It is WILD to me how many people just loudly broadcast their intention to scab, as if that isn't the fastest way to brand yourself as someone who will throw anyone else to the wolves in an industry that runs on collaboration, so every writer say it with me

I think in the universe where the Cullens aren't in Forks, Bella Swan takes a while to come out of her shell, but when she does, she's witty and passionate and smart as a whip, even if she's still quiet and reserved. She sits with Jessica Stanley, who demands the best of everyone, and tells her friends about her boyfriend down on the rez, who is sweet and caring and funny and good with his hands, who works for everything he's ever had.
After class, during a sleepover, Bella whispers to tell Angie and Jess about the night after prom, even though her father, loving and careless, worries about her only a normal amount and loves Jacob Black like his own. When she gets into Dartmouth--all by herself, through study sessions in garages and with Jessica and in Angela's house--she chooses to go to Stanford instead. She misses the heat and light on her skin, even after falling in love with the rain. Jessica comes with her; Angela and Eric go to U of Washington in Seattle instead, for education and journalism respectively.
Bella makes sure to call every week and then one day she drives down to Seattle and her boyfriend, warm like the sun she loves and at least twice as reliable, becomes her fiancé. The ring isn't especially big or ornate or pricey, but the way she smiles could trick anyone into thinking that it was. All of her friends, new and old, are waiting at the small party afterwards, and Bella laughs the entire time. The engagement cake--chocolate, her favourite--is sweet and moist against her tongue.
She moves back to Forks once she gets her masters in information sciences and becomes the town's librarian. She gets married a month before the move, barefoot in the surf and her old prom dress, both her parents weeping with joy and Billy Black beaming damn near as bright as his son, Sue Clearwater holding his hand.
She raises her kids --both beautiful children, blessed with Jake's thick, long hair--with Angela and Eric's and takes them down to Los Angeles to visit their auntie Jess and her husband Quil, who lavishes them with gifts from her career as a top surgeon. She jokes about having to support Quil's career as an environmental lawyer and displays each and every one of his wins alongside her diplomas. When William Black II decides he wants to be a doctor too, she writes him a shining letter of recommendation to her alma mater. Sarah, who has always been the spitting image of her father, joins and eventually takes over Jacob's mechanic shop.
On occasion, Bella fights with Jacob, even though he's the love of her life. Despite this, she is never afraid of him, and he never stops her from doing what she wants. Instead, he goes out and works on his cars and comes back in an hour later with slightly greasy hands and a bouquet of flowers from Emily Young's little garden, planted to celebrate her cousin Leah Uley's wedding. Bella makes him muffins, recipe courtesy of Sue and missing bites courtesy of Seth, Colin, Sarah, Will, and Claire, with raspberries, not blueberries, just how Jake likes them. They make up, and they make changes, and they go on.
Eventually, both slower and quicker than she realizes, Bella gets old. She lives in fear of losing herself, of losing her husband and her children, like her grandmother had. But she remembers her grandkids to the very end, even gets to meet her first great-grandchild a week before it happens. Her heart gives out before her brain does, too weak and too slow.
It was too full of love, the letter from Jacob says. Sarah reads it. Her father passed a day after his wife--simply too heartbroken to live without her. Much of the town of Forks and hordes of family attend their funeral, remembering a life well lived.
It is an unremarkable life, in the grand scheme of things. She does not live to be a thousand; she is no great beast, with speed like the wind and strength; she does not discover her powers or lead a great defiance. Bella Black, happy and human and surrounded by love, could never imagine wanting anything else.

i love how "on est pas à l'abri d'un coup de chance" (we're not sheltered from a stroke of luck) is initially a good omen but can also be used to warn about bad luck

Too often, humbleness and humility are conflated with downplaying everything about yourself, to make yourself stand out as little as possible, and to compartmentalize anything and everything that makes you you.
Humility and being humble are seen as a way to apologize for being, I've noticed. "Oh, I'm not a good singer or a good writer or that talented or or or..." it is a knee-jerk reaction, one that I think many people use to protect themselves from the hurt of being belittled for their talents or interests or appearance, or anything you may value.
My whole point in this post is that there is a huge difference between being humble and humiliating yourself before anybody has the chance to. I want to encourage people to reflect on how they view humbleness and how one might use humbleness to self-flagelate and punish themself for who they are. It is so hard to break this cycle, but you are worth the time and effort it takes to love and value who and what you are. Everything that makes you you is worth it.

i think that while micro labels can seem useful and affirming ultimately they're isolating and kind of an obstacle to your understanding of self. that's because you can never find a word specific enough. there will never be a label or two labels or even ten, twenty of them to perfectly capture and describe all of your thoughts, feelings, experiences, preferences, needs, interests, identities, etc. because you learn more and more about yourself every day and then you change and your wants and needs change with you. having to hop between labels, fearing that you don't 'fit' into a label anymore (both in your own and others eyes), worrying how soon your current label will wear out, questioning if you'll ever fully fit a single one. all that causes a lot of uncertainty and anxiety which could be avoided by just picking a more general thing and molding it according to what it means to YOU. because words will always mean different things to different people, you will never be understood immediately and maybe never completely by anyone but yourself and that's fine
#another thing is that micro labels often feel like they fracture the community unnecessarily#idk how many times i've seen fighting over hyperspecific ace labels and what they mean and if people described in them even belong#and honestly i think this discourse wouldn't be so vile and neverending if people accepted the idea of falling under general umbrella#and accepted that you can't describe complicated weird and wonderful act of human existence with a couple of words#you don't need to explain yourself to anyone#i know in our present pronouns/sexuality/gender in bio carrd era it feels like you have to but you really don't#people aren't entitled to a short summary of your inner world and you can't speed run connection#also feel the need to say: i have nothing against people who use micro labels#if you feel like your micro label describes you perfectly? i'm really glad and happy for you#i'm just expressing my own thoughts and feelings that come from personal experience with exploring these things#at some point i started doubting if i could call myself a lesbian#i thought oh i'm not exactly what a lot of people generally think of when they hear that word#oh they'll misunderstand and i'm not being my 'true self' i'll find a word that fits me exactly if i just keep looking#and then i found out being aroace is a thing and boy did that add a lot of anxiety and confusion to the pot#i didn't feel like i fit in with both communities wasn't lesbian enough wasn't aroace enough#but at some point i just got tired of trying to justify myself to others and to myself#identities aren't houses you live in they're more like seas or rivers flowing into one another#and spaces where they intersect are vague and hard to define and they shift and change and this metaphor is getting away from me#basically#words are complicated#but they're the only direct way we humans can communicate#it is what it is#so make art#a lot of it#oh also unrelated but if you ever tell older queer folks that they're using wrong words to describe themselves i am going to jump you

AFTERMARE WEEK: day 3- light and heavy
a wedding ring; usually made of gold, platinum, or silver. it's given by one partner to the other as a symbol of commitment
such a small and deceptively light object should not be very heavy, but that does not prevent it from holding the crushing weight it's promise implies.
aftermare week is hosted by @bluepallilworld

also no more outing myself directly to my friends, you will find out about pronoun and name change through the wonders of instagram stories where you talk abt yourself /hj
#I mean ... I love my friends I really do. but they're cis and ... idk sometimes you can tell#like not transphobic (obviously otherwise they wouldnt be my friends) but just ... cis#never had any doubts about their gender identity. they feel perfectly fine in this little label and never had any doubts#and that is great for them!! Genuinely!! but I also know that none of my gender feelings will make sense to them#I have tried trust me. they are supportive but also ... just confused and lost#bringing the questioning up to them feels like they expect you to have an answer or to help you discover the answer with simple quetsions#that you yourself had asked yourself a thousand times with no clear answer and they somehow expect it to work this time#I know they mean well!! I love that they're trying but also ... it usually just ends up making me feel frustrated and them slightly frustra#frustrated bcs it feels like I am being uncooperative when all they are trying to do is help#so yeah idk how to bring it up#bcs Idk what I am#I just know I don't like being refered to as a girl#I am either indifferent by it as in 'not really but also not really NOT so I guess that works fine' or 'I mentally recoiled'#which is ... not really clear#I might be vaguely ''girl shaped'' on some days#and on some days I am not#but that does not really explain what I am does it#am I male? idk I feel like maybe sometimes I am vaguely ''male shaped'' more so than girl shaped atm I think#but in the end it's always something else entirely I think. it might briefly resemble it but never for long and never entirely#yes I have been debating if 15 y/o me had it all down when they said 'biromantic-asexual genderfluid'#bcs ... yeah I've come to notice ace was actually pretty correct I am definitely somewhere on that spectrum#I am ... very unhorny and genuinely came to realize I do not find people 'hot'. I find them aesthetically nice to look at and that's it#bi ... yeah I had a few phases of doubts but by now I really can't deny that anymore#so 15 y/o me MIGHT HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN RIGHT ABT IT ALL#but I am not sure yet#and until I'm sure I'll ... just not say anything bcs I know it'll just end with confusion and awkwardness
