I love how Doctor Who has gone from BBC execs in the 60's not wanting the Doctor to have a granddaughter because they don't want to imply that he's had sex, to 15 just casually going "Yeah, I fucked Houdini, what about it?" THAT'S FUCKING CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Our whole lifetime, that Doctor that first met the Toymaker never, ever stopped. Put on trial. Exiled. Key to Time. All the devastation of Logopolis. (Adric.) Adric. River Song. All the people we lost. Sarah Jane has gone, can you believe that for a second? (I loved her.) I loved her. And Rose. But the Time War, Pandorica, Mavic Chen. We fought the Gods of Ragnarok, and we didn't stop for a second to say, what the hell?
How you people watch a show but are not in the fandom is wild to me, like wdym you can consume a piece of media without it consuming yourself? You guys don’t obsess to the point of madness over those fictional people? Just me?
David Tennant watching in horror as Neil Patrick Harris causes chaos while lip syncing to Spice Up Your Life wasn’t on my 2023 bingo card but holy stars and planets above, it totally should have been.
*~.It’s so comforting to know I can stay up till 2 am reading the most toe curling, filthy, plotless smut in a warm bed on thanksgiving break. This is what the holidays are all about. *~.
so there's this photo of dw cast & crew in an escape room. cool enough by itself BUT i'm totally obsessed with catherine in that helmet + holding twelve's sonic (?!!) the wrong way😭💘
At first I thought the Toymaker’s “too many teeth” reveal was meant to be an uncanny valley effect; a personification of something that isn’t human pretending to be human. Like an AI image that doesn’t wholly complete its replica of a person, despite its efforts. And maybe that truly is what it’s meant to be for us.
But then I remembered that The Master became one of these teeth by LOSING A GAME to the Toymaker. This carries the implication that the Toymaker may have Too Many Teeth because his mouth is full of TROPHIES OF HIS DEFEATED ENEMIES.
the toymaker disseminated a memetic virus among doctor who fans because now there is no way anybody will ever be able to mention the fact that a companion is technically dead-not-dead without somebody piping up with the WELL THAT’S ALRIGHT THEN! and getting twice as many likes. the above thread had nothing to do with the giggle even
i even noticed people applying it to irl contexts. i.e. “young people aren’t facing homelessness en masse, they just have to choose between living at their parents’ house or on the streets. oh well that’s alright then!” stock phrase for the AGES fr. thank you neil patrick harris
