok lover because I don’t want you sick of us just yet” I hit skip to start playing the next song which was the title track as I sat at my vanity and finished brushing my hair. Sadie came up and put my coffee on the vanity for me, going over to my perfumes and smelling various ones as we listened.
Came the part of the song where the lyrics were ‘I scratch your head, you fall asleep - like a tattooed golden retriever’ and Sadie and I stared at eachother for a moment before looking at Carmen, then back to eachother and cracking up. She had witnessed many times now when we’d have little dinner party’s with he and Syd when they insisted on cooking for us and showing us a new recipe, he’d work himself so hard that sitting on the couch after everything had been cleaned up when I was gently playing with his hair he’d fall asleep in my lap and miss them leaving.
“Hey- What! What’s funny?” he asked, not even realizing the lyrics we were laughing at, not having been paying attention like we were and he puts his coffee down. “Tell me! Tell me what did I do?” He whined a bit with a slight pout, how he usually did when he realized he’d missed a joke and I laughed at his adorable childlike tiny tantrum.
“Nothin’ - Taylor had a little tattooed golden retriever too I guess” I shrugged and he put the icepack down, confused.
“Hell’s that mean?” he asked and came over to me, watching as I put on my eyeliner.
“It means you’re cute and have nice energy, baby” I said before resuming to carefully draw a sharp wing.
“Mm” he grumbled how he did when he didn’t understand me but was just deciding to let it go. “How long will this take? I wanted you t’try that sauce i’m makin’ when we get back” he kissed the top of my head lightly as I paused to shake the pen so more ink would go to the tip.
“Not long, Bear. We’ll be back with plenty of time to try your sauce, yeah? Go shower baby” I said, leaning into the mirror as I start my other eye.
“Kay…y’look pretty” he said softly and rested his hand on the desk, leaning. I smiled a bit
“Thank you, you’re hovering, lovey. Did you want a kiss?” I puckered my lips and his cheeks redden in response as he leans down and kisses my lips.
“Thank you” he muttered
“Baby you can ask me for loves when Sadies here, shes not gonna judge you” I assured him and she looks up from her phone.
“What?” she replied, clearly not having paid attention.
“See” I assure him and rub his chest just above his belly gently. “Make sure you dont let your face hit the hot water ok lovey?” I ask and he nodded a bit. It was more than clear that last nights events were causing him to be much clingier and wanting of physical touch which was more then normal after something like that, especially for him. The last time he’d had a big blowout fight with his mom, he’d not even wanted me to go to the bathroom alone - his mind was absolutely a prison in times like this, and me being near made it easier to manage.
“Mm i’ll be careful” he said and went to the bathroom, shutting the door since Sadie was here and preoccupying Sephy so she wouldn’t feel the need to go and scratch.
“So…How was like- after” Sadie asked when she heard the water start. I cleared my throat, nervously stretching my back and shaking my eyeliner pen some more.
“Not much. He’s not a talker, made sure he knew I was here. He cried a little, it’s better then nothing. He’s seeing his therapist.” I told her and she nods a bit, looking at me in the mirror.
“His sister was a mess too, like- her husband had to drop her kids off at his parents house so they wouldnt see the rest of it. She kinda bitched me out when I opened the laundry room by mistake, Syd said she didn’t mean it, though” she picked at her nails nervously.
“She didn’t, Sadie. Natalie really is one of the nicest people. His family is just…” I sighed. “She said it was like this before their brother, but- now its like…no love left. Like he was the main string that tied the family all together and now that he’s gone- it’s impossible to be together. My therapist says that a tragedy like that either breaks a family or brings them closer together- Chris broke mine too, so I don’t blame them. I wasn’t strong enough - er…my family wasn’t strong enough, either.” I explained and she shook her head.
“No way, Win. You’re so strong, and so, so smart. It wasn’t your job- it was your familys job.” She said and I sighed softly, finishing up my eyeliner. I wanted to believe her - but something in me couldn’t help but feel weak at the fact I had no family left that bothered to speak to me other then my Grandma, and I had Carmy and his family right in front of me in dire need of help and I’m not even the one hurting this time- and I still cant save him from them.
I’m pulled from my thoughts by Carm’s phone ringing - “Hand it please” I requested since Sadie was laying on my side of the bed, she leaned over and grabbed the phone before reaching out to me and handing it over.
Natalie's name flashed on the screen and I slid it, to answer putting the phone to my ear. “Carmy? Mom had a seizure last night apparently- uh…they’re saying she has some…some- disease from drinking? Please- how fast can you get here? I really don’t wanna do this by myself…”

Howdy dowdy, Partner. It's me, ya boi, Skinny Penis.
How would the Lords react to a selectively mute S/O? Especially their reaction to them talking to them for the first time.
I have this mental image of Heisenberg's S/O saying something really casually (while they're relaxing or something), and he just whips around to look at them and he just shouts "hoLY FUCK!"
Saw the first line of this ask and then it was followed by a cute prompt????---
Tumblr media
Warnings: swearing, my typical brand of silly
Alcina Dimitrescu
She's so used to your quiet demeanor it's to the point where she COMPLETELY forgot that your silence is a choice.
Alcina quite honestly never expected you to speak to her, and she was mentally planning for the rest of your relationship to be this way -- all of the servants are learning to sign, just in case, and she has pens and paper in every room if you prefer to write as your form of communication.
When you do finally speak up, she's frozen. What.
Oh. You can. You...can speak?
It's one of the times you've ever seen Alcina baffled, because honestly? She has no idea what to do.
However, you can bet she IMMEDIATELY analyses the situation in order to make sure she can get you to keep talking to her. Whatever made this happen needs to be repeated as much as possible -- Now that she knows you can be made comfortable enough to speak, she needs to hear you speak again.
(It might not have been your intention, but you hit her right in the superiority complex. Her partner spoke to HER. JUST her. Exclusively. Alcina is going to be riding this high for decades)
The Lady Dimitrescu is a big believer in positive reinforcement with her loved ones, so you better believe that every time you speak she is extra affectionate, because she does like to hear your voice!💞
Essentially, you have prompted constant affection DO NOT RESIST---
Donna Beneviento
I mentioned this in my other Donna x Mute reader post, but Donna is able to relate to a mute s/o a lot.
She's pretty nonverbal herself, so often you two have moments of quiet peace, where the two of you are doing your own thing together in the same room, taking breaks only to hold hands, cuddle, and kiss each other sweetly.
Truly dreamy💕💕💕
The first time you speak to her though, she's sewing a new outfit for one of her dolls, while you're reading in the setee beside her.
You peak over her shoulder, clear your throat and say: "You're really talented, Donna".
She drops a stitch.
Her face is burning underneath her veil. The first thing you say to her is a complement??? About a skill she is actually proud of??? That's already enough to get her heart stuttering, but you said her name.
It feels like such a small thing, but it sends Donna into a tizzy. Your lips formed the syllables of her name, and she can't get over it. You said a compliment and her name in the same sentence.
She's swooning. Smitten. Overcome.
Expect some flustered giggling and a compliment in return.
Salvatore Moreau
Salvatore has no chill whatsoever.
He literally drops everything and scuttles across the room to stand in front of you, flitting his hands around you in excitement, not quite touching you but close.
He's! So! Excited!
He didn't process what you even said-- you SPOKE TO HIM!!!! Fireworks are going off in his brain, Kool and the Gang are celebrating the good times, life is beautiful and love is in the air....
Moreau is delighted by this development. You feel safe enough around him a monster to vocalize your thoughts. You trust him. He already knew you did, but this is confirmation he didn't even know he wanted. Moreau almost starts crying he's so relieved.
Meanwhile you're repeatedly trying to warn him about the disaster occurring on the stove.
"... Salvatore, honey, the pancakes are burning."
Honey???? HONEY??? Are you TRYING to kill him????
Salvatore staggers on his feet, unintentionally the most dramatic you've ever seen him.
Sighing, you hide a smile behind your palm and give him a little smooch on the cheek before you go rescue your breakfast.
Moreau flatlines. Better give him some mouth to mouth 💗.
Karl Heisenberg
Absolutely shocked the first time you speak.
He's working on a soldat, fully used to the silence as he solders body parts together to make a deadly monster worthy of murdering Mother Miranda.
"You missed a spot--"
jESUS FUCK
Very softly, you speak up again. "At the shoulder. It's not... It's not fully connected."
Heisenberg whips around to just...stare??? At you for a bit?? His face is totally expressionless, but make no mistake his brain is reeling.
What is he supposed to do here? You feel comfortable enough to talk with him--this is a big deal, right? Is he supposed to comfort you? Praise you?
Still, it's not in Heisenberg's nature to make a big deal of things, and he doesn't want to spook you.
Eventually he nods, grunts in acknowledgement, and gets back to work.
Still, your words ring in his ears. Your voice fits you so well? He never really thought about what you sounded like before, but honestly now it's all he can think about.
Much later, when you almost forget about the whole thing, he'll offhandedly say he's proud of you for finally speaking up for yourself.
It's kinda condescending? But you know Heisenberg pretty well, and the fact he refuses to meet your eyes let's you know he's just being his normal, socially stunted self.
Thank him for the "compliment" and you'll get a pleased grin back, as well as a teasing hair ruffle. He's...happy you're comfortable with him.
It just makes your relationship feel even more right. ❤️

WARNING: BRUISING, BLOOD, DISCUSSION OF MAN HURTING WOMAN
A/N: I have them just flirty and not yet dating in this fic! Also, there will be a part two because we all deserve to see y/n and Harvey more
Tumblr media
“What can I do for you, Harvey?” You asked, heels clicking perfectly with the floor as you strut into his office.
“Joshua Hendricks, you know him?” He asked, leaning back in his chair.
“You mean the most powerful man in the health technology industry, and one of our biggest clients?” You questioned, though you were only stating facts.
“I need you to persuade him to do something,” Harvey said, eyeing you up and down in your tight, yet professional, dress.
“Persuade how?”
————-
Harvey glanced down at his watch, a frown taking over. It was fifteen past eight, and while you were known to occasionally be five minutes late, this simply wasn't you, and Harvey knew it.
Pulling out his phone, he quickly clicked your name and waited for your familiar voice. It never came. His jaw tightened while he switched gears.
"Donna, do you know if Y/N ever left from the office to come to dinner?"
"She never came back after that client meeting."
He tried to ignore the pit in his stomach. He'd asked you to see this client because you were beautiful, a senior partner, and had the willingness to sway a client with flirtation- something he hated as much as he loved. And he was beyond worried that you'd had a little...too much fun with the client.
Shaking his head, he stood and left the restaurant, heading back to the office. He needed something else to occupy his head.
Getting off of the elevator and heading down the darkened hallway, he sighed. Harvey always felt better working after hours with less people to bother him. His office always seemed more welcoming, more serene in the night. Walking in, he turned towards his records on the shelf, heart dropping at the sight.
"Oh my god," he blurted, seeing you sitting on his couch, holding your bruised wrist, a bit of blood on your arms. "What happened?"
"Harvey-"
"Who did this to you?"
"Harvey-"
"I swear, when I find him-"
"Harvey!" you shouted, effectively quieting him. As soon as he met your gaze, you burst into tears.
"Hey, Y/N," he murmured, moving quickly to sit on the table in front of you, taking a deep breath in and out before continuing, "Let me see."
Trying to calm your breathing, you held out your hands to him, letting him get a close look at the bruises encircling your wrist and the scrapes on your other. His jaw was set in a firm line and you could tell he was getting angrier by the second.
"What else hurts?"
You took a shaky breath before pulling the top of your dress slightly to the side, showing a few darkening bruises forming near your collarbone.
"Who? It was Joshua, wasn't it." It wasn't a question, it was an accusation, one you confirmed with fresh tears.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," Harvey whispered, his eyes filling with unshed tears. You shook your head.
"It wasn't your fault."
"I asked you to go, he never would have- I'm so sorry, Y/N." He gently brushed your hair out of your face, tucking it behind your ear. You couldn't stop the tears, no matter how hard you tried, and Harvey just leaned forward, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead.
How long you stayed like that, you didn’t know. But you finally sat up, wiping at your tears before accepting the tissue Harvey offered.
“Can I help clean you up?”
“I’m fine.”
“You’re bleeding.”
“It’s dried, it’ll wash off in the shower.”
He didn’t quite know what to say, so he stood and went over to grab you a glass of water.
“I’m sorry, I’m a bit on the defensive and I don’t know why,” you admitted.
“I would be surprised if you weren’t on the defensive.”
It was quiet for a moment, before he spoke again. “What do you want to do?”
“If we lose this client, the firm loses a lot.”
“I don’t give a damn about the firm.”
“Harvey, you and I both know that’s not true. You’re angry, so am I, but-“
“He can’t get away with it.”
“Get away with what?”
You both turned towards the door to see Jessica in the doorway, her bags and coat in hand. As soon as she got a good look at you, her face softened, she set her things down, and moved to sit on the couch next to you.
“Tell me what happened.”
Your eyes flickered to Harvey before settling back to meet her gaze. “The client, Joshua Hendricks, he thought he could get the case settled. I went to speak to him about making a statement and he didn’t like the idea very much.”
“He is no longer our client,” Jessica said simply.
“He brings in nearly a million dollars per week for us,” you responded.
“I don’t care. I will give him a call in the morning.”
“No,” Harvey interrupted. “Let me.”
Jessica looked at him, not even a hint of hesitation on her face while she nodded. “Take care of him.”
You both watched her go.
“What are you going to do to him?” You asked quietly.
“I don’t know,” Harvey answered honestly.
“I should go.”
“Let me take you. Please, Y/N.”
You were much too tired and hurt to argue. “Okay.”
———
You’d only been in Harvey’s apartment once before, when you had previously dropped off files while he was working from home after breaking his leg.
He gestured toward one of the counterstools. You took a seat, nodding to his quick ‘Be right back.’
When he came back a moment later with a first aid kit, you tilted your head. “I told you-“
“Please. Just let me take care of you.”
You nodded, feeling more vulnerable than you had in a while. Flirting with Harvey, teasing him- that was one thing. But sitting in front of him, in his apartment, while he cleaned the blood off of you and held ice packs to your wrist- that felt intimate.
He must have felt the same, because you could practically feel the emotions rolling off of him. He wouldn’t say anything, you both knew that, but you could tell he cared. You hadn’t missed the fear in his expression when he saw you sitting hurt on his office couch.
The two of you didn’t exchange a word while he took care of your bruises and blood.
“Keep the ice on,” he murmured, packing up the first aid kid and setting it back on the counter. “Drink?”
“Please. Something strong.”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” he replied, a hint of a smile playing at his lips. After he poured you a generous cup of scotch, he handed the glass to you, eyes focused once more on your bruises.
"I'm fine."
He just continued to stare, his jaw set once again.
"Thank you."
That caused him to soften.
"No one's ever-" you paused, gesturing towards the first aid kit- "done this for me before."
"I'm glad I could," he responded, before his brow furrowed. "Why didn't you call me?"
"I knew you'd be back at the office after I missed our dinner."
"How could you have possibly known that?"
"Because I know you, Harvey," you said gently. It was easier saying that, than saying you knew skipping dinner with him would hurt him.
"You know I know you too."
You tilted your head, eyebrows raised.
"The baths filling right now with warm water, with eucalyptus salts and bubbles."
"How did you-"
"Because I know you, Y/N." He'd moved closer, his knee touching yours where you still sat. You seemed to lose yourself in his eyes, feeling your heart pounding in your chest. You hadn't even realized he was closer until his lips were mere centimeters from yours.
"You can stop me, if you want," he whispered. He was being a gentleman, giving you an out. He wouldn't do it unless you specifically gave permission.
You didn't say anything, instead leaning forward to close the gap.

ok but like
imagine a sagau au where the reader isn't recognized by the acolytes
but they aren't being hunted down by them either
and in this au looking like the creator isn't a sin it just warrants a "damn must be truly blessed by the creator to be blessed with their face"
and the reader just kinda wants to see how long it takes for everyone to realize
also venti is the first to know and the reader literally begs him not to tell anyone
and they both just kinda
vibe as gods in disguise
Say My Name
In where you begin your journey in a fairly dull way, but that doesn't make it any less exciting.
Part two
Characters: Barbara, Noelle, Venti
Notes: Once again, I have made Venti a prominent character in a fic. I have grown far too attatched to him :( AND I WANTED TO MAKE THIS MORE ABOUT NOELLE BUT I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH ROOM BECAUSE VENTI'S FAT ASS TOOK UP ALL OF IT. And I didn't want to shove something in at the end, I thought it was a good stopping point so I didn't stretch the fic on longer than it needed to go. Anyways this was fun to write either way :)
warnings: fluff, cult behaviors, comical
Considering how extravagant and lively Teyvat is, your arrival was fairly dull.
You were freaking out of course, your heart beating out of your chest and breathing erratic. What were you supposed to do when you wake up in your favorite game? What was the right course of action?
Frankly, you thought you were dead or about to die. Teyvat is crawling with high level monsters. Maybe this was all a big fever dream?
You sighed, clutching your head, so many thoughts whirling around and yet none of them stayed long enough for you to get a good grasp of the situation or the best course of action.
But one thought remained consistent as your eyes drifted over to the path laid out before you. Mondstadt.
The moment you lay your eyes on the bridge leading to the Mondstadt gates you can't help yourself, running past Timmie's birds, shouting out a quick sorry to him, and sprinting as fast as you could to the gates. You slowed as you neared them and Lawrence - the gate guard - stopped you in your tracks.
"Greetings strange but respectable traveler!" He saluted, his eyes wide staring at you and you assumed it's because of the odd way you dressed, "May I ask what business you have in Mondstadt?"
"Oh! Just visiting." You grinned, feeling a tad bit dizzy at hearing his voice right in front of you and not just through your headphones. Not to mention the fact that his hair looked so real and nice.
He hummed and nodded, "Alright then, just don't cause any trouble." He waved you off.
That was easy... you mused. Though you didn't dwell on it and marveled at the wonderous city adorned with the high-noon sun and pretty flowers.
You could hear the humming of bards and birds, the sound of Flora selling her flowers, and of course Donna simping over Diluc.
It was all so familiar, from the people to the music and the tiles on the floor, it all felt like the beginning of your journey. Almost like home, you couldn't help but hum along to the merry music.
You passed by Katheryne and she waved at you knowingly but didn't say anything. You decided not to question her about it - Katheryne knew a lot of things anyways so you decided this was pretty in-character for her - and you waved back with a grin.
You wandered meaninglessly through the calming streets, still humming the tune. You came upon the fountain in the plaza and paused. Usually, you'd climb up the wall to get past but now you had to actually walk.
You chuckled, you weren't sure why but this was such a nice feeling and you sprinted to the left until you came upon a set of stairs. You climbed up them and made your way to Venti's large statue.
When you made it, you craned your neck up to take it all in, an awed smile on your face.
"Ah, are you a newcomer?" A nearby nun asked you, snapping you out of your dazed state.
"Oh! Uh- yeah I am!" You grinned sheepishly.
The nun hummed, smiling warmly, "You must be truly blessed to look so similar to our creator. You can go into the cathedral if you want to see our offerings to them." She nodded towards said building, "Hope you enjoy your stay in Mondstadt!" She waved, now even allowing you to get a word out before moving along.
You stared after her for a minute before whispering to yourself, "What the fuck-"
You turned back around and stared cautiously at the cathedral. What did she mean by creator? Stuff like this has never been mentioned in the lore before...
You'd been in the cathedral maybe a hundred times and had never seen anything that could be attributed to some... creator or whatever she meant by that.
So, naturally, you had to go and investigate.
The moment you entered those cathedral doors (with no loading screen separating the two anymore), your eyes immediately caught onto the shrine built on top of the rotating door. Two pairs of stairs leading up to it.
You gaped at the shrine, grand and well-kept, but what caught even more of your attention was the sheer amount of offerings left out at the base below the shrine. There was so much food and random shiny objects, some of which looked more than what you were worth.
Your jaw hang open at the sight, and you noticed you started to get some odd stares. You fixed your face and donned a more neutral expression, looking on at the shrine curiously.
"Ah, first time in Mondstadt's cathedral?" said a soft and familiar voice.
You whipped your head around to face Barbara, her sparkling eyes fixed onto you.
You composed yourself - both at the scene in front of you and the fact you just met Barbara face-to-face - "Yeah, it is."
"You look so much like our beloved creator!" She exclaimed, "It must be such an honor to be blessed with their lovely face!"
"U-uhm..." You stuttered, sending her an awkward smile, "I suppose so."
Her eyes shifted and you felt a jolt of unease in your chest, sinking into your heart, "Sorry, I'm just not used to Mondstadt's customs. We practice things quite differently where I'm from."
"Oh! Sorry then," Barbara frowned, "I didn't mean any disrespect, I just wanted to make sure you weren't disrespecting our creator in any ways. I suppose in the end it didn't do any good."
You hummed non-committedly and gazed back upon the shrine. There was a statue of the supposed creator upon there and unconsciously you took steps towards it. As you gazed up at it, it was as though you were looking into a mirror.
The statue was an exact replica of you, in every way shape and form it was you.
"It truly is remarkable how alike you two are," Barbara smiled up at the statue, pure devotion in her eyes, "It was an honor to look upon you and see an image that so wonderously reflects our creator's." She smiled at you.
You nodded and she left with a wave. A few moments later you left the church.
*~
The problems in this perfect world arose when your stomach started to growl and you realized...
You had no mora.
"Goddamnit I'm having a Zhongli moment," You cursed the gods (specifically Venti and Zhongli) for not giving you mora when you arrived to Teyvat.
Although you didn't have to worry about that for long, oddly enough. When you were eyeing Good Hunters, a kind little lady approached you.
"E-excuse me," Her cute voice cracked and your eyes met with Noelle's, "Are you hungry? I could um-" Her eyes diverted away from yours but always seemed to come back to stare into your eyes, "I could make you something if you so wish."
You gasped, your face lighting up in a smile that reddened Noelle's cheeks, "Really? Oh! I'd love to try some of your Tea Break Pancakes- oh! Ah, nevermind. You don't have to." You waved her offer off, "I don't even have any mora on me."
"That's fine." She grinned, "Consider it... a gift to our creator. A celebration of how much you look like them."
"Ah," You couldn't help the surprised smile that tugged up at the corners of your lips, "That's- I mean I appreciate it but I'm sure there's much better uses you could use with your time-"
"Nonsense! I insist," Her resolve was as sturdy as the sword you'd given her, "A little treat of mine."
"I-" Your stomach interrupted any argument you were going to make, "Fine..." You sighed, "But I owe you okay? If you ever need anything just ask me."
She agreed and made you the meal, which you excitedly watched her make. It was so surreal watching Noelle make the pancakes instead of just pressing a couple buttons.
Even still she made those pancakes in record time, you were impressed.
"Thank you so much Noelle! Really, you're carrying Mondstadt on your shoulders." You giggled.
Her face flushed a bright red and she waved her hands dismissively, "Oh no no no, I don't do that much. I'm... not even a knight yet." She frowned.
"Well," You said in-between bites, "You do as much if not more than the knights do. Don't put yourself down just 'cause you're not official yet."
Your smile, a replica of the ones on the statue but brighter and more personal caused Noelle to feel nearly dizzy.
"You're far too kind... Oh! Dear, where are my manners?" She huffed, "What's your name?"
"Oh! It's (Name)." You held out your hand but she didn't take it immediately.
She tilted her head, her eyes narrowed in confusion, "Isn't that... the creator's name? Did your parents name you that?"
Your mind blanked. Why the hell does this creator person have my face and my name?
You chuckled, "They did."
Noelle hummed and nodded along, "It's a bit unusual but not like it's against the law or anything," She shrugged and took your hand, "It's nice to meet you (name). I'm Noelle, though it seems you already knew that..?"
You nodded, "Yeah, I've heard of you. You're the best maid in Mondstadt. Who knows, maybe the best maid in all of Teyvat." You chuckled as her face bloomed into color once more.
"Truly, you flatter me too much," She fanned her face in an attempt to get rid of the heat, "...have you really heard of me outside of Mondstadt."
Without hesitation, you nodded while biting into the pancake, "Of course!" You technically weren't lying. You'd heard of her outside of Mondstadt... and outside of Teyvat... in your world. So it was technically true.
She covered her mouth with her hand, her eyes lit up in wonder, and a soft giggle escaped her throat, "Aha, I'm so happy..."
Without thinking, you reached over and patted her head. She had stars in her eyes. "I'm glad," You said, "You deserve it."
*~
You and Noelle had talked throughout the entire day. She had often went to go and help people and you tried your best to help her as well. Finding stray cats, helping children find lost items or getting them down from high places, collecting and delivering items for people.
You did your best to nudge Noelle away from accepting every little thing that came her way, but majority of the time she'd end up helping the person. So you settled for helping lessen her load by helping her complete the tasks instead.
When night time finally rolled around Noelle finally bid you good night and you were hesitant to leave her because...
You had nowhere to stay.
The dark Mondstadt streets, only lit up by the few streetlights still lit by candles and night owls still awake inside their houses creeped you out.
Where would you stay? You couldn't stay outside for too long, it was freezing and you only had the clothes on your back.
Maybe you could sneak into Angel's Share and sleep in the rafters? That way you'd stay warm and they were open 24/7 you believed.
Maybe you should just tell someone you got transported here from another world. That's what the Traveler did and now they're a renowned hero with a teapot to live in...
Teapot... Teapot! If you could find the Teapot...
"Shit! Where did I last set it down..." You scrounged through your memory, praying it wasn't in the inventory. You had no clue how to access that or if you even could access it.
You recalled... teleporting to Windrise to grab some crystalflies and heal up... and opening up your teapot. That's where it is then. Or at least you hoped.
Even if it wasn't there, sleeping in the big Windrise tree didn't sound like a bad idea. So long as you didn't freeze to death.
With that in mind you set out to begin your walk to Windrise, sending a wave to Katheryne as you left. She wished you good luck which made your heart swell. Her eyes always seemed to know too much... but in this case it was quite comforting.
You also waved goodbye to the guards outside Mondstadt's gate, and they saluted with kind smiles.
You hummed, tiredly making your way across the bridge once more. What a lovely day in Mondstadt, you mused to yourself, humming the quiet nighttime tune.
*~
Your legs were jelly by the time you made it to Windrise, silently thanking the gods that you weren't attacked on the way there. Tiredly, you looked around the statue and the tree for any sign of your teapot and...
nothing. Absolutely nothing.
With a groan, you sat down at the base of the statue, burying your head in your hands, too tired to hold your head up on your own.
You just needed to shut your eyes for a moment...
*~
You blinked your eyes open as the sun glared at you. Squinting up, you noticed you were now laying at the base of the statue.
You paused as a melody filled your ears, close by and unfamiliar. You turned your head to see a bard - your bard - playing the lyre and humming a tune.
"Ah, you're finally awake." He grinned, "What were you doing sleeping outside by the statue?"
You groggily sat up, "Venti?" You groaned, "I was just... traveling and ended up falling asleep."
He hummed, "You know my name?"
Goddamnit-
You nodded, "Yes, you're quite the famous bard aren't you?" The excuse flew naturally off your tongue, it wasn't necessarily a lie either.
Venti giggled, his fingers idly plucking a tune, "Quite the charmer aren't you? Though, can't say you're entirely incorrect. I am the best bard in the world! Most famous though? I can't really say." He leaned in, his face nearly touching yours, "So, how do you know me hm? You just arrived to Mondstadt yesterday after all and I don't believe you ever caught my name or even saw me."
"...You were watching me?" You questioned, your eyes narrowed.
Venti faked an offended gasp, "You make me sound like a criminal! I was merely observing my surroundings. I saw you, an odd looking traveler, and had to observe you for a bit of time. Can't blame me for being a little curious." His grin was sly and it made you roll your eyes.
"Still a bit creepy if you ask me, especially for an apparently not-so-famous bard." You challenged him, your eyes sharp as they dug into him.
He shrugged, "I gotta watch over Mondstadt. I love the city with my life, you know. Now answer the question, how do you know me?" His eyes were so playful for such a scathing question.
You hummed, surprisingly calm given how wrong this could go, "How do you think I know you, bard?"
He giggled, "Asking me the questions now are you?" His fingers switched up and started playing a much more familiar tune. One he shouldn't know, "Perhaps you've been watching me for a long time now. And whenever I saw your eyes I just knew they were the same ones that had been watching me for countless months. Hm?"
Your eyes shot open, "How do you know that song?"
"I know every song," His teal eyes sparkled with mischief and glee, "Past present and future."
Your jaw slackened, but you couldn't help the grin that tugged at your lips.
"I suppose I wasn't aware of just how far your knowledge reached, O' Anemo Archon." You snickered, and jokingly bowed.
Venti giggled, his fingers stopping his playing so he could mockingly bow back, "And I suppose I wasn't aware of how stubborn you are, O' Great Creator."
"What?" Your playful nature halted in its tracks as you stared at Venti, dumbfounded.
He blinked, confused, "Huh?"
You shook your disbelief away with a shake of your head and a laugh, "Did you just call me Teyvat's God?" You chuckled, "Then should I call you your friend's name?"
A flash of hurt took over his eyes, he whined, "Huh? What do they have to do with this, your grace?"
"What?" Dread crawled into the back of your throat, "Cut it out Venti, don't joke like that."
"But I'm not joking, your grace. Did you- did you not know?" His eyes were wide and glassy, "I'm sorry..."
You blinked owlishly, "Wha- you're serious? I thought- I thought I just looked like them!"
"I thought that was your intention!" Venti cried, "I thought this was like- a test of loyalty or something!"
"No! What? Am I actually-" You couldn't force the words out as you stared Venti in the eyes, stunned.
"Y-yes!" He shouted, "You're the creator! I can sense it! So can the slimes and animals. Don't you see?" He pointed to the nearby birds, their gaze turned towards you, "They like you! The monsters don't attack you and this statue calls out to you! Don't you feel its warmth? It's probably why you didn't freeze last night."
You were silent as the information processed, "So- so wait!" You turned your body fully facing Venti, "That shrine in the cathedral... was for me?" You asked, bewildered.
He nodded, "Yeah! Did- did you really not know?"
Immediately you were wildly shaking your head, "No! I just- I dunno! I thought I was like the traveler or something that just got dropped off here one day."
"The traveler came here of their own free will, (Name)!" Venti sighed, "I just- You look exactly like them too!"
"Listen! Denial is a powerful think, okay!" You huffed.
"Fine, I get it." He rested his head on his hands, his eyes meeting yours, "So... are you gonna tell the others?"
"... Dunno." You shrugged, "What would happen if I did?"
"Well..." Venti tapped his finger against his face and used his other hand to hold up his pointer finger, "Zhongli would go batshit. He's got a whole log up his ass when it comes to you and how to 'properly worship you' bleh." Venti stuck his tongue out, "Then there's Baal, she'll probably also go insane over you. She's like a lost puppy." He held up a third finger, "Then there's Jean and the knights. I think they'd be... alright. If you told them they'd try and throw huge festivals for you and worship you. Oh, and the church would triple their worshipping for you, obviously."
You roughly sighed, "So... I won't be treated as a human is what you're saying."
"I mean- well- yeah." He frowned, "Don't worry, I get it if you don't wanna do a whole grand reveal. It's stressful. Too much work, y'know?"
You hummed in agreement, "The thing is..." You frowned, "We don't have any mora."
Venti scoffed, straightening his back with a proud grin, "Speak for yourself! I have a mora."
You snorted, "A mora."
"Hey, better than what you're doing," He took off his hat, "It's right in here-"
You both stared at the hat that was almost as empty as your souls.
"Okay well," Venti put his hat back on, "Nothing a little begging can't do. Not like I haven't played music for money before."
You stared at the ground hopelessly, "...so... how do you think Ningguang would react to me telling her I'm the creator?"
Venti snorted, "I like the way you think but... she'd be grand. I think she'd make you live in the Jade Chamber and give you every little thing you could ever want. She can keep a secret though I'll bet."
You hummed and stared at Venti, living a life as free as a bird. Even with the status of the Anemo Archon, he was as free as his people, and just as happy as them as well.
"Not really the life I wanna live... what about Childe?"
Venti shuddered, "I love you (Name), but no. He makes... quite a spectacle of things. And, well," Venti frowned, "He'd probably leave a few corpses at your doorstep."
"Ah," You grimaced, "Okay so... we're fucked."
"Ah ah ah," Venti waggled his finger comically, "Don't you remember what I said? I can sing for money, and I'm sure with you, the creator's look-alike right by my side helping me with my performance, we'd make double the money! I mean," His eyes were alight with mischievous glee, an expression on him you were coming to dread, "That Noelle girl yesterday had no problem giving you a free meal just cause you look like the creator! So I'm sure we'll pull in lots of cash!"
You frowned and then a lightbulb went off in your head, "Wait a minute," Venti raised a brow, intrigued, "If I'm the supposed creator or god of this world... then those offerings at the altars and shrines are meant for me... right?"
Venti nodded with a tilt of his head, "Yes? ...Oh... Oh!" His eyes lit up like Christmas lights, "You mean-?"
You grinned, "So that means that if I were to... let's say... take the items and sell them, it wouldn't be wrong right?"
Venti tilted his head back and laughed, "No, I suppose it wouldn't be, your grace."
Your grin was damn near evil, "Then I suppose we have our plan then."
Venti nodded, "I suppose we do!" He hopped up and grabbed your hand to help you up as well, "Though I think my singing idea was pretty good." He kicked his legs up like a child as you both made your way back to Mondstadt, "Who knows, I might even become the most famous bard in all of Teyvat with you by my side!"
You hummed, smiling fondly at the silly bard at your side, "Perhaps."

THE GIRLS (FOURTEEN AND DONNA) ARE FIGHTIIIINNNGGG'
aka Donna has some lingering Feelings on the whole mind wipe thing and she's gonna shout about it <3
The Mess That's Made of Us
She didn’t mean for an outburst. They were having a calm, rational, adult discussion, not a fight. She didn’t even want a fight, not really. But The Doctor, he couldn’t just let it go and let her sort out her big stupid feelings on her own. No, he had to needle, he had to inquire, he had to push. He had to say that “everything had turned out all right, in the end”, and oh, that so wasn’t the fucking point. Nearly choking on the words, she yells out, “What would you have done?!”
After he startles and she has a moment to be thankful no one else is home right now, he’s shockingly even when he replies, “You..you know what I did.”
She lets out a right and proper growl of frustration. Clenching and unclenching her fists a few times in an attempt to ground herself, she grits out, “Not what I meant.”
“Donna, I don’t-”
“I meant, you pedantic little-”
She cuts herself off, takes in a deep breath in and out through her nose, and tries again. “I meant if our roles had been swapped. If I had been the one to take that year away from you, if you were about to have an essential part of the person you had become stripped all away in a moment. How would you have reacted? What. Would you. Have done?”
“I..”
She doesn’t let him finish, collect his thoughts, say pretty words that would fix it all. See, she can push, and push, and push too, now can’t she, Doctor? Generally, Donna doesn’t consider herself a cruel person. Sometimes oblivious, sometimes obnoxious, sometimes inconsiderate, but not cruel. But she knows she’s capable of it. She knows, if she so desires, she can hurt someone. She’s not trying to hurt The Doctor, except that she is, not to wound but to pull him to where she is right now. To make the grief and the rage and the conflict be shared. So she keeps going. “It’s not the same though, right? No, of course not. One year out of a billion, maybe more, that doesn’t make much of a difference, does it? Like forgetting what you had for breakfast that morning, barely a breath. I bet it would’ve been so easy, for you.”
“Donna!”
When he says it, his face is hard, and frustrated, but not cold. That’s something she’s still getting used to, with this new-old face. He used to have the coldest rage she ever saw, standing like a stranger. Now, he doesn’t tend to rage at all. It’s enough to make her clamp her mouth and actually listen for a second.
“Respectfully, what the hell are you talking about? Barely a breath, easy for me? Do you really believe that our time together meant that little to me? Do you really not understand by now? I mean, look at my face, Donna. And this is the second time that I’m completely rearranged myself in memory of you! One day with you changedme. One full year with you? Rewrote me.
So yes, removing my time with you would’ve made a difference. It would’ve made all the difference in the universe. And I don’t know what I would’ve done. If I had to get rid of the part of me that was made from you. I’m not sure I could.”
Such pretty words. And, well, the face in front of her right now does suggest some truth to them. But she can’t quite believe them, and she can’t quite look at said face, so instead her vision drifts over to the Tardis parked outside their kitchen window. Folding her arms and staring listlessly, she counters, “Yeah? Don’t you think you would’ve, I dunno, blinked and gone ‘oh that’s odd’ before putting on one of those manic smiles and inputting the coordinates to Venus in the 15th century, and that would’ve been that?”
Out of the corner of her eye, The Doctor’s face goes through a rapid series of motions that she can almost sort out, before stopping at realization. Oh. She didn’t like that one bit.
“Ah, that’s what you think did happen, huh? You think I flew away in my box and had magical adventures and found someone else in a day. It would make sense, right? Start pallin’ around with the nearest redhead I could find, forget all about me ol’ mate Donna, it’s not like she was gonna remember, so why should I?”
She sniffs, and tilts her face up, and resolutely does not let any tears fall. She also does not look at him.
“Donna, there was no one else, not until I was someone else. You want to know what happened, after I lost you? I broke. And then died. There was no me without you.”
Fuck. He changes his tune then, and she’s pretty sure they’re no longer fighting. They’ve always lacked a talent for it. He comes closer, placing both his hands gently on top of her still crossed arms, and moves until she has to look him in the eye. He even throws in a smile. Damn him to hell, he knows it’s near impossible for her to see her best friend smiling and start smiling a bit herself.
With a breath that borders on being a laugh, he continues, “But you! You got married, and yelled at parking attendants, and had a kid, and you existed. And I can’t regret that, I can’t. So I’m sorry, I really am. I ignored your pleas, and I took some of you away, and I’d do it again. I’d do it every time.”
She lets out a sigh and lets her arms drop to the sides. “I know.”
Wiping a hand down her face, she mixes a huff and a shrug. “Honestly, Doctor? I think I’ve already forgiven you.”
With a nod, she stands up straight and tells him straight, “I think I forgave you the moment it happened. I just..I just need time. I know it’s been years but I’ve only been able to think on it for a week.”
“I understand. Hell, there’s things that take me a couple thousand years to process, so.”
Donna rolls her eyes and let’s out a small chuckle, before opening her arms and saying, “C’mere, spaceman.”
The Doctor quite readily does, and the hug fits just as naturally as it always has. They take a moment to breathe together, and Donna gets to listen to the comforting double rhythm of the two healthy hearts in his chest. The silence is comfortable and the sharpness has eased.
When she pulls back, she can’t help but ask, “Wait, second face? What was the other one?”
“Ah. About that-”

Anonymous: a travis concept that maybe you could get out today; travis x wife!reader where it’s game day and they bring their two kids and it goes through the whole day and travis ends up losing the game and they meet in the tunnel and try to comfort him but he ends up at snapping at them not meaning to and they makeup when they get home
This one makes me sad!! But it ends well!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Alex. I don’t want to have to tell you again. Please put your shoes on.” You watched as your son continued to play with his toys even though you had told him multiple times you needed to be out of the house in the next 20 minutes. “Alex, listen. Let’s go.” Travis commanded as he walked by the room, Alex immediately complying. “How do you do that?” You asked as you walked behind Travis into the living room. Travis just shrugged. “I don’t know. He just listens.” You rolled your eyes, picking Savannah up from her play pen. “What time is kickoff?” “4:30, I’ll see you guys after the game.” Travis gave you a quick kiss before he headed out the door. Alex came running at the sound of the garage door closing. “Daddy didn’t say bye!” He whined, tears starting to stream down his face. “We’re going to see him in a couple of hours, baby.” That did nothing to calm Alex as he started throwing a tantrum. You were quick to change the subject. “Hey, let’s go. We need to pick up Gama and Poppa before we go to the game.” He immediately perked up at the thought of getting to see his grandparents, running to the door. You loaded the kids in the SUV and headed to the suburbs to pick Donna and Ed up.
“Alex, you excited to see Daddy, play?” Donna asked from the front seat as you headed to the stadium. “Yeah”, Alex nodded, his focus on his Transformers toy. “How have the mornings been going?” Donna leaned into you. You kept your eyes on the road, letting out a sigh. You had confided to your mother-in-law multiple times about how much of a struggle it was to get Alex to get dressed or leave the house on time. “He was better today. I don’t know how Travis does it, but I’ll have to tell Bub multiple times to get ready. He says it once and Alex listens.” Donna chuckled. “I know that too well. Alex adores Travis but he’s away a lot. Kids always listen better to the one not constantly telling them what to do.” You nodded your head in agreement.
The stadium was already packed even though you arrived two hours before kickoff. You parked in the players section underneath the stadium and headed to your box. You usually sat in the stands, but with the kids, you enjoyed having a confined space where they could roam around without a fear of losing them. Brittney was already in the box with her kiddos, taking in the players stretching on the field from the window. “Hi girlie!” She addressed you when she saw you walk in with Alex and Savannah. Alex immediately ran up to the window, plastering his face on the glass as he searched for Travis. “Mama! I see Daddy!” he shouted, pointing frantically. He started jumping up and down, stumbling over his own feet. “Alex, can you sit down please?” You were afraid of him falling and hurting himself. “Alex, please.” You had one more polite ask in you. “No!” Alex yelled, continuing to jump. You grabbed his hand gently and guided him to the chair. “Alex, please sit. If you don’t behave, we will have to leave.” You whispered into his ear so the room couldn’t hear you scold him, but his reaction was enough to let everyone know. “I don’t want to! I want Daddy!” Ed quickly intervened. “Hey Bub, let’s go downstairs and watch your dad warm up.” You mouthed a thank you to your father-in-law as they left the box. With Alex taken care of and Savannah sleeping, you were finally able to sit down and relax.
To say that Travis was playing terribly would be an understatement. They were well into the second quarter and Travis hadn’t completed one play. You had your phone in one hand, scrolling through twitter, wincing at the insults people were throwing at Travis. “I don’t know why you do that to yourself.” Ed sat down next to you, giving you a sympathetic look. You laughed. “In my head, I’ve convinced myself that if I take all the blows, Travis won’t have to internalize everything.” You know it sounded stupid, but you loved your husband so much, and you’d do anything to protect him, even from the internet trolls.
The announcer came over the speakers of the box, everyone listening intently. “The Chiefs are down one touchdown tonight with two minutes left in the game. If Mahomes and Kelce don’t connect on this next play, they will have their first lost at home this season.” You held your breath as Patrick snapped the ball, looking for an opening to Travis. He threw the ball, and it was immediately intercepted by the Eagles defense, the opposing team making it 25 yards before they were tackled. There was a collective groan from the crowd, some spectators leaving before the clock even ran out. You lingered in the box, watching Alex and Savannah playing. You were trying to avoid going down to see Travis, knowing he wasn’t going to be in a good mood. “Y/N, ready to head down?” Donna called out to you, and you gathered the babies as you walked out.
Travis was the last player to leave the locker room, the family areas pretty much empty by the time he walked out. He gave both of his parents a hug before turning his attention to Savannah, picking her up and giving her a kiss on the cheek. “Hey, baby”, he leaned down to give you a kiss. Alex’s energy had only increased as the game went on, and he was trying to leave the area, Donna and Ed having a hard time containing him. He was running around hitting things with a foam finger his grandparents had bought for him. “Alex, please stop running.” You called after him, but he might as well have not heard you. He took off full speed and ran into a table, knocking over a glass vase. It fell down to the floor with a crash, glass pieces spreading everywhere. You huffed, frustrated but not wanting to scare Alex. Travis was already tired and had enough of the day. This incident just set him off. “ALEX! SIT DOWN NOW!” Alex stopped in his tracks. Until this point, Travis had never yelled at his kids, yet alone raised his voice. The sound alone scared Alex, who immediately started sobbing. “Mama!” He ran over to you, asking to be picked up. You looked at Travis, furious with him. “Get your shit together, Travis.” You edged out through clenched teeth, Travis’ face dropping immediately. You walked off with Alex to try to console him.
The car ride home was very quiet; you were still furious at your husband, and both kids were asleep. Travis grabbed both kids out of the car and headed into the house, you trailing behind him. Alex had basically woken up, his nose still red from crying earlier. He usually always took a nap with his dad post game, but he didn’t want to be anywhere near Travis. Travis immediately regretted what he said to Alex, but he wasn’t sure how he was going to explain to a two-year-old that he was just having a bad day. He found you in Savannah’s nursery, unpacking the diaper bag. “Don’t even say anything. I don’t want to hear it.” Travis was expecting to be chastised by you, so he remained quiet. You were still fuming. You had discussed how you wanted to parent with Travis many times before, and always agreed that no matter what was going on personally, you would not take it out on your kids. His silence was starting to tick you off; you wanted him to grovel. “I’ll only say this. Don’t you ever talk to Alex like that again. You know better.” Travis nodded his head, rubbing his hair as you walked out.
As you were getting the babies ready for bed, Travis walked into Alex’s room. Alex had already forgotten the incident hours ago, but Travis knew it was important to apologize to him anyway. “Hi, Daddy!” You watched from the bed as Travis picked up Bubba and sat down in the rocking chair. “Alex, Daddy is sorry. He didn’t mean to yell at you today. He just had a bad game. Do you forgive me?” Alex immediately wrapped his little arms around Travis’ neck. “Yes, Daddy.” He nodded. Travis tickled Alex, making his shriek and giggle. “Thank you, Bubs. Now, do you think I can get Mama to forgive me too?” Alex slipped off of Travis’ lap and ran over to you. He placed his little hands on your cheeks and placed a kiss on your nose like you did to him every night before bed. “Mama, Daddy apogized, do you fogive him?” You giggled, your resolve weakening at the sight of this little mediator in front of you. “Of course, Bubba, always.” You looked at Travis who mouthed an apology to you. “It’s okay”, you whispered back to him.

Almost Too Far Gone (Tenth Doctor)
Tumblr media

Is there anything you can't do?
“Not anymore.”
Those two words. Two innocuous, innocent words. As soon as they left the Doctor’s mouth, pure, cold dread washed over you. You felt fear unlike that which you’d ever felt before coursing through your system. You’d felt fear before, yes. You’d been taken hostage by aliens. Almost tortured by Daleks. Almost lost the Doctor and the Doctor had almost lost you, too.
But this? Fear brought on by someone you trust- breaking that trust? Someone as powerful as the Doctor? No. You wanted to go home. Now. Quietly, as the Doctor was watching Captain Adelaide Brooke walk up the street and towards her house, you crept backwards back through the TARDIS doors. You’d set it for home and set the TARDIS to go back and find him after you’d left the doors and left him.
God, leaving the Doctor. It was a thought you’d never entertained before the last few months. Since Donna, since Rose. He’d changed. He was becoming something new, something he shouldn’t be. If the Doctor from even one year ago could see himself now… he’d be horrified.
Rushing towards the console, you swiped at your cheeks, pulling your hands back to see tears collected on your skin. You hadn’t even realised you were crying. You steeled yourself and hurriedly wiped the rest of the tears away before looking towards the console.
“I- I don’t know if you can hear me, or… if you’re going to help me, but- but please- I need to go home.”
The TARDIS was silent for a moment as if in contemplation. You’d spoken to her before when you were in the console room by yourself, but you’d never asked her for anything before. You were terrified she wouldn’t listen. You wanted to just slip away and leave the Doctor to do whatever he felt he needed to do. No goodbyes. You weren’t sure you could handle them.
The TARDIS booted up, starting the process of taking off. You let out a sob. It’s a sob of relief and of terrible sadness. God, how are you supposed to do this? You can picture the Doctor outside, those sad eyes betraying his heartbreak as someone else leaves him too.
“Home?”
You shout, not having realised the Doctor was standing in the doorway. You didn’t turn to look at him. Your arms shook with the effort of not breaking down. You’d told him that he and the TARDIS were your home before all this. It was still true to this day.
“I thought… I thought we were your home. You and me- travelling the stars.” You can hear the set of his jaw from where you stand. You slowly start to turn, tears streaming freely down your cheeks. “That not true anymore, eh?”
“Of course it’s true,” you shout, pain ripping through your vocal cords. “I fucking love you, Doctor!”
The Doctor narrows his eyes, shielding himself from the possibility of letting someone back in. Of letting you in.
“Then why are you leaving?”
You scoff angrily, wiping at the tears hard enough to leave marks. You chew on your lip for a moment, trying to bring yourself to say the words.
“I’m scared of you.”
There, you’d said them. You’d given life to those four words that had been haunting you the last few months. At first, you’d just thought your anxiety was on a higher alert than usual. It was not necessarily unusual to have flare-ups like this, but then it persisted, and it never seemed to go away. And one day the Doctor gave you this look- this charged, dangerous look and you knew with absolute clarity that that was what it was. You were afraid of what he could do. What he could let himself do.
“You- what?” He looks almost angry for a second before it melts to confusion.
You cross your arms, wishing you had a bubble that you could hide in.
“I’m scared of you. You’re changing. You’re changing timelines and saving people you shouldn’t. You’re changing things and you’re- you’re becoming a threat.” You sucked in a shaky breath, tears falling faster over your cheeks. “I want to be with you, but- this is not okay. I don’t know how to- to- to help you. You don’t want to be helped.”
The Doctor was very quiet for a solid few moments, taking in the words you’d let forth like a slew of vomit. He nodded, stepping forward, looking at anything but you.
“I see,” is all he replied with at first. “Well, if you want to go back then I won’t stop you.”
Your lip quivers.
“Is that all you have to say?”
“What do you want me to say? We’re supposed to be friends- partners. And I come back inside to find you-” he breaks off, gesturing wildly with his hands as he looks for the words. “Sneaking off without so much as a goodbye, I mean- and you’re afraid of me? Afraid?!”
You flinched as he came closer. He was so upset, and it only served to make you feel that much worse.
“I saved you! I- I had- I have the power to save you!” The Doctor carded fingers through his hair erratically. You let out a quiet sob, shakes wracking your form.
“I- oh fuck.” It’s the first time you think you’ve ever heard him swear. “Oh, what am I doing? What’s- what’s happened to me?”
You’re quiet as he has this epiphany. You’re too worried to be hopeful that he might be seeing the light. Seeing how far gone he’s gotten. It takes him a moment, but then he’s looking up at you in horror. Not horror with you, but horror at himself. He knows. He’s finally realised the gravity of it all.
“Oh, my- Darling, please- forgive me?”
You bite on your lip, looking away. You know if he looks at you like that you’ll give him whatever he wants.
“I have so much making up to do, please- let me- let me start with you. I understand, I promise. You were scared. You are scared. I’m going to be better. If you want to go, I’ll- I’ll take you home,” he steps forward, reaching for you. “But if you want to stay. I promise you, I will be better.”
You force yourself to look at him. He looks desperate, reaching for you like if only he could just… touch you- everything would be okay.
“I don’t know,” you whisper. “I want to, but-”
“Say yes,” he replied softly. “If you want to, then say yes. Please.”
You contemplate this before deciding that the sincerity in his eyes is enough to believe him. You nod, and he’s on you in seconds, wrapping you up in his arms and visibly melting with relief. You wrap your arms around his back, rubbing comforting circles onto the back of his coat as he begins to cry.
“I’ll be better, I promise,” he whispers, burying his face in your neck. “I promise.”

Here’s my little gift to you. I hope you enjoy. (P.S. yes there will be an epilogue :>)

ENGLAND, THE STREETS OF LONDON — DAY, 2023
The world descends into turmoil and pandemonium as cars collide, their metal frames screeching against each other. The air is filled with the cacophony of people shouting and screaming. Amidst the mayhem, you, the Doctor, and Donna navigate the tumult, pushing Wilf's wheelchair through the chaotic landscape. Struggling through the disarray, people around you engage in fights and heated arguments, adding to the surreal spectacle of disorder unfolding.
As the rumble of a truck engine grows louder, a man defiantly strides onto the road, seemingly prepared to challenge the oncoming driver. Reacting swiftly, both you and the Doctor extend your arms, urgently intervening. You exclaim, "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Excuse me. Can you tell me, what the bloody hell are you doing?"
The elderly man, with an air of self-assuredness, retorts, "I can’t drive."
Perplexed, you furrow your brow and inquire, "Okay, so— Which means?"
Meanwhile, a car behind you impatiently honks, prompting the Doctor to raise his hand, signaling the driver to wait. Unperturbed, the stranger in front of you explains, "I pay my taxes. Which means I paid for this road. It is mine, and I will do with it what I like."
The Doctor interjects, cautioning, "You’ll get yourself killed."
The man, with a sneer and a narrowed gaze, replies, "It’s my life, not yours." Undeterred, the Doctor suggests, "But you could just stand over there and be safe."
Flailing his arms emphatically, the man retorts, "Blame them! Because it all changed two days ago. Everyone started thinking they’re right all the time. And they won’t change their mind. If you try to argue, they go mad. Well, not me. I’ve always been right."
The deafening honk of the truck intensifies as it barrels forward, compelling the Doctor to swiftly seize you and yank you out of harm's way. In the chaos, you unintentionally collide with a well-dressed man adorned in a tuxedo, complete with a top hat and a staff in his left hand. Apologizing in a refined manner, he utters, "Oh, excusez-moi, madame et monsieur, je suis désolé. But perhaps you will dance avec moi."
He then takes the lead in an impromptu dance, placing his hand just above your waist and swaying with you amidst the bedlam unfolding on the street. In a rather peculiar tone, he utters, "Ooh la la."
Feeling uncomfortable, you gently pull away from the eccentric stranger. The Doctor, sensing your unease, protectively tucks you behind his body and asserts, "That's my wife, sir. Excuse me." With a subtle maneuver, he guides you away, back to where Donna and Wilf are positioned on the side of the street.
Amidst the cacophony of screaming voices echoing through the chaotic streets, the peculiar stranger continues his solo dance, creating a bizarre spectacle in the midst of the turmoil. The distant whirr of a helicopter above adds to the disconcerting atmosphere, leaving you and the Doctor with a growing sense of panic, a shared feeling of confusion about the unfolding events.
Armored vehicles roll onto the scene, their imposing presence and military precision contrasting sharply with the chaotic backdrop. A soldier, wielding a loud megaphone, calls out with urgency, "Attention, the Doctor and the Stargazer! Attention, the Doctor and the Stargazer! Stay where you are. You are UNIT control. Repeat, UNIT control."
The soldiers swiftly move into action, their movements coordinated as they converge on your location. One of them confidently asserts, "Go, go, go! Let’s move! Eyes on, eyes on! I got them." The atmosphere shifts from anarchic confusion to a semblance of organized control as UNIT takes charge.
The authoritative figure from UNIT, Colonel Ibrahim, strides forward, a no-nonsense expression etched on his face. "Doctor, Stargazer, I’m Colonel Ibrahim of UNIT squad five," he declares with military precision. He gestures toward a waiting vehicle, a subtle urgency in his stance.
Donna, the voice of concern, steps forward, her plea directed at the Colonel. "Get him to safety. All right? Never mind about us. I want my grandad safe. All right? You got that?" Her words carry the weight of a granddaughter determined to ensure the safety of her grandad, emphasizing the weight of the situation.
Colonel Ibrahim gives an assertive nod, his military demeanor unwavering. "Yes, ma’am. We’ll keep your family safe," he assures Donna. Wilf, displaying concern for his granddaughter's well-being, encourages her, "You go with the Doctor."
Amidst the organized chaos of UNIT soldiers following orders, a palpable sense of unease settles over you. A feeling of being observed intensifies, prompting you to instinctively clasp the Doctor’s hand. Together, your hearts quicken as you turn to the left, discovering the stranger with whom you shared an odd dance. He stands eerily still, offering a disconcerting smile and a small wave, sending shivers down your spine.

UNIT HEADQUARTERS, LONDON — DAY, 2023
Seated alongside the Doctor in the first helicopter, you peer out of the window, taking in the chaotic scene below. The city is ablaze, casting an eerie glow that turns the world outside into a disorienting spectacle, as if the very fabric of reality has been upended. The second helicopter follows closely, bearing the weight of the TARDIS, an emblem of hope amidst the turmoil. The flickering flames paint a surreal canvas against the night sky, leaving you with a profound sense of displacement.
The helicopter sets down on the helipad at the UNIT headquarters, and as you disembark, the brisk wind from the rotor blades whips through the air. Donna clutches her coat tightly, shouting over the din, "Oh, here comes trouble."
Shirley, in her wheelchair, wheels forward with a wide smile, greeting you with a warm, "I could say the same thing about you." The TARDIS touches down nearby on the helipad, and amidst the noise, the Doctor remarks, "Shirley, you can’t be serious." Shirley squeezes your arm in a friendly greeting.
Chief Scientific Officer Kate, your boss, appears on the scene, her short blonde hair bouncing slightly as she strides towards the group. The Doctor, arms outstretched, exclaims, "And Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. I remember your father working night and day to keep UNIT a secret. Look at you now. Out and proud defending the Earth."
Kate embraces the Doctor tightly before turning to you with a subdued smile, saying, "I fought them all. Robots and insects and yetis and clones. But what do we do this time, Doctor? How do we fight the human race?"
Inside the UNIT headquarters, the large steel doors close behind you, shutting out the chaos. The new HQ unfolds before your eyes, with the hum of radio chatter and the bustle of people. Multiple screens and tables with keyboards fill the room, and a triple giant screen at the center displays various statistics and news outlets reporting the devastation around the world.
Kate hands the tablet to the Doctor, and you lean over to peer at the symbols and graphs displayed on it. The Doctor, engrossed in the data, doesn't look up as he remarks, "Good, good, good. Now, what have we got? Are these worldwide? 'Cause I'm gonna need all of the statistics."
As he turns to his right, an exclamation of surprise escapes him. Your gaze follows his, and there stands a very familiar redheaded companion and colleague. She grins at the Doctor's reaction, and he joyfully exclaims, "Oh! That is the best news! Melanie, hello!"
Both you and the Doctor share a brief hug with Mel, who giggles and adds, "We'll catch up later. We haven't got time." You chime in with a playful, "Ta-da! Surprise, Doctor."
Turning to you, the Doctor asks, "You knew?"
You playfully roll your eyes and retort, "We work together, dear." Mel adds, "We also try to meet every Saturday for a cuppa."
Mel tilts her head slightly, addressing Donna with a warm smile, "I used to be like you. I was one of their companions." Donna gasps, exclaiming, "I wasn't the first redhead?"
With a shake of her head, Mel allows her large red curls to bounce, "No. That was me."
Donna awkwardly chuckles as the Doctor takes his glasses and wears them, quipping, "Although don't say companion. That sounds like we park him on the seafront at Weston-super-mare."
As Shirley pushes herself off the wheelchair, standing and giving Donna a look, Donna suddenly realizes what she said and turns to face Shirley, asking, "Is 'park' rude?" Shirley replies with a monotone voice, "Borderline." Donna winces in response.
In the heart of the command center, Kate stands with authority, her tablet in hand, and announces, "And stations. Gold Protocols. The Doctor and the Stargazer are in the room. Report."
Shirley adjusts her stance, her voice cutting through the air, "Two days ago, an increase in violence worldwide. The same increase in every country, all rising at exactly the same rate."
"Basically, every single human being thinks they're right and won't be told otherwise," Kate says, moving to stand next to you. Colonel Ibrahim adds, "That plane crash, the F665, Boston to Heathrow. The pilot declared his right to land wherever he wants."
On the screen, footage of the crazed pilot plays. His eyes were wide, he laughs amidst the blaring alarms of his instruments, declaring, "I'm coming home. Lookout, London. Daddy's coming home!"
In the tension-filled room, the Doctor initiates, "If everyone is going mad—" and Kate concurs, completing the thought, "So is the government."
Shirley, with a solemn nod, swipes on the screen of her tablet, unveiling footage of the current Prime Minister. He stands on a podium, his laughter echoing as he addresses the nation, "What do I care? I mean, seriously? Why should I care about you?"
In the aftermath of Donna's nonchalant remark, injecting a touch of humor with her observation, "No change there then," the room grapples with the unsettling scenes unfolding on the screen. The Doctor, now reclaiming the tablet, hands it back to Mel, who places it on her station. His gaze then sweeps across the room, and he remarks, "But you're fine. You're completely normal. And that's because of the—" He gestures towards the silver bands adorned with a glowing blue light worn around their arms.
Kate steps in to elaborate, "Oh, we call it the Zeedex." As the room processes this information, a robot's machine voice chimes in from the far left, connected to tubes and sporting screens, proudly announcing, "An invention of the Vlinx."
Taking a step forward, the Doctor addresses the robotic AI, "Hello, the Vlinx. I'm the Doctor, and this is my wife, the Stargazer."
Quick to clarify, you interject, "Not married yet."
"Just practicing," the Doctor playfully hums before turning his attention back to the Vlinx. With curiosity piqued, he queries, "So why's it called the Zeedex?"
In response to the Vlinx's brief explanation, "Good name," the Doctor emits a small, contemplative "Oh." Kate supplements the information, stating, "It disrupts the brain. Flattens the spike. Keeps everything calm."
With a slight scrunch of your nose, you inquire, "And the spike is?"
"I think I need to show you," Kate responds. Sensing a shift in the room, she commands Shirley, "Activate brain scan."
"Activating, ma'am," Shirley acknowledges. A beep emanates from the computer, and the screen displays the frequency inside Kate's brain. She points out, "That's my brain activity. Seems normal, albeit slightly heightened, given the end of the world. Now keep your eyes on the scan."
Kate moves to the center of the room and instructs, "And deactivate my Zeedex."
Shirley types on the keyboard, announcing, "Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, off." The light on her silver armband extinguishes. Kate takes a moment to scan the room, hands on hips, and asks, "Well?"
You gently interject, "Uh, hello?"
"Hello," Kate replies promptly, but her narrowed eyes betray suspicion. The Doctor poses a simple question, "How are you?"
"Fine," she responds.
You casually inquire, "Busy day?" Kate's nostrils flare, and she glares at you, retorting, "Why do you want to know?"
"I'm just asking. Is that a problem?" you reply, observing the increased spike in brain activity. Kate aggressively points at you, asserting, "It's an invasion of my privacy. In fact, it's an assault on my civic rights. And I think it's highly relevant that the person demanding information from me is an alien."
The Doctor turns to Shirley, nodding in approval for her to activate her Zeedex, and calmly says, "Okay."
However, Kate abruptly interjects, rejecting the Doctor's initiative, "No, no, no, no, no. I think you'll find that I'm in charge here." With a swift motion, she rips off her Zeedex, launching into an impassioned tirade, "And we've been infiltrated by aliens, a man and a woman with two hearts," she points accusatorily at the Doctor, "a man who changes his face and cannot be trusted."
As her anger intensifies, Kate aggressively directs her accusations at Donna and Mel, both with red hair, insinuating a conspiracy. You instinctively step forward, shielding them from Kate's escalating rage.
Growing more incensed, Kate turns her ire towards Shirley, who looks on with mild dissatisfaction. Kate singles out your friend and declares, "And as for her, in that chair. I've seen you walk. I've seen you walking! Don't deny it!"
UNIT soldiers move in to pull Kate away, and she unleashes her fury at you, "And you! This is all your fault! If you hadn't fallen into the bloody time rift, altering the universe with your existence and falling in love with the Doctor—none of this would have happened!"
The soldiers carefully escort Kate away, and the Doctor swiftly positions himself in front of you, protectively shielding you from lingering gazes. You bury your face in his shoulder as Kate continues to shout, "No, you can't stop me. It's about time you heard the truth."
One of the soldiers places the silver band back on Kate's arm and commands, "Activate Zeedex," resulting in a beep and the restoration of the blue light on her band. Kate sits on the floor, panting, as the tension in the room eases.
You lift your head from the Doctor's shoulder and nod, silently assuring him that you're okay. Together, you approach Kate, who is visibly distressed, covering her face with her hand. She breathes out an apology, "I'm sorry."
Both you and the Doctor shake your heads, reassuring her, "No, it's okay."
Gasping for air, Kate turns to Shirley, mortified, realizing the extent of her outburst. She says, "Shirley, I'm so sorry."
Shirley dismisses the need for an apology, "Absolutely no need."
UNIT soldiers help Kate to her feet as she acknowledges, "It's not just me. It keeps spiking inside every single person's head."
"But what does that mean? Is it being beamed in from outside?" Donna inquires. The Vlinx responds, "No. It is natural. It is generated inside the brain."
Donna points out, "But not me. Not Grandad." Mel adds, "Nor me. I'm wearing a Zeedex just in case, but I've been fine. Well, no more opinionated than usual." Donna sighs, "You and me both."
You and the Doctor ponder the situation, and he suggests, "Maybe long-term travel in the TARDIS put you out of sync."
Donna shakes her head and proposes, "Can't you give everyone a Zeedex?" Kate scoffs at the idea, gesturing to the screen behind her, where a late-night talk show host expresses her skepticism, "They're using this to control us and monitor us. And microwave our brains. I am anti-Zeedex!"
The Doctor, in response, asks you to help him with his coat. You take it from him and neatly place it on a chair. He then stands next to Shirley and suggests, "Can we filter this wavelength? Lose the background noise."
Shirley hums in response, typing away on her keyboard, "Uh-huh. Gives us a strong coherent wave in seizure focus. Peaking seven times."
As you consider the recent events, you voice your thoughts, "So, this started two days ago. But why then? What else happened on that day?" Kate responds, "Exactly. We've been looking for a trigger, and there's this."
The screen illuminates with the image of a satellite gracefully orbiting the Earth, accompanied by detailed blueprints on the left side. Kate elucidates, "The KOSAT 5 satellite, launched by South Korea, activated two days ago.”
Shirley, with a swift gesture, adds to the explanation by displaying a live feed of the satellite, which hovers 36,000 kilometers above Earth. Kate expounds further, “KOSAT is the final link in the chain. The world is now 100% online. From the highest mountain to the deepest valley on Earth, everyone is connected.”
"But KOSAT is clean. We’ve checked and double-checked. It’s not like the old Archangel Network. There’s nothing hiding in that signal." Shirley asserts, and the Doctor, with a contemplative hum, adds, “And yet.” He shakes his head, “For the first time in history, everyone has access to this.” He taps on the edge of one of the monitors, saying, “A screen.”
"What if it’s a tune?" Donna asks, prompting you and the Doctor to turn around and face her.
"What?" The Doctor inquires as you move to stand in front of her. Donna continues, "I know we’ve only got minutes left to live, but give me a second." Donna begins to draw lines on a clipboard with a piece of paper as she explains, "Because I spent six months teaching my daughter how to play the recorder till she said, ‘This is not who I am.’ That was the start of a whole other conversation, believe you me.”
She places the sheet of paper on the screen, drawing dots on the corresponding line, “But if… you look at these seven peaks, like this…”
She flips the sheet of paper around, revealing what you recognize to be music notes, and Donna confirms this by saying, “Maybe it's music.”
“A classic arpeggio. Middle C, an octave higher.” Mel says before she sings in arpeggio, “La, la, la, la, la, la, la.”
“Oh.” Kate says as if she remembers something, and you look around to see others having the same reaction, as if they’ve heard it before. You and the Doctor look around and ask, “What? What is it?”
Mel repeats her tune, “La, la, la, la, la, la, la.”
Donna gasps, her eyes slightly watering and her blue eyes shining as she says, “I know that tune.”
“I-I know that from somewhere. What are the notes?” Shirley asks, spinning her chair to face you, and you read them off, “C, E, G, C, G, E, C. It’s a musical palindrome.” Then you sigh, “But it’s just a straightforward arpeggio. Everyone knows arpeggios.”
“It’s a basic tune. So, the question is, why are we all reacting to this one?” Mel asks as everyone looks around at each other. You and the Doctor frown, and he says, “We’re not. The Vlinx?”
“Negative.” The Vlinx replies promptly, and you hum out loud, “Just the humans.”
“It’s just— It’s so familiar. It’s like it’s been buried in my head for years.” Donna says and groans, “What is it?”
Then you hear giggling from across the room, a nearby station. You and the Doctor turn to see Shirley pointing to her screen, a puppet in black and white display as she says, “I found the exact same notes.”
The puppet begins to laugh in arpeggio, and you and the Doctor realize it at the same time. The Doctor says, “Oh, it’s not a tune. It’s a laugh.”
“It’s a puppet.” Kate says as she stares wide-eyed at the screen featuring the puppet.
“The giggle in everyone’s head.” You say as you stand behind Shirley, looking at the monitor as it continues to laugh in the arpeggio notes.
“What is that thing?” Donna asks, and Shirley explains, “Stooky Bill, the first face ever to appear on television. Put there by John Logie Baird himself.”
Donna shakes her head and points at Stooky displayed on the monitor, “I’ve never seen him before, so how do— How do I know that laugh?”
You blink a few times before realizing out loud, saying, “If the very first image has been hiding in every screen since… sneaking into your head, carving a wave, and waiting…”
“But hiding how? If there were secret pictures hiding in every television, we would have found it,” Shirley asks, so sure of herself and UNIT’s capabilities. The Doctor then sassily and in a mocking tone replies, “Oh, why? Because you’re so clever? Maybe Stooky Bill’s a lot smarter than you.” Shirley raises her eyebrows and puckers her lips, somewhat agreeing to the possibility.
“Imagine… if he burnt himself into television itself and every picture ever since, every single one.” You say before taking out your sonic screwdriver, pointing to one of the monitors, and clicking the button. It whizzes, and the image of Stooky Bill appears. The woman who sat by that desk pushes back her chair in shock, and he is mockingly laughing as you hear the notes in the air.
“Screen… after screen, after screen.” You use your sonic screwdriver, tapping on each station's monitor, revealing Stooky Bill as it continues to reverberate its laughs.
The Doctor joins in, using his sonic on an employee’s phone in their hands. He says as he clicks his sonic screwdriver, “And every type of screen.” The Doctor taps on Kate’s tablet, showing the image of Stooky Bill. He says, “Every one and everywhere. He’s inside ‘em all!”
You move to stand in the very front of the room, center, pointing your sonic at the large screens. “And two days ago, he finally connected worldwide, branding his Giggle into your brains.” The sonic screwdriver warbles, and images of Stooky Bill, along with his laugh, appear on the large monitor.
The Doctor stands by your side, adding in a low voice, “Since the very first existence of television. Laughing at the human race. And driving you mad.”
Tumblr media
The entire group gathers for a small meeting by the large metal doors that lead to the helipad outside. You stand in a circle, positioned by the Doctor’s side, his glasses tucked away in his pocket. Kate tries to grasp the newfound knowledge as she asks, “But something at that scale, over so many years, who could do that?”
The Doctor's countenance turns wrathful, and you sense the heat and intensity radiating from his body as he retorts, "The puppet’s just a puppet. We’re looking for the puppeteer." He then pauses, taking a deep breath that puffs out his chest as he crosses his arms. Speaking with a low intensity, he adds, "And I’ve got a memory. I think something’s coming back… after a very long time."
Raising his voice to address everyone, he grits his teeth, "But it’s not only the giggle. Don’t go thinking you’ve got an excuse. The human race might be clever and bright and brilliant." His words are delivered with a hint of disgust, "But it’s also savage and venal and relentless."
The Doctor points to the screens showcasing people causing havoc around the world as he vehemently declares, "All the anger out there on the street. The lies, the righteousness." Jabbing a finger at the rest of the group, he continues, "That’s human. That’s you. That’s who you are. Using you’re intelligence to be stupid. Poisoning the world. And hating each other, you’ve never needed any help with that!”
He briefly pauses, toning down his voice as he says, “But today, something else is using your worst attributes. Playing with you. Like toys.” A chill runs down your spine as a distant memory starts to resurface, hinting at an old-time foe returning to wreak havoc. You blink, a hunch forming about who might be orchestrating all of the catastrophe.
“Can we take that satellite out?” The Doctor asks Kate, and she replies promptly, “All missiles are on lockdown, but we’ve got the Galvanic Beam.”
“What range?” You inquire, and Kate explains, “We could pick off a pebble on the moon. Trouble is, taking out a South Korean satellite will have international consequences, so we’ve been waiting for permission. All world leaders are being affected by the Giggle.”
The Doctor nods and says, “You have my permission.” He then looks to you, and you deeply sigh, nodding, “And you have mine.”
Kate nods to Colonel Ibrahim, signaling to get the Galvanic Beam ready. Then, she turns to you and the Doctor, “Thank you, Doctor and Stargazer.” Kate moves past you, announcing to the entire UNIT staff on the floor, “Gold protocol override. All staff, initiate Galvanic activation. Bring up the beam.”
“Platform in motion,” an employee's voice echoes through the speaker as the platform outside the tower shifts downward.
“Shirley, have we got the exact date that Logie Baird made that transmission?” The Doctor asks aloud, to which Shirley responds with determination, “I’ll find it,” and begins clicking away on her keyboard.
“All clear on the helipad,” another employee announces over the speaker as The Doctor walks over to Mel’s station, and you make your way towards Shirley, beginning to help her locate the date of the transmission.
The Doctor leans over Mel’s shoulder, and she says to him, “I fed the KOSAT fake coordinates, so it’s coming into UK orbit. Within range in three minutes.” The Doctor compliments her, “You’re brilliant.” He then looks at her with a smile, “Hello.” Mel replies with her own smile, the kind that reaches her eyes as she says, “Hi.”
You glance over to see the Doctor and Mel chatting as they work, and a sense of happiness and comfort washes over you, knowing Mel is okay. After a few minutes, you hear Mel announce to everyone, “Galvanic Beam payload boarding.”
“Platform locking at level 55,” an employee announces over the intercom, and Mel continues, “Galvanic Beam in position. KOSAT in range in 90 seconds.”
A beep emanates from Shirley’s computer, and your eyes quickly scan over the words before Shirley turns her head and says to the Doctor, “Doctor, Stooky Bill was televised on the 2nd of October 1925 at 22 Frith Street, Soho, W1D 4RF.”
You grab the Doctor’s coat from the chair and hand it to him as he says to Kate, “Fire when ready. Don’t wait for us.” He then looks to Colonel Ibrahim, quickly asking, “TARDIS?”
The Colonel points as he replies promptly, “Suite 17.”
The Doctor grunts, “Okay.” After putting on his coat, he grabs your hand, pulling you along with him as Donna says to you both, “You’re not going without me.”
As you enter the suite and find the TARDIS parked there, the Doctor quickly unlocks it with his key and rushes inside, with you and Donna trailing right behind him. Time’s running out, always running out, and every road you discover disappears under your feet. Because if nothing else, you're given a little time to change the game, a chance to redefine everything.

SOHO — 1925
The TARDIS whooshes and whizzes, finally giving a loud thud as it lands. The Doctor opens the door first, popping his head out to check if it’s safe before allowing you and Donna to step out into the dimly lit alley where the TARDIS is parked. The flickering gas lamps cast a warm glow, highlighting the cobblestone street and the faint echoes of distant chatter.
The Doctor announces to the two of you, “Soho, 1925.”
“So, what about Mel?” Donna asks, wiggling her eyebrows playfully at the two of you. You let out a chuckle, saying, “She’s brilliant, isn’t she?”
Donna laughs with a smile, “Yeah, but I just kept thinking, all this time, you’ve never mentioned her.”
The Doctor addresses Donna with a frown, “Donna, we’re a billion years old. If we stood and talked about everyone we’d ever met, we’d still be in the TARDIS yapping.”
“So you talk about no one ever?” Donna asks, and you look away guiltily. Donna continues, “You just keep charging on.”
“Yes, because I’m busy. Like now,” the Doctor replies.
“But you are busy every second of every day. I mean, look at us now. We haven’t stopped,” Donna points out, and you all come to a halt by the sidewalk. She continues, “I saw you, Doctor. I got a glimpse inside your mind.” The three of you stand on the sidewalk, surrounded by the ambient sounds of 1925 London, as Donna expresses, “And it’s like you’re staggering. You are staggering along. Maybe that’s why your old face came back. You’re wearing yourself out.”
You observe as the Doctor contemplates her words, his expression revealing a momentary reflection on her insight. However, he doesn't directly acknowledge them. Instead, he smoothly shifts the topic, saying, "Stooky Bill might be on Frith Street, but the question is, where did Stooky Bill come from?”
His gaze shifts to the bright red shop on the street labeled Mr. Emporium above the store. The three of you cross the street, anticipation building as you peek through the window. There, you spot someone engaged in a playful exchange with the Doctor, both figures playing peek-a-boo before the mysterious man expertly hops down to conceal himself. The Doctor's expression tightens with anger as he forcefully shoves the door open, pulling back the maroon curtains, and the three of you step into the enchanting toy store.
The atmosphere is filled with wonder and a touch of nostalgia as you take in the whimsical surroundings. Shelves adorned with a myriad of toys, each telling a story of childhood innocence and imagination. The air is scented with a mix of wooden toys, plush animals, and the faint fragrance of freshly painted models.
As you step further into the store, your disbelief intensifies as you recognize the man orchestrating this peculiar encounter. An old foe, one who could have channeled his creativity for good, yet chose to warp reality into a twisted game where play meant suffering for others. Dressed in a crisp white button-up and a vibrant red apron, he skillfully juggles three balls, his voice carrying a distinct German accent as he addresses you, "Die ball is die first game ever being invented."
He throws a ball towards you, only for the Doctor to swiftly intercept it before it makes contact with your stomach. Without missing a beat, the Doctor tosses it away onto the ground. Meanwhile, the man behind the counter continues his mesmerizing juggling act, sharing his narrative, "Stone Age man, he picked up ein rock." The Doctor catches another ball skillfully, and with a nonchalant toss, sends it away.
The rhythmic cadence of his speech, accompanied by the mesmerizing flow of his juggling, weaves an enchanting atmosphere within the toy store. The balls dance through the air, tracing whimsical patterns, adding a touch of magic to the man's storytelling. With a gleam in his eye, he continues narrating, "He said, ‘Oh! Das ist ein Ball.’"
The sequence of throw and catch becomes a rhythmic ballet, each movement a beat in the peculiar symphony unfolding before you. "He threw it, und he killed a man," he declares with a dramatic flair, followed by a nonchalant toss.
Another cycle of throw and catch commences, and he recounts, "He said, ‘Oh, what fun!’" The balls move effortlessly in the air, and the ambiance resonates with a sense of playfulness.
"Und now, everybody loves the balls," he proclaims, the balls gliding through the air in a mesmerizing display. Every throw, catch, and toss adds to the building tension in the tale.
"Until the year five billion. When the very last human picks up the skull of his enemy," he declares, the tone shifting slightly, yet maintaining the captivating rhythm. The balls continue their dance, and he winks as he concludes, "Und said, ‘That is the final ball of all,’ jah?"
As he tosses another ball, the vibrant atmosphere in the toy store takes a sudden turn when Donna, with a determined air, steps forward and effortlessly catches the ball with a single hand. Her gaze, firm and unyielding, pierces through the whimsical scene as she asserts, "Enough."
The man behind the counter raises an eyebrow, a mischievous smirk playing on his lips. "Ah, Donna Noble. I wondered which one of you had the balls," he retorts, his words carrying a playful undertone. Donna, taken aback, attempts to brush it off with a casual, "Okay. So you know my name?" The man, still smirking, raises both eyebrows in response.
Curiosity sparking, Donna seeks answers. "How do you three know each other?" she questions, her tone holding a mix of suspicion and intrigue. In response, the Doctor, donning a low, stern tone and a deep frown that accentuates the lines on his face, issues a command, "Star, Donna, go back to the TARDIS." The urgency in his voice hints at a deeper concern, urging them to retreat from the unfolding confrontation.
Donna, wearing a perplexed expression, seeks clarification, "What?"
The Doctor, frustration evident in his gritted teeth, reiterates his command, "Go back to the TARDIS."
You, however, defiantly shake your head. "As much as I love you bossing me around, you do not get to tell me to leave you here with him." The tension in the air thickens, with unspoken concerns lingering between all of you.
"Oh, but he is recognizing me," he says, a mischievous glint in his eyes. You whip your head back to the man behind the counter, the one who revels in tricks and games for sheer amusement. Chaos and discord personified, he continues, "Are you not 'ge-pleased,' Herr Doctor und Stargazer, to see me again after so many years?"
Donna, finally seeking clarity, asks, "Who is he?" Flashbacks of memories flood your mind.
The Doctor answers, "The Toymaker." As the realization sinks in, the atmosphere in the room starts to change.
The Toymaker gives a bow, a theatrical flourish that befits his whimsical yet ominous presence. Abruptly changing accents, he addresses with a menacing tone, "We meet again, Doctor, Stargazer."
But just as swiftly, the Toymaker's demeanor undergoes a shift. Stepping backward, he adopts a German accent, prompting curiosity. "But think, if the ball was the very first game, what was the second?"
With a mischievous grin, he seizes both ends of the curtain behind him and declares, "Hide-and-seek!" The Toymaker pulls the curtain shut, his laughter echoing in the room in those distinctive arpeggio notes.
The Doctor vaults over the counter, deftly pushing aside the two curtains, only to discover the Toymaker's disappearance. Behind the curtains lies a door, and with a quick turn of the copper-colored knob, the Doctor reveals a seemingly endless hallway. Warm-toned lights bathe the corridor in a gentle glow, wooden floorboards creak, and numerous doors line both sides of the mysterious passage.
As the Doctor steps forward, guided by an instinct you and Donna share, the door abruptly slams shut behind both of you. Turning sharply, the Doctor commands, “No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Go back.” With a quick twist of the doorknob, it should logically lead you out, but instead, it reveals the same seemingly endless hallway. Donna, her mouth agape, exclaims, “It’s bigger than the shop. Don’t tell me he’s got his own TARDIS.”
“The TARDIS is an idea the Toymaker would throw away,” the Doctor spits out with disdain as you three stride down the hallway. He continues, “We’ve stepped inside his domain, and it’s governed by the rules of play.” The Doctor turns to the door on his left, confidently opening it. Donna and you follow him, but just as the door slams shut, you find yourselves still trapped in the long, mysterious hallway.
“Okay. Keep going forward,” the Doctor instructs, stepping ahead with you and Donna in tow. Donna, perplexed, shakes her head and remarks, “But how does this even make sense? 'Cause I’ve seen some things with you two. I’ve seen Ood, Davros. I mean, the Adipose, for God’s sake.”
The Doctor twists another doorknob, taking a chance with the door to his left, only for it to transport you three back into the hallway. Donna continues, “But they had a sort of logic. Daleks built a great big bomb. I understood that. But this— this is impossible. How does it exist?”
The Doctor grits his teeth, growling, “That’s what unravels me. All the laws I cling to, gone.” He spins, opening another door only to lead you three back into the hallway. Moving to the opposite door, he finds it locked and slams his palm against the wood in frustration before pressing on down the hall.
Donna moves closer to you two and asks, “Who is the Toymaker? What is he?”
The Doctor turns to face Donna, explaining, “When I was young, I was so sure of myself. I made a terrible mistake. I let the TARDIS fall into another realm.” The Doctor opens a door, and you follow him as he continues, “A hollow beneath the Under Universe, where science is a game and all of us are toys.”
He pauses, taking a deep breath. "It's also how the Stargazer ended up with us, but that's something I will never regret." You softly remark, "A rift in the universe..." The Doctor quickly kisses your forehead, saying, "And it brought me you, my love."
After a moment, the Doctor struggles with another stubborn door, wiggling the doorknob in frustration. "I beat the Toymaker. I won his game, but now he's here. He's found his way into reality."
As he opens the door to the right, leading the three of you back into the hallway, he stills and sighs. "And I think it's all because of me."
You exchange a glance with the Doctor, shaking your head in disagreement. However, before you can utter a word, he cuts you off, his gaze intense. "'Cause I got clever, didn't I? I cast that salt at the edge of the universe. Thought I could have it all," he admits, his eyes locked onto yours. "I thought I could finally have you. I played a game and let him in, an elemental force with the power of a god, and he’s driven the human race mad with a puppet.”
Donna begins, “Yeah, but you always say—” the Doctor shakes his head and mockingly replies as he walks backward down the hall raising his voice, “Oh, what do I say? What do I say? What do I say?”
“‘Cause I’m always so certain. I’m all sonic and TARDIS and Time Lord. Take that away.” The Doctor says and defeatedly shrugs, “Take away the toys. What am I?” He chokes a little as his eyes glaze over, repeating, “What am I now?”
The Doctor looks to you and Donna as he offers a variation of the truth, “I don’t know if I can save your life this time.” The vulnerability in his voice echoes through the corridor, a stark departure from his usual confident demeanor.
Donna raises her eyebrows, her gaze shifting between you and the Doctor. “It’s not about me,” she asserts.
You meet Donna's gaze and respond, “Oh, yes, it is.”
With a nonchalant shrug and a deep breath, Donna begins, “Well,” and then she steps a little forward, flashing a determined smile, “Maybe I’ll save you, you big idiot.” Through the perplexing hallway, the chatter reverberates with a mixture of warmth and friendliness as you all chuckle.
"Anyway, you beat him before," Donna points out, and the Doctor wears a contemplative frown. "That’s the problem. Odd-on I’ll lose next time."
Donna dismisses the notion with a shake of her head. "Nope. Doesn’t work like that. Because my dad used to say, ‘Dice didn’t know what the dice did last time.’ Games don’t have a memory. Every game starts from scratch."
After a moment of letting the words settle, the Doctor nods with a genuine smile. "Oh, I like that. Well said, Dad." He takes a deep breath before suggesting, "Okay. Shall we find the right door?"
The Doctor swiftly dashes to one of the doors, opening them one after the other. You and Donna struggle to keep up, the anticipation heightening. Suddenly, one of the heavy doors slams shut behind Donna, separating you from her. Then the door in front of Donna slams shut, also separating her from the Doctor, the echoes of the closing door lingering in the air.
You sense your fingernails biting into the palm of your hand, forming a tight fist as you strike the door with the side of your fists. An exasperated cry escapes your lips as you press your forehead against the wooden door. You shut your eyes, tears trickling down your cheeks. Slowly, you lower your hands to your sides, then raise them, placing them at the back of your neck in an attempt to regain composure.
You take a deep breath, letting the air fill your lungs before releasing it in a resounding exhale. Pushing away from the door, you continue down the corridor. A distinct pull guides you to a door on the right. Twisting the knob, you pull the door open and step into a room filled with standing mirrors encased in plastic frames. As you survey the surroundings, the door slams shut behind you, making you flinch and glance back.
Turning your head forward, you're met with various incarnations of the Doctor—past and present—alongside friends and companions, all staring back at you through the mirrors. Their gaze penetrates through you. The mirrors shift, forming two opposing lines, resembling portraits guiding you towards a solitary dresser and a seat. On the creaky wooden floors, you move delicately, feeling like a doll as the eyes of your own reflections track your every step down the mirrored pathway.
You eventually reach the dresser, and the seat smoothly pulls out from underneath it. Hesitant, you lower yourself onto it, only to find that your own reflection is not what greets you. Instead, it's the Toymaker, wearing a smug expression as he says, “Ah, yes, the Stargazer. Oh, how I’ve missed you, old friend.”
You cross your arms and raise your eyebrows, “If that’s what you want to call it, sure.”
The Toymaker’s expression shifts to a sour one as his face scrunches up, “We were friends, we had such wonderful games in our little dollhouse until the Doctor stole you away from me.”
You shake your head as you say sternly, “He didn’t take me away from you.”
The Toymaker childishly rolls his eyes as he also crosses his arms, “Admit it. You were happy. Happier to be blissfully unaware of who you are when we were in our universe.”
You shake your head as you feel your eyes glaze over, pressing your lips, trying to steady your breathing. Softly, you spoke, “You were controlling me. You were trying to mold me into something… that had to be exceptional to be worthwhile.”
You sniff as you continue, “You never cared about me or any of it. You only wanted to play your games and win. And the one time I won… I saw your true nature and never let me out of that box.”
You gaze directly into the Toymaker's eyes, inquiring, “How? How did you end up here?”
He tilts his head and smiles, “The Doctor may have cast that salt, but that was just the door. You being here, allowing yourself to exist in this reality, my dear, you were the key. The Doctor merely provided the key, and voila. Here I am.”
The Toymaker shifts before he hums and then says nonchalantly, “Well, this was so much fun… us two friends catching up. We should do this more often.”
You narrow your eyes as you shake your head, “Don’t you dare hurt them.”
The Toymaker grins, “Well, what’s the fun in that?”
The room around you seems to blur as a heaviness settles in your chest, the weight of your choices and the consequences of your time with the Toymaker bearing down on you. The mirrors that once reflected various versions of yourself, your friends, and the Doctor now seem to mock your vulnerability.
Your face shifts to anger as you grab your sonic screwdriver, raise it to the mirror, and press the button, causing the illusion to shatter. There is no glass in the mirror because, on the other side of it, is you—freed from the false reflections that sought to define you.
You rise from your seat, hastening as the glass mirrors rupture behind you, fragments and shards soaring through the air. Grabbing the doorknob, you wrench the door open, hurtling into the hallway just as the door behind you slams shut.
Anticipating the impact of the hard hallway floor, you're surprised to find yourself enveloped in sturdy arms, the familiar texture of the Doctor’s coat reassuring. "Whoa! Darling, there you are," he exclaims.
Speechless, you encircle him with your arms, finding solace in the warmth he provides. He eases back, cradling the side of your head, and you yield to the touch, trying to ground yourself in the reassurance that you're still alive, still breathing. Life may have presented challenges, love may have left its mark, and certain experiences may have etched an ache in your soul, yet, you survived.
The Doctor scans your face and says, “You’ve been crying. What’s wrong? What happened? Did he hurt you?”
You sniffle as you shake your head frantically, “No, I’m just… I’m sorry.”
The Doctor frowns, “What for?”
“It’s my fault. All of this is my fault.”
“No. I cast that salt—”
“Yes, but since I’m here, in this reality. I allowed him to exist here as well. It’s my fault. I’m so sorry.”
The Doctor pulls you in closer, tightly wrapping his arms around your frame as he asks, “Did he tell you that?”
You merely make a squeak as you nod into his chest, “It makes sense—”
“No. It’s— I refuse to believe it. I won’t.”
You began, “But—”
The Doctor pauses, his gaze softening, and he says, “No, my love. It's not your fault. Don't let his games mess with your mind. We'll figure this out together.”
You let go of your ghosts and your worries for once. It was just one step, but it said plenty. That you've been cut off from the outside world for such a large portion of your existence dawns on you. That you devoted so much of your life to a version of existence that was cut off from believing in the good and the beautiful as a means of survival, that you tried so hard to shield yourself from the love you so desperately needed.
You knew that you wouldn’t find a love that was perfect, but you found a love that was real. The kind that sees you and brings down your walls, that asks you to share parts of your soul you have tucked away and kept hidden from the world.
Suddenly, the creak of another door opening startles both of you, prompting a swift turn of your heads. Your heart skips a beat as you spot your fiery-haired friend. You exclaim, “Donna!”
“Oh, my god!” Donna exclaims, and the Doctor responds, “There you are!” As you eagerly move forward to embrace Donna, the room undergoes a rapid metamorphosis, transforming into a puppeteer theatre, with the Toymaker standing at its center.
Fanfare resonates in the background through concealed speakers as the Toymaker speaks in German, “Kommen Sie, kommen sie!”
Three chairs materialize from behind you, smoothly rolling forward and obliging you to take a seat upon them as they advance towards where the Toymaker stands.
"The show is just beginning. Worldwide premiere," the Toymaker announces, vanishing momentarily only to reappear behind the puppet theatre at the center. He addresses Donna Noble, "This is for you. Let me tell you what happened when the Doctor, he was leaving you."
Lifting the cross brace of the string puppet, he continues, "He met a friend called Amy Pond. And he loved Amy Pond." The strings sway as he manipulates the Amy puppet. "Yes, he be liking die redheads." A playful wink is followed by, "And they went to and fro in time und space."
The Toymaker's tone darkens as he narrates, "But Amy Pond was touched by the Weeping Angel. And she died." He grabs a large pair of scissors, severing the strings of the puppet, rendering it limp and lifeless.
The Doctor's expression turns grim and angry as he grits his teeth, "She died of old age."
Quickly shifting to an American accent, the Toymaker mockingly remarks, "Well, that’s alright then."
Continuing in his vibrant German accent, the Toymaker orchestrates the descent of a new puppet onto the stage, "Und then he was meeting Clara. Mmm." He adds, "But she was killed by a bird." Another snip of the strings leaves the puppet limp and lifeless.
The Doctor growls, "She still survives in her last second of life."
"Well, that’s alright then!" The Toymaker replies in his mocking American accent.
The Toymaker continues in his vibrant German accent, placing another puppet on the stage, "Und then the Doctor met Bill." Strings are pulled as he continues, "Not Stooky Bill, but lady Bill. But she was killed by the Cybermen." With a snip, the puppet falls to the floor, lifeless.
The Doctor's lip trembles, jaw set, as he asserts in a raised tone, "But her consciousness survives."
"Oh, well, that’s alright then!" The Toymaker retorts once more in his mocking American accent. He then transitions to a new scene with stars and planets descending, connected with strings. Cutting the strings, he comments with feigned remorse, "Und then there came die Flux. Oh, Donna Noble, the poor Doctor." The Toymaker continues to sever the strings attached to the planets, remarking, "Die Flux was killing everything."
"Is all of this true?" Donna asks in disbelief, leaving you frozen and unsure of what to do or say.
The Doctor abruptly stands up, his gaze locked onto the Toymaker's eyes as he lowers his tone, the gruffness evident, "I challenge you to a game."
The Toymaker's expression drops, his nostrils flare, and he strides toward the table. The Doctor meets him at the other end, and they lock eyes, a tense silence enveloping them.
The two of them settle into seats across from each other as the Toymaker mysteriously conjures a deck of cards. In a refined British accent, he declares, “I accept the challenge.”
The Doctor retorts, “You have no choice.”
With an air of a magician, the Toymaker skillfully shuffles the deck of cards, his hands moving with deliberate precision. "I came to this universe with such delight, and I played them all, Doctor." The Toymaker lays down the cards in a line, maintaining his magical flair. "I toyed with supernovas, turned galaxies into spinning tops."
He holds the two halves of the deck and continues, "I gambled with God and made him a jack-in-the-box." Flipping the cards, he shuffles the deck, his eyes locked onto the Doctor's. "I made a jigsaw out of your history. Did you like it?"
"The Master was dying and begged for his life with one final game. And when he lost, I sealed him for all eternity inside my gold tooth." The Toymaker says, a sly smile accompanying the gesture to his shiny gold tooth. However, his tone turns grave and haunted as he continues, "There’s only one player I didn’t dare face. The one who waits."
Both you and the Doctor furrow your brows, and the Doctor questions, “Who’s that?”
The Toymaker's gaze becomes distant as he recalls, “I saw it. Hiding. And I ran.”
“What do you mean?” The Doctor presses, and the Toymaker shakes his head, “Mmm. That’s someone else’s game.” Placing the deck of cards neatly on the table, he asks, “What shall we play?”
“One request. Tell me,” The Doctor starts, his tone curious, “The human race, back in the future. Why does everyone think they’re right?”
The Toymaker smirks knowingly and replies, “So that they win. I made every opinion supreme. That’s the game of the 21st century. They shout, they type, and they cancel. So I fixed it. Now everybody wins.”
“And everyone loses,” you remark, your eyebrows furrowing in contemplation. The Toymaker smiles, acknowledging the truth, “The never-ending game.” He then turns to the Doctor, prompting, “Now name your challenge.”
“The simplest game of all. Let’s cut,” the Doctor proposes, and the Toymaker grins, “Highest card wins.”
“Aces high,” the Doctor asserts.
“You choose,” the Toymaker replies.
“I’ll go first,” the Doctor declares.
Then Donna interjects, “But he’ll cheat.”
You, the Toymaker, and the Doctor quickly disagree, simultaneously stating, “No.” The Toymaker's face turns sour, offended by the accusation, “Shame.”
“That’s the one thing he won’t do,” the Doctor asserts, and Donna points out, “But they’re his cards. He’s all tricks. Of course, he’ll cheat.”
You then explain, “The only rules the Toymaker follows are the rules of the game. They bind his entire existence. The Doctor wins or he loses, and that’s it.”
The Toymaker glowers at the Doctor as he says, “Then play.”
The Doctor seizes the top deck of cards, turning it to reveal the Eight of Clubs. A sinking feeling creeps into the pit of your stomach as you calculate the odds, not liking the prospects for the Doctor.
The Toymaker raises an eyebrow with a smug expression, “My turn.” He grabs a portion of the deck, turning it to reveal the King of Hearts. Gripping the sides of your chair, you feel a sense of dread as the Toymaker laughs, “I’m the King.”
Switching back to his German accent, he declares excitedly, “Und now, meine kleine Doctor, we will see what is my prize!”
The Doctor responds, “One… all.”
A light laugh of relief escapes you, realizing the Doctor had a backup plan in case he lost. Leaning across the table, the Doctor's words make the Toymaker's expression drop, “I won the game many years ago. You’ve won today, which leaves us equal. And you know two players are bound by one inviolable rule.”
The Toymaker sneers as he begrudgingly admits, “Best of three.”
The Doctor nods, “Best of three.”
The Toymaker purses his lips in annoyance, narrowing his eyes before saying, “Then let’s make it 2023.” He suddenly pulls a curtain from the side, quickly vanishing as the red velvet cloth clatters to the floor. The room transforms, and you hear the creaking of wood.
Both you and the Doctor exclaim, “Donna!”
Donna has already sprung from her chair, responding, “I’m already running!”
As you run, the structure behind you collapses in on itself, the scratching and groaning of wood as it folds in the hallway. Eventually, you make it out of the shop, running into the streets and stopping from across the street to see the entire building fold itself neatly into a box on the ground.
Donna points out, "He said 2023," and the Doctor responds as his chest puffs out a breath, "Winner takes all."

UNIT HEADQUARTERS, LONDON — DAY, 2023
Once the TARDIS had landed, you and Donna hurriedly followed the Doctor, who carried the box containing the Toymaker's shop. As you reached the main area of operations, the Doctor placed the red box on Melanie's desk and instructed, "Keep an eye on that."
Stepping up on one of the desks, the Doctor addressed everyone in a loud tone, "The satellite was only a link in the chain, so Donna needs access to the subframe. There is no one in London faster on a keyboard. She’s creating a template for this." He produced a flash drive and explained, "It coordinates all telescopes and satellites and deep-space scans across the Earth." Tossing the flash drive to Shirley, who deftly caught it.
Turning to the Vlinx, the Doctor requested, "The Vlinx, I need all mesh reflectors on Earth translated to digital five."
As Donna worked on the keyboard, Mel replied to Donna's question, "Dynamic. We’re using triad."
Donna nodded in understanding, typing rapidly, "Got ya. Okay, so you should all be receiving this now."
"How bad is it, Doctor, Star?" Kate asked with concern. The Doctor responded with a warning tone, "Something entered this world in 1925. I don’t know how. And I warn you, this thing can get from 1925 to now like stepping through a door."
He shoved his hands into his pockets and continued, "But if we’re lucky, the program the Stargrazer created can detect the decay of an energy signature from 98 years ago. Might be on Earth. Might be in orbit. Might be in space. But if we can find the entrance, maybe we can turn it into an exit."
"What are we fighting?" Kate asked, and you responded grimly, "An elemental force beyond the rules of the universe."
Shirley then inquired with a puzzled tone, "What’s that supposed to mean?"
The Doctor gave her a look and explained, "You think life is a balance between order and chaos, but the universe is not binary." As the Spice Girls' "Spice Up Your Life" began playing from somewhere, he continued, "Far from it. There is order and chaos, and then there is play." Pointing to the ceiling, he asked, "What’s that?"
"Could you turn that off, please?" Kate requested, and Melanie, standing from her chair, asked, "Who is that?"
The Doctor groaned, "Oh, I think he’s here."
The Toymaker entered the scene like a Broadway hurricane, dressed as a band leader with his hair curled and styled. A door suddenly appearing with the bell jingling as he strutted forward. Confetti popped, lights flashed, and the Toymaker lip-synced to the Spice Girls' song playing from an unknown location.
"When you're feelin' sad and low
We will take you where you gotta go"
The door materialized behind you, the bell jingling as the Toymaker stepped out, dancing and lifting his hat, grooving to the music. You and the Doctor stood there, unimpressed, wearing a fed-up expression.
The Toymaker, immersed in the infectious beats of the Spice Girls, continued his impromptu performance. With infectious enthusiasm, he teleported across various areas of the headquarters, seamlessly syncing his lip movements to the lyrics of the song. His dance was a spectacle of exaggerated expressions, capturing the vibrant spirit of the Spice Girls' anthem.
As the music echoed through the room, the Toymaker made flamboyant movements, teleporting next to Shirley. With flair, he held up a phone, lip-syncing passionately to the lyrics.
"Smilin', dancin', everything is free
All you need is positivity"
The Toymaker's energetic dance moves and lively expressions added a surreal touch to the otherwise serious atmosphere of the operation.
“Colours of the world
Spice up your life”
Teleporting with theatrical finesse, he continued his spirited performance, engaging with the song's upbeat tempo.
“Every boy and every girl
Spice up your life”
The Toymaker, a delightful force of whimsy, twirled and danced with infectious energy, infusing the tension-filled room with an unexpected burst of joy.
“People of the world
Spice up your life
Aah
Slam it to the left
If you're havin' a good time
Shake it to the right
If ya know that you feel fine
Chicas to the front
Ha ha (uh uh)
Go round”
With each step, he appeared and disappeared, dancing effortlessly to the rhythm. In a sudden move, the Toymaker materialized next to Kate, seamlessly incorporating her into his lively dance. However, the exuberant twirl proved too much, and Kate, spun too fast, and collided with a wall.
Undeterred, the Toymaker vanished and reappeared beside Melanie, pulling her into an impromptu dance as UNIT soldiers point their weapon at him.
“Slam it to the left
If you're havin' a good time
Shake it to the right
If ya know that you feel fine
Chicas to the front”
The Toymaker spun Melanie like a spinning top, prompting your alarmed cry, "Melanie!" Both you and the Doctor rushed to her aid as she tumbled to the ground, the unexpected dance taking an unforeseen turn.
"La la la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la"
Kate regains her composure, brushing off her slacks with a determined air as she commands the UNIT soldiers, "Detain him!"
In response, a contingent of UNIT soldiers swiftly advances, attempting to apprehend the whimsical Toymaker. The Doctor's warning echoes in the air, “No, don’t!” However, defying the Doctor's urgent plea, the Toymaker playfully taps the soldiers, transforming them into vibrant, bouncing balls that clatter across the floor.
"What happened to them?" Kate urgently inquires, and you, wearing a grimace, shake your head, "They're dead. I'm sorry. Just stop it. Let me talk to him."
The Toymaker confidently struts down the center aisle among the stations, seizing the attention of everyone. Kate seizes the opportunity and commands the remaining UNIT soldiers, "On my command, open fire!"
"Take him out, take him out!"
Despite the barrage of gunfire from the UNIT troops, the bullets magically transform into a cascade of delicate rose petals, scattering around the office in a surreal display. The Toymaker, reveling in the chaos, gleefully glances atop a table as more rose petals dance in the air.
"Yellow man in Timbuktu
Colourful, both me and you
Kung Fu fighting, dancing queen
Tribal spaceman and all that's in between"
Undeterred, more UNIT soldiers step in, brandishing larger firearms. Kate urgently yells, "Get down!" Yet, instead of bullets, they too unleash a storm of rose petals towards the Toymaker, amplifying the confusion and chaos in the headquarters.
Now seated on the floor, the Toymaker whimsically creates a rose petal angel, moving his arms and legs in a playful display as he swims amidst the never-ending fall of petals, still lip-syncing to the song.
"Colours of the world (Spice up your life)
Every boy and every girl (Spice up your life)
People of the world (Spice up your life, ah)"
As the Toymaker gracefully walks away from the floral aftermath, he makes his exit, singing the last part of the song and forming a heart with his hands.
"Hai, sí, ja! Hold tight!"
With a resounding honk, he disappears into the floor, leaving the bewildered onlookers shaken and utterly confused about the bizarre turn of events.
The Doctor swiftly dashes forward, sliding to his knees with palms pressed to the floor in an attempt to catch the Toymaker, yet the space where he once stood appears empty, as if he were an illusion.
While Donna tends to Mel, you approach the Doctor, who rises to his feet. Kate's inquiry breaks the moment, "Doctor, Stargazer, who is he?"
Breathing heavily, you respond, "The Toymaker."
"How does he do that?" Shirley questions from her wheelchair, seeking understanding.
Ignoring the query, the Doctor directs urgently, "The Vlinx, speed up those scans. I need those results." He then turns to the group, nostrils flaring, and commands, "All of you, search the building. He’s still here. Where’s he gone?"
Soldiers take charge, securing the perimeter, while Shirley persists, "But how does he do it?" The Doctor, resolute, explains in a low tone, "If I told you he manipulates atoms with the power of thought, would you believe it?"
Shirley ponders for a moment before responding, "Is that what he does?"
The Doctor shakes his head, "No. You can’t fight him, Shirley. There’s nothing you can do."
A sudden noise interrupts the conversation—a bell tinkling. Hushing everyone, you urge, "Listen. Listen."
The ringing intensifies. Kate steps towards the automatic door leading to the helipad, and you follow suit. There, on the helipad, the Toymaker stands alone, dressed in an aviator outfit, ringing the doorbell. Kate exclaims, "Oh, my God. He’s got the Galvanic Beam." Reacting swiftly, you and the Doctor rush onto the helipad. The Toymaker sits on the chair of the Galvanic Beam, swinging it as he excitedly exclaims in German, "Achtung, Achtung! Backen Sie."
Kate, Donna, Shirley, and Mel, carrying the box, join you on the helipad along with the UNIT soldiers. The Toymaker continues, with his goggles on and his exaggerated German accent, "Oh, how I am liking this, the gun mit the laser und the bang und the boom."
The Doctor turns back to the group, urgently shouting, "Go back inside! Get back, get back!"
The Toymaker, however, dismisses the idea, insisting, "No, no, no, no, no. Every game is ge-needing an audience, ja."
Now it's your turn to raise your voice, "Get back inside!" Yet, the Toymaker, maintaining his defiance, sternly disagrees, "Und I said nein!" He takes aim at the glass higher up the building, shattering it. The team below reacts with startled cries as you and the Doctor shoot furious glares at the Toymaker.
Removing his goggles, the Toymaker switches to a British accent, calmly stating, "Now we can all have some fun."
Kate steps forward, undeterred and unafraid, confronting the Toymaker with a determined gaze. "Where are my staff? The beam had a pilot, and the armourer and the ground staff. Where are they?"
“I think they're still falling,” the Toymaker replies, and then a faint thud in the distance is followed by the sound of glass shattering.
The Doctor bares his teeth, anger etched across his face as he stomps forward and confronts the Toymaker, “I don't understand why you're so small!” The Toymaker’s face shifts into a frown, his features scrunching up as the Doctor continues his impassioned confrontation, “You can turn bullets into flowers. Think of the good you could do. So tell me why you don't!”
The Toymaker responds with resounding sureness, "You know full well this is merely a face concealing a vastness that will never cease, because your good and your bad are nothing to me. All that exists is to win or to lose."
“And you know full well that I've had many faces, containing something far more,” the Doctor begins. You inch closer to him as he grabs your hand, offering the Toymaker a compelling invitation, “So come with us. Leave this tiny world. We can take your games back to the stars. We can play across the cosmos. We can be... Celestial.”
You watch as the Toymaker’s gaze shifts between the two of you, “The Time Lords, and the Toymaker?”
You nod, extending your hand, “Infinite games.”
A moment of anticipation hangs in the air as you hope for his acceptance. However, the Toymaker's expression shifts to one of indifference as he uses the controller of the Galvanic Beam. Turning to survey London, he begins, “And yet…” The soldiers cautiously retreat as the Toymaker observes the destruction and chaos engulfing the city.
“I have fallen in love with humanity. This world is the ultimate playground. All of the sport, the matches, the medals, the gambling, and the anger, and the children shackled to their bedrooms with their joysticks and their buttons. You make games out of bricks falling upon other bricks. You are exceptional,” the Toymaker remarks, and you signal the troops to halt their advance. The Toymaker gasps, “And then there are the mind games. Oh, the dating and ghosting, the deceit and the control. You make me dizzy. I am in no hurry to leave this place.”
He swivels the turret around, a maniacal glint in his eye as he chuckles, “We can play Grandma's Footsteps.” He gleefully fires at the soldiers' feet, forcing them to hastily retreat, "And Off-Ground Touch."
“Ah! Stop, stop, stop, stop!” You plead helplessly as the Toymaker, a sinister smirk on his face, persists in aiming the Galvanic Beam at your companions. He remarks, "Shooting ducks. Who's up next? The companion? The soldier? The scientist? The orphan?"
The Doctor charges ahead, bellowing and thumping his chest defiantly, "Your fight is with me!" The Toymaker directs the beam towards the Doctor, declaring, "And you owe me! One more ga—"
His words abruptly cease as the Toymaker unleashes the Galvanic Beam, piercing through the Doctor's torso. A gut-wrenching scream escapes your lips, and you desperately attempt to rush towards him, only to be forcefully restrained by Donna and Kate. Helplessly, you bear witness to the Doctor's anguished ordeal.
The Toymaker proclaims, “I played the first game with one Doctor. I played the second game with this Doctor. Therefore, your own rules have decreed I play the third game with the next Doctor.” As the beam deactivates, you extricate yourself from Donna and Kate's grasp, hastening to reach your Doctor who has descended to his knees on the ground. Regeneration energy begins to shimmer around him, and you sniffle as you cradle him close, feeling his feeble arm wrap around you.
Tears stream down your face as you murmur, "Hey, hey... I'm right here."
You sense his touch, brushing away your tears as he utters, "Hello, my sweet Stargazer... I’ve been alone for so long. Oh, how I've missed you." A resonant sniff escapes you as you reply, "I'm so sorry. For running. For leaving. For everything, I’m sorry.”
He softly hushes you, "No. None of that. It's not your fault." A wistful smile gently paints his face. "I love you." You release a sob, "I love you too."
"Marry me?" The Doctor proposes, managing to flash you a boyish grin. You can't help but emit a weak laugh, "Right now?"
"Whenever, wherever you like. Just say yes."
"You already know I’d say yes, you idiot!" you retort.
"Say it, please," he murmurs, and you nod as tears continue to fall from your cheeks, "Of course, I'll marry you. I’ll marry you as many times as you want. As many lifetimes as you want."
As the regeneration energy glows brighter, Donna steps forward, yelling loudly to the Toymaker, “He's not dying alone. You can do what you like to me. I'm going to be with them both.”
“And so am I,” Mel declares, setting the box down and approaching the other side of the Doctor along with Donna.
The Toymaker allows it, nodding, “Handmaidens.”
“It's okay,” Donna says, and the Doctor responds, “It's not dying.” Donna nods in understanding, adding, “I know. But…”
Mel smiles as she interjects, “You're going to be someone else. It doesn't matter who because every single one of you is fantastic.”
The Doctor’s eyes glaze as he feels the regeneration energy glow brighter and stronger, surging throughout his body, “It's time. Here we go again. Allons-y!”
The energy fizzles out, and the Doctor hasn't changed his face, leaving you all blinking in confusion as he lets out an, “Um.”
The Doctor’s brow furrows as Donna asks, “What... What's happening?”
Looking to you, the Doctor asks in an even more confused tone, “Could you... pull?”
With your mouth agape and wide-eyed, you inquire, “Could I... what?” The Doctor looks to Mel and Donna to his left, saying, “And you.”
“What do you mean?” Mel asks, and the Doctor blinks as stands up and replies, “Pull! Just pull each way. I don't know. It feels different this time.” The three of you begin to pull in each way, and the Doctor exclaims, “Ow! Oh.”
Regeneration surges and flares up once more, and out pops the head and shoulders of the new Doctor, number 15. You all gasp in shock, and you're the first to say, “What?”
“What?” Donna and Mel ask in unison.
“What?!” The Toymaker exclaims.
“No way,” the other part of the Doctor exclaims, and your Doctor responds with glee, “You're me.”
The new regeneration of the Doctor smiles, a toothy grin spreading across his face as he says, “No, I'm me. I think I'm really, really me. Oh, ho-ho, I am completely me! Don't just stand there, push!”
Your Doctor poses the question once more, "Do what?" to which his other half retorts, "Push."
"What— Does this work?" Your Doctor questions and the new one responds with a laugh, "I don't know."
They part ways entirely, each now clad in half of the other one's attire. Your Doctor sports the undershirt, vest, and trousers, and is left barefoot. Meanwhile, as far as your memory serves, the 15th regeneration of the Doctor is now adorned in a button-up shirt, tie, sneakers, and underwear. You purse your lips as you try to hide your smile and feel a warmth spreading out your face as you realize your Doctor isn’t wearing any underwear. You decide to pocket that bit of information for later.
A surge of joy and laughter fills the air as the 15th Doctor exclaims, "Hello!" Arms outstretched in a welcoming embrace, he moves towards your Doctor, continuing to laugh, "So good to see you! So good!"
Turning his attention to you, a broad grin decorates his face as he rushes towards you, enveloping you in a warm hug and lifting you off the ground, spinning you around. A yelp of surprise and glee escapes you, and you notice a twinge of jealousy in your Doctor's expression. However, you shoot him a look, a gentle reminder that they are one and the same.
The 15th Doctor lets out hearty laughter before addressing everyone, "Now, someone tell me what the hell is going on here."
"Excuse me. Sorry, but..." Kate begins, and Shirley interjects, "How did that happen?"
"Bi-generation. I have bi-generated! There's no such thing. Bi-generation is supposed to be a myth, but... look at me.” He chuckles and stretches as his joints crack, “Yeah, myth, myth, myth," the 15th Doctor declares with a jolly tone, turning to Mel and inquiring, "Mel, what do you think?"
Mel smiles widely as she gazes at the 15th Doctor, "I think you're beautiful."
Your Doctor furrows his brow, questioning, "Still beautiful?"
"Yeah," Mel responds.
Donna, taking in the new Doctor with a rich deep ebony skin tone, asks, "Do you come in a range of colours?"
To which all the Time Lords reply with a resounding, "Yes."
You hear the Toymaker clear his throat and begin, pointing the beam at the two Doctors, "If I can interrupt... Behold the game of the Time Lords. A dummy who dies and doubles and dies and doubles. I could play this for 100 years. I'll have vast meadows of Doctors dying over and over again, and I'll never get bored because…"
The two Doctors step forward in unison, declaring, "I challenge you to a game."
The Toymaker's face sours, and he tosses his goggles, shifting into a frown. "But there's two of you."
Your Doctor asserts, "I'm the Doctor," and the 15th remarks, "And I'm the Doctor."
Your Doctor smirks, "And according to the rules, you can't say no."
The Toymaker stammers, "But that's cheating."
“How?” both Doctors say simultaneously, and your Doctor continues, “It's your game, and you did this.”
The Toymaker is at a loss for words, stammering, "But…"
Your Doctor smiles, "You doubled us."
“So, who am I marrying then—” You interject, and the two Doctors exclaim, “Me!”
Your eyebrows shoot up, eyes widening in response. "Y’know what, that seems like an issue for later."
The Toymaker interjects, stating, "I accept your challenge." Stepping off the Galvanic Beam, your Doctor commands everyone in a commanding voice, "Get back." In compliance, everyone takes a few steps back.
“Moments like these are a joy, when someone thinks they can outwit the maker of the games. Do you think a grand total of two can cause me to shiver when I've played against the Guardians of Time and Space and shrank them into voodoo dolls? Name your challenge, Doctor,” the Toymaker says, and you mockingly yawn, eliciting a glare from him.
“You said it. The first game ever,” the 15th Doctor states, and your Doctor finishes his thoughts, “The ball.”
The Toymaker conjures a ball from thin air and declares, “Catch? Of course, before we begin, there is one thing to remember. It's a simple game, really, but I think…”
Suddenly, the Toymaker hurls the ball towards your Doctor at an astonishing speed, making contact with his chest just as he finishes his sentence, “…if you drop it, you lose.”
Your Doctor catches the ball, releasing a deep breath, “Nice.”
The ball is tossed around in a flurry. You can only watch as it keeps getting passed and tossed. Eventually, the 15th Doctor throws it extremely far to your Doctor, causing him to tumble and dive to catch it from the 15th.
Your Doctor looks at the 15th with wide eyes, his chest puffing out breaths as he exclaims, “Hey! I'm on your side!”
15th sheepishly replies, “I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry!”
The game of catch persists, and you nervously bite your nails as you observe the trio. There are numerous extreme throws and catches, accompanied by near misses, until the 15th Doctor imparts enough spin on the ball. It glances off the Toymaker's fingers, tumbling over the building's edge.
The Toymaker pants in disbelief, beginning, "But—"
“We won!” Your Doctor asserts, and the 15th adds, “We did it. Fair game. You lost.”
Attempting to salvage the situation, the Toymaker stammers, “No, but I think you'll find…”
Your Doctor steps forward, declaring, “Best of three. And my prize, Toymaker, is to banish you from existence forever.”
The Toymaker protests, “No! But I'm... It's not…” Suddenly, he starts to flatten and fold, “You can't... But I…” Mel steps forward and brings out the box as the Toymaker yelps, “Not fair. Please. My legions are coming. Argh!” He folds up into a square and drops into the box, which slams shut.
Kate seizes the box by the handles, instructing the soldier, “Take it to the deepest vault and bind it in salt.” The soldier promptly responds, “Yes, ma'am.”
Shirley and Kate disengage their Zeedexes. Kate turns to Shirley, saying, “Shirley, tell Geneva we're in full resus. Tell every base to follow Green Shoot protocols, full liaison.” She then addresses the soldier, “Rudi, I'll want the names of all those staff.”
Your attention shifts to your Doctor, standing at the edge of the helipad. The wind tousles his brown, spiky hair as he surveys the destruction wreaked upon London by the Toymaker. Approaching him, you grasp his hand and offer, “Hey, we did it.”
“But how many died down there?” The Doctor frowns, his tone heavy with sorrow. The 15th and Donna approach, with Donna reassuringly stating, “That's not your fault.”
The 15th points out, “You can't save everyone.”
Your Doctor pouts, “Why not?”
The 15th Doctor pulls both you and him into a hug, soothingly saying, “Come here. I've got you. Yeah? It's okay. I'm here.”
As you let out a sigh of relief, exhausted to the events that occurred. Your mind wanders and you smile. This love will intimately understand you, resonating on certain levels as if it has always existed—a deep-seated yearning your soul has carried, anticipating the reunion with its heart, perpetually poised to return home to the facets of itself discovered in another being. It serves as a poignant reminder that hope can emanate from the fingertips of another human being, nestled within the layers of the uncharted aspects waiting to be unveiled.
You and the group re-enter the building, abandoning the helipad to solitude, save for a lone sentry stationed at the entrance. A faint echo of laughter seems to linger in the air, leaving you with an inexplicable sense of dread resonating from a distant place.

UNIT HEADQUARTERS, SUITE 17, LONDON – DAY 2023
INSIDE THE TARDIS
You observe as the Doctor maneuvers around the console, guiding his other incarnation through the intricacies. "That's the petrolink shatterfy compensator, moved from there to there. Hyperdynes. Er... fluid links, obviously," he explains, his hands deftly pointing out the components.
Your Doctor halts abruptly, stumbling over his words as he gazes at the version of himself standing on the bridge. "And, well, you know... things. But, er... how's it going to work? You and me. This is great, I think. Is it? But... How do we both...?”
“One thing you need in this place is a chair,” the 15th Doctor remarks, and you arch your eyebrows, glancing at your Doctor, who responds, “I'll be all right.”
The 15th shakes his head, emphasizing, “No, you're thin as a pin, love. You're running on fumes.”
You and Donna both sigh in agreement, stating, “That's what we keep saying.”
“I'm just... post-bi-generation,” your Doctor attempts to justify, but the 15th Doctor interjects, “Ha! It's more than that. Our whole lifetime. That Doctor that first met the Toymaker never, ever stopped. Put on trial, exiled, Key to Time, all the devastation of Logopolis.”
“Adric,” your Doctor says with a tinge of sadness, and the 15th nods, “Adric.”
Your Doctor's expression shifts to a sorrowful pout as he reminisces about the days and tragic events. “River Song. All the people we lost. Sarah Jane has gone. Can you believe that for a second?”
“I loved her,” your Doctor admits, and the 15th agrees, “I loved her. And Rose. But the Time War, Pandorica, Mavic Chen. We fought the Gods of Ragnarok, and we didn't stop for a second to say, ‘what the hell?’”
Your Doctor shakes his head, “But you're fine.” He gestures to his newly regenerated self, and the 15th says, “I'm fine because you fixed yourself. We're Time Lords. We're doing rehab out of order.”
You then gently interject, “He's saying you need to stop.”
Your Doctor shakes his head in disagreement, stating, “I don't know how.”
Donna takes a step forward, her words measured, “Well, I can tell you. Cos you know what I did when you went flying off in your blue box, Spaceman? I stayed in one place, and I lived day after day after day.”
“It would drive me mad,” your Doctor admits. You nod in agreement, stepping closer to him, your hand gently holding his cheek. “Same here. I’ll be honest, it was difficult… at first. Yeah. It does. But you keep on going. That’s what makes it special. You won’t exactly know what’s going to happen. And that's the adventure. The one adventure you've never had. Because I've... I've worked out what happened. The Flux caused a reset in the universe, no longer making my entire existence a threat to everyone. Then you changed your face, and then you found me. Do you know why?”
The Doctor is wide-eyed as you gaze into his chocolate brown eyes, and you give him a soft smile, “To come home.”
“Do you mean... he flies off?” The Doctor says as he glances at the 15th Doctor, tears welling up. “But I could never let the Tardis go. Never. It would hurt.”
The 15th Doctor approaches you two and leans against the console, stating, “Yeah, but... bi-generation has never happened before.” An idea begins to form in his mind, “What if...? What if!”
Eagerly, he dashes to the walkway, producing a 'test your strength' mallet. “What if the Toymaker's domain is still lingering? Just for a few seconds more, we're in a state of play. Oh! So maybe…”
The 15th Doctor steps out of the TARDIS, and the three of you follow after him. Shirley and Mel are waiting in the suite.
Excitedly, the 15th Doctor exclaims, “Hey! Watch this, watch this. Watch, watch, watch, watch. Stand back. Stand back. Go on, that's it, Donna. Oh! Wish me luck.”
“What for?” The Doctor asks, to which the 15th responds with a big smile, “We won the game. You get a prize, honey, and here is mine!” He swings at the side of the TARDIS, knocking a second one out. An exact duplicate stands on the left side of the original one.
“Ta-da!” The 15th shows off in a sing-songy voice before whispering to the TARDIS, “I am so sorry.”
Donna expresses with glee, “That is completely nuts,” and the 15th Doctor laughs in agreement.
The Doctor pushes the other TARDIS doors open and looks down. He unfolds a ramp, saying, “Oh, look! Oh, that's not bad. Wheelchair accessible.”
“At last! You finally caught up with the 21st century!” Shirley smiles, laughing.
“Yeah. Go on,” the 15th Doctor says to your Doctor, who steps inside to glance around as you wait outside. After a minute, he walks out, goes into the original TARDIS, and looks around. You watch as the 15th Doctor gives you a wink before stepping inside his TARDIS, and you let out a snort.
You see your Doctor exit the TARDIS and realize the 15th Doctor is missing. “Where is he? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!”
You follow your Doctor as he pushes open the other TARDIS doors, saying, “You weren't going to leave without saying goodbye, were you?”
The 15th Doctor mischievously grins as he replies, “As if I would ever do that. Come here. Come here, come here, come here, come here.” He hugs him and kisses you on the cheek, saying, “Look after him, you know? Now, you three, if you don't mind, there is a great big universe out there calling, and I've got to get going. So off you pop, old man.”
Your Doctor shakes his head, a playful glint in his eyes, “Oh. You're the old man. You're older than me.”
Donna nods in agreement, “Actually, that is true. He's younger because you came after him. So you're the older Doctor.”
The 15th Doctor rolls his eyes playfully, teasing, “Okay, kid. I love you. Get out!” He sets the Time Rotor in motion, and Donna rushes out of the TARDIS, yelping, “I'm not doing that again!”
Observing the Doctors salute each other, you hear him say to you, “I’ll see you soon.” Then the two of you exit.
Stepping into Suite 17, the group gathers as the Doctor remarks, “Shirley, I don't suppose you've seen this before. I don't see it often myself. Stand by.”
“Where's he going?” Mel asks, and the Doctor replies, “Everywhere.”
You watch as the TARDIS dematerializes, and you catch the soft whisper of the Doctor, “Good luck.”

DONNA’S GARDEN — DAY, 2023
The TARDIS is parked in Donna’s garden, a testament to the new chapter you and the Doctor were embarking on—cohabiting. Presently, the entire family savored a meal al fresco beneath the pergola adorned with wisteria in full bloom. The Doctor sat beside you, his hand resting casually on your thigh, a constant desire to connect, to be near.
“Right. The cast-iron pot is the vegan. Ta-da! And the one with the flowers is the chicken,” Shaun declares, placing the dish on the table. You hum and nod, and Shaun adds, “I think.”
Sylvia chimes in, pointing to the dish, “And this is cauliflower cheese, which doesn't really go with anything, but it was there.” Rose nods as they begin to take their seats.
Donna raises a hand, signaling for attention, “Anyway, shush, please, for the eyebrow story.”
“Oh, yes. So... this species only communicated with their eyebrows. I thought, I can do that,” the Doctor says with an unusually happy tone, a rare occurrence that visibly lifts the weight from his shoulders. He sits straighter, and with a flourish of his eyebrows, he continues the story, “So I'm stood there on this clifftop and I went... ‘I mean you no harm. I come in peace. I am your friend.’”
“Am I late?” Mel's voice breaks through, and you lift your head to see her sheepishly saying, “Sorry. The door was open. You don't mind?”
Sylvia dismisses her concern, cooing, “Oh, you're family, darling. Sit down.”
You glance at Mel and ask, “Did you drive?”
“No. I got a lift off a zingo,” Mel replies as she takes a seat next to you, prompting cheers and laughter from the group.
“A zingo!” Donna exclaims, and Sylvia smiles, “Oh, how strange.”
The Doctor continues his eyebrow-raising tale, “So, she looked at me, the Warrior Queen of the Felooth, and she said, ‘Good. And now... you will marry me.’ I said, ‘What?!’ And she pushed me off the cliff!”
Sylvia leans in over the table, asking, “But is it true, though? Is it really true?”
The Doctor looks to you, humming and shrugging, “Mmm…” You playfully shove his shoulder, and he kisses your cheek.
“We could always go in the Tardis and find out,” Rose suggests, but Shaun interjects, “Don't you dare.”
Donna sternly tells her daughter, “You are grounded until the Doctor feels better. Don't go sneaking off to Mars.”
“Again,” Rose says, and Donna goes wide-eyed, asking, “What does that mean?” She pointedly looks at the two of you.
“Oh, no. It was just once. Oh, you're in trouble,” the Doctor says, and you wince.
Mel explains, “They took me to New York last week. The Gilded Age. It was amazing.”
The Doctor shrugs, “Well, yeah. We just can't turn down my favourite niece.”
Rose smiles, “Ah! Niece. I like that.”
“Well, that's what you are. With my best friend, my brother-in-law, the evil stepmother…” The Doctor says, and Sylvia chuckles, “Oh, I have barely begun.” The Doctor continues, “..and Mad Aunty Mel.”
Mel chuckles, “Mad Aunty Mel!”
You all toast happily, exclaiming, “Mad Aunty Mel!”
The Doctor then places down his glass before lifting your left hand, now adorned with a gold band inscribed in Gallifreyan. He kisses your knuckles and says lovingly, “And of course, my soon-to-be wife.”
You can’t help but smile as you look at him. With him, you just open. The cost of staying fortified and hidden away becomes too high. With the Doctor, you lay down your arms. You let love rush in. You let it wash over you. You crack your shell, exposing your heart to this world, trusting that you are worthy of being seen there.
The Doctor then remembers, “And Grandad! Where is he?”
Sylvia says, “Oh, he's off shooting moles.”
The sound of a shotgun resonates, and you hum as the Doctor says, “Don't worry, I gave the moles a forcefield. I love the moles.”
Donna raises her eyebrows, asking, “You love the moles?”
The Doctor grins, “I love them. But here we are, Grandad and all. Who'd have thought? I ended up with a family.”
You feel the weight of his words settling in the cracks of your bones as your hearts thump in the silence. You lean your head on his shoulder, feeling him kiss the top of your head.
Shaun suddenly exclaims, “Oh, my God, I got it wrong. The vegan one is in the flowers.”
Rose groans, tossing her fork on the plate, “Urgh! What am I eating?”
“Oh... Don't worry.” Shaun tries to help. “We'll just… give it to Grandad.” Sylvia adds, “Don't make a fuss. Pass me your plate.”
Donna looks between the two of you, smiling as she says, “You don't have to stay forever.”
The Doctor glances at you, and you smile up at him, saying, “We'll see.”
“Do you miss it? Out there?” Donna asks.
The Doctor looks around, realizing he’s surrounded by love as he says, “The funny thing is, I fought all those battles for all those years, and now I know what for. This. I've never been so happy in my life.”
This love infuses honey into the core of your being; it's akin to a gentle warmth seeping into the very marrow of your bones. Witnessing how it learns about you, fights on your behalf, and remains steadfast through life's storms by your side, you're reminded of the profound connection often overshadowed by the preference for distance over depth in this world. It's a reminder that hope emanates from the touch of another, concealed within the layers of undiscovered facets. You now comprehend that love was always intended to be gentle, always meant to be tender, as evidenced by the Doctor intertwining his fingers with yours, accompanied by a bright grin. Your bones are safe, and your heart can rest assured it belongs to him. Your world transforms, cradled by the comforting embrace that is the Doctor.
“So,” Donna begins as she chews her food and swallows as he smiles at her best friends, “When’s the wedding?”

Anonymous: Can I request more headcannons with Alcina and toddler YN?
Absolutely! Read the post this ask is talking about here! Let’s get into it!
For a while after you were adopted, you could only fall asleep in Alcina’s arms. Forget sleeping in a crib. She had to hold you or you simply wouldn’t sleep.
Eventually, you felt safe enough to sleep in your sisters’ arms.
Bela couldn’t stop grinning the first time you fell asleep on her. She was honored.
Cass gently nuzzled her face on your head and softly purred in contentment. She was happy that you felt comfortable enough to sleep on her chest.
When you dozed off on Dani for the first time, she cried. Like, a lot. She cried so hard that she woke you up and you began wailing right along with her. Alcina ended up having to hold you both to get the two of you to stop.
Alcina loved having you with her. She would tell you what she was doing while she sat at her desk and her voice was so soothing. She would hold you on her lap as she worked and softly rubbed your head.
When you learned how to crawl, it was hard for Alcina to keep you in one spot. She eventually got a little playpen for you, but you hated it. You wanted to explore. You’d throw little tantrums and get so loud that Alcina called for either Bela, Cass, or Dani to come and take you to their room so she could get some things accomplished.
You were definitely a handful once you became a toddler. Even with four full-grown women looking after you.
You liked to chew on things, too. Alcina once walked into her room to find you mouthing and drooling all over her makeup and shoes. She was not happy.
You also liked to flush things down the toilet. One time, you stole a bunch of Dani’s stuffed animals and tried to flush them, but… It just clogged the toilet and made a huge mess. Dani cried, once again.
You were spoiled. Alcina commissioned lots of toys and clothes from Donna for you.
Alcina loved playing with you and reading you stories. She always read to you before you went to bed at night.
Your first word was “Mama” (Naturally). Alcina gasped and praised you for doing a good job. She picked you up and held you close while she kissed you repeatedly which made you giggle.
When you took your first steps, Alcina was incredibly proud, but also knew she was in trouble. Once you were able to walk, it was going to be even more of a challenge to keep up with you.
You were so energetic that you could cause multiple catastrophes in the span of only a few minutes. It was frightening, really.
The girls found that they really enjoyed swarming after you before you could cause any damage. It stimulated their prey drive. However, after a while… You got better at evading them and they would often lose you which scared the hell out of them. It started to become less fun and more terrifying.
Even Cass would be exhausted after chasing after you for a few hours. Now, that was truly a feat.
“Where did they go?!” Bela shouted as the three managed to lose sight of you, once again.
Dani groaned in frustration before noticing something. “Maybe we should follow that trail of baby drool?” She asks, pointing at conspicuous puddles of saliva on the floor.
Cass shook her head. “It’s just a diversion, I’m sure!” She says.
Bela rolled her eyes. “Y/N’s a baby, not some criminal mastermind!” She snaps.
Just then, the three of them heard a chorus of “Aww’s” from the kitchen… In the exact opposite direction. It seems that some of the maidens had found you.
Cass smirked triumphantly at her sister. “See?” She asks.
“Shut up.” Bela rolls her eyes and swarms to go get you.
Alcina had many family portraits done over the years. The first year she was holding you in her arms while the girls stood beside you both. It was adorable.
When you were sick, Alcina rocked you in her arms and spoke gently to you. While being sick sucked, Alcina made you feel a lot better.
Alcina took you to regular check-ups with Mother Miranda. The priestess was thrilled to have another grandchild.
“Can you say Grandma, Y/N?” She asks you during one of your appointments.
You giggle and say “Mama” instead.
Miranda pouts, but Alcina is secretly proud.
Your life as a Dimitrescu was charmed from the start. Your family loves you so very much.

Hi 🤍 I have a request if you don't mind... So, remember that scene in season 2 where Billy enters the room and and sees Max getting ready for the Snowball ?
I believe that Neil punished Billy for not bringing Max home that night. I think in addition to hitting him, he probably also forbade him to go to that ball. I mean, everyone is preparing for the ball but him: he's not ready at all and doesn't seem to be about to go out.
And that's where my idea came from. Could you write a fic where Reader, who is best friends with Billy, decides to secretly visit him that night (through the window) and keep him company instead of going to the Snowball because she really likes him and doesn't want him to be alone ? In the end they have an amazing time together (laughing, listening to music and maybe slow-dancing too) and Billy is all flustered because he didn't expect anyone to think of him that way. 🥺🤍🤍🤍
May I Have This Dance?
Pairing : Billy Hargrove x Fem!Reader
Summary : ^^^^^
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Warnings : Swearing, Billy calls the reader babe, Neil Hargrove shows up at the end for a brief moment.
Word Count : 907
A/N : Requests are open. Thank you @moonlightfountain for the request, I hope I did your beautiful idea justice!!

The Snowball, something that every teen looked forward to but not that everyone could afford. You knew that Max was going to go along with Billy who had two different girls to take.
"Why do you even need two dates?" Billy chuckled, "One for each arm, babe."
You knew there was an incident but that was all you knew. You drove past the school, everything lit up, girls in their dresses and boys in their slacks and nice shirts as you drove to Cherry Lane. Billy's Camaro was on the road, Neil's truck was nowhere to be seen. You drove to your friend's house a few houses down before walking to Billy's house.
Once you made it you tested his window, seeing that it was unlocked before carefully sliding it open and climbing through. Billy laid on his bed, cigarette between his slightly chapped lips, Motley Crue Shout At The Devil vinyl playing in the corner of his room. "B," he looked over at you, his eye beginning to bruise a little. "What're you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at the stupid dance?" You shook your head, shutting his window.
"Vickie said you cancelled so I came over here to check on you." He nodded, blowing out the mouthful of smoke, "Well, I'm alive, you can leave now." You rolled your eyes and made your way to his bed, the bed was small but you made it work. He looked at you, "Why are you still here? You have a date." You waved him off, "He'll understand, you're me important to me than some stupid dance plus we still have prom to go to so I'm not missing anything important."
He nodded and put out the cigarette before he turned to you, "Was Vickie mad?" You laughed, "I think she was more mad at the fact that you had two dates." He laughed with you, his nose scrunching a little. Vince Neil sang in the background as you both talked. "Okay but what fruit do you think you'd be?" Billy raised a brow, "A fruit?" You nodded and he hummed, pretending to think. "Pineapple, I use it to make my cum taste good." Your jaw dropped, you couldn't help it and Billy cackled, trying not to fall off of his bed.
"Are you serious?" He laughed and shook his head, "No, just pulling your leg but your reaction was priceless." You shook your head, flicking him off. "Can I change the record?" Billy nodded and you sifted through his contained of them, making comments here and there, "Donna Summer?" Billy laughed, "Hey, don't judge. I don't judge you for your weird obsession with rockstars." You rolled your eyes and grabbed the She Works Hard For the Money record and you turned up the volume a little and you laid back down, the record sleeve in your hand so you could see the tracklist.
Every song had passed before I Do Believe (I Feel In Love) and you stood up. "May I have this dance," you asked, putting your hand out and Billy raised a brow, "You serious?" You nodded, "As serious as you are about that car out there." He laughed and stood up, taking your hand in his and he turned up the volume once more. He kicked his bed a little to make room to dance considering he had the smallest room in the house.
You and me, we're together.
He pulled you to his body quickly, taking you by surprise. "I don't know how to dance." You laughed, "Me neither." You both laughed and swayed to the music.
I do believe I fell in love.
He quickly spun you before catching your hip in his hand and one of your hands moved to his shoulder as you held the other as you guys danced around the room.
Oh let me love you. Oh let me kiss you. Baby, I'm fallin', your love is a callin'.
"You trust me?" "Sometimes." He laughed and spun you again before dipping you slowly, his curls falling to frame both of your faces. Your breath hitched, your eyes searching his blue ones, his pupils dilating and he leaned in a little before the front door slammed shut and you both quickly pulled away a little, you trying to catch your footing and he quietly apologized and turned his music down.
"Billy," Neil yelled out and Billy looked at you, his eyes sad. "Go home, I can deal with him." You nodded and squeezed his hand, making sure you had your jacket before climbing out of his window and you jogged to your car. You took backroads back to your house, thinking about what had just happened.
Was Billy going to kiss you? Would you have let him kiss you? Is Billy attracted to you? Is that why his pupils dilated?
You asked yourself questions until you got back home and continued to ask them as you made your way to your bedroom. You got yourself ready for bed and as you laid down you came to your conclusion.
You're in love with your best friend.
You sighed and looked at your bedside table to see a picture of Billy as Lover's Lake as he looked at the stars, the cherry of the cigarette lit up as he took a pull from it. You smiled, admiring the picture before you fell asleep, wondering how Billy felt about you.

Clowning Around
Tumblr media
Summary: Little Charlie (~7 years old) is disappointed to find her brother doesn't think her costume is scary so she kicks the acting up a notch.
Prompt: “You look so cute!” “I’m not supposed to look cute! I’m supposed to scare you!”
Characters: Harvey Specter, Gordon Specter, Donna Paulsen & Charlie Specter
Warnings: Just some references to scary movies and clowns, lack of proof reading. 🙃
Donna set the phone down, heaving a sigh as she looked over the paperwork covering Harvey’s office. “Your dad and sister are on their way up.”
Harvey tossed the file he was reading over down on the small meeting table in front of him and rubbed at his temples. “They’re early.”
Donna shrugged. She knew he’d told his dad to come closer to 1:00, hoping they’d get as much time with the documents as they could, but technically, Harvey was late. Nearly a day late. If this weekend had gone according to plan, Harvey would’ve spent last night out in Riverside with his dad and sister. And after bringing Charlie in on the commuter train this morning, he would’ve spent the morning doing whatever she wanted before heading over to the Halloween dog parade over in Tompkins Square Park. On paper, it sounded like a nightmare. Like something Harvey Specter would have no interest in…but he had been looking forward to it.
He rarely openly expressed it, but Harvey had always liked Halloween. And something about having a kid sister had made it acceptable for him to like it again. A reason to go back to Riverside at the end of September to help them decorate for the holiday. A reason to dress up and go trick or treating. A reason to go to the silly little dog parade his sister had learned about courtesy of an ill-timed news segment. It gave Harvey an excuse to live a little. Because if anyone asked, he was doing it for his sister. For his dad.
Harvey tried to help his dad out. He tried to do most of the travel, carting Charlie to and from the city on the weekends that warranted it because of whatever plans she made with her brothers…so rare was it that Charlie sought their father’s permission, simply informing him ‘Harvey’s taking me here next weekend,’ or ‘I’m going to there with Marcus.’ It wasn’t like Gordon was going to say no to Harvey or Marcus being involved in their sister’s life…his life, so whenever Charlie told her father there was something planned with Harvey, he went ahead and called Donna. Confirmed the details with Donna. Writing whatever off-hand promise Harvey had made to his sister in stone…or at least in his calendar.
This weekend had been in his calendar for weeks, the type of thing that Harvey hadn’t actually needed reminders about since he was looking forward to it…but that was all before Donna accepted a delivery on Friday at 3 pm—boxes and boxes of documents that took up the entirety of Harvey’s office and a conference room down the hall.
Harvey didn’t hear the elevator ding, but he could tell the moment his sister stepped onto the floor, the rush of her small footsteps somehow carrying to him all the way in his office. She kept her excitement contained there—using the extra energy to close the space between them because she knew she wasn’t allowed to yell and shout in her brother’s office. She refrained even though she did question if it was a real rule. Charlie had seen plenty of her brother’s co-workers yelling.
And anyway, there didn’t seem to be anyone here on a Saturday, but Charlie waited until she could see her brother through the glass wall of windows before shouting his name and sprinting into a run, maneuvering through the open doors and around the furniture to launch herself into his arms. Harvey caught her, leaning back into the chair a bit as he absorbed her momentum, unable to stop his laughter as some of her energy transferred to him.
“Hi, Charlie,” Harvey said as he pulled her into his lap. “Where’s dad?”
Charlie stayed pressed against him, but lifted one arm, pointing back towards the door.
Harvey chuckled, holding her as their father entered the room, bags of food in hand. Harvey greeted his father and Charlie finally shifted away from her brother’s chest.
“We brought lunch,” she said, nodding towards their father.
“Your sister wanted to make sure you gave Donna a proper lunch break,” Gordon offered as Donna cleared a spot for him to set down the bags. The look he gave Harvey was clear enough that Harvey knew that their early arrival was in fact Charlie’s idea…Charlie’s insistence. Harvey was sure the girl had been driving their father mad all morning trying to get them on the earliest train into the city that she could negotiate. He was impressed his father had held out this long.
“You been reading up on Department of Labor laws lately?” Harvey tickled his sister’s side.
“No!” Charlie giggled as she shot out of his lap, bumping into the table as she tried to get away from him, but Harvey easily trapped her squirming form in his grasp, a facetiously stern eyebrow raised in question. “But Dad said you probably haven’t taken a break all day and I know that’s illegal. In school we get lunch and recess.”
“Yeah, well, Donna’s not giving recess,” Harvey answered, “But Dad’s right.”
Neither Harvey or Donna had even considered lunch. Harvey hadn’t even gone home the night before, but now that he could smell the food, he was starving.
Charlie squealed when Harvey scooped her up and settled her on the table in front of him.Her dirty sneakers narrowly missed Harvey’s leg as they dangled off the table and Harvey shifted back in his seat. He stroked his chin as he looked at her, observing her costume now that he could see her properly.
She was dressed in some type of brightly colored clown suit, her hair was in pigtails and haphazardly spray-painted in a bright red hue. And her face…her face was painted white with all the accouterments of a clown. All of it a bit smudged from the time she’d spent pressed against his chest.
Harvey was suddenly glad he’d at some point removed the suit jacket he’d worn yesterday…not that the shirt he was wearing was cheap…far from it, but at least it would be easier to clean. And thanks to Donna stopping by his apartment, he had a change of clothes to switch into.
“So you really ditched me to be a clown this year?”
Charlie told him weeks ago that he would have to come up with a costume without her. After years of them matching—characters from Top Gun, The Godfather, and Ferris Bueller—Charlie had informed him she was striking out on her own. She wouldn't tell him what she had planned, just that paired costumes were out.
“It’s no Sundance Kid—” Butch and Sundance had been Harvey’s suggestion for this year— “But you look cute.”
Charlie scowled, twisting to scowl at their father before turning back to Harvey, her arms pressed across her chest. “I’m not supposed to look cute! I’m supposed to scare you!”
Harvey’s eyes slid from Charlie to their father who shrugged, his hands raised in defeat.
“Hey, I tried,” he said. “I’m a musician, not a makeup artist, Charlie.”
Harvey sensed this had already been a discussion between them, that he was late to something and tried to make light of it.
“Well, I guess clowns are pretty scary,” Harvey conceded. “Especially that Ronald McDonald guy.”
Harvey watched his Dad’s face over Charlie’s head as he said it, the look in his eyes telling Harvey he’d stepped in something. Shit.
“I’m not Ronald McDonald!” Charlie shouted, pushing herself off the table and getting up in his face. “I'm every nightmare you ever had. I am your worst dream come true! I'm everything you ever were afraid of!”
“You’re Pennywise?” Harvey raised an eyebrow. “Who the hell let you watch It?”
Charlie shrugged, shrinking back from her brother’s tone—a note of surprise, mostly, but a fair bit of anger, too. She was too young for that sort of stuff as far as Harvey was concerned. Even if some of the stuff Harvey let her watch was a little mature for her too…well, that was different. He was just trying to make sure the kid had a solid foundation in quality film, not scar her for life.
“Your brother,” Gordon answered. “She had nightmares for a week.”
“No!” Charlie argued, shaking her head. “I liked it!”
“Well, good. You watch that crap with Marcus.” Because I won’t. Harvey didn’t say it, but horror movies weren’t his thing. Never had been. Not that he was scared. He just didn’t like them. Cheap thrills and crappy production value. Harvey had standards, after all.
“Marcus said scary movies are good. You just don’t like them because you’re a scaredy cat.”
“Did he now?” Harvey asked.
Charlie opened her mouth to continue, but Gordon interrupted.
“That’s enough, Charlie,” Gordon said. “It’s time to eat.”
He was amazed that the boys didn’t realize by now that anything one of them said about the other in Charlie’s presence went right back to them. Or maybe Marcus did realize and that had been his intention. To rile his brother from afar. He could never be too sure. The boys liked to pick at each other just as much now as they had when they were kids. And their sister was a convenient weapon.
Charlie and Marcus had been on the phone a few times that week. That wasn’t too out of the norm. Charlie liked talking with her brothers, but from what he’d overheard there hadn’t been much talking aside from the two of them reviewing Pennywise’s more infamous lines.
“But what about my face?” Charlie whined. “Harvey said I’m not even scary!”
“I never said—”
“You said I was cute!” she pouted and Harvey had a fleeting thought that if his sister was hellbent on tantruming all afternoon, that in itself was far more frightening than any costume she could wear. He was about to say something to the effect, about to suggest that she rein in the dramatics, when his dad cleared his throat.
“How about you come and eat your lunch and we’ll fix your costume when we’re done?”
Charlie hesitated, part of her hellbent on being upset, but Donna stepped closer, leaning down to meet Charlie’s eye. She held out a small paper boat, something she’d folded up in the few minutes that Charlie and Harvey had been talking.
“Did anyone ever tell you that I used to do theater, little chick?” Donna asked. “I can make you look so scary you’ll give your brother nightmares. Go on kiddo, take it.”
Charlie giggled at Donna’s impersonation and took the boat in her hand, a terrifying grin on her face as she turned towards Harvey, any resemblance to a ‘cute’ clown gone entirely even with her shoddy makeup.
Charlie held the boat out to her brother. “You want it, don't you, Harvey? Oh, of course you—”
Harvey scooped his sister up in his arms before she could finish quoting the clown…before it could really settle in how creepy it was…Charlie looking at her brother like that, speaking to him with that voice. As Harvey’s fingers dug into Charlie’s sides, the facade quickly slipped and all resemblance to the dancing clown wiped away from his sister’s sweet face as she squealed and giggled in his arms.
“What I want is for you to eat your lunch,” he answered as he plopped her down into the seat at his desk, pushing her in, grateful when she didn’t fight him or start imitating the clown again, instead digging into the piece of pizza Gordon set in front of her.
“And next year, no creepy clowns for Halloween,” he said.
Charlie turned towards him as she chewed on a bite of her pizza, a contemplative look in her eye. “This pizza’s not as good as eating—”
“Alright, quit clowning around. You’re scaring your brother,” Gordon interrupted before Charlie could make mention of the clown’s favorite pastime of devouring children.
Harvey gave his father a look, no appreciate spared for his pun. “No, she’s not,” he argued, but Donna and Gordon were both smirking at them.
“That’s okay, Harvey,” Charlie said, that deeply unsettling smile back in place as she turned to him. “Be afraid. You all taste so much better when you’re afraid.”

Oh really hope it's not a big deal because I have a lot of ideas. But also how I remember is that all your work is burned in my brain. I know for sure that is what I remember. But I have another one for sub Steven. So how about Steven is living a cushy life with Dom male reader and has been eating a lot becausereader cooks for him. But then notices that he is starting to get a little chubby and doesn't want to have sex with reader thinking he won't like it. But then they talk and reader says he will always love him even if he thinks he is getting chubby which leads to soft sex and reader praising Steven body but mostly focusing on his tummy.( I feel like I've requested this before and if I did then am sorry.)-🐻‍❄️
Trust me my 50%! It's not a big deal at all I love every single idea you have for me 🐻‍❄!
Warnings! Smut, dry humping, grinding, insecurities, small chubby Steven, soft dom reader, tiny tiny argument but made up, service top reader.
CHUBBY STEVEN GRANT X SOFT DOM MALE READER
Tumblr media
Y/n was in the kitchen singing the lyrics to the music from the small speaker he recently bought as he cooks. Steven watches hopelessly in love watching Y/n dance to the music.
Steven wore a baggy shirt with sweats trying to cover up his figure the best he can. He knew deep inside Y/n would most likely still love him, but he didn't want to ruin what he had.
Steven didn't know how he managed to be in a relationship like this. Only a few months ago Steven lived in an empty apartment, woke up feeling like he got hit by a bus and was so lonely.
But ever since the company dinner he attended his life changed.
They were at a restaurant where you could see the chefs cook in front of you. The company's station was big and fancy and their chef was the most handsomest man they ever met.
Tiny little memory
Everybody made comments about his looks to his face causing him to either smile respectfully and a polite thank you or flirt back with them. Donna was the one to ask for his name. "Y/n L/n. Or chef L/n." Y/n says with a smile before going back to cooking the dish.
Steven thought he was handsome as well. But unlike his co-workers he didn't have the courage to act on his thoughts. But luckily the chef had his own thoughts he was about to work on.
"The chef made this specifically for you. And added his signature alongside the dish." A waiter says trying to bite back a smile and a giggle placing the cake in front of Steven alongside a small paper with a phone number. Steven stares at the cake on the icing and reads "I think you're cute and i'll love to ask you out on a date one day." Steven blushes madly as the waiter giggles at his cuteness.
Few hours past and after the dinner Steven goes into an different part of town leading into a couple apartments as rain pours down hard trying to go through short cuts to home, but he didn't expect the same chef from dinner smoking shirtless with only boxers covering him on the balcony.
Steven stares up at him in a trance.
"Hey you're that cute guy from earlier right!?" Y/n shouts looking down at Steven not even caring about the cold rain that hit his half naked body. "Y-yes!" Steven shouts back watching a smile crawl on Y/n's lips.
"Room number is 532 on floor seven! Come up alright! it's dark and raining something bad will be bound to happen." Y/n says taking one more hit of the cigarette before taking it out walking back inside his room. Steven quickly rushes inside and speed walks to the elevator going up to floor seven. Once Steven arrives at the floor and goes to the said room number he goes to knock, but is cut off by the door swinging open.
"Hey cutie~ Cmon lets get you warm and dry."
End of memory.
"Steven~ I present to you the lovely worldwide famous blueberry pancakes!" Y/n says laying the plate on the table in front of Steven. Y/n puts down his own food before getting something to drink for the both of them.
Y/n pours the drinks and places them down at the table before finally sitting down at the table across Steven. The two are silent Y/n only eating his food while Steven staring down at his food thinking with a sad face.
"What's the matter Steven?" Y/n finally points out and putting down his forks looking at Steven. "It's nothing love." Steven shoots down trying to keep Y/n from worrying. "Cmon Stevey you can tell me." Y/n says giving Steven all his attention. "I said it's nothing you don't have to worry--"
"Then why aren't you eating?" Y/n cuts him off. "Why are you trying to argue about nothing?" Steven bites back raising his voice a little. "I'm not trying to argue- i'm just worrying about you like a normal boyfriend would." Y/n answers before opening his mouth about to add on but Steven just stands up from his seat walking to the bathroom.
"S-Steven!" Y/n shouts but Steven just ignores him going inside the bathroom shutting and locking the door.
Y/n quickly stands up from his seat rushing to the door trying to open it.
Steven softly cries to himself staring at the mirror noticing his stomach and thighs through the clothes. 'h-he won't like it. He doesn't want to see me like this.' Steven thinks to himself even though he was only getting a little bit chubby he couldn't stand to think and look at himself anymore.
Y/n presses his cheek to the door trying to hear anything. Y/n could hear Steven slump down back pressed up the door sitting on the floor. He could hear soft crying and sniffling. Y/n instinctively sits on the floor copying Steven slightly hoping that he feels his presence. "Steven...please talk to me. Please just say something." Y/n speaks laying his head against the door with a sigh once he's met with silence again.
After sitting there in silence for a while Y/n stands up from the ground. "I'll be in our room alright. Please come out and talk to me once you're ready." Y/n says before giving the door one last knock before going into his room.
Only a little while later Y/n is on the bed stressing about all the things he has done lately. "Y-y/n." Steven voice rings out barley above a whisper. Y/n's head pops up looking at Steven. Y/n pats an empty spot on the bed beside him.
Steven goes over to the spot and sits quietly fidgeting with his hands as he does it. "I don't think you'll like my body now. I-I gained some weight and I-I don't think you'll like my body as much as you used to." Steven finally confesses looking at Y/n teary eyed.
"Thats why we haven't been having sex in like almost a month isn't? Because you think I won't like your body?" Y/n says earning a nod yes from Steven.
"It's embarrassing and I know you won't feel the same way as you used to-" Steven gets cut off by Y/n's pair of lips kissing him shutting him up. Y/n pulls away and smiles.
"Shut up. I will always love you even if you think you're getting chubby. You'll always be perfect to me no matter what. I'll love you through any change you have. Now please let me show how much I love you!" Y/n says trying to reassure him before wrapping his arms around Steven laying him down on the bed. Y/n begins to take off the baggy shirt off of Steven trying to be as gentle as he can. Once the shirt is off Y/n moves his hands to the waistband of the sweats pulling them off slowly.
With only boxers covering Steven Y/n begins to strip out of his clothes. Tossing his shirt and pants aside. Y/n also stayed in his underwear before spreading Steven's legs open crawling in between them.
Slowly Y/n begins to rock his hips back and forth grinding and humping on Steven as he begins to kiss Steven's shoulders and chest. Y/n's hard cock pressed up against Steven as he humps him slowly.
"Such a beautiful boy you are." Y/n breathes out pulling Steven's underwear down letting his hard cock fly free. Y/n tosses the underwear where he threw the other clothes and continues to grind on him.
Steven softly moans as he grinds his ass down on Y/n's hard clothed cock already feeling precum-leaked from his tip. Y/n moves away slightly grabbing lube from the dresser and opens it.
He pulls down his own underwear before applying the lube onto it lubing up his cock. Giving his cock a few strokes making sure every spot is covered in lube. Y/n grabs onto Steven's hips softly pulling him down onto the tip of his cock. Y/n rubs his cock head against Steven's hole before entering him. Steven breathes heavy not being used to Y/n's cock inside him again feeling his cock split him in half. ''s-so big!~" Steven moans out moving his own hips down moving deeper inside Y/n's cock.
Y/n begins to move thrusting slowly inside Steven rocking his hips back and forth while massaging and holding every curve on Steven's body. "I love you so much... And especially your tummy." Y/n says before running his hands across Steven's stomach. "You feel so good inside me baby." Y/n whispers thrusting his full cock inside Steven and holding that position for a while before going back to his original pace.
Steven didn't understand why he was about to cum so early. Usually he'll try to last longer but he couldn't hold it this time.
"Y/N!I bout to cum~ I'm gonna cum!" Steven moans out throwing his head back as Y/n's cock hits his prostate over and over again.
"Cum for me. Cum all over that beautiful tummy of yours baby." Y/n orders. Without second thought Steven cums hard white streaks shooting out his tip all over himself.
Most of his load landed on his stomach and some else where. Steven's vision was fuzzy and his body felt warm throughout.
"Good job baby~ Still so beautiful even more beautiful than before." Y/n says before pulling out. "B-but you didn't get to cum yet!?!" Steven says before getting brushed off by Y/n.
"This was and for you Steven not for me. I wanted to show how much I love you no matter what."

Can I ask what are your favourite Black Clover OC x CC ships from your mutuals? Ignore this ask if it's too much romance for you 😅
Hi there, Anon-friend! Thank you for the ask! There are a lot of really nice and well thought out OC x CC pairings in the Black Clover fandom, and I certainly have a lot of respect for everyone who takes the time, passion, and inspiration to make these OCs and their ships. Even though I'm not usually that into shipping (despite what the past few days of ship specific content on this blog might seem to imply), I have definitely enjoyed many Black Clover OC x CC pairings in the fandom, but from my Tumblr mutuals specifically, I think I've actually talked about most of my favorites as part of this ask game already. 😊
The only one of my all-time favorites that come to mind that's missing is @delicious-donna/@delirious-donna's Alina x Magna from Chasing the Sparks (AO3 Link) which is another that's probably just permanently part of my personal canon now. I personally find it very compelling because I think they're very well suited for each other. Alina is kind of this gentle and steady constant in the chaos of Magna’s life and Magna’s enthusiasm and loyalty really encourages her to build confidence and believe in herself and her abilities. They really bring out the best in each other, and it's very, very sweet. I also just adore Alina as a character (and not just because she's Finral and Langris's cousin though that is just a major bonus and I loved getting to write about their platonic cousin relationship in the story Donna requested, "Melting Snowman," and in a really fun collaboration project that unfortunately never got finished). But yes, they are wonderful and definitely an all-time favorite of mine. 💖
In terms of my other personal favorites from my Tumblr moots that I've already talked about, I'll just list them and link to the posts where I rambled about them already:
@loosesodamarble's Nacht x Josele (discussed here)
@lyranova's William x Zera (discussed here)
@thoughtfullyrainynightmare's Fuegoleon x Solara (discussed here)
@kalolasfantasyworld's Nozel x Helena (and I also really enjoy Gabriel x Vanessa, both of which are discussed in this post)
And a shout out to a new (and unexpected) favorite, @vilandel's Solid x Rosette which I just discovered during this ask game but definitely really enjoyed and rambled about here.
All of that said, shipping is very subjective and really based on very personal feelings, opinions, and preferences, as well as headcanons and perceptions of the characters. These are just the pairings that are my cup of tea and personally really compelling to me. I also only included pairings from my Tumblr moots. There are ships from friends from other places and a few from some relative strangers that I've seen floating around that I enjoy, but these are definitely my favorites from my Tumblr friends and pairings that I really think of as part of my personal canon for Black Clover and the characters' futures. Thanks for asking! 💕

Crash and burn
tenth doctor x fem!reader
Summary: The Doctor tries to teach reader how to fly the tardis. 'tries' being the operative word.
fluff, fun and chaos all in one!
Tumblr media
"Look, everything's going to be fine!" Y/n stated, though at that moment she pulled a little too hard on the leaver, causing it to snap from the console and lay futile in her hand.
Donna cringed from where she had been watching in amuesment on the pilot seat while the Doctor's jaw dropped, absoloutely flabbergasted at what had just unfolded.
"Oops." Y/n grimaced before nonchalantly chucking it over her shoulder. She shrugged then added, carelessly: "Hope that wasn't important."
The Doctor scoffed, taking long strides to reach Y/n but to no avail as she backed away quicker, hands pressing down on random buttons with a grin.
"No!" He protested, trying to swat her hands away from the console. "Nope! Never mind! This was, evidently, a very bad idea! Step away from the console - Y/n don't press that button!"
Y/n's hand hovered over the big red button, before she rolled her eyes at the panic on the Doctor's face and retreated. "As if I would. Who else, but you, is stupid enough to press a red button?"
At her words, Donna snorted, resulting in the Doctor spinning on his heel with an offended expression. "Hey!"
"Sorry," Donna apologised, though with less conviction when she attempted to muffle her giggles with her hand. "But is she wrong?"
He merely grunted in response, rotating his head back to look at Y/n, who was leaning her elbows on the console with a small smile on her lips. "I'm sorry. I was just messing. Ready to learn now. Promise."
He pouted like a petulant child, arms crossing over his chest. "Really?"
Y/n chuckled, stalking over to him and rubbing her thumb on his cheek, admiring the pink tint that soon followed. "Really." She nodded, pressing a quick peck to his lips, then laughing lightly at the smile of his own forming, despite his best efforts.
"Eugh, do you have to?!" Donna complained from afar. "Thought we had a rule about PDA on the tardis."
"Sorry, Donna." They both muttered in unison. Though the Doctor's hand lingered on Y/n's, and he held it with a light grip whilst swaying it back and forth, his eyes shining at her laughter.
"Come on."He instructed softly, leading her to the console once more.
At this Y/n dramatically gasped, shoving her hands in the air and she asked mockingly. "You sure you trust me enough, Mr-touch-one-wrong-button-and-the-world-will-implode?"
He just laughed, shaking his head fondly. "Oh, just shut up and drive."
Donna clicked her fingers, excitedly. "Rhianna!" She said, smiling wide. Though it faltered at the the incredulous looks she was receiving from the Doctor and Y/n. "Shut up and drive?" She continued, voice sounding unsure now. When their faces didn't change, the redhead just rolled her eyes before dismissing them. "Never mind."
The Doctor eyed her for a few seconds, giving her a dubious look. "Anyway!" He changed the subject, turning back to Y/n with a cheeky grin. "Ready to fly?"
Y/n clicked her tongue, offering a smug smile. "Oh, I was born ready."
"Aha! Where'd you want to go?"
"Donna?" Y/n looked at her friend, who shrugged her shoulders, showing that she had no preference. "Hmm.." She deliberated until clapping her hands gleefully, presenting she had made a decision to the timelord and Donna. "let's go to space florida!"
"Yeah?" The Doctor asked, a little disappointed. He wanted to go somewhere there was adventure, not for a relaxing trip. Upon seeing her mind made up, he just sighed. "Alright," he mumbled, yet he soon perked up when he realised he was going to teach her how to fly. "Right! Pull that leaver, first!"
"This one?" Y/n asked, hand wrapping around the blue leaver. When he nodded, she smiled wide. "Allonsy!" She shouted, smugly.
The Doctor gaped at her. "Oi! That's my lin-oop" His protests were cut short as the console erupted in flames and the tardis shook with force, pushing donna from her seat as the Doctor rushed to cover Y/n.
"What did you do?" He asked in a high voice, all three of them sat on the shaky ground.
"ME?" Y/n countered, pointedly. "I did what you told me to!"
"God, spaceman. Don't you need to pass a test or something to fly this? Or at least to teach someone else how to fly it?" Donna accused, coughing at the smoke.
The Doctor grimaced a little, then admitted sheepishly. "Yeah, and I failed." His two companions sent him cynical looks. He feigned innocence. "What?"

Eric Defending Donna
A rabbit hole I went down for... reasons. Decided to share for funsies.
Season 2 -
In Eric Gets Suspended, Donna is smoking a cigarette on school property and when a teacher catches her, Eric says it's his. He is suspended as a result.
Mentioned in a diary entry that I think is meant to take place sometime in season 2 or 3 - Eric and Donna go to a dive bar to watch the superbowl, and a big, dumb guy starts hitting on Donna. Eric comes to her defense and asks the guy to step outside - while he and Donna slip out the side door (😂).
Season 3 -
At the end of the roller disco episode, Eric comes into the basement and starts whaling on Kelso (and the guys gleefully join in). He shouts, "Donna told me what you did, you dillhole!" Eric was hitting Kelso because he'd made a pass at Donna at the roller disco.
In the ice shack episode, Eric and Donna play the Newlywed Game vs. Jackie and Kelso. Through one of the questions, it is revealed that Donna's told Eric she hates her huge feet. He insists in front of everyone that he doesn't think they're big, and then pivots to insisting that big feet are actually a good thing (😂).
Eric also defended her after he pantsed her in the driveway and Hyde was teasing Donna and calling her Granny Panties. "So what if she wears big panties?" 😂🤣😭
Season 4 -
Eric believes Casey Kelso is manipulating Donna. He tells him not to let Donna believe he cares about her if it's not true, and to let her go rather than hurt her. When Casey disregards his words, Eric threatens to kick his ass (if he makes Donna cry).
He is also very protective of her after the incident with Casey Kelso at the Le Motel. He tells her that he thinks Casey's all wrong for her and that they're moving way too fast.
Season 5 -
When Bob enrolls Donna in the Catholic school, Eric 'marches' over to talk to Bob and try to convince him to let Donna stay at school with him/her friends. He brings a crumb cake to bribe him. He even says he is "prepared to fight this with every fiber of my being" - until he sees her uniform. 🤣
Eric's Grandma Bea is rude towards Donna, seeming to imply that Eric can and should find someone better to marry. While Eric initially enjoys the fact that someone thinks Donna's the lucky one and he's the catch, he eventually tells his grandma that she has got to give Donna a chance, and that if she does she will love her. (Though unfortunately it doesn't work, *lol*)
Jackie's upset with Eric and Donna for threatening to tell Kelso about her secret relationship with Hyde, so in a snappy moment she refers to Donna as a 'big red whore'. Eric tells her to watch what she says.
Season 6 -
When they have their pregnancy scare and their parents confront them in the living room, Donna has to ask him to step in (*lol*), but he does, and says, "Look, whether we're pregnant or not, Donna and I can run our own lives." Unfortunately the next sentence out of his mouth was... utter crap.
After Mitch takes Donna to his brother's wedding and then lied and embarrassed her in front of everybody, Eric was going to fight him. When Mitch tried to weasel out of it, Eric's response was "Donna was really nice to you and you humiliated her - I can't let you treat people like that."
Season 7 -
When Donna's boss at the radio station fires her for refusing to wear a bikini to promote her show, Eric backs her up. He even 'cusses out' her boss and then storms out, taking her with him! Then he comes up with a devious plan that ultimately helps Donna win her job back.
*Note: I purposely did not include the scene where Eric confronts David Millbank in season 1, because although Eric wanted to fight him for Donna, it wasn't on Donna's behalf but because of his own insecurity. And we know for a fact that Donna didn't like it.

You awoke that morning to something warm and large beside you. When you opened your eyes, you realized it was Vince sleeping soundly with you. You hit him.
"Vince!" You yelled. He flinched.
"Ugh, Y/n..."
"Get the hell out of my bed!" You took your pillow and started hitting him with it.
"Jesus, okay, I'm leaving..."
"How perverted are you?! Idiota!"
"Sorry!"
You sighed loudly and rubbed your face, getting up to take a shower.
You got out, fixed your hair, did your makeup, and put your outfit on.
You pulled on your black, leather Prada calf boots with a 3 inch platform heel. "Alexander!" You yelled.
"Alexander!"
No response. "Alexander!"
You screamed with annoyance. "Ughhh!"
You stormed out your room and into Alexander and Alima's. You could tell they were naked. "Ew!"
"Y/n!" Alexander woke up and shouted.
"Get up!" You said even louder.
"Shut the fuck up! Get out!" He pointed to the door.

Her smile faded when she realized everyone had stopped eating from their plates and were looking at her dead in the eye.
"What?"
"Who were you texting?" asked Mista.
"Why do you care? Pipe down." She scoffed and rolled her eyes.
She rook her last sip of her coffee and stood up.
"Trish, where are you going?" asked Bucciarati.
"I'm going out."
"To see who?" questioned Fugo.
"My friend! What is wrong with all of you?"
"We just want to keep you safe, Trish, calm down." said Giorno.
"Too many scumbags walking the streets. You never know what could happen." mumbled Abbachio.
"Trish is not sneaking around with some guy, everyone. Please." Spice Girl suddenly appeared beside her, reassuring the group.
"Bucciarati, can I have some money?" Trish asked nicely, looking at him, puppy eyed.
"For what?" said Abbachio bitterly.
"I'm going shopping."
"Sure, Trish," he pulled out his wallet and gave her fifteen 10,000 lira bills, "spend it wisely. Have fun, be safe."
She snatched the money with a smirk. "I'll be back later." She kissed his cheek.
"Don't forget you need to be here to come with Giorno to see that guy with Il Terrore at 4!" said Fugo as she picked up her bag and walked out.
She arrived and stood in front of the Prada store, waiting for you.
When she spotted you, her face lit up with delight and she ran to you, jumping into your arms. "Y/n!"
You hugged her tightly and spun her around. "Trish!"
"I missed you so, so much, Y/n. You have know idea how things are without you. I'm so happy." She kissed your cheeks and you did the same.
"Your hair is so pink, and longer!" You ran your fingers through her hair, amazed.
"You haven't changed one bit. You look super sexy though." She grinned.
"Please, look at that body of yours! Too gorgeous."
She linked her arm into yours and walked into the Prada store.
"I saw this bag in a- a maga— a magajin- sorry, magazine."
"Your Japanese accent is insane now, Y/n. The Don will be amazed. Did you know he's half Japanese?" She said.
"No, he's not. I heard he has golden, flaming hair like the morning sun, and bright green eyes."
"That's true. He's really tall too, he grew so much since the first time I met him."
"How tall?" You were eager to know; you love taller guys.
"He was 170cm 5 years ago, now he's 195cm. Bulked up a lot since then."
"You're kidding! That's so hot!" You became happy.
"Ha. He's so handsome, every girl from every family wants to marry him."
"You don't like him?" You turned to her.
"Not at all, to be honest. He's like my brother."
"You're living with all those hot men and not interested in any of them? Huh." You raised an eyebrow.
She blushed and looked away, "Narancia, on the other hand..."
You gasped, "You have a crush!"
"He's so cute... like really cute."
"Zaaaaamn, I see you." You smirked.
"I guess. I want to buy this for Bucciarati, look." She picked up a black leather belt with the Prada Milano logo engraved on the buckle.
"Get it."
"Okay," she waved over an associate, "wrap these up for us, and send them to the front."
The person nodded and took the items you and Trish wanted to purchase to the register. You walked with her there and pulled out your money, but she did as well.
"Trish, please let me pay."
"No, Y/n, please let me pay."
"Trish."
"Y/n."
"Trish, let me pay."
"Y/n, I'm paying. End of story."
You rolled your eyes and put your money away, "Fine. You win."
She got the bags and handed one to you, smiling.
"Thank you, Trish."
"No problem, Y/n." She wrapped her arm around you as you walked together.
"Hey, why don't you give Vince a chance? I know how much he loves you."
"Ugh, as if!" You said, "I really tried, you know. His pride won't allow him to actually be committed to a relationship with someone like me. I love him a lot but I don't want anything long term."
"But if he wasn't the way that he was and he really wanted to haved something with you..." She raised her eyebrows.
"No, I wouldn't."
She furrowed her eyebrows. "Damn, okay then."
"But the thing is, I have to be married with a kid before 25," You frowned, "Guys don't like me."
"Girl, I can see at least 15 men looking at you as we pass by. Look, that guy riding a bike just crashed into a trash can, he's looking right at you." She laughed.
You looked over and saw a man laying in a pile of trash cans staring at you with bliss on his face.
"Yeah, but who's going to truly love and embrace me? With the way my mom was treated by my dad and how I was raised... I've lost all hope."
"I think you'll like the Don, Y/n. I think you'll really like him." She squeezed your arm and smiled at you.
"Sure I will..."
Trish looked down at her watch. "Look, it's already 3. I need to head back before everyone gets suspicious..."
You kissed her cheek again and nodded.
"See you later, Donna." She teased, waving then walking off.
★★★★★★★★★
You were sitting at your vanity, putting on lipstick when your stand, Cheri Lady decided to appear.
"Are you seducing him or making a deal with him? Yare yare... Such a temptress." She mocked you, crossing her arms and leaning against the wall.
You had gained Cheri Lady as a result of your mother's death 8 years ago, your father had stabbed you with a Stand Arrow in a sorrowful rage.
Cheri Lady can steal a stand and/or its ability with just one touch and can recall its power at any given time. For example, since you had once temporarily stolen a stand with a healing ability, you could recall the stand and heal yourself without a problem. But you mostly use her to induce hallucinations on enemies, which works without even having to take their ability.
Another thing your stand is capable of is extreme physical power... Think: Star Platinum meets Spice Girl.. Kind of.
As well as tremendous raw power, Cheri Lady benefits from your negative thoughts and give rude commentary about you and the way you live your life and constantly criticize you...But she only says what you think-- She's just a manifestation of your conscience.
"Damare, Cheri Lady." You touched up your eyeliner and powdered your nose a little.
"You look like a prostitute, Y/n, what the hell are you wearing?"
"Leave my sight!"
"Hmph, as you wish, Y/n-sama." She said sarcastically then disappeared into your body.
You checked the time, put on your shoes, and rushed downstairs. "Vince, Alima! Let's go!" You shouted, picking up your keys quickly.
They rushed downstairs and everyone was out the door. Vince was wearing all black suit with no tie, his chest showing through his unbuttoned collar shirt. You tried not to laugh at him.
Alima was wearing nearly the same thing as you except her shirt was red.
You could feel anxiety creeping up but took a deep breath, seeing the beautiful riverside view from outside the restaurant, and you spotted that golden blonde hair. You rushed over.
"Ciao, Don Giovanna. Romano Y/— I mean, Y/n Romano." You held out your hand, but a man with purple hair and lipstick blocked you from doing so.
Everyone gasped. You could see Trish standing beside Giorno warily.
She's... a woman?! Everyone thought in their minds.
"Abbachio, please," Giorno muttered. He scowled and moved.
You were taken aback at the Don's beauty. He was... gorgeous.
Giorno bowed slightly, taking your hand into his and kissing your knuckles, then gesturing for you to sit down. "Please, sit down, bella."
You smiled softly and sat down. "You've got quite the personal guard here, Don Giovanna."
"It's Giorno, but please, call me GioGio. Rolls off the tongue nicely, don't you think?" His charms and politeness were getting to you. You were allured.
"Alright then, GioGio..."
"Can I call you Bella?" He asked.
"Sure." You nodded.
"Get on with the deal already! I don't have all day." said Abbachio, irritated.
Giorno shot him a sharp glare.
"May I know the names of your men?"
"Trish is here too, you know." He pointed her out. "She's my best friend, like my sister."
"Hey, bitch." She scoffed fakely. Everyone gasped again.
"Hey, ugly." You grinned and she put a hand on your arm playfully.
"I'll ask later..."
"Anyway," he put his hand on the shoulder of a man with a bob cut, wearing an expensive suit, the belt Trish bought for him visible, "This is my consigliere, Bruno Bucciarati."
He looked down and kissed your hand tenderly, "Pleased to meet you, Donna."
You smiled. "How charming..."
Giorno felt a pang of jealousy in him, then spoke again, putting his arm around the one in the beanie, "My caporegime, Mi—"
"Guido Mista. Head of Execution. Didn't know there would be such a pretty face running Il Terrore. Bellissima." He pushed Giorno aside and kissed your hand. Giorno's face twitched.
Narancia pushed Mista and kissed your hand as well. "I'm—"
"Narancia Ghirga," You interrupted warmly, squeezing his hand.
"Eh? How do you know who I am?" He questioned.
You looked at Trish, then back at him and winked without a word.
Fugo quickly shoved Narancia aside, cursed at him, then bowed formally, taking your hand and kissing it. "Pannacotta Fugo. Head of intelligence. It's an honor to meet you, Donna."
"Wow! So polite~" You teased slightly, smirking. You pulled away and looked up at the purple haired man. He was just standing there, looking at you angrily.
You maintained your expression and looked up at him, holding out your hand. He crossed his arms, your charms clearly not working its magic on him.
You felt a little discouraged, retracting your hand then turning to Giorno again.
He swallowed dryly then spoke up. "S-So, may I know the names of your friends here as well?"
"Yes," you directed your hand to Vince, "Vincenzo Sayyid, my capo."
"Ciao." He said.
You then looked at Alima, "Alima Dokhtari, my sister in law. She runs the treasury and whatnot."
"Glad we can meet like this, Don Giovanna." She smiled polite.
"So, Bella, I just want to be up front... Are you sure you are willing to give me everything you've offered?" He asked tentatively.
You took a sip of wine. "Yes, would you like me to give or take a few rekuwiam— Excuse me, Requiem arowszu— Arrows? Sorry," You put your hand on your chest and cleared your throat, "Tasuketekure..." You muttered to yourself.
"Nihongo de hanishimasu ka? Sono accento..." He grinned.
Your eyes widened. "Kimi wa.. nihonjin desu..ka? Maji de?"
Bucciarati and others looked at each other with confusion at the sudden language change.
He laughed and shook his head, "Iyaa. Hafu desu. Boku no oka san wa nihonjin desu."
"Sou desu ne.. Subarashi desu. You don't look half Japanese at all." You were in awe.
"Haha, I get that a lot. Anyway, about the deal..." He went quiet as a waiter approached with the bottle of wine.
"Can I refill your glasses?" He asked. Giorno nodded and put out his glass.
"Sir, do you allow smoking out here?" You asked as he poured the wine in your glass.
"Yes, go ahead. I'll bring you an ashtray."
You took out a cigarette and stuck it in your mouth, Cheri Lady appearing for a split second to light it with a flick of her finger. You pretended to not notice.
Giorno was stunned. Bucciarati looked at the men beside him in shock.
You turned your head away and blew smoke out your mouth, mindful of Giorno.
"So, as I promised," you said, "your 10 million lira," Vince opened a briefcase and the cash was seen in there, "your stand arrows," another briefcase opened, showing the arrows.
Giorno, utterly appalled, could not find any words.
You were insanely beautiful. He was allured, enchanted. Blood rushed to his face and it reddened.
"GioGio?"
He snapped out of his daze and nodded, "Er, y-yes. Everything looks perfect, Bella."
"Are you sure you don't need anything else? I can add an extra 5 million—"
"No, I insist. You've offered more than enough. I'm grateful you are willing to give all of this to Passione." His expression lightened with gratitude.
"If that's what you wish." You said, taking a drag from your cigarette, holding it between your fingers.
He noticed your almond shaped nails were painted nearly the exact same red as the wine. Must reflect off of your personality...
"Can we please get to the topic we discussed, Giorno?" asked Fugo condescendingly.
"Uh... Yes." He said.
You looked at him with curiosity.
He cleared his throat and your eyes met. "There has been an issue in our community regarding traitors."
You abruptly coughed smoke out of your mouth. "I-I'm sorry?"
"Y/n, forgive me if I'm being insensitive, but there have been various punks caught with kilo after kilo of drugs claiming that they're from Il Terrore... and that you put them up to this."
Vince suddenly gasped loudly and yelled out, "What an outrageous claim! Y/n—“
"Vince!"
"Y/n, what is this absurdity?! No such thing is happening in—“
You breathed in shakily, trying not to lose your temper as you slammed your hand down on the table.
"Vince, if you don't get the fuck out of my face and let the Don talk, I'm going to punch you." You murmured calmly, looking away from him.
He backed away slowly and Alima scowled, grabbing his ear, pulling on it while hitting him.
You sighed, putting out your cigarette bud. You put a hand over your mouth with humiliation, then lit another cigarette.
"I'm so sorry about him, GioGio, he has no manners whatsoever," you inhaled, "But as for such claims... They are all completely false. Drug dealing of any kind has been prohibited since the founding of Il Terrore, even during my father's reign... and I'm sure you've heard of his tyranny."
Giorno was internally giggling and kicking his feet, he knew he was in love already. He was blushing and staring deep into your eyes.
"I do hope you'll believe me, Giorno."
He smiled wide and nodded, "Of course, gorgeous."
You cracked up a little as Abbachio smacked the back of his head.
"S-So, um, I was thinking..." His voice trailed, and he was turning red like a tomato.
"What the Don wants to say is we were discussing going on a mission early tomorrow morning to confront some people holding drugs in their storage spaces." Bucciarati continued, standing behind Giorno and putting his hand on his shoulder.
"Sure." You said, then stood up as he did.
"I'll see you tomorrow, GioGio." You smirked softly and leaned in to kiss his cheek.
Giorno was speechless as he watched you walk away.
